The year is 2012. DJ Casketkrusher was awake on the 8th of September, and he decided to create this new mix. Seeing as he loves his mixes, he thought he would make one focussed on probably the most recognisable label in the whole Hardcore universe: Thunderdome / ID&T. And knowing Casketkrusher, he picked the finest anthems from the early years of Thunderdome, and crammed them into a 72 minute long mix. And now, back to the present year, 2020, and our pandemic. We can't rave, we have to stay indoors, and I just felt the urge to hear a Thunderdome megamix. I have reviewed his previous second instalment mix before back in 2018, and now it's time to check out the first mix he made 8 years ago.
The previously reviewed mix contained the wicked anthems, and I really loved it. I gave it 5 out of 5 stars. And now it's time to listen to the mix. The originator. The original. The first of its kind. Well, not in the Hardcore universe, but in the Casketkrusher universe. He has made plenty of mixes in his DJ career lifespan, but a Thunderdome mix always gets a lot of attention, and praises. But it all depends on if the mix is any good. I've come across the usually 'crap' mixes and mixes by DJs who didn't even make it themselves. They used an already existing Thunderdome mix and called it their own. SMH.
In this 72 minute long mix you can find the finest of the finest anthems. Some forgotten. Some overhyped. Some just awesome, and some OK-ish. But what you do get is a flashback to the good days of Hardcore. The innocent years. So which anthems did Casketkrusher use for his first 'Thunderdome' megamix? Well, these:

Megamix: Outro (Thunderdome, Then It's Your Choice)
As expected Casketkrusher made it into a festive mix. No, I'm not fucking saying he has mixed all Christmassy songs or jingle bells into the mix, but he has made the mix cheerful. Reminiscing the past by hearing these anthems. And boy, they are good.
Some of these records I completely forgotten about! Yes, I know, I shouldn't forget these classics, but it's not like I only listen to Thunderdome CDs 24/7. I wish I could, but I reckon it would drive me completely mad. I am not 18 anymore.
There are plenty of awesome records to choose from. I cannot just pick one anthem which is my favourite one, but I had to pick a handful: 'Return Of A Looney' by Renata Ricciardi, DJ Gizmo's 'Rescue','Bullshit' by 50% Of The Dreamteam, Masters Of Ceremony's 'Hardcore To Da Bone'... I could just go on for hours. Good selection mr Casketkrusher.
As good as the tracklist is, the mix itself contains a few errors, more than I am used to hear from Casketkrusher. Like, a lot more lol. And it's kind of unexpected. I know he has the skills and potential to become a very great DJ, but maybe in 2012 he was still 'learning'? It's not as smooth as I'd wished it was. He has defiantly mastered that to be fair. But as good as I wished it was, it's not perfect.
A good mix nonetheless, but not Casketkrusher's finest. Still worth listening to, don't get me wrong.
