If you follow me on Twitter, you know I'm a huge fan of Fallout 4. I was only given a Playstation on Christmas last year, and I think I became a fan of it after seeing videos of it on Youtube. As a surprise, the wife got me Fallout 4. Thankfully not 76, because many seem to dislike it. But 4 got my attention in the first place, and now I'm playing it whenever I can. Now, for those who consider themselves gaming fanatics, let me warn you, I'm still a noob. I've got prior to this game no gaming experience whatsoever, and thankfully we will not discuss the game, but only one tiny feature that is present in this game, and gets a lot of plays on Soundcloud and Youtube: Diamond City Radio! I still need to discover all the perks of this game, but what I can tell you is that I'm addicted. Truly addicted. And I'm in love with the music they used for this 'radio' station. I've been listening to this for weeks now, not only during me playing the actual game, but there are plenty of channels on Youtube and Soundcloud dedicated to the game. You can literally find everything on here. So what kind of music can you hear? Old music. Classic music. Timeless music. But also music that will remain in your head, long after you stopped playing the game. Someone on Youtube made this video, and all the track names are in chronological order. The Three Suns - Worry Worry Worry Funny side note: a couple of weeks ago, me and the wife went to Bletchley Park, the famous location where they 'cracked' the Enigma code, and we had afternoon tea there. Guess what kind of music they played? Correct. This kind of music. Well, not the saucy and sexual tinted tracks, but the 'clean' records. It gave me a nice feeling: small sandwiches, small tea, in a nice location, with Fallout 4 music. My kind of heaven. Some of these records are so unique and cool, you might even think that they have been specifically written for the Fallout series, but you've got to remember that when these were originally released, the world was focussed on atomic/nuclear power and the devastation a nuclear bomb creates. It was a different time, a Third World War was closeby. So it might appear to be specifically made for this game, but it wasn't. It was just the state of the world back then. Such a different world. How cool is it, that music can take you back to this world in an instant? You don't need to be at Bletchley Park to feel like you are in the 40s and 50s. You just need to close your eyes and listen to this. And another amazing thing is that the tunes were short, compared to the music nowadays. But within the shortness it packs a punch. I love the fact that these tunes are catchy as hell! Nothing like the top 40 from today. The tunes will be forgotten easily, but not these tunes. Yes, they might sound dated, but they will outlive many of the artists who release music in the 10s. I'm so addicted to this: I can literally sing along each and every record! And at the moment this kind of music is my favourite! Yes, EDM and everything EDM related I love, but my passion lies now with the 40s and 50s music. And Fallout should get some credit, for making me aware of this kind of music. Not something you would look out for, or hear on the radio at all. Which is my favourite record? 'Pistol Packin Mama' by Bing Crosby. So darn catchy. Ah hell, it might be 20+ degrees outside, but this reviewer will not leave the house: I must revisit Diamond City, and just relax. Who needs the sunshine when you have got Fallout 4? Whilst the majority of ravers are destroying their braincells and feet at Defqon.1 right now, there must be a few out there who do not appreciate the harder styles, and rather have some soothening beats coming through their speakers. Now, I've got something special for you. A set from the once number 1 DJ in the world, DJ Tiësto. And what he did back in 2003 shook the world to its core! Nothing like it happened before. 1 DJ,1 event, 8 hours, 25.000 ravers. Pure and unadulterated madness. DJ Tiësto in Concert. One event I really wanted to go to, but I couldn't get tickets (I was too late, sold out really quickly). But I found snippets of his set on Soundcloud. ID&T created a lot of amazing memories with their events, but this one has given me special memories: I couldn't go, but I stayed at home, listening to the radio (3FM) and recorded the whole 8 hours on cassette. I had to switch every half an hour to the other side, and skip the news or adverts, but I stayed awake for this. And I remember it like it was yesterday. Headphones on, because my mum and dad were upstairs asleep. And I was raving my ass off. DJ Tiësto was a boss back in the days. He dominated the Trance scene, and when I witnessed him for the first time at Innercity, I knew that he was the best. He delivered so many great anthems over the years, memorable, and still considered Trance classics. Back in 2003 he was at the hight of his carreer (when he still focussed on the Trance side of things, and not EDM). Many looked up to him, and wanted to be him. He was everything a young beginning DJ wanted to be: a superstar DJ from the Netherlands. I had no talent. The only thing I had was a passion for music. I still love music to the bone. Can't make anything, I just appreciate it. And during his set he played so many memorable anthems. Worth checking out. Please remember that these sets are separated in two bits. I was one of the listeners, and when I heard this set coming through my speakers, I felt like a 20 year old kid again. Fuck, I wish I bought a ticket for this and went. This was next level stuff! Tiësto dominated everything! He was a GOD behind the decks. Also, the recording isn't really in high quality. Probably taken from a cassette. Which lowers the quality tremendously. But still you can soak up the atmosphere in the Gelredome. He did his thing, and the crowd loved it. And 16 years later (can you believe it?) there are still people out there who cannot stop listening to this set. Did someone record the whole Tiësto set by any chance, is it somewhere on the internet? I know there's a DVD of the concert, but I reckon it's only max an hour long. Who's got the 8 hours? Who? You have got to remember that this was the first ever concert where the DJ was the main focus. Not many. Just one. DJ Tiësto. He was the main focus of the night. He did what had to be done: make history. The announcer at the beginning of his set was spot on. I still get goosebumps hearing him announce DJ Tiësto. But also the whole set. Brilliant from start to finish. I remember DJ Tiësto touching some continents. You can hear African Male Voice Chants towards the end of the recording. Don't know any other continents he 'visited' (or if he did ALL of them). But what I do remember is that it broke the show into bits. You can't expect Tiësto to give himself and not have a toilet break. Christ, he's a God, but even a God needs a toilet visit. What Tiësto did is truly astonishing. It was a risk by ID&T but it paid off. 25.000 tickets sold, a memorable night created. It's a shame he's chosen a different path, but maybe, if he listens back to his set, he might change his mind. Tiësto, come back. We need more night like this one. Best record? There are a few. But I would give 'Solid Globe - North Pole' the credit. Such a wicked and underrated Trance classic. And also 'Solar Factor - Urban Shakedown'. It is Saturday, and it doesn't really matter. It's another day within the second lockdown period, so nothing much is happening around the world. Here in London it's kind of boring. It's a new level of non existing excitement. Or should I say a new low? The internet is the only thing that can bind us all together, and it can connect people from all over the world. And sometimes it's necessary, like the other day when my nan died, and we had to watch her funeral during a livestream. It's odd, I know, but at least we are 'there'. We can still be linked to one and another during this COVID period. But gabbers, they were always connected. At raves during the 90s and early 2000s they were the biggest friends club in the whole universe. There's wasn't much hatred or anger, we all danced throughout the night. Yes, we might have looked a tad odd with our track suits and bald heads, but we couldn't care less: this was our thing. And at the centre of this all, was the music. And even to this day we hold it close to our hearts: it's as dear to us as air is to other humans. We embrace the early sound, and play it until our final breath. Hardcore 4 Life. That's our motto. Now, I only found this mix a few hours ago, but I had to check it out. It's a mix made by Funky Frank. I do not know anything about this DJ, but what I do know is that he used a shit ton of classic anthems. And when I say classics, I do mean classics. You would probably find the same songs on your standard, run of the mill, top 40 Hardcore CD. You know, those CDs that are only made to get money out of your pocket, nothing much. Those 'special' CDs that everyone already has, but still buys, to add to their collection. If you were around during the 90s and you were a gabber/raver, you will enjoy this tracklist. You certainly will! Yes, some do not fall technically under the early Hardcore tag, but more like Happy Hardcore, and some listeners do find that annoying, but it was still part of the early 90s. Love or hate it, even those cheesy tunes were part of this culture at one stage, and featured on many Hardcore compilations. The last track, which is a bonus track, is obviously the biggest top 40 hit for any Hardcore anthem, and you will immediately know which song I am talking about. I do like Frank's selection. Immediately I felt a few years younger, and high on life. So damn Hardcore I was back then. It is funny, but yet I am still Hardcore. Might be a tad podgier but Hardcore music still runs through my veins. I might not be able to do the specific dance for hours, but 10 mins of Hakkuh is still sufficient enough to show the young kids how to do it. So the tracklist is good, but is the mix good? Yes and no. The tracks are good, but there are a shit ton of mixing errors here. And I do mean a lot. You would maybe expect to hear them on a dodgy cassette from the early 90s, but not in the 2020s. I know Funky Frank was eager to make this mix, but it's not a flawless mix. That's a shame though. Maybe worth checking this mix out, if you want to feel slightly nostalgic. You might need to sieve through the errors. But if you want to do that, you might like this mix more than I do at the moment. Sometimes I wonder how I could miss big sets, seeing as I'm online nearly 24/7. I could have missed this one because it's a Youtube video, and I don't watch videos as much as I should. But a good friend of mine (onderkoffer) has reminded me yet again I should be watching this. A must listen to set. And the main reason for that being that the set was done by the mighty Mark Archer. Yes, one half of Altern 8. And if you remember, I've interviewed him a couple of months ago. Worth checking out too! But for now it's his set at the Boiler Room in Nottingham. I've seen the concept before and it looks interesting and scary at the same time. The DJ is the centre of attention, and literally stands amongst the crowd. Not high up on a stage, but where the ravers are. This edition they asked Mark Archer to play an hour long set, and seeing him during the set, he seems to have a brilliant time. Loving the reactions from the crowd around him, but also making sure they were treated to the finest oldschool classics. And the crowd, well, they were having it. Mark behind the decks is a good promise. He's been around for decades and knows exactly how to please but also surprise the fans. When he throws in a classic that everyone loves, the crowd go mad. Mark has got such a lovely atmosphere around him: I reckon he's such a legend in real life. Not only music wise though. (just see how many people shake his hand or fist bump him). The set contains the finest yet well known records, but even though we've heard them a million times, they still rock. Hence why we hear them over and over again: these anthems take us back to the forgotten decade, the decade when everything was possible. We were free. We were alive. We were unique. And it's all down to music legends like Mark Archer. I can only give the man credit for a wicked set. Smiles for miles. And it's such a joy to hear these classics still being played out loud! These records do deserve a stage every week. I reckon the artists who made these never knew they were going to be played decades after. Some transitions are just beyond belief. But that's all down to experience: over the years he has perfected his craft, and he makes it look like a duddle. So easy. But don't forget, he's been active for decades! Mark is a legend. His set is amazing. His enthusiasm and dedication is just beyond belief. We need more sets like this one. I’m doing something unique, something I might have done only once or twice before: review a review. What does that involve, you might wonder? Well, it’s basically a mix I have already reviewed before being reviewed again. But would I review any ordinary mix? Nah, that’s not my cup of tea: only the finest of the finest will get a re-review. And I think that this one is one of the greatest Trance mixes I have ever heard in my life! It was released last year on DJ Midas’ Mixcloud page, and it had a fair amount of plays, but I reckon the majority were my fault. I have downloaded this and copied it onto my USB stick, but sadly now my car doesn’t have the option to use more than 1 USB port. So it’s either my phone (which I need for my satnav) or the USB stick. And I rather use the satnav, if I’m honest. But thankfully I can use the Mixcloud app to play it, and it gives me the opportunity to make every journey exciting. Does that mean my journeys are 4 hours long? Nah, not really. But still it makes it worth while. And every bloody time I press play again. I can’t contain my happiness. This is, without a doubt, the dopest mix out there. It contains the finest Anjunabeats records money can buy, and they were selected (and mixed) together beautifully by DJ Midas. Normally he’s all into UK Hardcore and Happy Hardcore, but for this mix he went a completely different route, and it’s a route he should take more often. I can not underline the fact that this mix is one of the greatest ever. But I will.  This is one of the greatest mixes ever!  There, I’ve done it. Anyway, the music in this tracklist is pure bliss. I’ve enjoyed every time I have heard this mix. And it’s one of those mixes I have heard many times, over and over, and it wouldn’t disappoint me. If there’s a heaven I picture the angels playing this mix. Or just this mix. This is heaven in its purest form. The quality of the tunes is beyond belief, but we are all aware that Anjunabeats releases excellent music. They create masterpieces (well, the artists do, but you know what I mean). They give artists the platform they deserve. And by doing so they give us the music we need to survive our endless life. But what a way to live your life: press play and you will enter a new dimension, one you have not discovered before. Last year I mentioned my favourite record, and it still is the same. Above & Beyond’s ‘Can’t Sleep’ is a good ‘un, but still nothing can beat this seriously amazing record ‘Meet Me In Montauk’, remixed by Oliver Smith. This, to me, is probably one of the greatest Trance records ever made. If we could experience euphoria, this track is the way to do it. Let the music cover you and take you on a magical trip. You don’t need mushrooms to get high, just this one track. Or get high on this mix. DJ Midas has made a stunning mix I HAD to share again. Underrated slightly, but there’s still time to appreciate quality. And also quantity: 41 records in 4 hours. Gabberhead. A label from the 90s. One that originally ran from 1996 to 1997, according to the Discogs information available, and then got revived in 2018. The Gabberhead could never be buried, it had to come back to life. And the life it's been having since it was brought back, has been a tremendous one. I've been seeing a lot of posts online about new releases, and they bring me lots of joy. The early sound, kept alive in 2025. Hell yes! Gabber in the 90s came to an abrupt end toward the end of 1998. Deserved or not, it had to go underground to emerge as one of the fiercest sounds out there. But don't we sometimes wish the 90s sound was kept alive? Thankfully there are a few labels out there who do just that. Keeping it alive and kicking. And Gabberhead is just that one label that does that, and does it with brute force. Unbelievable amount of releases since they emerged out of the slumber. Now, the mix I've been listening to, was made by keytown connection. Unfortunately not seen or heard that name before, but keytown connection had a few releases on the label, and in this appreciation mix will you find a few of them. And obviously a few more. But don't let the amount of tracks in this mix fool you: it's only 53 minutes long. Long enough to keep you on your toes, and relive the 90s again. And for them doing so, I give them all the love and appreciation. As it's a sound we do sorely miss. It is a fantastic mix with a lot of new stuff that is made to represent the 'old'. And the old always remains the finest. To me it feels like discovering an old album I've not heard in years, under a huge pile of dust. And after pressing play, you know it will all go down extremely well! Volume on max, weather atrocious (and thundering too), but you cannot spoil my gabber enthusiasm with anything negative. This is the happiest I can be today. The Keytown Connection has picked some wicked records here. Including their own. So many familiar chords from the 90s, so many familiar kicks, drums, and many more. They suit the 90s extremely well. The track that got me the most hyped up, is of course the first one in this mix. 'Drifting Failing'. So happy, but oh so good. Just the right amount of bounce and oomph. A fantastic mix to end the week with. And remember kids, Hardcore will never die. I am a huge fan of Sied van Riel. And I'm not kidding. I'm rielly a massive fan. Since I discovered his 'In Riel Time' trailer (which was for his upcoming album back in the day), I was hooked. I freaking LOVED that album, and every album he's rieliesed ever since. His sets and his mixes have been tremendously great, and a couple of days ago, I went onto Amazon Music to find them all, and I was so happy to discover his first 'Rielism' album on there. I had to give it another listen, and one listen turned out to be at least 45 listens up until now. Sied van Riel is a legend. He's been a bit quiet over the last couple of years, not really sure what happened. But his albums sure aren't quiet. They, to me, are the greatest things to have come out of the Trance scene. Sied van Riel is a gift to us all, and his album surely embraced his impact on the Trance scene back in 2011. Can't believe this album is 14 years old! Hell, his 'In Riel Time' album is 16 years old?! Has it been 16 years since I discovered his music? Obviously, me being a fan of Sied, I've got all his albums, listened to his songs over and over on YouTube and Soundcloud, and even owned a bit of his merchandise, but unfortunately the dryer shrunk my clothes, or I've gained weight. I blame the dryer. From a musical point of view, I am in awe of this man and his music. He's made so many awesome records up until he gone quiet. To me, this is a glorious mix. Perfect at any given time. Sied did his best to compose this album, and the result is an astonishing album, one to be proud of. Certainly something to be proud of. I've had this mix on repeat (both CDs) for days now. The Sun is glazing through the blinds, and the heat inside this newbuild is unbearable, but the music makes it worthwhile. You can just imagine yourself, on a beach or a club, hearing these tunes. Sun on your skin, drink in one hand, and the other hand way up in the air. This is Heavenly music, that's for sure. And the album is a masterpiece. It is as good as 'In Riel Time' and all the other albums in the 'Rielism' series. But unfortunately they came to an end, and also Sied's music career. I've had a quick look, and he decided to give it up, and lead a 'normal' life. Respect for the man, but hopefully he does know how much of a loss it is, not having his input in the music scene. Get rid of all the other DJs, give me Sied any day! As this is a 2 disc CD, let me pick one from each album. And you might think it's difficult, but it's dead easy. There are two tracks so good, they outweigh themselves compared to the other tracks. 'Circular Progression' by Vinson. My Gawd, it's like the angels are singing to me. Beautiful record. Without a shadow of a doubt, the best of CD 1. 'ID 22' has to be the best from the second disc. What a catchy tune that is. Won't leave my head for days. It's sad to see Sied not being a producer, DJ and label owner, but I hope he's happy. And I'm happy if he's happy. At least we've got the Rielism CDs. They are just so damn magical. To me, and that's a personal opinion, they are the finest Trance CDs out there. If you haven't checked this CD out yet, you should do that. I urge you to do so. You will not be disappointed. It's been a fantastic weekend. The weather was perfect, and we even found the time to have a BBQ. And during the BBQ, guess what was on? A smashing Trance mix. Whilst a lot of people are watching Glastonbury, I am not. I am easily entertained with a solid Trance mix. I don't need anything else. And that's exactly what happened today. I discovered this mix a few weeks ago, but only found the time today to give it a go. And it was certainly worth it. At the beginning of this year I reviewed a mix by Legacy Trance, and I think that was my introduction to the channel. Now, a few month into 2025, it's time for the follow up review. This time a brand spanking new mix with some awesome Trance classics. Can't go through a week without listening to at least one awesome mix, and it is looking great for Legacy Trance's mix. The tracklist is a seriously insane looking one. When I say this mix is good, I do mean it. It might be extremely hot today and the next few days, but let's raise the temperature even higher. Make sure you are in an airco cooled environment, because it's going to be hot. Obviously not helping that this mix is dope AF. It's got some serious bangers in here. They are the classics I wanted to hear, and I urge everyone to listen to. This is a serious mix with some awesome tracks. Yes, it even includes a few I've not heard before, but don't worry, I am very open-minded and can appreciate everything. This is the perfect mix to listen to when you are preparing food for the BBQ, or when you are in charge of the BBQ. We live in a new estate and not many people were around, so we could enjoy the music. At the same time, the food was sizzling and getting ready to be devoured, and the whole garden was blue. The sun was also beating on our bodies, but that's nothing to worry about. As long as the music is good, every negative becomes a positive. There are a lot of wicked tunes in here. And what a way to start your mix. 'My Lexicon'. Christ, that's a solid start. And it goes on and on, track after track. The two which stood out the most, were 'Children Of The Sun' and 'Confirmation'. You don't see them that often in other mixes. Are they under appreciated? To me, they are the best two tracks in this mix, bar none. It's a fantastic mix, and I cannot wait for the next one. I do believe Legacy Trance's mix was the first one to kick off the new Year, and I hope that channel keeps on releasing new mixes. I am addicted, and I love it. I need more Trance. More, I tell you. Saturday evening. It is hot, and clammy. And today, a lot of people have gone raving. Of course with a mix that contains 39 records, there will be multiple excellent records, and during the 90s one of the records that dominated and penetrated my eardrums the most, was 'Guyver' by Tellurian. 'Used & Abused' was also a big hit. I don't need to mention 'I Wanna Be A Hippy', that's too obvious. But to me, going back to the Earthquake CDs, 'Who's Afraid Of The Noise' by Ceasefire. Completely forgot this one even existed. How good is that track? J.O.E. made a fabulous mix with some serious Hardcore bangers. Mokum Records surely was one of the greatest labels in the Netherlands during the 90s, and is still loved and appreciated by many. This mix will surely be on repeat for the upcoming days. It kind of sucks. Sorry Ronski Speed, but that's not a good song. On their own, yes. Blended together, no. The one track that I really liked, is untitled. It's the last record in this mix. I'm guessing the title is 'Yeke Yeke', but that track really does something to me. Reminds me of the original, and the original is a dope ass song. TranceAdikt has made a very interesting mix. One minor song, but don't let that put a downer on the whole mix. It's just one song, and you are getting 21 in total! Hell, maybe you will even like the one I didn't. It is Wednesday, and I'm off today. Which is obviously a glorious thing. I'm highly recommend taking a day mid week off. But we've got family coming over, so we have been awake for hours now, making the house shiny and sparkly. During those chores, I require some hard to the core music, to give me the power and energy to do the job, and he job needs to be done properly. Thank the Lord for Soundcloud and one of the latest mixes I've found, as that one brought me a lot of joy and happiness. I am a DJ Promo fan. I love his Millennium work. That shit is just next level. He has been the pioneer we needed during those rough years for Hardcore, and he gave us everything our hearts desired. But we often forget that he started making music mid 90s. Actually, according to Discogs, he started back in 1992. So he's been around for quite a while now. And those 90s anthems tend to be forgotten, mostly. And for no apparent reason. I fell in love with DJ Promo's music when he released 'Shut Up!', which was 1997. And stayed in love ever since. It's been an amazing journey, and as much as I love his Millennium music, the 90s should not be underestimated. He has made some wicked anthems which have stood the test of time. And as I grew up with his music, he deserves more recognition for his 90s music. Thankfully DJ Ad made a mix which contains only his early Hardcore work. A short yet very sweet mix to listen to. And they have stood the test of time. They are fantastic, and as much as they sound different to the Millennium sound, in which he became the leader, I sometimes prefer the 90s sound. Hell, even he made the decision to make and release a new song, which sounds like the 90s Promo style (Thunder In My Heart). It personal preference. You might not prefer his 90s style, and prefer his Millennium sound. Or you could love both. It all boils down to personal preference, and to me any Promo anthem suits me. The weekend is about to end, another working week only a few hours away. In April of this year I discovered a new channel on Soundcloud. One that goes by the name of Dave Junglist. And his promo mix for an event focussed on the oldskool was very tasty, very great to listen to. But now he's stepped it up a notch, and gone all out. And when I say all out, I do mean all out. A Slammin Vinyl history mix, focussed on the year 1992 to 1995. And trust me when I say, those are some amazing years. Slammin Vinyl was, and stil is a very prolific label that has done a lot for the raving community. In 1992 I was only 8 or 9 years old, so not fully aware of what Rave music was, and what kind of influence it would have on me years later, but I'm glad I eventually caught up on the awesome music that was released one this label. And of course, the music made by Red Alert & Mike Slammer, that's just next level stuff. Not really sure what happened to these two legendary producers, but after 1996 nothing was released anymore. Anyone have an idea what happened? Dave Junglist is taking us back to the wonderful years. And I'm jealous of everyone who was old enough at the time, who went raving like no one did before, and danced until their feet started to bleed, and the sun came up again. These tunes are so awesome, decades after their initial release, they still have the power to get me moving. The fast paced elements are just awesome. Red Alert & Mike Slammer took raving to the next level. This isn't the first mix I've listened to, which focusses on Slammin Vinyl, and it won't be the last. I hope to hear more of these, for however long I might be alive. This is music made for the raving community, and they have become timeless classics. No messing about, just straight into the Hardcore. You would expect me to say 'Ruff!!' or ''Original Bad Boy'', but you are wrong. 'Ruffer!!!' is the anthem I'm into today. Januskopf. That's a highly unusual name, but a name which is making waves in the music scene. His first two UKHC mixes were very well received by yours truly, and 1 month ago did he upload a set which he did in October of 2024 at UNIT in Breda (The Netherlands). And it's a fantastic one. No, it's not UKHC or early UKHC, but early Hardcore! A 3 hour long set, all vinyl, and all Hardcore & Gabber anthems. A surprising set I wasn't ready for, but I highly appreciated from the first play. From a mix focussed on the Millennium UKHC sound, to Trance records from the legendary Trance Energy event, to this glorious early Hardcore set. I'm reliving my youth today! And it's a fantastic trip down memory lane. Januskopf has selected 58 records for his vinyl only set. I don't know much about the location, as I've never been or heard of it before (I have heard of Breda though. Would be a tad weird for a Dutch person NOT to know Breda). Trance Energy. Still to this day I'm not sure if I've been or not I must have been, right? I was such an ID&T fan back in the day, and I've been to a few of their events. But most of the late 90s and early 2000nd were a blur, and I've drank a lot of alcoholic beverages. I do believe I've been, but not 100% sure. And it's also not proven, as we didn't have mobile phones and required to take images constantly for Instagram, TikTok or Snapchat. No evidence unfortunately. So we have to assume. Obviously I grew up with the legendary name everywhere. But it started off very 'small', back in 1999. Slowly over the years it grew to a phenomena, an event you had to visit, if you loved Trance music. Over the years the organisation made some changes, even changed the name to 'Energy', to support other styles, but that did not do the event any justice. It faded away into obscurity, but it was never forgotten. The event had so many memorable anthems, and to many this event was the pinnacle of Trance music during the early 2000nd. I do love a set that is focussed on Trance Energy. The songs were just on another level, and so damn powerful. The Soundcloud channel Addicted To Trance uploaded this mix a few days ago, and I've already devoured the mix. Top play of course, and I will do so until my last breath. I am a die-hard gabber, but Trance is just more sublime to my ears, and I've got fond memories of those ID&T raves. The kids nowadays don't know what they are missing. So many compilations did I own, and these records were on each and every one of them. Christ, this is our magnus opus. This I can truly consider the greatest songs made during my youth. Yes, there might be one or two not so great, but still good enough. Why did ID&T kill Trance Energy? Damn them. Damn them. It wasn't worth it, pursuing a different kind of event. Trance was, and still is, the greatest out there. But it is what it is, and we cannot change the past. Nor would I want to, as it would have meant I would loose these awesome records. And they are awesome. Hearing those glorious 'Such Is Life' vocals, they still give me goose bumps. And 'Twisted', still a banger. 'Superstring', one of the greatest Trance anthems ever. 'The Nightfly' an underrated classic. But I've got to give it to 'The Truth' by Cosmic Gate. I can still hear that song, nearly at the end of the Sensation megamix, and the crowd screaming for merci. That is without a doubt, the best record in this mix. And one so powerful, it will be remember for generations to come, as one of the greatest Trance anthems ever. It's a great mix. The third instalment of the HTID series has finally been uploaded. Well, it's been nearly 2 weeks, and I've only found the time today to sit down and write about it, but at least it's not years later. I've reviewed the previous two mixes, both made by Ramos & Protocol, and now the third instalment. And as we all love the legendary lady with wings and what she stood for, it is going to be a pleasant journey, a journey lasting roughly an hour and a half. Are you ready to go back in time and relive the glorious years? I might say something that can be considered controversial, but wasn't HTID the biggest brand in the UKHC scene? Yes, it wasn't the only one, but certainly the biggest, right? Hell, at one stage I even purchased a t-shirt and walked around the Netherlands (probably the only one in NL). And who remembers those event cassettes/CDs packages? I was so proud to have lived during the time those legendary events took place, and those wonderful anthems were released. Time has changed and so has the music, and kids won't know how good we had it. And the scene was dominated by so many great names, such like Hixxy, Darren Styles, Re-Con, Breeze, Chris Unknown, Gammer, Dougal, Squad-E, Sy, and of course the two DJs who made this mix, Protocol & Ramos. And the funny thing is, these anthems stood the test of time. And everyone will be happy to hear them again. It will also make people sad, because they come from a time long gone, but at least we've got Soundcloud and we can relive the moments. As a proper Dutchman who didn't have many people around him who understood the music, I might have felt all alone in that little country, but at least I knew that there was an island, not far away, one that I could visit at any given time (before Brexit, of course), and rave the night away. Not knowing I was going to live in the UK many years later. But you can consider it my destiny. Going to live in the country who created and embraced UKHC. So many of these artists have moved on, and the sound coming out of the scene hasn't resembled the glorious days, it has progressed and moved forward. And as good as that might be, those golden HTID years cannot be beaten. Boy, I miss them. Ramos & Protocol keep on creating damage to my eardrums. Mix after mix, and as it's a new HTID mix, it is another one which will demolish my eardrums. And speakers too, as you cannot listen to this at low volume. Max the fuck out of your volume, and let yourself go. There are too many great anthems in here, but speaking out of experience, I have to conclude that there's one record in this mix which will get EVERY raver on the dancefloor. When this one is played, the crowd will loose their minds. And it's a no-brainer: 'See The Light'. That's' the anthem for our generation. 20 more days until the official Summer starts. That's not that far away, and if you are outside today, you'll experience a nice bit of sun. It's actually very pleasant today. It feels like the Summer is just around the corner (which it is), and that it's going to be a very good one. Hell, global warming makes everything hotter anyway, so we will have a lot of heat throughout the Summer of 2025. Yeah, the grass in your garden might be fucked up due to the lack of rain, but at least we can look tanned, right? I don't know how many years it has been, but it's been a long time. I honestly can't remember the last time I listened to a Louk mix, or when I even reviewed it. But it must have been over 5 years ago. And if I'm not mistaken, it was a Techno mix. The years have flown by, and so has Louk. But thankfully I keep on seeing more and more on Soundcloud, and his latest mix, which is a very Summer focussed mix, is one I had to grab and haven't stopped listening to. This mix has been on repeat, as it's one of those mixes that keeps you going. And it also makes you happier. Come on, just look at the little smiley fella in the picture above, in front of a rainbow. To the early 2000nd. Unexpectedly, but oh so damn worth it. I am a Trance lover since the late 90s, and hearing these glorious sounds again, it just melts me on the inside. And Louk's selection contains a lot of the lesser known anthems. And I like that. They might not get played that often, but they should get all the recognition they deserve, And hopefully through this mix they do?! Seriously, this takes me back to the days when I raved until the early hours in the morning at events such as Innercity, Sensation, Mysteryland, and a lot of local events. These would be the tunes I would hear. They might sound slightly dated, but they still get me going. I have been listening to this mix over and over today, and every single play, Louk's mix makes me happy again. A tremendous selection. But the one that gives me the most goose bumps, and the best 'underground 'vibe of this year, is 'So What' by Bug, Commie mix. What a wonderful anthem. Is this underrated or what? This is a masterpiece and it's one of those records that you hear once, close your eyes, repeat the song, and you are back on the dancefloor again, 20+ years ago. That dark and edgier sound, they don't make them like that anymore. 20 days until the Summer. Can't fucking wait. But until then, I'll be putting this mix on constant repeat. I am currently experiencing Summer withdrawals. The last couple of weeks have been very good, and it might have been a bit too damn warm for my body, but at least I got a taste of what's about to come. The Summer of 2025 might be the best one in a very long time. The weather is going to be excellent (let's remain positive) and our holiday is already booked, and I cannot wait to visit Malta, and experience an all-inclusive resort. Tropical temperatures, sunny atmosphere, drinks galore, and fantastic music. You cannot go through the Summer without banging tunes, right? And now I am enjoying life, with the sun beaming through the window, and the sky looking calm and collective. It's not technically true, as the wind is ridiculously fast and rigorous at the moment, but inside the house, I am fine. I am content. I need something to match my mood, the atmosphere I am currently in. And that's when I remembered: Mike Air, a.k.a. Iridium DJ. The songs are nice, hot and sensual, and during the set, the temperature goes up to astronomical levels. It's insane to hear these songs and be transported to somewhere sunny within a split second. But before I give you my rating, let's discuss the best song in this mix. It is one I've not heard before, but what a banging tune that is: ''Get Down''. The vocals just take this song to the next level, and it is extremely catchy. I am not kidding: just listen to the song and try to get it out of your head. Try it, and you will fail. This mix gives me early 2000nd ID&T vibes. When they decided to move away from Hardcore and embraced everything else, they released a few fantastic mix CDs, and Mike's mix just reminds me of those glorious CDs. Was it called ''ID&T Yearmix'' or something similar? Another album which has similar vibes is the promotional album by Camel, the cigarette brand, released through ID&T. An album I truly love and admire. Similar sort of vibes. It's a grand mix. It took me 2 years to find, but at least I did find it. And I'm really happy to sit here, in my comfortable bubble, enjoying life, and wishing for the Summer to start. Bring the heat, I would say. But until then, let Mike's mix be the heat for now. Mind Control is back with a brand spanking new mix. Not with new music, but old music. That sounds quite negative, doesn't it? It sound demeaning, but that's not how I mean it. Old music is always better anyway, no matter how you phrase it. And when it comes to Hardstyle, nothing can compete with the early stuff, you know the good old stuff. Pure anthem. The mix has got a few little ''issues'', but nothing major. The only issue I have got, is the use of 'Final Examination Of Time'. Boy, I am not a fan of Da Tweekaz and I find their music ridiculously bad. And this is yet another example why I dislike most of the things they have ever done. This is a track which should be buried in a Mexican desert, next to the infamous ET Atari game. What a crap song. It is Saturday, and the sun is out! It looked like it might be yet another boring and dark/dreary Saturday, but it all turned around, and now the sun is blasting the sunshine through my window, nearly blinding me. And after some house chores and a lovely walk around the local lake here in Stewartby, it was time to sit back, and enjoy a new mix. It's been a while since we last heard a mix by Fer-D (2023 was the last mix I've encountered), so it is about time for us to dive into his latest mix for 1NC1N. I've seen the name 1NC1N before, but not really sure who's behind it. Fer-D is a name I have seen before, and I know it's going to be a great set. For the 79th edition of the 1NC series he was asked to create a mix, and he's gone back in time. Way back in time, to the oldskool. Did he go back in time? He certainly did. Once you scroll down and have a look at the tracklist, you'll know what I'm talking about. And he dug deep in his collection. He's found some hidden gems, some oldskool classics you don't hear that often, or versions of classics not heard before. The mix is roughly 104 minutes long, but time flies by, and before you know it, you are playing it again. A trip down memory lane, who doesn't want to experience that? Especially when the tunes are really cool. Fer-D has picked some awesome tracks. Well, you are slightly wrong. I would say that these songs pre-dated the Hardcore sound, and influenced it a lot. A lot of these records were used in many mixes, but played at a faster pace, so they might appear like Gabber anthems, but they were actually Techno anthems. Obviously the birthing place of Hardcore lies within Techno and House, and you can clearly hear that in most of these records. Fantastic selection, DJ Fer-D. A truly amazing selection, and actually true to the term 'Oldskool'. This goes way back in time, when rave was still in its early phase, but it wouldn't be that long before it exploded and took the world by storm. The majority of these songs have become timeless classics, and only a handful are known as true classics. True, in the sense, that many people will think of these tracks way before others. And the main track for me is.... ''Sounds Of Frustration''. Come on, as simplistic as it might sound, it has such an impact, and the beat is so freaking hard. This is one of those songs which would get the dancefloor filled quicker than any other song. A true Hardcore classic, and hard as hell! No negative feedback, only love and appreciation for this dope ass mix. More of these, please. I'm going back outside, to enjoy the sun. You should do the same. And play this mix in the garden. The weekend has arrived, time to relax and unwind. And time to go back in time, yet again. It seems to be my thing at the moment, listening to mixes that contain records from my youth. And yes, I'm only 41, but I have lived a life. And the late 90s/early 2000nd were some of the best years of my life, especially when it comes to Trance music. Around 1998 I lost interest in Hardcore slightly, and Trance filled the gap. Yes, I know, there could not be two more different styles being compared in such a way, but Trance just worked for me. And in 2001 I went to the UK for the very first time. That had a huge impact on me, especially when it came to Dance music. All the CDs I found in HMVs and local CD stores, I bought them all. And the sound that resonated in UK clubs, that was for me the right sound. Did I jump aboard the Trance train? Hell yeah, and I bought an unlimited train journey ticket. I am riding that same train to this day, and I will never leave it. Even in the afterlife will I remain on the Trance train. I still get excited when I see a title containing the words ''Trance'' and ''Classics''. Because that means it is to be a fantastic journey back to the glorious years. And DJ Colin Bell is taking me back to my youth. And I'm not kidding: the tracks selected are the ones I really liked, and still dig to this day. They were my jam, and remain my jam. I bought literally every Trance compilation back in the day, and these songs were everywhere. And I felt happy hearing them. Now, many decades later, I still feel happy. Less bouncier though, but still happy to hear these songs again. And I've forgotten a few of these classics. My God, did I jump on 'The Nightfly' and 'Liberta', or 'Gamemaster' and 'Bulgarian'. But the one that always make me think of my time in the UK, raving my bollocks off, has to be 'Damaged' by Plummet. I do adore that record a lot, but also acknowledge that the remix by Antillas does not get enough recognition for being a true Trance anthem. Anything I didn't like about this mix? Erm.. no. Monday has come, and is nearly gone. One day closer to the eternal life, right? Hopefully that's years away from us, but you'll never know. At least we've survived this Monday, sitting indoors, roasting and sweating. But at least we've got some quality music coming at us through our speakers. Rígur Lárus is back with the twentieth instalment of his extremely successful and quirky mix series. And the twentieth is dedicated to a comedian/actor called Jim Carrey. You might have heard from him.... Jim Carrey is a funny lad. But he's played in so much more. Including the quirky film ''Eternal Sunshine Of The Mind'', which was a bit of a different film, compared to his 'standard' films. A bit more serious. I even liked him in that Big Brother-esque film, which name I've forgotten. He's not my favourite actor, but one I would not avoid. And that's putting it mildly. A good choice to have for your twentieth instalment. The cover image does freak me out slightly. It looks slightly ominous, right? It looks like my dreams, made into an image. Impressive, Rígur Lárus, very impressive. But it's not just the image that does damage, it also the mix. Rígur Lárus always finds the coolest songs out there. Some so unknown, I could not even find them. He does what he wants, and if it means that he has to dive deep into the underground to find the tracks that will get us moving, he will. And for his latest mix he has deep again. And boy, does this mix cause a stir! It certainly does. And I'm glad to have found it. This would have taken me ages to bloody type. But it's now here, and it ain't going nowhere. So Rígur Lárus split the mix into three sections. The BUILD UP, SETTING THE MOOD, and FINAL TERRITORY. But to me it's just one glorious mix, and its purpose is clear. It is to make you dance, make you feel enlightened. And it surely did that to me. It might have been a long and arduous mix to create, but the end result is really beautiful. And you can even state which section is your favourite. Mine is 'BUILD UP'. That's got the best records in them. ''There's Hope In Your Eyes''. Come on, nothing can top that record. That is just pure eargasms in a song. I am getting goose bumps listening to this song. That song closely follows ''Blessway'' and ''Pomelo''. Overall, this mix is sick. The intro is OK, not the best he's made (nothing can beat Rob Lowe's intro), but when it comes to the tracks and the mix itself, this is a masterpiece. I've been very busy this weekend, as the weather was good. I've been outside most of the time, and I am probably sunburned. Well, that's my fault. I should have used protection, but I couldn't care less, that's just the way I roll. But besides me being extremely busy, I had to listen to something that could entertain me for the 5+ hours in the garden. And this was the mix I had found a couple of days ago. And this certainly takes me back to the good ol' days. I don't need to explain the whole history, but just to give you a glimpse of me personally around the Millennium. Hardcore was going underground (or dying, depending on your views on the state Hardcore was in around 1998/1999), and I wanted to listen to something else, which could fill that void. I started to listen to everything all at once, and it included Club, Trance, Hard House, Bounce, and much more. I did the one thing a true raver would have hated: I went commercial. But I'm glad that I did. Because around that time, so many great songs were released. Maybe generalised under the 'Club' umbrella, it offered a lot to lost souls like myself. They might have been cheesier compared to the music I grew up with, but at least I grew up listening to Happy Hardcore, which was cheesy on its own. When this 'genre' took over, I embraced it, and I embraced it hard! It is cool to hear those classics again, but like time, they haven't stuck around long enough. I don't even know what happened to this sound? Did it fade away? And if so, when did that happen? It is all about the memories, and I've got plenty. Especially when 'Kickin Hard' kicks in. Of course one of the biggest anthems of that era. You couldn't escape that song, it was literally everywhere: radio, TV, and every CD compilation released back in the 90s/early 00s. It's catchy, that's for sure. It did give me enough energy today, and I'm now absolutely drained. No energy left. Time to unwind, and take another trip down memory lane, as Jumpin Jack released a second mix in this series. The weekend is nearly halfway gone. Yes, time flies by when you are having fun. And even though today was an OK day, the end result is enjoyable. Redecorated the bathroom was fun, even though there were moment I was going to push my head through the wall. And I wasn't even listening to the mix you are about to listen to: the mix I originally heard got on my nerves, and I had to stop playing it, as my laptop was about to be thrown in the garden.... But thankfully I came across this mix a few days ago, and decided to give it a go. And I wasn't disappointed. Not come across this account before, but sure he deserves a follow. DJ Grey released his 'Music Never Stops 1' mix roughly a week ago, and it contains some of the finest Uplifting Trance and Tech Trance anthems money can buy. And you know I am a sucker for anything Trance related. If it comes with a tracklist, I'm a happy bunny. No need to throw my laptop away, but the opposite: it stays firm on my desk, connected to a fantastic sound system, and it's blasting out the tunes at max volume. Not really bothered about the neighbours: they love Trance music, if they knew it or not. The weather was perfect today for a spot of Trance music, and it has certainly uplifted me a lot! Songs like ''Trance Is The Rhythm'' and ''Here We Go'', but all credit, love and appreciation goes to the most epic song I've heard in a long time: ''Just Be You''. Wow, what a beautiful record. Not heard this one before, but it has been on repeat ever since. The song is amazing, but the vocals just take it to the next level! DJ Grey's selection is superb, and he gets us going. Well, I couldn't sit still whilst this was playing out loud. It is powerful, and the hour and 10 minutes do fly by before your eyes. It's certainly a feast for your ears. I was under the impression that I've reviewed one of Antone mixes before, especially one from his Trance Elation series? I was completely wrong, as I can't find it on my website. I am ashamed, I truly am. But at least I'm not too late to the party. And what a fantastic party it is, right? The fifth instalment, and it's a great one, as it's been on repeat ever since I discovered it. And of course am I the Top FAN on Soundcloud. Surely not the only one, but give it time for people to discover this mix and the rest in this series. I think I listened to them all so far, but not reviewed any of them. Sorry Antone, don't be angry. But at least the one I'm talking about today, is the biggest one of them all. An hour long, 11 tracks, and they are astonishing tracks. They are gorgeous. If you love Trance, this is your cup of tea. You must jump on this as soon as time permits. Why? Well, Antone knows his stuff, and he's picked 11 fantastic Trance anthems. This isn't the first Antone review, and it certainly won't be the last. He's hit another homerun with this fifth mix in his Trance Elation series, and it's packed with songs I've not heard before. And there are two tracks in it, so beautiful, it makes me kind of emotional. I've had this mix on all day, and I will play it until the end of today. It is that good. The last couple of months I've been listening to a lot of Smooth Radio on Alexa, and it's been a pleasant journey. A bit more groovy music, a bit more relaxing music. I'm known to love me a bit of the harder music, but since our last holiday in Greece, I've been loving the groovy side a bit more and more. Why? Well, it's because of our daily visits to the local cocktail bar gave us this kind of music. Literally, they would play this kind of funky and groovy music. And those memories make me happy. Obviously I go to Soundcloud to hear more music, and this mix got shared. So I jumped on it, and I am glad to have listened to it. PDRMXsound made this mix, and it's a lovely 61 minutes long, 15 tracks are in it. And I am not an expert in Disco, but I can only comment on the music itself. And the music is truly great. And it's got one of the best songs in it, ever. And that's a bold statement, coming from me. So what can you actually expect? Well, a smooth journey through everything Disco related. It's a nice mixture, and it can be as smooth and sensual as you want it to be, or it can be extremely funky to dance to. It all depends on your mood. The weekend has started, and what a great week it has been! I've been extremely busy, but it has been rewarding. And Mother Nature feels the same. The weather has been extremely pleasant, and on some occasions even very hot! But it's all worth it, eh? The weekend is about to land, and the temperatures are to drop. Great British weather. I started today with a nice oldskool rave/Hardcore mix, and now I'm listening to a Happy Hardcore mix by Si Thompson. Why did I pick this mix? Well, Si used a picture of one legendary Happy Hardcore icon, one of the ''Devils''. As I bought all the Happy Hardcore CDs by Arcade back in the day, I instantly knew the Devil and what it represents. Of course did I look at the title of the mix too, but the Devil persuaded me. And that's a weird phrase to state today, when it's the Pope's funeral.... I adore Happy Hardcore, and whenever it's the early stuff or brand spanking new stuff, I love it all. My love for Happy Hardcore runs deep, very deep. And it will never go away. Not even when I'm 100 years old, sitting in my armchair, watching the world go by, behind my geraniums, drinking a lovely cup of tea with a biscuit, and blasting out Happy Hardcore at max volume, as I'll probably be deaf at that stage in my life. And I would still reminisce to the glorious days, those precious days when Happy Hardcore was everywhere. And it seems that Si's mix is filled with a nice mixture of well known tracks and a few forgotten gems. And even remixes I've not heard before. Also kind of sad, certain records used in this mix are great, but maybe not the versions used. ''Sailaway'' is such a great HH record, and this mellow mix isn't the best version of that song. Same with ''My Little Fantasy'', although a good effort. But Bass-D & King Matthew's version remains the dog's bollocks. But the tracks that got me hyped up the most, and got me dancing, are ''Secrets'' by DJ Revive, and ''Starting Over (Keep On Trying)'' by DJ Evo. These are truly great songs, and I'm guessing they are fairly new records? Not heard them before, but will have this mix on repeat. So much so, these songs will be etched into my brain. Wahey! It's Saturday. Time to relax, and unwind. And time for us to take a trip down memory lane, to the roots. And this isn't just your standard mix you are about to listen to, it's a promo mix for an event, which takes place on the 24th of May 2025. This took me back to the 90s, within a split second. The selection is great. Dave Junglist has certainly picked a lot of great anthems. You know when certain tracks are played, the dancefloor always fills up. And dedicated fans will immediately go to the speakers. Why? Well, have you ever been to a rave where they played LFO with LFO? You know what I'm talking about. That bass is so filthy. But there are a few others in this mix with the same level of filth. And I love it. The selection is great, and the mix is too. Not flawless, and sometimes the recording quality goes down, which makes me wonder if these are LPs used for this mix. And at certain moments, in my car, the speakers would be trembling so much, I had to turn the volume down, which never happens. It might be a recording issue, I presume? But it's still a highly enjoyable mix. Worth turning the volume up, but not to the max. And if you are into the early day rave music, why not go to this event, and have a blast. Me being Dutch is quite obvious. The name of my blog might have a clue in it. It has a lot of benefits. Growing up in the Netherlands has given me a lot of benefits, and the main one being that it was the epicentre of the harder music. I am not stating Hardcore originated in the Netherlands, but we certainly gave the music a place to grow, and growing it certainly did. And all those sub-genres, they grew in the Netherlands too, but they did not start in this small country. When it comes to Happy Hardcore, I would even go as far as to state it came from the UK. Do you agree with that statement? It was slightly different to the Happy Hardcore I grew up with. but the roots were certainly in the UK. That little country (bigger than NL though) was the birthplace for many music genres, and Happy Hardcore was certainly one they nailed from the start. It grew out of Breakbeat and Jungle, and even a bit of Drum & Bass. Techno influences? Of course. Even House has an influence in the Happy side of Hardcore. We took it at its peak and made it bigger than ever, but we've got our friends from the other side of the pond to thank. Don't get me wrong, I do love European Happy Hardcore a lot. But over the years I've grown accustom to the UK side of Happy Hardcore, and some of the records from the UK have made their way into my top 10 of all time favourite records. And the producers from back in the 90s, they've certainly become my favourite ones too. Pearsall's mix series did come to an end, and he decided that his last mix was going to focus on the ''early'' Happy Hardcore anthems. From 1993 to 1995, to be precise. Which is certainly a pity, because I would have raved in my bedroom like no one was watching, like a monkey on acid! There are some wicked anthems from back in the day, and you can tell that a few names were dominantly in charge of all the wicked tracks in the early 90s. Like Slipmatt, Billy Bunter, and of course Red Alert & Mike Slammer. Pearsall always digs deep and finds the well known anthems, and crams a few obscure, underground anthems in too. And the result is a 59 minute long mix with tracks which will do some damage to your speakers and your eardrums. And you aren't careful enough, you will have blisters on your feet, as you can't control yourself, and start raving. That's cool, but do it safely. There are too many to choose from, but I go with 'Ride Like The Wind', as that's the one that got me all excited in 1994/1995. I do believe it was on Happy Hardcore, the compilations released by Arcade, right? It's yet another amazing mix, and we go from the unknown/obscure to the well known anthems that dominated the world. Oh, how the 90s changed music for everyone. And I'm glad to have sampled both the UK and the Netherlands. Back in the 90s I would have ONLY loved Dutch Happy Hardcore, but being older (and slightly wiser), I would consider both UK and NL to be equally as good. We would not have had a Happy Hardcore scene without either of them. Selectabwoy. A name I've not seen or heard of, in a while. And I used to review a lot of his mixes. I don't know why I don't see a lot of his mixes on Soundcloud anymore, probably Soundcloud's algorithm. But only a few days ago did I spot a mix, which got me interested. As you can see, the title on the image above is Counterforce Inverted: a Collection Of Deep Beats. And boy, you are not ready for the deep beats! I certainly wasn't. If you are looking for some beats, and your requirement is that they are to be deep, look no further. I remember many of Selectabwoys' mixes, and they have always remained my favourite mixes on Soundcloud. Hell, one year I even nominated him for the DJ Mag 100, but as it's a fixed thing, he didn't win it. But he certainly should. This mix you are about to listen to, is yet another epic one. And if you look at the top player (listener), it is me. I've been listening to this mix over and over, and there's good reason for that. It's freaking awesome! This reminds me of Goldie's BBC Radio 1 Essential mix from back in the day. That mix has to be one of my favourite mixes of all time, followed by Selectabwoys' one. This is as good, or even better! Selectabwoy's selection is truly remarkable, as from the first to the last record it is hit after hit. But what it also does to me, is bring inner peace. I am so calm right now, I've got difficulties finishing this review. I am so calm, I could fall asleep, listening to this mix. I love this atmospheric music. It takes me into this new dimension, and I'm in love with it. It is worth a listen, and you are surely going to enjoy it. Seriously, hit after hit, and each one seem to be as good as the previous song. But all have the same power: to relax your inner soul, and give you eternal bliss. Well, eternal might be a tad too long, but at least for the hour, you are experiencing bliss. When ''Remnants'' hits, it hits hard. That's such a beautiful record, and what a way to end your mix. I was going to give ''Meditation'' and ''Just Wanna Live'' the top spot, but ''Remnants'' is just too damn good. The perfect record to end a climatic hour with. Selectabwoy, you've done it again! Yesterday I went to Skegness. Now, to be fair, that's not the most romantic place to go to, or the most exotic. But it's the place which holds the most memories to me. Especially when it's about going out until the early hours of the morning, and getting wasted. So I could not write a review, as I was reliving my past. But now I'm back, with a mix from last year, made by the legendary Craig Scott. You might have seen a few of his mixes on this website before, and I just had the urge to go back to his page and find a mix I'd not discovered before. Turns out, this mix was a bit of a backup mix. He was asked to make this, and in the end it wasn't used. Which is a pity. Turns out the vibe was a bit off. I would have loved this at my wedding, as it's got some serious bangers in here. Hell, even my wife would have liked this a lot. But it's not everyone's cup of tea, I get it. But this would have sounded ace at our wedding. It would have been slightly better to hear this instead of YMCA or any Christmas song (yes, it was September and the wife loves Christmas). But can't complain, our DJ did a brilliant job. Those vocals came in, and then the beat dropped! And it dropped like nothing I'd heard before! What a good track to start your mix with. This is yet another wicked mix by Craig, and I really find each mix I discover on his Soundcloud and YouTube page a glorious one. He never disappoints, and this Trance mix is something different. The weather might not be glorious, but I'm sitting inside of our house, and it's still quite hot inside. Short, t-shirt and a nice cool beverage. With this playing in the background, I could pretend to be in a sunny Summer destination. The mashups are great, and so is the end result. I would have loved to hear this at our wedding, but at least it's on the internet for us all to enjoy. And when 'I Can't Help Myself' hits, it hits hard. One of the most underrated songs, it deserves a bigger spot in our dance history. What a blinding anthem and a half! A fantastic mix. Wouldn't you agree? This month I've not posted any review, and I feel ashamed. I've been a bit busy, and it's been quite hectic, but don't you worry; I am back. And the first mix I'm about to talk about, is one I've only discovered a few days ago, and have played over and over. And frankly, the FANS section on Soundcloud should have picked up my plays, but it didn't (the bastards!). Why? Well, it's because this mix has got me through this week. And it hasn't been a bad week. But just to hear this mix, it has given me enough energy to survive it. I could have gone for the harder stuff, but I was feeling Trance more. The classics, of course. Not a massive fan of the current Trance. I do still listen to it, but nothing can compete. So when I discovered this mix, by RonsterMunch, I knew I had to give it a go. And normally I would go for anything with a tracklist, but when I started listening to it, I wasn't aware of a list, and I still highly enjoyed it. To my surprise, it did come with a list, and I'm grateful. Maybe it's the image which accompanies the mix? Very mind altering picture, if I'm being honest. Very trance-like image. It suits the mix well, I believe. But it's all about the music, and the music is great. An 80 minute long mix, with only 11 records. No megamix, but just pure, extended versions of great songs from back in the day. And it also gave me the opportunity to close my eyes, and relive the 90s and early 2000nd! And drinking a nice beverage at the same time. RonsterMunch has made a very nice mix, and it's one that has been on repeat for multiple days now. It's only been online for roughly 6 days, but I've listened to this so much, I couldn't stop. And it's all because the tracks are so super smooth and very intoxicating. They are epic Trance anthems, from the first to the eleventh record. I've got no complaints whatsoever. This is a solid mix. And when ''Das Glockenspiel'' hits, that's when you know you have reached Trance Heaven. Boy, that record is just stunning. Let this mix guide you through the weekend. Welcome to 2025. The world has changed dramatically, but the one thing we can always count on, is the fact that the clocks go forward and backward on specific days, for reasons unknown to most. But we need to hear something that suits the environment well, and this is certainly a very sexy mix, with some seriously sensual anthems. So sensual in fact, I am about to ask this mix to go on a holiday with me. That's a bit of a stretch, but it does sound very sensual. Mike Air's mix is very pleasant to the ear, and will go down well wherever you are going to play it. And especially with the first song in this mix. Another epic song by Duck Sauce. I can imagine this track being everywhere in 2025, on the radio, in shops, and being played at your holiday destination. What a blinding record. It is Saturday, and it's been a very eventful day. Been doing a lot in the house today, and even though I planned to start this review around 12am, it is now nearly 7pm, and I've only just started. But don't you worry, my son. This mix has been on repeat ever since. And I even had the wife listen to it, and she's not a fan of anything Hardcore related. So it has been a struggle, but she has not complained once. Maybe today is the day I have converted her into a gabber? Who knows? There's more chance of the Moon hitting the Earth. But at least I tried. And the mix I listened to, is a very good one. It's made by Infrasound, and it contains some extremely big Happy Hardcore anthems from the 90s. And you all know how much I love Hardcore. It's my life. I can listen to Hardcore 24/7, 52 weeks a year, and I would still love it. Not the current piep kicks stuff, Frenchcore or anything 'new', but the old stuff. Nothing can compare. Infrasound decided to do a bit of everything, UK and rest of Europe. And I love the balance between both. The result is a 77 minute long mix with some very tasty sounding anthems you don't hear that often. Well, some you do, but not in this configuration. Only last year did I discover a Soundcloud channel, a channel dedicated to Trance music, and the DJ behind the channel is called Trance Mam. Only two mixes I had the honour to review, but thankfully a few days ago did she upload a brand spanking new mix, showcasing her skills and her ''first year'' in the scene. It's been a year since her first mix on Soundcloud, and what a journey she's been on. Highly admirable, and to celebrate her first year, she made a nearly 3 hour long mix with some serious and emotional Trance anthems. And I enjoyed the ''Year One'' a lot. Hell, I liked it that much, I'm on top of the ''listen'' leader board. Why might that be? Well, because Trance Mam picked some of the biggest anthems out there. There's 28 of them, and they are solid anthems. Some 'old' ones and some fairly new ones. There's a mixture of old and new, and she made it sound so gorgeous. I am a Trance freak, and seeing/hearing mixes like this, that makes me very happy. And very excited. Trance is one of those genres that can elevate me to another level, and it will leave me up there for hours. But that's only when it's the good Trance, not the crappy boink boink happy let's put a meme cat in a song and call it Trance-Trance. The proper Trance, which Trance Mam picked for her mix, and what an astounding mix it has become. You can't wait to see the tracklist, right? It's been an eventful week, and it's only Tuesday! Can you believe it? Not even halfway there, and it's been a busy old week. But to get me through today, I've been listening to the same mix, over and over. And I would only do that if it was a good mix, worth my time. And obviously, when it comes to Jungle & Oldskool, you immediately think of Mickey Beam. This DJ has got a channel full of mixes like the one you are about to listen to, and they are glorious! The one I recently discovered is yet another beautiful one. So what's in store today? Well, Mickey is taking us back to the 90s again, with a lovely 1991 to 1995 Jungle/Oldskool mix. I was way too young to understand it at the time, but over the years have I become to love the early 90s even more and more. And Mickey has put some big hitters in this mix. Starting with one of the biggest rave anthems of the 90s, but he doesn't stop there. It is hit after hit, and they certainly are wicked. Not wicked as in that film I will not watch. Nah, the good wicked. The kind that makes your car speakers tremble with fear. Boy, the first time I heard this mix, and when the bass dropped, it dropped hard. Already had my windscreen chipped (stone chip), and I was afraid that the bass would make the crack even bigger, wider, and maybe even shatter the glass. It didn't, which made me happy. Not extremely well known with names from the early 90s, but a few I did recognise. But it's all about the music. This mix has only been online for a few days, but already did it receive some positive feedback. And I can only conclude with the same feedback. It's yet another wonderful mix by Mickey, and the tracks selected are insane. Only love and appreciation for this mix, and the early 90s. They were amazing, weren't they? It seems to be that Freeform is making some kind of 'comeback' on Soundcloud, because I keep seeing more and more Freeform mixes, with old and new stuff, by well known names and new names. Only a few days ago did someone called Lone Raver upload a mix, with 15 Freeform records in it. You know I had to jump on it, right? I wouldn't say I'm a Freeform expert, but I am surely an enthusiast, and love to hear more mixes like this one. So I had to jump on it, and here's what I think of it. Lone Raver, not a name I do recognise, but it's certainly one I will look out for. Maybe the reason why I've never encountered the name, because he's a lone raver. Like me, perhaps. But thankfully because of the Lone Raver's mix, I now know the name, and will see if there's more out there. As the mix not only contains Freeform records by some of the biggest names in the scene, but also a few of Lone Raver's own records! As said, the name didn't ring a bell, but after hearing a few of Lone Raver's records, I am intrigued. What's behind this lone raver? Where did the lone raver come from? What's the deal, basically? Does anyone know? OK, now back to the mix. It's a nice hour long, and it's got, according to the Lone Raver, 15 Freeform weapons! That's certainly a statement, and I'll be the judge of that! Well, the first one annoys me. The original is crap. Radio overkill. So I would just skip that record, unless you like it. Certainly give it a go. But to me it all goes bonkers when 'Afterlight' is played, one of Lone Raver's records. What an insane record! Reminds me of Stamina Records and the music they released back in the day. A wicked Freeform anthem and a half, that's for sure. But besides the first song in this mix, they are all solid as a rock. Nothing to complain about. Normally I would, but not today. I am a fan of the harder music. It cannot be fast and hard enough for me. But it needs to be appealing. If it isn't, then I will loose interest and move on. Not with a set by The Destroyer, recorded at this year's 'Hellbound - Three Decades Of Hardcore', on the 8th of March. This is one of those sets you will listen to, and within the first few second you have to make a decision: is this it for me, or is it a load of codswallop. To me, it was a great set, as it reminded me of a sound I complete have forgotten about. The 'Hellsound' sound. Do you know what I mean by that? Hellbound is one of those parties I've never been to, but it would have been amazing to have gone to one. To me, it is always slightly faster and harder, but more enjoyable, if that makes sense? And for their 30 years in the game event, they had a few big names: Arjuna, Catscan, Chuck One B2B Predator, Gabber Syndrome, Hellcreator, Ophidian B2B Ruffneck, Painbringer, Panic, Partyraiser, Promo, Tieum, and more. You can already tell that the event is harder than your usual 'Hardcore event'. I think I've only seen The Destroyer once, and that was back in the Raving Nightmare days, in 2008. A long time ago, right? But even though he played in the smaller room, he still destroyed my eardrums, and fucked up my heartbeat. I've always liked his approach when it comes to Hardcore. Non confirmative, as long as it sound and is hard/rough. And if that means destroying eardrums, so be it. And that's what he did at Hellbound. He only played for an hour, but within that hour do you get 44 records. Which ones? This is one amazing and epic set, and I'm already in the top list on Soundcloud, of most listened to fan and plays. Boy, do I love this mix a lot, as it actually reminds me of Hellsound, the CD collection from back in the day, of which I've written a review about. This reminds me of how great Hardcore used to be, between 1995 and 1997. And this harder approach really works for me. The Destroyer seems to be able to make the songs sound authentically 'old' and having this distinctive Hellsound-sound. Maybe one of the most underrated sounds, but I am sure that more people will discover it in years to come, and love it as much as I do. I cannot think of one record I didn't like. There are just too many great songs in this set. But the one that got me the most, was ''Push It''. I love the vibe, and I love that The Destroyer still to this day doesn't take any prisoners, and will continue to live up to his name, and his legacy. He is the Destroyer, and he's proud doing exactly that. Fuck your eardrums, you'll be deaf in the near future anyway: why postpone the inevitable? I would have lost my shit if I were there, at this year's Hellbound. I should get out more and get fucked over and over by the music. I need to hear The Destroyer, it's been too long! Sometimes you find stuff online, which makes no sense. During the week, I found a mix by [100 10 0] BomberFadd (what's in the name?), and it's focussed on Tschabos, and it turns out that they did have an album released back in 2000 or 2001, called Feierabend. Now I could say to you that this is an OK mix, but it isn't. It's so much moe, with the quirky level dialled up to 100. This is weird AF, and I cannot even describe what I actually listened to. Can you? Tschabos were famous during the golden years of Hardcore. First hit released in 1997, for then to disappear after 2001. Their last impact on the scene was their album, and it's as weird as you can picture it. It is actually classed on Discogs as 'comedy'. Obviously it's Hardcore, Gabber, House, Trip Hop, but also comedy. And that's certainly the case. The album, which I've never purchased, looks weird as Hell. Tracks about sex, orgasms, meat, 3000 joints, and more, are just weird as ever. And as it was a German act, the spoken word is in German. My understanding of the German language is limited, but what I do understand, makes no sense. Also the music itself. It isn't just Hardcore, which intrigues me even more. But the weirdness factor doesn't stop there. They even added one of the biggest tune ever on here, 'Gib Mir Die Bass (Noch Korrekter)'. That was an anthem for a generation, and has blown up many speakers over the years. But if you were to ask me, what is Tschabos, I could not give you a straight forward answer, as I really don't know. If this a joke, or were they serious? Is this the equivalent of the Dutch having Gabber Piet, Hakkuhbar or Reefteef? Or is this genuine, as 'Gib Mir Die Bass' is certainly a memorable anthem from a lost generation. I have been intoxicated by this 'mix'. It's quirky, and exactly what I needed to hear. It's banging, and even when it's not Hardcore being played, it's still extremely friendly to my ears. Tschabos were weird, and this mix certainly proves it. What ever happened to Tschabos? They came into the scene and left only a few years later? Was it due to the decrease of Hardcore in general? The person who made this mix, who's name isn't really a name, has made it interesting. Not a smooth mix, as it sounds more like the album being played, and when the 'scratching' bit comes in, it goes a bit haywire. But yeah, still funny to hear on a Saturday. This will certainly wake up the neighbours. Best record? Simple answer, 'Gib Mir Die Bass'. It was such a wicked anthem, it has stood the test of time, and is still well received on the dancefloors all over the world. Least interesting record? 'Fleish (Teil 3)' and 'Fotzenleger'. A mix by DJ Adrenalin, and this time it's all focussed on the legendary UK Hardcore label Maximum Impact, a label created by legendary DJ and producer DJ Seduction. Me being a massive UK Hardcore fan, I've heard these songs before, but never paid attention to which label they were released on. Obviously I should have done that, but I was too lazy. Too much focussed on the music. And the music is exactly what I wanted to hear on a Saturday morning, during my weekly chores. I needed something to cheer me up, as cleaning the toilet is never a pleasant thing. It was made pleasant because of this mix. Obviously the mix is filled with DJ Seduction anthems. He own(ed)s the label, so of course would his own records be released on it. But there's a few others which has collaborated with, or gave them the label to release anthems on. They were active between 2003 and 2010, with one more release in 2019. It's a shame, because it had some big hits. Maybe it coincided with the demise of UKHC? There used to be so many labels, and now there are only a handful left. Well, at least we've got the memories, and mixes like the one Adrenalin made. It's a fantastic mix. And Adrenalin also did a bit of scratching as well. How's that for a bonus? But it's all about the songs, and the songs are great. Especially one of the last ones , 'Raise Your Hands'. That's a big hit, and still remains one of my favourite songs. Maybe slightly underrated in my honest opinion. The selection is great. Some slight mixing errors, but nothing too major. Nothing to worry about. Still a very exciting mix, and one of a label you don't hear or see that often. More of this please, DJ Adrenalin! Jimmy The Sound. A name I've not encountered that often, but it would still ring a bell. The name does look familiar, and after a quick Google search did I come across his biggest hit, which I love to bits, M.O.D.U.L.O., which is certainly a Hardstyle anthem from a long lost era, appreciated by many generations, and an anthem that still causes a lot of damage on many dancefloors. But besides that record, not much is know. For which I can only apologise profusely. I should have known more, but I simply didn't. A quick Discogs search showed me that he's made a lot of records since the early Hardstyle and Hard Trance days, and someone called The Apprentice made this appreciation mix. An hour and 37 minutes of everything Hardstyle and Hard Trance. Is it just me, or has Christmas come early this year? As I grew up with that Early Hardstyle sound, I grew to love it, especially during those early years. And it turns out that Jimmy The Sound had a huge part to play in it. Maybe I just simply didn't recognise his JTS name, but others, as he's got a plethora of names he has used over the years. There are certainly records in this mix which I have encountered before on compilations or in mixes before. So he's not a complete unknown. And he's made M.O.D.U.L.O. Come on, that's an anthem and a half. My God, did I feel young and refreshed again for a split second. That familiar sound, they don't make the tracks like those anymore. This is so early, but oh so delicious. Hardstyle has progressed into its current shape, but sometimes I wish it would stay like it used to be, back in the good old days. The Apprentice has made an excellent mix, and it might be 4 years old, age really doesn't matter here. The tracks are solid, and it's flawlessly mixed together. And when certain records are on, the volume goes up, and I loose my mind. So many epic records by one hell of a producer. You would guess that M.O.D.U.L.O. would be my favourite, but it's not. 'Radio Traxx' is the track that spoke to me the most. There are a LOT of excellent tunes in this mix, but that one just made me bounce harder on my office chair. It's a brilliant mix, and I'm happy to have discovered it. I get to relive the past, and even get a glimpse into the world that Jimmy The Sound created. And I freaking LOVE it! I have to confess. Well, it's not really a confession, but I am a 90s baby. Or teenager. Whatever the definition is. I was born in 1983, so I was a young lad when the 90s happened, and I am glad to have lived through the 90s. Such a wonderful decade. One that cannot be repeated anymore. The 90s were so unique, on many levels, and when it comes to music, it was a tremendous decade. Not saying it was the greatest decade ever, but certainly in the top 3 of best decades, right? Goozer, a channel I started to follow since 2023, has uploaded a 90s mix only 2 weeks ago, and it's already been a blessing in disguise. I have been playing this mix over and over, and the tracks you are to find in this mix, are the ones you grew up with, if you were born before the 90s. The Gen-Z won't have a clue why the 90s were so awesome. Not to worry, we will be able to share it with them, with mixes like this one. It's 2 and a half hour long. And it is packed with the big hits from the 90s. They were literally everywhere, and dominated the charts all over the world. And without them realising it at the time, they've become timeless classics. You can still listen to them, and not be embarrassed or ashamed. They are and will remain anthems for generations to come. The music is just great. I remember listening to these on my Walkman, or my 'non skipping' portable CD player (those fucking things never stopped skipping!!), with the cheapest headset available. Of course do we have to acknowledge that we hear these songs (most of them) on the radio daily, but not in a mix, and without any DJ talking through each record. 2 1/2 hours of uninterrupted music. Couldn't wish for more. I've enjoyed this mix a lot. It's yet another wicked mix by Goozer. But you can't go wrong with the 90s, right? And the 36 he has selected are all legendary anthems. Even the ones I truly dislike. Like anything done by Cher, or that horrendous track by Run DMC vs Jason Nevins. God, those tracks give me haemorrhoids. But the rest are all solid. Now comes the tricky part: which is my favourite? Well, there are simply too many records. If I have to, it would be 'Wiggle It'. Most of these songs are catchy, but that one is (to me) even more catchier. I don't know if that's even a thing, but it is to me. Fantastic mix. It has brought a smile on my face, and also a tear, and the 90s started 35 years ago, can you believe it? And ended 25 years ago. Time has flown by too damn fast. Can't we go back and remain forever in the 90s? Sometimes things happen, and you really don't know why. Hardcore Underground. Remember that label? I don't know what has happened, but it's been quiet on the label since around 2022/2023. I have been an avid fan for years, but honestly I've lost track slightly. Lost track enough for me to realise the label has been quiet for some time now, and not really sure why they've stopped? Their website doesn't work anymore. That's a shame, if truth be told. They've had some amazing album releases over the years, including their Hardcore Underground series. I did purchase a few of those over the years, which made me very happy, as the CDs were quite dope. They even bough back the Hardcore Heaven series from the dead. Or what about their HU Tools series, or the HU Breaks CD, or all the artist CDs, like Joey Riot & Kurt, Fracus & Darwin, Brisk, Gammer, Marc Smith, Obie, Sharkey, Vinylgroover and more. But the main one for me was the HU series, which stopped after volume 8. Winterlake was asked to make a mix for this CD, but it never materialised. The other artists were AoS and Tatshinonsun. But we never saw this ninth volume being released, hence why we are going to listen to the unreleased 'official' mix for HU9. It feels slightly sneaky, but also exciting, hearing what could have been, but eventually did become. Be it the unreleased official mix. Not heard much from Winterlake before, but this is certainly a cool introduction. What could have been, eh? But at least he was nice enough to share the mix, and it's a really cool mix. It has kept the HU sound throughout, and the records are really dope. I have to give credit to the record that made me move the most, which is 'Serious' by Fracus & Jack In ('the') Box. Seriously insane record. I did like 'So Beautiful' and 'Hear Waiting', but 'Serious' is just such a damn good record. It's a great mix. Great listening experience if you are in your car to work, or sitting in the bus or tube, waiting for the world to fly by. Close your eyes, put this one on, and enjoy what could have been. The weekend has officially begun, so it is time for something to get us through. And I have found a mix, like the one yesterday, that took me back to my youth. The Freeform mix from yesterday took me back just a few years, but the one you are about to listen to, took me back decades. And it coincides with this year being the 30th anniversary of Masters Of Hardcore! Can you believe it? 30 years of this logo haunting us in our dreams, and taking over our lives?! They've been around for so long, and have gained so much respect from the raving community, it's unbelievable what they have achieved. And they are still going strong. There's no stopping the devilish looking logo from providing us excellent events and awesome music. To me, the music became important around the Millennium. Friends of mine already started collecting the albums, and by the time it hit the seventh edition, I jumped ship (from ID&T to MOH). And boy, it's been a tremendous journey. Sodom & Gomorrah made this mix roughly 3 years ago, and their reasoning was, to take us back to the Millennium era. And for that, I thank them. Boy do I love the Millennium era. He's made better tunes than those. And even though normally I would pick 'Your Choice' as my favourite, I have chosen two as my favourite, and neither is 'Your Choice'. 'Design The Future' and 'Fallin Crap'. Two very underrated anthems from back in the day. And ones you don't hear that often. They are awesome records, and they deserve more credit for what they are: bangers! A fantastic mix. The weekend is about to land. And let's jump into the weekend like there's no tomorrow. We need something that will make us smile. I have found something very interesting that might make you smile, and will make you sad at the same time. Remember the label 'Stamina Records', who seized operation last year (I think it was last year)? K-Wire made a mix to commemorate this legendary label, and he's planning on making more of these, as this is part one. I don't know how many parts there will be, but however many it might be, it will be a sad reminder that the label is now defunct. And that is sad news. The label had so many great releases. A few of them will you find in K-Wire's mix. A trip down memory lane, honouring one of the greatest labels in Freeform history. I only found this mix the other day, but it's been on repeat since early this morning. Everyone who reads this blog knows how much I love Freeform and how much I adore Stamina Records. I was really gutted that they stopped doing what they did best, but understood the reasons behind their decision. It still hurts though. The label was so damn awesome. They had a cool logo, but most of all, they had excellent music! By some of the finest Freeform producers, including K-Wire. Couldn't leave his own music out. That would have been a tad silly. But he has picked 16 records, crammed them into a 66 minute long mix, and brought us back to Freeform Heaven. And it's a good mix to start your weekend with, right? There are some underrated records in here, like 'Massenya', 'GTFO', 'Disorder', 'Greatest Adventure', but the one that gets the most hands in the air (=mine) is Kounta Kulture's 'Undone'. What an epic record. Seriously underrated. I do miss the Stamina Records songs. Top quality Freeform records. K-Wire's done a great job in creating the first out of many mixes. For those that are unaware of my roots: I am Dutch. Born and lived an OK life in the Netherlands for 30+ years. Roughly 10 years ago did I change countries. But deep down inside, if you cut me in half, you will find orange bits and bobs. They might be health related but they do also show the Dutch-ness. And yes, I wear wooden shoes and eat tulip bulbs. Of course a drug addict. Make it the most stereotypical thing ever! But overall, I am a unique person. A music enthusiast. And a crazy dude too. Coming from the Limburg region, you grow up with something we call carnaval. It's not as elaborate as the Brazilian version of it, but close enough. You dress up weird and listen to weird folklore anthems. And if you were in a cool pub/bar/disco back in the day, they might end the night with some Gabber music. And you always try to pull, but unfortunately the only thing I pulled, was a muscle. From raving too hard, of course. But I never felt like a person from Limburg. Their folklore music is absolute garbage, and to be fair, most Dutch folklore songs aren't great. But Limburg music just seem to be not my cup of tea. Only during carnaval would I loose myself and sing a long, after being heavily intoxicated. That works for most music that I find garbage. The more drinks, the merrier. So when I found this mix a few years ago, it made me cringe and happy at the same time. It make me think of Limburg carnaval and how much fun I had. And also the fact that they never made this kind of Freestyle music when I grew up. I would have danced the night away even more. Smashed to the core. This is what younger TCD would have appreciated a lot. If you aren't a native Dutch speaker, the lyrics/vocal elements might not mean anything to you. And for that, I apologise. It's funny music, don't get me wrong, but it's oh so fout (wrong). It's the equivalent of Christmas Hardcore music, which they've tried around 1993, and it failed hard. This is the same, but it seems to have an audience, especially during carnaval and when parties such as X-Qlusive Holland took place. It's cringy. But at the same time, it is catchy as fuck. Remember me stating my enticity? Well, I'm still Dutch, and it made my Dutch heart beat slightly faster. Some of the 'original' versions of these songs, they were my childhood songs. Like the song 'Schippertje'. Funny, and easy to learn lyrics. And catchy as fuck. The mix ends extremely fast, as it should be. Toward the end of the night you would need something fast, and more vigorous. And as you are in such a toxicated state, you would need more BPMs to get you over the edge, before going home. A good way to end the night. If you pulled more than a muscle, or aren't going to pull your cock, you would have the best carnaval, It's a funny mix, not my most favourite one ever, but it's just a foute mix (wrong mix). Filled with songs that are so awkward to listen to, but still put some kind of smile on your face. You have to experience Limburg carnaval to fully understand what I'm talking about. Last year, I was informed about a new mix. A mix so damn good, I had to jump on it. It could have also been the fact that I got tagged in a post. And that's exactly what happened a few days ago. A brand spanking new mix by Ramos & Protocol, called 'HTID Memories Part 2'. And as you might know, I am a HTID fan. I've bought so much merchandise and CDs over the years, the brand became this obsessive thing for me. Sadly I've never been to an HTID event. I think? Not 100% sure. But I don't think. I wish I'd been to those legendary parties, they sounded ace. But at least we've got the music. And the music remains awesome. It always gives me feelings in my tummy. Positive feelings. Like having butterflies in your stomach. Not really know why you would have butterflies, as it sounds disgusting to have inside of you, but you know what I'm saying. So Ramos & Protocol made the second instalment, and released it less than a week ago. Is it as good as the first one? That one got a 4.5 out of 5, due to the fact that it had 'Set You Free' in it, which isn't my favourite record. Is this second one better, or worst? It cannot be any worst, unless the mix is an hour and a half of N-Trance's 'Set You Free'. But it won't be that bad. But what's in store for us today? You want to know, right? Smiles for miles, that was for damn sure. It was magical, and so was the music. This mix is filled with nostalgic anthems by the biggest names in the scene. But we can all agree, those years, we can call it the Darren Styles years, right? He dominated. And he's given us so many awesome records. But Darren's track isn't the one I pick as my favourite. 'Through The Darkness' is just perfect in every way. It brings the happiness and the bounce. And those vocals... they give me goose bumps. The break is also on another level. OK, this mix ain't worst than the previous one or worth the same score. This one is much better! And I can only give it one score. More of these mixes. MORE. MORE. Why? 21 years ago. That's a scary thought. 2004 took place 21 years ago. That's just insane. It makes me feel extremely old and it made me realise that I did not party hard enough during the Millennium years. I should have gone out more, and absorbed more music. More is always better. And today's mix is indeed more than usual, Johan N. Lecander's mix is indeed a mix that can be enjoyed in one session, but it's certainly a long ass session. Nearly 5 hours of Trance music from 2004. Is this Heaven on Earth? In 2004 I was full into Trance music. And did I buy compilations? Well, does a bear shit in the woods? I don't really know, nor am I interested in the actual answer. But truth be told, I did spend a lot of money on going out and purchasing compilations. Especially the top 100 CDs, which gave you a bit of everything by everyone. Like the mix you are about to listen to, but a lot shorter. Johan N. Lecander has gone overboard, and decided to give us ALL the music. No short edits, no radio edits, just pure full length versions of these glorious anthems. And it turns out that this is the second part?! Where is number one? How come I did miss it? I need more of this. Especially when I'm at work and I need to focus. I need this trip down memory lane, to a fantastic year. Trance music was (to me) at an all time peak. This year has given us many memorable anthems, and Johan picked a few from his collection for his second instalment. I've got to get on board with the first one, I need to check it out. The music was, and still is, extremely intoxicating. As much as I like the present day Trance, I would always prefer the good old days. Not a fan of the meme music that's being played at events. Give me this no nonsense Trance all day, every day. Johan N. Lecander has picked yet another fantastic few records, and made one splendid mix. Not the first time I have encountered one of his mixes, and it will certainly not be the last. This is yet another epic mix with insanely well produced classic Trance anthems. I am quite bad with names, so the names might not ring a bell, but once I hear certain elements to a song, I know I'm going back in time, and feel young again. That one song in this mix, the one that brought me instantly back, was 'Any Given Day' by Floyd. Truly the one song that holds the most memories, and also appeared on so many compilations. During the Millennium years, I bought literally everything Hardcore related. But even though I had a few pennies spare, I would still remain brand loyal. Afraid to make the jump to another brand within the Hardcore scene, I would not buy anything that had no affiliation with Thunderdome or ID&T, or Masters Of Hardcore. But sometimes I could be persuaded by little gifts, like stickers, t-shirts or you name it. In 2001 I bought the album you are about to listen to. D.H.T., also known as Danger Hardcore Team. Their third 'virus' CD. Not knowing anything about the CD series, I bought it, and listened to it over and over during the noughties. Even though it was from a different 'brand', it was still Hardcore music, and that always makes me happy. The CD itself was split into two, with the first being the tracks on their own, DJ friendly. And the second disc was mixed by DJ Bass, which had all the songs from the first disc. D.H.T. were successful, mostly in Belgium. They even had a hit released via Ministry of Sound (which wasn't a Hardcore track to be fair). But besides the fact that they were from Belgium, nothing much is known. They just emerged back in the late 90s. I don't even know if they are still active. I did like the CD a lot. I liked their logo, even though it resembled RTC's skull logo a lot.. or is it just me? Weirder stuff had happened over the years. Remember when Arcade released a Formula One focussed Hardcore CD, where the first disc was filled with Hardcore anthems with sound bites from Formula One cars, and the second being JUST Formula One sounds? Yeah, the 90s were weird times. And I'm not a DJ friendly kind of fan. Give me a mix, any day of the week. And that's exactly what I found on YouTube. Basically both discs in one video. Hardcore, to me, was growing on me again, and I loved the sound coming out of the scene. There were some splendid tracks being made, and a few made it onto this CD. Not all the tracks were successful. Who remembers Hardcore Factory? Not the finest track, right? And even 'Eardrumz' is (to me) not Outblast's finest song. Which one is? Well, 'War Is Coming Man' is just brutal, hard, no nonsense track. Perfect to hear on a dancefloor. That track would get everyone going. It's a blast from the past. And it's the only CD I've ever purchased from D.H.T. CD series. I don't think it caught my attention at all after this CD. MOH took over my life, and D.H.T. faded away. Turns out that it started in 2000 and ended in 2008. Well, at least I've got this CD, and now you will too. Well, not physically. Nor do you have the sticker. I don't either. Must have been on one of my school agendas from back in the day.
