Autobiography Of A Rave Kid Part VI (2021)

The weekend has landed. It is Good Friday, and you are probably getting excited to start munching on those blooming Easter chocolate eggs. Not really sure where the bunny and the chocolate eggs were mentioned in the Bible, or what their connection is to the big J, but hey ho. If you are not fussed about this, and you are happy you've got a few days off, let's focus on some good music to get you through the week. And it's a bloody long week too! 4 whole days of doing fuck all, that sounds appealing to all of us, right?

Selectabwoy has got you covered. He made sure that this Friday was going to be a good day. And truth be told, I wasn't even aware he made this sixth mix in this legendary mix series. I actually had a few other mixes lined up, but couldn't be fucked to listen to them, or rate them. Some were hours long, and I don't have the patience to sit here for hours. Nah, I'm someone who likes his mix to be nice and compact, and Selectabwoy has done that yet again.

A mix nearly 70 minutes long, with a lot of happy stomping Breakbeat Hardcore Jungle Techno anthems. That's a mouth full. But you know it's going to be a great mix when you see his name attached to it. He always, and I do mean it, delivers. Not like Deliveroo or JustEat. Nah, he delivers the heat, the fire, the bangers, the choons! Yeah, I'm trying to talk street, look where that is leading me....

All jokes aside, Selectabwoy has indeed selected the finest anthems from the good old raving years. The Jungle anthems you are waiting for. Just have a butcher at the tracklist and you know why I'm repping this mix.

  1. SDR & Subsonic - Watch Dis Space Part 2 (Digital Pressure Remix)

  2. DJ Seduction - Really Dark (But Not Too Dark Mix)

  3. Tango - Future Followers (VIP Mix)

  4. Eze-G - Stepping Up

  5. DJ Krome & Mr. Time - The Slammer (Nookie Remix)

  6. Static Substance - Seventh Hour

  7. Frantic & Impulse - Untitled (Volume 1A)

  8. Double X-Posure - Deep As Fuck

  9. Naughty Naughty - Untitled (Volume 2A - Yellow Side)

  10. Tango & Fallout - Intrigue

  11. Criminal Minds - Drums Of Doom (Slipmatt Remix)

  12. Jack 'n' Phil - Unity (Instrumental Mix)

  13. Intense - The Quickeninig

  14. Intense - Paradox

  15. Fast Floor - 1000 Phons

  16. International Rude Boyz - Drum Programme

  17. Out Of Order - Stung

  18. Remarc - One 4 Da Vibes

  19. Overdubb - Eruption (3D Mix)

  20. The Dok - Strings Of Life '94

  21. Nookie - Shining In Da Darkness

I've been listening to this mix over and over again, and it still surprises me how awesome these tracks are, and how they have stood the test of time. And the listeners on Soundcloud agree that this mix is dope. As someone on Soundcloud used the word 'vintage', that is a cool definition of oldskool anthems. Vintage. I like that. I might use that from now on.

Most people will be sitting in front of their television, bored stiff, and there's no good reason to do so. Get off your arse, and start playing Selectabwoy mixes. Trust me, the bloke has got hundreds of mixes. If you are not a fan of this mix, you might like one other, I am sure. I've reviewed many in the past, and have also nominated him for the DJ Mag Top 100. Sadly he wasn't in the top 100, but to me he is in mine. Not just the top 100, but top 5! Fucking wicked DJ, and sometimes he does surprise you with another slamming mix. Slamming, as this one.

Selectabwoy was inspired by some old vintage mixes by artists such as Ratty, Slipmatt, and more, and in the future there will be kids out there who will make mixes after being inspired by Selectabwoy. That day will come.

All in all a wicked mix, with deep underground anthems. It made us who we are, and who we will be. This is part of our heritage, and I'm glad that I can consider myself the vintage music lover. The oldskool fan. Like most of you.

It was difficult to pick one anthem, but I go with Remarc's 'One 4 Da Vibes'. Proper Happy vibes coming through my speakers. Really enjoy that record. It's been a while since I last heard it. Goosebumps all over my body!

Selectabwoy, you sir, are a legend!
