DJ A.K. - Club Kinetic Classics Mix 30.04.21

Club Kinetic, who remembers this memorable club in Stoke-In-Trent? Not me, sadly. I've never had the honour to go. But every so often you see a DJ or raver's post on social media, talking about this club and the awesome parties it had back in the day. And of course I've seen and heard sets from well known DJs such as DJ Sy, DJ Brisk, Stu Allan, Slipmatt, and many more. But sadly I never had the pleasure to experience this madness. And this had some big players playing, such names as Hixxy, Brisk, Dougal, Ratty, Darrien Kelly, Carl Cox, Demand, Vibes, Force & Styles, Sharkey, Scorpio, Mark EG, Seduction, Tango, DJ SS, DJ Hype, Grooverider, and many, many more. If I lived in the UK back in the day, I would have certainly saved a few pennies, and visited this club.

So how come I am talking about this club? Well, it's because DJ A.K. uploaded a brand new a few days ago, with records that were played in Kinetic. And they were played on Stu Allan's show, according to A.K. And the records are only a handful of memorable tunes. For those who have been, and for those who haven't been, it's a trip down memory lane. A lot of Dutch and British Happy Hardcore/Hardcore anthems from the 90s. And that always makes me smile. It always does.

When I think of the 90s, I do think of these records. No joke. This is what the 90s represents. And to many who have been clubbing in the UK, it probably reminds them of Club Kinetic. And it contains a wide variety of anthems. From the happier stuff to the slightly harder stuff. Not as hard and rough as the present day Hardcore, but for those days it was hard enough. And literally everything is in here that could potentially make you smile.

If you don't know any of these, or even one of these records, are you even a raver/gabber? Come on, A.K.'s selection contains literally the biggest records from the 90s. The tunes that got everyone on the dancefloor. And they featured on many compilations. Thankfully not destroyed due to radio overkill. Still highly enjoyable!

Here's the tracklist. If this doesn't generate nostalgic feelings, there's something wrong with you!

Well done, A.K. What a legendary set. The tracks are all ace, and some might be a tad cheesy, but still highly enjoyable. This is my childhood in a nutshell. All these tracks were on compilations I listened and absorbed. This brings back so many memories, and I've not even been to Club Kinetic! I still hold each and every record close to my heart, and to find them all crammed into a 70 minute long mix just makes my day even better.

A lot of Scott Brown records in this mix, but he dominated the charts back in the 90s. He made a huge contribution to the scene, and we are grateful for it. But it's not just Scott that took ownership of the 90s, many others have done the same. And you will find a lot of them in here, in this smashing mix.

I have to say that, even though I've never been, if this was played in Club Kinetic and on Stu Allan's show, it must have been crazy times. It's like this mix was made for me specifically. For me this is Hardcore, this is the 90s. And it's so freaking good!

I've got nothing negative to say. This sound makes me happy. This is the good ol' sound I really adore, and miss. And the 90s, come on, they were the freaking best! If you disagree, you are insane. And have no sense of music. Or taste.

Which record was my favourite? 'Like A Dream' is ace, 'Do What You Like' an all time classic, 'Six Days' a memorable tune, but 'Dark & Light' is the all time classic. Closely followed by 'Get The Feeling'.

Check this mix out! Bring back the 90s, and bring them back right now!

Thanks A.K. for making me feel like a teenager again. Be it for 70 minutes, but those minutes were glorious!
