Marc Acardipane Live @The Thunderdome (Hardcore Stream 2020)

Only a handful days ago Thunderdome had their online stream presented to the world. With a short but killer line-up, the fans of the brand and the music were seriously treated to some nice Hardcore music. They were all only half an hour long sets, but anything by Ophidian, Nosferatu, N-Vitral, DRS, Drokz, and one of the godfathers of the sound, Marc Acardipane, is always a bliss. I couldn't listen: I was with the wife on a romantic trip to Eastbourne. Even though I could have tried, it would have ruined our lovely time together (she despises Hardcore music). But at least we can find the sets online. And the first one I found was the set by Marc Acardipane.

The man, the legend, the Godfather, the man with a billion aliases. That's Marc. I did catch a glimpse of his set (be it 1 second), but wasn't it recorded in a famous Dutch prison? I simply forgot its name, but it was a famous prison. A good theme to be fair: the world is locked inside, and so are people in prisons. And hence the colours and images uploaded a week before on social media: all the artists were wearing prison outfits.

Now let's get back Marc's set. His set is filled with the anthems you would expect from him. I know I might say something controversial right now, but here I go: Marc has created more dancefloor anthems than anyone else. His tunes are so catchy as fuck, and are a staple in the Hardcore history. And for his Thunderdome set he went all out, and picked the big ones. The big guns.

You don't believe me? You know the artist, right? So check out the tracklist, and you will know each and every track, and they all bring a smile on your face. And they take you back to the golden years of Hardcore immediately. So, here's the tracklist, and please do not ejaculate all over your keyboard.

  1. Marc Acardipane feat Pilldriver - Awake In Neo Tokyo

  2. Marc Acardipane feat Marshall Masters - Stereo Murder

  3. Marc Acardipane feat Rave Creator - Bleep Blaster

  4. Marc Acardipane feat Marshall Masters & The Ultimate MC - Hustler For Life

  5. Marc Acardipane feat Rave Creator - A New Mind (Cold Rush Phuture Mix)

  6. Marc Acardipane feat Marshall Masters - Return To Zero (The Mysteryland Anthem)

  7. Marc Acardipane feat Rave Creator - Atmos-Fear

  8. Marc Acardipane feat 6-Pack - Drunken Piece Of Shit (Mix 1)

  9. Marc Acardipane feat Inferno Bros - Slaves To The Rave (PCP Mix)

  10. Marc Acardipane feat Nasty Django - Hardcore Muthafucka

  11. Marc Acardipane feat Turbulence - Six Million Ways To Die

I told you that the tracklist would make you happy. And did it? Be honest, it fucking did. If it didn't, why the fuck are you still on planet Earth? No need for unhappy bunnies. Marc Acardipane is a fucking living legend, and you need to accept that. And his music is awesome.

If life gives you lemons, take 'em, and appreciate them. At the moment we cannot go to raves, because of COVID-19, and we shouldn't risk it, we should try and stay alive. Fuck COVID-19. Maybe Marc can make a 2020 version of 'Six Million Ways To Die', and call it 'Six Million And One Way To Die'. We didn't have COVID-19 when the original anthem was made, right?

It is a good set with bangers. The classics. The anthems that made Marc a household name in the scene. He's made billions of other wicked tracks, but he had to play these anthems. He just had to. And his set was only 30 minutes long, so it was kind of limited. He went for the big guns, and it was nice that he took us on a journey, a journey through his own creations.

The mixing isn't as smooth as you would expect it, sometimes it jumps too quickly. But he's doing it live, so give him credit for it. And he's in a bloody prison, so another daunting environment that might affect his skills. But no matter what you think of the mix, it's still dope.

This gets the highest score. Not only because it's a Thunderdome set, but because it's a Marc Acardipane set, and the records are awesome. Especially the Mysteryland anthem. Such an underrated anthem. Bring back the 90s equipment and start making music like they did back then. The music was way better!
