  • Happy Hardcore (2018)

Oh guys, this title is misleading. I know this has been a debate within the Hardcore scene, what to call the style, but I think it is still called UK Hardcore, and will be called this till the end of days. But it can be misleading: I was looking for some Dutch Happy Hardcore from around 1995-1996, and came across this mix. At first I was slightly disappointed, but quickly turned around. I saw the tracklist, and it make me extremely happy. You all know how much I love UK Hardcore, and this mix is jam packed with goodies from the scene. You will see what I mean in a minute. DJ DDDM has uploaded this mix about a year ago, and it contains the finest UK Hardcore anthems you can find. Ranging from the standard UK Hardcore sounds to Powerstomp (what has happened to that?), from the biggest names to the upcoming names in the scene. You will find them all in here. So if you are experiencing a boring and shite Sunday morning, you might want to give this a chance. Unless you think UK Hardcore is shite, in case I would suggest you go somewhere else right now. 01. Apollo - Dance (Re-Con Remix) 22. Flyin & Sparky feat Charm - Down To You (Joey Riot Powerstomp Remix) It's Sunday morning, the weather is ok for now (will turn absolutely hot today), and I'm doing a thousand things at the same time. You want some good anthems to get you through the day. This mix could be interesting to those UK Hardcore lovers who are looking for a 'classic' mix. You get the 'newer' classic and the old classic, and I know a lot of you out there love the older stuff more than the newer stuff. I'm one of those. Who doesn't love 'Dance' by Apollo, remixed by Re-Con, 'Super Good' by Dab Hands, remixed by Sy & Unknown, etc? It was difficult and not an easy task to select the best record, but after considering which anthems DDDM has selected, I have to select 'Taking Drugs' by Scott Brown. Probably his best record ever! There are some small mixing errors, cross fading issues. But don't let that be an issue for you (unless you are as picky as I am). All in all a good and entertaining mix. This will certainly get me through the day. • ATTLAS - Storyline 3 (2019)

Yes, yes, YES! ATTLAS' Storyline mix series is back! About a month ago, the third instalment was released. And you all know how much I love these mixes. Well, I do love everything that ATTLAS releases. Have you checked his Soundcloud page, have you experienced his musical genius mindset? He seemed to have captured this unique and different way of making music more appealing, by not only using the finest music, but also the greatest movie quotes. And boy, do they blend together! ATTLAS has this gift, and it attracks many fans from all over the world. If you go to this mix and look at the comment section, everyone reacts the same. Everyone is happy, and some even shed tears whilst listening to this. I'm close, to shed a tear, but what this mix has done to me is make me feel special yet very emotional at the same time. This mix is powerful, and so are the other mixes, which I recommend you check out too. But for now, we are focussing on the third instalment, and how great it is. His creative mindset has created this one of a kind mix series. Electronic music with music quotes, who does that? It has been a thing where it was incooperated into records, but ATTLAS does it inbeteween records, blending records with those quotes like it's no big deal. It's story telling in such a fantastic way. But what makes me feel so emotional about these mixes is the fact that the ones he has selected, are breath takingly beautiful, and calm. No screaming or shouting movie bits, but always very calm sections. All aligned with the calm and well composed EDM records. The tracklist can be found on 1001tracklists.com, but it's not complete. And I've left out the movie quotes, seeing as I'm always focussed on the music. If you want, just click here and it will take you to the specific page, on which you can find the quotes and records. Oh, and if you know the ID-less records, could you let me know, so I can update the tracklist? Much appreciated. 01. Nils Frahm - Ode 02. Ben Böhmer feat Margret - Dive 03. Ryan Davis - Obsidian 04. Electronic Dance Music with deep feelings and meaning, that's what I would hear forever and ever. I am normally focussed on the harder styles, but would prefer to hear this. I've saved ATTLAS' previous mixes as a playlist on Soundcloud, and I've played them over and over. I don't know how he does it. How does he create this mixes? He does take his time: there's always a huge gap between the Storyline mixes, and you can tell that each and every mix isn't a rushed job. A well composed and well thought of. You can hear and feel his well preserved way of mixing. And it doesn't matter what time of the days you listen to this: it will always feel good and well placed. Man, this is beautiful. Nothing I have been listening to lately can come close to the power of this mix. This is next level shit. This is truly beyond normal human's perception. Music should make you feel more empatic, but this does so much more. ATTLAS has got a God given talent. To me, he blongs to the best of the best, ever. Just listen to this really awesome mix. Let this take you on a journey into your self consciousness, and get those feels again. And just appreciate this mix like the 10.3k+ listeners already. Be part of the ATTLAS madness. • TCD Top 5 21-08-2019

We are back! Yes, we are! It's been a while, and no-one reads this anyway, but if you are, I am truly grateful that you are still interested in my personal f**ked up Top 5. It's not an official list, it's not like anything else you will find on the world wide web: this is my personal list. This list contains records I'm loving at the moment. And this week I'm going all out: Youtube AND Soundcloud links! How about that, eh? That's something else! I do find these all round the web. And seeing as I was a huge CD collector back in the late 90s and early 00s, I do reminisce. Sometimes a song just hits me, even though I'm not hearing it. I do have this craving, this urge, to hear a record. And it started with a record by Kesj & Donut. This lead up to me thinking about the hugely shite collection that was released by Mecado, the worst of the worst label ever. Scum of the Earth. Lowlife people, only focussed on making money, and in doing so, slowly destroying Hardcore. Some compilations were successful, but again, it's not the record company I supported, I supported the music. One record immediately sprung to mind: 2 Rough - I'm A Ruffneck. That's on the list. It was on one of those top 100 shit CDs. And one song lead up to the next. So this list is focussed on my youth: when I rocked the streets with my walkman CD player with unskippable protection (unskippable? my arse). I was the coolest. And this list will hopefully make you smile and take you back to when you were young. Bring back the good ol' Hardcore sound. Why has it disappeared? Fuck. 1. Flamman & Abraxas - Keep Looking, You'll Find Me (1997) 2. 2 Rough - I'm A Ruffneck (1997) 3. DJ XD - Harder Than Hell (1996) 4. Evil Force - On And On (Original Mix) (1996) 5. Cixx vs The Vinyl Junkie - My Style (Freestyle Mix) (1998) ENJOY!!!!!!

  • Bad Corey - Super Valentine's Megamix (14-02-2015)

I know. You don't need to remind me. You might be thinking that the morphine and co-codamol and antibiotics have messed up my head, and that my timeline has shifted, but I am fully aware that it's not Valentine's day, or that we are anywhere near. It's August. But what you don't understand is that every day is Valentine's day in the van Zeelandt residency. She knows it, and I know it too. We are smitten, and it might seem a bit too much, but it's the truth. Every day I wake up, I look into her beautiful eyes and know that I'm a lucky lad. And even when I was hospitalized, she was there, next to me. That's dedication. And for 10 years she's been by my side. Love is present here every day. That's why I found this mix, and have embraced it. All bullshit aside, I did find this mix by accident. I had a few records in mind I wanted to hear on Soundcloud, but they were only found in one mix, not separately. Hence why this mix came up. I'm just such a soppy person: I like my UK Hardcore to be a) happy and b) emotional. This led me to this mix, made by Bad Corey. This name seems to ring a bell, but no wedding bells to be fair. And anyway, let's focus on this mix. Bad Corey has selected only the most romantic UK Hardcore records to compose this mix. And oncee you see the tracklist you know it made sense to release this on Valentine's day back in 2015, and why the main focus is love. You know that UK Hardcore, as 'violent' as it sometimes might be, can be extremely beautiful. That's what got me hooked back in the early 00s: this happy and lovely vocals just grabbed my attention. Now it's time for the tracklist. Just make sure you get the tissues ready, and light a candly in your bedroom (or living room), and put this mix on. You will immediately lighten the room. And maybe be lucky with the other half, eh? 01. Northern Lights - Love Of My Life (Brisk 2013 Remix) 02. Brisk & Darwin feat DMO - My Heartbeat (Original Mix) 03. Eclipse feat Lisa Marie - Heart's Desire (Brisk & Vagabond Mix) 04. Cat Like Thief - It Starts With A Whisper (Nu Foundation Remix) 05. Impact & Resist - Someday (Fallon Remix) 40. Minamotoya - Into The Night (Kors K 2012 Remix) 41. Antix, Suae & Pulsar feat Renee - Hypnotized (Original Mix) 42. N-Force - The One (Radio Edit) Jeez! This mix has got so many romatic records in it, and I've got to say that it filled my heart with euphoria! And also with a lot of sadness: this sound is slowly disappearing from the UK Hardcore scene. Even though forward motion is always good, and evolution is necessary, sometimes I would like the music to remain the way it was. And that's not what is happening. Just one sidenote: you have probably noticed a lot of Fracus & Darwin records in here. I was typing this tracklist, and noticed that everything romantic gets the F&D treatment. They must be hunting down romantic records, and calling each other, saying: "you Fracus, there's a new record we can remix, shall we?". So many beautiful records, so much happiness from the HU boys. Is that the secret behind their label? Love? Anyway, this mix could have been 5 hours long. I've just realised that there are thousands of songs, all emotional and romantic! The UK Hardcore scene was thriving on this sound. Not like the Hardcore scene in Europe. So brutal and rough they might like it in Europe, so beautiful and delicate you British like to hear it. Happy and touching. I like that. There are too many great anthems in here. You can literally name each record as your favourite, and for me Clear Vu records have always been amazing, but the one that stood out from the rest, and that's simply because of the lyrics/vocalist, is 'I'm So Happy' by Ryu, remixed by Kors K. Fight me if you disagree. I won't feel a thing, still high on medication. And love. (*insert love emoji) I'm really delighted to have found this lovely mix. Maybe 4 years too late, and many months after Valentine's day, but still. This has turned a bleak day into a wonderful, rainbow filled day. Thanks Bad Corey. Really loved it! • Technikore - HTID In The Sun 2010 Promo Mix

I've been hospitalized the last couple of days, so I do apologise for not being able to keep the website up to date. A lot of things have happened, which took my time, and sadly TCD wasn't my priority. But now I'm home and feeling a bit better, I'm back at it again. And the mix you are about to check it is one you have not heard in a while. Or not heard at all. But it's one of those hidden gems: you can only find it if you look hard enough. And I did my best, and found it, somewhere hidden on the internet. I was listening to a mix on Monday, which contained a Technikore record. And instantly I remembered a mix he did many years ago (9 years ago to be precise), but I could not find it on Soundcloud. Not on Technikore/Technikal's page. Disappointed as I was, I wanted to hear this mix again, but forgot the name. I knew it was on Technikal's official website, but typing those words into Google led me nowhere. After about 30 minutes I came across the original name of the mix, and I've actually found the website, on which it was uploaded 9 years ago, and funnily enough, you can still find it there, and it's still downloadable! This website has not changed in the last 9 years, and nothing else is found on this page. Only this mix and the tracklist. Oh, and maybe a e-mail address, if you are interested in booking Technikal (if that e-mail address is still valid, I do not know). This mix has been downloaded by yours truly a billion times, and I do not know how many versions I've got stored of this mix in my UK Hardcore folder. Every so often I crave this mix, and especially Technikore's early work (just look at his youthful face! doesn't he look young?). You will feel old when you see the tracklist, and realise that these tunes are a decade old! Time has flown by so quickly! Check this out: 01. Technikore - Run Away 02. UFO & Scandal - Crazier (Technikore Remix) 17. Technikore - Extraordinary 18. Technikore - Revolution If you visit Technikore's old website, you are able to download this, and it will come in a nice zipped folder. You will get the mix and the tracklist too (don't see that happening anymore in 2019). I still can't believe that this website has not changed a single thing in 9 years. Has anyone actually visited this site during the last 9 years, or has it been forgotten? You could tell that Technikore was going to do great things, even back in 2010. Now he's an established name in the scene, but even when he emerged (and looked a bit like an emo-nerd) he captured everyone's attention, with records like the ones you will find in this mix. He has the producing bug, and this sound is oh so Technikore-ish. You can recognise his style. He has left a mark on the scene, and he keeps on pushing UK Hardcore forward. I do like that. I went on the hunt for this mix for a specific reason, and even in 2019 I'm not disappointed. No one will be, seeing as Technikore was a wicked producer in 2010. He still is, don't get me wrong. But in 2010 he blew us all away with his style. I do love this mix a lot, but I've not come across a shite Technikore mix at all to be fair. He never makes a raver's heart cry. He always puts smiles on many people's faces. He makes us happy. Thank you Technikore, thank you. A wicked mix. I've really enjoyed it. And so should you. Go and check out his 2010 website lol. A blast from the past. This is how we made websites a decade ago. • DJ Casketkrusher - The Test Crash Records Megamix (100% Vinyl) (2018)

Well, I'll be damned. Never knew that this label was run by The Prophet back in the 90s. Never even knew it existed. I do know each and every record, but that's all. It turns out this was a label back in the 90s, run by DJ The Prophet, and only existed between 1995 and 1997. It is now a defunct label, which is a shame. And it makes me wonder why he stopped running this label? He had so many great anthems on this label, which you will see in a minute, in a beautifully shapen tracklist. Just capture the late 90s. Me and my Sony Walkman, dancing in my bedroom. These tunes would be the ones I'd adore, and would listen to multiple times a day. I was a Happy Hardcore/Hardcore fanatic, and really liked The Prophet's kind of music. It was just what I needed. Obviously I'm not the only fan of his music, and as usual, DJ Casketkrusher made yet another brilliant dedication mix. This time it's filled with records released on this bonkers label. Within those 2 years so many great anthems were released, and it stopped all of a sudden. Now I'm not into politics or gossips, but I am a tad curious: if anyone knows why this label stopped back in 1997, could you leave a comment down below? I simply cannot understand why this label stopped, when it has got banging tunes under its belt. Ah hell, let's focus on the music, that's more interesting, isn't it? Here's the tracklist. Be prepared for a lot of smiles for miles. 01. Commotion - Tutti Frutti 02. The Prophet & DJ Delirium - Keep Your Body Pumpin' 03. Commotion - The Party = Mine 04. The Prophet - Housetime! 05. Creasemaster & Slamdog - Face Down 06. Creasemaster & Slamdog - Don't Stop 07. The Prophet - I Like It Loud (DJ Mix) 08. Creasemaster & Slamdog - Big Ol' Booty 09. The Controllers - I Wanna Rock You 10. Jee Beat Squad - Diss You 11. The Controllers - Testcrashin' (12" Mix) 12. Too Small - Cold Bustin 13. The Prophet & DJ Delirium - We Love To Party 14. The Prophet - Lunatic 15. Jee Beat Squad - Get New 16. The Prophet - Damn! 17. Too Small - U Gotta Give It Babe (Jawshabby Mix) 18. The Prophet - I Like It Loud (Original Mix) 1997! I'm back in 1997. Wow, I just had a flashback to the late 90s! This were the best years for Hardcore music, without a shadow of a doubt! Of course a few years later it nearly vanished due to knobheads destroying it (thanks Gabber Piet, Hakkuhbar, Reef Teef, etc), but just before this climatic ending, the music became so powerful, it has stood the test of time. That it sounds absolutely nothing like the present day Hardcore, that's understandable, but kind of sad too. Hardcore from the 90s should be preserved much better, and its memory should be kept alive, even in 2019. This label had so much potential, and yet it disappeared. A shame, but at least its legacy lives on. Thanks to Casketkrusher for mixing these 18 wicked anthems together. This is truly a trip down memory lane. This label was so good: I didn't even know it existed, yet I know each and every track. And I love them all! Thanks to Discogs I do find out who's behind certain names, such as Too Small, Jee Beat Squad, The Controllers, etc. And it's amazing that we have these kinds of tools, back in the 90s we had none. Well, we had booklets, but they were as confusing as hell! It was hard to select one favourite record: there are 18 amazing records. But when I think of this song, I think of 'Thunderdome 12', the one with the spider on the front. 'Testcrashin' ' This whole CD was epic, and is still the best one of the whole Thunderdome saga. Nonetheless, let's focus on the record: this is dark and edgy, and yet it has a slight Happy Hardcore vibe around it. That's why I love this so much. So many great anthems in here. Unbelievable mix. So happy to hear this. The train to my childhood has arrived, and I'm going aboard. Anyone else want to join me on this adventure? • Fracus & Darwin - Classic Hardcore Underground Mix (#HUTenYears) (2016)

Hardcore Underground. Who doesn't know this label? If you are unaware of this label and you do not have a clue of who's behind it, do question yourself: are you a true Hardcore raver? Or a wannabe? Many labels have been presenting UK Hardcore over the nearly three decades, but only HU has stood the test of time. Well, at least for the last 13 years. Many labels have come and gone, but HU is still going strong. Maybe even stronger than ever? It's obviously a big label. Without a shadow of a doubt, they have given the Hardcore masses everything they were craving for. And on the label they've released a lot of tunes, from the likes of Brisk, Michael Mansion, Skinny, Chwhynny, Entity, Cube::Hard, Nu Foundation, and of course the two biggest superstars: Fracus and Darwin. Of these two legends you will find a lot of tunes in this mix. But what the most distinctive thing of this mix is: you will feel euphoric from the first to the last second. This showcase mix is true to the core: Hardcore for everyone. And boy, they do deliver! So many great memories, so many great anthems. Some underrated, but all so beautiful. And well composed! Let me show you the tracklist. It will make you happy and sad at the same time: just thinking about these tunes and how 'old' they are, makes you feel old. The oldest I found was from 2006. That's 13 years ago! My God, where has the time gone to? 01. Fracus & Darwin feat Lisa Abbott - Falling Out Of Love 02. DJ DFX & Darwin - At Last 03. Fracus & Darwin - Landed 04. Fracus & Darwin - Roar 39. Wasted Penguinz - Bitterness (Fracus & Darwin Remix) This is a well deserved decade for HU, and this showcase mix is something they should be proud of: not only have they had releases from the finest artists, but also they've been keeping their heads high for the last 13 years. Can you believe that? How many labels can you name within a minute which have been around for the last 10 years? And go! (ps. you can't) They seemed to have captured the Hardcore vibe since the early days, and have kept it alive and kicking. This melodic and euphoric sound is so unique, and has tried to die over the years, but labels such as HU kept it alive. And I do not know many other labels that do stay true to the roots of Hardcore/UK Hardcore/Happy Hardcore. Hence why I really like and adore this mix! This brings a smile on my face, and also a tear. They do know how to make each and every track a successful one, and oh so beautiful. It's been a wicked decade for HU, and they will have many awesome years ahead of them. I can only give this mix a 5 out of 5. It's that good! No complaints. The whole mix is solid. Nothing wrong with them. Not one record I dislike. I truly think that in 50 years time HU will still be around and pushing Hardcore forward. And so it shall be! • Happy Hardcore Underground (Old School Mix) Bananaman & DJ Storm (2014)

Back in 2014 an album was released, and it had everyone hyped up. An all Happy Hardcore album, full of awesome classic anthems, and newer anthems. Or even classic anthems being remixed. Happy was the word that was their focus for this album, and they did not disappoint. Three discs, one unmixed, and two mixed by DJ Storm & Bananaman, DJ Vibes, and Chwhynny. What could possibly go wrong? Well, nothing, exactly. To promote this album, both Bananaman and DJ Storm (Al Storm) made this promo mix, containing the classics. And when I say classics, I do mean the classics. The reason why we all love Happy Hardcore!!! We all love to go back in time, and listen to these monster anthems. And who else should you ask to compose this mix? Bananaman and DJ Storm, they know the score. And they have done a marvellous job. This mix will make you tear up, and get them feels (as the kids would say). Proper old school vibes from the first to the last second. Sadly after the release of this album it has gone a bit quiet, the Happy Hardcore side of Hardcore Undergroud. They had some good releases, but a second instalment to this compilation has yet to emerge. I remember that, when they announced this album, people went mad. And seriously mad. Maybe it's time now to start a second instalment, HU? Let's focus on the this beautiful mix by Bananaman and DJ Storm. It will astonish you how many wicked anthems they both selected for this allround epic mix. And how many we actually know! Happy Hardcore wasn't just a phase, or something to be made fun of, it has laid the foundation for other styles to grow of, and it has got a cult following, even 20+ years later. 01. Perplexor - Da Capo (Classic Rave Mix) 02. DJ Seduction - On My Own (Slipmatt Remix) 03. Sense Of Summer - Around The World 04. Force & Styles - Harmony 05. Dougal & Mickey Skeedale - Got To Go 06. Evolve - Living The Dream This is a Happy Hardcore fanatics' wettest dream! Just looking at this tracklist makes everyone's downstairs department go moist. What a beauty, an absolute stunning mix. I've really enjoyed this nearly hour and a half long mix. This took me right back to my childhood. These tunes dominated my teenage years, and even in my mid-30s I'm still feeling the vibes. Again, I'm getting them feels. These anthems are from a long lost generation, and hearing them again just makes me smile for miles. This is impressive: other styles might still be alive and kicking, but whenever you talk about Happy Hardcore, you get a mixed response: some hated it, and some loved it. I was obviously part of this culture, and still love it to this day. And with me thousands of others. This mix has reached 39k plays already, and we should get the numbers higher and higher. DJ Storm and Bananaman's mix is just tight. I would have been disappointed if the mix was bad. But you wouldn't expect anything else from these two Happy Hardcore legends. Very good mixing skils, and the tracklist is just really ace. Best record of this mix? We had 31 to choose from, and I went for DJ Slipmatt's remix of 'Higher Love' by JDS. What a beast of an anthem. I feel like a kid immediately! That tunes (which was on Happy Hardcore volume 6 compilation by Arcade) was my favourite of all time, and still in 2019 I'm hooked to this tune. An all round epic mix. • The Purple Revolution [Stamina Records] (2019)

Does M@rt!n-J ever stop making these awesome mixes? I've impressed that he continues to upload awesome mixes on a regular basis, and it's not just one style or genre: he mixes whatever he wants to. This time he goes back to the Freeform sound, and especially to the greatest label in the scene: Stamina Records! This label has been pushing Freeform forwards since the dying day of NuEnergy. And they've been quite successful to be fair. Only quality tunes are released, and in this mix you will only find the best of the best. So what's in this mix? Simple: Stamina Records tunes. The finest. The ones you are notified about when you are a fan. You get e-mails from them on a regular basis, and in them, you are made aware of upcoming releases. So the records are from the finest producers in the scene: Substanced, Transcend, Digital Commandos, A.B, and more. The tracklist is a beauty, but the records are even better! These mixes make me extremely happy. Extremely happy. Freeform is so underrated, but there's no reason for it to be like that: it is quality music, well produced, and also a very happy family scene. Everyone knows each other, and when you go to a Freeform party, you are part of this culture. Stamina Records being the daddy of all labels: they are an unstoppable force. And who doesn't want to be part of this subculture, which is much better than all the mainstream cultures (that's my opinion by the way)? Let me show you this monster of a tracklist. And as an added bonus: free downloadable mix! Woop woop, that's always great to hear! 01. Transcend feat Zealous - The Promise 02. Digital Commandos - What The Radio Won't Play 03. DJ Neon - Tribute (A.B Remix) 04. Transcend - Planet One 05. Arkade - Greatest Adventure 06. A.B vs Ales & Dani Delirio - Arkesus 07. Digital Commandos - Still Dreaming 08. Substanced - Artificial Reality 09. Transcend - Archangel 10. Substanced - Oneiroi 11. Digital Commandos - Serious Shit 12. Substanced - The Killing 13. Digital Commandos - Future World 14. Substanced - Submission 15. Substanced - Heart Of Time (Kounta Kulture Remix) Look at this awesome tracklist! And if you are into Freeform, some kind of erection must occur. You must feel something in the downstairs department, which is this tingling feeling. Let yourself go, embrace that feeling. Do you know why this is happening? It's because Freeform is life! Freeform is epic. Freeform is porn. It's that good! Obviously the tracks being from the majestic label Stamina Records and the producers being the finest in the scene, you will not be disappointed. It's only M@rt!n-J's involvement which might change the outcome. But he does a brilliant job, and just makes this mix and the records stand out for miles. And to be fair: I've not seen a Freeform mix reach 1.6k plays in 10 hours! Normally it will take longer for those numbers to be reached, but not this one. Freeform is slowly getting recognition? Let's hope so. I've got no comments. Well, no negatives comment. As I would normally say: just download this and have a wonderful experience. Just listen to this, there's nothing else to it. You know it makes absolute sense. It's fucking Freeform, not shite pop music! This is quality music, and will only enlighten your current mood. Oh, the best record? Normally I have already shared it at this stage, but I shall do it now: 'The Killing' by Substanced. No competition with this absolute monster of a track! • Korsakoff - The Sound Of (2006)

Back in 2006 I was one of the thousands of youngsters who purchased this wonderful album. DJ Korsakoff's first debut album, containing records made by her and Catscan. That's a thing I never knew until a few years ago. It did have a specific sound that you could link to Catscan, but I never have done. I always thought it was her music. Especially when I bought this album. I never read stuff, so that's my luck, eh? She quickly grabbed the attention of the raving culture, and also the media. She appeared in a male magazine, I forgot what the name was, but I was a member of that too. Gosh, what was the name of it? It was a bit sleazy, looking at the magazine with 2019 goggles on, but at the time it was hot as hell. I was already in love with her music when I heard 'My Empty Bottle' and 'Stardom', but the magazine just added the mystery surrounding her DJ character. She was named the Queen of Hardcore very quickly, and to this day she is booked all over the world, and playing at the biggest events. From a pretty face to a permanent figure in the Hardcore scene. She might have done a lot for the Hardcore scene, and the female DJs and producers, but sorry Korsakoff, Lady Dana will always be my Queen. Well, let's focus on the album. The album was great. I really liked it. Unusual, to say the least. It did not sound like a proper Hardcore album, even though you would expect it to be. But it had certain records, which weren't Hardcore at all! According to Discogs the album has got Hardcore, Hardstyle, Electro, and Hard Trance as styles on it. It was (and still is) an album you might love, or you might hate. Listening to it 13 years after its release, it does become clear who had a huge influence in the project, and which side I am on. The tracklist, if you haven't Googled it already, or Discoged it. 01. Korsakoff - The Sound Of 02. Korsakoff - No Noctophobia 03. Korsakoff - Still Wasted 04. Korsakoff - City Patrol 05. Korsakoff - Best Friends (R Not 4Ever) 06. Korsakoff - Audioholic 07. Korsakoff - Powerrave 08. Korsakoff - Stardom (Thunderdome 2004 Anthem) (Mix 2) 09. Korsakoff - No Compassion 10. Korsakoff - Freedom Of Speed (Accelerate) 11. Korsakoff - My Empty Bottle 12. Korsakoff - Tokyodome Experience (Start The Fight) 13. Korsakoff - Pendeho (Simple Mix) 14. Korsakoff - -L = C2 (Trip Mix) I forgot all these anthems, and I completely forgot about this album, until earlier today! I went through my collection, and found it by accident/mistake. It's amongst the thousands of folder I've got. But I was curious enough to open the folder, and listen to them all! What a collection of weird and forgotten records. Yes, we all know 'My Empty Bottle', 'No Noctophobia', 'Still Wasted', but the ones I really like are the forgotten anthems, like 'Stardom', 'Tokyodome Experience', and the title song 'The Sound Of'? Who still plays these anthems? I think that they are underrated, and should be played at events nowadays. Not the standard Korsakoff stuff, but also the 'underground' sound that was created, and can clearly be heard on this album. It is full of surprises, and the main focus is Hardcore. But this albums has so much more. But would you appreciate this diverse album? Do you want Electro, Hardstyle, and Hard Trance, all jam packed on one album? I found it interesting, and really dig the album. Not the last record though. That's really not the highlight of this album. And 'Pendeho' is also not my favourite'. They have experimented with different sounds and styles, and sometimes it has worked, and for these two records it didn't. A sad ending to a good album. I'm on an Oldskool vibe right now, and really enjoying Korsakoff's album. Can't believe that it was released 13 years ago. I was 22 years old when this bad boy came out, still at college! And now I'm still a loser and reminisce to the good ol' days. And back in 2006, this album rocked. It has stood the test of time. Worth checking out, if you can find a copy somewhere. • Inspector Sands - Can't Stop Promo Mix 2 (2016)

Three years ago an album was released so good, it became my favourite Breakbeat Hardcore album of all time! Of course I'm talking about Inspector Sands' 'Can't Stop' album. The truly amazing album was delivered to my house as a present from my girlfriend, and it was signed by the master himself. Even though the album is now 3 years old, I still stand by my comments from 2016 and say that it's one amazing album! I've not heard or seen anything from Inspector Sands since. Which is a shame, because the album was a smashing album. Not only was it full of his own stuff, but it also included remixes by Fracus & Darwin, Luna-C and Chriss Ross, and it also had collaborations with CLSM and Hattrixx. To promote the album back in 2016, two mixes were uploaded, two that I still listen to in 2019. And they still make me feel happy. Breakbeat at its best. Even though you might not have heard of this album before today, you are still able to get the album. And I urge you to do exactly that. You can get it via Bandcamp, if you click here Let's focus on the second promo mix, made by DJ Remixx. It does not contain all the records, it contains much more (well, you'll find out). Worth your time, really it is! 01. Zedd feat Hayley Williams - Stay The Night (CLSM & Inspector Sands Remix) 02. Inspector Sands - What A Rush 03. Inspector Sands - Feel The Heat (Exclusive Album Mix) 04. Inspector Sands - Lay My Beatz 05. Inspector Sands - Did I Dream 06. Inspector Sands - Hard Daze (KFA Version) 07. Inspector Sands - Rippin Up Showz (Dubplate Intro Mix) 08. Inspector Sands - I Call Your Name (Original Mix) 09. Inspector Sands - I Call Your Name (Fracus & Darwin Remix) 10. Inspector Sands - Can't Stop 11. Inspector Sands - Can't Stop (Luna-C Remix) 12. Inspector Sands - You Think You Know Me 13. Inspector Sands - Motivader 14. Inspector Sands - Superfly 15. Inspector Sands - Superfly (Chris Ross Remix) Wow. But before we delve into sheer madness, I need to address one thing: the best Breakbeat records I've EVER HEARD! Yes, that's right, you've read it correctly. It's the best of the best, and I've not come across anything this good after the album's release. 'Can't Stop'. Remixed by Luna-C. My Sweet LORD! What an anthem! I've not heard a record this good before, or since. The original is 'so so', but Luna-C's version takes the whole Breakbeat scene, and just throws it in the bin! With this record he has shown me that he still rules the Breakbeat scene, and knows how to make a smashing record. This is epic on each and every level, and the build up is just tremendous! Even the drops are just beyond belief! And when you think it's over, it hits you again, over and over! I've got only good feelings about this track, and get goosebumps whenever I hear it. Obviously in this mix a shorter version was played, but if you purchase the album, you get 5 minutes and 21 seconds of pure Breakbeat porn. That's it. Porn. Lovely and sexy porn. Fuck me, this record is good. Astonishingly good. Inspector Sands, your album was excellent anyway, but this record just smashing it out of the park (is that how you would say it?). This review could literally become a 'one song' review. 'Can't Stop' is just epic. A monster. Underrated. Majestic in every way. You need to get this album. Why the fuck are you waisting your time, it's only £10. The rest of the mix is good too! DJ Remixx's mix is just spot on. I love the fact that he starts with an epic remix by Inspector Sands and CLSM of Zedd and Hayley Williams' song. The vibe continues throughout the rest of the mix (until it hits that fantastic records, and you get endowed by pure euphoria). No complaints whatsoever. You see, I can only give this mix 5 out of 5 stars. It's also free to download, so hurry up: you've got a few tasks ahead. Purchasing this album and downloading this epic mix. • Gas Op D'n Basstape Vol. 1 (2015)

I am originally from Limburg. And if you've never been to the Netherlands, you might not know this province. It must be around 200 km down South from Amsterdam (to all those who do not do their research, and only know Amsterdam). In Limburg we do love to party, especially during our national Carnaval. If you've not been to Limburg around Carnaval, you are missing out on a lot. Yes, it involves a lot of drinking, putting on weird costumes, and funny hoompapa music (or however you spell it). I've outgrown this bit in my life, but when I was younger, carnaval was everything! It was the only time of the year to look out for. It's a festive period for everyone, young or old. During the day you would have kiddie carnaval parades, and in the evening/night you would see adults going absolutely bonkers on booze. For me it was Flugel, the majestic drink, that kept me going. During the 90s I was all hyped up for carnaval, even though I did not put a lot of effort in my costumes. I was there. Mostly in Valkenburg, Heerlen and Maastricht. And boy, I have been waisted for most days. To be fair, the music was always crap. Seeing as I'm from Limburg, I should speak the regional dialict, but seeing as I can't, I could not sing a long, but after 15 pints of beer and a lot of shots, you literally would not care. But music progresses, and now it's at this stage where the EDM world is getting involved. Not exactly, but they have implemented a lot of sounds from the EDM world into the carnaval sound. And this mixtape I'm about to show you has done exactly that. If this was played during my carnaval days, I reckon I would not have lived passed 21. I would have drunken myself to death, and partied too damn hard. Carnaval. I might have outgrown it, but the quirkiness still gets me. So when I heard this mixtape by Vollen Sjas, a smile was put on my face. And if you are not Dutch, this might seem to be a bit too weird. Well, we are Dutch, we are constantly high, live in windmills, and rave with clogs on. 01. Vollen Sjas - Intro 02. Tsunami - Vollensjas Mashup 03. Lamme Frans - Wakker Met Een Biertje (Vollen Sjas Remix) 04. Rob Ronalds - Ons Frans Is Vrijgezel (Vollen Sjas Remix) 05. Ummet Ozcan - Smash (Vollen Sjas Duo Penotti Mashup) 06. Snollebollekes - Vrouwkes (Vollen Sjas Remix) 07. FeestDJRuud - Gas Op Die Lollie (Vollen Sjas Remix) 08. Snollebollekes - Snollebolleke (Vollen Sjas Mashup) 09. Maarten - Jij Bent Zo (Vollen Sjas Remix) 10. Danny van Loon - 400 Liter (Vollen Sjas Mashup) 11. Wild Motherfuckers - Wild Wild West (Vollen Sjas Mashup) Carnaval is all about having fun, and within this 32 minute long mix, you will experience fun. Is it quality music, or music you would appreciate when you are getting a tad drunk, or already passed the stage of being drunk as f**k? Fun, that's the magic word. I've been living in the UK for a while now, and I have missed out on everything that has happened in the carnaval scene, but it looks much more interesting now. I've been hunting down several mixes on Soundcloud, and they all seem to have this Freestyle vibe surrounding them. No more Germanic influences, but more Dutch influences. A bit of Hardstyle here and there does not hurt anyone. I've not heard of Vollen Sjas before, but his mix was really entertaining. Cheesefest from the start, but that's the magical part of carnaval: we do not take ourselves seriously. There is an obvious battle between Limburg and Brabant, who is more carnaval (obviously the Limburgers), but besides that there's no politics involved, or religion. Put your weirdest mask on, put some money in your pocket, and go ape. Who needs to see A'dam when you can see true party animals show you what we do best? The tunes were ok, not quality, but funny enough to get me moving. Cheesy as f**k. And I'm hooked on it now. You should check it out, right NOW! And book your next trip to the Netherlands during carnaval. You know it makes sense. • Air Max Day Mix by Amada (2016)

Air Max. The type of sneakers the Gabber culture embraced during the 90s, and this hype is still linked to the gabbers in 2019. They've been an important factor in our culture, and are always associated with us, ravers. You weren't part of the gang/hype if you didn't have Nikes. Especially Air Maxes. And I had a pair when I grew up, so hyped up about the colour combination, but 1 1/2 size too small. Went to many raves in them, and they've seen a lot of things, and nearly killed my toes. But you had to, you see. Gabbers and Air Maxes went hand in hand. Back in 2016 Amada made this wonderful mix for the Thunderdome Soundcloud page, and recently I re-discovered it. Already wrote a review about it, but I felt it was necessary to remind all of you lot of this mix. Why, you might ask? Well, because the mix is sick! Don't actually know if there's a legitimate Air Max day, but nowadays we celebrate everything: secretary day, national pumpkin day, King's day... you name it, and it has an 'official' day linked to it. So I guess Air Maxes must have their own day? Whatever floats your boat. If you don't like Air Maxes, are you actually a raver? Have you ever owned a pair? I remember going to a shoe store in the South of the Netherlands (Limburg), buying shoes that looked a lot like Nike's, but were a tad cheaper. I quickly got tapped on the shoulder by the community, and was made aware of it. I started saving money to buy the real deal, and once I got them, I raved. Raved until I couldn't go any further, Air Maxes are as important as the actual music. The hipsters might use them for running (=boring), but true ravers will use them to pound the ground underneath their feet for hours on end. And by the end of it, it might be covered in thousands of liters of alcoholic beverages, mud, and you name it (even piss, when you are drunk you dribble down the incorrect way, you might have spillage). In 2018 I got my first white set of Air Maxes, and have worn them with pride. Hell, I think I'm going to wear them today, out of respect to Amada's mix, and our never dying culture. Let's focus on the mix. It's dope. It's 3 years old, but the same as Air Maxes: it never grows old. Obviously not like us humans: I already feel like I am 45, and I'm only 35. Nike's and Hardcore keep me young. 01. The Opposites feat Sef - Me Nikes 02. Yellow Claw & The Opposites - Thunder (Evil Activities & E-Life Remix) 03. Korsakoff - Tamara 04. DJ Paul Elstak - Still Luv U More (The Viper Remix) 05. Unexist & OGM909 - Guns Blazing 06. Marshall Masters - Don't Touch That Stereo (Maniac's Hard Edit) 07. AniMe - Terrordome #TiH 08. The Viper & Neophyte - First Aid 09. The Viper & Re-Style feat Diesel - Night & Day 10. Korsakoff - Somnia 11. The Viper & Panic - Lean On Bootleg 12. Nosferatu - Sanctity Of Space 13. Bodyshock - Communicate 14. Evil Activities - Go Fuck Yourself 15. Neophyte Records All Stars - Adrenaline 16. Skrillex feat Ragge Twins - Ragga Bomb (Art Of Fighters Bootleg) (DJ Mad Dog Re-Edit) 17. Drokz - Brand New Kickz 18. Noize Suppressor & Drokz - Fingers In The Air Absolute epic mix. Amada's mix is really doing the Air Max culture proud, and is a testimony to our dying love for raving. And you can use your Air Maxes throughout this mix, just to show you love to Hakkuh. I have listened to this mix over and over, and I'm really a happy bunny after hearing it again and again. Especially when it starts with the mix starts with two epic records. Yes, in my first review I mentioned that I wasn't digging the 'Thunder' anthem, but I fell in love with it over the years. Obviously The Opposites and Yellow Claw aren't Gabbers, but this remix does the culture justice. And also 'Me Nikes'. But that's just a nod to the Nike wearing raver. And the tune was actually funny. What's the best record of this mix? 'Sanctity Of Space' by Nosferatu. When it comes to melodies, you know that Nosferatu has got your back, and knows how to create epic monster anthems. And it also has space bits in it. I love space travelling, so it ticks all my boxes. Who doesn't love Hardcore? Who doesn't love Nikes? If you don't answer yes to either questions, I am wondering: why are you even reading this review? This is only for the die-hard mother fucking ravers. Those that travelled millions of miles in their well beloved shoes, to rave throughout the night. That's us. That will always be us. That's one thing they can't take away from us. Hardcore till I die. • TCD Top 5 26-07-2019

This re-occurring feature is back! Have you missed it? If you have, you are the only one. But hey ho, let's talk about music instead of me focussing on myself and asking for self pity. Music is much more important, and this week I've found a few amazing records. And guess what? They are not what you are expecting of me. Well, maybe one record I had to add, because it's one big anthem at the moment. But the others are obscure, underground, or just filthy records. We've gone hard this week, no rock, pop, or anything soft. TCD loves his music hard, so to choose these few is an obvious choice. Please be advised that a few of these records are using the Dutch language as their lyrics, so you might not understand the meaning behind it. I do apologise for this. But I'm still Dutch, and have an orange heart until the day I die. So sometimes I've got to go back to my roots, and have a laugh and giggle. Especially when the songs are so dumb, they become classic anthems! Here's my top 5 of today! Hope to see you around when the next top 5 is presented! 1. STTRBSTN - Steeds Verrassend Altijd Voordelig (Kruidvat Fissastyle Tool) (2018) 2. Ome Riesch - Een Beetje Spuug (Dokter Janssen Remix) (2017) 3. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz x Sleazy - Piep Kicks (2019) 4. Transcend & Cyrax - Follow Me (2018) 5. Headhunterz feat Sian Evans - Orange Heart (2019)

  • Charlotte de Witte @ Ultra Miami 2019 (Carl Cox x Resistance Stage)

Charlotte de Witte. My new number 1 superstar DJ. As I call her, the beast from Belgium. And the reason for this rather unusual name? Well, the music she plays is demonic, and she takes no prisoner. Always on spot when it comes to mixing, and she devours records like I've not seen before. Trust me, it's a positive nickname. She came, she saw, she conquered. She is now one of the biggest DJs in the whole world. And she's capable to stand her ground, and demolish everything in front of her. The last couple of days I've been hooked to everything Charlotte related. I've been on Youtube and Soundcloud, and have listened to many hours of her performing in the snow, in the scorching heat, basically everywhere. I'm amazed by what she's capable of. Her sets do speak to me, and I just love her enthusiasm and passion. You can tell that she's enjoying herself, and she knows it. Not one to raise her hands every 15 seconds and shout down a microphone that she's got a new collaboration, but she is focussed. Extremely focussed. And moves her hair out of her face every 15 seconds. But besides that, she's determined to make each set work, wherever she plays. This year she played at Ultra Miami, and she nailed it. Her set got reduced due to massive flight delays from Montreal to Miami, but those 47 minutes she's on stage, she absolutely plays her finest set so far. Trust me, I've watched/listening to a lot of her sets, and this is really a fantastic one. At first the crowd does make a lot of noises, but are more focussed on them being live on Instagram and Facebook, but once Charlotte grabs them by their throats, she doesn't let go, and they all become obsessed/possessed by this Belgian Techno Queen. Normally I would focus on Soundcloud sets, but seeing as the Youtube video is truly wicked, I would like you to see her in action. She's got the skills, and determination. I'm really in awe with the way she mixes. No fucking about, occassionally a smile here and there, but that's it: music is the main focus. Good choice, to be fair. Who needs to throw cakes or have a pre-recorded set when you can actually deliver an awesome set, and take the crowd to the next level? Here's the tracklist. 01. Anetha - Return Ticket 02. Fatima Haji - Taking Over (AnGy KoRe Remix) 03. Rita Gherz - Madness 04. Coyu - Practical Disorder Compulsory (Coyu Raw Mix) 05. Eats Everything - Space Raiders (Charlotte de Witte Remix) 06. Cutout - Heat (Bruce Remix) 07. Dave Simon - Stripes Of Soden (TWCOR Remix) 08. DJ Skull - Acid Wiss L 09. Alex Bilancini - Oblivion 10. Charlotte de Witte - This 11. Sebastian Groth - Snow Leopard (Gary Burrows Remix) As I said before, and I'll say it again: Charlotte is just seriously impressive. Her skills are easy to get addicted to, and the way she delivers the music is just beautiful. She makes me smile, and not actually care about the world around me. And, let's not forget: the tracks she used for this set are just strong and powerful. When I heard this set for the first time, it made me happy. And sad at the same time. I've never had the opportunity to see/hear her live, but I was happy that this set was recorded, and I can enjoy it whenever, wherever. That's the beauty of the internet. Her set is 45 minutes long, and she just devours the crowd. I've got only credit for this Queen of Techno. No negative feedback, no mixing issues, no shite records. Everything is just picture perfect. But I would not have expected anything less from this future 'number 1' DJ in the world. I just love the fact that she is having fun and is focussed at the same time. She deserves the world and everything in it! Go and check her set out, if you haven't already! Best record? The record that is played at 31 minutes. God, that record is filth, pure filth. • Promo @ Q-Base 2018 - Thunderdome

Q-Base 2018. The last Q-Base ever. Well, maybe for now, maybe they come back in 5 years. But whatever might happen in the near future, it has not been organised this year. Last year Q-Dance closed the chapter, and went out with a bang. With 9 areas and a truckload full of artists they made sure that the party goers would have the night out of their lives. And in the Thunderdome area they had a few amazing artists, like Waxweazle, Vince, Predator, Nosferatu, Evil Activities, I:gor, and more. And also DJ Promo, the one who's set I've found on Soundcloud. The party goers voted for this event being 'excellent'. And just judging the line-up for not only the Thunderdome area but all the others too, and its massive history (Q-Base over the years have gained a massive following of fans), their last event must have been one you should have gone to. I'm sitting here, not been there, and I'm regretting not going. I'm missing out on a lot of amazing and epic parties. And who doesn't want to go to an event where DJ Promo is playing? His set was an hour and a half long. A 'normal' size set for me. Those short half hour/hour long set is good, but you cannot explore the DJ's strength and cannot venture into multiple dimensions. Short sets always gives you only one sound, and longer sets allows the artists to go mad, in a good way. Expect nothing less from Promo. His set contains 42 records, and you will smile when you see the tracklist. He dug deep into his collection, and played not only his own stuff, but other amazing classic records. Just see the tracklist, and you know why this is ace! 01. Promo - Lord Of Undow 02. Promo & X-ess - Vicious Circle 03. Promo - I Come Correct 04. DJ E-Rick & Tactic - Hardcore Rules The World 05. Promo - King Of Pain 06. Catscan - The Agency 07. Promo - Patterns In Chaos 08. Tha Playah - Mastah Of Shock 09. D-Passion - People Of Faith 10. E-Man - E-Shifter 11. Neophyte - Real Hardcore 12. Headbanger - No Law 13. Masochist - Killing Scum (Promo Remix) 14. Steve Shit - Commonyall 15. Miro - The Shining 16. Digital Boy - OK Allright (Remix) 17. Meagashira - End Of Line 18. Dione - Come Here And Die 19. Art Of Fighters - Redemption 20. Ophidian & Hamunaptra - Whispers Of A Nameless Fear 21. Headbanger - Sweet Dreams (You Bastard) 22. Promo - Among The Best 23. Catscan - WOIII 24. DJ Bountyhunter - Woops 25. Jones & Stephenson - The First Rebirth 26. Promo - Brother Of Conflict 27. Amnesys - Worldwide Crisis 28. Catscan - Finishing Profiles 29. Meccano Twins - Dominhated 30. Brian Acardy - Let The Bass Boom (Wavolizer Remix) 31. Ophidian - Butterfly 32. Mad-E-Fact & The Viper - Here It Comes 33. Promo - Inside Symphony 34. Project Omeaga - Prednison Attack 35. Ophidian - Only One 36. Promo & Catscan - Kik Of Kak 37. Promo - Phreak Ya Speaka (N-Vitral Rephreak) 38. N-Vitral & Dither - Hammer Dance 39. Neophyte & Promo - TD = You 40. Masters Of Ceremony - Hardcore To The Bone (N-Vitral Remix) 41. Dither - Look Alive 42. Endymion - Pussy Mutherfuckerz (D-Fence Remix) A bit of the old, a bit of the very old, and a few new records. That's in short what is in his set. And when I'm talking old, just look at 'The First Rebirth'. Now that's a classic! And new? 'Lord Of Undow'. Well, it's not made yesterday, but also not 24 years ago. Anyway, this set is full of nostalgia. And that's what you need when you play on the Thunderdome stage. I have to say that back in 98 I witnessed Promo killing Mysteryland, giving it another hole (tearing another one). And I've always been following his musical career. He had his ups and downs, but the majority of the records he has made have always pleased me. Even the 2010 sound (which has a lot of the early 2000s in it) pleases me. Promo knows how to deliver a record so distinctively Promo-ish, it creates good vibes. And during his hour and a half set, he delivers. Just look at the tracklist: a true raver will start to dribble. It's that good. And to include all time classics is just amazing. But the last few Promo sets have been hit or miss. Even his actual Thunderdome set from 2017 (I think it was 2017, when he played 'throughout' the Thunderdome years?) was a miss. But other sets are just spot on. With this set at the last Q-Base he does deliver, and with a few mixing errors it's so far my favourite DJ Promo set of all time. Or is Mysteryland 1998's the best? The records selected are amazing. Even the Industrial Hardcore ones. He just delivers, and knows how to build a set (start off slow, end with a brutal ending). Best record has got to be 'Brother Of Conflict', simply because this record remains in your head, long after it has finished. A good set. Really enjoyed this trip down memory lane. And so should you! • Carl Anscombe - Life After Love (2019)

Folk music. Not something I usually review, and not something I go out and look for on Soundcloud or other platforms. Not disliking it, but it's not my main focus. Sometimes I just need a push in the right direction, and that's exactly what happened a few days ago. The artist in question who notified me of his album is this UK singer/songwriter Carl Anscombe. His debut album was released in January 2019 and is called 'Life After Love'. This pop/rock album contains 9 records, written by Carl and you can hear him sing on each of them. And it's different to the kind of music you normally see here on TCD. But we are open minded, and gave Carl Anscombe's album a chance. But should you? I have to come clean here: I have not heard of him before. Not seen or heard anything before, and even though I'm a Soundcloud junkie, it did not appear on my timeline. But sometimes you want to wake up and hear something completely different. That box got ticked this morning. It was a nice way of waking up on this Saturday morning. But what's the album about? Well, the songs are about several different topics, including depression, love, or more likely, life after love (hence where the title comes from). Does that make the content of this album loaded? Well, it's not an all happy and uplifting album, but it's all about the message of each song. Does it deliver? Before we talk about that, let me show you the tracklist: 01. Carl Anscombe - Life After Love 02. Carl Anscombe - I don't Mind 03. Carl Anscombe - Dream About 04. Carl Anscombe - Take A Walk With Me 05. Carl Anscombe - Paradise 06. Carl Anscombe - Ain't No Drake 07. Carl Anscombe - Depression 08. Carl Anscombe - Set Me Free 09. Carl Anscombe - Dear You The album is only 29 minutes long, and if you like the records, you can get this album from all the known platforms, from Tidal to Spotify to whatever you get your music from. It's not what I'm used to. I had to re-listen to get the message, and understand what Carl wanted to say. It's something that does hit hard, especially 'Despression'. Currently my mindset isn't the best, and even though I'm taking medication, the word is loaded to me. But my love life is absolutely perfect, so no worries for me. You can hear a reoccurring theme throughout the album. Can you figure it out? I love his mellow voice, and the music is soothening as well. The song lyrics are loaded, but if that's what you are looking for, Carl has got your covered. There is a bit on this album I do not get. 'Ain't No Drake'. Well, he said it himself. But his voice does not suit the rapping bits. His voice is more for the music that he uses for the other 8 tracks. But rap is not suitable, doesn't suit him. Maybe this song is to underline that exactly? In general I liked the album. Still have to get used to the styles he's using. But in general it's a nice album. Best record is 'Set Me Free'. Worst? Well, I think I already have that covered. I think that you should give Carl's album a chance. Give it a go, and see what you think. I liked it, and it wasn't over the top, it wasn't too much, it blended it nicely with the atmosphere in our house now. But would I go and search for this? Not me personally, because these genres are not my favourite. But if you like those, you should check it out. You know what to do, right? • Sied van Riel Live At Liberation V2 Fabric London UK May 4 2019

How come I've not seen this? Can anyone explain this to me? Can anyone explain to me why no one has informed me that Sied van Riel was in my hometown? In bloody London, and I didn't go? I feel so empty now. I'm a huge fan of this Dutch producer/DJ, and I didn't go! How embarrassing?! Sweet Lord, if I'd known, I would have gone. Stupid FB and Twitter, normally I see ads on a daily basis, but now I didn't. I'd rather see ads for this than a stupid cocktail drink. Anyway, Sied van Riel was in London. And I didn't go. Before I become all sad and soppy, let's focus on the positive side: his set is on Soundcloud, and it's downloadable! Yes, you read that right, the master has given his set for free. But he does that often. Still an added bonus though. Another bonus feature is a tracklist, which includes a lot of unknown records! Of course I know 'Rivella', which is a monster anthem, but Sied has added a lot of new stuff I've not heard before. And that's cool. So what kind of music are we going to listen to? Knowing Sied, it will be Trance. But more Progressive. Are we ready for the tracklist? 01. Sied van Riel - Navigator 02. Craig Connelly feat Kate Miles - Lost Without You (Sied van Riel Remix) 03. Sied van Riel - Techzilla 04. Ummet Ozcan - Reboot 05. Cold Blue - And Madness Remains 06. ID - ID 07. Sied van Riel & Natalie Gioia - Hold Me Close 08. Richard Durand & Sied van Riel - Rivella 09. Bart Claessen - Playmo 10. Tiesto - Traffic (Sied van Riel Remix) 11. Misja Helsloot & Dirkie Coetzee feat Diana Leah - Won't Stop Searching (Sied van Riel Remix) Well, to be fair, I have heard a few of these before. Like SvR's remix of 'Traffic', 'Rivella', Playmo' (all time classic), but records like 'Navigator' and 'Techzilla'.... ooh, they are hot! And new to my ears. This set is beautiful. As good as you would expect it to be. It is a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but a pleasant one. Not a nuisance or too much, but just perfect. As you would expect from Sied. He's the master, and this set shows us why. And it's an obvious choice for him to play at fabric. A beautiful set, and it's as flawless as you can get it. Sied van Riel is just boss. I've got no negative comments to mention. So sit back, press play, and download this right now. And Sied, if you are reading this, please please please make sure you tell me when you are in London. Never had the chance to see you, but I need to. Best record? 'Rivella'. Power track. Ultimate boss record. Speaker destroying anthem! • TCD TOP 5 14-07-2019

It's been a couple of weeks, but today I have found the time to create a new top 5. It's been an interesting few weeks: a lot of 'old' top 5 records have been on repeat over and over, and I had little time to find and create a new top 5. But I have managed to find a few classic anthems you definately need to check out. Ranging from Trance to Hardstyle to Jazzy, you name it, it is on this list. Don't ask me how I came across these or why. Unless you are really interested: leave a comment below. But the majority won't even question my top 5. Don't even know if anyone reads them at all. Maybe I'll do a few more, and then stop? Ah well, for now, here's my top 5 of today! 1. Emily Rose - Boom Goes The Music Box (2013) 2. Tom Exo - Borderline To Reality (2019) 3. Headhunterz - Scrap Attack (2011) 5. Radical Redemption - Accumulated Filth (2016) 5. Sampha - Treasure (2019)

  • Headhunterz @ Decibel Outdoor 2018 | Decibel Powerstation

Last week I discovered Headhunterz's Defqon.1 set from this year, and since that moment I've been fully engulfed with his music. I've been listening to a few of his sets online and a few of his records, and came across his set recorded last year at another epic event: Decibel Outdoor. This one and Defqon.1 are on my 'to-do-list'. I've wanted to go to this event since it started back in the early 00s, but never seemed to get tickets for it, or someone to go with me. Going to an event as Billy-No-Mates is never fun, so I had to skip it in the past. But when I found people to go with me, the tickets were already sold out. Bummer. Before we become all 'Lieve Martine' (only Dutch people will know her) and become all soppy for me not going, let's focus on Headhunterz's set. Only uploaded 4 months ago and on B2S' Soundcloud page, it is a set you need to listen to. His Defqon.1 set was epic (besides the one Dutch lyrically focussed track) was truly amazing, but was his Decibel set any good, or even better? Well, the answer will be reveiled later, but trust me: Headhunterz never disappoints, so don't expect a bad score. He's this wonderkid. He knows exactly how to make Hardstyle extremely euphoric and so damn catchy. So trust me when I say that he won't disappoint. Someone added a tracklist to the set, which is an added bonus. Be ready for the Headhunterz's madness! 01. Headhunterz & Sound Rush feat Eurielle - Rescue Me 02. Headhunterz - Takin It Back (Headhunterz Edit) 03. Wildstylez - Heartbeat 04. Headhunterz - Leap Of Faith 05. Sound Rush feat LXCPR - Take It All 06. Headhunterz - Dragonborn (Psychedelic Sunshine Edit) 07. Headhunterz - Still Standin' (Gangsta Paradise Edit) 08. Project One - The Creation Of Art 09. Headhunterz - Rock Civilization (Star Wars Intro Edit) 10. Sound Rush - Look At Us Now 11. Headhunterz - The Sacrifice (Max Enforcer Remix) 12. KAYZO - This Time (Sub Zero Project Edit) 13. D-Block & S-Te-Fan & Frequencerz - The Ultimate Celebration (Intents Festival 2018 Anthem) 14. Project One - Resurrection 15. Headhunterz & Sub Zero Project - Our Church 16. Headhunterz - Destiny The cool thing about this tracklist is, even though there's a lot of his own stuff in here, it contains the 'early' stuff too! I love the fact that he keeps his old stuff interesting, and updates it whenever he can. And his early stuff is the music that got me interested in him as a producer. The amount of Euphoric Hardstyle records in this mix is amazing! But that's what Headhunterz does: he plays the records at events to make sure the crowd experiences heaven on Earth. He will make sure that everyone present will go home on a high. Who needs drugs when you've got Heady? I certainly don't. I've been listening to this set over and over again and have been on a buzz ever since. Nice one, bruva, nice one. It's like he has never 'left' the scene. It has been good to all of us that the legend returned. And he came back better, and much stronger. You can tell that he spent a lot of time in the studio, creating music that comes from the heart. And the records played at Decibel, boy, they are all solid as a rock. I've been amazed from the first to the last second. I had to get used to one record, ' The Creation Of Art'. But that even grew on me more than other records. To me a record is good (being Euphoric) when you can whistle along to it. And ALL Headhunterz records do have that quality. Just listen to this set and you will know why it is, and if you are strong enough, try to stop yourself from whistling. If you are not part of the whistling crew, are you even a raver? The set is amazing, but the actual recording isn't the best. You wouldn't expect 'firework' noises to be louder than the actual set (at the beginning a noise comes through your speakers, and it does sound like fireworks). Maybe if they left that out, it would be the best Heady set ever. But at least that's the only 'bad remark'. Couldn't find anything else. Can you? A fantastic set, and to me better than his latest Defqon.1 set. But that's just a matter of opinion. To me it just rocks more. And it was difficult to select one favourite record, but I had to: 'Look At Us Now'. Sorry Heady, but this record is just so damn good. Following closely is 'Take It All' and 'Heartbeat'. This might come across to you all that Heady's tracks are not my favourite, but they are. Fuck it, I'll just say it: the whole set is epic. Not a dull moment. A wonderful set. It's raining at the moment, and I think we all should embrace the good Summer that might be ahead of us. So reminisce, and take a time machine back to last year's Decibel, when Headhunterz nailed it. Brilliant set. Recording is a bit meh, but who cares? • DJ Delusion - SummerVibes (2019)

UK Hardcore. Why don't I see that many mixes anymore on my timeline? Can anyone please explain? Well, no matter if I'm seeing things or not, I found a mix the other day, actually it was pushed towards me by DJ Sc@r. She was kind enough to repost this mix by DJ Delusion. Can't remember if he's signed to the actual label, but he's got something to do with this label, seeing as he's using the logo in the top left corner. This mix contains records I've not heard before. But it could be because I don't see that many UK Hardcore mixes. So literally every record in this mix is unknown to me. And that is kind of exciting, isn't it? Dive into the unknown. And once you've done that, a mix could go both ways: or the mix is extremely good, or it's a huge disappointment. But what is this mix? This 'SummerVibes' mix. What's it going to be? Let me first show you the tracklist before I start waffling on about bits and bobs. Check it out here: 01. Swifty & Ganah - With You 02. S3RL - MTC (LFZ Remix) 03. Eivan Polkka - Miku Hatsune (VSNS Remix)(Delusion 170 Flip) 04. Will Sparks & Reece Low feat Jacob Lee - Delusion (Ryan Kore Remix) 05. Riot - Overkill (M-Project Flip) 06. Benny Benassi - Satisfaction (Jeff Remix) 07. Pegboard Nerds - Purple People Eater (Demolite Edit) 08. Pegboard Nerds - OSCar (Delusion 170 Flip) 09. Kutski & Dany BPM feat Ceci - Discoland This is indeed a tracklist containing records I've never heard of before. They are all new to me, and they do sound a tad different to what I was expecting lol. A bit on the cheesy side sometimes. Well, a mix with a S3RL record always becomes a bit cheesier. Anyway, is it interesting? Well, yes. It's a nice mix by this DJ, who is also new to me. DJ Delusion made this happy and cheesy mix, and he tried to capture the Summer of 2019. I think he's done a marvellous job. The tracks can be quite interesting, but that aside, it's still a nice and refreshing mix. I do like M-Project's 'Overkill' flip. It's different, and the first time I heard it, it made me sick. I do not prefer guitars in Hardcore records, but after a few plays it grew on me. I really started to like it. So obviously that's my favourite record of this mix. Not a fan of the 'Discoland' record. Kind of ruins the original by Tiny Tot. And 'Purple People Eater', not a fan of Pegboard Nerds. The only good record was remixed by DJ Gammer. But besides that, it's a no-no for me. I do love the first record. This is how I picture UK Hardcore to be nowadays. So melodic, and catchy. I miss it. I shall be hunting Soundcloud down for more mixes. For now, you can just enjoy this mix by DJ Delusion. • DJ A.K. - New Hard Techno Mix 14.06.19

The last couple of days I've been extremely busy at work. Even had to go to Burnaston for a seminar. Hence why I've been a bit quiet on here. But not for long. For my drive up North I saved a few mixes I wanted to hear, and this is the first one I think you should check out. Mixed by DJ A.K., this mix contains only Hard Techno records. And it has been quite a while since I last heard a Hard Techno mix (not a liveset). Must have been at least a year or two. I think (and correct me if I'm wrong) his previous mixes were focussed on Hardcore. Be it UK or NL. But for this mix he decided to play Hard Techno, which he has done before. So nothing new for him, but for me it is. I've not noticed his previous Hard Techno mixes. And they don't appear too often on my timeline either. So you can imaging that the second I started listening to this mix I became a very happy Dutchman. I'm always a fan of every style that contains the word 'Hard' in it, be it Hardcore, Hardstyle, Hard House, Hard Trance, or Hard Techno. So what can you expect to hear in this mix? Well, a lot of dark and obscure Techno records. I've not heard the majority of them (but I'm not following the scene as close as I should do). Check out this tracklist, it's a beauty! 01. Hell Driver - 86 02. Emanuelle Millozzi & Luke Di Lullo - Let It Go (T78 Remix) 03. Giovanni Carozza - Vertical 04. Cherrymoon Trax - The House Of House (Thomas Schumacher Remix) 05. Hell Driver - Gunship 06. Thick As Thieves - Jack To The Sound (T78 Remix) 07. ROBPM - Double Slap 08. Spektre - The Maze 09. Hell Driver - This Is Not A Test 10. Veerus - Hypnosis 11. Enrico Sangiuliano - Symbiosis 12. Hell Driver - Ride Or Die 13. Raito - Give Yourself 14. Spektre - Gates Of Dawn 15. Eats Everything - Space Raiders (Charlotte De Witte Remix) 16. Sebastian Groth - Snow Leopard (Gary Burrows Remix) 17. A*S*Y*S - Acid Test A very interesting mix. Dark, but just the way I like it. I like music to be on a different level. It becomes more exciting to listen to, and to let yourself go completely. I don't like music that dictates your every move and thought (like pop music). Techno just does the trick. It can be straight forward hard and rough, but at times it can uplift your body, or pound you into the ground. Techno is definately timeless. DJ A.K.'s mix is tight. Really tight. I have not spotted any mistakes or errors. It's an hour of absolute blissfull music. Really a delightful mix to hear on this Saturday morning. Or whenever you are listening to this (obviously). My journey up North became more interesting and more exciting. I've got absolutely no complaint. Go no negatives to mention. The only thing I would mention is the fact that this mix is downloadable. So it's for free! And you should definately check this mix out. It has made me a happier person, and I'm now hunting down Hard Techno mixes on Soundcloud. So be prepared for more Hard Techno mix reviews in the future. Epic mix, only one score suits it: DJ: A.K. • A Slice Of Freeform [Reloaded] (2019)

Freeform is life! There, I've said it. Freeform has got to be one of the most underrated styles in the whole world. Besides Nazi Death Rock (who wants to listen to that?). But Freeform is a style that deserves more credit. Who needs this EDM stuff when this could be played at the mainstages all over the world? So underrated, yet so beautiful. And uncompromised. The DJs and producers are still within the scene, keeping the music alive, and generic. The mix you are about to listen to, is mixed by M@rt!n-J, a legendary DJ, and the records he has selected are seriously impressive. There's no denying it, Freeform is underground. Freeform is something you need to witness. You cannot say you have lived if you have never been to a Freeform party. I've been to a few, and I always had this good impression after the event: it's basically one big family. That feeling is generic, and honest. We are all there to party, and leave our 'human' bodies to become extraterrestial things. We float, we fly, we do things that no other music style can do to us. It's something so unique to Freeform, you should go to an event at least once in your lifetime. And the music! Don't get me started about the music. Heavenly! A state of bliss, that's what I'm in whenever I hear Freeform. And this mix contains just those anthems that should get the recognition it deserves. But until then, you should just press play, absorb the music, and become a better human being. Let yourself go, on this not so sunny Sunday afternoon. As I said, Freeform is life, and you can press play whenever, and it gets you immediately. I was going to review this mix in a few days, but I accidentally pressed play, and once I heard those familiar noises, I couldn't resist to hear the full mix, and write about it. So here it is, the tracklist: 01. A.B & Solution - NanEater (HU Intro Mix) 02. A.B - This Is (Westfest VIP) 03. Douglas - Ice Cream (Second Scoop) 04. JD-KiD & Arun presents Stardust - Valhalla 05. Douglas - Boys Will Promise Me 11. Transcend & Cyrax - Follow Me (Eufeion Remix) 12. Moonrock - Interstellar Main Theme (170 Mix) M@rt!n-J's mix is as good as you expected it to be. Really entertaining, and the records are really dope too! I cannot name one track he has selected which is crap, or not even Freeform-ish. They are ALL Freeform classics. But to start off the mix with two of A.B's biggest records is just sick. You know you are about to listen to a dope mix when you hear 'NanEater' and 'This Is'. A.B is a legend, but also Transcend, Greg Peaks, Cyrax, and the list goes on. In this mix you do find the creme de la creme of Freeform. And it has taken me to a new level of euphoria. I'm not a huge fan of the 'We Come One' record, still need to get used to a Faithless record being Freeform, but I will get there. That's the only 'downside' of this mix. It's a good record, but not what I was expecting lol. And what about 'Boys Will Promise Me'?!?!?! Never knew there was a mashup! Sweet Lord, how good is that record? Or 'Follow Me'. Even though the original is next level shit, this version does the original justice. I've got nothing else to mention than the usual: check out this mix and download this. That's all. A fucking fantastic Freeform mix. • Headhunterz @ Defqon.1 2019

Defqon.1, the only event I've never been to, but I'm always talking about it. I've seen and heard so many livesets, it's beyond belief that I've not spend money on tickets. The thing is, that when I find out that the tickets are on sale, they are already sold out. I'm always late, the last to find out about tickets. Or I'd simply forget about the existance of the event until it takes place. Yes, I'm dumb as fuck. It's been on my list for over a decade, but it never happened. Ah well, maybe next year? (and I've been saying that for a while too, never succeed beyond this point). Yesterday it was GPF's set I found online, and now I want you all to hear Headhunterz's set from this year's Defqon.1. I wasn't a fan of his EDM adventure, and when he announced his return, I was extremely happy. This lad knows exactly how to produce melodic and extremely catchy Hardstyle anthems, be it on his own or part of 'Project One'. Headhunterz is a legend, and he knows it. When he started making music many moons ago, I started following his music. It touched me, and made me a happier person. But when it became more melodic, I became a bigger fan. Like everyone who witnessed his set at Defqon.1. You can hear and see thousands of fans singing out his songs out loud. Just listen to 'Destiny', and you will even hear one girl scream so loud, she should become a meme herself. This mix contains the finest records, the best of the best, carefully selected by Heady himself. Sadly his set was only 45 minutes long, but within those 45 minutes he demolishes our brain cells, and leave us breathless at the end. And I can say that he indeed got the finest records in there, including what is now my favourite Hardstyle anthem of all time. But more about that after the tracklist: 01. Headhunterz - ID 02. Project One - Love Is Not Enough 03. Headhunterz - Oxygen 04. Blutonium Boy - Make It Loud (Headhunterz Hard Bass 2019 Edit) 05. Proppy & Heady - Summer Of Hardstyle (Headhunterz Are Back Edit) 06. Headhunterz - Destiny (Headhunterz Psychedelic Edit) 07. Headhunterz - Leap Of Faith (Hard Bass 2019 Edit) 08. Headhunterz - Takin' It Back (Headhunterz Edit) 09. Vini Vici x R3HAB - I'm Alive (Wildstylez Remix) 10. Andre Hazes Jr. - Wij Zijn Oranje (Headhunterz Bootleg) 11. Headhunterz - Lessons In Scrap (Headhunterz Mashup) 12. Headhunterz - Dragonborn Part 2 13. Headhunterz & Sub Zero Project - Our Church It's perfect, isn't it? Headhunterz always makes music that comes from within, and the crowd love them all. I don't know if he has even made a shite tune ever (well, besides his EDM period, but I'm talking about his Hardstyle quest). And the good thing is that during his Defqon.1 set he went back to his roots with a few classics. The video is offline now (from Q-Dance's Youtube page), but someone captured the set (recorded at the same time), so I'll be sharing that one. Once Q-Dance re-uploads the original video, I will link this review to it. But I could not leave this set aside without reviewing it. Why? Because it's absolutely epic! This set contains a few highlights, and those are probably the best Hardstyle anthems right now: 'I'm Alive', (which I'll use for my future tattoo: I want the lyrics 'I gotta live like I never gonna die' on my back), 'Our Church', 'Dragonborn Part 2', but the absolute best record is ' Oxygen'. In a weird way, due to my health, the lyrics suit me perfectly. I'm such a fan of these lyrics, I've printed themout at work, and put it underneath a picture of me and the missus. I cannot breathe without her being next to me, when the medics were helping me stay alive. That's why this record means so much to me. A wonderful set, with only two minor things: the MC is talking when he should be quiet. And the Andre Hazes Jr record. I know the feeling behind it, and the reason (Dutch football), but I'm not a fan of Dutch lyrics/folklore music, nor a fan of football. It's a nice gesture, but not for me. Another epic set by Heady. He should have never left. This scene is just his. He owns Hardstye. He is Hardstyle. I must get to Defqon.1 soon. I need to experience it what all those thousands experience. And I need to hear a Headhunterz set being performed live, not via Soundcloud or Youtube. I am a raver, and being at an event is what I should do. Funny side note: I think I've been thinking for about 5 years that Headhunterz was a duo. Due to the Z. Surely I'm not the only one who thought that? • Trance Generater Vol 28 Mixed By RiotstarterDjUk (2019)

Many years ago I started reviewing, I think it must have been over 10 years now (at least), and during the first couple of years I reviewed many mixes by upcoming names in the industry. Many did send their mixes to me directly, that sadly has disappeared, and I have to hunt the mixes myself. One of those DJs who I have reviewed in the past was RiotstarterDjUk. On the old website I would have several mixes, including Gabber. But what got my attention the most were his Trance mixes. And he's back with a new one. I'm not on Hearthis. There's a limit to my social media outreach, and even though I'm on Mixcloud, I'm not really on there. I'm always, and I do mean always on Soundcloud. So if a mix is posted somewhere else, I always miss them. Thankfully the DJ in question reminded me of the existance of his latest instalment, which includes only Euphoric Trance anthems. And that's a style I really appreciate, and is close to my heart. I simply cannot get enough of this, so to hear new music, that's always a bonus. Don't know where he got these anthems from, because I've never heard them before, but who cares? The music speaks for itself, so let's focus on that element. Tracklist anyone? 01. Corin Bayley - First Light (Original Mix) 02. Metta & Glyde - Instant Gratification (Extended Mix) 03. Kiyoi & Eky with Adam Morris - Sense (Extended Mix) 04. Kinetica & Inversed - Escape (Original Mix) 05. John O'Callaghan & Deidre Mclauchlan - Stay With Me (Factor B Remix) 06. Basic Dawn - Pure Thrust (Ferry Tayle Extended Mix) 07. Clay C - Connect (Original Mix) 08. Norex & Adwell - Far Away From You (Original Mix) 09. Danny Eaton - Never Ending Dream (Extended Mix) 10. Astrofegs - Frameshift (Extended Anomaly Anthem Mix) 11. Tom Exo - Borderline To Reality (Extended Mix) A short tracklist, but a long mix. It's an oldskool way of doing it proper: not cramming in 238 records in 20 minutes, but playing records as long as possible, so people can ride the euphoric waves to eternal bliss. Is it indeed a Euphoric Trance mix? Yes, it is. It's so Euphoric, it makes my eyes water. And my ears bleed. So relaxing, so uplifting... this kind of music brings a full on raver into the heavens above. I do love a bit of the harder styles, but when I do hear Trance, I'm completely gone. I'm out, in a different world. Some take drugs to experience that, I just listen to Trance. I've got some good mixes and livesets focussed on Trance, you should check out my website. Check out Tiesto's liveset from 2003, some Euphoric anthems in there as well. Is RiotstartDjUk's set a good one? Short answer is yes. Long answer, well, it's also a yes. Don't know where he found these anthems (never spotted them before in other mixes or on compilations, but maybe I'm buying the wrong mixes?), but they do the trick extremely well. The best record? 'Borderline To Reality'. I'm riding the early 00s Trance wave, and this captures that atmosphere a lot. Blend the old with the new. No nonsense, pure Trance. Is this the best mix in the whole universe? Well, that's what this DJ is claiming. It's up there. It's one mighty fine mix. We need more of these mixes. Get this right now: head over to Hearthis and download this. You know you want to. • GPF The Prerecorded S*x Show Unmastered @ Defqon.1 2019

Let me make sure you all understand: my reviews are not to offend anyone. These are my personal views, and if you disagree, I do apologise. But sometimes you've got to write what you feel, and others disagree. So I will continue, and I might offend a few, and a few friends might go missing on Facebook, but so be it. I'm a fan of GPF. You all know it. And I'm not the only one. I've reviewed literally everything they have ever made, and I have seen them perform live at their event. But due to work commitments I could not go to Defqon.1. And also because I was too damn late for tickets. And also my health ain't great. So I've got excuses. But that doesn't mean I cannot enjoy their set, on this little island across the sea (the UK, if you weren't aware). A few days ago I was in the gym, and I found their actual liveset, which was on Q-Dance's Youtube page. And I pressed play. Wish it came with a warning: my sesh was so damn rough and hard, I strained a muscle between my shoulder blades and walked around for a week like Quasimodo. All because of their set. But what it also did, was generate a huge smile on my face. I couldn't stop laughing, and even today, when I'm listening to it again (this time via Soundcloud, it has been taken down from Youtube?). They've got this unique style, and it suits my personality. I'm messed up, and love the music as weird as possible. I can listen to everything, and over the years you have seen all types of genres fly by on my page. But GPF's style has got to be the weirdest one. It hard, rough, and you cannot categorise it. Is it Hardstyle? Is it Hardcore? Is it Terror? Just call it PuzzyCore, and offend even more. But who cares? I like the fact that they take the music with a pinch of salt, and laugh about it. Mocking themselves, mocking others, and just generally having a laugh. And having a fantastic PR team behind it. If you have missed the Piep Kick debate online, how quickly it escalated to a t-shirt and a 'movement', with an accompanied record to underline their 'hate' to the piep kick (that they use in literally everything!). See, GPF is a mind set that you can only experience when you are literally f**ked up to the bone. Their set and others disappeared from Youtube. Someone was quick enough to record it, and put it onto Soundcloud. So for now we use the Soundcloud player, but when Q-Dance uploads the sets again, I will change it to the Youtube video. Got other sets I want to review too, but you've got to see the madness. And you definately want to see GPF's set. What you also see, is the return of Matty! Where the fridge-magnet has he been, eh? The tracklist, before I start waffling about literally everything and nothing (seems like I could just join GPF, my mind works in mysterious ways)..... 01. The Pre Recorded Sex Show V69 UNMASTERED Test.wma (Official Whitelabel Anthem aftermovie original Matty revitalised deqon -6db donk Mix) 02. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz feat Jizzy - Cummin On Ur Face 03. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz feat Jizzy - Who's Ur Daddy 04. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz feat Malice - All Wanna Fuck 05. Da Tweekaz - Moana (GPF & Caines Donk Fuck Duck Piep Kick 2k19 Remix) 06. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz feat D-Fence - Virgin 07. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz - Left Right Left Right Fuck 08. Da Tweekaz - Frozen (Caine & GPF's Frozen Duck Fuck Remix) 09. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz & N-Vitral - Greazy Response 10. Brief Intermission 11. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz & The Straikerz - Greazemode 12. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz & Riot Shift - Broccoli Fuck 13. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz & Lil Texas & Taylor Swift - Blank Fuck 14. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz & Caine - Fuck Buddy 15. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz feat Mind Compressors - Spaghetti Love 16. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz feat Mizz Behave - Fucked A Girl 17. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz feat Sleazy - Extreme Piep Kicks 18. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz - Venga Fuck 19. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz - Fuck My Mind (Rooler Remuxxx) 20. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz - 69 Million BPM You can say whatever you like, but GPF are weird. Fucking weird. It's not like any other set you might have seen before. The music does not make any sense. It's hard, rough, and funny. A pinch of salt? Probably a big ass teaspoon. I love the fact that the video showed their set being watched by a lot of people. Not just at Defqon.1, but also all over the world. And they just take the mickey out of everything! Which DJ would think about doing a pre-recorded set and get away with it? Which DJ ends a set with a record that plays 69 million BPMs in less than 5 seconds? Who plays a messed up version of the Vengaboys, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift? Who used vocals from a porno and made it a catchphrase: 'don't do it, I'm a virgin'? Only GPF does it. Does that mean you need to take their music serious? No. You don't. Or you can. Depending on what you think of them. Some are extremely against them, and some just love them. The general feeling that they generate is fun. Laughter has been left behind us many years ago. But aren't other styles doing the same at the moment, making people happy, and laugh? Freestyle is one of those styles that just does whatever feels it should be doing. GPF are doing the same, but to the extreme. I'm not trying to get people all against me (who already hate GPF), but I'm just expressing my emotions. If you don't like them, my advise would be to never sit in my car. I think at least once a car journey (and they take up to 3 hours each way) I listen to something GPF-ish. And after discovering their Defqon.1 set, it has been on repeat (also Headhunterz set, but there will be a review coming up shortly). They make me happy. No-one understands them, but no-one understands me either. I have been going through hell the last couple of months, and GPF have made me slightly happier. I want to experience fun and happiness in life: depression already burdens people without them seeing the outcome of it all. When something comes across which might make you happier, grab it with both hands, and let yourself go. GPF do that to me. Music wise I have never been happier. Drokz, if you are reading this: this is indeed fucked up. You are right. But I still like it. Which record is the best? Well, when they announced the return of the much loved Matty, I like that. But the record that destroys me, is 'Extreme Piep Kicks'. That's some serious production skills. The build-up bit is beyond reckoning. Seriously impressive. A wicked set. I wasn't expecting anything less than perfect. Be it pre-recorded or not. Ps. welcome back Matty. Pps. The GPF boys have been kind, and uploaded this set finally onto their Soundcloud page. So enjoy! • Guest Mix #2 - DJ LX: Jungle Hardcoreism Part 2 (2019)

DJ Selectabwoy's Soundcloud is a paradise, heaven for those who love the 90s Jungle, Breakbeat and Hardcore sound. I've reviewed many of his mixes in the past, but now it's time for a review of one of the mixes uploaded to his page, mixed by DJ LX. It's called Jungle Hardcoreism. I've missed the first episode of this new mix series, but not to worry: you can still find it on Soundcloud. But our attention goes to the second instalment. So what can you expect? Pure madness, mixed in the style of the early pirate radio stations. We didn't have many of them in the Netherlands where I grew up (and most of them were not even broadcasting in the area I lived in, so we had basically none, or only shitty ones). But I have heaard a lot of mixes recorded during the early 90s, which were originally broadcasted on pirate stations here in the UK. They played a vital part in the growth of dance music, be it Jungle, Hardcore, Breakbeat, Drum & Bass, and more. The set is an hour long, and contains records so hot, it should come with a warning from the fire brigade. Do not press play if you cannot handle the heat. But if you are brave enough, you can press play, and you are immediately drawn into this magestic mix. 01. Tayla - Bang The Drums 02. Windmill - Divine Inspiration 03. DJ Vibes - Obsession (Music's So Wonderful) 04. Sacred - Do It Together (The Baggy's Mix) 05. DJ Rap & Aston - Vertigo 06. Wots My Code - Dubplate 07. Bizzy B - Ecstasy Is A Science 08. Tango & Ratty - Final Conflict ('93 Dubplate Remix) 09. DJ Solo - Darkage (All Night Remix) 10. Torchman - Tell Me 11. DJ Ileagle - Testify 12. DJ Red Alert & Mike Slammer - In Effect III 13. DJ Gwange - Motionless 14. Hyper-On Experience/Foul Play - Lords Of The Null Lines (Danny Styles Bootleg 2) 15. Smith Inc. - Palomino (2017 Remaster) 16. Trip - The Snowball 17. Undergraduates - Into Da Future (Massive Mix) 18. International Rude Boyz - Drum Programme (Remix) 19. Apollo Two - Atlantis (I Need You) (LTJ Bukem Remix) 20. The Invisible Man - Space Have you paid attention and carefully observed the warning? Have you pressed play and couldn't handle the beats, bass and melodies? Shame on you. Was it perfect for you? Well, the warning did not apply to you, so press play again and let the Jungle Hardcoreism take over your Sunday morning/afternoon. Who needs music channels or Spotify when you've got millions of hours on Soundcloud? Again, I missed the first instalment, so I wasn't aware of this new mix series, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Not that I'm new to the Jungle and Hardcore sound (I'm the complete oppossite of it), but it still amazes me in 2019 that this sound has not aged at all, and still sounds fresh, as if it was made now, instead of the early 90s, especially the year 1993. You cannot believe this is 26 years old. DJ LX's mix is as good as you wanted it to be. Very good, very dark, very edgy, and oh so underground! This kind of music will not be played at big events in the year of our Lord 2019, but only in the darker and edgy sections of a club, or even at illegal raves. And that's where it supposed to be. This was not created to be liked by people who adore the top 40 and who buy 'NNow This Is...'. This is for the true Junglists only. I've only got love to give for this mix. I'm really fascinated about the mix, and love LX's selection. Proper oldskool, yet still underground enough in 2019. Only love for this mix. And now, whilst you are pressing play or going to Pornhub (I don't know what you do with your life), I will search for the first mix, and soak up the darkness. Today my life is all about Jungle Hardcoreism. Fuck yeah! • Tiësto In Concert - Live At Gelredome Arnhem 10-05-2003

Whilst the majority of ravers are destroying their braincells and feet at Defqon.1 right now, there must be a few out there who do not appreciate the harder styles, and rather have some soothening beats coming through their speakers. Now, I've got something special for you. A set from the once number 1 DJ in the world, DJ Tiësto. And what he did back in 2003 shook the world to its core! Nothing like it happened before. 1 DJ,1 event, 8 hours, 25.000 ravers. Pure and unadulterated madness. DJ Tiësto in Concert. One event I really wanted to go to, but I couldn't get tickets (I was too late, sold out really quickly). But I found snippets of his set on Soundcloud. ID&T created a lot of amazing memories with their events, but this one has given me special memories: I couldn't go, but I stayed at home, listening to the radio (3FM) and recorded the whole 8 hours on cassette. I had to switch every half an hour to the other side, and skip the news or adverts, but I stayed awake for this. And I remember it like it was yesterday. Headphones on, because my mum and dad were upstairs asleep. And I was raving my ass off. DJ Tiësto was a boss back in the days. He dominated the Trance scene, and when I witnessed him for the first time at Innercity, I knew that he was the best. He delivered so many great anthems over the years, memorable, and still considered Trance classics. Back in 2003 he was at the hight of his carreer (when he still focussed on the Trance side of things, and not EDM). Many looked up to him, and wanted to be him. He was everything a young beginning DJ wanted to be: a superstar DJ from the Netherlands. I had no talent. The only thing I had was a passion for music. I still love music to the bone. Can't make anything, I just appreciate it. And during his set he played so many memorable anthems. Worth checking out. Please remember that these sets are separated in two bits. And it's not the whole 8 hours. Bloody Nora, imagine if that would emerge on the internet! The world would loose their minds! 01. Tiësto - Magik Journey 02. Tiësto - Adagio For Strings 03. Ernesto vs Bastian - Who's The Starter 04. Skin - Faithfulness (Tiësto Remix) 05. Empyreal Sun - Twisted Reality 06. Solid Globe - North Pole 07. Scott Bond vs Solarstone - 3rd Earth 28. Fictivision vs C-Quence - Symbols 29. Max Walder - Crown 30. F. Massif - Understatement 31. Conjure One - Tears From The Moon (Tiësto In Search Of Sunrise Mix) 32. Tiësto - Traffic 33. NRC - Here Comes The Rain 34. Mark Norman - Stream 35. Tiësto - Lethal Industry 46. Mark Norman - Rush 47. Igor S - Boomerang (Igor S Remix) 48. Dany Wild - Night By Night 49. The Fuller Band - African Male Voice Chants 50. Tiësto - Theme From Norefjell (DJ Jan & Christophe Chantzis Remix) Obviously this is not the whole night! These are snippets from the live broadcast on Dutch radio channel 3FM back in 2003. I was one of the listeners, and when I heard this set coming through my speakers, I felt like a 20 year old kid again. Fuck, I wish I bought a ticket for this and went. This was next level stuff! Tiësto dominated everything! He was a GOD behind the decks. Also, the recording isn't really in high quality. Probably taken from a cassette. Which lowers the quality tremendously. But still you can soak up the atmosphere in the Gelredome. He did his thing, and the crowd loved it. And 16 years later (can you believe it?) there are still people out there who cannot stop listening to this set. Did someone record the whole Tiësto set by any chance, is it somewhere on the internet? I know there's a DVD of the concert, but I reckon it's only max an hour long. Who's got the 8 hours? Who? You have got to remember that this was the first ever concert where the DJ was the main focus. Not many. Just one. DJ Tiësto. He was the main focus of the night. He did what had to be done: make history. The announcer at the beginning of his set was spot on. I still get goosebumps hearing him announce DJ Tiësto. But also the whole set. Brilliant from start to finish. I remember DJ Tiësto touching some continents. You can hear African Male Voice Chants towards the end of the recording. Don't know any other continents he 'visited' (or if he did ALL of them). But what I do remember is that it broke the show into bits. You can't expect Tiësto to give himself and not have a toilet break. Christ, he's a God, but even a God needs a toilet visit. What Tiësto did is truly astonishing. It was a risk by ID&T but it paid off. 25.000 tickets sold, a memorable night created. It's a shame he's chosen a different path, but maybe, if he listens back to his set, he might change his mind. Tiësto, come back. We need more night like this one. Best record? There are a few. But I would give 'Solid Globe - North Pole' the credit. Such a wicked and underrated Trance classic. And also 'Solar Factor - Urban Shakedown'. • TCD TOP 5 26-06-2019

We are back! Before I said it was going to be bi-weekly, then it turned out to be that I only did it once a month, and now I'm back, two weeks since the last blog! It did get some response, so I thought that it would be nice to do another one, seeing as I'm being filled with excellent music (I know that sounds wrong, but I mean it well). The music has been coming through my speakers constantly, and I've been literally in a happy state when I'm listening to these 5 tracks. Today I re-discovered a set that I've not heard in about 16 years! DJ Tiesto, live in concert! When this event took place back in 2003, I was listening constantly. throughout the night. I was part of this, even though I wasn't there. I was tape-recording the whole set, which aired on 3FM, which was a cool radio station back in the day. Two Soundcloud accounts did have the set (well, bits of it), and when I listened to it, I became immediately hooked to the early 2000 sound. Trance was so big, and how quickly it grew became something of a phenomena. Even in 2019 Trance is still big, but will it beat these classic anthems? I doubt they ever will. Not saying that the 2019 sound is crap, but sorry, early 2000 Trance is just next level stuff. Here are 5 of my favourite records. It's a shame I've not heard all of these in 16 years. So underrated! 1. Solar Factor - Urban Shakedown (2002) 2. Lost Lynx - Seasons (Three Drives Mix) (2003) 3. Dave Gahan - Dirty Sticky Floors (Junkie XL Vocal Mix) (2003) 4. Solid Globe - North Pole (Original Mix) (2003) 5. Conjure One - Tears From The Moon (Tiesto In Search Of Sunrise Remix) (2002)

  • Giuseppe Ottaviani Live @ Dreamstate Europe 2019

I have been offline for a few days, enjoying the Dutch climate and soaking up all the deliciousness that the Dutch had to offer, but in the background I was collecting good music. So expect in the next few days a lot of reviews from mixes/livesets I've heard during my week off. And the first one I start with is a set by Giuseppe Ottaviani, recorded at Dreamstate Europe 2019, in Poland. If you were there, you must have had the best time in your life! The line-up was monsterously good: Vini Vici, Alpha 9, Aly & Fila, Eric Senn, Gareth Emery, Gouryella, Ilan Bluestone, Liquid Soul, Markus Schulz, Menno de Jong, Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, Simon Patterson, and more. But that's a seriously impressive line-up, wouldn't you agree? This is not the first liveset by this legend that I've reviewed, I've been following him on Soundcloud for a while now, and he keeps on surprising me with his music. He always mentions that he's a music lover, and I've got to give him credit for that. He truly is. His music is inspiring, and touches souls. And with his live set he gets his music to the masses. And he's done that all over the world. His love and dedication has led him to the biggest parties, and that has certainly paid off. He has got to be one of my favourite artists of all time. Giuseppe is a genuine hero. Underrated. He deserves the world and everything in it. His set at Dreamstate is as good as you would expect it. And an added bonus: free download. And the crowd can be heard during the set, that's the absolute high! I love recording with the audience clearly heard. You cannot have a set without an audience screaming for merci. And scream your name. Giuseppe's set is pure heaven! 01. Giuseppe Ottaviani - Keep Your Dreams Alive (Intro Version) 02. Giuseppe Ottaviani - 8K 03. Gigi D'Agostino - Bla Bla Bla (Giuseppe Ottaviani Bootleg) /w MaRLo - Darkside 04. Giuseppe Ottaviani - Colours 05. John O'Callaghan feat Josie - Out Of Nowhere (Giuseppe Ottaviani Remix) 06. Kalki - Japan w/ Benni Benassi - Satisfaction (GO Live 2.0 Mashup) 07. Giuseppe Ottaviani - Panama 08. Driftmoon - Renaissance 09. Giuseppe Ottaviani feat Clara Yates - Why 10. Hypaton - Never Say Never 11. Giuseppe Ottaviani - Lumina w/ Tears For Fears - Shout (Acapella) 12. Giuseppe Ottaviani - Till The Sunrise Heaven. I cannot describe it in a different way. How come this man ALWAYS knows what to play to please the crowd? How does this man make each and every record he produces or remixes into a beautiful masterpiece? This man is not just a genuine music lover, he is a true pioneer. A legend in his own lifetime. He rules the scene. I've never had the pleasure to witness his liveset, but when I can, I must visit it. I need to get some Giuseppe in my life. His music already touches my soul, and now I need to absorb all the greatness this man gives during his set. I can go on for hours, but I won't. Let the music do the talking. Best record: 'Panama'. Why? Well, because. Just check out this masterpiece. An obvious reason to have him play at Dreamstate. Wouldn't want anyone else! • Dutty Rascal - Species - Hardcore Techno - 90s and 00s Retro Classics

When people give your website positive feedback, that's always a bonus. And today I've got a mix for you all, made by Dutty Rascal. He contacted me via the 'contact us' section, and he made me aware of a mix he uploaded a few weeks ago. Seeing as he's a fan of the old Hardcore sound, I couldn't say no to that. I was pleasantly surprised to hear this mix. Not just because it contains 90s and 00s Hardcore, but because the records he has selected are quite dark, and you won't find these in any mainstream sets anymore. Where have the days gone, where this kind of music would be coming through our speakers on a daily basis? What has changed? Dutty Rascal's mix is one you really should check out. The tracklist contains the forgotten section of Hardcore. Many might not even know these even existed! And sadly, of the majority of records, I never even heard of them. So I was pleasantly surprised. So, now it's time fo you to see the tracklist. 01. Riot Nation - Psycho Freak 02. Kezj & Donut - Cocaine EP (Bring It On Remix) 03. Ceasefire - Who's Afraid Of Noise 04. Chosen Few - Bring The Beat Back 05. Tellurian - Straight To Hell 06. Chosen Few - All You Motherfuckers 07. DJ Clarkee & Blackeye - Hard Hop 08. Nasenbluten - Intellectual Killer 09. Suicide Squad - Da Killa (Jason's Vocal Mix) 10. Itchy Trigger Finger Niggers - Untitled 11. Technological Terror Crew - Where Angels Fear To Thread (Hellfish Remix) 12. R. Wagner - Symphony Of W 13. Wargroover - Hid' Um Hard 14. Hellfish - Techno City 15. Technological Terror Crew - The Ripper (Hellfish Remix) 16. Hellfish - Fukem (Hardcore Psychopath Remix) 17. Hellfish - Way Of The Homeboy Part 1 18. Walter One - Where's My Fucking Hardcore? 19. Bazooka - Evil Empire You can tell he likes his Hardcore to be hard, not soft. I am a fan of this sound, even though I wasn't a huge fan when it was big. I still listened to it, and now a decade or so later I really regret not spending more money on albums I should have purchased. It's a shame, but we've got Soundcloud and Mixcloud, and on it there's plenty of undiscovered music. Like Dutty's mix. One record stands out, and that's because I used to repeat this record over and over, when I got my Earthquake 8 CD. I think it's the last record of CD2? Correct me if I'm wrong. Never knew that got released on Mokum records. But this record has got so many undiscovered layers of madness. I just love it. Experimental, yeah, but it did the trick. A few small errors have occurred during the mix, but nothing major. Nothing that might influence the outcome of this mix. This is pure Hardcore. Underrated Hardcore. Hardcore I'd swap with the present day sound. I'd rather listen to this than this Uptempo stuff. This is next level stuff. But maybe it's only for a handful of people, because we understand this kind of music? Underrated. But thanks to Dutty we get the chance to re-live the 90s/00s again. Boy, I feel like a kid again. Dancing in his bedroom with his 'my first Sony' walkman with dodgy headphones that would crack after 4 weeks of use. I still love it. • Martyna @ Spring Break Outdoor 2019

I could be wrong with the above flyer, but I did not see another flyer for the Spring Break (Your Ass) event. What a name for an event, including body parts in the title of the event. My Italian isn't great, but I'm guessing that it took place on a Saturday, the 18th of May in Italy? Martyna, if you are reading this, can you confirm? Anyway, this is her set, recorded at this event. And as you would expect, it contains the rawest of rawest music. GPF, Warface, Malice, Delete, Frequencerz, etc. You can find it all in here. And Martyna knows exactly what to play to get the crowd hyped up. Her set was only 45 minutes long, but within those 45 minutes she crammed in 23 records. Spotted her at the GPF event, sadly didn't witness her playing, but she's got a promising career ahead of her, if she keeps on playing like this. So, her set. Rawstyle. It's packed to the max with Rawstyle records. It does make me happy when I see not only records from others, but also a few things she has worked on. I'm guessing you are curious now to see the tracklist, yes? 01. Martyna - Maximaal Mashup 02. Jack Of Sound & The Outside Agency - Some More 03. Warface - I Need You 04. Frequencerz - Rockstar (Martyna Refix) 05. Delete & Regain - Shitty Music 06. Delete - Lunatic 07. Caine - Bring The RAW 08. Malice - Brutalized 09. Delete feat Tha Watcher - Payback 10. Warface feat Sovereign King - This Is Vengeance 11. Martyna - Fatality Mashup 12. Rooler - YES! 13. Malice feat Tha Watcher - The Extreme 14. Delete - Take It Back 15. Malice - #ShittyMusic 16. Warface x Malice x Rooler - Watch Your Back 17. Delete - Pulse (Mind Dimension & The Purge Remix) 18. Malice x Killshot - Sledgehammer 19. Warface x Malice - Your Betrayal 20. Delete & Luminite - Crime, Violence & Power 21. Malice - I Am Raw 22. Rooler - Domination 23. Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz x Mizz Behave - I Fucked A Girl Wow. That's a powerful tracklist. It contains everything, and ends on a high note. Or more likely: a piep note. But whatever note you were looking for, you don't need to look far. Martyna has got you covered. I do like her selection. Yes, a lot of reoccuring names, but is that really a bad thing? These artists are on fire at the moment, killing the scene (in a good way). So for Martyna to select these anthems was a no-brainer. Obvious choice. And the result? A banging 45 minutes. If you were at this event, you must have experienced one hell of a set! The ravers there must have left the room all dazed and happy. I cannot find a single bad thing about this mix. It's also a free download, so what are you waiting for? Go jump on the bandwagon and download Martyna's latest mix. • RMB @ Mayday 1994 (The Raving Society)

Another hidden gem for you all on this Sunday morning! RMB live at Mayday in 1994! Who were old enough to rave at this wicked event? I was only 11, so too damn young. And as I said in a previous review (also a Mayday set, from Ilsa Gold), hearing these sets makes you wish you were there. And the good thing about this set is that there's a video on Youtube of their 16 minute long set! How about that? Don't think it's high tech, it's as good as you would expect from a 1994 video. And the sound quality is just appalling. But you get a glimpse of what happened at Mayday. Thousands of ravers losing it. The whistle crew were present, and they went mad through this set. This is a set that gave me goosebumps when I first heard it. Proper 90s Hardcore. And the crowd, gosh, you don't get those recordings anymore. I feel that a set becomes 1000 times better if you have the crowd recorded as well. You will instantly know that they were loving it. Yes, the music is important, but also the crowd. And the crowd at Mayday 1994 were having it. And loved it. I only knew RMB of 'The Place To Be'. Never knew they were the same as the ones who released 'Spring'. So diverse. But in 1994 it was all Happy Hardcore/Hardcore. So sit back and enjoy the set. 01. RMB - Matisse 02. RMB - Experience 03. RMB - Chakka Chakka 04. RMB - Redemption 05. RMB - There's Love 06. RMB - Our Trip To Mururoa 07. RMB - The Place To Be The tracklist is short, but also their set is short. Only 15 minutes long. But within those 15 minutes you go from one high to the next. And ending with what is their biggest record ever (well, for me). The Place To Be. What an absolute monster of a track. Which Thunderdome did it appear on? I remember the cover being a skull of a dog. Was it Thunderdome 4? I never knew they even made Happy Hardcore! This mix has made me rethink music in general. This group, that made the dopest Hardcore track 'The Place To Be', made a few wicked Happy Hardcore anthems? My mind is blown. And they made 'Spring'! Seriously impressed. Their set was recorded, and you will find better quality audio recordings on Soundcloud, but for this I went to the Youtube video. Just to capture the atmosphere. And the atmosphere is good. And the music is just so beautiful! Especially 'Experience'. How come I've not heard this record before? One of the greatest Happy Hardcore anthems of all time! I don't want to continue talking, I want you all to embrace their set. Just press play man, press play! • Slavefriese - Base Hammer - Jason S Mix (2005)

Slavefriese. When I saw this mix being uploaded onto Soundcloud, it grabbed my attention. Why does this name ring a bell? And then it hit me: I did have a few compilations back in the early 00s with Slavefriese records on them. Do I still have those compilations? Nope. Well, I do, but they are on my hard drive. That sadly means that I only get to go on it whenever I'm bored of Soundcloud. But Soundcloud will never be boring, and it will provide me with continuous music, 24/7. And you get to hear forgotten gems, like this mix, made by mixmaster Jason S, back in 2005. Slavefriese, I thought he was Dutch, due to the word 'friese' in his name (Friesland anyone?). But he's German, and he had some successful records back in the early 00s. And what is astonishing, is the sound he created back then! It's a sound I've not heard in a while. It's a mash of several styles, a bit of Techno, a bit of Industrial, a bit of generic Hardcore, a bit of everything. But the main focus is the darker sound of course. I'm not saying I was a huge fan of Slavefriese, but I did like the music he created. Dark was my style during the early 00s. Didn't even know he released his own album! And that Jason S mixed the third disc. That's kind of cool, to be fair. We all know Jason S nowadays as the mix master, but even back in 2005 he killed it! Proper Hardcore, that's what you get on disc 3. Which you can find on Mixcloud (and also Soundcloud). Worth checking out? Yes! 01. Slavefriese - Quiet Intro 02. Slavefriese - Lost In The Vietkong Jungle 03. Slavefriese - On A Trip 04. Slavefriese - As Loud As Possible 05. Slavefriese - Ecstasy Me 06. Slavefriese - Plutonium Crackers 07. Slavefriese - Proper Cooperative Groove 08. Slavefriese - Utopia 09. Slavefriese - Move Your Body 10. Slavefriese - Greed Is Good 11. Slavefriese - When The Music Suck 12. Slavefriese - Hardcore You Know The ScXXX 13. Slavefriese - Base Hammer It was released back in 2005, and this mix is just spot on! This captures the sound which was 'common' back then. Sadly forgotten, but oh so damn good. This was the time before the whole Uptempo scene, this was industrial to the core. But do I prefer this sound? Yes. This was all in line with the time, and Slavefriese's records just hit the nail on the head. It was something new and refreshing. The first thing I noticed was the tracklist. The titles are just so funny. Normally you do get a sense of a specific style (Hardcore in general is a bit harder, and the titles do resemble that), but you've got one record focussed on ecstacy, the other about a base hammer, and plutonium is also thrown into the mix, and let's not forget the Vietkong! Mixes with titles like that cheer me right up. Don't know why. But they do. The music itself is good. It's not the full album, but you get a descent portion of the album. Jason S' mix is spot on, and for 51 minutes he takes you on a Slavefriese journey. There's nothing wrong with this mix. The records are good, the mixing is good. This takes me on a journey back to the early 00s, and I'm loving it. I'm going to check and see if Slavefriese's album is still available. Just, for the sake of it. I want it. • Minus The Crown - Rinse FM Mix - May 2019

Minus The Crown. A new duo in the UK Dance scene. If you look at the picture above and you don't know either of them, you have a lot to catch up on. Minus The Crown are Dougal and Joey Riot. Their latest adventure. I saw the messages a few weeks ago, and started following them, but I thought they were UK Hardcore only, but it turns out I was wrong, absolutely wrong. Joey and Dougal have got years of experience. I don't know how many decades combined, but together they make a successful duo. Both very passionate about music. If you think of UK Hardcore and you need to compose a top 10 list, I bet your ass that at least one of them is in it. Dougal has been on the forefront for decades: he was one of the first to make UK Hardcore massive, and Joey has been successful not just in the UK Hardcore scene, but also the Dutch Gabber scene, as one half of Destructive Tendencies. Was it an obvious choice for these legends to come together? Yes. But does it work out? Well, we are about to find out. On the 27th of May they were on Rinse FM, where Hixxy is a resident DJ. As a guest he had Minus The Crown, and their guestmix is on Soundcloud right now. Is it worth checking it out? 01. Joey Riot & Macks Wolf - Mystic Revolution 02. Re-Con & Squad-E - Why Does My Love (Arkangel Remix) 03. Prime Time Players - Don't Know How Make You Happy (Suae x Technikal Remix) 04. Dougal x Mike Reverie - Supercharged 05. Macks Wolf - Hit Em Like This 06. Da Tweekaz - Tequila (Minus The Crown Remix) 07. Minus The Crown - 4 In The Morning 08. Kelli-Leigh - I Can't Dance (Minus The Crown Remix) 09. Salvatore Ganacci - Horse (Tweekacore Flip) 10. Darren Styles & Dougal - Hold On 11. Minus The Crown - Praise You Minus The Crown 12. CLSM & Cube::Hard - See You On The Other Side (Joey Riot & Elov8 Remix) 13. Gareth Emery - Take Everything (Joey Riot vs Atom, Gee & Mikey P Flip) 14. The Prodigy - Voodoo People (Minus The Crown Flip) This is an unusual tracklist, isn't it? From The Prodigy to Salvatore Ganacci (isn't he the weird DJ from Tomorrowland?), you find everything in here. Including a few of their own collaborations, and also a really big tune I loved from the first moment I heard it. I'll just throw this out there: I'm not a fan of Tweekacore. But that's just a personal opinion. I'm not a fan of their extremely cheesy music. Many are fans, and I'm probably hitting them really hard with my comments about them, but I'm not a fan. I love a bit of cheese, but they are like blue cheese: smelly, and once opened it will stink the fridge out. And it will affect other food in the fridge. Not ideal. Maybe when you are wasted you might like it, but I just don't see the fuss in all their happiness. But what I do like, is Minus The Crown. They've made some good tunes, which you can find in here. But it's not their tracks that got me hyped the most: it has got to be 'Supercharged' that makes me moist the most. I'm loving the vibes, loving the authentic sound. Loving the vibes. Just love it a lot. Besides the Tweekacore tracks, I do like this mix. You get a bit of everything. Hard Dance, UK Hardcore, a bit of bounce, a bit of woop woop. Well, you get my drift. It's not your standard mix, and I love it. It's worth checking out, and also worth following Minus The Crown. • TCD TOP 5 13-06-2019

When I said this was going to be a bi-weekly item, I lied. It turns out I only do it once a month, so let's do this once a month, and if I don't follow it up, then we call it a day. But for now I've got 5 brilliant records from Youtube. The best location (besides Soundcloud) to find music. But this month it's going to be a tad weird, but would you have expected anything else from someone who has the word 'Crazy' in his blog title? Youtube has been my source for excellent music, music from my childhood. I grew up listening to literally everything. Never knew the meaning behind the lyrics (I never listen to the lyrics, must be a weird thing, a medical defect), but the whole picture is what grabbed me. Some records I listened to back then have got a deeper meaning, deeper than I expected. Suicide? Racism? Drug use? Messed up family? You might be wondering what kind of youth I had, listening to this darker music? Well, I think it's normal. But again, it's the whole picture that grabbed me, lyrics never got to me. But in 2019 a few songs hit me, and they hit me hard. Even the Spice Girls were singing about having sex, and I NEVER KNEW! Enjoy June's finest Youtube finds. These are my favourite records. Enjoy them, and hunt for your own favourite records. I'm guessing that Youtube must have a few for you, and it will be nostalgic. 1. PARIS - The Devil Made Me Do It (1990) 2. DJ Buzz Fuzz - Lighthouse Keeper (1998) 3. Rammstein - Mutter (2002) 4. The Horrorist - One Night In New York City (Uncensored) (2000) 5. Korn - Falling Away From Me (1999)

  • Kaotic-Ravers Volume 15 Mixed By DJ Brady (2019)

Gosh, how long has it been since I last heard a DJ Brady mix? It must have been a while, at least a few years. Which is obviously a shame. The other day he uploaded his latest mix, the 'Kaotic Ravers' mix, volume 15. I think I got tagged in a post on Facebook, but seeing as Facebook has been kind of a bellend lately and things disappear, I'm not entirely sure. But I'm guessing it was a post related to this mix. No matter what it was exactly, but I'd already discovered the mix on Soundcloud, and today I'm sharing the love for it. The fifteenth instalment of the Kaotic Ravers mix series. I don't know which KR mix I have reviewed before, but I think it was one of the first mixes. So we've come to number 15. What can you expect once you have pressed play? A nice mix containing UK Hardcore, Freeform, Powerstomp, and more. Records I have heard before, and some forgotten or unheard tunes. A nice mix containing records which are on fire. You will understand it if you press play. I dare you to do it! We used to get these kinds of mixes every week. Hell, sometimes every day you would find mixes on Soundcloud, but now it's a rarity. So when mixes like this one appear, it generally makes me happy. Unless the mixing is shit. Or the tracks are shit. But that's not the case here. Tracklist is a must see. So here it is: 01. DJ Brady - Intro 02. Transcend & Cyrax - High Skool 03. Scott Brown - How Many Sukkas (SynthWulf Remix) 04. Scott Brown - Do What Ya Like (Macks Wolf Remix) 05. Doug Horizon - DAW 06. Joey Riot & It-Man - Can't Hold Back (M-Project Remix) 07. Jakazid & DJ Shimamura feat Kyla - Feel The Energy 08. Fracus & Darwin - Floorburn (2017 Mix) 09. Unique - Rock Your Body 10. Joey Riot & It-Man - The Outside 11. CJR feat MC Oddball - Reminisce (Savage Mix) 12. Scott Brown - Commence (Jonny El Mix) 13. Sam B - Get Busy 14. Impact - Love The Music 15. Euphony & TST - Now Massive 16. Riko vs Brady - Pump It Up 17. Fracus - All Night (2017 Mix) 18. Darwin feat Ant Johnson - My Oxygen 19. CLSM - Hook, Line, Sinker 20. Scott Brown - Boomstick (Joey Riot Remix) Wow! So many great anthems in here. A lot Scott Brown records. A lot of Joey Riot records. DJ Brady just made me a happy bloke this Sunday morning! This is a brilliant mix to start off your Sunday morning. It might be chilly and it might be a bit boring, but let's change it all, and raise up the temperature by playing this out loud. I'm not going to bore you all with the weather and the predictions, so let's talk about the mix. DJ Brady has selected a nice bunch of records, and mixed them together in this hour and 13 minute long mix. In a way his mix reminds me of a few years ago, when you would find these everywhere online. Everyone made these mixes. This was the way forward. The music is good. We can all reminisce to the good old sound. Certain songs just sound so damn good, even after a few years. And have become classics. Well, to me. And I also like the fact that, even though he used a few Joey Riot and Scott Brown records, he still made it diverse. Sam B, CLSM, Impact, Unique, Doug Horizon, Riko, etc. You can find everything in here. Small mixing errors, but nothing major. Best record? 'Hook, Line, Sinker'. CLSM. Can't go wrong with CLSM. Get this right now! • Ilsa Gold @ Mayday 1994 - Rave Olympia/Dortmund (30-04-1994)

If there's one party I would have gone to, if I was old enough at the time, it would have been Mayday back in 1994. From 6 in the evening until 10 in the morning. Which party still does that, eh? And the line-up was truly astonishing. Let me name a few: DJ Dick, Carl Cox, Marusha, RMB, Franky Jones, Miss Djax, Gizmo, Westbam, Hardsequencer, Paul Elstak, Genlog, Laurent Garnier, LTJ Bukem, Bonzai All Stars, Hooligan, and many more. I know the Dutch were responsible for many things, including putting 'raving' on the map, but the Germans also knew how to throw a party. And Mayday is a good example of just that. I always thought that Ilsa Gold was a woman. Don't know why. But when I found this set the other day, I realised that my knowledge was limited. Ilsa Gold played back in 1994, only for 15 minutes. The line-up was so ridicilous, some acts were only 15 minutes long. And the longest sets were only 1 hour long! They crammed in as much as they could. So it might be short, but Ilsa Gold's set is pure solid. And it contains something I have not figured out yet, a storyline. I found this set on 'the free spirit's' Soundcloud, and I noted that there was too much talking, but he quickly told me that they were telling a story throughout the set. I reckon it has something to do with someone called Silke. But that's all. Does it really matter? Not for me. To me the thing that matters is the crowd's reaction to Ilsa Gold's set. My God, the noise they make, you don't hear that anymore. And this was all done during the years before the internet and mobile phones. Everyone was focussed on the music, not about likes, livestreams or anything similar. And you do hear that clearly throughout the 15 minute set. It will be the shortest set I've ever heard, but boy does it pack a punch! 01. Ilsa Gold - Intro 02. Ilsa Gold - Silke II - Suchtig 03. Ilsa Gold - Eggs (They See) 04. ID - ID 05. Ilsa Gold - Four Non Blondes Also probably the shortest tracklist I've ever written down. If anyone knows this unknown Gabber track, you can leave a comment and we will update the tracklist. It's Gabber, and it's good. Never knew the true meaning behind Ilsa Gold, and never knew they were from Austria, but those records they have made (the most famous ones of course) will remain timeless classics. Especially 'Four Non Blondes'. My God, when they start playing this, the crowd looses their fricking minds! Hear the screams coming through your speakers, and you will instantaneously get goosebumps. I know I did. This takes me back to the 90s. Full on raving, and nothing else. We lived in our own bubble, we were unstoppable. And the people at Mayday 1994 must have felt the same. Under appreciated by literally everyone, but those witnessing it, they loved it. The world did not matter, they were the world. Or even the universe. Nothing else mattered. Bills to pay? Going to work? All went out of the window, raving was the only cure to the sickness we call mankind. And boy, those 15 minutes were solid. Don't know where this is taken from, but I'm guesing from an oldskool cassette? The quality is obviously not the best, and halfway through it skips, but whatever the reason for this might be, I'm loving it. I'm loving the quirkiness, the intro, the tracks, their interpretation of ecstacy (eggs they see). It's just so 90s. I wish I was born a decade earlier and witnessed the birth of Rave music. Those who were there, they know the score. I jumped the gun too late, but still lived with it throughout the late 90s. Ilsa Gold's set is really entertaining, even though I don't know the meaning behind the story telling. What's the story about? Leave a comment below, so we can tell others and make them aware of the story relating to Silke. • Blasted to the Future (A Pearsall Promo for Blasted DNB Berlin) (2019)

I'm on Soundcloud every single day, but even I do miss a lot of new music. Thankfully there's an option there, to remind others that you have uploaded a new mix. And that's exactly what Pearsall has done. Otherwise this great mix might have passed by me without even being noticed. Which is a shame. If you like your music to be dark, edgy, and basically rough, Pearsall is your man. Famous for his brilliant underground styled mixes, he has made a promo mix for this event which is about to happen on Sunday, in Berlin. So if you are in Berlin and like your music to be dark and rough, go and see them at the Rigaer Strasse 103. Pearsall will be doing a B2B with Vali. He will be playing for 2 hours the finest music from 1992 til 1994. You like Euphoric Rave, and Early Jungle, and Breakbeat, and maybe even Happy Hardcore? Pearsall is your man. The insane thing is that he used vinyl for this mix. Don't know if he's going to do the same this Sunday, but if it is as good as this promo mix, you will be in for a treat. No offense to others, but Pearsall's mixes always deliver, hence why I was a happy person when he told me about the existance of this promo mix. And now I'm gutted I'm not in Berlin. Never ever been to Berlin, but that's another story. Check this tracklist out! Again, all vinyl only! 01. Techno Brewster & DJ Iceman - Dream On Tangerine 02. Wax Doctor - Another Direction 03. The Pharmacist - Zero Hour 04. DJ Freshtrax - Version Excursion 05. MC Lethal - The Rave Digger 06. Top Buzz - Living In Darkness ('93 Remix) 07. DJ Kev - Happy Trax Volume 2 (Side B) 08. Tom & Jerry - B.O.S. Realting 09. Life On Mars - Volume 2 (Side A1) 10. Krome & Time - Virtual Reality 11. JMJ & Richie - Hall Of Mirrors 12. The Bookworm - Listen 13. SMD - SMD#6 (The Bell Tune) 14. Crowd Pleasers - Volume Two (Side B) 15. Heartless - Lifted 16. Higher Level - High Spirits 17. Future Primitive - Lift Me Up (Slammin' Vinyl Remix) 18. DJ Force & The Evolution - Lost It 19. Ironik - The Calling 20. Luna-C - Death Of A Psychopath (Nasenbluten Remix) 21. Vertigo - Deep Cover 22. Metronome - Warning 23. DJ Crystl - The Dark Crystl 24. Peshav - On The Firm 25. 4 Horsemen Of The Apocalypse - Drowning In Her (Remix) 26. DJ Gwange - Motionless 27. DJ Fokus - Untitled 28. DJ Crystl - Your Destiny 29. Swift & Zinc feat Steve B - The Secret 30. DJ Pulse & Alex Reece - Kudos See, this tracklist is so good, but also so weird to me. The majority of names do ring a bell, but where the hell has he found all these underground beasts? I've not heard the majority of these, didn't even knew they existed! His collection must be impressive. Mister Pearsall's mixes (well, the ones I've reviewed and listened to before) are all vinyl only, but to find these 1992 - 1994 records and to get these on vinyl, must have been a struggle. But worth a struggle. What a beast of a mix. Seriously sick. Also very interested for the music choice: it's all a bit dark, but yet also different. He touches several styles/genres, and the blend is astonishingly beautiful. But I did not expect anything less from this wizard behind the decks. I've got only credits to hand out to Pearsall. Yet another beautiful mix. With a lot of unknown records. And that's what I needed to hear. Sadly I can't go to Berlin, but if you are near, I would suggest you pay the location a visit, and see Pearsall play. He always hit the nail on the head with his mixes. He never, and I do mean never, disappoints. What can I say? A grandiose mix. Nothing more to add really. • Maynor @ Ouwe Stijl is Botergeil 13 - 02 - 2016

As you are familiar with my website, you all know that I'm an early Hardcore/Oldskool fanatic. I do love it, as much as I love Smarties (and boy, do I love them!). The other day I came across a remix of a record I had on a compilation called Earthquake, and it was a remix of 'Shaftman'. I quickly traced it back to the early 90s and tried to find it on Youtube or Soundcloud. And on SC it linked it to a mix I'd not seen or heard before, a liveset by Maynor, recorded back in 2016 at the majestic Ouwe Stijl Is Botergeil. Now, I do like Shaftman for its quirkiness and stupidity, but when I saw the tracklist, it made me a happy bunny. Finally a mix with obscure records I've not heard in a while. No bullshit, just plain Hardcore to the bone. A bit of Hardcore, and a bit of Terror. Who doesn't want to hear that on a dreary Wednesday evening? I couldn't say no, seeing as it has two of my favourite things: Ouwe Stijl (which is an event I would really visit) and Early Hardcore. You will understand why I'm hyped up, and anticipate this mix to be good. Just glance at the tracklist and you will see why this sparked my attention. How often have you heard these bad boys, eh? Mention to me the date you last heard any of these records, and if so, it's not that often. These are underrated classics, and a good selection by Maynor. 01. Raveman - Spaceman (1.9.8. Mix) 02. Riot Nation - Abba-Gabba (Speedfreak Mutterficker Massaker) 03. Rottencore - Ouwe Stijl Is Botergeil (Maynor Remix) 04. Thundergods From Asgard - Bustin' Walls 05. Party Animals - Misadventures Of The Spiegelman (Part 1) 06. Delta 9 - Son Of A Bitch 07. Nasenbluten - Blows T' The Nose 08. The Shaftman - Shaftman 09. DJ Dano - Starting Up 10. R. Wagner - Wicked Jungle 11. Beagle - To Bettel 12. R. Wagner - Final Revolution 13. The Destroyer - My Brain Is Sick (Panik Mix) 14. Johnfaustus - Putain De Francais 15. The Riotudder - Flame On The Brain 16. Deterrent Man - Gabba 4 Ya Mutha See! I told you, didn't I? How often do you see tracks like these in mixes, eh? I've not heard these anthems in a while, and Maynor even surprised me with a few records I'd not heard of before, like the part 1 of 'Misadventures Of The Spiegelman'. Never knew there even was a part 1. He selected obscure records. If I was there, I would have stomped my feet so hard on the floor, raised my hands so high in the air, and moved by body so violently, I would have burst open my hernia. You might wonder why? Well, there's a simple reason for this: I really like this music. To have selected these records for your set only gets you credit from me. The set is only 43 minutes long, but still highly enjoyable. It does contain a few cross fading mistakes, but if you don't focus on those sections, the set is actually highly enjoyable (as I said a few words ago). You cannot play a Early set without ending with some Terror, and that's exactly what Maynor has done. A good ending to a good set. Check it out right now, if you like your Hardcore to be early, and underrated too. • C-KAY Classic FW Mix 2016

What ever happened to Future World Records? I've just gone and Discogs them, and it was created back in the late 2000s, and they were really awesome! But after trying to go onto their website, it showed me a dodgy Chinese Ebay-like webpage? The label was created by Mark Breeze, and has some success with their music, and were on top of things, especially when Dubcore made its way to the mainstream UK Hardcore scene. I know it was a love/hate relationship: some really appreciated it, and some hated it. But no matter what your opinion was, they did release wicked anthems. And now it looks like the label doesn't exist anymore? They had massive success, and I know it's a personal opinion, but I really liked what was released on the label. So much great music. Genuinely the music I wanted UK Hardcore to be. A bit of the old with a bit of the new. And now it's gone. Please, can someone revive this label? C-Kay did this mix, celebrating him being linked to the label for 3 years. It's an underrated mix, if truth be told. I think I did review it before, but the website got revamped, and I lost all the old stuff. So here it is. 3 years ago these tunes rocked the dancefloors all over the UK. Why does time fly by so darn quickly? Can someone build a time-slowing machine, and let us appreciate music longer? 01. Re-Con - Loki's Theme 02. Darren Styles & Re-Con - Sober 03. Mark Breeze - Rise Again 04. Modulate feat MC Reynolds - Still Breathing 05. Dougal & Gammer - Mix Your Sex 06. Petruccio feat MC Whizzkid - Sick 07. Styles & Breeze - Sonic 2010 08. Petruccio & Modulate feat Mark Slammer - High On You 09. Darren Styles - Xfer 10. Tyl3r & Reynolds - Dive In 11. Tyl3r feat MC Static - Fight 12. Mark Breeze - Trying To Reach You 13. Modulate - Re-Loop 14. Dougal & Gammer - Float Away 15. Jakka B - Jump UP 16. Gammer & Michael Scout - Bye Bye This tracklist made me wonder: what ever happened to the majority of these artists? We all know what happened with Darren Styles and Gammer, but Petrucctio, Mark Breeze, Tyl3r, Re-Con, Modulate, Dougal? They've all gone a bit quiet, when back in the days they were on our timelines nearly every day! We need to revive these golden days! I know I do like to reminisce to the past, but for me it's important. Not sure which direction UK Hardcore is heading towards, but shall I be patient and just see where it goes, or stick in the past and listen to the good tunes that made me a happy bunny? I'd rather stick in the past, present day music will be 'classic' anthems in the near future anyway. I might be late jumping the band wagon, but it's never too late to hallucinate, eh? C-Kay's selection is awesome, and the mix is tight. No mistakes, and only big anthems. It starts with the catchiest tune of them all, and the flow continues throughout the mix. Can't believe these tunes are already 'old'. The best tune has got to be 'Fight'. When I heard it a few years back for the first time, the lyrics really got to me, and the melody stayed in my head for quite a while. I really like this music, and I do miss this generic sound. C-Kay's mix is really what we are after on this sunny Sunday morning/afternoon. BBQ anyone? Make sure you got your 'Beats by Dr Phil' speaker ready, and blast out these anthems. • Rotterdam Terror Corps @ MAYDAY ''Making Friends'' 2015

The legendary Rotterdam Terror Corps, who doesn't recognize them? Who did not have something with their logo on it during the 90s? Be it a bomber jacket, a t-shirt, or for those die-hard fanatics: a tattoo? I had a few RTC items, and I still own a t-shirt that came with an album. Can't remember which album it was,. but what I do know is that the t-shirt is absolutely fucked. Well, that's what you get if something is 20 years old. But not RTC, they are still as fresh as they were in the 90s. Back in 2015 they played at the mighty Mayday event in Dortmund, on the 30th of April. And only today I found their set. Maybe it was because I wanted to hear something made by RTC, and I stumbled across this mix. It's only 30 minutes long, but within those 30 minutes you do get the fearsome power you would expect from RTC. Not the 90s all-time classics, but their latest tunes (well, as they were back in 2015). And as vital as their sets were back in the 90s, they still bring the force, the power. There's no way you are sitting through this set without moving a body part. RTC's livesets are famous. And so is their music. The majority of fans love their early stuff the most, and prefer that over everything. But truth be told, the records in this set are really top notch, and are really what I wanted to hear today. Hard, rough, and the Rotterdam sound we all love and appreciate. So which tunes can you expect in this set? Well, here's the tracklist: 01. Rotterdam Terror Corps & Paul Elstak - Time To Kill vs Skull Dominion (2013 Rmstrd Mix) 02. Rotterdam Terror Corps & Dione - Survivors 03. Paul Elstak vs The Dark Twins feat Profane - Thru Your Head (Fixed By Offensive Hardcore) 04. Rotterdam Terror Corps - Destiny 05. Rotterdam Terror Corps - Troublemaker (The BeatKrusher Remix) 06. SRB vs Rotterdam Terror Corps - Dirty Bastards 07. SRB vs Distortion - No Aces 08. Distortion & MC R.A.W. vs Bass-D & King Matthew - Raveworld I have to say that I only knew the last record well enough, the others might have passed the revue, but they weren't really known to me. So when I heard this set and heard those beats coming through the speakers and nearly destroying my eardrums, I know I pressed play on the right liveset. Fuck me, this set is hard. RTC did their best to 'make friends' in Dortmund. And his German phrase to put their hands up, yes, you hear that continuously throughout this set. But it's the music I'm focussing this review on. And the music is as rough as you can get it. And funnily enough, it's not annoyingly hard or rough. Just perfect. Like what they did during the 90s: their music was hard, fast, sometimes melodic, but what you really wanted (and got) were feet stomping records. No trancey sounding records, no fucking about, you needed to let yourself go, and stomp those feet on the ground. RTC were and still are extremely good at that. That is what attracks me to their music. Just no nonsense Hardcore. I've never had the pleasure to see them live (or maybe I did, but let's not forget that certain years of the 90s were a haze to me, I was mostly drunk), but I would like to see them perform. Their energetic vibe can be felt through the speakers. You might not see the pretty ladies, but you can hear the madness being created. Which record is my favourite? Well, 'Troublemaker'. A really good record. A bit melodic, but not too long. Just perfect. And with a catchy chorus you know you have got a winner. A fantastic set. It might be 4 years old, but it still as fresh as I am. Underrated set, worth checking it out if you like Hardcre/Gabber from Rotterdam. You won't be disappointed. • Chosen Few @ Ghosttown 2015

Who doesn't know Ghosttown? This massive Hardcore focussed event has been on people's minds for many years, and have gained quite the following. Year after year they have created the finest atmospheres for the raving masses, and back in 2015 they had a killer line-up, including the following names, and before I name them, you might need a tissue, because you will have an orgasm. Here are a few names: Panic, Darkraver, AniMe, Dyprax, JDA, Headbanger, Destructive Tendencies, Rob, Bountyhunter, Delirium, MD&A, Lancinhouse & Jappo, Painbringer, Partyraiser, and of course Chosen Few. Why did I say of course? Well, it would be weird not to name him, when this review is all about his set at Ghosttown. Why did I want to hear this? Or even review this? Because I wanted to hear smething by him, Chosen Few. This DJ and producer has got this distinctive sound that is recognisable. You do know within second if a track is made by Chosen Few or not. And for his set at Ghosttown he decided to play shitloads of his own productions, and a few by his fellow DJ friends. The tracklist was the main focus for me, but it does have a few gaps: if anyone does know these tracks, please comment below, and we will add the missing bits. Before I start yapping about God knows what, let's focus on the music. Here's the tracklist. 01. ID - ID 02. Unknown Artist - Hide U (Remix) 03. Chosen Few - Chosen Paradise 04. Chosen Few - Kold Dayz 05. Chosen Few - The Break 06. Chosen Few - All You Motherfuckers 07. Chosen Few - Name Of The DJ 08. Turntable Disciples - Vortex 09. ID - ID 10. Turntable Disciples - Da Baddest 11. Brain Acardy - Wayz Of Da Underground 12. DJ Promo - Cold As Stone 13. ID - ID 14. Da Predator - Knuckleheadz 15. Wedlock vs Predator - Get On Down 16. Predator - Da Only Ones Left 17. Trypticon - Mixmasta 18. DJ Wicked - Flying In The Air He had to play his own records of course. Without a shadow of a doubt a set would be weird without his biggest hits, including the monster hit 'Name Of The DJ'. Be it the original or the Buzz Fuzz remix (which is also a fanfuckingtastic record), he has to play it. A genre defining record. A true statement to the gabbers from the 90s. I was too young of body, but I felt it. I knew that this record was going to be timeless, and still in 2019 it packs a punch. He has selected really interesting records, and on the mic we've got MC Joe. And it does work extremely well. I got a genuine 90s vibe throughout this set. And even though it was mixed using CDJs and not vinyl, it was still a rocking set. I think we've gone pass the stage where we talk about the fantastic sound of the crackling records: we just want to hear the music. And preferably in 1411kbps, not 12kbps lol. I've really enjoyed this set, and I think you should feel the same. Proper 90s vibes. And of course to hear 'Name Of The DJ', that's just a simple yes, yes, YES! Chosen Few's all time classic. A set cannot be finished without it. And when you hear those familiar cords, you know shit is about to happen! Enjoy it. No free download, but that's ok: we've got the repeat button! • Mauro Picotto Live @ Trance Energy - 17-02-2001

Have I ever been to Trance Energy? I reckon I have, but can't recollect the night. I've been a lot of times drunk, and especially around the end of the 90s and beginning of the 2000s I was raving everywhere, and in the back of my mind I have been to a Trance Energy event, but can't remember a single thing. Was it that good, or was I too damn wasted? Whatever it was, it's still an event that holds memories: it was during the heydays of Trance music. For me the early 2000s were the best, music wise. And whenever you talk about Trance Energy, it's always with fond memories. The other day I was listening to several Innercity sets (another wicked event by ID&T), and something inside of me triggered a feeling. I needed to hear something Trance related. And quickly I landed on Soundcloud, and found a set by a pioneer, Mauro Picotto! He's one of my favourite Italian producers and DJs of all-time. And if you were old enough when he ruled the world during the early 2000s, you know exactly what I'm talking about. According to the female announcer, it's Mauro Popocino? Cringe-worthy moment, how can you mess up the introduction of such a big name? The male announcer does Mauro justice, but the 'Popocino' introduction just makes me want to vomit. But Mauro does not sit still: he dives straight into the music. And so shall we. Because Mauro, the legend, does not need an introduction! The set contains the BEST records released during the Millennium years. He was on top of things, and with several hits in the top charts all over Europe, he was the king. And his music has not aged at all. It's still dark, edgy, uplifting , and bascially everything you needed when you wanted to hear good music. He's a wizard. Picotto or Popocino, whoever was behind the decks at Trance Energy, he did a magestic thing! 01. Joy Kitikonti - Agrimonyzer 02. Mauro Picotto - Baguette (Original Mix) 03. Mario Piu - Mathmos 04. Mauro Picotto - Like This Like That (Tea Mix) 05. Mauro Picotto - Like This Like That (Megavoices Mix) 06. Saccoman - The Recall (Picotto Answer Mix) 07. John Thomas - Undisputed Life (Technasia Mix 2) 08. Megamind - Taub? (Picotto Mix) 09. Adam Beyer - Drumcode 2 (Marco Carola Mix) 10. Sonus Terrarum - Sacrifice (Secundus Mix) 11. L-X-Carbo - Dance Of The Crazy (Blue Pill Mix) 12. Thomas Krone - Shockabuku (Vol. 1) (B-Side) 13. Mauro Picotto - Verdi 14. Mario Piu a.k.a. DJ Arabesque - The Vision (Vision 1 Mix) 15. Mauro Picotto - Lounge/Pegasus Intro 16. Mauro Picotto - Komodo/Save A Soul (Picotto's Private) 17. Mauro Picotto - Pulsar 18. Joy Kittikonti - Energizer (Psico Mix) 19. Joman - Raggattack (Attack Mix) 20. Mauro Picotto - Freetown 21. Mauro Picotto - Like This Like That (3AM Mix) 22. Mauro Picotto - Promixus (Megavoices Claxxix Mix) If this is Heaven, I'm a happy man. I'm a huge music lover, but this music style is so damn good, I would trade anything in the world to hear this kind of music again. Especially how it sounded back in 2000s. And mixed obviously by the finest DJs in the world. Vinyl baby, all the way. I'm a fan of Mauro. Don't know why I'm not sure what he's currently doing, music wise, but when he ruled the world I adored him. Bought every single ever, and listened to everything mixed by him (livesets or you name it). Every compilation I bought had records by him on it, and it made me a happier person. Why does the music need to change drastically, constantly? Why not be happy with the sound and keep it alive for as long as possible? I've not heard anything similar being released in the 10s. This is the Millennium sound. The dark and edgy Mauro is what tickled me the most. 'Verdi', fucking hell, how he made this track is just beyond belief! So dark, this tore Techno a new hole! Not only have I listened to his set, but also visited his Soundcloud page, and found records he made around 2000s, and the smile it created could be seen from the moon and beyond. This might have been a bit rougher than your usual Trance, but so highly enjoyable. It brought the best of both worlds together: heavenly music and ground stomping beats and basses. Mauro is a legend, and this set just shows how good he was at Trance Energy. Still not sure if this was the event I was at, but hey, it does give me goosebumps hearing it on Soundcloud. Mauro is the underrated king of Hard Trance. Name one that can beat him? • C.J. Bolland @ Obsession - World Systems (20-11-1993)

Let the flyer speak for itself. To many ravers the early 90s (or even the late 80s) is when everything happened. The most memorable events took place then, not now. And that's got nothing to do with the music, but the atmosphere. When Obsession happened, the music scene was slowly growing, but it happened so rapidly, no-one was prepared for it. Still a new and exciting quest, these parties might have looked very basic and 'cheap' compared to a present day rave, but for the organisers and the ravers this was just enough. Raves were about to express yourself. The focus was mainly on the ravers and the DJ, and people did let themselves go. And all that without a mobile phone! This was the era before the mobile phones, so the genuine screams are heard not because of Snapchat demanding it, or Facebook Live requires it: it was because of the music and the DJ. tThis party happened back in 1993, which is now 26 years ago. Can you Adam and Eve it? Of course this being the 90s you were able to get the sets recorded on cassette packs, and there are a few out there, if you are interested: DJ Sy, Ellis Dee, Destruction, Easygroove, Mike C, DJ Peer, and of course the Belgian Techno pioneer C.J. Bolland. I've seen the name before and heard music here and there, but never heard an actual set by him, especially a set from the early 90s. During the 90s Techno was my thing, but trust C.J. Bolland to use obscure underground records during his set. This liveset is nearly an hour and a half long, so you do get a good understanding of what happened at Obsession. But it's not only C.J. Bolland you hear. So sit back and let's take a ride, back to 1993. 01. The Source Experience - Elektra 02. Radiation - Meltdown (Richie Hawtin South Of Detroit Dub) 03. Vainqueur - Lyot (Maurizio Mix) 04. Luke Slater - Moave Violin 05. Slam Trax - Blow Acid 06. Drax - Section 2 07. Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde - Midex 08. Electronic Experienced - No. 303 09. DJ Tom & Norman - Tales Of Mystery 10. Sonic Infusion - Magnifica 11. Magnetic Two - Boom Level 12. C.J. Bolland - Spring Yard 13. Azid Force - Breakattack 14. Thunderball - Bonzai Channel One 15. Jones & Stephenson - The First Rebirth 16. Unknown Structure - Theme From Unknown Structure/Helixcoid 17. Pergon - Jungle Love 18. Faith 7 - Phuturistic Noize Generation (B) I have to mention that this set is not only C.J. Bolland's set, but also Destruction's set (well, bits of it). But my focus is on his set. He's a Techno legend, and has been quiet over the last couple of years, according to Wikipedia. But he deserves a short break, he's been in the scene for a very long time. Think about it, 1993. I was only 10 years old. Don't know how old you are (the reader), but C.J. Bolland was already playing at big events, and I just got out of my nappies. I was still green behind the ears. And he played in front of thousands of ravers. I wish I was born earlier, and had some talent. I was a bit disappointed during this set. Normally I'm not that picky and will say nothing about a few 'mistakes', but there are really a lot of them in here. I wouldn't have expected it from C.J. Bolland. Truth be told, it was all on vinyl, which must have been a struggle, but I've heard better sets from 1992/1993. The tracks he has selected are good, but the mixing is all over the place. And that's a disappointment. I wish I was old enough to experience this event and others similar. Maybe it was different to hear this when you were there. But to hear this in 2019 via Soundcloud, the magic does not come across. Best record? 'The First Rebirth'. DJ: C.J. • TCD TOP 5 18-05-2019

We are trying something new. Something exciting. Or maybe just plain stupid. It has been done before, on millions of websites, but TCD has never jumped the bandwagon. Now the time has changed, and I think it's important that we start it today. Our Top 5 list, containing the finest records TCD could find on the world wide web. And the first edition of our (bi) weekly list will focus on my favourite songs/CDs/mixes on YouTube, the world's biggest platform for music, and other bullshit. We all know what YouTube is, and we have all spent at least a few hours a week, watching videos on YouTube, or even making videos. I'm not a YouTuber, I don't like videoing myself: you wouldn't ask Quasimodo to do a selfie, do you? And what to say? I've got nothing to say, my life is as boring as you would expect it. I only use YouTube for my own entertainment, and music is the main focus. So what can you expect in this list? Well, it's not the top 5 records you will find on the charts right now. Or could be. Maybe it does contain records which are hot now, or were back in 1989, or were never hot, and are obscure. Maybe you've never even seen or heard of this video before, and only because of TCD you are made aware of it. And that's exactly what I want to do. I want you to know the 5 records that are doing it for me right now. It could be literally everything. From Hardcore Techno to Trance, from Drum & Bass to Mellow, from Jazz to Speedcore. Whatever floats my boat. I've got weird moments when I go on YouTube, and sometimes my whole search history contains for example 'Jazz' music, but the week after I'm back into the Gabber world. I'm not predicatble. So will I explain each record and what it does to me? Nope. I will certainly not. These records are ALL my favourites of this week. Next week (or the week after) my list will contain maybe still the same records, or different ones. All that might change. It still a concept I'm really trying here now, it could be a flop. Or it could just work. We don't know. We will try, and hopefully succeed. 1. Gab - You Better Watch Yourself (Happy Hardcore) 2. 4 Tune Fairytales - My Little Fantasy (Bass-D & King Matthew Remix) (Happy Hardcore) 3. Da Goose - Men Of Steel (Techno) 4. Pino D'Ambino feat Beasty Boy - Do It (Hektik) (Hardcore) 5. Sefa & Nosferatu - Killer Beat (Uptempo Hardcore) Let us know in the comments if this section is worth it, or extremely boring. We do listen to feedback, so if this only reaches 3 people and no-one else, we will not commence any longer. But if this could bloom into something beautiful, we will and shall continue. We would also listen to suggestion, maybe a different top 5 every so often, or maybe focus on one style each time? Your rules, your game.

  • Essential Freeform 2019 - Mixed By Hedonistik Ritual

I know, I know. Only a few days ago I mentioned that it's rather quiet in the Freeform world, and long and behold: another epic Freeform mix is up on Soundcloud! This time it's by Hedonistik Ritual, a fairly 'new' face in the scene, with already a few amazing records under his belt. A few of these anthems you can find in this mix, made by Hedonistik Ritual himself. And this mix also includes the best Freeform record of 2019, or maybe of EVER. Which track am I talking about? You'll just have to wait and see. I did meet him a few years ago, in Bournemouth, and he was a full on raver. Me? I was a wasted raver, drunk as hell (even slept standing up on the train to London). But he was passionate about Freeform, and after he turned to the decks, he also turned to producing. His records are released on big labels, and he has collaborated with one of the biggest names in the scene: Transcend. I was wrong, saying that Freeform is rather quiet. It turns out 2019 is a good year for the scene. Not many parties happening, but music wise the quality has risen to a tremendous level. No cheap skate music producing artists, only the finest are selected, and remain respected. And Hedonistik Ritual, who's name sounds like a medical term for receiving an enema (trust me, that's really unpleasant), is one of those names you need to look out for. Tracklist. Yes! 01. Alek Szahala - Ashurnishishi (Substanced Remix) 02. Hyphen - Levival 03. Hedonistik Ritual - Desecration 04. Transcend - Immortal Knowledge 05. Substanced - Jade 06. Transcend & Hedonistik Ritual - Organism 07. Kokomochi - Nautilus 08. Hedonistik Ritual - Free The World 09. Transcend - Neural 10. Faithless - We Come One (Moonrock Remix) 11. Kokomochi - Level 6 12. Rikki Arkitech - A.I.Danger A proper Freeform tracklist. With a lot of repetative names like himself, Kokomochi (who is he/she? never heard of the artist before), and of course the mighty Transcend. And Substanced. Now, we are getting there, to the best record ever. 'Jade', released on Energy Field, is such a monster anthem. Whoever this Jade is he wrote this for, she must be very special. This uplifting record has grabbed me by my balls and hasn't let me go at all. This is Freeform at its best. So pure, so good, so Substanced. He and Transcend are my favourite Freeform producers of all time. I have to give Hedonistik Ritual also credit for his contribution to the scene: the records he has made are of extremely good quality. You hear his passion and dedication for Freeform, and it has led up to absolute monster tracks. My favourite HR track? 'Free The World'. A flawless mix. Thanks Hedonistik Ritual for bringing back my passion for Freeform. I need more of these mixes. 2019 is a good year for Freeform. We need to give it a big boost. This needs to be played at big events, by big names, played to thousands of ravers. Freeform deserves it! Fuck me, 'Jade' is still an epic song. • Intents Festival 2019 | FANATICZ | Warm Up Mix by Melvje

At the end of this month, to be precise the 31st of May, until the 2nd of June, a massive party is held in the Netherlands, Oisterwijk, or should I have written it the other way around, Oisterwijk, Netherlands? Anyway, you are all aware of Intents Festival, and the line-up is literally something extraordinary! So many areas, so many artists. Let me name just a few, can't just type the whole artist line-up: D-Block & S-Te-Fan, Isaac, Phuture Noize, Sub Zero Project, Angerfist, N-Vitral, Pat B, Jason Payne, Luminite, Unresolved, Requiem, Sefa, Ncrypta, MYST, Mark With A K, Keltek, and more. I hear you thinking: shall I go? Well, you should. If you like raving and you like tents. That's what this event is all about. Partying in tents. Sleeping in tents. Tents. Tents everywhere. Nothing more, nothing less. And those negative comment spreading people, it's all a joke. This is obviously one of the most hyped events of the year. And the line-up is truly astonishing. As we say in the Netherlands 'voor ieder wat wils'. But if you didn't get any tickets during the pre-sale, I think you might not be able to get tickets at all: I've just checked Partyflock and it looks like it's all sold out. Maybe next year, eh? Melvje, the Hardstyle/Rawstyle fanatic, has made this promo mix for Intents, containing the sickest records money could buy. And when I say sick, boy, I do mean sick. It's a mix you certainly need to check out, and if you are going to Intents, let this mix be the one that gets you all the way up to heaven, and beyond. 01. Riot Shift - Vision Of Disorder (Intents Edit) 02. Riot Shift - From The Grave 03. Delete - Lunatic 04. Mind Dimension & Rooler - Nothing 05. Chris One - Mind Of A Killer 06. Delete - Syndrome (Chris One Remix) 07. Apexx - Escape The System 08. Rejecta - Rise Of Rejecta 09. Bass Chaserz feat Evelien van Buren - Dusk Till Dawn 10. Clockartz - Party Don't Stop 11. Level One - Never Hesitate 12. Malice - Be The One 13. Malice - Take It Off 14. Malice & Ncrypta - Schizophrenia 15. Ncrypta - Superstar 16. The Machine - Smash 17. JNXD - Fuck Shit Up 18. Deetox - Inside My Head 19. Prefix & Density - I'm On My Way 20. Act Of Rage - Alpha Rebel x Grown Up 21. Killshot & Ncrypta - Uppercut 22. Killshot - Beastmode 2.0 23. Ava Max - Sweet But Psycho (DJ Thera Core Mix) I don't know how Meljve (New Account) finds these absolute monster tracks, but whenever he makes a mix, it always delivers! And this mix isn't an exception. This contains the finest. And I'm not joking. I think it also has the record in it that might destroy stages all over the world. Normally I would build up towards a 'favourite' record, but I couldn't hide it from anyone. It's 'Dusk Till Dawn' by Bass Chaserz feat Evelien van Buren. Fuck me sideways, what a brilliant melodic Hardstyle anthem! You should definately check this one out. I'm truly in love with this kind of Hardstyle. Euphoric is the way forward. I cannot control my body when I hear this record! Why Meljve have you selected this record? This record has made my brain go into hyperspace! Still ranting about 'Dusk Till Dawn'. The version you can find on Soundcloud is a tad slower: the sped up version Melvje is using is just perfect. God, I'm hyperventilating right now. I want to raise my hands in the air and wave all the negativity surrounding me goodbye. And I want fireworks. Don't think that's acceptable in my house. Could try. Not only is this record the absolute pinnacle of Hardstyle, but so are all the other tracks selected by Melvje. He slowly builds towards a rough end, but throughout this 50 minute long mix you are treated to the finest records, music you will certainly hear at Intents Festival. Melvje, you are pure gold. Your Soundcloud channel is a bliss. And this is yet another mesmefuckingrizing mix! And it's got Dusk Till Dawn. That's the creme de la creme. Or however you spell it. Oh, and it's also a free download! • What Is Dead May Never Die - Mixed By Solution (2019)

Before we begin, let's just talk briefly about the title of this mix. 'What is dead may never die'? What the actual fuck? I know Freeform is an underground movement, but this title has got to be one of the darkest ones I've ever encountered as a reviewer! This is dark, and yet the music is heavenly! Obviously I do not expect mixes to be called 'fluffy pirate punching melon-mix' or 'mr Kipling's finest sweety record-mix', but this is dark. Is there a hidden message behind this all, one I'm completely missing? Anyway, let's talk about the mix. And we'll dive straight into it. It's Freeform. A bit of everything, old or new, you can find it in here. A bit of UK Freeform, and a bit of Finnish Freeform (a.k.a. FINRG). And I love the fact that Solution has selected a wide variety of artists: Oli G, Marc Smith, Substanced, Carbon Based, Endemic, Alek Szahala, Lost Soul, Transcend, and more. Solution is a Freeform legend. Last saw him at BMH (was it Birmingham or Bournemouth, can't remember). Can't even remember the whole set, I was drinking the bar empty. But Solution is amongst the legends of the scene, he's a wonderful DJ, and with this dark titled mix he shows that he's on top of it, as ever. He's not lost it, and he will remain Freeform forever. The tracklist, yep, that would be handy, wouldn't it? 01. Transcend - Astral Projection 02. DJ Rx - Code Of Silence 03. Lost Soul - Singularity 04. Endemic - Loki 05. Duncan Oatham - Push The Tempo (Lost Soul Remix) 06. Alek Szahala - Alanamra 07. Effigy, Sano & K Complex - Virtual Reality 08. Carbon Based - Anger Ball (Kevin Energy Remix) 09. Innerspace - Twisted Metal 10. Douglas feat Rhona - FM220 (Endemic Remix) 11. Endemic - The Chosen 12. Solution & Ephexis - Elements 13. Transcend - Shiva 14. Adaptive, Onslaught & K Complex - Civilisations End 15. Carbon Based - Cyclone (Sinthetic Remix) 16. Alek Szahala - Lumi (Kevin Energy Remix) 17. Transcend & Cyrax - Unleashed (Substanced Remix) 18. Substanced - Coordinates 19. Marc Smith & Darwin - Cut The Midrange 20. Substanced - Oneiroi 21. Marc Smith - Boom & Pow 22. Shanty, Tazz & Concept - Beast Of Hardcore 23. Oli G & Speedy B - Lazarou 24. Stereotype - Out Of This World See, I told you this tracklist is a beast. I did, didn't I? No, I didn't, but now you know it's a beast. And I'd already shared it among my Dutch friends at Partyflock: there's a forum on which one of the topic is about Freeform/UK Hardcore, and whenever I see a mix (with a tracklist) good enough to be shared, I will do that. Solution's mix is nicely balanced, and towards the end of the mix it all becomes harder and rougher. But he has not forgotten to play some extremely melodic Freeform. And mixes like this one re-light the spark, the love for Freeform. It's rare to find Freeform mixes nowadays, it's like it's slowly fading into obscurity. A few years ago we would hear a ton of mixes every week, and now it's every so often. So a mix like this one is definately a treat. I just love the quality of the tunes he has selected. You know immediately that the tunes are good, because they are made by the finest artists. I've got no criticism at all. The mix is dope, the mixing is dope, and the tunes are dope. Can't remember when the last time I reviewed a Solution mix, but I guess it has been as good as this one. Never disappoints me, this man! Well, maybe one critical thing to mention: the size of this mix! It's 0.98 GB! Fuck me, I know it's big, but this big? • Relapse - M.I.A. (2019)

Have I got an album now to review! It's one of those albums you definately need to check out before you die. And it's not out yet, so you cannot join the bandwagon. I'm sorry, but this is a preview, not a review. You've got to wait a couple of weeks for it to be released on Oblivion Underground Recordings. But when it gets released, it will cause a storm. Not a shit storm, or the storm we had today, but a good storm. Well, before we dive into the album, I have to come clean: the name Relapse did not ring a bell at first. But that's no big thing. This album is my first introduction into this UK DJ and producer, who's debut album will be released on the 21st of this month, and if that's not enough: a launch party in my hometown on the 18th. So this album is going to be big, right? Yes. Anyone who has a launch party is going to be big. But what can you hear on the album? A mix of literally everything hard: Hardcore, Industrial Hardcore, Grime, Hip-Hop, Crossbreed, Techno, and more. Don't get me wrong, the main focus is Hardcore/Industrial (or Downtempo), but you do get bits and bobs here and there of other styles, blending in nicely with the main gist of this album. For this album (which is called M.I.A., after my grandmother Mia) Relapse made it the way he wanted it to be, and his thoughts and passion has gone into each and every track. It also has a build up of BPMs throughout the album: we start with track 1 with 130 BPM and we finish at 160BPM with track 11. All originals, and all made by Relapse. So no Uptempo stuff, but Downtempo stuff. Gosh, I've been out of the scene too damn long. It's like every week a new style emerges out of nowhere. But sometimes the Uptempo stuff is too rough and raw (and boring too), so this Downtempo stuff could just be my cup of tea?! Let's find out what you can find on the actual album: 01. Relapse - M.I.A. 02. Relapse - Creepin 03. Relapse - No Time 04. Relapse - XXX 05. Relapse - Switch Tight 06. Relapse - Armageddon 07. Relapse - Let Me See Ya 08. Relapse - Bullshit 09. Relapse - Non Stop Hustle 10. Relapse - The Imperial Bomb 11. Relapse - Never Be Safe This is certainly a unique album. Not something you can categorise easily. You cannot put this in a general box. This is certainly something different, and not something I have heard before. Once the album drops, you will definately find out what I'm talking about. The albums starts slow, as I mentioned before, and will end 'fast'. Not really that fast, 160 BPM is still acceptable, but compared to the first record it's certainly fast. But is it good? I have to say 'yes'. Even though it can be kind of weird and unexpected, it does get me going mad behind the screens. I'm nodding my head, shaking my feet, and basically moving my elephant body around like it's my last day on Earth. Not a pleasant sight to see, but that's all Relapse's fault. The build up of this album is what I praise the most. Never have I experienced an album that focusses on the BPMs. Most albums have got the 'best' record as number 1, and towards the end you kind of get the 'waste' records: records no-one asked for, no-one plays, and no-one will ever recollect them. But that's not the case here. Relapse uses a lot of Hip-Hop and Grime. Sometimes maybe a bit too much, but it's still acceptable. At times you just want the beats and bass to penetrate your skull, and trust me, Relapse does that too. And for those wondering if you can dance to the 130 BPM records... don't worry: most CD players do have a slider that goes up and down, and with that you can increase the speed. So don't worry if it's too slow. It's not Barry White slow. During the first few records I got this DJ Promo vibe. His Industrial alias. God, I've forgotten the name of it. But that vibe can be felt. Towards the end, when the BPMs go insane (not really though), I do get a Rooler vibe. Relapse cannot be categorised, as I said before. But it's a nice balance: it never becomes dull. It raw, it's rough, and it does the trick. So what can you do until the release of this album? You can wait. Go to the launch party. And once it hits the market, get it. If you are interested in Downtempo music, you will love this album. A good debut album. This kid will do great things in the future. Make more of this, please. You can pre-order this right now from Bandcamp, and I urge you to do so. You can also listen to two of the eleven records, as a teaser!
