Radiate - Ode To Offensive Records (Part 1) (2020)

Today I've got a day off, and what do you do? You stay indoors and do nothing. Well, that's what COVID is doing to us. We can't do a lot, but stay indoors, and with a dooming lockdown phase 2, we should get used to stay indoors even longer. There's not a lot of good quality stuff on TV, some good shows on digital platforms, but my focus is mainly Soundcloud and Mixcloud. I am a music whore, a prostitute. I just soak up music like a sponge. I can live without TV or social media, but I couldn't live without music.

One of the labels that I grew up with, was Offensive Records. A label run by the Godfather Paul Elstak, known for this specific sound. When Paul started making Happy Hardcore, his name appeared on my 'timeline' back in the 90s, and I started following him. I decided to give his harder side a chance, and I really liked it a lot. Most of his stuff is just pure, straight to the fucking bone, Hardcore. Sometimes a tad silly, and I cannot understand for life nor money this hooligan music business. But hey ho, he has made memorable tunes.

DJ Radiate has been on my radar for many years, and even thought I do not come across a lot of his mixes, but when I do, I have to grasp the music and let it dominate my day. And today is no exception. It's a dedication mix to Offensive Records, but mainly DJ Paul. DJ Paul and friends.

This is an hour long mix, and you should check this out. Unless you are not interested.

  • The Stunned Guys - Nothing Else Will Stand

  • Paul Elstak vs Adrien - Real Life

  • Hardcore Fundamentalists - Trapped In Darkness

  • DJ Paul Elstak - Rage

  • Paul Elstak vs The Headbanger - Your Mother Sucks Cocks In Hell

  • Paul Elstak - Now's The Fucking Time

  • DJ Paul vs Adrien - Piece Of Shit

  • Paul Elstak - Get Of The Fucking Car

  • Paul Elstak feat The Infamous - Die In Seven Days

  • Paul Elstak - I Had To Kill A Lot Of People

  • Paul Elstak & Firestone feat MC Ruffian - Ready For Judgment Day

  • The Stunned Guys, DJ Paul & MC Ruffian - Bombing Eardrumz

  • Paul Elstak feat Radiate & Beatstream - Angels Deserve To Die

  • Paul Elstak vs Tommyknocker - Danger Danger (Tommyknocker Mix)

  • Paul Elstak - Ik Haat Je (Offensive Mix)

  • DJ Paul presents - Offensive Trillah

  • Paul Elstak & Radiate - Dropping It

  • DJ Paul - ACAB vs Hardcore Hooligans

See, I did tell you that, despite this being an 'Offensive Records' mix, it's an all Paul Elstak appreciation mix. But does that bother you? Does that really bother you? It shouldn't, so shut up, and press play. Let the music dominate your Thursday!

I did enjoy it. And in a strange way, each and every record had this distinctive sound, so familiar, and you can immediately tell it's a record released by Offensive. The Rotterdam sound is so well known, and some love it, or hate it. But you cannot deny that it's not hard.

Some of the records selected by Radiate are really ace, like 'Angels Deserve To Die', 'Bombing Eardrumz','Ik Haat Je', and more. A good selection to show what the label was and still is capable of. And if you are digging the tracklist, you will certainly love the mix. Mixed together OK, nothing negative to mention there.

The best record is 'Dropping It'. A nice tribute to the late and great 3 Steps Ahead. Pure dancefloor slammer. But, as mentioned before, 'ACAB vs Hardcore Hooligans', that's certainly not my cup of tea. I just don't get it, this hooliganism in Hardcore. But hey ho, I don't follow football either, I don't have a clue what is offside and what isn't. So I could be talking out of my ass.

Anyway, a nice mix to certainly wake you up on this dreary Thursday afternoon.
