Sunday has arrived, the day after the COVIDIOTS have gone down the pubs and destroyed any chance of us getting back to normality. We just have to get used to the fact that we have to stay at home for a long time. So we have to make do with what's online, and today I've got a mix for you all, Early Hardstyle lovers. If you love your Hardstyle, you know Showtek. They used to produce Hardstyle, nowadays they aren't anymore. Don't even know what they are doing to be fair.
To commemorate what they used to make, Audioholik made this appreciation mix. Full of their early work. From the golden years of Hardstyle. During these glorious years they had a lot of success, and have made memorable anthems. Those anthems haven't gone unnoticed, and even in 2020 people are loving those tunes. Audioholik went all in, and choose the big dancefloor anthems. Didn't even know they had aliases. Back then we didn't have Discogs, or maybe we did, but I didn't even know of its existence. But only the last couple of years I do go on it, to find out that a lot of artists used a shit ton of aliases. Today is no exception. But deep down inside I should have known; they do have a specific style and sound, which you can attribute to Showtek. Yes, it might have been under an alias, but you can still tell it's a Showtek anthem.
I do love it. Yes, the sound might have been a tad happier and upbeat, but it's still hard and rough when required. And Hardstyle was just this way back in the early years of the noughties. It was just like that. And we all loved it. Hardcore wasn't alive as much as it was earlier, and us hard heads still required something rough and wicked, hence why Hardstyle grew in popularity.
I've got only praise for Audioholik's mix, and he has already received good feedback on Soundcloud. So why not go and have a listen to this mix. You might even like it. You might think that the Early sound is awesome. You might become me! Yes, I do prefer the earlier sound.
The best track? The last one. Simple. Such a dope track. It would literally get the crowds loose their minds when this was played. A dancefloor smasher!
