Tiesto's Top 30 Trance Classics (2.5hour MegaMix) (2015)

Saturday, the day before Sunday. Normally that means absolutely nothing, but to me it means a lot. Tomorrow it is time for me to go to Silverworks in London, next to the Thames, and party my ass off. I've said it in the last few reviews, and I'm getting more and more excited. Maybe you are not a Tiesto fan, or maybe you once were, but not anymore. But I have been since the late 90s. and have listened to many of his mixes, and had the pleasure to witness him at Innercity in 2000, only one year after he had his breakthrough moment. And now he is one established name in the industry.

During the Millennium years I was an avid Tiesto fan, and bought many of his singles (yes, you could buy tracks individually, on round discs!), and of course did I buy his own albums, but not all of them. I am not made of money. But I was a fan, no doubt about that. Him, Ferry Corsten and Armin van Buuren dominated my life, 20+ years ago, and have not left me alone since. Yes, they might have some stints during which they make something I do not like, and that's cool. But for the majority they've been around, and it has been pleasant ever since.

I've been listening to a lot of his sets lately, and special dedicated mixes, and I'm getting hyped about tomorrow. I've read somewhere that he might do a special set, going back to his roots, but you never know. And when I say, going back to his roots, I mean the tracks in this mix I found on YouTube, from 2015. I found a few others, but wasn't sure if it was actually mixed by someone, or AI made it. This one looks to have been made by someone called Thermometer10, which is an unusual name, that's for sure.

If this doesn't get me happy for tomorrow, nothing will. A full on, top 30 of Tiesto records. It is insane to hear those again, and hopefully (I am very sceptical), tomorrow Tiesto will bring these to Silverworks Island in London.

He has certainly left a mark on the Trance industry. And whoever it is behind this mix, he/she capture it nicely in a 2 1/2 hour long mix. Roughly the length of Tiesto's set tomorrow. I hope he brings his early Trance records. The weather will be great, the location will be awesome, let the music be the cherry on top of it all!

The mix is great. So many great anthems, but I'm also missing a few. And also a few in here which weren't my favourite, but you have to admire that Tiesto came a long way, and even played at the Olympics. Come on, that's big baller stuff. 'Athena' and 'Olympic Flame' might be the weakest of them all, it is still an achievement. Thankfully the one track i despise isn't in here, the one with Kane.

Which is in here, is the opening track. 'Ten Seconds Before Sunrise'. His CDs always had a wicked opening track, and this one is certainly one that works well, as opening track. Slow when it comes to the build up, but sometimes that enough. No fancy smancy stuff, but just pure Tramce. And that track is, to me, the best one in this mix. Closely followed by 'He's A Pirate'. Maybe because I'm a Disney fan?

The mix itself isn't flawless, which is a pity. It could have been so much better. But it clenched a thirst I had, and only a few hours until me and the wife make our way to Silverworks, and hear the real deal. Oh, I'm getting excited!
