Syntax Error - 00's UK Hardcore Favourites Pt. 2 (2025)

Happy New Year. Is it still OK to wish you all a happy 2026? Who knows. You could be reading this review on the day of its release (02.01.2026) or later in the year. If you are reading this later in the year, apologies, this intro wasn't meant for you to be read today. But what can you consider to be for you, whenever you read this review? The mix you are about to press play on, made by Jezz Toon a.k.a. Syntax Error. If you love UK Hardcore, you will be extremely excited to hear this!

I am currently working from home, and as I'm the only one (all my colleagues are off), I can do what I like. Even my wife is on annual leave, so I can literally just crank up the volume, and have a party in my office. And that's exactly what happened. Not really cranked up the volume, as I am still considering my wife asleep in the other room. But now she's awake, so the volume goes up, and let's 'ave it!

What a way to start the year. First mix of the year, a mix dedicated to UK Hardcore. Does that mean 2026 will be a good year? I do hope so. Syntax Error's mix does contain the big hits from back in the day, and a few lesser known or forgotten tracks. The tracklist might put a smile on your face, but I'm doubtful it will be as big of a grin as the one you can see in the image above!

It is a good looking tracklist. And Syntax Error indeed put a lot of tracks in here I've not heard before, especially the first few tracks. But then the party really starts, and it's hit after hit.

It's a good glimpse into our UK Hardcore history, and how great the music used to be. I do miss it a lot. I might sound like an old man now, but they don't make them like they used to. And that's the truth. These 16 songs have got this distinctive sound they don't use anymore. And it makes me wonder why? The music was good enough, and the sound should have been kept alive, forever and ever!

Syntax Error's mix is a very pleasant one, and I've been listening to this one throughout my day. It has made the first working day (for me) of 2026 a more pleasant one. There are a few mixing errors, which is a bit of a pity, as the tracks are all solid. Especially 'Doesn't Matter', that's certainly a timeless masterpiece.
