Noisetalgia Podcast 004: Ferry Corsten (2023)

It is Tuesday, and hopefully you are having a great day! I hope that everything is OK right now. If not, I might have something for you all, something you might enjoy. Something to lighten up your mood. It's yet another mix by Indecent Noise, but this time it's not focussed on Tiesto, but on his fellow Dutchy, a bloke called Ferry Corsten. Recognise the name? If you do, sit back, and enjoy this hour and a half long mix. If not, let Indecent Noise's mix be your ultimate guide to one of Trance's finest producers ever. Yes, I said ever, and I mean it. You cannot underestimate the importance of Ferry Corsten for the Trance scene. He is, without a doubt, one of the greatest producers to have ever existed!

He is a legend. I knew of his existence since the mid 90s, but to me he became an all time legend, when it was around the Millennium, and his music just went from 'ok' to 'my Gawd this is heavenly music'. But what I didn't know, was that he has been active since 1989! And the amount of aliases he has used over the years did confuse me slightly. Is it or isn't it a Ferry Corsten production? He has had so many, I lost count after a while. And I seriously didn't know he was behind most of the tracks in this mix.

Well, I might exaggurate it slightly. Of course I knew him as System F and Gouryella, and Veracocha. Moonman was a name that only appeared in later life (to me) as an alias of Ferry. But what Indecent Noise has done, is nicely compose a mix, with 21 of the finest Ferry productions. But it's only a snippet into the life of this wonderful producer: he's made so many records over the years. If you were to capture all, your mix would be roughly 8-9 hours long (which coincidentally Indecent Noise did before, and you can find those mixes on his Soundcloud channel too).

I started listening to this early this morning, and it's now 12pm, and I'm still listening to it. It's such a good mix with so many wicked anthems. A true appreciation mix to all that Ferry Corsten has created (be it only a short mix, as you cannot simply fit all Ferry's records in an hour and a half long mix).

  1. William Orbit - Barber's Adagio For Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix)

  2. System F - Cry (Ferry Corsten Remix)

  3. U2 - New Year's Day (Ferry Corsten Vocal Mix)

  5. Cygnus X - The Orange Theme (Moonman's Orange Juice Mix)

  10. Ferry Corsten - Right Of Way

  11. Ferry Corsten - Punk

  12. Ferry Corsten - Galaxia

  13. Ferry Corsten feat Betsie Larkin - Made Of Love

  14. Gouryella - Ligaya

  15. Ferry Corsten - Indigo

  16. Moonman - Don't Be Afraid '99 (Ferry Corsten Remix)

  17. System F - Out Of The Blue (Violin Edit)

  18. Starparty - I'm In Love (Ferry Corsten & Robert Smit Remix)

  19. Kosheen - Catch (Ferry Corsten Remix)

  20. System F - Dance Valley Theme 2001

  21. Veracocha - Carte Blanche

Such a beautiful mix. The tracks themselves are considered Trance classics, that's for sure. You cannot ever make a classic Trance appreciation mix without including a few Ferry Corsten records. I am really pleased and was pleasantly surprised when I saw this on my Soundcloud timeline. Indecent Noise has done a few mixes in this series, but I wasn't aware that I needed to hear this specific mix so desperately. But now, after listening to this for 4-5 hours, I want to hear more.

The tracks are good. So many wicked anthems in here. If you want to experience the full whack, the full picture of what Ferry did back in the glorious days, check this mix out.

I really wasn't aware that he has made so many timeless classics. I knew he was a great producer, but this good? Dare I to say that he could be the best Trance producer who has ever lived? Is he the best of the best? I dare, and I will say yes. I loved 99% of the tracks in this mix, and they are of such great calibre, they are just so damn good. Top quality anthems, and if you compare them to other producers, he just wins, hands down.

Ferry Corsten is the G.O.A.T. One DJ and producer that we should cherish and remind ourselves every so often that we've got such a legend among us. And with mixes like this one it shows us all how amazing he is. Thanks Indecent Noise for yet another wicked mix.

Best record? I cannot choose, I simply cannot.
