It is Saturday, and I'm here, working from home. I shouldn't be working, but what else is there to do? Nothing much, so I fired up the laptop, and now I am working. But when I'm working, I hate working in silence, that's just so freaking boring. And I really dislike it. How people do that, is beyond me. Music is a structural part of humans, and needs to be heard every day. No matter what kind of music it is, you need to hear it. And today's set is one filled with music of a genre I don't hear that often, and it's made by someone who played at this year's Boomtown.
Techno I know. But Acid Techno? That's a style you don't see very often, if truth be told. And it's a style I don't know much about. But it's certainly one interesting style. And most people would prefer listening to this at a big ass event, like Boomtown. Another event on my list I want to visit before I die. It has got the best reviews, and always the dopest line ups in the world. Don't know why I don't go to this event, it's beyond me.
Brooksie played at this year's Boomtown, at the Acid Leak. Again, I am familiar with this event and how awesome it seems to be, but not familiar with more. Or the DJ. Whoever Brooksie is, what I can tell, is that he made an awesome mix at the Acid Leak stage. As mentioned, this set is filled with Acid Techno/Techno tunes, and it's an hour of pure power coming through your speakers.
If you are into Acid Techno, you will loose your mind. If you aren't, you might look at this and think 'yeah, that's a tracklist'. But it isn't just about who made it and what the title is, the focus is more on what the tracks do to the listener. Only one way to find out:
The Big Guys - 2 Turntables, A Mic And Some Vinyl (Krismix & Koss Remix)
Benji303 - Power To The People (W R 23 Remix)
Darc Marc - Dirty Rocking Bass
Vlado - One, Two, Three
Benji303 & Tekno Token - Acid Training
Chris Liberator & Sam DFL - Agitate (Original Mix)
Secret Hero & Phil Kershaw - Keep It Simple (Original Mix)
Acid Ted & Cyber Steve - Sound System Banger (OB1 Remix)
Dynamo City & Rats On Acid - Virus
Secret Hero & Rats On Acid - Smokey's Revenge
Winnebago Warriors - Trailer Trash (Chris Liberator & Geezer's Trash The Trailer & Weight In It Mix)
Temperature Drop - Mosquitos Tweeter (2012 Remix)
You might be looking at this, thinking 'fuck, this is the shit!'. Well, you are in luck for finding this mix. I don't know how I found this mix, but I have, and now it won't let me go. I've been listening to this over and over, and it's really giving me energy. I feel hyped up, and nothing else can be seen as an contributing factor, only this set.
A very solid set. And during the 62 minutes, DJ Brooksie takes you on a journey. A very pleasant journey, and you will certainly not stop moving. He's picked 12 wicked tracks, and if I were there at Boomtown, I would have danced my ass off. This reminds me of the early Hard House anthems, but obviously with a slight twist. Acid has been thrown in the mix, and made it slightly better.
I really enjoyed this set. In it there's one song that might not be the best one in this set, but it's certainly one that remains in your head for the rest of the day. Guess which one I'm referring to? Correct, it's 'Dirty Rocking Bass' by Darc Marc. God, those lyrics are so repetitive, but oh so catchy.
A cool set, and it's also a free download. Hop onboard the Brooksie train, and see where the journey takes us!
