Today I've been a busy boy. A few reviews already, after a short hiatus. And just as I was about to shut down my iMac to enjoy this Christmas Eve, I stumbled upon this mix by Painbringer. You might have seen his name before, here and there. Obviously you have, you silly sausage: who doesn't know Painbringer? With his 'Words Of '95' song he took over the early Hardcore scene by storm, and has been providing us with excellent early Hardcore anthems, made in the present day. He's one of those producers/DJs that keeps the early sound alive and kicking, and for that I do praise him (and others that do so).
But to keep it alive and kicking isn't hard. Many can just download records from digital stores, and make an early Hardcore mix. Which is always good, don't get me wrong. But what producers like Painbringer are doing, is making new music that resembles the early Hardcore sound from the 90s. And that's impressive. Some do try and sadly make it not worthwhile. But producers like Maynor, CasketKrusher, and Painbringer do their best, and have found a platform to do it on. And people seem to love it a lot, for good reasons.
I am not sure what Rave Instinct is, but it looks to me to be a label on Bandcamp that releases early Hardcore songs by artists such as Painbringer, MD&A, Reeza, Lenz, Lockjaw, and more. Never heard of this label before, but I will surely follow it from now on. They have got some interesting releases planned for 2022, which you can find in Painbringer's latest mix.
Worth while checking this mix out, and press play. But before you do so, you want to know what's in store, right? So here's the tracklist!
Painbringer - Sidious
Painbringer - Final Annihilation (X-Fly Remix)
Arvid - Keep On
MD&A - Candyman
Painbringer - Back 2 Life (Morax Remix)
X-Fly - I'm Juggernaut, Bitch!
Arvid - System Reboot
Painbringer - Hyped Up (Lenz Remix)
Ferra - Mind Sensations
MD&A - Evil On You
Ferra & Greensequence - Hypnotize
Painbringer - Words Of '95 (Gabber Remix)
Arvid - Delivered From Evil
Ferra & Greensequencer - Never Too Much
This mix is only 30 minutes long, but this is a teasing mix, to show what will be released in 2022. Which is just around the corner, if truth be told. Before you know it, you can spend your pennies on Rave Instinct's website (which is Bandcamp). If you are liking this short mix, you will be happy to know 2022 is only around the corner, and it won't be long before you can purchase these records.
This mix has got everything you need, crammed into half an hour long mix, and that is also downloadable. Again, this is just a taster, so you won't get the full length songs, but at least it's a nice surprise to hear on Christmas Eve. This mix was uploaded yesterday, and already received good feedback so far, including yours truly (well, aren't I doing this review, eh?)
To end today with this mix is a good way to end the day. No more reviews from me, time to celebrate Xmas. And so should you. But before you do, why no give this mix a go, and check out Painbringer's Soundcloud channel and Rave Instinct's website? There might be more for you in store, if you love the early sound of course. If you don't, why the fuck are you reading this review?
A fantastic mix. Loving the tracks. Even the Gabber version of Painbringer's biggest hit so far. But Ferra's 'Mind Sensations' is my favourite one. And also 'Delivered From Evil' from Arvid. Big tune alert!
