Hardcore To The Bone Best Of 01 - 09 (2024)

It's Sunday evening. It's dark and cold outside. And for a huge part of the UK, it's very windy outside. Hope everyone is staying comfortably inside, and doesn't go out when not needed. Stay indoors, I've got you covered. I've got something special for you all to listen to. Someone pointed out to me that this mix existed. And that someone is the one who actually made this mix. Infrasound is the name of the DJ, and the DJ decided to make a fantastic mix, focussed on the noughties. And before you all get too excited and think it's about European Hardcore: no, it's not. This mix is dedicated to UKHC, and the best years of UKHC: 2001 to 2009.

It initially came without a tracklist, but Infrasound was kind enough to create one. I decided to give it a go, and now it's been on repeat since this morning. And I'm not the only one who has discovered this mix: it has already had fantastic responses to it. It contains 36 records in a 2 hour and 40 minute long mix. No quick mix, just a mix that takes its time for each record. And I love that. But it's not the length which makes the mix worth while or not: it's all about the records. And that's the main question here...

Are they good? Short answer: yes. Obviously, if you are to make a mix dedicated to a magical decade, you need to bring out the big guns, the big hits, and Infrasound has done exactly that. Nearly 3 hours of pure, undiluted UKHC anthems. And as a connoisseur of UKHC, I do know a good mix when I look at the tracklist, and this tracklist is sexy. Truly sexy, and full of the big hits. And that's certainly going to put a smile on your face. Well, I'm sitting here with a smile on my face, so I bet you that you will have the same smile on your face. If not, give it some time.

Told you that this mix was filled with the big hits, didn't I? My God, this is a fantastic looking tracklist, and the mix itself is great too, but we'll get to that in a minute. But for now, let's acknowledge the tracklist and the sheer quality of anthems picked. They dominated our lives throughout the noughties, and did make us extremely happy. Why did it go away, this kind of UKHC? Why does time move forward, and why can't we rave like we did in the noughties?

This could have also been an appreciation mix for the biggest names in the scene. As you've noticed, there's a lot of repeating names, like Brisk & Ham, Dougal & Gammer, Breeze & Styles, Scott Brown, and more. But there's a good reason for that: they made UKHC into this wonderful thing. Without their music, we would not be anywhere. And I'm not 100% sure, but would we even be as big as we were? They were, and still are, very influential producers/DJs.

Infrasound's selection is great. Credit where credit is due. This is the ultimate big hit UKHC mix. It doesn't get any better than this. Fantastic mix, and no errors or anything that might ruin the experience.

There's just too many great songs to pick from. I like them all. Some more than others, but they are still highly appreciated. No, I cannot pick one record, I simply cannot. You try and pick one from 36 amazing records. It's difficult.

A solid mix. I don't care if the weather is turning outside, as long as we are inside, and the speakers are playing this mix, all is well in the world. Nothing can mess it up. Hopefully.
