Millennium Hardcore Mix (2020)

Jason Payne. Isn't he the one who does a lot of Rawstyle stuff? Well, clearly it's not the only thing he does. Back in 2020 he did a livestream due to COVID-19 (like the rest of the DJ community), and his set was focussed on Millennium Hardcore. A man with an open eye to more styles than just one. It's great to hear people playing something different compared to their usual style. And this Millennium Hardcore mix is just the right mix for today. A dull and dreary Saturday. We need that bit of oomph just to keep us going....

And Jason has got your back! During the lockdown period the whole world went online and we saw a lot of livestreams, and sadly I missed this one. And most of the livestreams if I'm being honest. But thankfully Soundcloud has come to the rescue, be it 2 years too late. No worries though, this mix won't disappear from Soundcloud, as it's reviewed extremely well, and has reached 15.4k+ so far. Let's crank up the numbers, and spread the Millennium Hardcore love, eh?

This mix didn't come with a tracklist, but Hansolo on Soundcloud was so generous to compose one, so we all know which Millennium Hardcore anthems Jason Payne selected for this mix. And yes, they are the most well known songs, but who is complaining? Who doesn't want to hear these 27 excellent tunes? As weird as it might seem, and we've heard them a billion times, they still bring huge smiles on people's faces, all over the globe. It has become timeless music, that's for sure.

But which songs did Jason use for his set? Well, these:

  1. Evil Activities & Endymion feat E-Life - Broken

  2. DJ Neophyte vs Tha Playah - Still Nr. 1

  3. Amnesys - Elevation

  4. Art Of Fighters - Redemption

  5. Endymion - Payback (Tommyknocker's Yes I Am Remix)

  6. Art Of Fighters - Artwork (Tha Playah Remix)

  7. Tha Playah - Fuck The Titties (The Viper & Tommyknocker Remix)

  8. Evil Activities & DJ Panic - Quiet Dedication (Neophyte & Tha Playah Remix)

  9. Tommyknocker vs Sunbeam - Twisted World (The Viper Mashup)

  10. Ophidian - Butterfly VIP

  11. DJ Promo - Phreak Ya Speaka

  12. The Stunned Guys & DJ Paul - Thrillseeka

  13. Hard Creation - I Will Have That Power (The Stunned Guys Remix)

  14. Men Of Steel - The Future Is Ours (DJ Panic & Tha Playah Remix)

  15. G-Town Madness & The Viper - Come As One

  16. Masters Of Ceremony - Bottoms Up

  17. Outblast - Pride & Pain

  18. Ophidian & Ruffneck - So Many Sacrifices

  19. DJ D - Shock The Future (Hellsystem Remix)

  20. Nitrogenetics - Pledge Of Resistance

  21. DJ Promo vs Digital Boy - Serious Damage

  22. Neophyte - Braincracking

  23. G-Shock - Demons (Promo Remix)

  24. Denekamps Gespuis - Gas Met Die Zooi (Tha Playah Remix)

  25. Menace II Society meets Catscan - Chronic Counter

  26. Neophyte & Tha Playah - Great Success

  27. Neophyte, Tieum & Rob Gee - Coming At You Strong

I can say in all honesty, that Jason's mix contains the records I was desperate to hear. They were the songs I wanted to hear, and I'm glad that I found this mix. There's also another reoccurring theme here, don't know if you've spotted it? Jason seems to love records made by Tha Playah, or have his involvement. So many of Tha Playah can be found in here, but it's all great tracks!

I love Millennium Hardcore. More melodic, more hands-in-the-air moments compared to present day Hardcore. Nowadays it's too rough, too hard. We should look back 10-20 years and listen to what was made back then, and bring it back to life. The music was top notch. I remember hearing these at multiple raves, and the crowd would loose themselves. Raving Nightmare in Maastricht was so dope. Hearing Neophyte play the classics, it was my kind of Heaven, and it's like Jason heard my cry for 'help' and made a mix so damn good: it takes me right back to the early 2000s.

Only love and appreciation for this mix. He mentioned that he would do a second mix, but it seems that it might appear soon. Can't wait for the second volume. The first one was great!

Can't find any flaws. A few small mixing errors, or it could even be recording errors, but nothing to write home about. The message behind this mix is still present and can clearly be heard: Millennium Hardcore will be with us forever and ever, and is timeless music. And to some it might even be the best out there.

What's your opinion? 90s, 2000s, or 10/20s Hardcore? And what do you think of this mix?

Best record? 'Redemption'. Boy, that track just ticks all the boxes of being an all time classic!
