  • Classic dance anthems to take you on a journey back in time. Vinyl mix (2021)

It is Monday. Where has the weekend gone to? It's flown by too damn quickly. We need something to motivate us. Nothing too hard, or nothing too soft. We need something heavenly, and Trance is just the right kind of music to elevate us. It's going to be a very long week, so let's get cracking with some nice Trance anthems from the forgotten era. And it ain't a short mix: a nearly 2 hour long mix with 20 records. This mix will certainly get us through the day, what is left of it. Maybe it wil get us through the week, who knows? The channel on Soundcloud is called Vinyl Trance Classics Radio, but it hasn't posted much. Only 2 mixes in a 3 year timespan. There's also not much information on the site, so let's focus instead on the music selected for this mix. They are the dance anthems from our generation. To be fair, you'll know most of them anyway, and they have appeared on many compilations during the Millennium years. And I've bought many compilations over the years, and have heard them all. But there are still a few in here I've not heard before. And the good thing is, is that they don't sound dated at all. They are indeed classic anthems. This mix has had some good feedback, and it could be the right mix for you today, if you are looking for something danceable. Which anthems are in this mix? Aurora - Ordinary World Lost Witness - 7 Colours Frankie Goes To Hollywood - The Power Of Love William Orbit - Barber's Adagio For Strings Lost Witness - Red Sun Rising DJ Sakin & Friends - Protect Your Mind (Braveheart) Rank 1 - Airwaves Alena - Turn It Around Above & Beyond - Far From In Love Lost Witness - Happiness Happening Lange - Follow Me Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia (Fly Away) 4 Strings - Daytime Dee Dee - Forever Balearic Bill - Destination Sunshine Skip Raiders - Another Day Ian van Dahl - Will I Southside Spinners - Luvstruck Plummet - Damaged Planet Perfecto - Bullet In The Gun It's a good selection, all vinyl records, and that's always an added bonus. But yeah, I know all of these anthems, I grew up listening to them. Well, not all of them, most of them. And hearing them again makes me happy. To be fair, you do hear most of them on the radio, but they are always silly short edits, and I dislike those. You cannot shorten a classic like that. The mix is OK. There are some mixing errors, but they are minute. The anthems are solid, most of them. But I have to address the elephant in the room. The third song in this mix, I really dislike this song. It has been killed by the amount of plays on a daily basis. You hear that song everywhere, and it's getting on my nerves. It's not my favourite, nor will it ever be! But that's the only 'bad' song in this mix. The best song is 'Damaged'. Big anthem, it destroyed many dancefloors I've stood on. Big anthem. A very pleasant mix, one you should be checking out. I enjoyed myself a lot, and it took me on a trip down memory lane! DJ: Vinyl Trance Classics Radio Genre/Style: Trance, Dance Mix Info: Classic dance anthems to take you on a journey back in time. • Gabber of the 20’s Vol.5 (2024)

It is Saturday, and those that are getting ready to go out, I might have something for you to listen to. Something that will give you the right amount of energy. J.O.E., the man behind many awesome mixes, uploaded a brand spanking new mix roughly 2 weeks ago, and it's doing some serious damage on Soundcloud. But it's all for a good reason: it's gabber from the 20s. Not a new concept, but a concept I truly adore, and much appreciate. One that should deserve more credit, and should get more people behind it. Gabber isn't a new thing. Hell, it's been around for a while now. I even called myself a gabber during the 90s and early 2000nd. The sound that emerged during the 90s was widely loved by many, but died an unfortunate death around 1999-2000. But it's now brought back into our existence by new and upcoming artists who keep the early sound alive. And DJs such as J.O.E. spreading the love for the sound. Well, I do my bit: I review every 20s Gabber mix I can find (one that comes with a tracklist of course). I do find it amazing that this 90s sound is still kept alive. The market for it seems to increase bit by bit, and more 'new' names appear in mixes I listen to. A few years ago it was only a handful of artist, but the style just erupted, and got a new cult following. And looking at the plays of J.O.E.'s latest mix, a lot of people seem to find their way to his mixes, and really appreciate this. I am one of those people. I even find the artwork on the image above a tad quirky, and it reminds me of the awful covers of gabber CDs in the 90s (especially ones released in the Benelux). A true throwback. But which artists are currently doing damage in the 'new' Gabber scene? Jones & Stephenson - The First Rebirth (SCOOBIX Remix) Noizadikt - Ether Sonority The Bloody Deamon - The First Destination Lysa & Italian Terrorist - Don't Care X4phantom - Epic Overdrive Lysa & Italian Terrorist - Still Real Kick & Kollekt feat Crazy Gabber - Attention Lysa & Italian Terrorist - Junkie JEDYNY - Jupiter IDK - Gabber Dream X4phantom - Zer09 FUZZY BRAIN - Dos Tres Pardonax - Carved In Stone Lenny Dee - Forgotten Moments (DJ Mutante Remix) Lysa & Italian Terrorist - Lady Domineering Hellfish - The Ripper (Angerfist Remix) Dolphin - Golden Linnings (VIP Mix) Toward the end it goes a bit bonkers. But J.O.E. already warned us that this mix is slightly harder and faster. It starts around 200BPMs and only will increase throughout the mix. Just look at the last two records, and you know exactly what I'm talking about. J.O.E. loves these records, and so do I. There are some quirky ones in here I need to get used to, but at first glance I do appreciate them. The ones I need to listen to more, are 'Don't Care' and 'Still Real'. But they suit this mix extremely well. This isn't J.O.E.'s first Gabber of the 20s mix, and hopefully it won't be the last, It's been more than 6 months since the last instalment. I do feel like a fan boy, hoping to see these mixes appear on a regular basis. There's a huge demand for these, and for good reason. Bring back the Gabber sound! Or when you can't, relive the past by making new music sound like Gabber anthems from back in the day, but give it a 20s twist to them. A solid mix. I can only share my love and appreciation for this mix and the songs selected. They are all amazing anthems. DJ: J.O.E. • Take #17 - Schwarzen Dystopia (2024)

We are back in the new year with a new mix by Rígur Lárus . This time it is Arnold Schwarzenegger who is on the centre stage. If you are a regular to this site, you know I love a bit of quirkiness in my life, and Rígur Lárus' mixes are certainly that. The first one I found, was back in 2022. Now it's 2024, and it's time for a fresh new start. And even though he isn't my favourite actor (he's not even in the top 100000), the focus today is all about the tracks selected. And it's yet another glorious mix. One that might be a bit of a struggle to listen to today, but I'll get to that in a minute. I am not a fan of Arnold. The only good film he made, was Terminator. He can only do one voice, and he's well known for his weird phrases, and credit where credit is due, he even became a politician. Which is impressive, to say the least. Don't know if he was a good politician, that's not up to me to decide. But he's done quite a lot, this mister Arnold. And without him knowing, he's now also linked to the dance industry, be it through this mix. His face will always be linked to this wonderful, 2 1/2 hour long mix. The title is funny, but the mix certainly isn't. This is serious stuff, and remember I said that this mix would not help you today? Well, this is a very mellow and relaxing mix, and today is Friday, so you want something uplifting, something to make the day fly by. This ain't the mix for you, sorry to say. But this could assist you, if you are having a bad day. This will enlighten your mood, and feed your soul with awesome songs. Rígur Lárus made yet another blinding mix, and the songs are so relaxing, I am nearly drifting away into a deep sleep. This mix is like a pleasant hug by someone you love. You just feel so comfortable and embraced. But which songs are in this mix? Curious yet? Emotional Ketchup Burst (EKB) - Mysterious Fireballs Dan Sushi - Titanium (Extended Mix) Bob Moses - Enough To Believe (Motives Private Remix) Xashes - Time After Time (Extended Mix) Browncoat - Blackout (Original Mix) Colyn - Rushing Nikki Nair - Dump Truck Cary Crank - Lost Highway (Aquiver Remix) Novakk - Goliath (Original Mix) Oesha - Nebula (Original Mix) Alex Lovita - Personal Memory (Atom IE Remix) Christoph - Come With Me (Extended Mix) Garsi - Forecast (Original Mix) Midele, ROMERLIN - Unspoken (Original Mix) Stil & Bense - Flame Wars (Original Mix) Sandhog - Accent (Renato Cohen Remix) Add-Us - Changes Micropacer - Alte Liebe (Original Mix) Ridgewalker feat El - Find (Andy Moor Remix) Oliver Giacomotto - Community (Original Mix) Stil & Bense feat Lia Paris - Ninfa (Original Mix) Kennedy One & Shelley Harland feat S.O. - All There Is (Spada Remix) Enai - This Is A Dream (Undercatt Remix) Pongo - John Connor (Original Mix) Nico Morano - Forever Stella (Emanuel Satie Remix) Huminal - Positive Power (Kasper Koman Remix) Colyn feat Maurits Colijn - Bridges In The Sky Estiva - Via Infinita (Marsh Extended Remix) Ornery & Michael Ritter - Calling (Instrumental Mix) Nha, Nikki Lore - Celeste Hidden Empire - Beyond The Realm (Original Mix) Hollt - Sins Of Orion (Extended Mix) Raphael Mader - Butterflies Alex Preda - Voyage To Self (Impulsive) I've got to give Rígur Lárus credit. This is a mix full of artists I've not heard or seen before. This is a whole new experience for me. Not one name rings a bell. This is a complete unknown tracklist, and I'm loving it. You know why? Because then my focus lies solely on the music. And the music is great. Today isn't the first day I've listened to this mix. This has been on repeat for days on end, once I was informed that Rígur Lárus uploaded a new mix. It takes a few months, but it's worth the wait. As quirky as the title of the mix is and also the cover image, the mix itself, that's just dope as fuck. It's heavenly, and inspirational. This mix has got everything you need to hear. House, Trance, Techno, and it's just a pleasant experience throughout. 2 1/2 hours fly by, and you feel so relaxed, you want to immediately listen to it again. The songs are carefully mixed together, after an extensive selection process, and the outcome is a wonderful mix. So far it's my favourite mix of 2024, and we are only 26 days into the new year. Only love and appreciation for Rígur Lárus. He's done it again, and all 34 records are beautiful. Very melodic songs, but that's what I like. Not always, but this week it's been on my mind constantly. And I've been thinking and talking about Arnold a lot. Maybe a bit too much. Just sit back, and enjoy this mix. It's a very pleasant journey he is taking us on. Not everything is FUBAR. This mix certainly isn't. • The Crossbreed Legacy Series Part 1 (2024)

I don't need to explain who The Outside Agency are. They are well known in the Hardcore scene, and have been a stable force for many decades now. But what many don't seem to know, is what paved the way for The Outside Agency. The songs that influenced them to create this Crossbreed kind of music. I've been following them for a while now, and their latest mix is one that is interesting. The concept behind it is fascinating. You get a glimpse on what paved the way for The Outside Agency to become what they are, and what they have made. A trip down memory lane, through the eyes of The Outside Agency. To me, their song 'The Immobilizer', which they made alongside Mindustries, is still one of the finest Hardcore anthems ever made. Whenever I feel the need for a powerful anthem, I always fall back onto this beautiful specimen. But The Outside Agency might not be your cup of tea. You might not be interested in their approach. And that's cool too. In a way this mix isn't really a 100% focussed on what they are now, but how they became TOA. You get a quick, hour long mix with tracks from around 1992 to 1998, and it's as diverse as it gets. The songs are largely underrated, and sometimes forgotten, but thanks to mixes like this one, are we reminded of these classics. And even though I call myself a full on raver, there were still a few songs in here I'd never heard before, so I am now introduced into not only TOA's musical history, but also hearing 'new' songs. The songs are a few decades old, but still sound as fresh as when they were released. And it's certainly a mix you need to listen to, as the songs are so dope! Leave that up to TOA to make a mix sound splendid, and yet stand out! DJ Luna-C - I Know U (D'Cruze Remix) Hardsequencer - Hypnotizing Unhappiness Pinhead - Slammin' Beatz Hardliners - Motherfuckin' Breakbeat Citrus - Fascination Defqon - Brainwasher English Muffin - Blood Of An English Muffin Undercover Anarchist - Artcore Technohead - Jetset #1 Manga Corps - Wardancer Overdog - Fuck You Up The Possessed - Black Bood Genetic Waste - Genetic Waste Front 242 - Religion (The Prodigy Bass Under Siege Mix) DJ Hype - Shot In The Dark (Q-Bass Remix) Ilsa Gold - Silke (Ilsa Gold Remix) Chosen Few - The Break DJ Rob & Tim B - The Second Coming Tellurian - I Won't Stop Rocking Hellfish & The Producer - The Way Of The Homeboy Pt.2 (The Winter Of Discontent) Oh, this is a splendid looking list. A good selection, but this is only part 1 of TOA's Crossbreed Legacy mix series, so I cannot wait to hear more of these mixes. It's a nice glimpse, but also a reminder of how awesome music was in the 90s. The hour flies by before your eyes, and even though the songs are considered Hardcore anthems, they were influences by other genres, like Breakbeat, which I truly adore. And it gave TOA the idea to become the power duo. The songs are ace, and it's nice to see some of the early classics making an appearance. And be honest, how often do you see these anthems in mixes? Not that often, unfortunately. It's a shame, they should get the recognition they deserve, I am an early Hardcore lover, and whenever I hear those sounds, it makes me feel young again. The song that gives me the most goosebumps, that has to be 'Slammin' Beatz' by Pinhead. What an underrated anthem. It still reminds of my first ever mixed Hardcore CD, which had this song on there. It is still a masterpiece, but certainly not the only one in this mix. There's 20 amazing records, a fantastic selection by TOA. And I love 'Fascination'. Whoever Citrus is, the song has certainly become a timeless classic. The concept is ace, and the mix is dope too. Got nothing else to say. Go back in time, and relive the past. This mix is exactly what I needed to hear right now. The right amount of anthems, beautifully mixed together. The hour has been awesome! • Can You Believe This Is 10 Years Old! [Stamina Records ] (Mixed By M@rt!n-J) (2024)

I am a huge Freeform fan, and have been for quite a while now. And I've been a fan of the majestic label we all know and love, Stamina Records. I've bought a whole bunch of their yearly 'Best Of Stamina Records' full albums a few years ago in one go, and I do love what the label has done for the Freeform scene. The yearly albums will come to an end, with 2023 being the last year. 12 editions, and now it's ended, which is a pity. But the label has got a different future ahead of it, and the only thing we can say, is 'thank you' to all that have made the label such a success. I've been an avid fan for years, and their 2014 edition is one of my favourite ones. Not the number one though, but certainly in the top 3. 2012 and 2013 were the top 1 years for Stamina Records. But the main question here is, what's your favourite year, and which one is your favourite 'Best Of Stamina Records' album? The songs released on this label are all underrated classics that should get the recognition they deserve. M@rt!n-J has made many mixes, and this isn't the first Freeform mix out there. But what's the focus regarding this mix? Well, the fact that's it's nearly 10 years old, this wonderful album! And if you are a fan of Freeform, once you hear the mix or look at the list, you will be amazed to find out that all 15 songs are nearly 10 years old! Time has flown by too darn quickly. These songs still sound as fresh as when they were released. Hell, it doesn't even feel like 10 years ago! This mix is a throwback to the glorious years of Freeform. You won't be disappointed after hearing this mix, trust me. Rhythmics feat Mi'A - What We Learn Dante & Audio Warfare - Drug Real (Douglas Remix) Ectomorph vs A.B - Closer To God A.B - This (Westfest VIP) A.B & Nick 235 feat Rhona - Silence A Prayer (Substanced Remix) A.B vs K-Wire - Smiler (VIP Edit) jD-KiD - Unpreventable A.B vs K-Wire - Euphoria Rhythmics - Requiem Douglas - No Alternative A.B - Pigeon A.B vs Vinyljustice - Rok Da Beat Technikore & Cyrax - Difference (DJ Ned Remix) Cyrax feat A.B - Dark Matter A.B - Carburettor It's an amazing tracklist, and it was an amazing album though. The quality of the songs is just beyond anything else released in 2014. A.B and his label ruled the UK Hardcore scene. Unfortunately not everyone agreed or just didn't like Freeform enough, but tough on those haters. These are my views and I still stick by then. Freeform is fantastic. It is still going strong, but things have changed slightly. It is still underrated, which is a pity. But hopefully one day it will get the recognition it deserves. And if not, well, at least I like it, and a lot of others. I can only give credit to M@rt!n-J for making yet another epic mix with excellent records. But also give credit and show appreciation to Stamina Records for what they've been doing for many years. 2012 to 2014 were certainly the greatest years for Freeform. A solid mix with 15 epic records. And at the end, A.B's 'Carburettor' takes us to the darker side of Freeform, and ends the mix on a high note. I feel extremely energetic after this hour of pure pleasure, thanks to this label and the DJ behind this mix. If you want, you can purchase the last 'Best Of' album, or the previous ones. Be quick though, they might not be online forever. This is a cool concept though. Maybe M@rt!n-J should make more of those 'Can You Believe' mixes? Best record? 'This'. That song was literally everywhere! One of that year's biggest anthems! DJ: M@rt!n-J Genre/Style: Freeform Mix Info: Can You Believe This Is 10 Years Old! • Sa.Vee.Oh - My Old School Side Set (2012)

The other day I was reviewing a Qlimax appreciation mix, and one of the songs in it, was made by a producer called Sa.Vee.Oh. His 'Loop Hole' song was released back in 2003, and that's the song I know the artist from. And the song is an absolute dancefloor smasher. But unfortunately, and I'm being honest here, that's the only thing I know of the artist. But because of that limited knowledge, I went looking for some more, and did I find something? Yes, otherwise what's the point behind this review? The mix is an oldie. 12 years old. And I only discovered it a few days ago. But it's been on my mind ever since. It was made by Sa.Vee.Oh, and it's a big one. Filled with forgotten anthems, tracks you don't hear that often, which is obviously a pity. You need more of these anthems, and you need to hear them maybe once a week, or maybe even daily. They were anthems for our generation, but should also be anthems for future generations! As mentioned before, don't know much about the artist, and their Discogs page is quite empty. But obviously 'Loop Hole' is a big anthem, but not the only anthem he's made. You can find a few in this mix, including versions of amazing songs you might not have encountered before. Normally I would give you some feedback about the artist, but I think that's down to you, the reader. Please educate me, if you know a bit more about this artist. Sa.Vee.Oh - Electro Bass (Promo) Chris Dynasty - Subwayz Ratty - Sunrise (SHOCK:FORCE Remix) Sa.Vee.Oh - Nohacker.exe (Phil York & Dark By Design Remix) Nomad - Initiate Public Domain Soundsystem - Automatic Audio Overload (Sa.Vee.Oh Remix) Sa.Vee.Oh - Unlimited (Organ Donors Remix) Luca Antolini - Mastermind Sa.Vee.Oh - You Rock Geck-o - Dancing Machine (Reverse Banana Edit) Kidd Kaos - Definition Of An Anthem Noisecontrollers - Give It Up Dutch Master - Recalled To Life This is a nice blend of Hard Dance anthems. A bit of Hard Trance and Hardstyle. I love it. And it's carefully mixed by Sa.Vee.Oh. I wasn't fully aware of this producer's capabilities, but now I'm in awe. He might not have released many songs, but those that he did, are certifiably bangers! It's an hour long, and you get a nice variety of 'old' anthems. It's an hour of your life you won't get back, but it is all worth it. A few of his own productions are in here, which is the reason why I checked it out in the first place, as I was curious to hear other songs, not just 'Loop Hole'. Back in 2012, when this mix was released, the song 'Electro Bass' was about to be released, so it was a promo for this mix, to get everyone ready for this song. What a big anthem it is! It sets the tone for the rest of this mix. But here are two songs I go back to, every single time, and it is.... The first two songs. 'Subwayz' and 'Electro Bass'. The rest of the mix is awesome too, but these two songs are just sublime. I hear them on repeat, and both of them don't disappoint me. They are really energetic anthems, and I love them. It's a solid mix, and I'm happy to have found it. And my interest for the DJ has only increased. I need more Sa.Vee.Oh in my life! What happened to this earlier sound? Why has it disappeared? More of this sound, please! • BFH Radio || Episode 32 || Finnbarr (2024)

Finnbarr. You might recognise the name. It has appeared on this site before. Hell, I've even seen and heard him play. But that was a few years ago, and things have changed. He has changed too, but I'll explain that in a minute. For now, let us focus on the mix which you are about to listen to. It's a Techno mix, and one of the first ones I discovered in 2024. This will set the bar for the rest of the year. But leave that to Finnbarr. If there's one person who can provide us with awesome music, it's him! And this mix is one that won't disappoint you. I had to do a quick search, but it's nearly 8 years ago since BMH Freeform, where I say him perform, with other artists such as Rikki Arkitech, Transcend, A.B, Thumpa, Cyrax, and Midas. My God, where has the time gone? But back then, he was known to produce UK Hardcore and Freeform anthems, and he was bloody good at it. I hailed him as one of the finest producers at the time, and many agreed. Unfortunately the Freeform world is too small for Finnbarr, and he deserves a bigger audience with his producing skills. So Techno it is. I've been following him for a while on Soundcloud, and every so often something comes along, and it excites me. For this radio station called BFH, he made a mix containing a few of his own productions. And even though it's not Freeform anymore, you do hear its influence in the songs he made. When he was a Freeform producer, he was ace, and now as a Techno producer, he's ace too! A winner in my books. But is this mix one you need to check out, or leave behind? Finnbarr - Alley Cat Finnbarr - Be My Woman Finnbarr - In Your Arms Loving Loop - Say It Again KØZLØV & PRXYAMA - Toxic Aura Paul Glazby - Voices Finnbarr - Fools Rush In Detuned Inc. - Game Over Nobody - Infinite Space Remon Verhoeve - Bring It Ketting - Killing The Beat Finnbarr - Everything Is Fine Jappo & Lancinhouse - Exlxaxl (Neophyte & Evil Activities Remix) This is a very interesting mix. If you've never heard of Finnbarr before, and you would like to know what it is he makes, this mix could be a very interesting mix to introduce yourself into his world. Most of the tracks are made by Finnbarr, so you will be introduced, and you will love hearing his songs. Trust me, his songs are hard, rough, and sometimes a tad quirky to start with, but don't let his quirkiness fool you. His approach to Techno is awesome, and when you hear a Finnbarr song, you won't be able to remain seated. Or if you have to remain seated, your body starts to move vigorously. I'm now sitting at home, bopping my head up and down, from left to right. This music makes me move. The intro might be a tad soft, but once that's behind us, it's one powerful anthem after another. And toward the end he even goes Gabber-fast, and ends the mix with 'Exlxaxl', which can be seen as quirky, but it works well. There's a lot of awesomeness in this mix, and I'm glad that Finnbarr now makes Techno, as he should get recognition for his skills. And the songs he has added to this mix (his own), are all amazing. But the intro, that's the one that remained in my head for days. 'I've grown accustomed to the tune she hums night and noon'. Those lyrics are so infectious. Probably the coolest way to start a mix, and prepare the audience for the madness that is about to happen. An amazing mix. What's there to say? Finnbarr, you legend. Keep on providing us with awesome music. Whatever he touches, turns into Gold! And this mix, is certifiably GOLD! • Qlimax 2003 20 YEARS TRIBUTE mixed by Coarsection (2023)

Qlimax. A true Hardstyle lover knows this event, and if you are a die-hard fanatic, you've been to it. Started back in 2000 and still going strong. A lockdown did not even stop it, and it's been providing the harder styles fans years of pleasure. It's been an event many have talked about, and still adore to this day. I have unfortunately never been, as tickets sell out like hot cakes, and I'm a tad lazy too, but during the Millennium years, I did buy all the compilations released via Q-Dance. I did love the Hardstyle, Hard Trance, and Hard House released during the 2000nd, and someone has made an appreciation mix for Qlimax being around 20 years (this year it will be 21 years!). I do remember buying the albums and finding them all extremely dope. I think it was around 2009 or 2010 when it wasn't my 'thing' anymore, and I drifted away, but I still appreciated the event a lot. For those who've been around for many years, we all remember those DVDs you would purchase, showing snippets from the event, or those images of the event, mainly showing the ridiculous laser shows they had. I think I've seen more Qlimax picture in my lifetime, compared to other major event. Qlimax was everywhere, and became the place to be, or go to. This is one jam packed mix. 83 minutes long, and 30 records you all know (unless you are too young). The selection by Coarsection is really good, and it is a proper throwback to when Qlimax wasn't just focussed on Hardcore, Hardstyle and Hard House, but also had Hard Trance and Subground a.k.a. UK Hard House. Those days are gone, and so are also the sounds from those early years. Which records were selected for this mix? You really should check this out, it's a good one! Sa.Vee.Oh - Loop Hole Philippe Rochard - Music Machine Thomas Rubin - Cold Night Arome - Visions Of Paradise (DJ Scot Project Remix) DJ Theo & Louis Brain - Trashin' Madness (Julian DJ & Davide Sonar Vision Mix) Deepack vs Luna - Stomper Brooklyn Bounce - X2X (We Want More) (Deepack Remix) Deepack - 100% Ultra Tech - Bel-E-Ve Pincky - Meet My Beat (Hard Mix) Deepack - Down Low Hardside - Welcome (Pincky Mix) Analogic Disturbance - Wait A Second (Rave Mix) Chiren - Equalize It DJ Trilok - Effected Demons On Dope - Die Die Die (Mavor vs Mark Nails Remix) Krash - The World (Attack Version) Donkey Rollers - Motherfuck (DJ Zany Remix) The Pitcher - Pump It Loud! And I wonder why that is the case, as they should be played more often. This is dope as fuck. These songs truly gave us reasons to dance on the dancefloors all over the world. It made a whole new generation of ravers dance until sunrise. I love the blend between multiple harder styles, which was a thing back in the day. An album could be as diverse, but you still absorbed it like a sponge, as you wanted to hear the biggest songs out there, the coolest, and the meanest. You just wanted to loose yourself in the moment, and a lot of these records did that. Not just at Qlimax, but also at events I've been too. These songs did appear on many compilations, and I remember hearing them when they were released. And I found them all dope as fuck. I wasn't just focussed on one hard style, but everything hard enough for my ears. Hardstyle was always the main focus, don't get me wrong, but Hard Trance, Hard House, and other styles were given the right amount of space to expand their fanbase and give the ravers what they needed to hear. It has all changed slightly (*ahum*). There are a lot of awesome records in here, and they really take me back in time. Having a headset on and blowing my ears to smithereens! Hell yeah, those were the dope days. Especially when 'Stomper', 'Motherfuck', 'Stereo Killa', and 'Visions Of Paradise' came on. What a bunch of records! They don't make 'em like back in the days anymore. The mix itself is a nice one, but has got a few mixing errors and recording errors. Nothing too major, but noticeable though. I do appreciate the concept though, and more of these mixes should be made. The more, the merrier! • Bryan Kearney - Peak Time Trance Mix (2021)

Remember COVID-19? When it arrived, it made the world loose their minds, and the whole world went into lockdown. Even us the UK had to go into lockdown, which was unpleasant for many, and it was difficult to get our heads around the idea of being at home 24/7, working, or being furloughed. For me it was like any other week, as I worked from home most days anyway. But yeah, it was different, but it got us humans closer to each other, even though we were miles away from each other. Zoom calls, silly games, and kitchen/bedroom DJ sets. Those were the things we did. Plenty of DJs kept themselves busy (and in the spotlight) during lockdown. As I was constantly working, I had no time to go online and watch them on Twitch and other platforms. And lockdown happened nearly 4 years ago, so I'm not really quick in finding these mixes and talking about them. One of those mixes I found, was one made by the legendary DJ and producer Bryan Kearney, and it's jam packed with Trance anthems. And when I say anthems, I do mean anthems. And as I'm currently riding a classic Trance wave, I needed more big Trance mixes. This one cropped up when I was looking for awesome mixes, and there's a good reason for it. Yes, he's DJing in his kitchen, but it was during COVID. Things were different. Life was different. Wouldn't want to go back. It was a horrendous time. Never again. Let's see what Kearney was cooking in his kitchen, and what the outcome of his kitchen session was: Push - Strange World Ralph Fridge - Angel Vengaboys - Kiss (Airscape Remix) Moonman - Don't Be Afraid DJ Tiesto - Sparkles (Transa Remix) Second Sun - Empire (Paul van Dyk Remix) Carlo Resoort - Remover Blank & Jones - Cream (Paul van Dyk Remix) Apoptygma Bezerk - Kathy's Song (Ferry Corsten Remix) Svenson & Gielen - Twisted Rank 1 vs John O'Callaghan vs Nalin & Kane - Out Of Beachwave (Bryan Kearney's Cream Ibiza Edit) Cygnus X - Superstring (Rank 1 Remix) Art Of Trance - Madagascar (Ferry Corsten Remix) Paul van Dyk feat Hemstock & Jennings - Nothing But You Gouryella - Walhalla Tillmann Uhrmacher - On The Run (Ocean To Shore Club Mix) Yes, yes, yes. What a mixture of records. They are big anthems, just what I needed to hear. And it's got the one track in here I adored when I was still going to Trance parties, especially when Sensation was a new phenomena. Of course, I'm talking about 'Superstring' by Cygnus X, remixed by Rank 1. A truly phenomena, this track certainly had everything the Trance community needed to hear. Bryan's selection is great. Not a fan of 'Out Of Beachwave', as the originals should not be mashed up, but left on their own, but that's just a personal opinion. Wouldn't class it as a bad song though, but I'm just feeling the originals more. But the best track selected by Bryan has to be 'Remover' by Carlo Resoort. The other day I did a review of an appreciation mix, focussed on the awesome 4 Strings, and 'Remover' has to be one of the greatest tracks ever made, right? A solid mix. A few years too late, but at least I'm enjoying it. This takes me back to a) the Millennium years and b) lockdown. Fuck option b, option a all the way! Back to the 2000nd! • Darren Simpson - 4 Strings Special (AH.FM Exclusive Mix) (2016)

Happy New Year to you all! Hope you had a nice holiday, and hope it was as festive as you wished it would be. Now we are all in 2024, and let's kick off the year with an amazing mix I only discovered a few days ago, and I've fallen in love with immensely. You know when you hear something that good, it takes over everything in your life, and you cannot control yourself anymore. This is one of those mixes that I didn't know I had to hear, and the second I heard it fully, it went on repeat for days on end. Yes, it's that cool! During the Millennium years, you could not go anywhere without hearing songs by 4 Strings. They were literally everywhere, and the biggest hits were played on the radio and you could find them on many compilations. You know the hits I'm talking about; 'Take Me Away', 'Believe', and 'Turn It Around'. Trance was still a new thing for me, so I didn't invest too much time in each act: I just wanted to absorb as much as I could. So I knew of 4 Strings, but never knew the ins- and outs. So how did I find this mix? Well, I was in a Millennium Trance mood, and whenever I think of the 2000nd, I always think of a certain Carlo Resoort song. A quick look on Discogs gave me the answer of which track I was looking for, but it also opened my eyes as to his aliases. He's not just Carlo Resoort, he's also Carlos (who made The Silmarillia, which is probably my first ever Trance track on CD single) and also part of 4 Strings. That I didn't know. And I only listened to whatever was on the compilations I owned. It was the early days of the internet, so I was only focussed on whatever was on the discs in front of me. I wasn't aware of the full discography of 4 Strings, but when I put 2 and 2 together, I quickly had a look on my trusted old friend Soundcloud, and found this mix by Darren Simpson. A 4 Strings appreciation mix, shall we call it. 4 Strings - Summer Sun (DJ 4 Strings Mix) 4 Strings - Take Me Away (Into The Night) (Original Vocal Club Mix) 4 Strings - Desire (Original Mix) Carlo Resoort - Remover (4 Strings Mix) 4 Strings - Mainline (Original Mix) 4 Strings - Let It Rain (Mystery Vocal Remix) 4 Strings - Catch A Fall (Club Mix) Carlos - The Silmarillia 2007 (4 Strings Extended Remix) 4 Strings - Hurricane (DJ 4 Strings Mix) 4 Strings - Daytime (Gizeh Remix) I have listened to this mix over and over, for days in a row. This is such a dope mix, and the selection is great. You know, sometimes you just have the urge to listen to something, and when you do find exactly what you were looking for, it makes you extremely happy and feeling satisfied. This is how I felt the first time I heard this mix. I felt satisfied. Pleased with myself and with the music I just re-discovered. There is something so pleasing in finding something so good, it makes you just feel elated. Like it has elevated me to the next fucking level. Darren Simpson's mix has done exactly that, and even though it's only 10 records, it's an hour of pleasure. The songs still rock, and can be seen as all-time classics. Obviously 'Take Me Away' is a huge hit, but let's not forget 'The Silmarillia'. The original was slightly better though. This extended version is good, but not as good as the version I had as a CD single. And I truly believe it was my first ever Trance single. I might be wrong, or right. Who knows? My God, it is hit after hit. But you know when it goes from 'big hits' to 'heavenly anthems'? From 'Desire'. The 5 songs in a row are just the finest Trance anthems ever made! Yes, that's one hell of a statement, but fight me in the comments though. They are solid as a rock. No messing about, pure Trance Heaven here. Those 5 records are my favourites of this mix. The others are good, but these 5 are just much, much better. They take me back to the golden years of Trance, when I was a young lad, discovering this 'new' thing called Trance. This made me happy, and still makes me happy, to this day. 20+ years, and it still sounds fresh, and still worthy to hear in a club or at a party, and you can still close your eyes and raise your hands in the air, and you will feel enlightened. A fucking solid mix. This is one I highly recommend. 4 Strings, they ruled during the Millennium years. They still release music, but the Millennium sound is just some next level shit! Is this going to be the only Trance mix you need to hear in 2024? It is fucking awesome though. It might be an 8 year 'old' mix, but it hasn't aged at all. It's still fresh. This is timeless music. • MIX #71 | PITCHED-UP HARDCORE CLASSICS | 160 - 205 BPM (2023)

OK, OK. I said that it was probably going to be the last review when I was finishing up the previous review, but I could not resist a mix I only found about 2/3 hours ago. I found this mix, which was uploaded onto Hardcore Power Radio's Soundcloud channel, which contains pitched-up Hardcore classics. Now those are words I can work with, and words I do love. Early this year I discovered this channel, and reviewed their megamix (which got 3 out of 5 stars), and they've slipped through the cracks somehow. But don't you worry, this mix I could not ignore, as the first impressions are good. Hardcore? Check. Pitched up? Check. The concept seems simple, and it is. Just classics, pitched up. Voila, concept is born. It's not always required though, as the original versions might be perfect, but sometimes the pace needs to be a bit faster than normal, and for those moments, the tunes need to be pitched slightly. Not too fast though, because if it's too fast, it becomes unlistenable. You don't want to hear songs that are normally around 150/160 BPM all of a sudden be 250 BPM. That becomes rubbish in a split second. Pitch it perfect, and the song becomes even better?! At first glance, looking at the tracklist, it's got some sick anthems in here. Some new ones too, but it's a mixture of old and new. And it also has a few tracks in here you don't hear that often. Oh, and Hardcore Power Radio has added a lot of DJ Promo records in here. You might even think they are a fan of Promo. But name me one who isn't? Promo is a legend. But so are the others too in this mix. Now you are curious, right? Well, here's the list for you ravers out there: Promo - What The Fuck? Catscan - Enemy On The Run Razzle Dazzle Trax - Rattlebrain (DJ Isaac's Overdrive Mix) Mad Dog - You Don't Belong D-Passion - Blacklist Amok Promo - Patterns In Chaos Promo - Emotions Over Anger Promo - King Of Pain Menace II Society - Chronic Disorder Marc Acardipane - Atmos-Fear (DJ Mad Dog Remix) The Darkraver & DJ Vince - Thunderground (KELTEK Remix) DJ Waxweazle - Hardcore Power '97 (DJ Promo Remix) Promo - Running Against The Rules Placid K - G Member Ophidian & Tapage - The Mine Tommyknocker - Sometimes Mindustries - Facerocker Miss K8 - Icebreaker (Nosferatu Mix) Angerfist - Buckle Up And Kill Lenny Dee - The Dreamer (Promo Remix) Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - DJ Fuck Promo - Cheating Bitch (Dedicated) Masters Of Ceremony - Hardcore To Da Bone (N-Vitral Remix) T.O.P.D.R.O.P. - Achtung 2010 (Angerfist Remix) Lil Texas - 400 Rounds This is literally a mixture of everything Hardcore, be it old and new. We jump backwards and forwards constantly, and that makes the mix interesting. Also the records used in this mix sound good. Quick question though: is KELTEK's remix of Thunderground Hardcore, or more Hardstyle? I do like the selection, and they are quite diverse. And I'm not even complaining about the DJ Promo records, as they are everyone's favourite records. If not, please go away. You cannot hate the legend, the Millennium master. The mix itself is OK, and I really like the majority of records. Not feeling the KELTEK or Lil Texas song though, but that could just be me. I do get why you end with '400 Rounds'. My favourite song is one made by Mad Dog. As he's had an insane few years, he's given us the urge to appreciate Downtempo, and take it back to the roots of Hardcore. 'You Don't Belong' is such a masterpiece of a record. Come on, there's no denying it! Some tiny mixing errors and two 'meh' records. Not bad to be fair though. This mix has been on loud since I pressed play, and you should do the same. Pitch it the fuck UP! • Trance Classics Vinyl Only Winter Mix (By Divine) (2023)

Last review of the day. Maybe of the year. Who knows. Maybe I can get myself behind my laptop tomorrow, or not. Only one way to find out. But for now, let me introduce the next mix. This one has been made by Divine, and has been uploaded onto Addicted to Trance's Soundcloud channel. As the image suggests, this is a Winter mix. Hopefully we won't have a Winter that bad. Imagine seeing that out of your window first thing in the morning? Maybe I should invest some pounds into snow tires? But it's still mild, so I'm glad. But it is the Winter period though, so we can enjoy this mix, wherever you are on this Earth. This is a very fresh mix, and it has been only a few hours online. And as the title suggests, it's a Trance classics mix, with some big tracks in the mix. An hour and 23 minute long mix with some beautiful, inspiring songs. Who doesn't want to hear that? The songs are solid as a rock, and they will uplift you to a state of absolute bliss. I'm a Trance fan since the late 90s, and have listened to many songs, but not all of them. So I'm still discovering songs that have been out for many years/decades. This mix has got a few of them that I've not heard before, including remixes of classic anthems I've not heard before. But I don't care. It's all about the vibes, and the vibes are good. Not feeling the Winter elements of this mix, but I still feel enlightened. I feel more relaxed and calm, and euphoric. It's a nice blend, and you will love it. Let's have a quick look at the tracklist: Estuera vs Re-Locate - Palma Solane Jonas Steur - Silent Waves Midway - Cobra (Original Mix) Mesh - Purple Haze Envio - Touched By The Sun (Original Mix) Sun Decade - I'm Alone (Micro De Govia Dub) Blue Horizon - The Journey (Pulser Remix) Firewall - Sincere (Pulser Remix) Push - Strange World (Spectrum Remix) Active Sight - Out Of Our Lives DJ Danjo & Rob Styles - Duende (Signum Remix) ALFA - Sacrosanct A short list, but it's not the amount of songs used in a mix that matters: it's about the songs and how powerful they are. And I can assure you, that there are powerful anthems in this mix. There are truly amazing records. The peak for Trance (for me) was between 1999 and 2007, those were the years. The early early stuff is a bit of hit & miss for me personally, but the Millennium years were the greatest years by far. And I bought many albums with stunning songs on them. One of the songs that I do remember hearing back in the day, made its way into this mix, and it is still a favourite of mine. Guess which one? You wouldn't have a clue, don't know why I asked you to guess it. But it's Mesh's 'Purple Haze'. Beautiful song. Doesn't need much to uplift you. But 'Cobra' by Midway is the next song I truly love, it's close second. Divine has made a very interesting mix with some big hitters. End the year with some fine Trance anthems from back in the day. Christmas is over, celebrate the new Year in style. Close your eyes, and let the music take you places you've never been before! A solid mix, DJ Divine! • Iridium DJ Presents The Golden Days Of Early Hardstyle - December 2023

The end of the year is near. And let's end with something hard and rough. We started today with an 80s Pop mix filled with guilty pleasure songs, and let's remain in the past. Not that far back though, only a few decades back in time. The early years of Hardstyle, when they were seen as the golden years of Hardstyle. Iridium DJ has got you covered. And it might not sound very celebrative, but at least the image he used for this mix looks very festive. Let's end the year on a positive note, shall we? I grew up listening to Hardstyle (when it was new and exciting), and it could not have sounded any different from the current sound coming out of the scene. But things change, and that's just a fact. At least we've got mixes like this one, they will certainly take us back in time. You just need to close your eyes and you are back in the early years. It's as simple as that! For this mix he has selected 18 records, and those 18 will certainly get you moving. You cannot just sit still and absorb these songs, you HAVE to move. Well, you don't have to, but your body will automatically get up from the chair/sofa/bed you are sitting/laying on, and you will start raving your ass off. These are some big hitters from the forgotten era, and you'll appreciate them as much as I have. Just have a look at these songs, you won't regret it! Charlie (B)Rwon - Slam N Jam (Tatanka Remix) Tuneboy - Housenation (Da Kicker Strikes Again Mix) Brain Ovulation - Kicks & Bass (Acid Step Mix) Warmduscher - 10 Kleine Bassdrums (Pille Palle Mix) DJ Vortex & Arpa's Dream - Navimel (Original Mix) Technoboy - Ravers Rules (K-Traxx Remix) DJ Zany - Sky High (Original Mix) Ramirez - El Ritmo Barbaro (Moratto Remix) Autokriminal - Express J. Technoboy - Hardrive (Lesson 2) Thomas Trouble & Blutonium Boy - Go Burn A Fatty Ass (Blutonium Boy Hardstyle Mix) Ard und Jorn - 16 (DJ Nagoom Mix) Autokriminal - Baila Conmigo (Original Mix) Julian DJ & Davide Sonar - Techno Noise (Original Frequency Mix) Arne L ll & DJ Mirko Milano - Freak In Me (Original Mix) Jimmy The Sound - M.O.D.U.L.O. (One Vrs) Taq 9 - Slavez (Original Mix) Showtek - Controller (DJ Duro Mix) There are some big hitters in this mix, and for me, two stand out the most, as they were on my favourite mixed CD compilations from the early years. You will never be able to guess which two I'm talking about, so let me tell you the two records I'm talking about. 'M.O.D.U.L.O.' and 'Go Burn A Fatty Ass'. Those were my favourites in this mix. I bought many compilations, and when I discovered these two songs on certain albums, I fell in love with them, and they have been in my top 10 of all time Hardstyle anthems. I can still see the albums if I close my eyes and even know the label that released them, but for the life of me, I cannot remember the title of the CDs. I know I still have them somewhere, must do some digging later. An amazing selection by Iridium DJ. Yet another wicked mix. And it's a good one to end the year with. It will (hopefully) not be the last early Hardstyle mix by Iridium, as I would like to hear and see more of these mixes. They take me back to my happy years when I was in my teens/twenties. I need to relive those years more often. They make me happy, as this mix has. • 80s Guilty Pleasures Pop Mix 1 - 27-12-23

Back in 2022, I discovered a Soundcloud channel, run by Craig Scott, and since that moment, I have been checking his page out nearly on a daily basis. It started with a Plymouth Warehouse Techno mix, followed by an Oldskool Hardcore Rave mix, and then the successful Hardcore Breakz mix series, which still to this day can be considered one of the finest mix series on Soundcloud. Yes, that might be a statement, but it's the truth. But today, the 30th of December, we won't be listening to some Hardcore anthems. We are going back in time, to the 80s. And it's going to be a mix filled with guilty pleasure songs. You ready for it? I was born in the 80s, and I'm glad that I did. Imagine waking up into a world, not having experienced the 80s at all! Not just the 80s, but the music from the 80s. Those were glorious years, a fantastic decade. And even though Craig has called this a guilty pleasure mix, these songs aren't really guilty pleasure songs, right? They are classics that everyone loves and adores. If you have a look at the tracklist, you won't find one song you truly hate. Not one! In our household we listen to a lot of 'old' music, and it ranges between the 80s, 90s and 00s. Yes, 90s might have been a tad closer to me, as I was a full on teenager throughout the 90s, but quality-wise, the 80s were much better, right? Music was so much more than life. Songs were different, and had this distinctive sound, which we don't hear or see anymore in pop music, and it's just so smooth to hear. 80s music is much more smooth to listen to. You can play present day pop music at a birthday party, and there will always be people complaining about the music. Put 80s music on, and no one will complain. It's a perfect decade, right? Which 'guilty pleasure' songs did Craig select for this mix? Madonna - Lucky Star Duran Duran - Girls On Film Billy Ocean - Caribbean Queen Freeez - IOU Whitney Houston - How Will I Know Cameo - Word Up Phil Collins - Sussudio Johnny Hates Jazz - Shattered Dreams Steve Winwood - Valerie David Bowie - Let's Dance Madonna - Into The Groove Duran Duran - The Reflex Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun The Human League - Don't You Want Me Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody Ollie & Jerry - There's No Stoppin Us Deniece Williams - Let's Hear It For The Boys Jermaine Stewart - We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off Yes, these are the big hits from the 80s. Not all of them. Christ, if Craig had to make a mix with ALL the big hits, the mix would be days long! The mix is 62 minutes long, got 18 records, and the length is just perfect. What else is there to listen to, between Christmas and New Year's Eve? That's correct, no more Christmas songs! Let's go back in time to the 80s! They are all solid songs. And it's funny to actually see the artist names next to some songs, as I know the songs, but never know who did the song. Like 'Valerie', 'Shattered Dreams', 'Word Up' etc. You know the songs, and sing them along whenever they are on, but ask me the artist name? My mind goes blank. Yes, this is slightly different to what you are normally seeing on my site, but I don't care. It's a Craig Scott mix, and I love his mixes. He's got a lot of mixes on his Soundcloud and YouTube, and if you are into this and are open-minded, you can check his other stuff out too. The 80s are just so much happier, when it comes to pop music. And these aren't just guilty pleasure songs: they are anthems for my generation. The young kids don't know that these tunes were ours when we grew up, and they made us happier. No need for shaking your booty or breasts and swearing in your songs. You just needed to have the capability to sing, and you could sing about anything! And it would be a hit. The current pop music producers could only wish they would have the capability to make present day music as timeless as music released in the 80s and 90s. That's a trade skill they lost over the years. The best song? Tricky, I love them all equally. But Jermaine Stewart's song has got to be the coolest, happiest, and maybe a bit cheesy, but it's so God damn cheerful. Such an innocent song, but a song that will remain in your head for a whole year. Well, for maybe a day and a half, until the next year comes along. Another solid mix by Craig. Loving the vibes, loving the 80s. More please! More of those. Keep them coming! • EVOLUTION records classics showcase (170+BPM) (10.04.2017)

OK, one more review today. Started off with some Hardcore, and now we are still listening to Hardcore. But not the Hardcore you are thinking off, but the UK Hardcore side of it all. Specifically, the Evolution Records side of UK Hardcore, the label run by Scott Brown. A man who I have adored for many years, and the label that (to me) has released the best records ever made. Well, the label was run by Scott Brown and most of the tunes were his own, but no one cares. Scott Brown is, was, and will forever be a pioneer of the scene. The saviour. The legend. The godfather of UK Hardcore. Or just a God, depending on your views. And now, on the 29th of December, you can appreciate it even more... I saved a Hard Trance mix the other day, made by Audioholik, and I wanted to hear something else. I know the DJ for his Hard Trance mixes, and I was pleasantly shocked when I found this UK Hardcore mix. I wasn't expecting it, but now I found it, I don't want to let it go. I need to listen to it again. Why? Well, there's multiple reasons for it, but let me drill it down to a few reasons: 1) it's made by Audioholik, 2) it's an Evolution Records showcase mix 3) it's got Scott Brown records. No need for more reasons, right? UK Hardcore has been running down my veins since the early 2000nd, and to this day am I an avid fan of the genre. Nothing can beat the Millennium sound, and Scott Brown and his label played a crucial part during those years. I've absorbed his music so much, I can go to sleep and still hear his music haunting me, and I wouldn't be scared. His music has become timeless, and it is obvious at a rave: play a Scott Brown record, and everyone will loose their freaking minds! Audioholik's mixes have always been extremely entertaining, but with this mix he gained another level of respect from me. His channel is now one of the GOAT channels on Soundcloud. Fact. Scott Brown - Out Of My Brain Scott Brown & Cat Knight - All About You Scott Brown - Push It (Music Please) Plus System - Let's All Get Down Scott Brown - Definition Of A Bad Boy Plus System - Blue Anthem Scott Brown - Hardcore Is The Future Plus System - Do It Like We Do Scott Brown - Neckbreaker (Plus System mix) Plus System - This Is How We Do It Scott Brown - Hardcore Hustler (Hardcorevolution Mix) Plus System - Serial Killler Scott Brown - Pro To Plasm Plus System - Rhythm Machine Q-Tex - Like An Angel Scott Brown - Taking Drugs Plus System - Prince Of Darkness Scott Brown - We're Droppin' This Plus System - Make You Freak Scott Brown - Make The Beat Drop Plus System - Bassline Of The Century Scott Brown - The Stranger Plus System - Dehumanize Scott Brown - Hardcore U Know The Score This is like a wet dream, isn't it? If you are into UK Hardcore, you will love this mix a lot. Scott Brown is just such a legend, and his music will make you love life even more. Where would we be without Scott and his label? Audioholik's mix contains a lot of timeless anthems, and as a true fan, you must know them all by heart. You can sing them all, and now when the beats drops, when the vocals come in, etc. These songs are embedded into our brain, and we are so much in love with Scott's music, he has become (without knowing) our saviour. His music can sound so happy and uplifting, and sometimes that is just what we need. He has made some harder anthems too, let's not forget those. But the focus now lies with the UK Hardcore/Happy Hardcore side of the label. There are too many anthems to choose a favourite. But the one that gets me going the most, has to be 'Taking Drugs'. Closely followed by 'Make You Freak'. If I'm on the dancefloor and either of these songs come on, I raise my hands in the air, and loose myself completely. Why has this style never caught on in the Netherlands? This should have been embraced by the Dutch. A fantastic mix by Audioholik. His Scot Project mixes were awesome too, but I've got to give this mix all the credit it deserves, and also all the credit should go to Scott and his label. Oh, how I love his music!!! Audioholik, please make more of these UK Hardcore mixes. Please!!! • Alternative Hardcore Yearmix 2023 - Mixed by Sound Abuse

The end of the year is near, and year mixes are coming out of the woodworks. And I'm glad that they do. They highlight how great (or shit) a year has been, and some of those mixes you look forward to, and some you just want to see disappear, the same way 2023 is about to disappear. One of the mixes I wasn't expecting, could probably be the one for you all to listen to. It's made by Sound Abuse, and it's a 57 minute long mix, with 53 records in them. That should be sufficient, right? 2023 has been a weird year for Hardcore, as a plethora of records were released which I thought were just OK, and some were just insanely good. But there has also been a chunk of records ready to go into the bin. A mixed year, but it might have been a great year for you all. How has 2023 treated you all? Has it been a good year, a mixed year, or a shit year? The only thing you could say, is the fact that the year has certainly not been boring. It's been interesting, and I truly found it cool to discover new music. And especially when it was records that could revive the early Hardcore sound. One of my favourite records of the year is in this mix, but can you guess which one it is? Bit tricky if this is your first time on this page, but don't you worry. I'll reveal the answer soon. But for now, let's focus on the tracks used by Sound Abuse, and how they got them all in a 57 minute long mix. Hardez - Technology Pt.1 Negative A - Freak Response Armageddon Project - Believe Satronica & Lenny Dee - Call The Man (Buzz Fuzz Remix) BangBas feat CitronHead - Fixing What Matters Cubic Nomad - Difficult Situation Starving Insect & Catscan - Merged With Silence Mad Dog & Marc Acardipane - Sick With It (Original Mix) Ritchie Gambino - I'm Sick Of All These Lies Electronic Mind Expansion - Old Hag Miro - Golden Dawn Daniela Haverbeck - La Serpiente RVLT - As We Kick Promo - Counter Attack (Starving Insect Remix) Furyan - Mysteries Of Creation Alex B - Heredity Unleashed Kilbourne - Milkshake Dustrializer - Dustortion Ragnarok - Sleepless The Silence - Remain Calm E-Noid - Face Of Chaos Neophyte & The Viper - 2 Much Junk Densha Crisis - A Sun That Never Rises Collision - Sinstate The Ravenous - Eye Opener Darksider - Artificial Blood Kader & God Complex - World Domination Noisia & The Upbeats - Dead Limit (Evil Activities Remix) Fixxxer Acid - Wardcore Embrionyc - The Way I Like It Neophyte & The Stunned Guys - Get This Motherfucker (Restrained Remix) Detest - Die In Hell Miss Hysteria - Escape (Lunatic & Rapture Remix) Csabi - Clone DJ Salvo - In The Club Sunkt8 - Hiatus Dark Phoenix - Forever The Prophet - Big Boys Don't Cry (From The Hard Remake) Visceral - Age Of Reason Dione - Back 2 Da Oldskool Viruz - Assassinate Estefania Jimarez & Otnislash - Oldskool Rave Square Dimensione - Brand New Dance (Johnny 7 Remix) The 3eyed - Swarm Of Vipers Hellfish - Tuning Arkhyanax - Renegade Bloodred Shadow - Haagenti Angerfist & Detest - The Untouchables Tha KroniK - Hardcore Dangerous Lenny Dee - Forgotten Moments (DJ Mutante Remix) SpeedyQ's - No More Yin (IND Remix) Ani Klang - God Complex Micron - Journey To The Bottom Of The Sea The mix starts of slow, if I can call it 'slow'. For the true Hardcore fanatic, it isn't slow, but perfect. But for some it might sound dreadful, true sound abuse, but whatever camp you are in, you should appreciate Hardcore. If you aren't a lover of it, you can fuck off. Goodbye! Toward the end it goes bananas. It really does. The BPMs go up, and only those that can tolerate the hardest can listen to this. I can listen to all kinds of Hardcore, so I didn't mind it goes bonkers. But what I did notice, is that I only know less than 10% of the artists in this mix. Have I been too long out of the scene? Or are they all new names? Should I spend more time? What's going on? I do love this mix, and there are a lot of excellent tracks. It's quite the diverse mix, and if you are looking for something different yet cool, you are in luck. Sound Abuse have got your back with this yearmix. It's a cool one, that's for sure. My favourite is Restrained remix of an all time classic, which actually sounds better than the original. The original was dope as fuck, but this version is one I prefer more. Who would have thought that, that a remix could be better than a 90s classic, eh? A solid mix. Go and listen to it right NOW. I urge you to do so. You will love it as much as I did. And to prove it? I'll press play yet AGAIN. I want to hear it again! • EHA 22 Yearmix 2023 Mix

Some might say Christmas is over, and you can get rid of your Christmas CDs and stop listening to those Christmas radio stations, and I do agree. Between Christmas and New Year you cannot listen to it anymore, and you need to go back to 'normal'. But what is normal for some, might be a tad different to others. I am one of those weirdos who loves to listen to Hardcore 24/7, and that's exactly what I'm doing right now. I'm listening to a yearmix, done by someone called Nightshifter, which contains a lot of 'new' Hardcore anthems that resemble the 90s sound a lot. And you know I am a sucker for that kind of music. I literally just saw this fly by on my timeline, and I had to jump on it. It is because a) it's got the word 'Yearmix' in the title and b) behind the DJ there are covers of Thunderdome albums, and you gain my attention by showing that. And once I had a quick look at the tracklist, I knew it was going to be a very special mix. It's got so many names in here I recognise, and it's also tracks with this distinctive sound I truly love. I keep forgetting what they call this kind of music, but it's 90s sounding Hardcore but made in the 20s. It's got this specific name, and I don't know what it is. Newskool? Nu Hardcore? I don't know, but if you do, leave a comment below. I do recognise plenty of names in this mix, and it's a mixture of literally everything old and new, but sounding dope as fuck. This is mainly due to the fact that it resembles a sound long lost, which we call 'Early' or '90s' Hardcore. And a handful of artists keep it alive, and I love them for doing exactly that. Hardcore will never die, and I'm glad it's still alive, and still sounding fresh! But what has Nightshifter used for his hour and 15 minute long yearmix? Well, these records: DJ Elmo - We're The Generation Project XTC - Straight Ahead (Hardcore Mix) Predator - Wild Stylz (Original Mix) Mortifer - Artcore Battles Januskopf - Chug-Jug-Chit-Chat (Original Mix) Bio-Forge - Desolated Rhythm Biodome - Do That Shit Stormtrooper & Project XTC - Hoover & Out Predator - Human Blood (Arjuna Remix) Ophidian - Back To The Oldschool Technohead - Smash The Disco (Wicked XXX Remix) Chosen Few feat DJ Pila - The Break (Wicked XXX Remixxxx) Wicked XXX - Acid Dreams Greensequence - Shadows Arvid - Defender Of The Faith Januskopf - Please Refrain From Speaking Biodome - Watch Your Eardrums Pop M-Project - Battlefield Speedy Lo - Destructive DJ Ad - Roots Lenz - Gonna Be Okay Painbringer - Born For This Speedy Lo - I'm Perfekt Biodome vs DJ Ad - Fuck Up The Party Omar Santana - Hype The Funk (Wicked XXX Remix) MESSI4H & Hellboy - Never Turn Your Back On Drugs (Club Mix) The mix has made me a very happy bunny, and the songs are all solid as a rock. I might put out a statement some might disagree with, but to me this new/old sounding Hardcore is the kind of music we should have had in the 90s. Some tracks made in the 90s lacked the quality they put on these newly made records. Not slating the whole scene, but certain records made in the 20s sound way better than some made in the early years. The quality is amazing of some of these records, and by putting them all in one mix, it has made this mix even better. The songs are insane, and truly astonishing, and some exceed my expectations. Hell, if they were released in the 90s, they would have dominated the charts, and would have been on plenty of compilations, and played at many raves, they are that good. The one that stands out the most, has to be M-Project's 'Battlefield'. What a brilliant record. I had to look twice to check if it was indeed a new record, or a track made in the 90s. It's a solid mix with some dope ass records. They are as good as the songs released in the 90s. And some would have suited it extremely well. Or, to put it in my own terms: the 90s have never ended, and it's still going on strong. The sound will never die, and I'm so happy. 90s Hardcore is just sublime, and it has made thousands/millions of people happy. And if you are one of those people, you will certainly like this mix too! • BREAK THE RULES YEARMIX 2023

It is now the 28th of December 2023, and we've all gone through the few festive days we like to call Christmas. I hope you all had a wonderful time, and have recovered from the amount of food and drinks you have stuffed down your throat. It is still 2023, but not for long. 3 more days until 2024, which sounds weird, but let's end this year with something special. A mix by a legendary Rawstyle DJ and producer DJ Jason Payne. He has uploaded a mix just before Christmas, and you might have already spotted it, but if you haven't, check it out right now. A few years ago I discovered Jason Payne, and fell in love with his mix, and the songs he made. I can't remember which mix it was, could have been a promo mix for an event. I cannot find it anymore, but what I still know (and have today), is love for his music. His latest mix is called 'Break The Rules Yearmix 2023', and even though I spend a lot of time on Soundcloud, I don't know anything about this 'Break The Rules'. Can anyone update me please, on what this is all about? Is it a new label? A collective? Whatever it is, I'll find it out. But for now, let's focus on this mix. And the mix is only 52 minutes long, and it contains 21 unknown records (to me). The only name that rings a bell, is the name of the DJ (no, not Chosen Few): Jason Payne. So seeing as I go into this mix blind, let's just dive straight into it, and let me show you the tracklist, and maybe you, the connoisseur, might know who the other artists are and know their tracks... Jason Payne - Never Let You Go Undesired - Reason Proteaz & Solutio - Luminous CREST - Anything Is Something Cybershock - East Coast Undesired - Bring It Proteaz - Child's Play Undesired - Raving Crew Jason Payne - Turn Up The Noise Cybershock - Money Drop Undesired - Oldschool Cybershock - Me Against The World Animosity - Click Clack Undesired - Darkness Jason Payne - One Shot Sabotage - Do My Thing Cybershock - The Business Undesired & Fatal - Ungrateful Little B!tch Jason Payne & Collusion - DNGRS Fatal - Live Or Die Undesired - The Psychopath This (to me) looks like an interesting tracklist, but it's all about the music. And the music is what kept me focussed on this mix from the start to the finish. And I've had this on repeat, I am that dedicated to this. I really love Rawstyle, and love the music, as it's raw, rough, and tough, and hearing new music always makes me smile a bit more. This Break The Rules yearmix is a good one, and if you are into Rawstyle, you will appreciate it a lot. And you even get festive wishes from a few of the artists throughout the mix, which is a nice addition. There's a plethora of awesome records, but the records that made me move the most, are the ones made by Undesired, especially 'Raving Crew' and 'Bring It'. A new name to me, but one I will certainly look out for. The melodic aspects of Undesired is what makes me love the songs. Jason Payne's year mix is a solid one, and if you haven't checked it out yet, make sure you do! You won't be disappointed, and as there's fuck all on the radio between Christmas and New Year, why not let Rawstyle be your guide throughout the last few days of 2023? • Si Thompson - February Breakbeat & Hardcore (3-2-2022)

Last mix before I sign off, and start enjoying the festive season. I thought I'd end it with a nice Breakbeat mix, and one that I found a few weeks ago. It's not really Christmassy, but close enough, as the image above looks colourful and very festive. That's the only resemblance to the festive few days ahead. Everything else is just Breakbeat and Hardcore, and nothing else. And we need something to keep us going. Si Thompsons mix contains the right amount of excellent Breakbeat and Hardcore anthems, and you'll thank me later for sharing this. It's not a brand spanking new mix, but age doesn't matter, does it? As long as it rocks, and this one rocks. I am always very enthusiastic about Breakbeat songs, and this mix has got a few that I recognised, and a few I might have heard/seen before, but never really paid attention to. Or not even heard before. Well, don't blame me for not knowing everything, as there's still so many great anthems out there I haven't discovered yet. Too much music, so little time. Normally mixes by Si are short, but this one is a nice length. Roughly an hour, and a shit ton of amazing Breakbeat/Hardcore/Rave anthems from back in the day. And I should not continue talking bollocks, I should just dive straight into the mix, and show you what you are about to listen to, if you haven't already: Bass Selective - Drum Thunder Kid Andy & Nickle Bee - Push It To The Limit Kid Andy & Nickle Bee - I Am Crazy Freestyle & DJR - Feed Back Hedgehog Affair - The Pipe SMD 4 - Untitled (Side A) SMD 4 - Untitled (Side B) Austin - I Get High ('93 Remix) The Invisible Man - The End... (Drug Induced Psychosis Mix) Tango - Future Followers The Prodigy - Your Love Chaos & Julia Set - Scud Beats Unknown Artist - Above The Clouds ('21 Jungle Remix) DJ Kid Andy - Baby Stop Spinning Me Around (Sweet Girl's Mix) A short list, but a powerful one. Si has picked 14 amazing records, and the result is a 55 minute long mix that will fly by before you know it. And of course, you cannot do a mix like this one and NOT have a Prodigy song in it. How could you do that? It's just impossible, right? A solid mix, and it's not the first time I truly enjoyed a Si Thompson mix. There are plenty on his Soundcloud page, so if you are after more of this, there's plenty for you to look out for. The tracks are solid, and the flow is very nice. I've got no negative feedback whatsoever. And you might be thinking 'oh he's picking The Prodigy as his favourite'. And you'd be dead wrong. 'Scud Beats' is my favourite song in this mix. Slightly slower compared to the other songs in this mix, but a dope ass song nonetheless. A truly astonishing track. Get on this right now, and check out hundreds of other mixes on Si's page. You'll love it! • It's Beginning To Sound A Lot Like Christmas (2017)

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the day has arrived. Christmas Eve has arrived, and we are all getting ready to stuff our faces with some unnecessary food items, which we could have eaten throughout the year, but we wait until the end of December to tuck in. We wait, and we also give presents on the 25th of December to those we love and cherish. To me, it's always the same. Socks, bath stuff, and some bits that might go straight in the bin. It's getting a bit boring now, but what isn't getting boring, is our yearly tradition. We always go back to one mix that can only be played in December, and it is largely forgotten about. And the mix is made by the friendly people behind the Soundcloud channel 'History Of Happy Hardcore'. Yes, it's THAT mix I'm talking about! It has had a few plays over the years since it was released back in 2017, but it should get more plays. And it's kind of a tradition for TCD to go back to this mix around the holiday season, and even though I had multiple other mixes ready for a review, I could not give one shiny shite about it, and went back to this one. Why, you might be wondering, and I can't give you an answer to that question, unfortunately. Is it good? Well, in a way, yes. But is it bad? Also yes. Hardcore has been around for a few decades, and it has had its ups and downs. But overall, it has been a great ride for those that have followed the scene since day one. But, like everything successful, things are tried and tested, and unfortunately they don't work. Like combining Hardcore and Christmas. It might have looked great on a piece of paper, but when it came to fruition, it wasn't a success. And it sounds weird, cheesy, and too christmassy, if that's even a thing. But it's like my guilty pleasure, my thing to listen to, if I am in need of getting my spirit uplifted! It can be funny though. But only listen to it a few times, or you go mad. You will loose the plot, and you might think you are Father Christmas. Don't want that to happen though. It is cheesy, but some of these records can be considered classics, if the Christmas element was taken out of the equation. Rotterdam Termination Source - Merry X-Mess The S.T. Crew - Ravin' Angels The S.T. Crew - Christmas With S.T. Scott Brown - Start The Cavalry The Frosties - Frosty The Snowman Carlos Mirilla - Escarola Rob X-Mas - Happy Christmas Santasaurus Rex - Up On A House Top Claustrophobia - X-Mas Rave Holy Shit - Now It's Christmas Davie Forbes - Bingle Jells Brothers In Crime - Sleigh Rave Winter Wonderland - Fuck Christmas Songs Sunblock-X - Carribean X-Mas Claus S - Family X-Mass X-Mass Raver - Hallelujah Sensor - Rudolf The Rednose Ravedeer Santa For President - Santa Is Coming El Bruto - Silverbells Paul Elstak - Hosanna Brothers In Crime - 100% Christmas Scrooge - X-Mass Alone Scarface - Santawaus The Triplets - Marry X-Mazz D & F - No Sleep T'ill X-Mass Bang Crosby - I'm Dreaming Noise Gate - The Magic Sack I've got to say that those that made these songs, they were very inventive. Some of the names used are just hilarious. Claustrophobia? Hilarious. Rudolf The Rednose Ravedeer? Amazing. Bingle Jells? An all time classic title. The songs themselves are as cheesy as you imagine them to be, if you've not heard these songs before. I have, and a billion times at least. They make me happy, and they remind of a time when they experimented with Hardcore and Christmas, which was around 1993 to 1995, if I'm not mistaken. I was around 10 years old, and probably thought this was the coolest thing that has ever been made. Little did I know that I was completely mistaken, and I've changed perspective over the years. But it's still a very jolly mix, and not something you heard that often. It's bad and good at the same time, and as mentioned before, if you took out the Christmas elements, the songs might have actually been all time classics. One of the songs that I still love, is 'The Magic Sack' by Noise Gate. All time classics for me. What's your favourite song in this mix? Leave a comment below, or comment on Soundcloud. Give this mix more praise, and enjoy Christmas this year. Enjoy the next few days, and let HOHH's mix take you through Christmas into the next year! Merry Christmas, you filthy animals! • "D:/CHILDHOOD/TRAUMA/GPF/LIVE/THEPIEPSHOW2023.WAV" I Defqon.1 Weekend Festival 2023 I Friday I UV

From one weird unicorn to two weirdos on Defqon.1 2023. Life is weird, and life can be very unexpected. I didn't go to Defqon.1 this year, as I'm always too damn late in purchasing tickets (I am always seeing posts about events being sold out), but those that did go to it this year, you weren't expecting a big cock boat to float/hoover over you, right? They did the unthinkable, and brought the pinkness to the stage. Not the mainstage yet, but maybe next year? They can dream about it, maybe one day it will happen... I am a fan of GPF and find them quirky as fuck, and I love it. Not everything is a success, but they can make me laugh, whenever I need to be entertained. They make me happy, and seeing them at all these big events, it makes me happy. You might disagree with what they are making and find it ridiculous, and I have to agree with you. Imagine a world without GPF, and it all remains serious and the funny element is gone. But I wouldn't want to live without GPF, the banter is what we need. They did a wonderful job at Defqon.1 this year, and even got Mattie on a boat. How's that for an entrance? The pinkness was seen everywhere, and as standard, there were many blow up dolls, dicks, and condoms They brought the sexiness to the stage, and if an alien would have landed at Defqon.1 and the first thing they were to see, was GPF: would they embrace the pinkness, or return to their home planet, stating Earth cannot be saved, as we are a lost cause? It makes no sense, but so do I. I don't make any sense, and people like/love me still. Hell, I'm married! So I've got at least one fan. GPF have got more fans than ever before, but my wife ain't one of them. Maybe one day I will convert her, but that day isn't near. Maybe in the next century.. Headhunterz - Scrap Attack (Defqon.1 2009 Anthem) (GPF Edit) GPF - Miracle The Lonely Island feat T-Pain - I'm On A Boat GPF & S3RL - Cum Say Henlo GPF & J1zzy - Cummin On Ur Face (Cummy Edit) w/ El Chombo - Chacarron GPF & S3RL & DJ Gollum - Come Inside GPF - Greazy Frog GPF - Farkuador Rooler - MOVE 2 DA BEAT (GPF Remix) Gigi D'Agostino - I'll Fly With You (GPF Edit) Aversion - Activation (GPF Edit) GPF & Levenkhan - ID GPF feat J1zzy - Who's Ur Daddy (Piep Daddy Remix) GPF & D-Fence - Virgin (Kick Edit) GPF - Feeling Blue GPF & Riot Shift - Broccoli Fuck (Kimmercore Rimmercore Piep Fark Remix) Pinkfong - Baby Shark (GPF Edit) GPF & Mind Compressor - Spaghetti Love (Mizz Behave Remix/Spaghettamine Edit) GPF - Numa Numa Backstreet Boys - I Want It That Way w/ GPF - Sloof Lirpa This makes no sense, but who cares? If you watch the YouTube video, you will see everyone loose their minds, and maybe cum in their pants too. I wouldn't argue with that statement, as it's a bit sexy. Not sure what the sexy bit is, but it is sexy. Everyone is having a great time, and especially when GPF trolls the crowd. That's just next level shit. Not the first time they've done that, but it doesn't get old. Will this ever win an award for being awesome? Yes. But it's not about winning awards, it's about winning hearts. People are smiling, and that's all you need to see. The world is already a fucked up place, we need something to liven up the moment. GPF can do that. Sure, I sometimes want my music to be hard, rough, and no nonsense, but every so often I need to have a laugh, a giggle, and seeing two blokes, dressed in pink, on a stage at Defqon.1, ending their set with Sloof Lirpa, that's genius. (Sloof Lirpa is April Fools in reverse, if you haven't noticed it yet). But the best bit of this set wasn't a song. Well, it was the introduction, when they took an already legendary song, and fucked it up. The intro has made me laugh the most! Again, I'll receive some hate for loving GPF, but everyone's entitled to have an opinion. And their music makes me want to touch myself. No other artist has got the power to make me touch myself. Love you, GPF. You have mastered your brand, and your marketing skills are insane! Kudos for those that keep GPF in everyone's pink eye sight. One side note: less microphone. • UOK @ The Qontinent 13/08/2022

I love quirky, and you all know it. If it's something that I could be interested in, I'll listen to it, and if I've got time to write something about it, a review will follow. Over the years I've seen and heard the weirdest shit, but yesterday something appeared on my Soundcloud timeline, something I wasn't ready for, And as said, I do love a bit of weird shit. But a unicorn on ketamine, that's some next level shit. And I can't even describe what it is, I was listening to. It makes no sense, whatsoever... UOK, also known as Unicorn On Ketamine, played at The Qontinent back in 2022. and it played in Area 5, the Uptempo Hardcore area. It's amazing to be asked to play at such an event, especially when you are a horse thing creature. Isn't a unicorn basically a horse with a big stick on its head? Put that creature on ketamine (''Ketamine is for horses, you dumb MF'' - remember that saying?), and you've got something so weird, it's even weird for me. You know I love my weird stuff. I've reviewed many GPF sets over the years, and initially I thought this was a side-project of GPF, but it's not. This is something different, but it resembles the GPF boys a lot. A mask? Check. Piep kicks? Check. Distorted kicks? Check. Fucked up songs? Check. And it gives us an hour of UOK at The Qontinent, which is probably one of the weirdest hours of your life, and once you press play, you won't be able to get that hour back! And it's a weird hour. I've never heard of Unicorn On Ketamine before, but the name now is embedded in my head, for being unique. Seriously fucked up. I cannot describe how weird this is, and what it does to me. In a way it's quirky and funny, and on the other hand it's quirky and too damn silly. It sounds like a hit and miss every so often, but it wouldn't get me off the dancefloor. It can be very intoxicating at the same time, which is good. Truth be told, it does bring some happiness onto the dancefloor, as it is something you don't hear that often, and the sight of someone with a unicorn mask on, that's another thing you don't see that often. Am I wrong in comparing UOK to GPF? It seems that UOK has 'borrowed' a lot of GPF-isms, and made them his own. Both are fucked up, but highly enjoyable, if you open your ears, and let it sink in. Is it perfect? Oh, hell no. There are some songs in here which aren't my cup of tea, but some are genuinely good, and actually very enjoyable! The songs have a bit of both in them. Some songs sound so stupid, you wonder if it's an actual song or just UOK having some banter one day, and releasing the song, and some sound like he put a lot of effort in it, and they actually sound decent enough. UOK 'So Say Goodbye' is a good example. I really like that song, it's different, but fits me well. Would I specifically go to an event and see UOK? Not yet. It is growing on me. Still a long way to go though, but GPF took me a while to get used to. Still worth a follow though. DJ: UOK a.k.a. • Rave-O-Lution Mixtape #008 - Fer-D (2023)

I've been bitten by the 90s bug. And I cannot contain myself. I need more 90s music, and after a quick scroll on Soundcloud, the latest Rave-O-Lution mixtape appeared, mixed by Fer-D. It's been a while since we last encountered a mix by him, but it's never too late to appreciate good music. We actually reviewed the one instalment before the latest one, and we also checked out Fer-D's Bonzai mix, but that was over a year ago. When this mix appeared, I knew it was going to be a great one, and after listening to it once, I knew I was right. As you all know, and if you didn't, you've been living under a rock, but if you didn't, I'm a gabber fan. I grew up in the country that spawned some of the greatest artists ever, and this culture grew so big, it became unstoppable! Even to this day, Hardcore is widely loved, and criticised a lot. You love it or you hate it. But we all have to admit that it's one of those things the Dutch should be proud of, for making bigger than ever. We weren't the only ones, but we certainly had our fair share/input. We made the raves bigger, bolder, and better, and spawned a culture so profound, it sparked fear into many parent's minds. Fer-D's set contains a lot of well known anthems, but also a shit ton of obscure, underground anthems. You might have found them on some compilations, but they have slowly been forgotten about, which is a pity. During the 90s, Hardcore was still in its development phase, and it was growing. It was trying to find its foundation, and once that was laid, everything was build on top of it. But during the first few years, we didn't know what we had, so many of the records just didn't sound like Hardcore, but they were. Many of the big names you might recognise had some kind of part to play in this, and you can find a lot of these names in this mix, including the likes of Scott Brown, Marc Smith, Hooligan, Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo, Gizmo, 3 Steps Ahead, The Prophet, Buzz Fuzz, Davie Forbes, and more. It certainly sounds interesting, and it's one you don't want to miss out on. 303 Abuse - Approach Phase The Bazeman - Martians (The Juno 103 Version) DJ Hooligan - The Culture Genlog - Revolution Speedloader - Suck My Dick Cyclopede - Bassline Technotrance - YRS Stomp (Hyperact Remix) Firestarter - Bass Buzz Acid Heads - Some Sort Of Pill (Equazion Remix) Hyperact - House Aggression Davie Forbes - Techno Renegade (Davie Forbes' Mix) Scott Brown - Detonated Brothers In Crime - Drop Da Beat Tilt! - Sound-State Of Emergency Technological Terror Crew - Polaris The Mover & Rave Creator - O.K. Bassquake Marc Smith - Techno Dup Bertocucci Feranzano - XTC Love DJ Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - Can You Feel It Mass Hypnosis - Artcore (Say What) George Vagas - Hyperdome (Heavens Version) Oh-Bonic - Voice Wave Audio Code - Seminal Disposition Lock Jaw - Underground Funk Wedlock - Terradome Knight Vision - The Dymano Of The Universe Cybernators - Open The Door Sonicdriver - Manic Insanity The Washington Affair - Get Down And .... DJ Gizmo - Ghost The 2 Macks meet Buzz Fuzz - Love And Devotion (Buzzmix) i The Prophet - Allright Now Here We Go!! (Buzzy Goes BZRK Mix) Leroy - F... The World 3 Steps Ahead - We Need Things That Makes Us Go (Senna's Drive Mix) Haardcore - Red Alert Technological Terror Crew - Where Angels Fear To Thread The list is gorgeous, as it contains tracks you don't hear that often. An hour and a half (nearly) of obscure Hardcore anthems. It's something you need to listen to, and it will bring a smile on your face, as there are so many bangers in here. Fer-D has done a marvellous job in composing this mix, and it's nostaglic, to say the least. This takes me right back to my bedroom in Heerlen, during the 90s, with my headset on, enjoying the music, and nothing else. I was there when Hardcore emerged out of nowhere, and I'm glad that I was part of this culture that is still going strong today. The music might sound different, but we should never forget our roots, and what started all of this. I had some difficulties picking a favourite, but I found three that I grew up with, and still love to this day. 'Underground Funk' by Lock Jaw, 'Terradome' by Wedlock, and 'Love And Devotion' by The 2 Macks meet Buzz Fuzz. They define the 90s for me. A solid mix, and you can download this bad boy for free! Hopefully we won't need to wait another year for another mix. We need more of these obscure mixes, as they are a) dope as fuck and b) take us back to a forgotten era that we should all remember and relive, whenever possible! • 1989 - 1993 Old Skool Rave Classics Mix - Techno / Hardcore / House (Part 3) (2023)

The weekend has finally emerged, and after yesterdays oldskool mix, I'm now in a late 80s/early 90s mood. DJ Terror's mix took me back in time, and after waking up this morning, I wanted to hear something that resembled that mix. A quick look on Soundcloud took me to Mickey Beam's latest mix, which is a mix focussed on the four glorious years. 1989 to 1993, which seems years ago, and technically speaking, it is many decades ago, but the music that was made back then, still sounds fresh, and absolutely not dated. Timeless music was made in those 4 years, and you will hear a lot of those classics in this 53 minute long mix. I do love myself a bit of the oldskool. But so does Mickey Beam. The mixes I have discovered so far, were all focussed on the late 80s/early 90s rave music. And the latest one might only be 53 minutes long, but within those minutes he takes you on a pleasant journey through time. And the journey takes us through multiple types of dance music. From Hardcore to Acid House, from Breakbeat to Italo House, and more. Mickey Beam's mixes are always interesting, and he always seems to find the records you need to hear. And normally I am surprised, but this time I'm even surprised more than usual, as most of these records are a bit unknown to me. They are versions of classic anthems that I've not encountered before, so they are different. Of course there are a few that I do know, but I would say 80-85 percent are not known. Let's dive straight into the tracklist, and see what is on offer: Baby D - Casanova (Original Raising Hell Remix) E-Dancer - Velocity Funk Bizarre Inc. - Raise Me (Eon's Mix) The Mixmaster - Grand Piano Terrorize - It's Just A Feeling (Original) Rhythm Section - Is It Real The Maxx - Techno Time w/ Turntable Symphony - Can't Stop Vienna - Tell Me (Innerspace Mix) D'lusion - Take You There (Gat Décor Club Mix) GTO - Pure (Energy) w/ Off-Shore - I Can't Take The Power (Riva Mix) A Guy Called Gerald - Forever Changing Musicology - Obsessed Industrial - Time To Rock (Kore Tip Instrumental) DJ Choci - Hoovers & Spraycans Frank De Wulf - The Tape (Remix) Shades Of Rhythm - Homicide Haywire - Let Me Be Your Fantasy (No Fantasy Phase) Circa '91 - Can You Feel Me Badman & N.D.X. - Higher Than Heaven (DJ Roar Mix) Cartouche - Feel The Groove (Underground Remix) Wow, a trip down memory lane. Been on a few trips down memory lane recently and after hearing this mix and the records used in it, I feel euphoric, nostalgic, and I feel like I'm back in the 90s again. I can just close my eyes and imagine me being back there, when everything wasn't as hectic as it is nowadays. Oh, the 90s, how I miss them. Mickey Beam's mix is tight, very tight. He squeezed all these tracks in this mix, and they all work well together. They blend in nicely with each other, and the vibe might change throughout the mix, but it's still extremely pleasant to hear. When Circa '91's song kicks in, that's when you know shit is about to hit the fan. I grew up listening to this kind of House music, and I really miss that sound from the early 90s. It is the track that stood out the most for me. Another splendid mix. Hope he never retires, and continues providing us with excellent mixes like his latest one. We need more oldskool mixes, we never grow tired of it. More of this, please! • DJ TERROR / EARLY 90'S OLDSKOOL ON TOXIC SICKNESS / DECEMBER / 2023

The weekend is about to happen, and we need something to get us through. You might be interested in my 2023 Playback list (which you can find under the Music Reviews - Blog section. Or you cannot be arsed to read about my most played songs on Soundcloud, and you want something new, fresh, and excited, Which, granted, is fair, as most of those on my playlist have had a review. So let's dive straight into a brand spanking new mix I have found, one that will take us back to the early 90s. The mix was made by DJ Terror, and you could have heard it on Toxic Sickness radio. If you haven't, don't worry: Soundcloud to the rescue. And the mix has already had some positive feedback. But it's only been online for 6 days, so give it time before it hits those that haven't heard it, and those in dire need of some oldskool bangers. DJ Terror has picked the finest anthems from the 90s, those that got everyone on the dancefloor. And growing up in the 90s, I know each and every one of them, and adore them a lot! They have been timeless classics, and are still enjoyed a lot by the older generation, and the youngsters are now discovering the early sound too, which is great. The tracklist isn't a mystery, as it's on the picture above. So yeah, here's the list.. CLS - Can You Feel It Human Resource - Dominator Joey Beltram - Energy Flash 4 Hero - Mr. Kirk's Nightmare Break Boys - My House Is Your House N-Joi - Techno Gangsters 808 State - Cubik N-Joi - Malfunction Wildchild Experience - Bring It On Down Kicksquad - Soundclash Moby - Go Cybersonik - Technarchy Josh Wink - Higher State Of Consciousness Outlander - Vamp Joey Beltram - My Sound Razor Boy & Mirror Man - Cutter Mix SL2 - DJs Take Control This is a very good looking tracklist, and it does indeed contain the big hits from the 90s DJ Terror's selection is really great, and it's a nice trip down memory lane. These were big hits , ones you would hear literally everywhere. And they have appeared on many compilations. Even to this day are they on many compilations. And I'm a sucker, and I would still buy them. I've got no complaints about this mix. It's got the big hits, and I wasn't sure I wanted to hear them. But then I pressed play, and I am sitting here, all elated. Happy as a bunny. And I'm experiencing so many flashbacks to the early 90s, it's insane. How to pick a favourite from this list? They are all classics, anthems and a half. They will remain classics for the rest of our lives, and they are our 'safe' records. We can listen to these records whenever, wherever, and they make us feel young again. And feel good. Great mix. Thanks DJ Terror. I can enjoy the upcoming weekend! Already being destroyed by Christmas music everywhere, this is a nice and warm welcome throughout these cold months! Bring back the 90s! • Soundcloud - Your 2023 Playback

The year is slowly coming to an end, and we are all experiencing 2023 for the last few times. It will be a thing of the past, in roughly 16 days. We will sing 'Auld Lang Syne' and see 2024 for the first time. It has been a great year, to be fair, and I've spent a lot of time on Soundcloud. Maybe too much time? Every day I would use the app, as a day without music is a day I have not lived. I'm such a sucker for music, and it's the easiest app to use on my phone, and in the car. But what have I listened to the most in 2023? Well, Soundcloud has got my back! I've reviewed their 'Playback' bits before, back in 2020 (click here), but just took it for granted that each year Soundcloud would generate a playlist for each user, which contains all the tracks they've played the most throughout the year. And my list might not look interesting, but it is. If you are looking for a diverse list, don't look any further. From Dutch Pop music to Breakbeat Hardcore, from Piepcore to Techno, from House to Hip Hop. All is in here. And some aren't even new tracks. Some are extremely 'old', but I've only discovered them in 2023 on Soundcloud, or I kept on listening to them, and they might have appeared on previous year-list. Who knows. Who knows how their algorithm works, but at least it's a nice throwback to all the mixes/sets I've listened to the most. That doesn't mean the tracks/mixes/sets are the best, but it just shows the amount of times I've listened to them. Would have been cooler to show the actual plays, and how man times it has contributed to the total plays of a song/mix/etc. Some songs I've listened to so often, I must be responsible for a thousand plays or more. But what was played/listened to the most by yours truly, in 2023? But that's just based on my own opinion. But now the main question, would you listen to my Playback list? Would this be of any interest to you all? It is diverse, you've got to give me credit for that. I am always happy to see a list like this one. It reminds me of all the goodies I've heard throughout the year. Some I still listen to, to this day. I go through phases myself, whereby I listen to a song for a month, leave it for a bit, and then go back to it, for yet another month. And some songs are just on repeat all day, for months in a row. These were my 'safe haven' records. They make me feel comfortable. And some are just too damn good, like the Hardcore Breakz mix series. I cannot pick a favourite, as these 50 have been my favourite throughout the year. Can you pick one? Have you got a Playback playlist on Soundcloud, and what is in yours? Interesting to find out. Love all these records. And as a reviewer, it shows how unbiased I am. As long as it sounds great, I'm game. And these were my game throughout the year. Hope 2023 was a great year for you too, and let's pray that 2024 will be better. Or equally as good as 2023. But not worst, we don't need that. My Soundcloud player won't work all of a sudden, so click here for the Playback playlist instead!

  • A Tribute To Rotterdam Terror Corps [1] (2023)

The last mix I'll review this week, and it's one I've been listening to a lot over the last few days. Why, you might ask? Well, good question. It's a mix made by Silvio Aquila, who has made plenty of mixes before, and some have found their way to this website (*humble*), but one of his latest mixes is a tribute mix to one of the greatest groups in the Hardcore scene, Rotterdam Terror Corps, who are still going strong, to this day! They turned out to not be a one-hit wonder, but a hit machine! And if you have seen them perform, there's plenty to 'see' on the stage, if you catch my drift. I have been a fan for many years/decades, and their music still appeals to me. But when I do want to hear something made by RTC, I'd always go back to the 90s or noughties, because those are the two biggest decades (for me). And Silvio Aquila's mix contains a few of RTCs biggest hits from those two decades. They were literally everywhere, and their famous logo could be seen anywhere in the Netherlands, and beyond. It was a powerful symbol, and you represented something special. Even I had a long sleeve shirt with their logo on it. And I think it was part of a Christmas pack, and I think it came in a box made out of tin with the logo on top of that too. They knew how to present the music/label/brand, and they did it very well. But it's all about the music, and they've been releasing hit after hit. And in this mix, you can find 25 of them. But if 25 isn't enough for you, Silvio has made a follow up mix, that contains more records you might like, but for now, we will focus on the first mix. Maybe I'll do a second review too? Who knows... Rotterdam Terror Corps - We Would Die For Hardcore Rotterdam Terror Corps - Sick & Twisted Rotterdam Terror Corps - Industrial Life Rotterdam Terror Corps vs The Masochist - Torture Rotterdam Terror Corps - The Music Is Too Much Rotterdam Terror Corps - Constrictor Rotterdam Terror Corps - The Haunted Rotterdam Terror Corps - Paranoid Rotterdam Terror Corps - The Final Part Of Raveworld Rotterdam Terror Corps - Me Inside Your Head Rotterdam Terror Corps - Schizophrenic Rotterdam Terror Corps vs Paul Elstak - The Battle Has Begun Rotterdam Terror Corps - Beyond Our Minds Rotterdam Terror Corps - Blow Your Mind Rotterdam Terror Corps - Terror Style Rotterdam Terror Corps - The Horror Rotterdam Terror Corps - We Declare War Rotterdam Terror Corps - Christmas Future Rotterdam Terror Corps - God Is A Gabber Rotterdam Terror Corps - There's Only One Terror DJ Paul & The Teenage Warning - If Da Kids Are United (Rotterdam Terror Corps REMIX) Rotterdam Terror Corps vs Headbanger - Bangin' Your Fist Rotterdam Terror Corps - Poisoning Your Mind Rotterdam Terror Corps - Are You Ready To Die? Rotterdam Terror Corps vs Paul Elstak - Fear Wow, it's got some big hits in here. And some quirky ones too. But RTC couldn't care less: as long as the dancefloor and the hall/tent they were playing in, was trembling enough to give the ravers a taste of their music and their capabilities. They did bring the heat to wherever they went. But it wasn't for everyone. You might even dislike RTC. Which is cool too. But you have to acknowledge the fact that they've been around for 30 years, and they are still kicking about. The songs are hard, and they are ferociously present. You know when a RTC song comes on, because shit is about to go down. And sometimes they brought some humour into their songs too, which I always found funny. But the overall gist of the group is to bring their views on Hardcore to wherever the party is. The songs selected are solid, and there's a few I like the most. 'Sick & Twisted', 'Bangin' Your Fist' and 'Paranoid' have always been my favourite RTC records. They are slightly darker and heavier, but that's what you need to hear, right? No fucking about, just pure Hardcore coming at you at lightspeed! A solid mix, and one that will go on repeat this weekend. And maybe even the second instalment? Who knows? • Mind Control - Italian Hardstyle Classics (2023)

Let's start the upcoming weekend with some Italian Hardstyle from the early days, yes? Why not? Let's have a blast, and enjoy the early sounds as much as we all did, back in the day. And who has made this mix? Well, a DJ called Mind Control, who combined 15 amazing Italian Hardstyle anthems from back in the day, into one smooth hour long mix. Be prepared to hear the classics, and be amazed on a) how old they are, and b) how fresh they still sound, and c) why the sound has left us, as the early Hardstyle years were ace. I think the last mix review I'd done for a mix which was uploaded to the Noise Pollution channel, I made a mistake. But hopefully I've said the right things now, yes? The DJ behind this mix is Mind Control, who has been DJing for 14 years, got his own weekly show, and plays Hardstyle, Hard Trance, Hardcore Techno, and Frenchcore. And the mix was uploaded onto Noise Pollutions Soundcloud channel, which has Mind Control as one of its resident DJs. Their Soundcloud channel is packed to the max with music. And if you want to hear more, I suggest you to have a browse, as they've got hours of fun. But for now, let's focus on one of their latest uploads. It's got the music I grew up listening to, so that's a bonus for me. When I made the 'change' from Hardcore to another style, it became Hardstyle, and the Italian Hardstyle sound was the right sound, at the right time (for me). I fell in love, and have to agree that the Italians exceed in the harder styles. There are only fifteen records in here, and even though it's not got my favourite Italian Hardstyle anthems in here, it is still highly enjoyable, and recommendable. And now you are curious to know which records are in here, right? Overdrive - Listen To The Fat Bass The KGB's - Superdisco (Technoboy Remix) Tatanka Project - Tripods Attack (Original Mix) Cally & Juice - Do It Like That (Trance Generators Remix) Tuneboy - Sexbusters (Technoboy Remix) The KGB's - Techno Gym (Hardstyle Guru Remix) Analogic Disturbance - Hunting 1 Tatarola - Who Is Calling? Giada - Diamond (TNT Remix) Stylez meets Tonteufel - Abwherton Speedwave - Zhangar Builder - Bad Manner (Hardstyle Masterz Mix) DJ Gius - Things To Do (Dr. Cox Remix) Dark Oscillators - Nero Technoboy - Into Deep (Original Mix) This is a glorious mix. and I have enjoyed it a lot. To be honest, at the moment, me and the missus are getting ready to travel for a weekend to the Netherlands, and she's got Christmas music on downstairs, and I've got this mix on repeat upstairs. And the party is definitely upstairs, not downstairs. Go away with your boring Christmas songs, give me some Hardstyle anthems!!! The tracks are fire. Some are a tad underrated, which they shouldn't be. But they are truly fire. They bring the heat, and Mind Control has done a nice thing, by getting these 15 records all in one mix. It has certainly enlightened my day. But one track stands out from being annoying and nostalgic at the same time... 'Who Is Calling?'. Only those old enough remember those beeps, when your phone was ringing and you were near speakers. You could hear that noise. It was annoying, the song is slightly annoying, but on the other hand it is catchy as fuck, and remains in my head for the rest of the day. I'll probably quote this song at a later stage today, probably on the way back to NL. It's a solid mix, and I really enjoyed it. Trip down memory lane. And the funny thing is, I still remember like it was yesterday. And I would never think the sound would disappear, and become something we talk about it like it happened many decades ago... why does time move so damn fast? • Zany & Vince - Millennium Hardcore Mix #TWNTYFV (2023)

I've been living in the UK for quite some time now, and I loose touch on all the things happening in the Netherlands. I've been missing out on a lot of events, and one of those events which is about to happen, is Memorylane's event, which takes place on the 16th of December, at the Klokgebouw, in Eindhoven. On that day, the focus will be on a pioneer called DJ Zany, who's been in the Hardstyle game for 25 years, but he's been active for longer. The focus is on this legend, as he's reached a milestone, and to celebrate this, he has invited a few other DJs to join him at this event, and one of those, is DJ Vince, who's another legend in the Hardcore scene. DJ Vince has been a part of the Hardcore scene since the early years, and he's been successful on his own, or as part of the Shadowlands Terrorist, who had the honour to have Zany join at a later stage. Hence why these two DJs/producers have got a connection together. And to promote this event, they made this Millennium Hardcore mix I've never had the pleasure to see either of these DJs perform, but I've heard their songs a million times, at least. But this promo mix isn't all about Zany, Vince, or the Shadowlands Terrorists. This is about bringing the madness to Eindhoven in 13 days time. And the heat can only be brought when it's Millennium Hardcore, as it's the best decade ever, right? With this mix they prove why they've been at the top for a while, and why you should consider getting tickets for this event. The full line-up will be revealed soon, so keep your eyes peeled. Promo - Life From The Other Side Promo - King Of Pain Bodylotion - How Much Can You Take (Catscan Remix) Promo - Among The Best Korsakoff - Still Wasted Tommyknocker vs Sunbeam - Twisted World (The Viper Mashup Mix) Re-Style - Get It Crackin (2011 Edit) Dione - Pain Till I Die Endymion - Payback (Tommyknocker's Yes I Am Remix) Art Of Fighters - Earthquake Promo - Phreak Ya Speaka Angerfist & Crucifier - Broken Chain Promo - Dancefloor Hardcore (T-Junction Remix) Amnesys - Elevation DJ Jappo & Lancinhouse - Exlxaxl (Neophyte & Evil Activities Remix) Evil Activities & The Viper - Raw To The Floor DJ Neophyte vs Tha Playah - Still Nr. 1 Endymion - Pussy Motherfuckerz Tha Playah - Fuck The Titties (The Viper & Tommyknocker Remix) Neophyte & The Viper - 98 To Your Mind The Viper - Control The Refix Tha Playah - Hit Em (Evil Activities vs The Viper Remix) Shadowlands Terrorists - Shadowlands Anthem (Zany & Vince's Zoveelste Remix) Yes, these are the big hits from back in the day, and they will do well on any dancefloor. They are crowd pleasers, and timeless classics. The hour goes by before you know it, and you will immediately press play again, as you want to hear these gems again. Initially at first, I thought it was a DJ Promo promo mix, as his tunes are played a lot, but it's not just DJ Promo tracks in this mix, even though he redefined the Millennium Hardcore sound. Both Vince and Zany went all out, and played the big hits. The records that made thousands of ravers dance through the noughties, and to this day there's heaps of ravers going nuts on these songs. They played the finest records, but ended with a memorable anthem, one that was heard everywhere throughout the 90s. Not heard this version before, and even though it's a big tune, the original remains the best of the best, without a shadow of a doubt. There's too many great anthems to pick from, but I'll pick 'Raw To The Floor'. Still a massive classic dancefloor smasher, and a true eardrum bashing anthem. A solid mix by two legends from the scene. If you like this mix, why not visit Zany and Vince (and many others too) at Memorylane, on the 16th of December? • [2023-10-14 DJ Smurf @ Terrordrang, Holland

On the 14th of October of this year, you might have caught DJ Smurf in the Netherlands. At an event called Noisekick's 'Terrordrang', DJ Smurf took the Deng with him, and destroyed the stage. He wasn't the only one playing, that would be a tad silly. But here's a few names you might recognise: Noisekick, Tripped, Paranoizer, Doctor Terror, Akira, The Destroyer, and many more. The set we are focussing on, is obviously DJ Smurf's set, which is truly one amazing mix you need to listen to, as it will put a smile on your face, and if you are going out, into the cold, it might warm you up a bit. DJ Smurf is a weird character, but one needed. One that can put a smile on your face, and at the same time, blast insanely fast paced records at you. For this Terrordrang event, he dug deep into his record collection, and played the finest Deng records. Most are released on GGM or Deng record labels. And even though the set is only 45 minutes long, he brings the fire, and optimises smile for miles. I only discovered this set the other week, but I've played it over and over, on a daily basis. There's something quirky and unique about this set, and I cannot describe to you what it is. Maybe it's because I'm not fully emerged into the GGM/Deng world, but I could not care less. This set is as energetic as you want it to be, unless you don't like Terror music, then you will be slightly disappointed. It's quirky, but catchy as fuck. If you were at the event, how was it for you? How was the Smurf experience for you all? Did he demolish your ear drums, and was it a pleasant experience? DJ Smurf - Exposure King (2020 Re-Strip) DJ Gizmo - The End Of The Beginning (Smurf & DJ Narotic Remix) Optizm - Get The F Out! Dave Dope - Terrordrome DJ Smurf - Force Of Terror (2023 Remix) Xmurf - SayTan DJ Smurf - Cry Baby (Ode To Colenel Stench) LFO Demon - The Skinhead Broke My Telephone (DJ Smurf Remix) Biodome - You Know How We Roll The Inquisitor - Ihr Werdet Im Feuer Vergehen DJ Smurf - Start A Fight DJ Smurf - You Are A Cunt (2022 Version) DJ Smurf - Smells Like Denginem Will you have a look at the tracklist? It is as quirky as you imagine it to be. Smurf knows how to come up with insane names for his songs, but the weirdest one has to go to LFO Demon's title 'The Skinhead Broke My Telephone'. Like, WTF? That's a weird title, but one that is catchy enough. He certainly knows how to put together a set that will get the audience scratching their heads, thinking 'what the hell is this?', and then still dance their feet off. I would do that, and laugh at the same time. Who would have thought that Nirvana and Eminem and a bit of Deng would work? Or a crying baby being so overpowering? Or even Pink, being the inspiration for Smurf's song 'Start A Fight'? There are so many great records, but the one that captured my attention the most, has to be 'Force Of Terror 2023' by Smurf himself. This has got the 90s vibe all around it. Love that record, and it's energetic enough to get you going ape. Go absolutely nuts, and don't give a shit. A quirky set, and I really loved it. It's not your standard set, but nothing is standard about DJ Smurf. It is Deng or nothing else. And he brought the Deng to Noisekick's event. 45 minutes of Smurf, who wouldn't like to hear that? • Ultimate Happy Hardcore 4 (Next Generation Records Megamix 2) (2011)

Another review for you all today. This time it's done by Dexx, who's latest uploaded mix wasn't made recently, but 12 years ago, back in 2011. He's made a few mixes, but the one today focussed on the label Next Generation Records, a label you might be familiar with, if you are into UK Hardcore. Starting back in 1996, Brisk and Ham took the opportunity to release songs on their newly formed label, which had a spin-off label in 1997 called Blatant Beats, and 2 years after that, Stimulant Records was created, focussed on the Hard Dance side of life (Hard Trance, Hard House, Tech Dance). It's been a tad quiet in my honest opinion, but at least we've got mixes like this one, to fall back to. Dexx has picked 12 records, which are fan favourites. They were the big hits which you could not avoid, when they were released. They appeared on so many compilations, and are still played to this day. And hell, the sound is missed a lot. They don't make tunes like these anymore. This is so noughties. This is a sound so well loved and appreciated, you know it will have people talk about it on social media, complaining why things change. And it is unfortunate, but that's just life. I fell in love with the music released on this label during the early noughties, and still have most albums from this label. I would never chuck them in the bin, as they were signed by one of the head honchos of the label, DJ Brisk. But the music has always been my favourite, and it has to be one of my most favourite UK Hardcore labels out there. And I'm not the only one who thinks that way. It's been a bit quiet though, but if you are a Brisk fan, he is still doing his shows online. So if you are into streaming, you can check him out. But the label seems a bit dead? Instead of being sad, let's be happy, and relive the glory years! Brisk & Ham - Taste The Rainbow Eclipse feat Lisa Marie - Hearts Desire Euphoria - Holding Out Adam Harris - My Star Brisk & Ham feat Lisa Marie - Your Angel Eclipse - 24-7 (Breeze & Styles Remix) Brisk & Ham - Fire & Flames Brisk & Ham - Angel Eyes (Re-Con Remix) Gammer & Cat Knight - A New Feeling Brisk & Ham feat MC Whizzkid - Crazy Love Brisk & Vagabond - Eyeopener 2007 Brisk & Vagabond - Eurolove A short tracklist, but a very powerful one. The label had more releases, but why not check out Dexx's Soundcloud channel, to see if he's made another Next Generation Records mix? If you aren't bothered to look, the answer is yes. And there's even a Blatant Beats one out there, so check it out, if you can be arsed. The mix starts with a big anthem. One that I truly adore. As it's got some dope ass vocals in it. Well, not really vocals. Isn't it Samuel L. Jackson screaming? I keep forgetting which film it was from, but I know DJ Promo used it on one of his records too. A big record to open your mix with, and the rest is history. It is literally history, as they are all cemented in our brains. Hit after hit. Dexx keeps us entertained, and the euphoria level hits us basically from the first second to the last. They don't make them like they used to. These are classics that go down well at any rave. Play them, and the crowds will loose their minds. Yes, 'Taste The Rainbow' is my favourite, so what? The big question here is, what is yours? Have you got a favourite Next Generation Records song, and is it in this mix? Curious to find out. It's a big mix, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll be checking out the other mixes Dexx has done, as you should do too! • DJ A.K. - New Breakbeat Hardcore Mix 15.09.23

I am pleased. And that's not a normal way to start a review, but why not? A few weeks ago I found yet another mix by DJ A.K., and as we all know, this is one of the most underrated channels on Soundcloud. He's been releasing mixes on the regular, and his latest mix is certainly one you need to check out. But truth be told, I keep stating that in each review I do, so maybe it's becoming obnoxious? I am clearly stating the obvious, so instead of me ranting on, let's focus on the mix I found, and have absorbed like a sponge! I always save mixes to listen to later, as there's simply not enough time to listen to all the mixes I want to. And if you could look at my 'saved' list, you will see a lot of A.K.'s mixes in there. Some I completely forget to listen to, for which I profusely apologise. But those that I do listen to, they normally get a review, as they are too damn good. But the mix you are about to listen to, might be the best one I've encountered on his Soundcloud channel. Boy, that's a bold statement, right? For his latest mix he grabbed a handful of new(ish) Breakbeat Hardcore and Jungle anthems, and mixed them together into a 76 minute long mix. And recently I've been fully into Breakbeat, be it the 90s, 00s, 10s, or even the newer sounding Breakbeat. I've emerged myself, and I seem to love it more than anything else I would normally listen to. Breakbeat does something to me, more than any other style or genre. And A.K.'s mix just landed on my timeline, at the right time. And now I cannot stop listening to it. It's got some serious dancefloor smashers in here... Renegade Bob Ross - Con-Fuse-Them Pete Cannon & Mixtress - Blinded By The Lights 23 Renegade Bob Ross - Tell The Maid, They Came 2 Invade Acen - Champion Alex Jungle - Are We Better (Piano No. 7) Renegade Bob Ross - Bushed DJ Jimmy J - Never Look Back Poosie & Cru-L-T - Hear Me, Hear Me (Nookie Remix) Alex Jungle - Sunshine As A Service NP Source - Homegrown Acen - Return To 2092 (InnerCore Remix) DJ Jimmy J - Back To The Oldschool Alex Jungle - Rough Ride (Piano No. 3) DJ Jimmy J - Lets Go Alex Jungle - Wildstyle (Piano No. 11) Acen - Window In The Sky (Jimmy J & Cru-L-T Remix) No Name - Serotonin DJ Jimmy J - Don't You Feel Me X-Rave - Ease The Pressure DJ Jimmy J - Bring It Back Luna-C & Saiyan - No Errors (DJ Beeno Remix) Nicky Allen - NAD 62 N-Trance - Set You Free (POLO LILLI Bootleg) The mix has gone some serious smashers in it, but there's one track that stands out that much, I had to comment on A.K.'s mix on Soundcloud, which I normally never do (not just A.K.). The track blew my mind away, and I sat there, in silence, because I just felt like I was hit by a train at full speed. Or a truck. Or a car. Whatever hit me, it came at me at full speed, and I wasn't ready for it. OK, let's go straight into that track. It's made by someone with the weirdest but coolest name at the same time. Renegade Bob Ross? Like WTF? It's quirky and innovative, but weird. And the track I'm talking about, has also got a weird name. 'Tell The Maid, They Came 2 Invade'. When I heard that track for the first time, I rewound that track over and over, as it's beautiful. Whoever it is behind the track, you've made a timeless classic, a masterpiece! I am fully in awe of this record, and if this doesn't appear on people's TOP 10 Breakbeat anthems, something is wrong with the world. It was closely followed by 'Never Look Back' by Jimmy J. Also another top notch record, with amazing vocals. The vocals make it work even more. But it couldn't beat Renegade Bob Ross (seriously, what a fucking name!). I've said it before in many reviews, but A.K. delivered yet another epic mix. But this time it has to be named as his finest mix ever. The only negative thing I'd like to mention, is the last track. The original has been played too many times, it's overkill for me now. But the others are just smashing. And that record by Renegade Bob Ross... come on, what can top that? Check out A.K.'s channel. You will not be disappointed. Trust me! DJ: A.K. • Neophyte Tribute part 2 (2000-2009) (2023)

Only a few days ago did I review Neophyte's 'Heroes Of Hardcore' mix for the upcoming Thunderdome, and yet another Neophyte mix was released. This time it wasn't by Neophyte himself, but by the Finnishing Dutch. His previous tribute mix focussed on Neophyte's early years, from 1993 to 1999, but now we have entered the Millennium years, and the focus lies within 2000 to 2009. The whole decade that made Neophyte dominate the scene even more. 35 tracks in 130 minutes. And the legend himself had already commented on it, how cool is that? Neophyte was, and still is, a legend, Neophyte, as a brand, have been active since the early 90s, and even to this day, are they keeping the brand alive. Hell, they even released a compilation recently, dedicated to Neophyte being 30 years in the scene, and it sold well. There's a good reason for it: Neophyte have been at the top since they emerged out of nowhere. But the main question here is, which Neophyte do I prefer? The 90s or 00s? Well, that's a tricky question, as I've been an avid fan since the early days, and when Hardcore 'died' in 1999, they still continued making music, and their approach to Hardcore from 2000 onward, has been received well. The amount of monster anthems they have released over the years is seriously impressive. I would prefer the Millennium years, and the reason for it, you can find it in the tracklist below. The amount of songs they made, they resonated me with for many years, even up to this day. They made so many awesome and timeless classics, be it under their normal name, or other aliases like Hard Creation, DJ Neophyte, or Masters Of Ceremony. Or even Bodylotion! Neophyte have been a well respected artist/group, and I'm glad I've seen them a few times over the years. Raving Nightmare, Mysteryland, and even some local events at the Peppermill or somewhere in Landgraaf/Kerkade. Happy to have seen them, but I would like to see them again. I have to. Their music is so freaking awesome! The Finnishing Dutch's tracklist is a beauty, have a look at this: Masters Of Ceremony - Soul Seller Neophyte - Balzz In Yer Mouth Bodylotion - Wanna Freak You Zany meets The Beholder - Who Wants This Evil Activities & Neophyte - Everlast DJ Neophyte & The Viper - Reversed Mode Hard Creation - Let's Get 'Em All Masters Of Ceremony - Rocking With The Best Masters Of Ceremony - Bottoms Up Neophyte & Activities - Invasion Tha Playah - Weird Clit (Neophyte & Evil Activities Remix) Neophyte - The Hardest Remake The Masochist vs Neophyte - Hell No! DJ Neophyte & Scott Brown - Digital Distortion Works Neophyte vs The Stunned Guys - Nation Of Domination DJ Neophyte vs Scott Brown - Fuzzy Muff T-Junction & Osiris feat MC Syco - What's Up With Life (Masters Of Ceremony Remix) DJ Neophyte vs DJ Panic - Mass Confusion Evil Activites feat DJ Neophyte - To You Who Doubt Me Neophyte vs The Stunned Guys - There Is No Other DJ Jappo & Lancinhouse - Exlxaxl (Neophyte & Evil Activities Remix) Masters Of Ceremony - Under Control Masters Of Ceremony - Skullfuck Masters Of Ceremony - Know Your Enemy DJ Neophyte & Evil Activities - Alles Kapot (10 Jaar Later Lekkur Dan..) Masters Of Ceremony - A Way Of Life Hard Creation - We Won't Have It DJ Neophyte vs Tha Playah - Still Nr. 1 DJ Neophyte vs Tha Playah feat MC Alee - The Ultimate Project DJ Neophyte vs Evil Activities - One Of These Days The Masochist - Antimix By Neophyte Neophyte vs The Stunned Guys - The Soul Collector Euromasters - Alles Naar De Klote (Subtiel Naar De Tyfus Geholpen Door Neophyte & Evil Activities) Neophyte & Drokz - Sloop Die Speakers! (Original Mix) Neophyte vs Lenny Dee - The Future Priests Of Now The Finnishing Dutchs mix contains the big hits! And they are well received records by Neophyte. They might have created the brand in the 90s, but to me they got big in the noughties. Those were the years when their songs went up a level, and they established themselves as the biggest players in the scene. Just look at the amount of songs in this mix, and how many of them you do know, and truly love. It's close to the number 35, isn't it? The songs by Neophyte are so extremely catchy. They resonated extremely well on the dancefloors all over the world, and got hands in the air, as high as they could go. You could not go to a rave and NOT hear a Neophyte record. It was music for the masses, and they all got absorbed extremely well. I do like the selection of tracks. There is so many greatness in this mix, it's unbelievable. This mix certainly takes me back to the noughties, when I purchased the most songs in my lifetimes. And Neophyte was on my list. I went to my local record store in Heerlen, and purchased so many albums, I could have singlehandedly saved the Hardcore scene! And yes, I've purchased a lot of Neophyte songs and albums. And I'm happy that I did, as they meant a lot to me during my youth, and they will still continue to remain a part of my life, for many years to come1 Too many great anthems to choose from, but if I had to, it would be 'We Won't Have It'. Big anthem. If this is all too 'new' for you, click here for the first mix, which was dedicated to the years 1993 to 1999. • Fresh Press Vol. 1 (Mixed By Burgaboy) (2023)

I've been quiet throughout the week, but that's because I've started a new job, so I had no time to review. Well, I did, if I'm being honest, but after a hard day of work, you just want to remain comfortable on the sofa, and then go to bed. I've not found my pattern yet, but once I do, you'll see more reviews. But for now, it's maybe one or two a week. But what a mix we have got for you right now. It wasn't even the one I found, which I'll explain later. But it's a Bassline, 4X4 mix made by the legendary DJ Burgaboy! I have been a Bassline fan for many years, and Burgaboy has always been one of my favourite producers from the scene. Hell, I even purchased his own album! At one time I even had his Birthday Bash CDs, but I lost them somewhere. Burgaboy's music has always been my cup of tea, very interesting and very danceable music. And very catchy, to say the least. He's been a favourite, and for this Soundcloud channel called Viibers, he made two mixes so far. And it's because of me finding the second mix that I stumbled upon the first mix. I have been an avid listener of everything Burgaboy related, and these two mixtapes are a warm welcome. Especially when it's cold and miserable outside. We need something to warm us up, and Bassline music certainly has the capability to do just that. The bounce factor is tremendously addictive, and it keeps you moving vigorously. According to the mix info section, Burgaboy brought the finest and freshest Bassline tunes, and that is certainly an understatement. He brought the fire. This mix is lit! Burgaboy vs Beyoncé - Drunk In Love TRC - Runaway Jaikea - Run That Keg One - I Keep Falling AdotR - High Up TS7 feat Bianca Gerald - Take This Time Notion - Found Love Burgaboy with Lauren Mason - PS (2023) TRC - Goulies DJQ - I Couldn't See Kyle George - Nostalgia Sammy Virji - Daga Da TS7 feat Trilla - Going In Burgaboy - We Run Tingz Subzero - Quarantine Burgaboy with Donaeo - Ravin V.I.P. DJ Q - Heavy Like Lead NLMT - Magic Notion - Dy-Na-Mi-Tee JG - Shake Dub Vamos - Be Afraid Burgaboy with Slick Don - Poppin Off TRC - Toybox Subzero feat Sacha - Powerless JG - Afterparty Burgaboy vs Destiny's Child - What's My Name? Zero - My Boo Keg Fools Venz - Wanna Loose TRC feat Kay Ryder - Down For You Burgaboy - No Means No Sammy Virji feat Lucy Virji - Alright These are a nice bunch of records. A bit of the 'old' with a bit of the new. This takes me right back to the golden years of Bassline, and they were fire! The tunes that were released, they were amazing, and still to this day do I like to go back in time, and listen to these songs again. Especially Burgaboy's songs. But he wasn't the only one in the scene destroying speakers. A few of the biggest names are also in this mix, like TS7, Subzero, DJ Q, AdotR, TRC, and the list goes on. This has only been online for 3 months, and already gained 27k+ plays on Soundcloud, which is insane, but it's worth it. People seem to love Burgaboy and miss the Bassline sound a lot, hence why they jump onto it that quickly. We need to bring back the good ol' days. Bring Back Bassline! It makes me smile, hearing mixes like this one. Again, it wasn't the first mix I found, but it's certainly one that I had to listen to, and I'm glad that I do so. Again, #BBB. Bring Back Bassline. It is such an awesome and much respected style, and one that should get more recognition of the power it has over the dancefloor massive. There are 31 epic records, but which one is the best? That's tricky, but I would say 'We Run Tingz' and 'Ravin V.I.P.'. both made by Burgaboy. A solid mix, and it's wobbly enough for you all to give this one a go. And why not check out the second instalment of this mix series? Trust TCD, I do know what I'm talking about. And this mix series is seriously the hottest thing out there right now. And it's all because it's a Burgaboy mix. We need more Burgaboy boy! • Mark EG Presents 90's Techno Rave Volume II (2023)

A Mark EG set! How's that for something new and refreshing, eh? You don't see them very often on Soundcloud. The last one uploaded was a year ago, and it was the first in this mix series. He doesn't upload stuff that often, but when he does, you have to jump on it immediately, as it could be a very interesting and intoxicating mix. And today's mix is certainly one for those that appreciate the early 90s Techno sound. This could not be everyone's cup of tea, but I hope you are quite open minded, and let the music be absorbed by your ears, and hopefully your body starts to move, like a monkey on acid! And for this mix, Mark EG has picked the finest tunes in his collection. I did listen to the previous mix, and was pleasantly surprised by the songs he had selected, but it didn't have a tracklist. His latest one does have one, hence why I'm talking about it. But looking at the listen-counter on Soundcloud, it is already well played in the last 5 days since it was uploaded, and there have been many positive comments on this mix. And truth be told, I have to consider myself one of those listeners who really appreciate this mix. I grew up in the 80s, and when these tunes were released, I was still too young, and didn't fully understand the importance of these songs, but I still danced to them, in my little bedroom. It would drive my parents mad, to such an extend that my dad would come in and cut the wires of the speakers. He did warn me, but I played my music out loud. I could not enjoy this music on a lower volume: max is the only volume! From that moment on, I heavily invested in headphones, and have lived with them throughout the 90s, and early 00s. I truly adored every song in Mark's mix, as they were everywhere in the 90s. And his mix starts off very strong, with undoubtfully one of the best Acid House anthems of all time. But it's not just that one record that will hit the spot.... there's 19 in total. Choose your favourite! Ecstasy Club - Jesus Loves The Acid Frank De Wulf - Reforced Cybersonik - Technarchy Frank De Wolf - Moral Sound Abuse Interaktive - Who Is Elvis DJPC - Insomniak Cold Sensation - Control The Universe Joey Beltram & Program 2 - The Omen F.U.S.E. - Substance Abuse X-101 - Sonic Destroyer Setup System - Fairy Dust Outlander - Vamp A Homeboy, Hippie And A Funky Dredd - Total Confusion DLM - I.S.N.I.X. T99 - Anasthesia Lords Of Acid - Let's Get High Holy Noise - Get Down Everybody Joey Beltram - My Sound Speedy J - De Orbit (Played at 45rpm) There are so many epic anthems in here, I'm just chilling and enjoying the mix Mark has made. This generally takes me back to the 90s. These are timeless classics. Maybe sometimes slightly underrated, but they are oh so worth it. The tracks selected are all solid as a rock, and I understand why it's already had around 3.5k + plays in 5 days. It's genuinely an amazing mix, and people love the music. There's a lot of well known tracks in here, ones that you hear every so often. But some are a bit obscure, and slightly forgotten. Thanks to mixes like this one, they are kept alive. We need to reminisce on a daily basis, we need to remind ourselves where it all started, and the 90s were hugely influential for the present day Dance music. The 80s were too, but the 90s is what made Dance music a world wide phenomena, by tracks like the ones you find in this mix. It is unbelievable that a track can take you back in time, and you know exactly where you were at the time, when you first heard it. DJPC's track 'Insomniak' is that track for me. I remember where I was. Just a wee little lad, listening to it, and it blew my mind away. I knew it was something special, this track. And it has stood the test of time beautifully. Mark EG has done a blinding job, and his mix is one that you really need to check out. It's also a free download, so why not jump on it, go back in time, and appreciate what these songs have achieved over the years. They are as relentless as they were, the day they were released, and have remained dancefloor anthems, and will remain anthems for many years to come. I could have picked any of the 19 records as my favourite though. They are all big anthems. Hopefully we don't need to wait another year for the third instalment! We need more mixes like this one and the previous instalment. • Thunderdome 2023 | Heroes of Hardcore mix by Neophyte

Thunderdome; a legendary event that you should at least visit once in your lifetime. Unless you aren't into Hardcore music. In those cases, why even read about the event, eh? But for those that are into Hardcore music, it's less than a month away. Thunderdome 2023, held on the 9th of December in the Jaarbeurs, in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Tickets were sold out too damn quick, I didn't even have the chance to get any. But it's all for a good reason: Thunderdome is an institute, a place of worship for many, and they have been at the forefront since the early 90s. And I'm a fan since day one. Or maybe more day two. I was too young to understand, and it took me a few years to actually go to a Thunderdome event, but once the bug bit me, I was hooked for life. The albums made it worth while, but that phase is now gone completely. To me that element was at its peak during the 90s, and it has become a fan favourite: having all the amazing albums, with the coolest cover images, and of course the dopest songs. But it was all about the event, and it is still going strong, many decades after their first event. And the line up looks insane. I am not going to name all the artists, as there's not enough space on this page, but there's plenty. As cool as the current Hardcore sound is, I would still be in the oldschool area the most, as I grew up with these artists, and they have become part of my life. One of those artists is Neophyte, and he made a promo mix for the upcoming Thunderdome event. Neophyte has been at the forefront as long as Thunderdome has been alive, and they've been pushing Hardcore to the next level. I was a fan, but it never occurred to me how many timeless classics they made over the years. They are as important to the scene as Thunderdome is, and with this promo mix, Neophyte shows that it made a lot of the most memorable anthems of ALL TIME. And I'm not kidding though. The mix contains the early, the Millennium, and the new 'revamped' Neophyte. A nice mixture of everything, and it will leave you with a smile on your face. It will leave me saddened, as I didn't get a ticket, and would like to see Neophyte play. Neophyte - The Ultimate Sound Neophyte & The Stunned guys - Revolution 909 Neophyte & The Viper - 2 Much Junk Neophyte & Darrien Kelly - 909 Trauma Neophyte & The Stunned Guys - Get This Motherfucker Masters Of Ceremony - Bottoms Up Refix Neophyte & Tha Playah - Still Nr. One Neophyte & The Viper - Nothing To Loose Masters Of Ceremony - A Way To Refix Bodylotion - Catastrophy Bodylotion - Hurt You Bad Neophyte & Tha Playah - Quite Dedication Neophyte & Evil Activities - One Of Those Days Neophyte & Restrained - Brainstorm Neophyte, Tha Playah & The Viper - Master This! (Gridkiller Remix) Euromasters - Alles Naar De Klote (Neophyte & Evil Activities Remix) Bodylotion - Make You Dance (Amiga Live Act Edit) Neophyte & Drokz - Sloop Die Speakers (Thunderdome 2009 Anthem) Neophyte - Execute Repix - The Ultimate Neophyte Tribute Tha Playah - My Mistery Masters Of Ceremony - Hardcore To The Bone Bodylotion - Mellow Moenie Mauwe (Amiga Live Act Edit) This is a tracklist that makes me smile. So many great anthems that have certainly stood the test of time, and there's also a few new-ish records here, which do certainly fit in nicely. But it's the early and Millennium released records that do the most damage, for me. The mix is only 47 minutes long, but you get 23 amazing Neophyte records. So many epic songs, truly beyond belief what Neophyte has created, and how their music remains at the top, not for the last 30 years, but for many decades to come. And Neophyte had to play the biggest track under the alias Masters Of Ceremony, 'Hardcore To The Bone'. What a timeless classic, and it's a track that goes down well on dancefloors all over the globe. I've been to many parties where Neophyte records were played, and the last time I saw them, was at a Raving Nightmare. That's centuries ago. I need a Neophyte fix, and this mix fits in beautifully. It's got 23 epic records, and if you were lucky enough to get tickets, it will get you hyped up for the upcoming Thunderdome, which will certainly be a next level experience. I do love the mix. There are more to come, but this one stands out. I'm a huge fan of Neophyte, and love what they've done for the scene. Where would we be without Neophyte? Nowhere, that's right! The track that stood out the most, isn't 'Hardcore To The Bone', but 'Execute'. Why? I think that was the first record I heard, the one that introduced me into the wonderful world, created by Neophyte. Or it was 'Mickey'. Come on, like I would know it. But it was one of the first. • Outland - 90's and new early style bouncy techno mix (2023)

It feels like I'm only listening to music released in the 90s lately. 90s is what has been dominating my days, in their entirety. I haven't stopped listening to mixes like the one you are about to listen to, and I feel in a different state of mind. Calm, relaxed, and euphoric. But that's a good thing, and it have me enough energy to do some chores around the house. You need something with a decent kick, to give you the right amount of energy, right? And the 90s had that, especially when it comes to Hardcore, Gabber, Hardcore Techno, or whatever you call it. Today's mix is yet another one I stumbled upon, and I've not heard of the DJ before. I do know of the music and the artists in this mix (well, most of them), so instead of talking about bollocks, let's talk about the tracks used for this mix. The mix contains a mixture of 90s records, and brand spanking new records that capture the 90s sound beautifully. Born in the 80s, grew up listening to the 90s Hardcore anthems, and it has become a genre of music I truly adore, and I've said it a billion times: it's cool that it is kept alive by a few producers, who have created this newskool Hardcore, that truly reminisce the 90s sound. If I didn't know they were only released recently, I would have thought they were released in the 90s. That's how good they are! Surely I'm not the only one who loves that, and if you do, give this mix a go, and share it as much as you can. DJ Outland has done a nice set, worth your time. Neophyte - Voice Of Your Conscious The Scotchman - Happy Vibes Scott Brown & Omar Santana - Ain't It Wild Queensboro Crew - Criminal Minded Carjackers - Phat Beats Obsession & Technotrance - Detox Bionic Commanders - Cyndrum DJ Elmo - Troopers Paradise DJ Elmo - Hitting Hard DJ Elmo - Don't Stop Stormtrooper & Project XTC - Hoover Out The Keytown Connection - I Am The Danger Scott BPM - Acid Stomp Chosen Few vs DJ Pila - The Break (Wicked XXX Remix) Green Sequence - Do It Alright Januskopf - Chug Jug Chit Chat Omar Santana & M-Project - Wild Motherfuckers M-Project - Badboys Painbringer - Share Your Pain This is a nicely looking tracklist with a nice variety of records by a nice variety of artists. Well, there's a few by the same artist, but don't let that spoil anything. At least the songs by DJ Elmo are great. Didn't know he had a career outside of Sesame Street? Outland delivers a nice mix, and the songs are just what I needed to hear. Rough and tough, and at the right speed. It goes a tad harder toward the end, but that's how it should be. Slow introduction, and end on a high (and fast paced) note. There are a lot of awesome records, but the first one does the most damage for me. Neophyte always delivers, and they have done since the early 90s. That has to be my favourite song in this set. The set goes a bit weird, as if the recording levels were off, but the bass just goes to nearly non existent. Nothing major, but it spoils the mix slightly. Still, a very enjoyable mix with some hard hitters. Let this mix be the one to get you through the weekend! • DISC-U-TABLE - EFFE LEKKER NIKSTAPE VOL. 01 [24/07/2023]

Still unemployed (but not for long), so I am sitting at home, not having a thing to do. Well, there's one thing I can do: review. And nothing else to be fair. Gardening is boring, and it's too wet. Cleaning the car? Currently haven't got a car. Chores around the house? Nah, not that eager to do anything, but it's a must. But need something to listen to, when doing it. And all of a sudden I remembered a mixtape I found a few months ago, and it didn't have a tracklist, so I was curious, and was hoping it would maybe now have a tracklist. And guess what? Tracklist was added! Don't think I've reviewed a DISC-U-TABLE set before. Need to check if I have, and it turns out I have, but the set was taken offline. Which is a shame, as I really liked the set. But now we should focus on his latest mixtape, which is roughly 65 minutes long, and contains 66 records. So it's a megamix, right? No time to waste, let's dive straight into the mix. This mix contains several genres/styles, all blended in together. And you might be wondering why this mix was made. Well, it was the DJs birthday and as a treat to us all, he made this megamix. But you can expect a mix and mash of literally everything. I am a music lover, but most of these songs in this mix are complete unknowns to me, and I've not heard of the artist before either. A nice and unknown set today, but as long as the songs make me move, right? Do the tracks move me, or am I sitting in my seat, not moving? (Vocal Club Mix) I am not an expert, but I can appreciate good dance music, and DISC-U-TABLE's set contains a lot of catchy songs. And there's a lot of catchy songs in here. You would have difficulties sitting still, as your body wants to dance. For me, the only downside of this mix, is the length of each song. Some are building up to this climatic moment, to then go straight into the next song. No time to waste. But that's the only downside of this mix. Everything else is perfect. Some songs only need to be played 20-30 seconds, and that's enough for me, and some should have been played longer. But the DJ keeps you on your toes, and your body wants to dance. This could be a perfect mix for you to listen to, when you are working, as this can give you the right amount of energy to get through a hard day of work. I knew there were a few records in here, but that was before the tracklist was published. Wasn't ready for 66 records! He's crammed in as many as he could! Kudos to the DJ for doing that. Best record? 'On Top' by Flume feat T-Shirt, reworked by Tony Romera. Big dance record. I had to wait a few months, but it's worth it. A solid mix, one that will put a smile on your face. And if you like quick-mixing, this could be your thing! • 1994/95 Breakbeat/happy hardcore vol. 3 (2023)

Let's go back in time, roughly 30 years back in time. 1994 and 1995, do you remember those glorious years? Were you even alive when these two years happened? Would be interesting to find out if a) you were alive and b) if you actually remember the music from those years. I actually do, and it's not just because I keep on finding these mixes on Soundcloud. But it's certainly made easier to remember the tracks from the 90s. Today's mix was uploaded 2 days ago by ANDY PAV, and it's focussed on those 2 years, and the Breakbeat/Happy Hardcore anthems from those years. Not all of them, otherwise the mix would be days long. Only a handful, and when I say a handful, I mean 13 records. And whenever I see a mix by ANDY, I know it's going to be a good one. This time he's outdone himself, and filled it with 13 records I've not seen and probably heard before. There are songs in here which versions I've not encountered before, so it's going to be a good listening session. I've got to listen to something for the next 2 hours, so I thought I'd give this fresh new mix a go. And I wasn't disappointed. ANDY PAV (should it be all caps or not?) has given us another amazing mix, and they are certainly interesting to listen to. As mentioned before, I might know other versions of these songs, but not the ones used by ANDY. Expanding my horizon, right? Frantic & Impulse - Spiced Up Format - The Stomper The Dok - I Want You Edit V - Burning Love Druid & Vinylgroover - Summertime Vibe 94 (The North End Mix) DJ Brisk - Make It Rough DJ Seduction - Drop The Bass (Vibes & Wishdokta Mix) Nzo & Invincible - Funky Sensation (Billy Bunter & JDS Mix) DJ Hood - NRG Storm Syndicut - Hold Me In Your Arms (Jimmy J & Cru-L-T Mix) DJ Mystical - Striking Distance DJ Red Alert & Mike Slammer - In Effect (DJ Sy, Unknown & Temptation Mix) DJ Slam - Influence Well, maybe technically speaking I wasn't telling the truth. I know one song, which is 'Funky Sensation', mixed by Billy Bunter and JDS. That's the only song I know. Woop die doo! It has been an interesting hour, and the tunes are all solid. Just what I needed to hear. We started today with some early Terror, and now this mix. I am fully focussed on the 90s today, and I love it. ANDYs mix is a tight one, with a lot of epic tunes, and it has already received positive feedback, and many likes and reposts, but that's all because it's a solid mix. He never disappoints. He always, and I mean always, delivers. Another outstanding mix with classic anthems you don't hear or see that often. Well, I clearly didn't recognise most of them, or maybe I'm not paying attention. Blame me anyway,. What is there to say? A blinding mix with stunning anthems. I don't know what kind of negative criticism I need to give? I honestly cannot think of anything. If you know a reason why I should dislike this mix, do tell (by leaving a comment below). Best record? Oh, tricky one. 'In Effect', as I do love the original, and this version is cool too. Not as cool as the Slipmatt remix, but close enough. OK OK, I found a reason why I should dislike this mix! The download is available (for free), but the file size is 633 MB! Damn son, you a big one! • Early Terror is Gewoon Beter 8.0 (2023)

That's the question for you all today. Is Early Terror better? Are you a fan of Terror music, or it way too strong, too fast, and too powerful for you? Or is it a type of music you love, and it cannot be too fast for you? Do you like it fast, rough, and rugged? Are you like me, basically? As I've mentioned in many reviews, I started listening to Hardcore back in 1993, and Terror only became visible to me around 1996. I did like it, but was more into 'mainstream' Hardcore. Maybe I did find it too hard back then, but I was still a teenager, didn't know what was good music... I do love a bit of Terror. I have developed a love for it, especially the 90s sounding Terror. I still have a lot to learn, as most of the songs I heard during that decade were on albums such as Thunderdome, MOH, , Earthquake etc. Basically all albums released by ID&T and/or Arcade. But I never went full rogue and purchased an underground label album. I always played it safe, so the deep underground anthems were missed by yours truly. But looking at the tracklist, which was put together by Gabber Pinguin, I don't recognise any names. What I meant to say was, I don't recognise a name that I would assume be a 90s Terror producer. They all seem to be 'new' names, and the songs have got the 90s sound, but seem to have been made way after the decade ended. You'll know what I mean when you see the tracklist. Also, Gabber Pinguin? Didn't knew these funny creatures liked gabber music? Slugnoid - Fucking Uptempo 2.0 Hyperactive D - The Battle Speacko - Surrender X2 - N.Y. Distortion Necronym & OTM - Katyusha Pardonax - Synthetic Megamix DJ Kobe - Drop The Bass Amorphoid - Mystic Doll L NEON & Terror Eimbert - The Bullet Pardonax - Alone The Liquidators - Glauben Sie Mir M.C. Roob - For Sure Necronym - Blood Vengeance Speedy Lo - Disco Madness Grosvenor & Fang - Dance Of The Death Persephony - Hell Couldn't Be Any Worse Frankentek - Door Gaan Frankentek & Hitman - Fuck The Police HCM - The Difference Between Deterrent Man - Wrong Answer HCM - Russian Roulette Two Shit Cunts - I'll Smash Your Head In DJ Kobe & Ninetysix - Sphynx Sucre Rose - Tango Mortel Danny Ovington & DJ Narotic - Blasphemy This tracklist only has a few names in it I recognise, but it's all about the music, and what it does to you. Gabber Pinguin has done a remarkable thing. This eight instalment of the Early Terror mix series was the first one I discovered, and there's more online to discover, but with his mix, he has capture a sound I really like and mixed together nicely. The mix is an hour long, which should be long enough for you to get your Early Terror fix, right? It starts off slow, but the BPMs do increase, and toward the end you are listening to Speedcore. It basically becomes insane at the end, and I do like that a lot. The mix is tight, and the Terror/Speedcore anthems thrown at us, are really good. Still under the impression that these were newly made songs that resemble the 90s sound. Can someone comment on that please? Leave a comment below if I'm right, or if I'm talking bollocks?! The Gabber Pinguin has made a wicked mix, and it's put a smile on my face. The songs are good, and I got transcended back into the 90s. The 90s were just so much better, right? Instead of asking which song is my favourite, the main question could be: Terror or Speedcore? And today I'm more into Speedcore. Thanks Pinguin for this mix. It's given me the right amount of energy to get through today! • JAKAZiD @ UntzTime Haunted Dancefloor 6 27-10-2023

There's been a lot of changes lately, and I won't go into all the details, as it can be perceived as boring, but for the next few days, I'll be 'unemployed', and I am without a car. So the only thing I can do, is sit at home, and listen to music. Can't leave the house, but to be fair, it's a bit nippy, so I really wouldn't want to go outside. Sitting indoors, listening to good music, that's what my idea of Heaven is. And today's mix is one you need to hear. Not just because it was made by JAKAZiD, but because the music is awesome, and that's what it's all about! I am not aware of the event, where it took place, or if it was an online event or not. Maybe you can enlighten me with your knowledge? I am guessing, and sometimes it might be the right guess, that it's a Halloween focussed event? I base my judgment on the image above, and the title of the event. But now we should focus on the music, and all the awesome songs used in this set. The set might only be 46 minutes long, but within those minutes he throws hit after hit. He plays the finest UK Hardcore/Happy Hardcore anthems, and they will all leave you with smiles for miles. You will feel happier, more cheerful, and full of energy after. JAKAZiD certainly gives us the tunes to keep us going. Only a handful of names rang a bell, but that's not to worry: just sit back and listen to the set. Not as scary as Halloween, and the tracks aren't haunted enough for you to be scared. You are the complete opposite, nothing can harm you, and you are in your happy bubble. Well, if that ain't you, it is certainly me! I am sitting here, a happy bunny, and have listened to this mix multiple times in a row, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The songs are great, and they are all songs I've not heard before. I know a few artists in this tracklist, but I've just not heard these songs before. That makes the set even more interesting, and it all depends on if the songs actually work well. Well, they work well together, and JAKAZiD did a marvellous job. He keeps us on our toes, and gets us moving. They are all happy, melodic, and very energetic. And I freaking love it. The best song for me? 'Angel Halo' by EFU. What a beast of a track! Love it. • DJ Smurfy Pops - Lindisfarne Festival, Northumberland, England - 02/09/2023 [Cheesy Pop Disco]

It's Sunday, and I'm knackered. Didn't do much this weekend, but I'm drained completely. I am not in the mood for anything hard, rough and rugged, I need something that will put a smile on my face, and that's when I realised that I saved a set by DJ Smurf. It wasn't your standard Smurf mix, but it was slightly different. A cheesy mix. A set recorded at Lindisfarne Festival, in Northumberland, 02,09,2023. And yes, it contains a lot of cheese, maybe too much for you liking, but it will put a smile on your face, and maybe even get you to sing along to? I certainly have listened to this multiple times, as this set contains the records me and the missus both can listen to. She doesn't like the harder styles I appreciate, she's someone who likes a bit of cheese (hence why she married me!). And I have to agree with her. Sometimes you need a bit of cheese, a bit of guilty pleasure, to lighten the mood. The set is packed with cheese. Leave that to mr Smurf to sort it out. Whatever this event was, I'm guessing it was a nice and appreciated welcome. He played at 6pm, and for an hour he made sure the cheese was pouring down the speakers. The visitors to the event were overloaded with cheese, but let's make one thing clear: cheese is cool! Sometimes it's just fun to have a bit of a giggle, and a throwback to the golden years of pop music. The tracklist will make you giggle. Trust me, it will! Paul Hardcastle - The Wizard Dee-Lite - Groove Is In The Heart PJ & Duncan - Let's Get Ready To Rumble Five - Everybody Get Up House Of Pain - Jump Around (DJ Maars Reggae Re-Fix) Run-DMC - Walk This Way Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby Mastermix - The Boybands Are Back In Town Backstreet Boys - Everybody East 17 - House Of Love Take That feat Lulu - Relight My Fire Boyzone - When The Going Gets Tough Westlife - Uptown Girl Five - Keep On Movin Rick Astley vs Chambawamba vs Avicii - Never Gonna Wake Up (Get Knocked Down) Chesney Hawkes - The One And Only The Village People - YMCA (Extended Mix) Black Lace - Black Lace Megamix (12'' Mix) The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) Kylie Minogue - The Locomotion Steps - 5,6,7,8 Rednex - Cotton Eye Joe Vengaboys - We Like To Party This is cheese. Guilty pleasure anthems we all know, and love. Well, love might be a bit of a statement: you might even hate a few songs. But you have to acknowledge that these songs have become timeless classics, and will work at any party. From a wedding to a birthday party to a big event/festival. You will have everyone singing along to the songs. How can you sit still and not jump up and sing? Clap your hands? Stomp your feet? DJ Smurf's set has got everything in it. And it will bring you a level of cheesy euphoria you weren't ready for. Some of the tracks are extremely bad, and some are just too damn good. But that's what makes this set interesting: there's something in it for everyone! It's quirky, but it keeps you going. This would never be a dull set. You know all the songs, and you've sang them a million times, and you will continue doing so, for at least another 50+ years. Were they great songs? Nope. But are they catchy as fuck? Hell yes. I would have to say that Black Lace's megamix is the one that gets me going the most, and it's one of those songs that will stay in your head for days, and it will drive your spouse absolutely mad. Hell, it drove my colleagues mad, and they wished I'd not heard this set by Smurf at all, as I kept singing it to them for hours on TEAMS calls. It's not a smooth mix, but still highly enjoyable. So credit for making a set with these songs, and kind of making them work with each other. I know it is a bit silly, but seeing as I'm Dutch, I cannot hide my love for a bit of cheese. And Smurf has given us the cheese. You ready for the cheese? Ps. I know I kept saying DJ Smurf, but it's Smurfy Pops! Sorry. • Disco & Funky House (October 2023 Part 2)

It's Saturday evening, and I hope you are experiencing a nice evening. Me and the missus had a wonderful day. We went to see family, and even went and bought a new car! How's that for a busy Saturday, eh? Weather wise it's been atrocious, and I hope those that are going to bonfire nights, will get what they want to see: fireworks. If you aren't going out, and you are staying indoors, keeping warm and remain cosy, let me give you something to listen to. A Disco & Funky House mix. That will certainly heat you up a lot1 Someone shared this mix on Soundcloud, and whoever did that, I thank you! I needed to hear this mix, especially after my recent trip to Greece. The bar we stayed at every day/evening/night, they played this kind of music, and it made us feel content. We were both happy, and in a good state of mind, and hearing this mix, it took us back to mainland Greece, and us getting tipsy on cocktails. Love it, take me back right now! I'm not an expert, but I do appreciate the music a lot, so when I looked at the tracklist, I knew it wasn't doing anything to me, and I just had to listen to it, and absorb the music, feel the music flow through my system, and let it make me feel extremely funky. Not taking me back to the golden years of Disco though, but keeping me in the 21st century, and letting me feel the vibes that we really need nowadays, not the vibes that were alive back in the 70s. It's 2023, and the music does not sound like it should have been made in the 70s. It's super fresh, and super exciting to listen to. The songs are solid, and the groove... the groove is smooth! I feel so relaxed, and if I close my eyes (and crank up the thermostat to 40 degrees Celsius), my imagination could take me back to Greece. Imagine, eh? The DJ behind this mix is Fabioh67, and I know nothing about this DJ. Nor do I know anything about the songs used in this mix, but what I do know, is that these songs are funky, sexy, and very sensual! I am sitting here, all relaxed and mellowed out. I've feeling this, I am loving the vibes. Fabioh67, you've made a very interesting and smooth mix, and even though I don't recognise anyone on this mix, or have ever heard these songs before, I do feel enlightened. The hour and 24 minute long mix goes by, and before you know it, you are having the urge to listen to it again, which I'm doing right now. It's been on a few times in a row, and I'm loving it. Feel the love, and spread the love. This is a wicked mix, and should get more recognition. Disco and Funky House is just awesome, am I right? If not, leave a comment below! Best track? 'Your Game'. This is such a sensual track... LOVE IT! • Oldschool Hardcore 1990-1995 - Mixed By RETRO Original Hardcore (2023)

You know I love myself a bit of the early 90s sound, and to find a mix that contains records from 1990 to 1995, that always makes me smile. A bit like the smiley on the image above. He/she is having fun, and that's what I'm experiencing right now. It is an oldschool Hardcore mix, but it's got more in it then expected. Not just Hardcore, but you'll understand what I'm talking about, once you had a good look at the tracklist. Just scroll down a tiny bit, and you'll see the tracklist. But before we proceed, there's a discussion to have , which I think we all need to have. Are we bothered when a mix is dedicated to a specific year or a few years, and songs that are played, weren't from that year? Does that bother you? Or do you not care, and just focus on the overall outcome? Would be interesting to find out, as the mix you are about to listen to, has a few records that aren't oldschool, nor were they released between 1990 and 1995, and aren't even Hardcore! The mix was made by RETRO Original Hardcore, which is a bit of a mouthful, isn't it? Not familiar with the people behind this project, so let's ignore that bit, and talk about the mix. You will look at the tracklist and recognise a lot of the records used, which (as previously mentioned) aren't even 100% Hardcore, but wouldn't go amiss in an early 90s mix, like this one. But which records were selected? You are curious now, aren't you? Rob Janssen - 1988 Mainx - 88 To Piano Digital Boy - This Is Motherfucker The Prodigy - Charly (Alley Cat Mix) The Prodigy - Android Phenomania - Who Is Elvis? Capella - U Got 2 Know (Extended Club Mix) The Horrorist - Can You Hear The Sound? DJ Moka - Start This Record The Mover - Burning Universe Three O' Three - Public Energy Miro - Purple Moon (Remix) Miro feat The Horrorist - S.T.R.O.B.E. Dave Clarke - Gonk (DJ Reflect Bootleg) Liquid - Sweet Harmony Twin Freaks - Gateway Experience Marc Acardipane feat Mescalinum United - We Have Arrived Marc Acardipane - C.S.W.K. (Original Mix) The Horrorist - Flesh Is The Fever Ace The Space - 9 Is A Classic (Castro Space U) Miro - Show Em (Original Version) Tellurians - The Navigator (DJ Misjah Remix) Private Productions - Looped Digital Boy - Tilt 21 (Vinno Ricci Remix) Tellurian - Big Bag City DJ Attic feat Perpetrator & Stylzz - In Your Face Miro - Dark Discovery (Original Version) Crowd Control - Tranzformer (Attic & Acesone Remix) DJ Stardust - Stompin' Jack Flash (Giada Remix) DJ Buzz Fuzz - Frequencies (Marc Acardipane O-skool Remix) I have to say that, just by looking at the tracklist, it makes me a happy man. Most of these were very important records to me, growing up in the Netherlands. This is the shit I grew up with, listening to it. But here's the thing. I am a bit picky, but in the end, not really fussed about if it is or isn't between certain dates. Because, to me, the majority weren't even from 1990 to 1995! But that's just me. At least the songs are great, right? Yes, they are. And there's a shit ton of records by Miro in here, which I really like. Especially 'Purple Moon'. What an underrated classic! A producer that should get the recognition for his work. The tracks are mostly OK. But not 'Flesh Is The Fever'. That's my personal kryptonite. I genuinely hate that record. So overrated. RETRO Original Hardcore didn't know, so I won't deduct any points. There are some mixing errors unfortunately, and the mix (at certain stages) doesn't run as smooth as I wanted it to be. And I don't know what happened during 'Frequencies'. The quality is just not there, maybe the recording levels were down? No bass or nothing. All in all a very nice mix. You will enjoy it though. Oldskool, and not 100% Hardcore. Does that make sense/ Act: RETRO Original Hardcore Genre/Style: Hardcore, Rave, Techno, Gabber, Oldskool Mix Info: Oldschool Hardcore 1990-1995 - Mixed By RETRO Original Hardcore Length Mix: 01:18:49 Tracks: 30 (thirty) Download/Listen (via Soundcloud): STREAM HERE File Size: unknown File Type: unknown Audio: Stereo Sample Rate: unknown Release Year: 2023 More Information: RETRO Original Hardcore - Soundcloud Channel

  • Day-Mar - North Return To The Asylum (2011)

The other day I was on Soundcloud, and someone who made a mix filled with Millennium Hardcore anthems had a few tracks in it, made by Day-Mar. And it got me thinking, ''are there any mixes online made by Day-Mar?'', and the first one I found, was this set at North's 14th birthday event, held back in 2011. And it had an amazing line-up, as far as the eye can see. Angerfist, Unexist, Dione, Scorpio & Producer & Dolphin, Jay Prescott & Marc Smith, Brisk, and many more. And of course Day-Mar was there, and the set is online, for all to witness. I'm guessing it might have been part of a CD pack? I remember those CD packs, and I even purchased a few myself. But never one from North, as I've never been, and not seen many livesets of their events on Soundcloud, or not seen many posts in general. But that's OK though. Day-Mar was fairly unknown to me, until she released 'Embrace The Night', back in 2006. Boy, that was a game changer! That song was played everywhere, and it's still one of my most favourite records ever, but the one that she's made, which is higher on the list, is one a bit more obscure and forgotten, which is called 'No Prada'. Thankfully that track is in this set, which is one of the reasons I'm now listening to this set. And I only know the Hardcore songs she's made, but she made oh so much more1 And there's a few of her records in this set, which blow me to pieces! Seriously, there are some underrated anthems in here you should definitely check out. The tracklist isn't complete, so if you know the unknowns, leave a comment below: Negative A - The End Of The World Day-Mar - Black Widow Mike NRG - Lost In Dreams (Q-Base Anthem 2010) (Boris S. vs Frank Kvitta's Gods Army Remix) Day-Mar - Spinnekop Angel - Industrial Base Tymon - Ambush Angel - Can You See Me ID - ID Angel - Like That Waldhaus - A Journey Through Time Tymon - Nonlinear Dynamics End Of Eternity ID - ID Tones feat MC Impact - Rip It Up Harder DJ Arjuna & Beyonder - Shoot That Motherfuck (Negative A Remix) Life Runs Red - Theta Break Tymon & Waldhaus - Void Day-Mar - No Prada Day-Mar & Korsakoff - Screw Driver Day-Mar - Mindless Day-Mar - Pole Position (Masters Of Hardcore Pole Position Anthem 2008) Day-Mar - Guess What Unexist & Day-Mar - K.O. (Thunderdome Fight Night Anthem 2009) Oh, there are some amazing records in this mix I've not heard in a while. I've not heard this set in its entirety before, so it's all new and exciting, but now I'm happy I discovered it on Soundcloud. I've been listening to this mix over and over, and it surprised me how awesome this set was. Not just your run of the mill Hardcore set, but a set that contains literally everything awesome. From Hard Techno/Schranz to some rough Industrial to some proper Hardcore to everything in between. Day-Mar did a marvellous job, and the crowd in Bristol back in 2011 probably had a wonderful night. I certainly did have a wonderful time listening to this. It's now nearly 11:59am, and it's been on since 06:44am. She takes it slow, and throughout the set the pace increases, and I love how she did it. I didn't even know she made some Techno focussed songs too. If I'm being honest, don't even know if I've ever heard a Day-Mar set before, so I wouldn't know what to expect. But I'm glad I have heard this set, as it's dope as fuck. The MC isn't really needed though. But that's just my opinion. There were three tracks in this set which blew me away the most. 'Spinnekop', 'Shoot That Motherfuck' and 'No Prada'. Can't pick a favourite, as they are all dope. Her set is amazing, and even though it's 12 years old, it still sounds extremely fresh, and the songs haven't aged at all. Classic anthems! Wonderful set. • Strictly Nuskool Vol.3 (2023)

A new album is out. And it's an album compiled by the legendary Greek music lover, Glowkid. The last time I reviewed an album he has released, was back in 2020. But now the third instalment of the Strictly NuSkool CD series is out, and it's out there, for free. As a reviewer I got an early access, but unfortunately I've been slightly busy, so this review is after the release date (which was the 22nd of October). Apologies for the delay, but here we go! It's the third album, but the first one I've reviewed (maybe I did it on my previous website, but can't remember....) Glowkid has done it. A new, freebie album, with tracks you have never heard before! And with this new album he doesn't just promote his own website (which he does though), but he also pushes 'new' and upcoming artists forward. And a quick look at the tracklist does show me that they are all unknowns to me. So I had to go in on this album, completely in the dark, not knowing what to expect. Well, technically speaking, that's not the truth. Of course I know a bit, as the focus is all about NuSkool Rave , which embraces the 90s Hardcore and Jungle sound, but when it comes to the actual tracks, I am completely in the dark. For me, the only thing to do, is to shut up and press play. The album contains 17 records, and they are worth a glance. Don't just dive straight into the download, but appreciate the tracklist. Hell, you might even spot a name on it that you recognise?! Lukas Ungeitis - This Far Planet B - Concentrate Rxry - Hav Ur Luv RenegadeGenius - Think Of You Stu Armstrong - Hold On 2 U Jakuzzi Superstar - This Is Acid Juna - Hardcore Rush Pressure - Champion's Risk Fritz The Cat - Untitled A1 Gaffer - Keep It Raw MOZDJ - Dante BINO - Babylon Simi feat dr Ziom & Angie - Letniaczek MZA - Aerial Break Sexygarbageman - Break It Down DJ HEW - 93 Energy Fence - Tosi Bosi I've not seen any of these names before, but it's all about the music they have made, especially for this CD, right? And is the music good enough to move you, wherever you are? Is it worth a download and maybe a share? It's an album with different views on NuSkool Rave, Jungle/Hardcore. And the artists are from all over the world, so they've come together to make this album work. And work it certainly does. You start listening to this, getting different views and perspectives on this glorious sound, and the result is an album with 17 completely different records, by 17 different artists. And someone who is a sexy garbage man (brilliant name!). There's an oldskool vibe throughout, but as they are fresh and only released on this album, they did a marvellous job in capturing the 90s sound beautifully. Some of the tracks are more melodic, and some are just pure anthems. Some do touch upon the darker side of Rave. Especially my favourite, by someone with a brilliant name: Fritz The Cat. Glowkid has always been at the front of pushing new music forward, and him incorporating this into a free album, that's just amazing. He might be pushing other artists forward, but he should get all the credit he deserves for doing this for 10 years. Another epic album, and hopefully more to come, right? 10 years in the blogging scene, applause mr Glowkid! I salute you, from one 'simple' reviewer to the next! All jokes aside, it's a wicked album. It's a nice mix and match of everything NuSkool related, and the outcome is a very awesome sounding album, worth your time, and a share! • 1991 - 1992 Old Skool Rave Mix Pt 3 (Mickey B) (2023)

Every so often, I like to go back in time. And when I say every so often, I mean multiple times a week. Why? Well, as you grow older, you seem to find the older music much better, and you like to reminisce to the forgotten decade you love the most. For some it's the 80s, some might even like the 70s, but for me it's the 90s. I was a teenager for most of it, but the 90s were just much better, in many ways. Only at a later age did I discover the early 90s rave sound, and I'm glad that I have. Would not have been TCD without it. And for today's mix, we are going back to 1991/1992, with a mix by Mickey Beam. A few of Mickey's mixes have made their way to this website, and they all seem to be focussed on the late 80s to mid 90s music, mainly Rave music. And those are the best years. I still have a lot to discover, but slowly I get to known all the tunes that dominated the dancefloors all over the world. In this mix, Mickey has gone all out, and even though it's only 48 minutes long, within those minutes he throws hit after hit, so be ready for the madness! So let's dive straight into the mix. And there's a few new tracks in here I've not heard before. Or maybe not noticed before. But Mickey has made sure that some of the biggest dance anthems of the 90s were in here, so you will be pleased once you've looked at the tracklist. And trust me, it's a bundle of joy! T99 - Anasthasia 1991 Dance City - Melba DJ Seduction - You & Me Zero B - Lock Up The Prodigy - What Evil Lurks Anticappella - Everyday Altern 8 - Infiltrate 202 Rum & Black - Wicked The House Crew - Get On Up Cosmo & Dibs - Star Eyes Isotonik - Different Strokes Wishdokta - Teknozkitzo (Coming Up Mix) DJ Seduction - Come On Sy-Kick - Upside Nino - Future Of Latin DJ Edge - Culminatr Mix Jonny L - Hurt U So Demon Boyz - Jungle Dett Baby D - Let Me Be Your Fantasy (Acen Remix) There are a lot of big hitters in this mix, they will surely put a smile on your face, ear to ear. Mickey's selection is, as always, excellent. And as 'old' as they might be, they are still as relevant as they were, when they were released. And due to their importance, they have become dancefloor smashers, decades after their initial release. I really enjoyed this set. Short, but very sweet. And some big tracks. Including a track by The Prodigy I wasn't familiar with. Mickey gets the crowd going, and if you ain't moving, there's something wrong with you. Your body should be moving as vigorously as humanly possible. You cannot sit still, and enjoy this. I simply won't have that as an answer. Dance, like no one is watching! Dance! Not much to say. Worth a listen. And it's got an Altern 8 track in here. Oh, and it's also downloadable, so that's an added bonus. Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I have. • Garf Got Hard (2023)

After listening to an oldskool mix, I went onto Soundcloud to check out the latest uploads, and the one you are about to listen to, is one uploaded to History of Happy Hardcore's Soundcloud channel. It was a mix done by a friend of the channel, hence why my shock and horror was quickly turned into happiness. This mix isn't Happy Hardcore, but stil worth a listen, according to the channel. Don't know who Garf is, or why he/she got hard, but let's go into this mix, before we are destroyed by the angry looking figure on the image above (is that Garf?).... So what's in this mix? The title or the image don't give the answers, but a quick look at the tracklist and the hashtags underneath the mix, they will provide us with the answers. A bit of Techno, Hard Trance, Hardstyle, and everything in-between. And even though I'm not an expert, I do have to say that the mix is interesting enough to give it a go. It's only an hour long, but within that hour, Garf goes nuts. The tunes thrown at us are a bit bonkers, The BPMs might not be a thousand, but they are close enough for you to move your body, raise your fists high up in the air, and you might even sweat a bit. It is highly energetic, and extremely catchy. So which tracks made Garf go hard? Wow, that sounds like an innuendo... El Mefti, Holy Priest & FAC - Fuck This Creeds - Push Up BYØRN - Shivaya Bollman - Rampage Alignment - Old School Konstruct Alliance & NOO - Unleash MAHTAL - All In This Alignment - Close Your Eyes Gonzi & Creeds - Donkers Niereich - Bring That Shit Back Luciid - AC130 DJ Mad Dog & CANCEL - Remind El Mefti, Holy Priest & FAC - Fuck The Police Alex Farrell - 90's Motherfucker Klangkluster & Oberna - Die Weit Brent I was expecting a Happy Hardcore mix, when I saw that it was posted on the History of Happy Hardcore channel, but this Techno focussed mix was a nice and warm welcome. Something different, something unexpected. And the hour has flown by. The mix itself is nice. Getting a bit fed up of hearing those 'Push Up' vocals as those vocals are played everywhere, and it's getting on my nerves now. Maybe I need a short break from it, for it to become epic again. But it works well in this mix. Garf's mix is a good one, with some solid anthems. I think, for me, the first track is the best of this mix. Especially when the beat kicks in after they say 'fuck this'. Love that, and it's a good opening record. It sets the tone, and gives us a glimpse of what's about to happen. I wasn't expecting this mix, but I'm glad I gave this a go. Worth a listen, and whoever Garf is, thanks for this mix. More of this quirky mixes, please. Ps. can anyone clarify, is the DJ behind this mix Garf? Or is it just a quirky name selected? • DJ A.K. - 92 - 94 Breakbeat Hardcore & Jungle Mix 14.10.23

I woke up today, knowing what I know now. The weekend has emerged, and I need something to listen to whilst doing the chores. They are always dreadful to do, and if you put on the standard radio stations, they are filled with dross. Boring music. Songs you hear 24/7, at least being played 36974 times a day. I needed something with a bit more energy, a bit more nostalgic, and a bit that gives me just the right amount of bodily movement (external, not internal). And you know which channel I have to visit, to get my daily fix? You damn right, it's DJ A.K.'s page! DJ A.K. always delivers, and with his latest mix, he takes us back to 1992, 1993, and 1994. I have not encountered a mix yet by A.K. which wasn't superb. They have all been amazing so far, and he's very active on Soundcloud. Blink, and he's already added a new mix. It's a non stop stream of excellent mixes, and his latest is focussed on those 3 years, and the music that was released back then. Yes, it's packed with Breakbeat Hardcore and Jungle anthems. You'll love it! As always, he selected a few records, and mixed them together. But knowing him, they are the best of the best. And after listening to this mix once, I knew that he did exactly that! The tracks are solid as a rock, and they are timeless pieces of Rave history. They made the scene as big as it was to become, and they were influential records for generations to come. A solid selection, but I would not have doubted that A.K. would provide us only with the best of the best. Rhythm For Reason - Grand National (Tango Remix) Urban Hype - I Feel The Heat Mystery Man - DJ Business Top Buzz - Livin' In Darkness 93 Krome & Time - The Slammer Q-Tex - E-Creation Nookie - Shining In Da Darkness Force Mass Motion - Panic Pouch & Coulter - Love Me Now DJ Pooch - Musics So Orca - 4AM DJ Seduction - Everybody DJ's Unknown Vol. 1 - Side B (Mix 2) i Fat Controller - In Complete Darkness DJ Pooch - Our Love DJ Red Alert & Mike Slammer - Ruffer!!! A few records stand out, that's for sure, and when Red Alert and Mike Slammer records are on, the whole room changes: the atmosphere goes insane! I start dancing like there's no tomorrow! Their tracks are just masterpieces. They should be on display in a museum, for all to see, and hear. From the start the pace is set, and the tunes will get darker over time. To start with 'Grand National' and to end with 'Valley Of The Shadows', you know shit is about to go down! And it does go down. It's hit after hit, and they are so damn good: if you were to close your eyes, you can imagine being back in the 90s again, raving at this obscure venue, raving until the cops turn up, and tell you to do one. The music is just so damn rough and tough, and DJ A.K.s selection is just perfect. The right speed, the right amount of power behind each track, and if you add them into an hour and 21 minute long mix, you get a beautiful mix you should definitely check out. As mentioned, Red Alert and Mike Slammer songs are currently my favourite ones. Especially 'Ruffer!!!'. Boy, when that hits, it hits HARD. They made the songs so damn good, and some go so damn fast, it's like it goes from 'normal' to 'hyper' in a second. Very influential records, and very influential producers. Only love and appreciation, but that's just my standard response to an A.K. mix. But when does he disappoint us? Never. He always delivers excellent mixes, and he should get all the recognition on Soundcloud. Go and play all of his mixes. He's got tons of them , so have fun! DJ: A.K. • Noisetalgia Podcast 021: Scot Project (2023)

About 9 months ago, this new Soundcloud channel emerged, which was called Noisetalgia. This channel uploads bi-weekly mixes, focussed on mainly producers that have created the scene as it is toda. They have been Trance producers that have left a mark on the scene, and Indecent Noise, the man behind the channel, has made sets roughly an hour and a half long, for each of the artists. It's always pleasant to see new podcasts being dropped, and some have already made it to this website (as a review). The 21st edition of this podcast series could not have been left behind, as it's an appreciation mix, focussed on the amazing producer Scot Project! And when I say big names, I do mean big names: Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Push, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond, Mauro Picotto, Marco V, DuMonde, Cosmic Gate, Kai Tracid, and the list goes on and on. Those are the big names, and a true Trance lover knows each and every one of them. And we can even name songs from each artist, without hesitation. But the one artist, which only made their appearance a few weeks ago, is the one I truly admire, and love when it comes to their music. Scot Project has been on my radar since the early 2000nd, and has never left. Scot Project had his first release in 1994, and has had many successful releases over the next few decades. To my knowledge, the best years for him, were after 2000. That's when I discovered him, and I truly believe that the first song I've ever heard from him, was 'Hands Up' by Arome, remixed by Scot Project. Many amazing releases later, he has established himself as one of the finest Hard Trance producers out there, and many fans would agree. His music has become timeless classics, and can be played in any set. But which track in this set you are about to listen to, is the one track I feel can be played whenever, wherever? Which is Scot Project's finest track? Hennes & Cold - The Second Trip (DJ Scot Project Remix) Arome - Scream (Scot Project Remix) Scot Project - R (Rock!) Derb - Derb (Arome Remix) Cosmic Gate - Fire Wire (DJ Scot Project Remix) Scot Project - F (Future Is Now) (Hardriff Mix) Arome - Hands Up (Scot Project Remix) Thomas Rubin - Cold Night (Scot Project Mix) Yoji Biomehanika - Ding A Ling (Scot Project Remix) DJ Vortex & Arpa's Dream - Incoming (Arome Remix) Arome - Visions Of Paradize (Scot Project Remix) Scot Project - U (I Got A Feeling) (V Mix) Scot Project - FM2 (Feeling Me) Scot Project - L (I Want Your Love) Arome - Here We Go (DJ Scot Project Remix) Scot Project - X2 (Time Is Now) Orion's Voice - Cockroaches (Scot Project Remix) Yoda - Definitely (Scot Project Remix) Beam vs Cyrus - Thunder In Paradise (Scot Project Remix) Scot Project - O (Overdrive) Ooh, this gives me goosebumps! This is Heaven in a nutshell for me. I'm a Trance lover for many decades, but when Scot Project comes on, I can literally drop everything, and just dance until the sun comes up. This is my jam, this is my music. This is just heavenly. Gorgeous, some would say. And you know what? I do wholeheartedly agree! I've listened to this mix so many times now, and I'm still feeling the vibes coming at me at full speed! And there are tons of excellent tunes in here, you cannot understand how I feel about this without knowing me. I find Scot Project one of the best producers of all time. Especially when he makes all time classics, which seems to be in his nature to do. You might be thinking that my favourite one in this mix is 'L (I Want Your Love)', and you wouldn't be wrong, but it shares the top spot with 'Cold Night'. That's yet another epic song! But when ''I Want Your Love'' comes at you through your speakers, you feel that shit! You feel the core tremble. You feel emotional. You feel like an angel is talking to you. Those vocals are INSANE! Credit to Indecent Noise for yet another amazing mix. One of my favourite producers, and his finest work in an hour and a half long mix. Couldn't ask for more. Christmas has come early this year!
