🎶 The Ultimate Oldschool Hardcore Gabber Mix (2018)

The 90s were so glorious. Hardcore was so unique, exciting and fresh, and it will be with us for the rest of our lives, those who have experienced it. I was one of them, and am still proud to be part of this culture. I might have been slightly too young during the 90s, but when I did party in 1998 onwards, I became part of this rich culture that not only took the Netherlands by storm, but the whole world! Hardcore 4 life, and Hardcore will never die! Those were slogans shouted out a lot during the 90s. But we meant it. It was our way of living, our culture. Our calling.

Someone on Youtube made this mix. Someone with the channel called Hardstyleofchoice. Before people start posting stuff in line with 'he's got Hardstyle in his name, he's not Hardcore', let's just focus on the music. And the video. If you can, I would urge you to watch the video. The video contains footage of several parties during the 90s, from all over. A couple of things you might notice: one of them being the fact that drugs was used during these events and some of the ravers looked so damn high, they weren't probably in our galaxy anymore. And secondly, everyone is having fun. A lot of laughs. Hands in the air, and as the Dutch would say 'gaan met die banaan'.

And that's just it. Everyone who remembers the 90s, remembers the good part of it. We all had fun. Yes, it might have been devilish music, but hey, we had fun. We enjoyed ourselves. We lived our lives to the fullest. I was part of it, and didn't need drugs to get me going. The music was (and still is) extremely exciting, new, and just what the 'teenagers' needed. We needed new music, and Hardcore/Gabber was created just at the right time.

Whoever made this mix, credits to what you have made. More than 1.1 million views on Youtube, and counting. And the tracklist is one to check out. A few classics in here that you might have missed for a few years, or not even remember. But the mix is packed with dancefloor anthems, only for the party people. Not the people who stand at the bar, not moving. Only the gabbers and raveteef crowd is allowed to check this out.

The tracklist. Wow. You will immediately be transported back to the 90s. Good times.

A very nice selection of tracks by whoever made this mix. A good selection. I even forgot a few tracks even existed! But yeah, the majority of records I could still remember vividly, and like they never left my conscious. They've always been part of me, and will be part of me, even when I'm 83. I will be deaf and not able to hear a single thing, but I would still hear the songs in my head. You don't need speakers to hear and feel the music.

I was thinking at first that this Hardcore mix was slightly focussed to the happier side of Hardcore, and then I realised that I do not care, really. Both Hardcore/Gabber and Happy Hardcore have always been my favourite styles, so I cannot be judgemental. And the tracks in this mix are good. So is the video. It's nice to see everyone having a lot of fun during the 90s.

The mix is sometimes a bit 'meh'. It's good, but not always excellent. A few hits and misses, here and there. Small errors. But I did enjoy it a lot. The outcome is still a happy Dutchman, thinking about the good ol' days. And that's what you wanted me to do.

Which record is the one that got me raving the hardest? Well, you wouldn't believe me, but there are two. One being 'Going Crazy' remixed by Bodylotion, and the other 'Get Free' by Mental Theo and Charly Lownoise. That last one still gets me deep inside, and even though it's happy as fuck, it's still a classic.

A wicked mix. A time capsule on Youtube. Worth checking out!
