I think I've said it before, but I'm really baffled by the mix you are about to listen to. Well, technically speaking it isn't this mix, it's this mix series. It is quirky, weird, and yet interesting. It has a few celebs in it, like Matthew McConaughey, Jude Law, Keanu Reeves, Sylvester Stallone, Dustin Hoffman, and now Rob Lowe. If I recollect, this will be the third review, and I'm still not 100% sure that I'm getting the message. But that's not up to me, that's down to the DJ, who is Rígur Lárus. Wouldn't even know how to pronounce his name, Rígur Lárus. But it's all about the quirkiness of this mix, and what this mix does to you. Once you've gone passed the introduction, the music kicks in, and the set takes you to another level. A level of euphoria. You might be a bit Lowe on energy before this mix, but you will certainly regain the lost energy once you press play. Just a side note: no Rob Lowe's were injured during the making of this mix. None were harmed. None were used against their will. Good, we've cleared that up, now let's talk shop. Most of these records are new to me, and the artists too. But that's the glorious thing about mixes like this one: Rígur Lárus brings not only the quirkiness, but the tracks and artists I've not heard before, blends it all together, and delivers a set you don't want to miss. I have fallen silent. I have nothing to say, or even comment negatively about this mix. This is yet another amazing mix by Rígur Lárus, but this one I thoroughly enjoyed the most. Why? Not because of Rob Lowe (no offense, mr Lowe), but because of the tunes selected to make this weird mix. Well, I shouldn't say weird, because the mix ain't weird: it's the intro, the concept of this mix. The tunes are banging! And two stand out the most. Want to guess which ones they are? I'll save you the hassle of guessing which ones they are. 'XX' and 'Via Infinita'. Both epic anthems. Rígur Lárus has selected a very fine few records, and the hour flies by before you know it. Or Lowe it. I've not heard any of these songs before, but they will surely remain in my head for the rest of the day. Maybe even the rest of the week? Brilliant job, mr Rígur Lárus. Am I European? Check. Was I alive throughout the 90s? Well, when it started, I was 7 years old, and when it ended, I was 17, so yes. And did I love the 90s? Sure. It was an important decade for me. It was important, as it defined my youth a lot. And yes, if you look at the image above, those were the colours and fonts of the 90s. A very colourful and happy decade for most of us. This was before the internet exploded, so we were still happy, and lived our lives to the max. Yes, TV shows of the 90s, some haven't aged well, but when it came to music, it has aged well. Like a fine wine. Every day I listen to this Dutch radio station, called Radio Decibel, and they play a lot of 90s music. And it makes me happy. Reminds me of the lost decade and the music it generated. Was it cheese? Yes, it was. But it was memorable music, and music that has stood the test of time. We are now listening to it, 20-30 years since the songs were released, and we are still excited to hear those classics. They put a smile on our faces, and make us remember a decade that has long gone. DJ A.K. made this mix, and it's not in line with his other mixes. But he gave it a go, and it has gained traction. A lot of positive feedback, so hopefully he'll do them more often, as there's clearly a demand for Euro Dance/Italo House music. I did buy everything in the 90s, but A.K. did find a few songs which versions I've not heard before. Which makes them more interesting. I'm not saying that they are better, but it makes the mix more interesting. Discover new music which isn't new. Can we all agree that the 90s was a dope decade? Can we? Kids who didn't experience the 90s cannot talk. It's us oldies. Well... old is a term I wouldn't like to us, but compare to those young kids I do feel old. You don't see and hear these anthems that often anymore. Well, there are a few you would hear on 90s radio stations, but for example the 'L'Amour Toujours' track. The version used by A.K. isn't the one you hear. Or what about the 'Set You Free' mix by TTF? Not the version I hear on the radio. It's a very nice mix, and not filled with too much cheese. Proper dancefloor classics. And a few he found were complete unknowns to me. The 90s were just so damn good. The present day dance music isn't my cup of tea, and won't be all time timeless classics like these tunes from the 90s. They just can't be. The 90s dominated everything, and to this day it dominates the music scene. Just play anything from the 90s, and people all sing along and wave their hands in the air. I do like this mix a lot, and have saved it as one my favourites in a dedicated playlist. One my wife would also listen to. (she's not a fan of 90% of the music I listen to, so it's nice to see a mix out there she appreciates too!) Only criticism I've got is the N-Trance song. The original has been played over and over. This song, as good as it might have been in the 90s, grinds my gears. On adverts, on the radio, in many, many mixes.. I've lost the love for it, and I had it once. It's just meh for me. Can't deny it's a classic, but I'd rather listen to the other 18 tracks in this mix. Radio overkill is to blame. I still give this mix a 5 out of 5 stars. Why? Because of A.K. taking me back to my childhood. And whenever someone does that, they get extra credits for doing so. I feel young again! I am in love. Well, yes, I am. And I have been for many years. I've eventually married her. But you can also love other things in life, like the mix you are about to listen to. I am in awe of this mix, and for good reason: it's probably the coolest mix you will hear in a while. And to prove to you how much I am in love with it: I had to Shazam the fuck out of it, and roughly 40-50% of the songs aren't even recognised on the app! I needed to have the tracklist, but unfortunately it came with none, so there was only one thing for me to do: make it myself. I was that determined to get a list, and now I have it, my life is complete. Well, as complete as the list is. ROD. You might know him as Benny Rodrigues. Well, that's how I know him, as I didn't know he had a new or different name. I scrolled through my timeline on Soundcloud, and there it was: the latest instalment of the highly successful mix series set up by HATE. I recognised the person on the image, and once I pressed play, I realised it was Benny, but that wasn't the only thing that I recognised. The music. OH MY GOD. How awesome is this mix? Have you checked it out already? Well, I have. And I've listened to this mix at least a hundred times over the last few weeks. This mix has dominated my life, and today especially. I've been hard at work , and needed something to boost my confidence. And something that has got such an energy level, that it would automatically increase my own levels to its own level. I'm sitting here, bouncing up and down, from 6am to 6pm. I am hyped beyond belief. This mix contains everything I needed to hear in life. ROD's mix is insane. I've had the pleasure to hear him play a few times, and I've always been highly blessed to have witnessed him. I do love his style, be it as ROD or Benny. This mix is a next level mix. I'm loving the mix a lot, and it's currently my most favourite Techno mix of all time, and that's a statement. Give it a couple of weeks and I'll find a new one, but for now, I'm happy that this HATE mix has entered my life. It is a mix, but it's more a liveset mix. ROD performed at MORD in Amsterdam back in February of this year. If I was there, I would have been all over it. The dancefloor I mean. What a set this was. An hour and a half of pure pleasure. Eargasms all over the place. ROD certainly knows how to please the fans, and there's no better way of entering the weekend than with this mix. There's not a single thing wrong with this mix. It's beautiful. It's perfect. It's everything I wanted to hear. And the tracks are all solid. I would have devoured the music on the dancefloor and they would have to sweep me off it, because I wouldn't want to stop dancing. Epic mix. There are hundreds of other HATE mixes out there, and I've listened to a handful, but this one to me stands out the most. What a blessing in disguise, this ROD. I've been quiet for roughly a week, but that's because I've been busy. But don't you worry, son. I'm back with a mix you really should check out, if you are into UK Hardcore, and remember the golden years of Milton Keynes raving. Unfortunately, even though I live only a few miles outside of MK, I've never been raving in MK. Especially during the heydays of UK Hardcore. DJ Protocol's mix contains records from the awesome years during which UK Hardcore was everywhere, and was at its peak. This is the second instalment, so if this isn't enough for you (like John Peel isn't enough either), go check out RSR Recordings' Soundcloud channel for the other mixes. I am a huge fan of the sound from that decade. DJ Protocol's mix contains the records I grew up listening to. I think I've mentioned it a billion times over the years, but as I'm from the Netherlands, UK Hardcore wasn't a huge thing. Hell, it wasn't a thing at all. This happy sound never reached Dutch shores, so when I found it by accident around 2002/2003, I got hooked on it, and I jumped in at the right time. The music was ace, and it got my attention rather quickly. And it turns out that this specific decade is loved, and cherished by many. Hurray for UK Hardcore and the Millennium years! This mix has been on repeat for multiple hours now, and even yesterday, when I was at HQ, I was listening to this. And guess what? The journey home, which takes me on the M25 and M1, which took me 2 1/2 hours... guess what I listened to? Correct, this mix. This is a very nostalgia driven mix. If you grew up with a love for UK Hardcore, you love this era, this decade. It's just so awesome, and DJ Protocol has selected a few of the finest tracks he could find. I remember nearly buying the whole Bonkers series based on my experience back in 2002/2003. I fell in love, but not with the earlier Bonkers, but with the Bonkers X, or if you can't read roman numerals, Bonkers 10. That's when my love just exploded and it cost me dearly. Cost me as in the money I've spent on getting UK Hardcore albums to the Netherlands. I feel young again, hearing these songs. And I need something to boost my mood at the moment. I've been flat out working from 6:30am, and haven't had a proper break. Work is now consuming everything, and the only escapism I've got, is this mix. But it's a solid mix, and it does take me back to the noughties. These are just the gems you need to hear. And we need to be reminded constantly how awesome the music used to be. A fantastic mix by Protocol. And it's yet another amazing mix to add to my music collection on Soundcloud. I've not checked the other two mixes in this series, but I'm going to do that right now. The year is 1999. The Millennium was about to happen, and the world was anxious to know if the world would implode due to the Millennium bug. And wasn't 1999 the year Prince was singing about? It was a big year, especially for Trance music, because that was the year I fully developed a constant love and passion for it. Trance has been around for years, but when Hardcore was going through some problems, I needed something to fill the gap, and Trance was the one that embraced me, and told me that everything was going to be fine. And 1999 was also the year I started purchasing a shit ton of CD compilations. I've spent a lot of money at my local CD store that year, and the following years. And boy, was it a good year for Trance music. Scott Bond showed us ten years ago that the year 1999 was a great year. Scott Bond does know a thing or two about music, and if you don't know him, it might be the right time for you to go onto Wikipedia, and read a bit more about him. And while you are at it, why not discover some other bits of information you didn't know. Always good to educate yourself. Scott has been active in the scene for quite a while now, and also co-founded ''Gatecrasher'', and their Trance albums are still adored and appreciated to this day, so he knows a thing or two about Trance music, and it shows: his mix is nearly 2 hours long, but has got 18 excellent anthems in it. No short radio edits, but the full length versions. He made sure you did feel what the ravers felt in 1999. Pure bliss, and in pure ecstasy. I don't know why it's taken me 10 years to find this mix, but at least I'm not too late to join the party. If you haven't heard this one before, check it out right now, and join the festivity. My sweet Jesus, they are so freaking good! I remember hearing them at parties and raves, and even at some local clubs. This was such a great time for Trance music, and also for the fans of it. Give me late 90s/early noughties Trance any day of the week. Not that current style people seem to dig. Nothing beats the classics. And Scott has put 18 of those classics in here. He doesn't take any prisoners, this Scott Bond does. His mix is interesting from the first to the last track, and he keeps us dancing wherever we are. And it's a trip, a trip back in time. When Trance ruled the world. This brings back a lot of good memories. Me digging through the crates at my local CD store, seeing if I could find a hidden gem. And spending thousands of euros. That's the sad thing. But it was oh so worth it, as it expanded my musical knowledge, and gave me an undying love for music in general. Scott's mix is truly amazing. It's got too many wicked classics to mention, and I can't even pick one out, which I would consider to be my favourite. I like them all. Seriously, I like them all. The mix might be 10 years old, and the tracks roughly 24 years old, but they still sound fresh, and not outdated whatsoever. Trance is timeless. Let's end the day with something hard, rough, and old. It's a series I already wrote about a long time ago, but I only rediscovered it a few hours ago, and thought I'd give it another go. In this series, which is called 'Early Hardcore', there were 5 mixes, starting back in 1991, going all the way up to 1995.The first time I saw this series and wrote about it, was the first mix in this series, dedicated to the years 1991 and 1992, and it was called 'The Full Moon Sessions'. And if you haven't spotted his name on the image above: the mixes were made by DJ Radium. If there's someone that can provide us with awesome Early Hardcore, it's DJ Radium. Active in the scene since 1994, first known as Micropoint as part of a project, and then creating his own alias, called Radium. He's been on the forefront of the French Hardcore scene, and to this day keeps Hardcore alive and well in France. His discography is an interesting read, so if you have a few minutes spare, go and check his info out, which you can find on Discogs. For those die-hard motherfuckers who know everything, we move away from his discography, and we dive straight into this mix. For this mix his focus was the years 1992 and 1993, which were still the very early years of Hardcore. Hardcore was still in development, and finding its roots. At certain stages it was fragile and very unstable, but a few records gave it the platform/base it needed to work from, and what they created was something glorious. But without those early years, we wouldn't have Hardcore in 2023. It would have been as dead as dodos. And we should pay homage to those forgotten and underrated records. Most DJ will go to 1995 as earliest, maybe even dabble in 1994, but before is a no-go. But why not? Give some love to the real OG records. The records that gave us Hardcore 4 life. Yep, I said it. Without 1991/1992 & 1993, we would have nothing. Especially toward the end, shit all goes down, and Radium cranks up the temperature. You will certainly need to cool down after this session. This is a very solid looking tracklist. It's beautiful. This is early Hardcore. Yes, very early. They certainly don't make Hardcore like this anymore. Which is a pity, in my honest opinion, as it was so freaking ace. It was everything and nothing at the same time. As said before, Hardcore was developing itself, growing from some disgusting creature into a beautiful butterfly, and around 1992/1993 it started to shed the cocoon it was in. But there were still some rough edges around it, which you can hear throughout this mix. The records are just pure pleasure for your ears. I really enjoyed it. It isn't flawless, there are some mixing errors in here, but nothing too major. Generally speaking, this mix flows well, and has got a few excellent tracks in here. I couldn't choose, so I picked these three as my favourite: 'SP 23 - Network 23', 'Hardsequencer - Feels So Good', and 'Zekt - External'. Those are really the best in this mix. A solid mix. If you want your Hardcore rough, tough, and blunt as possible, this is it. Hardcore at its finest. The finest years of Hardcore, am I right? The Golden days of Early Hardstyle. That's quite a statement. But you know TCD could not just let this mix go by without writing about it? Well, truth be told, Iridium DJs channel contains more than 6.5k tracks, so if I do miss a mix here and there, it ain't my fault. But he kindly informed me that there were a few mixes on his channel, which he made, and thought they could be interesting for me to have a listen to. I gave it a thought, and decided to go with his June 2023 mix. Both were dedicated to the early Hardstyle sound, but the image of the June mix appealed to me more. Don't ask me why. By quickly checking the tracklist on Soundcloud, it does appear to be early Hardstyle anthems. The oldest being from 1998, and the 'youngest' from 2002. So he is staying true to his word. They are all early Hardstyle anthems. But are they good anthems? Were they anthems that got thousands of people on the dancefloors all over the world? Were they the ones that got people in some kind of ecstasy? The short answer is 'yes'. But so is the long answer. It's got some heavy hitters in it, by the big names from around the start of the decade. And the most frustrating thing about not just Iridium's mixes but all mixes dedicated to a sound that doesn't exist anymore, is that it is annoying as hell. Why can't we have the present day Hardstyle and the older sounding Hardstyle, all together in harmony, still being produced the way they did it 20 years ago? Why is it gone? Boy, I miss it so freaking much. Nearly brings a tear to my eye. But it also brings a smile to my face, knowing that there are kids out there who didn't dance to these tunes throughout the night. They are insanely good anthems, worthy enough to be played more and more. They deserve a stage, as they have become anthems for past, present, and future generations who adore the harder styles. This is a really good mix. Not that long, but within the hour and a half you do get 19 amazing records. And, as mentioned before, all from the early years of the noughties. Those were the glorious years, the golden years of Hardstyle. He's picked a wide variety of records by different artists, and blended them all together nicely. Really enjoyed a few records more than others, but the overall gist is positive. This takes me back, and with a smile on my face am I sitting here, thinking how awesome life was, 20 years ago. Normally I would select any Megamind track as my favourite, but it's Melanie Di Tria and Kenji Ogura's track 'Kreissage Typ A' which blew me away the most. A solid mix. Let's start off today with a cool sounding mix. And it comes with a rather weird and bizarre looking image. I'm not a kitchen expert nor do I cook, but isn't that a thing that mashes potatoes? A masher? Whatever it is called, it's weird to see on an image. But that's the only weird thing about this mix. From the start of this mix it is just pure bliss and madness, presented (and obviously mixed) by Mafs. I've never heard or seen the name Mafs before, but from now on, he's gained a follower, and you might see more mixes like this one on my website. Bunker Beats. Sounds so ominous. So dangerous. So underground. And that's what this is. A mix focussed on Drum & Bass and Jungle from around 1993, and the tracks are considerably darker. These tracks were mixed on 1210s, to quote Mafs : ''as god intended''. Don't know if god was a fan of 1210s or a fan of Drum & Bass/Jungle, but if he is, then he's definitely cool as fuck! Unfortunately I know nothing about DJ Mafs, but I do know a bit about Drum & Bass and Jungle from around 1993. I'm still learning though, as I was mainly into Techno and House and Hardcore back in the day, not DnB or Jungle. The only jungle I listened to, was the songs from the Jungle Book. But it seems that Mafs dug deep and found some hidden gems. Some commented on his mix stating they had never heard certain songs before, and that's what makes a mix more interesting. Dig deep and find those hidden gems, and get them into a mix. So instead of focussing on the names of the artists, let's focus on this mix. And the mix flies by before you know it. DJ Mafs' mix is tight as fuck, and it flows very nicely. They are so damn cool, I've had this mix on repeat since 6am, and I'm still loving it. His selection blends all together very nicely, and the tracks are all super dope. I've never heard most of these songs before, so it's all new and exciting. And Mafs keeps me on my toes, dancing around my office. Couldn't care less if anyone sees me. I'm having fun. His selection is indeed a tad darker compared to most Drum and Bass and Jungle from around 1993, but not the darkest of dark. Everyone knows I am Dutch. Hell, if you haven't noticed it, please check our website address: www.thecrazydutchmansblog.co.uk . Obvious that I'm Dutch. But obviously I've been living in the UK for quite a while, and I've grown accustom to a lot of British things. My way of living has changed, but sometimes I want to be reminded of the Netherlands, and their culture. Preferably the food from our chippy, but unfortunately there's no Dutch chippy near me. The next thing I would appreciate, is Dutch music. Nederhop, as it's called. Which is the Dutch trying to be a bit Hip Hop/RnB. It's a bit different, but sometimes it's cool to hear. Today is the day I am listening to Nederhop/Bubbling classics. Normally I would say that I dislike Dutch folklore music. And I'm not even lying. I genuinely dislike Dutch folklore/pop music. But the only exception is Dutch Hip Hop. It's because I've always liked R&B and Hip Hop. My introduction was around 1994/1995, and I grew up appreciating it a lot. Nederhop grew over the years, and for me it was around 1999 when I started to like it more and more. But if I'm honest, it would never be a genre I would put in my top 10 most favourite genre list. But it's certainly in the top 25. I grew up, listening to Nederhop, and before it became commercially destroyed, I actually appreciated it. And to find a mix dedicated to Nederhop, is kind of cool, and it reminds me of driving in the Netherlands, windows down, speakers blowing up.. and wearing clogs. (that's a joke, I certainly don't wear clogs or ever owned a pair, because why would I?). My connection with the Netherlands, that's what this is. And it reminds me of certain words I've forgotten about. Words I would not say here in the UK, because no one would understand them. Broodje bakpao? Watskeburt? Da RicO made this mix, and it's only an hour long, but it's got a lot of tracks I know, and also a lot I've never heard of. The bubbling side of Dutch music was never my favourite, but can't complain. At least it's danceable, right? He keeps the entertainment level high, and it's hit after hit. I think that the majority of these songs did appear on the Dutch Top 40. I might be wrong, but I think that they did. They are radio friendly songs, and to be fair, you can swear on Dutch songs, and they are played out loud, from 1 am to 11 pm. Basically 24/7. There's no pre watershed rules and regulations. So all these songs could be played whenever, wherever. But I've been out of the Netherlands for a few years, and my main focus was never Nederhop, even when I lived in NL. I did listen to it, whenever it came on the radio, but would never go out of my way to listen to it. Only after seeing New Kids would I play 'Broodje Bakpao', or 'Me Nikes'. If you speak or understand Dutch, you might like this mix. It's different, funky, and very bubbly. I'm the least bubbliest person, so you might think that it doesn't suit me. But the bubbly is indeed not my most favourite, but I can still appreciate it, listen to it, and bounce my booty. A few of the tracks are too cheesy, even for my ears. But Da RicO has added a few classics I grew up, especially the ones made by Brainpower, Def Rhymz, The Opposites, The Partysquad etc. Some of the tracks are just so plain, boring, and maybe not my cup of tea. You might like them. It's mixed. Not a huge fan of the bubbly stuff, but when it's hard, rough, and it blows up your speakers (like 'Wat Wil Je Doen'), that's my kind of music. That era of Nederhop I really like a lot, and you can find a few of those tracks in here. Worth a shot. Especially when it's an unknown kind of music. Worth exploring, right? But come on, 'Shenkie', 'Meisje', 'Rampeneren'... they are really bad! Maybe it's time for them to put those songs to bed, and never to let them be awoken. Let them sleep forever! ''Calling The Hardcore''. Well, I think I'm Hardcore enough, but unfortunately I've missed this event, which took place only 4 days ago, in Brighton. I was occupied anyway, so I had an excuse not to go. But after hearing one of the sets recorded on the night, I wish I went to this event instead. As you can see from the line-up flyer above, there are some big names on this list. Including the artist you are about to listen to, DJ Jedi. Not the first time his name appeared on this website, and certainly not the last. Maybe he played a trick on me, a Jedi mind trick? Who knows what kind of trick he played, I couldn't care less. The more of his music, the merrier. And his mix contains a lot of excellent anthems, all from vinyl. All these oldskool Breakbeat anthems. The kind of Hardcore they don't make anymore like they used to. I do love a bit of Breakbeat Hardcore, and his set is filled with excellent tunes by the biggest names. You will look at this tracklist, and you'll be amazed by the awesomeness of it all. You will not comprehend the power behind a few of these songs, unless you know of their existence, and you know that I'm not talking bollocks. Some of these records are genuinely amazing records that will stand the test of time. DJ Jedi did bring the heat. But what was on the decks throughout his nearly hour long set? Standing there, on the dancefloor, hearing these tunes coming at you, at lightspeed. DJ Jedi does what he does best, and keeps people on their toes. There were two tracks I didn't find cool, maybe because I don't find the lyrics/vocals a bit meh. 'The Power Within' and 'We Can Ride The Boogie'. MJs least favourite song for me, and yes, I know the lyrics weren't MJ singing it, but another vocalist, but still. Never liked the boogie. Never will like the boogie. But what does get me on the dancefloor, and stomp the hardest? 'Feel The Energy' by Blame! Oh my days. Is this an insane track or what? The vocals just touched my soul, and I sat here, in awe, not realising what just had happened. Her vocals are insane, but the track in itself is also insane. Breakbeat Hardcore turned up to the max! I could listen to this track hours in a row, and it would still sound amazing. A wonderful set, and maybe I should pay more attention to the world around me. When they call out the Hardcore, I should listen. I should be calling the Hardcore too! Happy Hardcore. I do love it a lot. My love for it emerged back in 1994, and is still present. It's coming up to 30 years of Happy Hardcore in my life, which is a very long time, but I could not have lived through the 90s and not have experienced this madness. This cheerfulness. It was a warm welcome, a nice escape from the harder side of Hardcore. A bit of cheese won't hurt no one. And guess what kind of music is in the mix you are about to listen to? You've guessed it: Happy Hardcore! A mix to promote the Colosseum's Rebirth party, which takes place on the 4th of November at the Fed in Gateshead. And it's mixed by DJ Colin Bell, who's also on the flyer, as you can see! The line-up looks OK. A lot of unknown names, but that could be because I've never been to one of these Colosseum events. So instead of focussing on the event, let's focus on this promo mix. And the promo mix contains all the cheese you need. Well, not everything is cheese, but some tracks certainly are. But the good kind of cheese, not the smelly, discoloured cheese. The good kind of cheese we all love and appreciate! This mix has been on repeat for a few days now, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. And I'm not the only one who appreciates Colin's mix. It's a nice blend of the well known classics, and some lesser known anthems. And when I say lesser known, I mean that they don't get played that often, which is a pity, as they deserve to be played more. But yeah, this mix resembles my youth. This is what I listened to when I was a little lad. The only thing for me to do, is to close my eyes, and in a split second I am a teenager again, covered in spots and wacky hair, but enjoying Happy Hardcore! The term 'resurrection' means the following, according to several websites: ''Resurrection or anastasis is the concept of coming back to life after death.'' It is so fitting for what happened to Hardcore in general around the end of the 90s, beginning of the Millennium years. But was it really dead, and worth being resurrected? Was it as dead as the title of this compilation suggested? Something was indeed happening, but it wasn't dead. It became more underground, which it needed. But dead? No, not at all. And proof of it lies within the continued support throughout the early years of the noughties, and how it's still alive and kicking. ID&T released many Hardcore compilations, for example: 'Ravers Paradise', 'Thunderdome', 'Hellsound', 'Earthquake', 'Heroes Of Hardcore', and the list goes on and on. But these were the well known ones. They also tried to release new concepts, which failed, or weren't as successful as they hoped them to be. Hardcore Resurrection was one of those. Only two albums were ever released, one in 2000 and one in 2002, but it faded away into obscurity. The logo, as seen above, would still be recognised years after its initial release, but the concept just disappeared. Maybe to revitalise the 'return' of Hardcore under the ID&T umbrella, they thought they had something that might bring back the ravers that lost faith in the leaders of the genre. Those that went to MoH for their dosage of Hardcore instead. A few events were organised under the Hardcore Resurrection name, but to no avail. Maybe it was because of the fact that true Hardcore fanatics, also known as die-hard gabbers, would not accept that it ever died. As Ross & Rachel would use in their famous show Friends, 'we were on a break'. It never died. Never. Commercialism destroyed the scene, and we were deeply upset about the direction it was going toward. We needed to take it back to its roots, and decided to not let the commercial side take it and destroy it, but let it fade into the underground scene, and let it dwell in the abyss of darkness. Let it simmer, and see what happens. If it's really worth dying, only gabbers would let it die, not the media. But DJs, producers, organisers, and fans would keep it alive. We saw value in it being revitalised, but only at our own terms. Hardcore was still ace around 2000. Hell, some of the tracks released around the Millennium were better than anything we'd heard before! It gave new and well known producers the opportunity to come up with a new style, a new sound, moving away from the commercial side of Hardcore, and for some even moving away from the happier side of Hardcore. It was needed, and the result is a genre of music that is still alive and kicking, even to this day. Hell, it could even be bigger than before? But on this Hardcore Resurrection album, what was on this album? Was it worth your euros? Was it worth your precious time? Could it bring back the fans that were left disappointed by ID&Ts decisions to go a different path? Could this bring back the love? And from that moment on it is a bit hit and miss. Some records are still going on strong on dancefloors all over the world, and some have just vanished completely. But unfortunately that was ID&Ts way of composing albums. It was never a 100% album, and by that I mean an album was perfect from start to finish. There were always shitty songs on it, and hell, even ID&T fucked up on composing the tracklists on the back of the CDs. It's like spotting the mistakes. I feel like there are errors on each album they've ever released. And by error, I mean a typo. Hardcore in 2000 was in a weird state of mind. It was trying to do new things, become new things, but it was still trying. But wasn't that a standard thing, even throughout the 90s? Compare the sound from 1993 to 1995, or 1996 to 1999, and they are completely different? Hardcore went through phases, and 2000 wasn't different either. It was trying to gain a new audience and retrieve lost respect from those that abolished the scene. I was one of those that decided to venture into other styles at the same time, but my heart still belonged to the scene. Was this album a good representation of what was going on in 2000? Yes and no. There were much better songs out there. A handful of those great songs are on this CD, but yeah, it's hit and miss. Not all are great, but some have transcended into timeless classics. But it obviously depends on your own views. You might adore this album and like each record. I do not. It's an OK album, like most albums released around that time. The concept I stood behind. And it's sad to see it never actually kicking off a new path for ravers to follow. As far as I can tell, there were 2 albums and 2 events, and that's it. What it did prove, was the fact that there's no escape from the Wizard. It is everywhere. 2000 was an OK year for Hardcore. It got better after. But this Hardcore Resurrection album didn't do much to revitalise the sound/genre/scene. It's a bit of a forgettable album. Did you ever own this album? And this year's festival is going to be a big one. With an insane and mind-blowing line-up, you will certainly have a wonderful time. But is there an other way of listening to harder styles? I don't think so. You've got the Reminder area, the Hardclassics area, RAW Classics, and Nostalgische Deuntjes area. And playing throughout this whole event you've got a few names that you might recognise: Davide Sonar, A-lusion, Max Enforcer, The Pitcher, Frontliner, Josh & Wesz, Tatanka, Trilok & Chiren, Super Marco May, Dana, Luna, Pavo, Deepack, Thera, Alpha Twins, Jason Payne, Gizmo, The Masochist, Sequence & Ominous, and more. But those names should already get you insanely hyped up for the event, right? I am not going. You know who is going? The man behind this mix: Audioholik. What he tried to do, is a) get everyone ready, and happy for Hardclassics Festival, and b) take us back to 2004. The mix contains some Dutch, Italian, and German Hardstyle anthems from this year, and some are known, and some are a tad obscure, lesser known. Around 2004 I was still an avid fan of Hardstyle, and I do remember most records selected by Audioholik. Who doesn't recognise them, and who doesn't miss this sound? It is so glorious, and yet so underrated. But thanks to events like this one, the sound is kept alive and kicking, and gets people still going on strong, on this style from the mid noughties. Bass X. I was always under the assumption that it was Scott Brown's alias. It is, but he wasn't the only one running this act. It turns out that it's led by four people, and one of them being Scott's brother, Stewart! I genuinely always thought it was Scott Brown on his own. You learn something every day! I grew up, listening to Bass X, but never discovered who was behind the name. Well, today is the day I discovered that, and also that my knowledge of Hardcore is not as wide as I thought it was. I had to go and quickly look at their history on Discogs, And they've been active since 1993, with their first release being the 'Hardcore Disco' EP, on Shoop! recordings. But from that moment onward, Bass X were everywhere. Not for long though. Their success story only lasted until the end of the decade, but their legacy continues to this day. Scott Brown kept the sound alive by releasing tracks under his own name or one of his thousand aliases, by building on what Bass X created back in the early 90s. The sound became synonymous for the Scottish sound that started to branch into the rest of Europe and the world. The Scots had this bouncier sound, a tad happier sounding view on Hardcore. Give it to the end of the 90s and the start of the Millennium for Scott Brown to become the most prolific artist in the UK Hardcore scene, but during the 90s he and his fellow colleagues dominated the Hardcore Techno/Gabber scene with the Bass X alias. I knew about their existence (not who was behind the name, which has become apparent that my knowledge is just bad beyond anything I could ever comprehend), and their songs did appear on albums I purchased throughout the 90s, but never have I found a mix with Bass X songs only, so Colin H's mix is a very pleasing one. A trip down memory lane, and one that will give us the opportunity to relive the 90s. Especially the early years. This will only enhance my knowledge, which I desperately need. This distinctive sound is so familiar, and still exciting to hear. The Scots did master the bouncy Hardcore sound, and they did it extremely well. It might sound slightly dated, but I do appreciate it a lot. In short, they don't make them like this anymore. The mix is a short one, but it packs a punch. It keeps the entertainment level quite high. And it shows how awesome Bass X were, and still are. On Facebook I see old flyers every day, stating their names on the top of the flyer, and it makes me wish I was old enough to have gone to a party during the early 90s, and maybe even witness Bass X myself. That would have been ace. 'Motherfucker' is obviously a great track, but the one for me that got me bouncing the most, has to be 'Don't Get That'. Don't know why, but it is still a great track. I'm 99% sure I have reviewed this mix before. I must have done. I've been doing this for 10-15 years, and I remember listening to this mix, but I can't find the review anywhere. Maybe it's lost? Maybe it was on my old website, but I do remember this mix. But who cares about the review, it's all about the mix. And if you've seen or heard this one before, you know it's done by Negative A, which I associate with Hardcore Techno/Gabber music, but he does so much more. He's used many aliases over the years, but he's been an influence in the Hardcore scene. But don't let that scare you off. Please, don't. Just focus on the mix he made 5 years ago, which already got raving reviews on his Soundcloud channel. It's filled with Old School anthems, from around the beginning of the 90s. Techno, House, Acid Industrial, you name it: it's in here. And it's the music I grew up with. I was still a young kid, not knowing the importance of this new style of dance music, but I knew it made me move. And sitting with a big ass headset on in our living room, listening to these on CD and vinyl, nothing could make me happier. I'm now 39 years old, and I'm still in love with the music from 1990 to 1993. The music that shaped the future. This is what dominated the underground scene and dancefloors all over the world, and slowly (and surely) it started to become bigger, better, and bolder. It was already rough and tough, but it grew into this wonderful thing. I obviously know Hardcore Techno well enough to determine this kind of music being at the base of it all. And Negative A even put in a Hardcore anthem that some might consider to be the first one ever made! In most reviews I talk about how eager I am to go back in time, but after re-discovering this mix a few days ago, I felt the urge so badly. Nothing, and I do mean it, can beat the early 90s sound. It's so brutal, so ugly, but so beautiful. If I could, I would relive the 90s again, but this time as a late teenager, being able to experience everything most adults did do during the early 90s. It's about the selection of tracks, and they are glamorous! If you want to be transported back in time within a few seconds, press play on this mix. So many classics are in here, it's going to blow your mind away! Proper old skool feels throughout, and very carefully mixed together. It's a blend that works well. An absolute fantastic job by Negative A, and for that he gets a positive B! Some of these tracks you would have heard before, especially on those compilations that commemorated the early 90s, but some were so obscure, you would only find them in mixes like this one. And some are seriously underrated, which is a pity. Not deserved, in my honest opinion. There are so many amazing songs in here, which have stood the test of time, and still deserve it to be played wherever, whenever. Not just in a mix, but at events where they play old skool music. We need more of these mixes in our lives. This is seriously one epic mix, and probably the best early 90s focussed mix ever made. And yes, a statement you weren't expecting, but this mix embraces everything I love about the early 90s. The music was so damn good. And Negative A has made a mix so damn good, it's just breathtakingly beautiful. It's like he went into my head, had a look around, and knew exactly what it is I liked. And when Equitek's 'Stylus Flight' kicked in... boy, did I loose my freaking mind!? Yes, I did. Speakers on max, and I let myself go completely. 41 records I all adore and love, and hope will all get the recognition they deserve. They've given us the music we listen to today, and have become classics that outshine most dance tunes made in 2023. Quality over quantity, that's what they did back in the 90s. Driving in my car does give me plenty of opportunities to scroll through Soundcloud and Mixcloud to find hidden gems. Of course for UK Hardcore/Happy Hardcore the place to be has got to be The History Of Happy Hardcore channel on Soundcloud! And they uploaded a CD from 2008, which I nearly forgot about completely! Hardcore Til I Die, does that ring a bell? This was the only CD of the compilation series I bought. They did 2 follow up mix albums, but I never got round to buy them. Maybe I'm not that Hardcore enough? (or my wallet isn't filled with thousand pound notes?). Whatever the reason, it remained the only one. And it packed a punch! Bloody Nora, this was so sick when I listened to this for the first time. Blew my mind away! This was released during UK Hardcore's golden years. I'm not having a go at the present day Hardcore sound, but it's so damn different. You cannot beat the sound coming from those labels that ran the mid 2000s to late 2000s. Early 10s it all changed. The first one was mixed by Re-Con, and he used a lot of his own productions (so did Squad-E), and I get this 'Clubland' vibe from the records. Happy and cheerful, and a bit Clubland-ish. Lot of melodies, and vocals. Especially the record he made with Gammer. Bloody hell, can't stop singing (or skip this record), it's just that good! The next disc was mixed by Squad-E, and he starts off with a banger. His mix contains the most appealing records to me, especially Cascada's song, Sy & Unknown's mega record, but it's the one he did with MC Whizzkid that destroys you completely. I get the 'after sex' feeling with this record when its done. Delighted, that's the word I was looking for. The last disc is just the classics. HTiD's finest records (up to 2008). And what's not to like? Clear Vu, Apollo, Paradise, N-Trance, Hixxy, etc. This CD is fire. I can only give Squad-E, Re-Con, and HTiD credit for this mindblowing album. Memory lane? J.O.E. Good old Joe. The channel on Soundcloud that never disappoints. A new mix was uploaded less than 24 hours ago, and I'm already all over it. I do love Gabber/Hardcore Techno, and grew up listening to it, and it's amazing to think that this kind of music is still kept alive. Still sounding awesome and really dope. It's a sound that we all love, appreciate, and wish never would go away. The 90s were simply the best, and the revival of Gabber from that decade is just simply amazing. The more mixes I find, the more hope I gain, with this music remaining as vital and as important as it was during the most important decade of our lives. So what can we expect from today's mix? The same as the other mixes I listened to. New Gabber/Hardcore Techno anthems, but all made in the present decade. And some of the names you might recognise. Unless you are a full on 20s Gabber fanatic and known them all! I'm still new to this scene, so I'm still discovering new names that are getting my attention and recognition. And in general, they are awesome for keeping it all alive and kicking. Hearing the first tune start, it immediately takes me back to the 90s. It's funny when you actually think about it. How can a new song take you back, in less than a micro second, to the 90s, without it ever being made in the 90s, or released? It's the sound that you hear, that is so distinctively 90s. Freestyle is still a fairly 'new' concept to me, and not been ventured too much into the world we know as Freestyle, but it's an exciting concept. And very interesting. Obviously you've seen a few reviews over the years passing by, where I was talking about Freestyle, and it is still going strong, so there must be a huge following, supporting the scene, right? I've not been to a rave where they play Freestyle, nor have I been to a Pussy Lounge event, so I wouldn't know. There's a few videos on YouTube, but that's all. But I'm guessing it's still going strong, right? Since I was a teenager, I've been listening to music that didn't fit the bill. So Freestyle is a style of music that I can listen to, and understand why people keep it alive and kicking. I just don't listen to it very often, and it could be because of the stupid algorithm on Soundcloud and YouTube. Maybe once every few months. But when it does appear on my timeline, I do absorb it like a sponge. One of those DJs that I follow, is Hardstomper. His Thunderdome Revolution 2022 mix was the first one I spotted, and much appreciated. It unfortunately isn't on Soundcloud anymore, which is a pity, but hearing that mix made me realise that I am well into this kind of music. The mashup songs did contain a few songs I've not heard in a while. And some of these refixes too. And there's also a few new tracks in here. It's a mashup of everything Hardstomper could find. And that's really interesting to hear. I am just not a fan of songs that have Boogshe in it. Her voice does not suit me, and I find Paul Elstak's song extremely boring. Really not my cup of tea. Who remembers this CD? Who ever had this CD? Who bought the magazine 'Fast Car' just for this CD? Unfortunately, it wasn't a magazine that was released where I used to live (or maybe it did, but I just never purchased it). But it was 2001, so a few years away from when I actually got my license and car, and before I started 'tuning/modifying' the vehicle (I put that like that, because I was modifying on a tight budget, so it was cheap as chips). But I do remember buying magazines myself that had singles and full length CDs in them. Unfortunately not this one, which would have been a nice added CD to my collection. Red Alert and Mike Slammer. Two names I do know, and appreciate. But I don't know much about them to paint a picture here. I do know of their existence and their records, but that's all. I've had a quick look on their Discogs page, and the latest added bit was in 2021, a track which was released on Slammin' Vinyl. Don't know if they are still active, or what they even do as of now. Their records have appeared on many oldskool compilations and mixes, but yeah, that's all I know. So if you do have some more information, please share. Always eager to learn, and I find these things interesting. They released so many awesome records, and 16 of them appeared in this special 'free' CD, which came with Fast Car Magazine volume 185, June 2001. The CD was an hour long, but 16 amazing records did fill the hour. And today is the day I found this mix, and I'm a happier person for finding it. The records are seriously insane, bonkers, and timeless masterpieces! If you are old enough, you might even recognise them all, and it might bring a tear to your eyes! Why did no one notify me of its existence? This is really a wicked CD, and to imagine that this came free with a magazine. This is such a masterpiece. This define a long lost generation, a sound that doesn't exist anymore. Over the years I have been blessed to hear music from the 90s, and have been to a few parties, and have purchased many compilations, but today I'm going to make a statement that might raise some eyebrows. But Mike Slammer & Red Alert, they are certainly in my top three of favourite duos of all time. Their music is just too damn good, and as 'old' as these tunes might be, they still work well on dancefloors all over the UK and the world. Their music has stood the test of time extremely well. And this CD is proof of how awesome their music was. The disc might be 22 years old, it still sound fresh. Worth to be played in your car, or at home, with the volume on max. I really loved this CD, and the channel that uploaded this onto Soundcloud, thanks for doing so. I only wish I was old enough to have raved in the UK when this shit was fresh and extremely hot, and I wish I actually bought this magazine. That would have worked well with my first car's sound system, which in the end blew the rear window to a billion pieces. All tracks are awesome. Can't pick one. All 16 are freakishly good! Neophyte. A name most of you ravers know of. Especially when you grew up during the 90s, and had the opportunity to go to raves and/or buy albums that contained their songs. If you are too young to know, that's cool, but here's an interesting fact: Neophyte is a group, formed in 1992, that contains three members. But there's also a standalone act called DJ Neophyte, which is Jeroen Streunding on his own. The group itself went through some changes through the 90s, but still going strong. But during the 90s, they weren't just going strong, they were on top of the world! Literally everywhere they were. You couldn't walk down a Dutch street without seeing a bomber jacket with their famous logo on it. You had your ID&T Wizard logo ones, RTC, and you had your Neophyte gang. They were everywhere! As a young lad, I only got into Hardcore when it was on the up. The year in question was 1993. I was too damn young, but I knew of its importance. Hardcore was going to be the main genre of music I would adore, and during the 90s, you could not buy an album, go to a club or a rave without hearing Neophyte songs. I could only attend raves from 1998 onward due to my age (I was still a wee lad), but even at my first rave, Neophyte took it to the next level, with their foam cannons. I think I was still finding foam days after Mysteryland 1998 Outdoor. I was a fan of Neophyte. Not a big fan, and I don't think my parents would allow me to wear a Neophyte shirt or bomber jacket. Hardcore was banned from our house, that's for sure. But it might have been banned, but I was still listening to all the CDs money could buy. And all of them contained Neophyte songs. Their distinctive sound appealed to me, and made me slightly happier. I think my first introduction was hearing 'Mikey' on a Thunderdome CD. That was in 1993. They kept on pushing boundaries as Neophyte or their alter egos Bodylotion or Masters of Ceremony, and their records have remained fan favourites. They've been in the game for 30 years now, so to celebrate their existence, The Finnishing Dutch made this mix, dedicated to the 90s. The years when they grew from a group to a super group that everyone wanted to see and hear. One hour and 44 minutes of Neophyte madness, who doesn't want to experience that? The Finnishing Dutch's mix contains a shit ton of oldskool classics. So many memories, so many happy memories. And a true showcase of how Neophyte dominated during the 90s. They were everywhere, and were here to stay! They certainly weren't going away after them forming in 1992. But deep down inside we knew, we certainly knew. Neophyte wasn't going to be a one-hit wonder. So many great records were made by Neophyte, be it on his own, or as part of a group, or even as collaborations with other artists, such as The Stunned Guys, Attic & Stylzz, and more. Neophyte was, and still is, the top dog! And I'm lucky to have witnessed them on multiple occasions, like at Raving Nightmare, The Peppermill, and of course Mysteryland. Don't know, but they might have been at the Eclipse in Landgraaf back in the day. Neophyte did have a distinctive sound, which suited me well. And even in 2023, it is amazing to hear these tracks being played out loud. I am still in awe of what they did back in the day, and their 90s stuff is truly amazing. Would I prefer this over their Millennium tracks? Any day! Give me the old stuff any day. Just look at the tracks. Can't beat quality. One track that stood out was 'Fuck Martina'. My class mates always sang the lyrics, but instead of Martina, it was Martin. Fuck Martin. Thanks Neophyte. I do love the records, but the one that stands out the most, which has become a timeless classic, and a phrase used by millions of ravers all over the world: 'Hardcore To Da Bone'. I've been silent for nearly a week, and this morning I wanted to make a start, but then I was distracted. Yes, it can happen, but it happened because of the mix you are about to listen to. A mix so damn good, it make a trip to Ikea worthwhile, and made me go the extra mile today. Why, you might be asking yourself? Well, it's a mix that takes me back to my childhood. 2001. That's 22 years ago, and as I'm nearly 40 this year, I was 18 when it happened, and the world was so damn cool. The music was so different and exciting, and Carbs' mix just took me by surprise, and gave me enough energy to completely forget to write something about this mix... The power of music, eh? Don't underestimate it. It can be so powerful, it might even be more powerful than religion! To me it's life. I wake up with music, and throughout the day I've got music on. Hell, if my wife would let me, I'd have it on throughout the night. Well, only sensible music throughout the night: I'm not a complete toss pot and would like to sleep too. No Hardcore or anything rougher. But maybe Trance throughout the night could work? So why am I excited to talk about this mix? And why has this mix dominated my day? Well, it's because of the music. The harder stuff. We are talking Hard Trance/Hard House/Hard Dance from 2001. I was in love with the harder sound. But don't forget: I'm a music lover, so I did appreciate the 'normal/slower' Trance too. I could listen to these songs during the early 2000nd, and would dance the night away. Closed my eyes, raised my hands in the air as high as I could, and stomped my feet as hard as I could. What a blissful couple of years. Now I'm older and the more I stomp, the more my body starts to make weird noises. Cracking everywhere, even in places I didn't expect. But for as long as my body will allow me, I will dance. So many wicked Hard Trance/Hard House/Hard Dance anthems in here. They were the dopest songs to hear in a club or at a rave. And I do remember dancing to these anthems in dodgy underground clubs, and at big events. Blisters galore, but it was all worth it. They had a distinctive sound to it, that characterised them. And it makes them also sound dated, compared to the present day Trance scene. Nothing sound the same anymore. Nothing sounds like the good ol' days anymore. Which I genuinely dislike. Why can't we have anthems anymore that sound as dope as the tracks used by CARBS? Why did we move forward, and not stayed in this glorious decade? Come on, who dislikes the harder sounding Trance music? I am in awe of this mix. The memories it brought back gave me enough energy to put bits together, and now a Billy is looking at us in its full gaze in the living room. And for once I've done it correctly. I needed that energy, and this mix gave it to me. 2 hours will certainly fly by, especially when you hear 'This Is My Sound'. At the beginning of this month I reviewed a mix made by Sam Garlick. His mix was focussed on one producer, who goes by the name of Signum. Today's mix is also made by Sam, but the focus this time isn't on one artist, but just classic anthems that we all grew up with, and still dance to today. Of course the focus is on Trance by the way, if you haven't noticed it yet. The freaking title of this mix is 'Trance Classics Party Mix'. So, if you are about to have a party soon, why not let this be the mix that entertains your guests? This mix is nearly 2 hours long. and it takes you back in time. Seriously, it does. I now feel 10-20 years younger, a bit wiser, and more vital. I can dance for hours without bones or muscles hurting, and I can stand next to those big ass speakers without my eardrums bleeding. Those were the days, but those days probably messed me up for years to come. But alas, it was worth it. His selection is great. A nice selection by a wide variety of artists. The hours will fly by, and it might give you enough energy to get you through today and the next few days, until the weekend lands again. The songs are the sound from my youth. This is exactly what I listened to when I was younger, and I can still appreciate these songs. Without the artists knowing, they have all become timeless classics. Yes, it's got the dreaded '9PM' song in here, which I don't fully understand or like (due to radio overkill), but it just blends in well. And some versions aren't as good as the original versions. But the mix is still highly enjoyable. Trust me when I say that. Not much I can add. Yeah, it's a very cool mix. Even though the temperatures have dropped a bit (roughly 10 degrees lower than yesterday) , you can still listen to this, and pretend you are at your Summer holiday destination, drinking a nice beverage. Who remembers the Clubland X-Treme Hardcore CD series? Now that's a blast from the past. I remember that I spent a lot of money, getting these CDs sent over from the UK to my local dealer (a.k.a. CD store clerk). We didn't sell them in the Netherlands, so it was a novelty to go to my store and order them. And I think I had most of them. It was a collection that I was proud of, and they were displaced in my house among the thousands of CDs I had. And I really liked the CDs. Clubland in general was releasing albums I wanted to hear, and as I was into UK Hardcore too, I had to have these CDs. The series started back in 2005, and span 8 years, until it's demise in 2013. And to this day I'm not sure why the series was left to die? It has some amazing mixes over the years, and the music was in general awesome. Yes, some songs were utter crap, but it cannot always be picture perfect, eh? But to kill it seemed a bit harsh, but yeah, the ninth instalment was the last one. It has the big players behind the mixes. You know them all, and love them all. Darren Styles, Breeze, Hixxy, and Gammer too. They were the big players in the UK Hardcore scene. Their mixes were top notch, and as cheesy as the music was, it still got people dancing. Out of all nine CDs that were released, the 8th edition and the 4th edition were my favourite ones. Yes, I did like the Dubcore sound a lot. Not many people would agree, but they can shove it! Why am I talking about Clubland X-Treme Hardcore? Well, the Soundcloud channel 'Music I Love' made several mixes, dedicated to these albums, and the most recent mix is dedicated to the second disc of the fourth CD. It's a short mix, but it's got the records you want to hear. Katie Jewels - Burning Love (Breeze Remix) M&C feat Rebecca Rudd - Magic Touch (Squad-E Remix) Micky Modelle vs Jessy - Dancing In The Dark (Breeze vs UFO Remix) Breeze & UFO feat Vikki Fee - Maybe Paradise - See The Light (Styles & Breeze Remix) Styles & Breeze - Come With Me (Unique Remix) Manian - Heaven (Breeze Remix) Breeze vs Lost Witness feat Louanne Feeney - Rise Again (Sy & Unknown Remix) Breeze & Ritmen - If I Were You (Original Mix) I told you it was short. The mix itself is only 40 minutes long, but I thought it was a good mix to end the day with. 9 records, that's all we need for now. And if that ain't enough for you, why not just blow off the dust of the physical CD, and listen to it in its entirety? But all jokes aside, this mix takes me back. 16 years old this CD is. Released in 2007. Isn't that shocking, right? 16 years old, still sounding fresh. But yeah, it brings back a lot of beautiful memories, and I feel nostalgic. I do miss the old UK Hardcore sound from 2005 until 2010. They were the best. Music I Love's mix contains only a handful of records, but they are solid. Not so much 'Heaven', as this version is a bit meh, but the rest are solid. Styles and Breeze dominated the charts, and their albums were simply the best. To start this mix with a version of Critical Mass 'Burning Love', that's dope. And it's also the best remix of the original I've ever heard. It's a solid mix. A few days ago, someone I follow on Soundcloud posted something special. I follow a lot of people on Soundcloud, and every day it's like being in a candy store: you never know what is going to presented to you. Could be something new, something reposted or favourited, or something new that is actually something old. The mix you are about to listen to, is actually 20 years old! But don't you worry: it might be a mix by Kevin Energy and Sharkey and originally released as a CD, but it is now shared by Kevin Energy himself. So no need to worry that what you are about to listen to is shared illegally. The legendary Freeform DJ and producer has given this to us, and for that we thank him! I think this was released just before I discovered the UK Hardcore and Freeform sound. I think it was maybe 2003 I discovered it, and before that, I'd never encountered Freeform music at all. Nor did I know of Kevin Energy of Sharkey. This Freeform, or as it was known as Trancecore, was something completely new to me. And I think that I only discovered it because I purchased a few UK Hardcore CDs that had a dedicated Freeform CD on it. To be honest, I was never a fan of Freeform or Trancecore when I first discovered it. Only with age did I appreciate it more, and became a fan of it. Obviously Kevin Energy, being who he was/is, became one of the names I'd follow, but also other artists such as Sharkey, A.B, Douglas, and more. And even though I prefer the newer sounding Freeform, every so often I like to go back in time and listen to this early Freeform sound. A sound that I've never delved into very much, but I should do. Hence why I was happy when I discovered this DJ mix. If you were one of those who purchased this disc, you know what's on it. Discovering these mixes on Soundcloud or any other platform always brings a smile on my face. And it was still a 'new' style as such. It was still growing into Freeform as we know it. More Hard House/Trance sounding, but still ace. Not quite there yet, compared to the present day Freeform, but you could tell it was trying to distinguish itself from these already existing styles. And Kevin Energy at the helm, you knew it was going to reach the desired outcome! I am really loving this mix, and have had it on for hours now. The last one in this mix does the most to me, 'Visions Of Infinity'. All in all, a great mix, and thanks to mr Energy for sharing it with us! And also Sharkey, for his input as well! Toward the end of last year I went onto Kevin Energy's Soundcloud channel, to find a CD mix he did many years ago, when he and his label dominated the underground Trancecore/Freeform scene. The label was called Nu Energy, and you might think that's all done and dusted, but you are wrong. The label is still going strong, according to their Discogs page. Kevin started the label in 1998, which is coincidentally 25 years ago, and has had some great releases over the years, and also a few albums. The series I'm talking about, was called 'xxx Nu Energy'. The first one was mixed by Kevin Energy, the second by him and DJ Sharkey, and the last one I could find, was mixed by Kevin again (no Sharkey). As far as I can tell, those were the only three albums in this mix series, am I right? If I'm wrong, I stand corrected. But I simply cannot be arsed to browse through their Discogs page for ages. I think there were only three albums. Not the only albums on this magnificent label, but the albums I'm talking about now. Why? Well, back in October of 2022, I reviewed the second instalment, and only now did I find the first disc on Kevin Energy's Soundcloud channel. I should have noticed it before I wrote something about the second disc, but things the way they are. The CD starts with some Hard House anthems, and transfers into some Millennium sounding Freeform/Trancecore anthems, most of them made by DJ Energy himself. And I'm under the impression now that you want to see the list? Not too difficult to type. But yeah, as mentioned before, you can see Kevin's own productions. It's a good showcase album to not only promote the label Nu Energy, but also Kevin's own records and let's not forget, DJ skills. The mix starts off a bit slower than expected, but as said on the cover, it starts with some Hard House anthems, and slowly transfers into Freeform/Trancecore anthems. The BPMs go up slowly, and this gradual change is rather pleasant. As much as I love Hard House, I wouldn't listen to it for hours on end. Slowly build it up into a different style/genre is much better, and it works. It's a solid mix, and a blast from the past. Back in 2001, when this was released, I wasn't into Freeform, or even UK Hardcore. It didn't exist, as there wasn't a huge market for it in NL. So I hardly know anything from the early years. It's all still fairly new, but I'm catching up. I'm not a huge fan, but I can appreciate the early sound. It's growing on me, but it does take some time. I would prefer the present day Freeform, but that's just me. It is still an awesome mix CD, and have to give mr Energy credit for it. A solid mix, and a throwback to the early years. We started today with a nice mix, filled with anthems by a legendary DJ called Marco V. And straight after that, we are going to the depths of Hell! Well, I wouldn't call it Hell, but most people would. They don't understand Industrial Hardcore at all, and classify it as music made by the Devil. The mix is made by Sound Abuse, so you know it's going to be hard, rough, and maybe a tad violent, but that's OK. We need a bit of power now. The weekend is about to happen, so let's jump into the weekend with something banging! The mix is to celebrate the Summer of 2023, BBQs and Industrial Hardcore. In that specific order, please. But you have to make sure that the music is the loudest. The BBQ can be on full whack (if you like your burgers and sausages to be burned to a crisp), and the weather could be 40 degrees Celsius, that's fine (but make sure you are putting lotion on the skin, don't want to be as burned as those sausages and burgers, eh?). But the madness kicked in when I heard Nukom's 'Beat Ya Ass'. My sweet Lord, I've never heard this song before, but it certainly slaps! I had to pause for a second, rewind slightly, and turn the volume to the max. My God, this is seriously an insane record, and it's a 21 year old anthem?! How come I've never heard this one before???? This is a really dope, rough, raw, and dark set. Sound Abuse brings the heat, and the set flies by without anyone knowing. Yes, 'Beat Ya Ass' made me rewind the mix multiple times, but that's just because the song is tight as fuck. And at this stage, it's my favourite anthem of this mix. Hell, maybe of the year? Toward the end of the mix it all goes a bit haywire, and it just more bouncier, harder, and even tougher. Just the right way to build up a set. Start of 'slowly' and build it up toward a satisfying end. Sound Abuse's set will certainly entertain many BBQs all over the world, unless you hate Industrial Hardcore. Marco V. Also known as Marco Verkuylen. This legendary Dutch DJ and producer has been one of my favourite producers of all time. Especially when his singles were released on ID&Ts label, that's when I started following his music. And when I heard his DJ mix for Innercity 2001 and actually witnessed him perform at this mighty event, I fell in love with his music. But he's been in my life way before the Millennium hit us, unbeknownst to me. During the Happy Hardcore years, there was one track that just made me feel so happy and energetic, and it was made by T-Marc & Vincent, and only recently did I discover that behind the name T-Marc, is the legendary DJ Marco V! What track am I referring to? Well, it's 'One Two'. Still a very awesome Happy Hardcore track, but slightly underrated in my honest opinion. But the happier side to Marco's producing life would give him some recognition, but it's when he started dabbling in the Trance scene that he started to get his name and his music out there. He was already a resident DJ at the Danssalon in Eindhoven, but when he released 'In Charge'... that's when everything changed! He was an anthem machine, making hit after hit. And his music got the dancefloors all over the world in ecstasy. I've been in awe with Marco's Millennium works. His music was so freaking ace, it kept me dancing for hours on end, or even days! And the mix you are about to listen to, contains 26 of Marco's tracks. Originals, or remixes made by him. And yes, Out Of Grace is in there too, which has been in my top 10 like forever. No radio edits, no short edits, just full/extended versions of each record. And that's the only way you can appreciate excellent music by Marco V. I grew up, listening to Marco V, and I've seen him perform too. He dominated the charts throughout the 2000nd, and I still adore his music. 'In Charge' was my first introduction, I assume. But as great as the track might be, it's 'Recovered' that still blows my mind away, even to this day. So many layers, so many levels... this is a track that deserves to be on everyone's favourite anthems list. It's beautiful! A solid mix, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. You don't need to remind me that Easter has already happened. According to Google, it took place on the 9th of April 2023. I had to Google the answer, as I'm not 100% sure when national holidays take place, or when religious events take place. My memory is bad, especially when there's no reason to celebrate it (we don't have kids, so no need to hide eggs in the garden or paint them). If you are asking yourself 'why is he talking about Easter', it's because this mix was dedicated to this year's Easter celebration. But the main focus obviously is the music in this mix, which is Disco music. Never knew Disco and Easter would go well together. But yeah, this mix is both focussed on Disco music and Easter. I didn't know there was such a huge craving for new Disco music. To me, whenever I hear the word 'Disco', I always think of the old type of Disco, not the style that is still alive and kicking. And I don't follow the present day Disco, but I certainly should do. Goozer, the man behind this mix, has made a mix that is exactly 2 hours long. Now that's impressive, but he's made those 2 hours even more interesting with some fine music. This mix was only found yesterday, but it's been on repeat. Even the wife can appreciate Nu-Disco, or whatever you might call the present day version of it. It's listening friendly. And extremely catchy too. I don't want to start dancing on the dancefloor with typical Disco clothing, but I do want to shake my shimmy and bounce my head up and down, round and round. Some of the melodies I do recognise, but the majority of songs are new to my ears. And I don't mind them. This has been on repeat for hours now, and I'm relaxed as f*ck. Enjoying life, with a bit of Disco in the background. A bit of the old, mixed in with the new. This blends in well with the current weather we are having: it's nice and hot, and real Summer vibes I am feeling throughout this mix. Not Easter vibes, but more Summer vibes. I might check out Goozer's page to see if he's got a Summer mix. All the songs are solid. This was a very pleasant experience. 2 hours I am happy to have spent, listening to this mix. Best record? A couple of weeks ago I reviewed an album released in 1996 by Charly Lownoise and Mental Theo, which was called 'Rave Parade 5'. You know I love myself a bit of cheesy Happy Hardcore, and I really liked the album. It wasn't the best Happy Hardcore compilation ever, but it is one that you have to acknowledge. The same rules apply to this album. It was compiled by the biggest duo in the Happy Hardcore scene, and released on Polydor's label back in 1995. Yes, probably the biggest year for Happy Hardcore, or was that 1996? I got reminded that there was another volume out there I should have checked out. It's nice listening to the fifth edition, but what about the fourth? I'm a user of a Dutch website called Partyflock, and a avid user since 2007. 15/16 years ago I met fellow UK Hardcore fanatics, and our love for the happier side of life remains intact until this day. His user name is 'Love Is The Answer', and he was the one that asked me to do a review on this album. Well, dear sir, this one is for you! He knows I love a bit of cheese. And this CD certainly contains that. It is happy though, so please keep your negative feedback to yourself: only happy people comments here. But does that mean it's all good and all is hunky dory? Well, only one way to find out. This CD compilation contains 2 discs with not just Happy Hardcore anthems, but also a few Gabber, Hardcore, and Hard Trance anthems. It's diverse, but the main focus is obviously Happy Hardcore. Well, you know that Charly and Theo couldn't just compose a disc without the main focus being the one style that made them a few pennies! There are plenty of obscure and underground Happy Hardcore anthems you don't hear anywhere anymore. It's like they are buried under some kind of spell. We should embrace these records more and more. A bit bored by all the Paul Elstak anthems, we need these records more than ever before! Revive the sound, bring back the proper oldskool Happy Hardcore anthems. I do love the diversity of these CDs. It's got literally everything on 2 discs, and it would have been great, listening to these in your car. Not many people would have build in CD players, so they would use cassette tapes with a cord coming out of it, connecting it to a portal CD player. What a kerfuffle compared to the present day. It was so much hassle, and I'm glad we moved away from the old days. But I do miss holding a disc in my hand though. It is a nice compilation. I thought it would go to the 5 stars, but then the second disc started with such a horrible record. My God, thought I' heard it all. What a horrible record, 'Scotland Is Rockin'. Scotland is rocking, but not because of that track. Please bury that one, right NOW. I do love myself a bit of T-Marc featuring Vincent. I wonder what happened to them. Oh wait, fuck yeah, I just figured out who T-Marc is... it's bloody Marco V!!! That's an eye opener. What is also an eye opener is which 2 tracks are my favourite ones: - Highlander - Ruffneck - DJ XD - Hell Yeah A nice disc, and it truly brings out the nostalgia factor a lot. Don't think you can buy these albums anymore anywhere. If you did ever own these, consider yourself lucky. They don't make music like they made it back in 1995 anymore... But fuck me. 'Scotland Is Rockin' is poor. Extremely poor. Wouldn't even consider it a worthwile song. A song I would listen to at a rave, and immediately decide to go for a piss/shit/smoke. And the Outhere Brothers song is another forgettable song. A mix by DASH_STODD which contains some excellent UK Hardcore/Happy Hardcore anthems from the 90s. The 90s were so damn good. And during the 90s I was a full on Hardcore fanatic. A raver. A gabber. But I did love everything about Hardcore, and every subgenre was appreciated by yours truly. Especially the happier side of life. Maybe it's because deep down inside I'm a happy chap? I do love Happy Hardcore, and today's mix contains a nice variety of both European and British Hardcore/Happy Hardcore. It cropped up on my timeline, and now I'm listening to it. I'm not sure who's behind the mix, but the main focus should be the mix itself. Even though I would consider myself a connoisseur of the happier side of Hardcore, there are still a few tracks in here I've not heard before. The majority are known anthems, don't get me wrong, but there's a few I don't know. Oh, interesting! They would appear on some compilations, but it was mainly continental Europe that dominated on the CDs. The UK side would only be proper discovered by yours truly around 2003, and 20 years later I'm still discovering new 'old' music. It's a nice mix. Not sure if these are digital records or not. The quality goes up and down a bit, so it could be that this is a vinyl mix only. No cracking noises, thank f*ck for that, but yeah, it goes up and down slightly. Come on, can anyone find a better tune in this mix? It has to be one of two: 'Power Of Love' or 'Raver's Groove'. They are classics, without a shadow of a doubt. Not a fan of 'Hardcore Vibes'. It is just meh. But all in all a cool mix, one that will enlighten your nostalgia enthusiasm again, and it will make you want to go back to the 90s! Next week is going to be a good weekend for Trance lovers. They all come together in Zandvoort, at Beachclub Bernies, in the Netherlands, for 4 days of Luminosity. This event series started back in 2007, and has been providing Trance lovers with awesome events, and the 2023 edition certainly looks amazing, looking at the line-up. Markus Schulz, Paul van Dyk, Bryan Kearney, Aly & Fila, Ferry Corsten, Guiseppe Ottaviani, John O'Callaghan, Key 4050, and those are just the names at the top of the flyer! Hopefully the weather remains nice and sunny. And if it remains awesome, those that are going, will have a wonderful time. The line-up is seriously insane. Anyone who's something in the Trance scene is playing there. But it is still a few days away, so to get you all ready for this epic event, I found this mix made by someone called Vivacity. She's part of the Trancefamily Norway, and to warm up all fans of Luminosity, she made this mix, with 19 tracks by artists playing on Thursday. Does that mean that she's only going on the Thursday? But whatever her plans are, if she's going, she is going. And I'm not, unfortunately. To those that are going, you'll have a great time. For me, I would just go to the classics area, and stay there the whole time. But I'm not going, so I've got f*ck all to say. It's already warm outside, but let's raise the temperatures to something that resembles the scorched surface of the planet Venus! (if you don't know, it's roughly 462 degrees Celsius, and that's hot!) Let's go back in time. It is something I do a lot over the years. The older I get, the more I reminisce about the decades I've left behind, and the older I do get, the more regret I have for not partying harder than I already did. I could have done so much more. And the biggest regret that I have, which was beyond my control, was the fact that I was too young when Hardcore emerged out of nowhere, back in 1991/1992. I was too damn young, and I hated being too young. Those older than me did actually rave throughout the golden years, and I only started in 1998. Yes, I was still only 14 years old, but if I'd had it my way, I would raved from 1991 until the present day. Things didn't go the way I wanted them to happen, but can't change the past. Hence why I think back a lot. On the things I did experience, and the things I sadly didn't. And today's mix is one that takes us back to 1992 to 1994. Some would say the early years of Hardcore, some would say the golden years, and some would say the end of civilization. Whatever your views are on Hardcore, it was so different and awesome: it did leave a permanent mark on the dance scene forever. It was there to stay, and even in 2023 we are still talking about it. Hell, parties are still being organised, parties where Hardcore is the driving music genre. It will never die. It might have changed slightly, but the main gist is still the same. Stomping beats, and raw sounds. If it's got a melody, that's an added bonus, but not a requirement. DJ PI's mix was shared by someone on Soundcloud, and I jumped on it once I saw it. And now I'm listening to it. 2 hours of records from 1992 to 1994. Even though I was still a nipper, I was already starting to venture in this unknown sound, and fell in love in 1993. I am in full awe of the music, but there's still plenty of songs I've not heard. I did buy as much as I could, but still not enough. The tracks are FANTASTIC, and all have a huge nostalgia factor surrounding it. I feel young again. You think the present day Hardcore is rough and tough? You're wrong! The weekend is about to start. And let's start with something very good, and I only discovered it the other day. Very grateful that I did, because it has made my day, and it's going to make my weekend even better! It seems that there's a podcast series called 'Fucked Up!', and for their ninety-second instalment of the series, they asked Steve Dekay to come up with an hour long mix. I've been a fan of Steve since his release of 'Nyctophilia' back in the day. When I heard that song for the first time, it blew me away. And it's still one of my favourite Trance anthems of all time, and that says a lot! It is quite the name to have. Don't know who came up with the name, but it's an interesting name. The name might have caught my attention initially, but then I spotted Steve's name, and I knew it was going to be a big mix. It didn't come with a tracklist, but just a very generous account holder behind this podcast series uploaded the list, so I am very grateful for them doing so. The DJ in question is a well known name in the Trance scene. This Colombian DJ and producer has been active in the scene for a few years now, and as mentioned before, my introduction was around 2017. His track blew me away, and to this day I am impressed with Steve's music. So you know exactly what happened once I spotted this mix on Soundcloud: I jumped on it, and fell in love with the music. A list was provided, but it made the mix even more interesting, and you'll know exactly why in a second! The mix is only 57 minutes long, and as 'Fucked Up!' as it might be, it has given me enough energy to get through today. The heat is making me melt, and energy less. But this mix is given me just the right amount of power. It is 57 minutes of pure bliss by this fantastic producer. All these tracks are glorious. Not a huge fan of the Safri Duo song, but I've never been a fan of it. Seen them live at Mysteryland 2001, and it was OK. But it didn't blow me away. What did blow me into a billion pieces, was Steve's song he did with Allen Watts, which was called 'Hologram'. What a beast of a track! It is up there, in my top 3 Steve Dekay songs. Nyctophilia is obviously number one, but this one is close second. Big track. Fantastic build up. But it grows, this mix does. From Trance to a bit of Techno influences. And I love it. The title of this podcast series might have been 'Fucked Up!', but it's the opposite. It isn't fucked up at all! It is one splendid mix that put a smile on my face. I've been silent for most of this week. I had a wedding last weekend, so I had to recover for a few days, but the weather has also turned. Positive for most, I'm OK with it. I do prefer the cold though. But at least I don't melt, or burn that easily. Or worst: turn red! But it is hot outside. We are sitting indoors when writing this review, and the fans are on. No time to enjoy the sunshine, but at least I'm doing something useful. And what I'm doing needs to resemble the current climate: it needs to be sunny, and relaxing. Visited a few countries over the few decades I've been on this planet. But never have I been to Ibiza. They are solid Trance anthems, and yes, timeless. They have slowly become everyone's favourite tracks of all time, and for good reasons. Would any of the artists know when they made their tracks, that they would still be listened to, praised, and loved many decades after their original release date? I really enjoyed this mix, even though I have heard these tunes a billion times at least. Biff643, whoever that might be, has made a wicked mix with the classics in them. He wasn't lying. They are the classics, and maybe in another few decades we might appreciate them less, but we aren't at that stage yet. Or they could become even bigger tracks, and are played on the radio 24/7, and even banish the standard Christmas music etc? Who knows? I am glad I grew up when I did, and it gave me the opportunity to experience the music being released, and being amazed for the first time. It is Friday, time to relax. And have I got a mix for you all today? But for now, let's go back in time, to the year of our Lord 1993, and let's be entertained by the mix made by someone called DareErickson. The year 1993 is a significant year for me. Yes, I was only 10 years old (or young, depending on how you judge age), but I slowly grew into Hardcore music. Mainly the Hardcore Techno music known in the Netherlands (or Gabber), but it paved the way for me to discover the rougher and tougher styles out there. The UK Hardcore, Jungle, Breakbeat Hardcore music would only become apparent at a later stage in my life, but without 1993, I would not have discovered it. I do love music from the year 1993. It is glorious. It is still rough and tough, but it is getting more and more polished through the years. 1993 was the year for me when music became more interesting, and the UK side of the rave spectrum is still a largely unknown bit in my musical knowledge. So whenever I spot mixes focussed on specific years, I immediately jump on it, and have to give it a go. The same applies to this mix, hence why I am talking about it now. His mix is really great, really enjoyed it. Only 54 minutes long, but it packs a punch. It makes you want to go out and rave. The heat might make it unbearable, but who cares? Glowsticks everywhere, laser lights, banging sound systems, and stroboscopes blinding you. And preferably an underground location. If that's what you are going to be doing this weekend, enjoy it as much as you can! A solid mix. The hour has flown by, and the selection might be short, but they are all powerful anthems that have stood the test of time, and have become classics. Especially when 'In Effect' kicks in. What an all time classic anthem. Yes, it's played in nearly every oldskool focussed set, but it is oh so worth it. A solid mix. Got nothing but positive vibes going through me now. The only regret I've got is the fact that I was born in 1983. Too young to have witnessed the UK Hardcore scene when it was at its peak. And I was born in the wrong country too! I am not the owner of a six pack, or swollen arms. I am not the Michelin man, but I do like to go to the gym at least once a week, just to keep myself in shape. I don't lift weights, as my shoulder is f*cked up and I've got pins in it, so I know my limitation, but what I do, is use the cross trainer instead, and it's a blessing, having a gym at work. But as I'm a music freak, I need music to keep me going through my 'work out'. And it cannot be anything soft, slow, or relaxing. My heartbeat goes up, and so should the BPMs. They shouldn't match though, because if they do, I might need to be in an ambulance. Yes, I do sometimes listen to Terror/Speedcore music, and those BPMs go through the roof. My heartbeat cannot handle those BPMs... I need something with an specific kind of kick, and a bass. Hardstyle/Rawstyle/Hardcore, those are the styles that give me the most energy. You know what I'm talking about, right? You need something coming at you through your ears at a certain BPM. It needs to be as energetic as the work out you are about to do. For some it might not work, having these hard styles in their ears, but I do prefer something violent. Suits my work out ethic: if I don't give it 200% and I'm not sweating, why even bother? And then, the other day, I found a mix by Addict, dedication to those that work out. A 50 minute long mix, with Hardstyle/Rawstyle anthems in it to keep you going, throughout a workout, or pre workout. Hell, you don't even need to do a workout: you can just enjoy it in your car, on the tube, train, or wherever you are. But if you are in a gym, it will certainly give you enough energy. My work out lasts an hour, so I don't know what to do during the last 10 minutes? The mix is a good one with some insanely powerful anthems. It starts with 'Boss' by Rooler, which in itself gives you enough power to conquer not just the gym, but the whole world! And from the first record the power can be felt throughout the 50 minutes. Some of the tracks aren't my cup of tea: they weren't as energetic as I hoped they would be. Those are mainly the Outsiders tracks. A bit boring. Give me Warface, Vertile, Rebelion, Adjuzt, etc, any day! The best track has to be The Straikerz 'The Baddest'. Such a powerful track. A nice mix. The 50 minute session will fly by without you even noticing it. Sunday has arrived, and it's time to unwind. If you went out last night, you are still recovering. If you haven't, like me, you have just woken up, and all is well. No need for paracetamol, a glass of water, and a full cooked English breakfast to give you energy to get you through today. Well, I wouldn't say no to a full cooked breakfast. Something else I wouldn't say no to, is a mix dedicated to the golden years of UK Hardcore, the 2000nd. And you've guessed it: it's yet another mix by DJ A.K. He might not know it, but his mixes are reviewed on a regular basis. He's a contributor without knowing. And for that, we thank him. I cannot count the amount of times his mixes were reviewed. His mixes are always interesting, and he plays a wide range of styles. Today's mix is all about the sound I adore: UK Hardcore from the millennium years. Around 2000 I became intoxicated with the sound, as it wasn't big in the Netherlands, and I discovered it by accident. And when I say not big, I meant non existent. When I did discover it, it was like a new world opened right in front of me. And at first, I was a bit taken back by it, but quickly did it capture me, and held me until the present day in its arms. Whenever I spot a mix on Soundcloud that is focussed on those wonderful years, I have to jump on it, and listen to it. And sometimes I am that quick: the mix has only been uploaded a few hours prior to me discovering it. The same applies to DJ A.K.'s latest mix. Only uploaded yesterday, so I'm one of the first to discover it, and listen to it. And trust me when I say, you won't be disappointed. When I looked at the list an hour ago, I knew I was going to love this mix. It is filled with excellent tunes, and A.K. knows exactly what the listeners want to hear. This has been an hour and 20 minutes of throwback tracks, filled with a lot of memories. This brings back a lot of memories for me. Discovering UK Hardcore is probably one of the best things in life for me. And the other fellow Dutchman (and woman) have missed out on an amazing style. It is so underrated. There are so many classics in here, but I have to go with the opening record. 'Future Set' by Breeze and Styles. They were the golden duo during the golden years of UK Hardcore. 1994/1995. That's nearly 30 years ago! Can you believe it? I certainly can't. Time does fly by too damn quickly. It only feels like it was a handful of years ago, not nearly three decades. And some haven't left the 90s at all. They still keep on focussing on music released in the 90s. Do I consider ANDY PAV to be one of them? Well, when it comes to his mixes, I can only see 90s focussed Hardcore/Happy Hardcore/Breakbeat mixes. But is that a bad thing? Absolutely not! I wish I could go back in time, to the golden years of Breakbeat Hardcore/Happy Hardcore. I'm not gifted with the power of time travel, and the only thing I can do is reminisce, and listen to mixes made by people such as ANDY PAV. His latest mix focusses on the years 1994 and 1995, and the tracks are all Breakbeat Hardcore / Happy Hardcore anthems from those years. As I fell in love with Happy Hardcore around 1994, it is nice to see these tracks again. Some I've completely forgotten about, and some I do remember, and maybe even play every so often. The tracks are all wicked, and it's been carefully mixed together. They all blend in nicely, and the hour has flown by. From starting the day with a Hardstyle mix, to a Trance mix, to a Breakbeat Hardcore/Happy Hardcore mix. Life is great right now, and the tunes are amazing too! I do love the Breakbeat sound in Happy Hardcore anthems. And the tracks mixed together by ANDY are all solid! Especially DJ Pooch's 'Feeling This Way'. Love that track. Yeah, 'Six Days' is also a wicked track, but it is in nearly every mix. So I'll give credit to Pooch for his wicked anthem! A solid mix to get us through the weekend. Signum. Ever heard of this name? You must have, as a) you are reading this review and b) who doesn't know his name? This well known and much loved Dutch Trance producer shot to fame back in the late 90s, and is still very strong in the scene. For most people, they became aware of Signum's importance back in the 90s, when two of the biggest dance tunes ever were released: 'What Ya Got For Me' and 'Coming On Strong'. Those were certainly the two tracks that made me aware of Signum and the power he has as a producer. Those tracks are certainly dancefloor smashers, even 24-25 years since their release. They are literally everywhere. Name an event, and my guess is that these two tracks are played at least once. They are timeless classics, but certainly not the only tracks Signum has ever made. Hell, his discography is quite impressive, and after finding this appreciation/tribute mix, it has shown me that Signum's biggest tracks aren't the only records that have stood the test of time. Someone by the name of Sam Garlick has made this tribute mix, to show his appreciation for Signum's music. I've been following Sam for a while now, and have listened to previous mixes he has done, but I thought the most recent mix deserves a review. Or maybe I was too damn lazy to do it for any of the other mixes he has done. And he's done a few you might be interested in. For now, let's focus on Signum's records used in this mix. Sam's mix contains the finest Signum tracks, and it's a solid appreciation mix, showcasing his love for the producer we all know, and admire: Signum. Even though it's got the most overrated Trance anthem in this mix (be it a remix by Signum), it is still a solid mix. The track I'm talking about is '9PM (Till I Come)'. I truly dislike this record. Radio overkill, that's the root cause of it all. I am really loving the vibes that come at me through my speakers. The records are all solid (beside 9PM, just can't stand that record), and it takes me back to the golden years of Trance music. Especially my favourite record in this mix, which isn't 'Coming On Strong' or 'What Ya Got For Me'. It is... drum roll... 'Second Wave'. Saturday has emerged! Party time! The sun is coming out, and the weather is looking good! Some of you lot might be going out tonight. If you do so, do it safely, but enjoy yourself. And to get yourself ready for the night ahead, why not listen to something I found the other day, something hard and rough. Something you might appreciate. A classics battle between 4 of the hottest Hardstyle producers out there: Noisecontrollers, Frontliner, Wildstylez, and Headhunterz. Another mix made by Revokez. Only a handful of days ago did I review his Headhunterz mix, and I was eager to hear more, and a quick look on his Soundcloud channel led me to this mix. They dominated my life throughout the Millennium years. You couldn't buy an album/mix CD without them being on it. These Dutch producers did everything right, and got the attention of the growing Hardstyle scene. Their style was unique, refreshing, and definitely something we needed to hear. I'm not saying this because I am biased (I am Dutch), but the Dutch had the skills to make Hardstyle one of the biggest styles in the world, and their music reflected that. Revokez is a bit like me: he loves the classics. Those were the tunes I grew up with, and adored. And still do to this day, if I'm brutally honest. I do love the present day Hardstyle, but nothing can compete with the 'early' stuff. And if I'm being picky, once Hardstyle got rid of the constant reverse bass, that's when I fell in love with it more. Is it the baldness that made these artists great? Is that a trend? Looking at the images above, it seemed to be that way? All jokes aside, I do adore the tunes released between 2007 and 2013. To me, and that's personal, those were the best years for Hardstyle. They are still around, but still, those few extra pennies a month I spent in there... You all know these classics. You grew up listening to them. Can't believe it's been so many years since they were initially released. Time does fly by when you are having fun, right? Even though they all share the same country of origin, and the same barber, their music does have only one thing in common: it is extremely melodic. But that's where the comparison ends. Their music might have fallen under the Hardstyle umbrella, but they still made each of their records sound unique. Yes, you can tell when a song is made by one of these producers, but that's a good thing. Same barber doesn't mean same sound. Friday, the day to officially unwind. We've had a busy week, and we've got a new weekend to experience within a few hours. But there's a few hours left for us to get through. Let's get through it together, and let's amp up the BPMs with this liveset by DJ Cyrax, recorded at the latest edition of Sinistry. Only held last week, so it's hot of the press. So hot, I was one of the first people to check this set out. And with Cyrax you never know what he's going to do. But with this set he brings the heat, that's for sure! The line-up looked tremendous: Zatox, Kutski, Renegade System, MKN, Jester & Kohl, Systembreaker, Hixxy, Sharkey, Kevin Energy, Fracus & Darwin, Sc@r, and many more. An impressive line-up. Normally I would say that I'm gutted that I missed the event and that I had no reason not to go, but in this instance, I had a reason. I'm more of a reserved Freeform fanatic, and always talk about the past, and how good it was. The new sound has got a lot of other influences too, especially the gabber sound. It is something different, something new, and I'm still getting my head around it. This Psycore is just too damn fresh for me... Hence why you can imagine my favourite track is the track made by Gammer. 'The Power Within'. Oldskool vibes galore! A nice set, and definitely one you should have witnessed. It is Friday, time for us to unwind. It's been a stressful week, hasn't it? A lot of things happened this week, and for me personally a lot of things are on my plate. I'm doing so much work: for once I am happy that the weekend emerged quicker than expected. But before the weekend arrives, we still have the Friday to go through. And I've found something that will take us into this mellow zone, one you will certainly appreciate! I am not an expert on UKG. I do love it though. Been loving it for a few decades now. Turns out, one of the first big events I went to, had a UKG area, and that was basically my first introduction to it. From then I've been hooked to the sound, but I'm more of an oldschool kind of guy. The earlier, the better. And most times that's the kind of music you hear on the radio. Not a lot of focus goes to the present day UKG scene, which is still out there. With mixes like the one you are about to listen to, you get a glimpse into the world of UKG as it is nowadays. And as much as I would like to follow the current scene, I just don't have the time to do so. Hence why I mentioned that I'm not an expert: I don't know who's who in the current scene, the music, what is hot and what isn't, etc. Mixes like this one, made by Paul French, will show me what is hot. This does give me a different kind of energy: one that will drain my body of negativity, and fills it with positivity. And I love it. When you start listening to a mix with an open mind and the mix surprises you, that's when you know you've got something solid, Something special going on. This has been an hour and 40 minutes of pure pleasure. I've not heard of Paul French before, but his mix is truly dope. Nice and relaxing. Very melodic. And staying true to the oldschool sound from back in the day. Best record? 'Get Down'. So freaking cool! From a 5 1/2 hour long Trance mix to some Hardcore. How in one morning the music coming at me through my speakers might change. And it is a well deserved change: I need something hard, rough, and most of all, something different. And the mix you are about to listen to, on it's own merit, isn't that different, but the records in it are. I'll explain in a bit. But for now, let's talk a bit about the DJ behind this mix: DJ Ad. A name I've seen on many occasions and in many mixes, but never actually heard mix himself. This German DJ and producer has been very active in the Hardcore/Gabber scene for a few years now, and has build up this reputation for awesome music. And now it's time for me to hear this latest mix, which he did for a channel called Gabber Industries Berlin. Not much is known about DJ Ad. As mentioned, I've seen his tracks in many mixes, but didn't even know he was German! His ethnicity isn't really important here, it is what he does as a producer, that's more important. And what he does is glorious! He and a few others are keeping the 90s Hardcore/Gabber sound alive, in 2023! And I admire everyone that does that. It's a niche market, granted, but there are still thousands of ravers out there that miss the 90s sound, and would sell a leg just to relive the past with some new and exciting tunes. Hence why DJ Ad is so important. He makes music that resembles the 90s so much, and has got this distinctive sound to it, one that can be contributed to the 90s. I can count on one hand the amount of producers that are keeping the old sound alive, and I feel we should cherish those producers that do. Well, as long as they do a good job, and DJ Ad seems to have mastered the sound, and made it his own. This promo mix for both Gabber Industries Berlin and DJ Ad is to highlight the potential of DJ Ad and how awesome his music is. But which records did he select for this mix? And it made me happier to hear these tracks. It means that I have been pleasantly surprised from the start to the end. Not saying that I hate mixes that contains tracks that I know, but when it's Hardcore/Gabber music and it's ALL new tracks that I've not heard of before, and they resemble a sound long gone, that makes me happier than ever before. There are sounds in each record that a die-hard Gabber would know. They were used in other records, but DJ Ad took those sounds, gave it a spin, and made records so fresh, so unique, so energetic. That's the word I was looking for: energetic. I am sitting here, waving my hands in the air, bopping my head up and down, and my feet are stomping on the ground. The track that did the most damage to me, was 'F.M.S.'. I'm not going to explain what it means, you just need to check it out, and you'll immediately know what F.M.S. stands for. This mix made me very happy, and the tracks are all solid! DJ Ad, you've gained a fan for life! Keep on pushing the old school sound, and I'll be raving like it is 1995! Awesome stuff! Let me start this review by saying that normally I don't listen to mixes that are 5 1/2 hours long. Well, I do, but never write reviews about them. My attention span is limited to a max of maybe 2 hours. And most of the time I am just doing my normal daily job, so I literally have to find an hour or two to find time to listen (if it's a day filled with TEAMS meetings, it becomes very hard, hence why I'm every so often not reviewing, because I'm just too damn busy). So these long mixes are an exception to the standard rule. But I could not let this one go by. A mix filled with 50 trance anthems? Who doesn't want to hear that? Someone contacted me via Facebook, and notified me of a few mixes he's done over the years. One of them you are about to listen to, or already have. His channel is called johnnydavison, and you can find plenty of mixes on his page. The top one has to be his Classic Trance 50 series. He's done 10 of them so far, and a special one called Classic Trance: Anthems. So plenty of music for you music lovers. But I'll stick to the first one for now. Some DJs cram in 50 records in an hour, or even in 30 minutes, but not this DJ. He took his time, and let the tracks just play out for as long as possible. No radio edits, just full tracks. And that's the reason why I jumped on this mix. I sometimes detest those radio edits. Some tracks are just ruined by their short versions. Some just need to be played for minutes on end, and never need to end. Radio edits can take away the climatic moment from a track. And there's plenty of tracks in here that need to be played for as long as the original track is. So no short edits. I detest those. Unless it is suitable (in a megamix, which this isn't). It's been 5 1/2 hours of pure bliss. I've thoroughly enjoyed myself, hearing these classics in this mix. There were also a few I've not heard before, but that didn't spoil the fun. johnnydavison's mix is a really great one. And if you've got 5 1/2 hours spare, I would suggest you to give this mix a go. Let me make one thing clear: yes, I am Dutch, and lived in the Netherlands for years, but I've not visited every single event out there! Some might be under the impression that I have, but that's not true. And one of the events I've not visited, is Pussy Lounge Festival. Pussy Lounge actually started around the Millennium, and as far as I can tell, it started back in Rotterdam. They've had many events, but I just never went. Should I have gone? Hell yes! This soft erotic event seems very appealing to me. For me, the closest I'll ever get to the event, is by listening to promo mixes or looking up live sets on YouTube. One of the latest promo mixes is for the upcoming event, held in Eindhoven on the 10th of June 2023. The mix was made by DJ Ruthless, one of the attending and performing DJs. And the line-up looks great: Jones, Pat B, Ruthless, The Pitcher, Zany, Deepack, Outsiders, The Darkraver, Cryex, Never Surrender, Korsakoff, Nosferatu, Panic, The Viper, Bass Chaserz, and many more. The mix is there to get everyone hyped up for the event. Only a few weeks away from the event, and if you purchased tickets, you will experience something truly astonishing. Something great. Hopefully the weather will be great. If the Gods are willing, the party goers will certainly have a fantastic day. He came to my attention during the forgotten Jumpstyle era, but thankfully to Freestyle, it is still kept alive and kicking. I do love the diversity of this set. It's got everything you need to feel alive. And the BPMs slowly increase throughout the mix. From the 'slower' stuff to the Hardcore anthems at the end. Solid stuff. Not every record is a success. But they were put in this mix for people's pleasure and entertainment. They are certainly entertaining, and when you hear them at a big ass event, you couldn't care less about what's in a set: as long as the set is dope in general. And that's what this mix is. The quirkiness level is high throughout this mix, and when 'Trommels' is played, you know you are about to experience madness. It's a weird track, but I love it. Enjoy Pussy Lounge everyone! I've been away for a few days. You might have noticed, no reviews for a week. And yes, I have been on a work trip to a foreign country. A country well known for a lot of things, but to me it's a country that has been dominate in the dance industry. A country that is worldly known for their waffles, their chocolates, but to me it's all about the music. If you still haven't guessed: I've been to Belgium. To Brussel, to be precise. 4 days in the capitol of Belgium, and all work related meetings. Had no time to further investigate this city and all the things it did have to offer, which was unfortunate. But not to worry: a Eurostar train is always nearby to take me back. I don't go often to Belgium, and whenever I drive to the Netherlands, I always just skip Belgium. I always just drive through, to get to my end destination. But back in the 90s and early 2000nd, I visited many Belgium clubs, and Belgian music dominated the charts. My recent trip reminded me of the good old days, and one of the names that popped up, was M.I.K.E. a.k.a. Push. He's not the only Belgian artist, but he's one of my favourite ones from this small country. His music has inspired many, and has been listed as 'timeless'. Even to this day, his music makes crowds move all over the globe. When I fully emerged myself into Trance music, Push, was a name I always followed. And absorbed. I might be Dutch, but I do have to acknowledge that it was super cool to dance the night away in Belgium, when I was young. I hold fond memories. And the music was also extremely good. And Push was certainly in the top three for me! His remixes were so damn good, but it was his own productions that blew me away. Especially the three tracks in this mix. 'The Legacy', ' Universal Nation', and 'Strange World'. Those are certainly M.I.K.E. a.k.a. Push's biggest hits. Still loved and cherished to this day by the Trance communities all over the world, and those tracks will find their way into many sets. I still adore these records, and must have heard them a million times in my life so far, but they never disappoint, or become dull. Solid as a rock, that's what this mix is. It is Sunday, time to relax. But not for me. Or those that appreciate Hardcore music. We love it when our music is 160 BPM or above. And we want life to resemble the same speed as our music. So let's dive straight into the mix, which is dedicated to the Godfather of Hardcore, Marc Acardipane. The legend. The man who's made countless Hardcore classics, that still hold their value, many years/decades after their initial release. The mix was made by Silvio Aquila, and we are now going to determine if it's a solid dedication/appreciation mix, worth getting hyped up on this glorious sunny Sunday afternoon. The man with a million aliases. It is hard to keep up if a track was made by Marc under one of his aliases, but to be fair, he's been in the game since the 80s, he's had plenty of time to come up with aliases he could use. It's nice to hear certain tracks made by a certain artist, to only find out that it's Marc behind it all. Seriously, you don't have a clue how many aliases he's got: just check out his Discogs page, and the list is there. He's been releasing music since 1989, hence why he's got the title 'Godfather of Hardcore'. Mescalinum United's 'We Have Arrived' has got to be the first official Hardcore Techno anthem, right? Yeah, he's made a few stinkers in the past too, but they aren't in this mix. Silvio's mix is certainly an interesting one. It isn't as polished as I hoped it too be. If it was more polished and sleek, I would have given this 5 out of 5 stars, An ode to the Godfather. Worth your time. Let this dominate your weekend and the upcoming week! Before you start having a pop at me, let me explain: the cover image above isn't technically speaking linked to this mix. It's taken from an old album, and it's been tweaked slightly to resemble the mix you are about to listen to. So don't you get all excited, hoping it would be a mix filled with tracks by Scott Brown, Force & Styles, Twin Terror and more. They won't appear in this mix, but what does appear in this mix, are Bouncy Techno anthems made not back in the 90s or early 2000s, but the here and now: the 20s! I do love new Hardcore that sounds like the 90s style. The music that dominated back in the 90s, revived, and it is desperately necessary. I am not saying that I've had enough of all the tunes from the 90s, but what I'm saying is that we need some new stuff that resembles the music we grew up with, danced with, and raved with until the sun emerged out of nowhere. It felt like it was left behind in the 90s, but there are still a handful of producers out there that keep this bouncy kind of Hardcore alive. The happy beats, the beautiful melodies, and sometimes the piano bits come in... boy, the happiness that surrounds these tracks is still a blissful thing to experience. Yet it still has this unique and distinctive 90s vibe. There aren't many that stay true to the sound, but those that do keep it alive, to them I say 'salute'! I do salute everyone that keeps a much missed sound alive. And J,O.E. has made yet another interesting mix, with all brand spanking new tracks, and they all sound old. Old, but not outdated! Old but fresh. Old and new. And I love it. Hardcore/Happy Hardcore/Happy Rave/Happy Gabber etc). Some of the producers in this mix have been on my radar for quite some time, and whenever they release stuff, you know it's going to be great. Artists such as DJ AD, Casketkrusher, and more. To be fair, it could all be DJ Casketkrusher, as he's got a billion aliases he uses. The happy vibes come at you from the first to the last second. And the tracks are all solid. And they have now become a very pleasant addition to my already insane music collection. And they blend in nicely with the 90s Hardcore anthems. It's like the 'death' of Hardcore never happened, and life has moved on, and Hardcore stayed the same, for all these years. The only comment, and it's a petite one, is that the recording volume goes right the fuck up around the 43/44 minute mark. I actually had to lower the volume, as I was waking up the whole neighbourhood, which isn't always the nicest thing to do! But a solid mix, nonetheless. If you are a regular to this site, you know I do love my music slightly faster, and harder. I do love everything with a decent bass, melody, and all the other bits that make a track stand out from the standard top 40 tunes. I am mainly a Hardcore Techno fanatic, but I can appreciate other styles too. And sometimes you rediscover genres you've forgot even existed, and it lights up a spark deep down inside of you. Thanks to Craig Scott, my Hardcore Breaks/Rave Breaks light has been lit, and something inside of me has arisen. And now, I am fully emerged into this largely underrated style! Craig Scott's first mix was uploaded roughly 6 months ago, and I found it by accident. I was already following his Soundcloud channel, as I fell in love with his Hardcore Techno mixes. This new series, which he called 'Hardcore Breakz', was an instant hit! Not the success it should have been, but it was a hit in my eyes. I think I've played his first mix at least 100 times. And as of right now, I am listening to it. I am so in love with the concept of this mix series, and even though it isn't new and others have done it, Craig seems to have perfected it, and only chosen the finest tracks coming out of the scene. The finest of the finest. The crème de la crème, as the French would say! Once I discovered this series, I started frantically look at Craig's page nearly every week, to see if he'd posted some new stuff. After the initial mix, it became my drug. I was an addict for Hardcore Breakz, and to this day I am hyped up to see new mixes emerge. He is my dealer, and I'm the junkie, waiting for new stuff! I became addicted, and the craving was there. I've listened to all his mixes over and over, and only a week ago did the tenth instalment emerge. And I thought I would do this series justice by not writing a review of each mix Craig has done, but a combined review of all ten mixes! Normally I am not a fan boy of anything. I don't always freak out. I've been disappointed in the past on many occasions, when you assume your 'hero' is awesome, and then you meet them, and they aren't as cool as you'd expect them to be. And I don't know Craig Scott nor have I ever met him, but his mix series does things to me. Unexpected things. Makes me feel extremely good, powerful, and energetic. He might be a very pleasant man, but it is the thing he's created I am excited about. Like a teenage girl am I sitting here, listening to his mixes. My heart skips a beat when I hear these freakishly good tunes. And I would never say in public that I'm in love with something, but today's the day: I am in love with the Hardcore Breakz mix series, made by Craig Scott! The tracks are all solid as a rock. The finest breakbeat anthems money can buy. Hardcore Breaks/Rave Breaks, give it a name, but it needs to stay true to the style. And all these records do exactly that. I get the early vibes throughout each mix. Like I am teleported back to the 90s, when Hardcore dominated the world and its Mother! These mixes are to be treasured for life, and protected. They are fyah, as some of the track titles suggest. I am sitting here, fully in awe of each mix, and they are full of energetic anthems. If I close my eyes, I am back on the dancefloor, raving the night away. Sadly not in the UK, where most of these songs dominated everything. The Netherlands had a different approach to Hardcore. But I can just picture myself at those legendary events, dancing until the sun came up. Dance like no one was watching, and no one cared. I don't want to spoil anything, but I do urge you to give this mix series a go. It is that time of year again. I am fully in awe of Headhunterz, the producer. You might have seen his name here and there. Who am I kidding? Of course you've seen his name: you've probably heard his songs a billion times! This master producer has given us so many memorable anthems over the years, and he still keeps on pushing his sound forward. You cannot have an event with Hardstyle DJs without having him play, or even when he's not available, you cannot have a set without a song made by him. He's such a prolific producer, it's beyond belief what he has done for the scene. I cannot remember the first time I heard a Headhunterz song, but whenever it happened, I am glad that it did. And I'm still loving the music he makes. But sometimes I like to go back in time, and relisting the songs he made in the past, which were also extremely successful, and probably put him in the position he's in right now, as one of the best Hardstyle producers ever. You might agree of disagree, but you have to at least acknowledge the impact his songs has had on the scene. Revokez made this mix, which is 2 1/2 hours long, and it contains a shit ton of Headhunterz songs. To be precise, 54 songs in total. And you will be experiencing a good feeling in your stomach. You will feel euphoria running through your whole body. If there's one that can make extremely euphoric tracks, it's Headhunterz. Good enough reason for me to listen to this mix. And the Summer is about to emerge, so to get ready for the party season, I need this a lot. I need to hear Headhunterz through my speakers, and I need it right now! So who's done the leg work? Not me. A) I don't have all these records and B) I don't have the patience. I'm really crap behind the decks. I'd much rather let others do the work, and Revokez's mix is just what I needed to hear. It is so cool to hear these anthems. Most of them have put a smile on my face, and put pressure on my new car's speakers. They aren't used to the thrilling madness I create when I'm driving it, so they are working extremely hard. I have to be completely honest. As good as Headhunterz is, not all tracks in this mix are solid. The first one I found a bit meh, and there's a few others too that aren't my favourite either. But opposite to that: there's at least 50 BRILLIANT records which I still adore to the bone! His own work is tremendous, and when he released songs with Kosheen's singer Sian Evans... mate, my world just shattered! But those aren't my favourite ones. Close, but not number 1. It's the more 'commercial' tracks that he remixed, which appealed to me the most. 'Lessons In Love', and 'Spectrum'. Jesus Christ, whenever I hear these songs, it's like I've landed in Heaven, and I'm embraced by the angels! These are truly the most euphoric tracks in this mix (for me). You might disagree, but that's cool! But which ones are your favourite songs? Would be interesting to find out! The mix itself is OK. It's not great, it's not bad, but it's OK. There's a few small errors here and there, and the flow isn't continuous. Revokez has made a few other mixes, and quality wise they are better. This isn't his finest work, but still highly enjoyable! Go and jump on the Headhunterz band wagon! Let's all enjoy the upcoming Summer, and let Hardstyle take over our lives! In the end, it's OUR CHURCH, isn't it? I feel so happy now. So euphoric.
