Sied van Riel. One of my favourite Trance DJs and producers. Huge fan from him for many years, and still to this day I am very happy whenever I play one of his albums, or find a mix of his online. He's been quiet lately, or maybe I've missed stuff from him by accident. But when I saw one liveset by the legend being uploaded onto Soundcloud by rave_on, it made me a happy Dutchman. An extremely happy Dutchman. This is a set from way before I started listening to him, or just before. Oh, I am so bad with dates.
But Sied van Riel does not need an introduction. If you love Trance music, you love him. The man who resembles Ross from Friends has always intrigued me with his take on Trance music. Very melodic, very straight to the point Trance. And sometimes clinging onto the harder side of Trance, but not hard enough to be classified as Hard Trance. But whatever he makes, it's certainly as good as gold.
Come to think of it, I even think that this set, which was recorded back in 2008, was just before I discovered Sied. It was recorded at Crystal Clouds' 5th birthday party, held on the 29th of July. Now, I am not sure where this club/party was held. If you do know, please leave a comment below. And more to the point: where you there? If you were, how was it? How was it to experience Sied? I never had the honour to hear him perform live, so I envy you a lot. A lot.

That just happened. What a wonderful tracklist. So many fond memories to these tracks, and this kind of Trance music. Is it just me, or is Trance just timeless? You tell me if I'm right or if I'm wrong. It is a shame that some tracks aren't played more often.
Sied has an ear for good music, and this set is no exception. Full of wicked tracks, including a few of his own. But the general gist is that he picks excellent tracks which might not be known by the general public. And that's certainly not a bad thing.
The set is really calm, and relaxing. And so many great songs were selected. Not really a fan of Mat Zo's rendition of Push's 'Legacy' (you just can't top the original), but besides that one, the tracks are just solid. So solid, that I even prefer a remixed version of a Sied classic to be the best of this set....
Of course I am talking about 'Rush', remixed by Trebbiano. Never heard this version before, but what a serious anthem that is! And the following track is also a smashing record: 'Unstable'!
A wicked set for this Tuesday, hope you like it as much as I liked it!
