I've been silent for most of this week. I had a wedding last weekend, so I had to recover for a few days, but the weather has also turned. Positive for most, I'm OK with it. I do prefer the cold though. But at least I don't melt, or burn that easily. Or worst: turn red! But it is hot outside. We are sitting indoors when writing this review, and the fans are on. No time to enjoy the sunshine, but at least I'm doing something useful. And what I'm doing needs to resemble the current climate: it needs to be sunny, and relaxing. Et voila: a mix focussed on Ibiza classic anthems. You might appreciate hearing these tunes when the weather is very nice?
For those that know me, they know I have travelled all through Europe. Visited a few countries over the few decades I've been on this planet. But never have I been to Ibiza. I have read stories about it being the place to be, and there have been a fair few documentaries about it on TV and online, but yeah, I've never been,
I did buy albums over the years, dedicated to Ibiza and the awesome club scene, but never felt the urge to go to it. My philosophy was: don't need to go to Ibiza to hear those tunes, I can stay in the Netherlands and hear them too! Or Italy. Or Greece. But it must have been a different experience, being on the island, dancing the day away, and turn the night into something unexpected?

Oh, these tracks. Back in the early 2000nd I would have adored them to such an extent, that I would be playing them every day. Not needed anymore, because they are literally everywhere nowadays. Can't turn the radio on without hearing them, or can't play a mix without them appearing. They are indeed timeless classics, and they are here to stay.
They are solid Trance anthems, and yes, timeless. They have slowly become everyone's favourite tracks of all time, and for good reasons. Would any of the artists know when they made their tracks, that they would still be listened to, praised, and loved many decades after their original release date?
I really enjoyed this mix, even though I have heard these tunes a billion times at least. Biff643, whoever that might be, has made a wicked mix with the classics in them. He wasn't lying. They are the classics, and maybe in another few decades we might appreciate them less, but we aren't at that stage yet. Or they could become even bigger tracks, and are played on the radio 24/7, and even banish the standard Christmas music etc? Who knows?
I am glad I grew up when I did, and it gave me the opportunity to experience the music being released, and being amazed for the first time. Yes, I might not have been to Ibiza, but at least I felt the power behind each track. And when Gouryella hit the clubs all over the Netherlands.... it hit me too! What a monster anthem!
