Painbringer - Hardcore & Gabber 2020 Mix

A new week has landed. A new week full of 'new' music I had to share with you all. And seeing as the weather is atrocious, I had to start the first review of this week with a bang. A Hardcore bang. And this mix was made by Painbringer back in 2020. As you all are aware, Painbringer makes very fine Hardcore anthems, in style with the sound which was alive back in the 90s. The mix obviously contains extremely hard and rough tracks, most of them made by Painbringer himself, but also made by a few others like M-Project, Omar Santana, Lockjaw, Ruffneck, Arjuna, and more. If you are like me and you want to start the week in good fashion, check this mix out (if you haven't already)....

This was originally a promo mix for Early Hardcore Goes Ibiza, an event held in... Ibiza (duh!). And it has had already a lot of plays, and good feedback. 21k+ plays on Soundcloud. And raving reviews. Do I jump the bandwagon and leave only positive critique? I might, I might have that tendency. You know I'm a sucker for everything early related, and when I hear a mix with so many great anthems in there, it just puts a smile on my face, from ear to ear.

The records in this set have got a specific sound, I would be inclined to call it Artcore. A style linked to the legendary DJ Ruffneck and his label, and thankfully kept alive by artists such as Painbringer. He brings the heat. A bit of the old, and a bit of the new, all crammed in an hour long mix. 27 records, selected and mixed by the bringer of pain himself.

So which records were chosen by Painbringer for this promo mix? Well, these:

  1. Painbringer - Hardcore Future

  2. Undercover Anarchist - The Craziest

  3. Innerchild - The Party Zone

  4. Painbringer - Words Of '95

  5. M-Project - Hardcore Maniac

  6. DJ Rob & Tim B - Get Set

  7. DJ Ruffneck - Massive

  8. Painbringer - The Alpha

  9. Trickster - Stop The Rhythm

  10. Lockjaw - The Point

  11. Painbringer - Inner War

  12. Cyntex - Freestyle

  13. DJ Ruffneck - 20 Bullits To Comply

  14. Arjuna - Who's In The House

  15. Omar Santana - World Domination

  16. The Prodigy - Voodoo People (Pendulum Remix)

  17. Painbringer - Everything Or Nothing

  18. Painbringer - In Your Memory

  19. Painbringer - Carlito's Way

  20. Innerchild - Who're You Fucking With

  21. Painbringer & MissBehave - Fuck You Up

  22. Arvid - Fuck That Feeling

  23. Arjuna - You Are A Sucker

  24. Enemycore909 - Inferno

  25. Reeza - Sanctity Of Life

  26. Painbringer - Afterglow

  27. Painbringer - Share Your Pain

A wonderful tracklist. But you cannot judge a mix just by the tracklist. You have to judge it by listening to it, and that's one of the things I would urge you to do. If you are into early Hardcore music, I surely suggest you check this out. Painbringer is a legend, and knows exactly what the fans want to hear.

Even in the year 2021 I still find the early sound so appealing. I cannot live in a world where the early sound does not exist. It just needs to be with me. I was raised during the 90s, and the sound has been so close to my heart. I grew up with it, and that's the sound I'll appreciate until the day I die. And artists such as Painbringer do a brilliant job in keeping it alive. This promo mix is filled with his own productions, so that gives us an insight in his own production capabilities. But trust me when I say that these are excellent.

So many wicked anthems. I just love this sound. You just can't imagine how a 37 year old Dutchman can get excited as much as me. The euphoria level has just risen 1000 points after the first second of this mix. And the songs are just absolute bliss. I am not lying. I never lie.

Painbringer's own records are top notch. Keeping the old style alive, yet with a twist. And they all sound so nostalgic and euphoric. Just the way I like my Hardcore music. But in this mix I have to give credit to Trickster for the finest record in this mix: 'Stop The Rhythm'. Such a beast of a song!

A very fine mix to start your week with. It certainly gave me enough of an energy boost to get me through the week, and make it to Friday in one piece! Quality mix, that's for sure. Powerful? That too! Thanks Painbringer for yet another epic mix!
