The weekend is about to end, and I hope you had a nice weekend. I certainly did. The standard weekend chores, painting the fence as well, and we went to the cinema to watch the Odyssey. I've been recharging my battery for the upcoming week, which will be yet another busy one. And as I'll be in the office on a Monday, I will be in dire need of something energetic, and a few days ago did I come across a mix by DJ Ad. An oldie, but a solid one. You might enjoy it too, if you give it a chance.

It's an oldie, but it is filled with Hardcore anthems from a forgotten era. The first thing I noticed, was the Earthquake image, which still looks dope as hell. And second, the mix contains a few records you don't hear that often. Not sure if they did appear on an Earthquake CD, but that really doesn't matter, does it? As long as the tracks are Hardcore, and they certainly are.

I've been following DJ Ad on YouTube for a while now, and have reviewed a few of his mixes over the years. This one I've not seen before, and even though it's an 8 year old mix, it still slap hard. It's got the records I used to listen to on my cheap ass headset (with foam cushioning which would deteriorate after 2 weeks of usage, and also because my greasy hair gel), and would listen to them at max volume. Those were the golden days, right? Probably left me with permanent ear damage, but you cannot listen to Hardcore at anything BUT max volume. And obviously the bass needs to be in the max too. Feel that bass penetrate your skull!

This is a very lovely mix. And it also has a few 'new' records, not heard before, in it. And that makes it more interesting. It will certainly give me a boost of energy during the week. And it's a good way to end the weekend with.

The tracks are great. And it's a nice blend between Hardcore and Happy Hardcore. For me, especially around 1995-1996, whatever was classed as both, would be listened to over and over. And there are a few used by DJ Ad, which I still love, and hate to see them not get played more than usual. They deserve more credit.

'Motherfuckin' Music' is the first. 'Face Down' obvious second choice, and we have to give a shoutout to 'Happy Verbs'. And 'Remember That'. Come on, those instantly take me back to when everything Hardcore made me happy. And yes, I include Happy Hardcore in that timeframe.

The mixing isn't perfect, which is slightly odd, as I've heard some wicked mixes by DJ Ad. The selection is great, but the mixing isn't. The only reason why I'm not giving it 5 stars is because of that. But not because the tracks are bad, the opposite.

Have a great week all, hope it goes quickly. And if you need some more banging mixes, make sure you check out DJ Ad on YouTube. Worth your time, trust me.
