- Beuk In Je Kanus 74.0 - Hardstyle Summer Edition (2020)
Has 2020 finally ended yet? It's been a terrible year, and for many it lingers in our minds that this was the year without any proper festivals. And when I say proper festivals, I'm obviously talking about events where 25.000+ people are crammed into this wide open field, dancing the day/night away to awesome dance music. Lasers everywhere, epic firework show at the end, speakers as far as the eye can see, and expensive drinks and merchandising. Yep, thats a proper festival for me. But this year it's not going to happen. We might see the odd festival here and there, but with a distance of 2 meters between each ravers, that's going to be one big ass field for everyone to fit in. So, to start this review with a positive note, 2020 can fuck off. Beuk In Je Kanus. A solid place on Soundcloud if you want to hear Hardstyle/Rawstyle music. They provide us with music on a regular basis, and with their 74th edition of their Beuk In Je Kanus mix series, they have upped the ante. They made a summer edition. Damn, another reminder of a missed summer. But anyway, the summer, it's always a bit more happier, a bit more euphoric. I don't know why, but it does. So this mix is packed to the max with Euphoric Hardstyle anthems. And even though I'm a miserable sod, and I miss the festivals, if I close my eyes and hear this mix playing in the background, I can actually see myself on that field. Nikes covered in mud, and having the time of my life. Imagination can take me everywhere and anywhere I like. Euphoric Hardstyle tracklist anyone? Phuture Noize feat Josh & Wesz - Liberal Endymion & Crystal Mad - How It's Done Noisecontrollers - Nobody So High (Sound Rush Mashup) Wildstylez - R.U.S.H. Max Enforcers & AmsterdamSoundSystem feat Mark Vayne - She Got Me Like Brooklyn Bounce - Club Bizarre (Headhunterz & Noisecontrollers Remix) Max Enforcer - Lost In Paradise The Vision - Melody Madness Exilium - Heart Of Glass The Pitcher feat Sam LeMay - Together As One Headhunterz - Megasound (Devin Wild Remix) Sound Rush feat Eurielle - Back To The Roots Headhunterz feat Malukah - Dragonborn Part 2 Rebourne - Free Digital Punk & Noisecontrollers - Blue Horizon Clockartz & Bram Boender - The Art Of Being One NSCLT feat LXCPR - Reborn (Rebirth 2017 Anthem) Hard Driver & Code Black - GTFO Headhunterz - Headshot Headhunterz - Subsonic (Hard Bass Edit) Josh & Wesz - Overdrive O I had to put on my headphones, just to capture the music as much as I could, as loud as I can handle it. Or, to put it in normal terms, as loud as the headphones could handle. I like my music hard and loud, and bass driven, so thankfully my headphone can handle it. And now I've got it set up to the max, blowing my ears into smithereens. Blow them the fuck up. I'm truly fascinated about how euphoric Hardstyle can sound. It touches you in such a good way, you feel happier in a second once you hear those familiar chords. You are in another world, happier, and free. And guess where I am right now? Nope, not in my second living room, sitting mostly in the darkness. I am anywhere BUT here. I am among thousands of ravers, dancing, raising my hands in the air, and stomping the fuck out of everything around me with my feet. I am alive, and I know it. Beuk In Je Kanus have selected a good selection of Euphoric Hardstyle anthems. Obviously when you talk about euphoric, you talk Headhunterz and friends. They have capture the sound, and made it so extremely catchy. And dancefloor friendly. But let's not just assume that Headhunterz rules everything: in this mix you find a lot of Euphoric anthems by the old and new generation. Young as Sound Rush, old as Noisecontrollers/Endymion etc. Still making sure the music is aligned with the style, and making it as cheerful as possible. But you are probably wondering which record is my favourite? It was a difficult choice, but I had two favourite anthems: 'Back To The Roots' by Sound Rush and Eurielle, but the number one, the ultimate party record of this mix, has got to be ..... (drum roll please)... Rebourne's 'Free'. My sweet Lord, what an anthem! This is exactly what I want to hear, and this record immediately took me to a field. Yes, that field I was talking about earlier. Shit a brick, what a smashing record. This is euphoria, and you all know it. Beuk In Je Kanus has delivered yet another wicked mix, and the responses so far have been great. This is a channel worth checking out, if you love your music to be rough and raw. - DJ Fly - Free Mix Part 4 (2015)
I am probably the whitest person on Earth, and I'm not lying. But as white as I might be, I do love a bit of Hip Hop / Rap. Especially the early stuff. Not sure about the present day Hip Hop, have lost interest many years ago when it became too commercial. But when I was a young lad, I grew up listening to everything, and even Hip Hop was played when I was a teenager. My dad even took back from the States several Hip Hop CDs, ones you would never see in the Netherlands at all! I used to be a kid who did not listen to lyrics, but feeling the vibes was more my thing. I seriously keep finding out hidden innuendos in records, that everyone else knows about, except me. But what I am saying is, that the lyrics never mattered to me. As long as the groove is good and I can bop my head to it, I love it. Now in 2020 the world is changing, and even I have grown much more mature, and hear lyrics more clearly. Well, I still find it difficult to create a story with the lyrics: some of these MCs go damn fast. How do you expect me to listen and understand each sentence? Anyway, this mix. It's made by DJ Fly. And it does contain Hip Hop / Rap anthems. I had to Google DJ Fly, but it turns out he's a multiple award winning DJ, even having the DMC World Championship title twice. So he knows a thing or two about scratching. And it turns out he loves Hip Hop, so this mix should be good! Check the tracklist. This is proper music. A lot of extremely big names in his mix. Even a few I've forgotten about. And the added bonus you do get is that every so often, DJ Fly starts to scratch, and it just works beautifully. Well, he didn't win the World title for no reason, eh? As good as the records and the artists might be, I do have this feeling for Eric B & Rakim's voices and the way they rhyme. Their two records in Fly's mix are my favourite: who doesn't love 'Don't Sweat The Technique'? Don't get me wrong, every other artist has had a huge impact in the scene, and I do like 99% of them (don't like Mystikal, his voice sounds too raw). When it comes to the beats, 'Round & Round We Go' by Daz Dillinger wins it, followed by everything by Wu Tang Clan. But Eric B & Rakim are just Kings. This mix has made me go nuts for the early Hip Hop sound. Not the stupid mumble rap or the top 40 Hip Hop. I am certainly going to check out DJ Fly's other mixes on Soundcloud, and so should you. This isn't a standard TCD mix, but as you know: I love every kind of music. And yes, this white boy even likes Hip Hop. - DJ Deluxe Studio Mix May 2020
It's Saturday morning, and I've just woken up. And I am in dire need of something relaxing, yet something to wake me up. I remember that someone posted a link in the Crazy Dutchmans Blog Facebook page, which I did not check out yet. Not heard of DJ Deluxe before, so I was ready to give this a go. What I am currently listening to, is a mix filled with Breakbeat Hardcore tunes I've never heard before. I don't know much about the person behind the name Deluxe. But I'm guessing he's into Breakbeat Hardcore. And he's got some releases coming up on labels such as Endor Recordings, Future Breakz, KFA Records and more. So a promising act you might need to look out for? He already had some positive feedback. So I should check this out, right? And I am. Don't hear many Breakbeat Hardcore mixes, so when I do, it's always pleasant to hear the music. But is DJ Deluxe someone you should check out? Is he worth your time? Let me show you the tracklist first. DJ Dossa - Elevated Simon Holmes - Future Echoes Deluxe & Jow - Feel Alive (ManBearPig Remix) Little Big - Uno (DJ Deluxe Remix) Montaigne - Don't Break Me (DJ Dossa Remix) DJ Deluxe - Now That's What I Call Music (Ill Advised Remix) ManBearPig - Old's Kool ManBearPig - Triple Love DJ Deluxe - Make Some Fuckin' Noise DJ Deluxe - Closer DJ Deluxe - So Soothing DJ Deluxe - Illuminate (Forbidden Mix) DJ Deluxe - Man From Maggotty (PFB vs MBP Soundclash Mix) DJ Deluxe & Dave Skywalker - Pandemic DJ Deluxe - Bang Your Head DJ Deluxe - Wait A Minute You know what this reminds me of? When I discovered a new Breakbeat Hardcore producer called Inspector Sands a few years ago, and I was blown away by his productions. I've got the same vibes here. Not heard of DJ Deluxe before, but his music really seems to appeal to me. I do get oldskool vibes going through my body when I listen to this mix. It's a nice and cool mix. And the records themselves are really wicked. Recognisable piano bits, and did I hear even a bit of Angerfist in here? Whatever you Breakbeat Hardcore fanatic are looking for, you will find it in this mix. The track that I liked the most is 'Feel Alive' remixed by ManBearPig. I just love the vocals. Don't know the original though; I am guessing it's from a top 40 song? Am I too old to recognise the original song these vocals are from? Anyway, a pleasant way to wake up on this dreary Saturday morning. Make sure you check out this mix, and give this man a like on Soundcloud! You won't be dissapointed. - Gizmo & The Darkraver @ Rezerection - The Nightmare (1995)
If I have to give the Scottish credit, it's for them loving the Dutch Gabber sound. Since the early years of Gabber they have been organising parties all over Scotland, and getting the Dutch artists to play at their events. One of the most legendary events (which I've not been to sadly) is Rezerection. And correct me if I'm wrong, but that event is still going strong, right? Or is it just my imagination? Back in 1995 they had a Rotterdam edition. And the line up seriously gives me goosebumps! Proper oldskool, and a line up not seen in a long time. And the tickets were OK when it comes to the actual price: £22.50 for a ticket to see the following artists: Paul Elstak, Tango & Cash, Darrien Kelly, The Darkraver, Gizmo, DJ Rob, Petrov, Mark Maclauchlan, Neophyte, Terror Traxx, Too Fast For Mellow, Two Terrorists, E-Wax, Bodylotion, Brothers In Law, Rotterdam Records, Euromasters, King Dale, Bald Terror, Hard Attack, Evil Maniax, and more. That's one seriously insane line-up. Fucking insane. You Scots, you know how to create an awesome line-up. I am impressed. Don't know if the actual event was awesome, but I'm guessing that with such a line-up, this event must have been awesome. Magpie303, the awesome Soundcloud Hardcore collection creator, has uploaded Gizmo & The Darkraver's set on Soundcloud. And it's exactly what I was expecting. Gabber, Hardcore, and a tad of Happy Hardcore. And judging the length of the set, it must have been taken from the cassette. The quality is low, but that's to be expected from a tape around 25 years old. The tracklist is awesome. If someone could fill us in with the missing track, that would be appreciated! The Wasteland - Is It Acceptable DJ Gizmo & Delerium - Do You Wanna Dance Isaac - Pump Up The Party Bertocucci Feranzano - XTC Love (Original Mix) Frantic Explosion - Power To The People Vibes & Wishdokta - No More Tears ID - ID Stingray & Sonicdriver - As Cold As Ice (El Bruto Mix) Active Force - Head Like A Pac Man Shrillness - Atomic Sexmachine DJ Tails & Noizer - Drum And Basz DJ Gizmo & The Darkraver - We Got The Juice (Original Mix) Oldskool vibes galore! You would expect to hear this kind of music when you think of the year 1995. The Scottish crowd must have been absolutely absorbing this awesome Rotterdam sound. I've never been to an event where they played Rotterdam sounding Hardcore, but it's always been my favourite kind of Hardcore. And the tracklist does look awesome. A bit of everything. Hardcore, Gabber and even Happy Hardcore. Sadly, the set itself, is a complete nightmare. Now I fully understand the fact that they had to use basic equipment, two turntables and a mixer, but this set is filled to the max with errors. Don't know if it's because of the recording quality, or maybe the tape quality, but to me it sounds more like a DJ error. Maybe the Darkraver had a few too many Bacardi and Cokes down his neck? I wish the set was a bit better. I've heard better sets from 1995. This really isn't one of the best. Sadly I would consider it to be one of the worst ones of 1995. At certain times it does sound good, and the transition goes well, but most of the time it just sounds like a cluster fuck. A big one. Thanks Magpie303 for this set. The mixing isn't great, but the tracks are. Especially 'Head Like A Pac Man'. Haven't heard that one in years! - Nexus Presents: Festival Feeling 2020
2020 will be known as the year when no festivals took place. Slowly we are getting out of the misery that's COVID-19, but we have missed out on a lot of events, and even the big ones that should have taken place during the Summer, have cancelled due to the safety of the visitors, and the risk such an event might have. So we might see a few events take place, but not as many as last year. The world has woken up to online events, which are obviously more boring. Who sits still during a livestream? We want to stomp our feet onto the ground, and raise our fists in the air. We need to be at a festival to have that special feeling. 2020, you can fuck off. 2020 is a horrible year. The only escape most of us have, is to find music online. And today I've found a mix by DJ NexuS. Not aware who's behind the name, but the mix is focussed on the Euphoric Hardstyle sound. Some new and some old records in here. This to celebrate what we are sadly missing. But you do get the festival feeling when you press play. All records selected are 'happy' tunes. They make you want to stomp your feet even harder onto the ground. A wide variety of artists. An hour of Euphoric Hardstyle, who doesn't want to hear that? Well, if you fancy a bit, here's the tracklist: Edward Maya & Vika Jiguling - Stereo Love (Wildstylez Remix) Audiotricks & Demi Kanon - Fallen Horizon Wasted Penguinz & Da Tweekaz - Island Refuge (Qontinent 2013 Anthem) Code Black - You've Got The Love Coone & Wildstylez - Here I Come Adrenalize feat ADN - Get Up Max Enforcer & Frontliner - Wknd Noisecontrollers - So High D-Block & S-Te-Fan & Rebourne - Louder (Louder Edit) Atmozfears - Gold Skies (Decibel 2015 Anthem) Adrenalize - All The Memories Sound Rush - Sticks & Stones Frontliner - TBA 2 Atmozfears & Jesse Jax - Keep Your Eyes Open Max Enforcer - Lost In Paradise D-Block & S-Te-Fan & DJ Isaac - World Renowned Da Tweekaz - Komon KELTEK - Dark Sun Phuture Noize - Circles And Squares B-Front & Alpha2 feat Snowflake - Lost B-Front & Adrenalize - Elektronic Symphony Sub Zero Project & KELTEK - Break The Game B-Front - Smells Like Teen Spirit Noisecontrollers & Atmozfears & B-Front - Das Boot Act Of Rage & Killshot - Day For Night Rebelion feat Micha Martin - The Edge A tracklist and a half. So many great producers in here. DJ NexuS has selected the big guns for his Summer mix. Nice and heavenly Hardstyle. Who doesn't want to hear that? It is true, this mix is packed with festival anthems. These tunes won't go amiss during an event. You need to hear them, standing next to thousand speakers, in a field, when darkness hits, and the lasers + fireworks demolish your eyes. That's when you feel alive and the happiest. In a field of mud? Who cares, as long as we have got the music and sick ass lasers. The peep noise you have days after the event/festival took place is really a good feeling; it means you partied hard. But don't overdo it, permanent ear damage isn't funny. Being deaf is shite. The Euphoric anthems are coming at you, through your speakers. A good selection by NexuS. Some aren't really particularly good, like 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and 'Komon', but I would appreciate them once I'm at the festival, drunk as a skunk. But here, sitting in my living room, listening to these records, it doesn't do a single thing for me. The other 23/24 anthems are really what I wanted to hear. I love the cheerfulness in each record. It just sounds like the Summer is about to happen, and the festival season has started. I don't know how else to describe it. But not in 2020. Festival Indoors. Indoors as in your own home. Pff. Too many great anthems to choose from. But the one that has been my favourite for quite a while now, is 'Lost In Paradise' by Max Enforcer. If you don't know it, are you event a party animal? The mix is good, a few 'meh' records, and some small errors in there. But you can still feel the festive spirit surrounding it. Worth checking it out! - Paranoizer - F**k The Corona Lockdown Mix (2020)
We all have to say it out loud. F**k the Corona virus! F**k COVID-19. We hate it with a passion. And we hate the fact that there are too many victims of this virus. As a world we should remain united, and remain safe. We can beat this horrible and disgusting virus. How? Well, at the moment there's no official cure, and there has been a lot of speculation in the media that certain pills might do the trick (which is obviously a hoax), but maybe, and I say this lightly, Terror might do the trick? The Terror I am talking about, is obviously not the violent type. Well, it is violent in it's own way, but it's music. And the Terror today is presented to us by Paranoizer. His mix focusses on the harder style of Hardcore, and the title is suitable for 2020. F**k the Corona virus. He's absolutely right. We hate it with a passion, and maybe by raving extremely hard and fast, we might kill it? Kill it dead. I don't mind the faster music, as long as it makes sense. And this mix does make sense. The wife disagrees, but what does she know about Terror, eh? She isn't a Terrorhead like I am. So, lockdown can be a bitch, but can be a good one. We can stay safe, and rave extremely fast. So why not have a blast? Get your lasers out of the shed, blow off the dust of your stroboscopes, plug in the big speakers, and create your own Terror event. Have fun. Love it. Tripped feat Mikey Motion - I'm A Nice Guy Paranoizer - Mad Commotion (Striker Remix) Paranoizer - Back The Fuck Up SRB - Pedal Execrate - Sacrifice Paranoizer - STFU Paranoizer - Kick Some Ass Suicide Rage & Paranoizer - Fake Ass Bitches Nekrosystem - The Fucking Devil Paranoizer - Origami Striker - Digging In The Crates The Vizitor & Paranoizer - frontantipiepkicks SRB - I Take Your Brain The Vizitor - Simply Terror (Paranoizer Remix) Hard Infantry - Fuck His Wife Mithridate & Paranoizer - Headz Will Roll Red Ogre - Acceleration Force Dissoactive & Paranoizer - Klerelijers Execrate - Overflow From Hell Fiend & Virtue - Self-Destruct Paranoizer - Kill Him Noisekick - FHRITP (Nekrosystem Remix) If you don't like fast music, you will certainly not like this. You will hate it with a vengeance. But that's OK. You might have clicked on this mix by accident, seeing as the tag on Soundcloud is 'Disco'. Good choice mr Paranoizer. Good choice. It's obviously fast, and I really wanted to hear something this fast on this Sunday morning. Why not? A true Terrorhead can listen to it 24/7, 365 days a year. Even at Christmas we want to hear it. It might not be good music to listen to when you are trying to dose off to sleep, because your mind will remain in hyperdrive, but some actually can sleep to this. I've seen people at raves sound asleep next to the speakers. But that could have easily been because of other influences. Anyway, is Paranoizer's mix any good? Yes. I really enjoyed the mayhem it has created in our household. I am the only one that likes the harder sound, so I drove everyone mad here. The pace remains fast from the first to the last record, and the mix also contains a few of Paranoizer's own productions. A good introduction, if you aren't aware of who he is, and what he's capable of. The beats are fast, and I'm really hyped. My body is currently pumping blood around it at a staggering 250+ BPM. And I'm loving it. I wouldn't be able to dance to it anymore: I've got the COVID-19 body. Fat, overweight, and saggy belly. So if I dance to this, I would certainly create an earthquake, here in London. Best record? The Vizitor's 'Simply Terror', remixed by Paranoizer. Wicked track. Don't let your Sunday be ruined by COVID-19. Make sure you play this out loud. Wake up the whole damn neighbourhood. And if the police arrive at your door, just blame the virus. We should. - Nizzle & Nelza - Ravin Roots Volume 2 (2020)
It's been a while since I last reviewed a UK Hardcore mix. A lot of other genres have passed the revue, but UK Hardcore has been a bit quietly lately. That could be my fault, or the Soundcloud parameters. I simply do not see a lot of them passing by. Or when they do, they don't have a tracklist, which is sad. But I think that I've a smashing mix for everyone to hear today, on this glorious Saturday afternoon. Another week in lockdown, but it's all coming to an end (we hope). Nizzle and Nelza's Ravin Roots mix series, have you heard about it? You haven't? That's good. Let me explain a bit more about it (as much as I know about it). It's a mix series, taking the ravers back in time, to the glorious years of UK Hardcore. The early years. Well, not really the early early years, but more the music released around the Millennium and after. The golden era of UK Hardcore. They decided to make mixes focussed on this sound, and the result is a blinding hour long mix. I did store the first volume, but haven't had the chance to listen to it yet. But the first two instalments are both about an hour long, and they contain the big hits you want to hear. The classics, as some would like to call them. I would like to call them the 'all time greatest' anthems. The records that we do like, and love. I keep on teasing you all, so it's time now for the tracklist. Here's the tracklist: 4 Rising Stars - Feelin' Me (Breeze & Styles Remix) Spenno & Jess - Find Your Way (Breeze & Styles Remix) Darren Styles - Feel Love Squad-E & The Doctor - Holding On Right Now Hixxy - Don't Feel Love Seduction & Darren Styles - Sunlight Hixxy, Dougal & Gammer - Phaze 2 Phaze Breeze & Styles - Electric Flyin & Sparky feat Charm - True Love Revolution (Re-Con Remix) D-Code - Out Of My Hands (Squad-E Remix) Joey Riot vs Technotrance - Together Again (Sy & Unknown Remix) Breeze & Re-Con - Love U 4 A Lifetime Sy & Unknown feat Lou Lou - Caught Up In Your Love Scott Brown - Prince Of Darkness Mickey Skeedale feat Jenna - Through The Darkness (Dougal & Gammer Remix) Breeze & Chris Unknown - One Desire This is what I want to hear when I think of UK Hardcore. These are indeed classics. All time awesomeness. I am really happy that there's yet another mix series alive, to keep the Millennium sound alive. I thought at first it was going to be a DJ + MC mix, seeing as I am not aware of Nelza is, but it's not. No MCs were involved in this mix. Two DJs on one mix. That's all you get, but what a tremendous mix you do get! Have you seen the tracklist, have you actually looked at it, or just glanced at it? You need to absorb the artists + titles. It's wicked. The happy vibes are coming through the roof. You can hear the happiness coming towards you. It's going to make you feel so happy. The tracks selected by Nizzle and Nelza are really awesome. Especially the Sy & Unknown stuff. Such a shame though, those two together made excellent tunes. I will probably check the first instalment as well, and so should you. I've really enjoyed this mix. Taking me back in time. I feel like a late teenager again! Thanks Nizzle and Nelza. - The Knutsens 'In-N-Out The Ivy' Mix Vol 1 (2020)
A couple of weeks ago I discovered a new group on Soundcloud, called the Knutsens. If I'm honest, I don't know who's behind this project, or what their name means, but their latest mix is yet another one I would like to share with you all. Unless you hate Disco and Funk music. In that case, why you even bothering reading this? Who doesn't like Disco and Funk? Seriously, who hates it enough for them to go 'nah, I'll pass'? That's just surreal. I don't even know the restaurant/bar The Ivy. Am I really alive? Am I a person of this world? Clearly not, there are so many locations for me to discover. But what I can gather from the image, it's a funky looking bar, and having Disco/Funk music played there, well, it looks suitable. And with this mix, the Knutsens are thanking the Ivy for them playing there. It's obviously now a bit different due to COVID19, but I'm guessing that once everything goes back to normality, they will have the bar rammed. Their mix is a short one. Would really hear a longer mix. Time just goes by too damn quickly. Especially when you are enjoying the music. And I've even played this last weekend during our first BBQ of 2020. And no one complained, so that's a bonus. Did it make the food taste better? Nope. Music doesn't have that much power! Anyway, the tracklist, if you are interested. Horse Meat Disco feat Kathy Sledge - Falling Deep In Love Again (Joey Negro 12" Disco Blend) Angelo Ferreri - Izinque (Alessio Cala' Remix) COEO - 1981 Opolopo - Mr Zogs Sex Wax Soul Reductions - Got To Be Loved (Extended Mix) Change - Love 4 Love (Joey Negro Extended Remix) COEO - Japanese Woman Sister Sledge - You Fooled Around (Joey Negro Fooled Around With Mix) Odyssey - Inside Out (The Knutsens In-N-Out Mix) Without a shadow of a doubt, this has got some of the weirdest names ever. I cannot express my facial expression when I saw 'Horse Meat Disco' and 'Mr Zogs Sex Wax' in this tracklist. Is it weird? Yes. But is it good music? YES! I can only give the Knutsens credit for making a mix so good. Normally I listen to the harder styles, but this time I'm really hooked on their mixes. They've uploaded two mixes so far, but I really liked both of them. Really funky, really catchy music. Absolutely nothing wrong with their style. I should invest more time in styles a bit softer, a bit more fragile, but the harder styles just grab me, and don't let me go. But the Knutsens mix is really good, I have been playing this over and over. It's that addictive. It's like a drug: I just need more and more. Wish I lived a bit closer to Edinburgh or Glasgow. I would have gone to the Ivy, to hear these wicked tunes being played. Nice and relaxing dance tunes. This kind of music can fit anywhere, any place, any time. So damn good. And the best record of them all? It's the one with the weird title: 'Mr Zogs Sex Wax'. - DJ A.K. - Happy Eurocore Classics 24.04.20
Happy Hardcore. Eurocore. I freaking love it! I don't need to express my happiness, when I talk about Happy Hardcore. Sometimes it even surpasses my happiness for Hardcore/Gabber. Yep, that's right, I said it. And I don't care. Happy Hardcore was such an influential style for me during the 90s. I think at one stage I even bought more Happy albums compared to others. I was so in love with the sound, even though it was kind of ridiculed by many. I couldn't care less. To find a cheese fest online, is what I always wanted to see. DJ A.K.'s latest mix contains only the cheesiest of cheese. Full of rave anthems from Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, and more. Yes, the Dutch have contributed a lot to this style, so you will find a lot of well known anthems in here. I was in love with the compilation released by Arcade, which was called 'Happy Hardcore' funnily enough, and I bought some other compilations here and there too, but I wouldn't say I'm an aficionado of the style. Even A.K. has surprised me with a few unknown classics in here. Of course he has played the biggest tracks from the 90s, but also a few I've not heard before. A nice Monday morning treat! Charlie Lownoise & Mental Theo - Wonderful Days (Etienne Overdijk & Sven Maes Remix) Sonicdriver - In Your Arms Tonight Maui - Feel Me Tonight T.T.O.T. - Get Up (Airplay Edit) Interactive - Forever Young DJ Thoka - You Make Me Feel So Good Highlander - Everytime 3 Steps Ahead - Drop It (Happy Mix) Moratto - Radar Systems (Universe Party Mix) Highlander - Last Forever The Omen - Let The Music Take Control (Radio Mix) Marusha - It Takes Me Away 2 Without Heads - U And Me (Hardcore Forever) (Miss Groovy Remix) Trancehistory - Doo Dey Doo Dey Love Child - All Out Of Love (DJ Weirdo & DJ Sim Remix) Spy vs Spy - Dance With Me M-Jay & Dan Vee - The Sun Always Shines 4 Tune Fairytales - Take Me 2 Wonderland Kim Ono - Big In Japan 4 Tune Fairytales - My Little Fantasy Zoee - Tekkno Wonderland Dune - I Can't Stop Raving Habegale - I Want Your Mind (Alt 2 Mix) Nakatomi - Children Of The Night A-Tension - Angels Highlander - Hold Me Now (Bass-D & King Matthew Remix) OMFG. This mix is perfect. My childhood has returned. I feel like I'm 14 years old again. Just had a chat with the missus about Happy Hardcore and how much it meant to me. See, this is what this mix does to me. So happy right now. It kind of ruined Hardcore in 1999, which was a bummer, but it's still part of my youth. I will never disown it. How cheesy it might be. As I said before, A.K. still surprised me with a few unknown anthems. And sadly those anthems don't do anything for me. 'Big In Japan', 'I Want Your Mind', 'Radar Systems'. Those are sadly not my cup of tea, even cheesier than expected. But all the others are just what I need to hear. So many memories. And so many great anthems. I wish it was still alive and kicking. But the memory lives on. It was difficult to pick one favourite, but I chose Marusha's 'It Takes Me Away'. That record was so awesome back in 1994. It was even part of a CD single which was released with a school agenda, so you can imagine I played it over and over until nothing was left. A good mix. Really enjoyed A.K.'s selection. More of this cheese fest. But not too damn cheesy lol. DJ: A.K. - Let's MizzBehave - Yoga Session Vol.1 (2020)
If there's one thing I cannot imagine doing right now, it is yoga. I do not have the patience to sit and do those weird poses. Or even have my body parts move in an unusual way. I would break into a billion pieces. Nah, yoga ain't my cup of tea, but Mizz Behave thinks it's a good idea to get more people into yoga. And as far I know yoga, the music played during a session is kind of boring. All 'inspiring' music, to keep your body yin to yang. Spiritual and relaxing music is what keeps people motivated. For me, that's a complete buzzkill. Can't do that. She decided to give us a 31 minute long mix, to make sure your session is different. I still don't know who's behind the mask, but she's very flexible. No, that's not a sexual comment, but you can clearly see her in the picture above. I've not seen the soles of my feet in years: I am not that flexible. Anyway, she is different. She like things to be a bit harder, and rougher. So her mix is filled with shit tons of hard and extreme records. And if anyone knows the ins and outs, she's linked to GPF, isn't she? She's got something to do with the boys. I am just not sure why, or who she is. She's a mystery, like Angerfist, or GPF. No one knows who's behind the mask. But she's being doing great stuff in the Puzzycore scene, and as expected, the mix is filled with a lot of awesome and weird tracks. Tracklist should be a feast for your eyes. And please, stop looking at the image of her, you filthy freak! Disgusting. Thyron & Fraw - Crash Neroz - Soulshock Riot Shift - Dark Matter (Mizz Cut) Ran-D & Endymion feat LePrince - FUCK From Reality (Mizz Behave Rape) Ncrypta - NXT LVL (Sickmode Remix) Caine - Hype Beast JeBroer - Gaan Met Die Banaan (GPF & Mizz Behave's Laser Piep Kick Edit of Riot Shift's Vegang Edit) Mizz Behave & The Freaky Bastards - LOCA GPF & Mind Compressor - Spaghetti Love (Mizz Behave Remix) GPF x Caine x Mizz Behave - Cum Filled Fuckery (GREAZED UP ANTHEM) GPF x Malice - All I Want Is Piep Kickz X Mizz Behave - Suck My Puzzy Exorcism - Piepshow Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz x Mizz Behave - I Fucked A Girl Da Tweekaz - Moana (Caine & GPF's 200BPM Donk F**k Duck Piep Kick Remix) Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz - Cummin On Ur Face Brennan Heart & Jonathan Mendelsohn - Imaginary (Mizz Behave Fucktempo April Fool X) This is one messed up tracklist. Sweet Lord, if you were expecting a smooth yoga session, you are going to be slightly disappointed. And I'm guessing she's got a few people on Soundcloud who saw that it was a yoga session mix, to click on it, and they were in for a shock. That's the way to do it. Shock the world, why f**king not? I am a fan of GPF and their weird approach to Hardstyle/Uptempo, and Mizz Behave's mix is packed with music from the legends. Not only their tracks are in here, but also a few of her own productions and collaborations. Is she GPF? Is that what it is? We were all to believe it was Caine, but he's not even part of it. He's just the janitor. Mizz Behave is GPF? This is probably an unpopular statement, but I don't care. Really enjoyed this hard and rough set. It has certainly woken me up on this Monday morning. Thankfully it's a bank holiday, so there's no need to stay focussed and do work stuff. I can do whatever I like, so this mix will be on repeat throughout the whole day. There might be some GPF fanboys and girls out there who are going to hate me, but my favourite record of this mix is made by Thyron and Fraw, and it's called 'Crash'. It's hard, yes, but not as hard as GPF or Mizz Behave. Maybe I'm getting older and can't handle the power anymore. But I really liked the extreme darkness to this record. And the way it throws you around, you don't know what to expect next. Another wicked mix by Mizz Behave. I won't certainly do any yoga, but if you are planning on doing so, why not let her mix be your guide? Stay safe, and make sure you workout. Be like Mizz Behave! - Judge Jules Classics Special @ Luminosity Beach Festival 28-06-2015
If I'm honest to you guys and girls, I have to say that Luminosity is the one event I would really want to go to. This Trance focussed dance event has got everything you need, and as far as I can remember, they always had the biggest and baddest line-up in the whole wide world. Back in 2015 it wasn't any different: Marco V, Paul van Dyk, Solarstone, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Rank 1, Marcel Woods, Art Of Trance, Signum, and the list goes on. And of course Judge Jules. What a killer line-up: many other events should be jealous of this awesome line-up. So what did Judge Jules do? He went all out, and did a classic Trance set. And it contains tracks I've not heard in a long time! Proper classic anthems. Be prepared to be amazed. I am easily amazed nowadays, but when I talk about music, you should always follow my lead, and if I comment that you should be amazed, well, just be. The tracks he has selected, I don't hear them that often. It has made me blow dust of my old Trance CDs, and I know exactly what I'll be listening to during this windy yet sunny Sunday. Thanks Judge Jules for this mix. Really appreciated. Starparty - I'm In Love (Ferry Corsten & Robert Smit Remix) Lost Witness - Happiness Happening (Lange Remix) Above & Beyond - Alone Tonight (Above & Beyond's Club Mix) Kristine Blond - Love Shy (Electrique Boutique Remix) Fridge - Angel (Club Mix) Umex - Gatex (Tiesto Remix) Da Hool - Meet Her At The Love Parade (Nalin & Kane Remix) Southside Spinners - Luvstruck Marc Et Claude - I Need Your Lovin' (Like The Sunshine) (Dark Moon Complete Vocal Mix) Ratty - Sunrise (Here I Am) (Club Mix) Aurora - Hear You Calling (Dark Moon Remix) Tillmann Uhrmacher - On The Run (Ocean To Shore Club Extended) Art Of Trance - Madagascar (Richard Durand Remix) Sander van Doorn - Riff Matt Darey presents Mash Up - Liberation (Temptation - Fly Like An Angel) (Ferry Corsten Remix) Judge Jules - Verano Loco Wow. Hell yeah. I told you he used tracks that you sadly don't hear that often. What a ridiculous mix. But I mean it in a good way. Gosh, I wish I was there, hearing these anthems: I would have lost my freaking mind. Obviously the biggest Trance anthems are in here. 'Luvstruck', 'Gatex', 'On The Run', 'Love Shy', 'I'm In Love', and the list goes on. But it also contained a version of a record I've never heard before: 'Madagascar' remixed by Richard Durand. Fuck me, that's a filthy version of an already all time classic. I might just take that one, and name that my favourite. Alongside Ratty's 'Sunrise' of course, can't talk about this set and not name this record too. I really enjoyed this set. There's nothing wrong with it. Well, maybe the recording quality itself. It's not the best and highest quality mix on Soundcloud, but you can still hear the anthems, and that's all that matters. Fuck everything else, 30 years ago we had cassette quality. Imagine living in 2020 and still having that! Wicked set. Bring back the classics! NOW! - Fraudulent websites, and how to deal with them...
We live in unprecedented times. That's a phrase you hear and read about everywhere nowadays. COVID-19 has made us all look at the way we live, and we had to adapt to this rather unusual virus that has swept the world. You might think it's a hoax, or you might even think that the information provided by your government is wrong, but whatever you think of it, it's a dangerous and deadly virus. And you don't want to catch it. But it also has another side effect that sadly emerges during times of need: fraudulent websites. How do you deal with those? How can you check if a website is fraudulent, and can we protect ourselves from them? It's difficult. It's not easy. People who create these websites are in it for the money, and will do everything to squeeze every penny out of your pocket, and get away with it. It's similar to those trying to get your details via fraudulent e-mails. Spam, with a virus hidden inside of it. That's not a new thing: e-mails like those have been sent since the early days of the internet, and we have become used to them. We see them nearly on a daily basis, and we delete them straight away. But with websites it's a bit different. Unless you check for signals. And if signals are showing you anything out of the ordinary, stop, and close the page! Firstly, check the validity of the page. On any website you can check if the connection is secure. You can do that, by clicking (in Chrome) on the lock symbol on the left of the website link. As an example, I've clicked on my own website, to show you what it says about my page: You don't need to be an internet wizard to find out if the page you are on, is secure. Security is key. We need to know if the page we are visiting, isn't going to use our details, and destroy our lives online. So check that first. Another indication of a secure website is the actual URL: does it start with HTTPS:// ? You can see that it's secure, due to the added S after HTTP. But people have also tried to go around those security features, so what else is there to check, before committing to a purchase? Check online reviews. Check if a company has had some feedback. Feedback is important. Again, it also has some flaws: companies buying 'reviews', so they look legitimate, and the product they are selling, looks absolutely amazing. But look deep down inside: if a product has only good reviews, but after reading the description, you know it's a simple product, not THAT amazing, click the 'close' tab. Nothing is that good. But don't get too excited and think that, if there are bad reviews, that the company isn't valid. It could simply be that this product is faulty, and that other items they sell are genuinely good. So search for the company as a whole, and check if they do deliver. Are they good with their customer service? Do they deliver on time? How is their general approach? Things you would like to see, when you go into a general store. Obviously the companies you know which have stores all over the country do not count. They have got a reputation to uphold, so they will have invested a lot of money to make sure that their online service is up to date, and follows the rules and regulations, set up by their government, or even the EU, or America, or Asia. I'm not familiar with any rules or regulations there, so you might need to check them first. But from a UK perspective, there are many rules and regulations to follow. Websites do know how to look legitimate, everyone can build a descent looking website, like the one you are on. We are not looking at websites like MySpace's designed websites. It can all be made easier, so whatever you are after, there's a platform for you to build a website on. But the reputation is to be made. And it takes time. You won't become a highly respectable website within a few days. Reputation has to grow, and you will fall from time to time. You will make mistakes, but you have to deal with them in a good way. Back on track. So you've checked if the website is secure. You don't want your credit or debit card details to be online, for everyone to see. Fraudsters will use those details to purchase items on your behalf, and you wouldn't even notice them, until you check your bank account online and you hear that a purchase has been made, or money has been transferred. Once that has happened, it will become a struggle to retrieve the money via your bank. Banks do have guided help in what to do, once your account has been used for fraudulent activities. But you could beat them, and only use secure websites, and check if the reviews are good. Your bank could even help you. As an example: I received a text from my bank (Santander) to report a payment, which I made, but they saw it as maybe fraudulent. Here's the text from them, taken out some details obviously (for GDPR reasons): You follow the steps provided by them. Check if the number you received this text from, is indeed your bank's number. If you don't even feel like it's a legitimate number, always contact your bank. Report these kinds of activities immediately, so they can act on it. They've got a dedicated page set up on their website, how to report this, and how to spot them. Banks have a duty of care, and will step in, in case they see a transaction doesn't look alright. Lastly, the only thing you need to do, is follow your guts. Do you think it's OK, or not? Do you think it's all OK? Check prices on other websites? Do they sell the item at a much higher price? What's the 'standard' price on other websites? If a product has an average price of (example) £300, but they are selling it to you for only £25, you might need to scratch your head twice. Is it really that good? How can they sell it cheap? You can use your feelings, and maybe let this one pass. Do the right thing. The downside of online shopping, is that you do not see the actual item, with a price tag. You cannot confront the cashier with the price stated on the tag. You cannot have a physical interaction with someone. And, as an added bonus, if this company has got stores, why not go there? It might a trip worth it. You can see and feel the item, and inspect the quality. Or maybe pay a few pennies more, but with the knowledge that you will get the item. Don't fall into the trap in ordering an expensive item, and have a box delivered with a brick inside of it. Don't do that. Every penny that goes into those people's pockets are our hard earned pennies, and should not travel from hard working people into sleazy people's pockets. Another thing I just realised: ask friends and family. If you are looking for an item, ask if they have got any ideas. They might have bought from a specific company, and they can always provide you with decent feedback. They can always give you feedback, be it positive or negative. Give them a ring, and ask. There's no harm in asking. They could also provide you with names to stay away from. If you have fallen into the trap, I am sorry to hear. But you can do something about it. Report it to your bank, report it to the provided (for example Ebay or Amazon), and write a review online. Make sure others are aware. Sharing is caring, and it will open not only your own eyes, but others too. It will only become harder. The future will be a bit more difficult for us mankind, seeing as we rely on the world wide web. But as long as we stay focussed, and rely on our own instinct, we can hopefully stay outside of those dodgy hands. Grabbing thieves. Money isn't everything in life, but it certainly makes sure you stay alive. So don't let it be taken away from you. Keep your details secure, don't share passwords, or your debit/creditcard details. Keep your online identity safe.
- BrunkEvents Podcast #2 By DJ Casketkrusher (2020)
I am not sure what Brunk Events is, and others might have to fill me in, but I went on their Facebook page, and under the 'About' section, it's all in German. So anyone (preferably Germans), could you maybe help me? I'm guessing that's it's an online platform for DJ's, newcomers or professionals. It's focussed on the harder styles, like Early Hardcore, Terror, Speedcore, Frenchcore, Raw, and more. So, guess what kind of music we are about to listen to? That's right, the best music out there! Hardcore. Made by Casketkrusher. And secretly I adore him. We all know that. No reason to hide it anymore. Casketkrusher is my hero. An upcoming talent, who should get more recognition for his work. One who brings the Early sound back to life. And when I say the Early sound, I do mean the Early sound. He keeps on producing excellent anthems, all with a twist. You do recognise certain sounds from older tracks, or the way they were composed. Casketkrusher has mastered his craft, and has made it into an art form. Not many out there focus much on the Early sound, and make it work well. There might be a few, but Casketkrusher's back catalogue is too impressive to sweep it under the rug. Someone who keeps the Early sound alive, and makes it work extremely well, gets my recognition, and gratitude. I am in awe with the music he creates. He might have been too young when Hardcore was created during the early 90s, but he has certainly got the producing vibe. If he was active during the Early days, he would have been an extremely successful producer, trust me. This kind of music would have suited the Hardcore era beautifully. A spot on a Thunderdome CD? Easily done. Happy Hardcore CDs? Yeah, he would have been on there. I just love his dedication to this unique sound. And when I discovered this mix, I jumped straight on it. And as you would expect, it's packed with his own stuff. Just sit back, press play, and let the Early sound take you into another dimension. Embrace Casketkrusher. Well. That's a nice looking tracklist, isn't it? It's a beauty. A lot of his own productions are in here, so if you are wondering what Casketkrusher is capable of, don't worry: you will find out once you press play on this mix. And I think you should, if truth be told. Why? Well, you love Early Hardcore, right? So why not check this out? I get this vibe whenever I listen to a Casketkrusher mix. It just takes me right back to the 90s. Full on Early Hardcore mode from the get go. You obviously need to have a passion for the early sound, of course, otherwise this mix might sound extremely boring, and old. If you are a fan of the present day Hardcore and have not discovered the glorious early sound, you might not like it at first, but trust TCD, I do urge you to give this a go. Casketkrusher is a legend. I would go as far as to say that he's my favourite Early Hardcore/Happy Hardcore producer at the moment. So you can imagine that I will give this mix a thumbs up. A big thumbs up. And if you are interested in this kind of music, why not check the man out on Soundcloud? He's got so many great songs on there. Hours of fun. A wicked mix. I would not have expected anything less. He's a legend. He's took the sound, crafted it into something beautiful, and has given me, this old Hardcore nutter, hope. Hope that the Early sound has not died, and will never die. And that's a comfort I am happy to live with. If you want to check out more mixes like this one, why not check out Brunk Events' Soundcloud page. They've got plenty of mixes, all focussed on the harder styles. So go mad, and check them out. Also, the best record in this mix has to be 'Buzzin''. Proper Happy Hardcore vibes. Loving it! - Mysteryland - Live Recorded - June 16th 2001 - Six Flags Holland
Back in 2001 I went to this rave, you might have heard of it. It's called 'Mysteryland'. This absolutely epic event took place at Six Flags Holland. And at the time it was so damn cool: I think when you purchased a ticket for the event, you also had access to the theme park. Can't tell how much the entry was, but yeah, you had a whale of a time. Who doesn't want to be on a buzz, and in a rollercoaster, all at the same time? It was so damn unique. I really loved it. I remember it like it was yesterday. I don't know who I went with, but what I do know is that we went by car. And once we entered the place, we were in the best place the world had to offer that day. With a big ass field for us ravers to dance on, and multiple areas we could dance in, you couldn't imagine a world outside of Mysteryland. Again, this event took place 19 years ago, so I'm not really aware who played what, when, and where. I wish I had that little foldable map from Camel. Yes, Camel still had some influence in the raving community. Most of the event is a big blur. I did remember falling out with a friend of mine, but that's a whole different story. I did remember the weather turning nasty at one stage, and on Partyflock it stated that during Marco V's set it all came crashing down. Well, whenever it happened, I did remember many people rushing towards a safe and dry place. But hey ho, it was all in good spirit. You could expect such a thing; it's still the Netherlands, and not some country on the equator. What made this CD so special, was the added VHS tape, which I sadly lost. Also the t-shirt I had. God knows where it is. But the VHS contained video of the actual event. Thankfully you can find everything online nowadays, and Youtube is our friend. But we are more interested in the music, aren't we? The music was good. And live. You can hear the crowd screaming and shouting. And probably me somewhere among the thousands of ravers. The tracklist, if you have never seen or heard this CD before. Mo'Hawk - Source Of Contention (Intro) Fatboy Slim - Star 69 Scanty - Get Next To The Opposite Sex Trisco - Musak Rhythmkillaz - Wack Ass MF DJ Peter Peter - Muscle Mary Harry ''Choo Choo'' Romero - Beats Vol. 2 Stylus Trouble - Sputnik One Joy Kittikonti - Joyenergizer Mo'Hawk - Source Of Contention Blank & Jones - DJ's, Fans & Freaks (Marco V Remix) DJ Tiesto - Flight 643 Out Of Grace - Obscura Justin K & DJ K Mixx - Northern Lights DJ Scot Project - O Will you look at this? What a disappointment album it was at the time. I did remember the die-hard Hardcore fanatics being upset for not having a CD focussed on the style that made Mysteryland big in the first place. It was also the last year that they had a Thunderdome area (it did come back, many years later). But in 2000 they also did a 'normal' CD, not focussed on Hardcore either. So it might have gotten some lack of attention from the raving community, but not from me. I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, but this sounds like it's a Marco V set? It could have easily been, but if I'm incorrect, do let me know. Oh, and also let me know if you've got a Mysteryland 2001 t-shirt for sale, or even a 1998 t-shirt for sale. I would appreciate it. The actual CD is quite good, and versatile. But the main focus is obviously Techno and Trance, and it's one album that will always travel with me, wherever I go. I was here, and I've got fond memories of the event. So it will always be a highly praised CD for me. It does have one error, as most ID&T CDs had at the time. Isn't Joy Kittikonti's track the 14th, and not the 9th? Anyway, the music on the actual CD. It's live recorded, and that makes everything 100 times better. The crowd, you always need to hear the crowd making noises. That's just the best part of being at a rave. And you can hear them loose themselves several times throughout this recording, especially during the best and most underrated Trance anthem of all time: 'Obscura' by Out Of Grace, my personal favourite. I really love this CD. It's not the best of all the Mysterylands, but it's certainly not the worst (many would follow, years after this event the quality of the CDs would go down the drain), but on a personal level, it takes me back to Six Flags Holland. I was young, innocent, and having the time of my life. I cannot find a version of this album anywhere, so enjoy the video of the actual event. Might give you an impression on how things were back then. It was actually what was on the VHS tape, so the quality is really bad lol. But you can at least enjoy a few acts, like Safri Duo, Marco V, Pavo, Dana, Cosmic Gate, and more. - DJ Thera - Hit You With That Oldskool - Mixtape 4 (2020)
I don't know how many Thera reviews I've done so far, and how many were focussed on his latest mix series, but it has become something of an obsession to me. I need to hear that Old Skool sound, I simply cannot let this go by without listening to it at least once. About a week ago he uploaded the fourth instalment of his successful early Hardstyle mix series. A series I really enjoy, and I'm guessing thousands of us do to, seeing as it already has nearly 2.2k plays. Hardstyle is back! Well, I mean the early sound. I became a huge fan when it emerged, and I still prefer it over the present day Hardstyle. Fanboys, don't take offence, but I do like the early sound. It is just so much better, and so 'new'. At the time we didn't have anything similar: yes, we had Hard House, and of course Hardcore, but this was all new. And f**k me, it took the world by surprise. So many great tunes were made during the early years, and I can vividly remember buying a shit ton of CDs. All compilations, of course. I did spend a few euros on Hardstyle compilations, and to hear them again in 2020, it immediately makes me 20 years younger. DJ Thera is a Hardstyle fanatic, and his latest mix is packed with awesome goodness. It's so good, you don't even want to listen to anything else anymore. Today, we go back in time. Most of these I've already forgotten about. Of course Thera has a few big slammers in here, but also a few obscure and underground anthems. And those I really love. Oh Gawd, the tracks he used for this mix are just so damn wicked. How come we've completely made Hardstyle sound so different? Just check out 'Funky Shit' by DHHD, that's one hell of an oldskool anthem! Fuck me. Or what about 'Thunder In Paradise'? How's that for a track? Or 'Nobody Is Perfect'? Seriously, what has happened to the early sound? Who decided to change it? Again, I'm not saying the present day Hardstyle sounds bad, but why did we forget about the early sound? Before the DHHD fanclub starts getting hyped up, no, I've not selected their track as my favourite. My favourite has to be 'Umanoide' by The Hose. Never heard it before, but it has made me feel things I've not felt before. That sound is so nostalgic! Thanks Thera, for yet another epic mix. Only love and credits to this legend. Epic, epic, epic! - House Party 8 - The Hardcore Ravemix (1993)
The year 1993 was a really interesting year for me. It was the year I discovered Hardcore music. Now the story behind it isn't really that interesting to anyone else besides me, but what happened was, I would always visit my mom's friends on a Friday, and one of our mutual friends was a full on music lover. He had the biggest speakers, the coolest sound set at the time, and spent a fortune on CDs and cassettes. I adored his collection, and whenever I saw the CDs, I couldn't contain my happiness. So as cheeky as it might be, I asked him if he could record CDs onto my cassettes. So far so good. I was still listening to cassettes on my Walkman, seeing as I was only 10 years old, and did not have the pennies yet to get myself a portable CD player. One day my friend told me that he got the latest House Party CD, and it was a good 'un, but maybe a tad too hard. I always listened to 'softer' music, like Techno and House music. But this Hardcore music, never heard it before. So I said 'yeah, just put it on the cassette and I'll have a listen'. That CD was House Party 8, and my life changed completely. The bus journey home was interesting. I was listening to the tape, and only noise came out. I thought it was my cassette which was broken. How could this be music? Boom boom boom? Is that music? Is that what the kids find cool? But the bug caught me, and I never looked back since. I bought the CD, and even the follow up Hardcore CD, House Party 10, is one of my most treasured albums ever. Probably in the top 3 of all time favourites. So, this specific CD, it was my introduction into Hardcore music. Mixed by Gizmo, Buzz Fuzz, Dano, and The Prophet. In 2020 I'm still sitting here, knowing the album fully by heart, and still loving it. I feel like a teenager again. Young, innocent, and f**king loving it. If you haven't encountered the House Party collection, I would urge you to do so. They were really good, one of Arcade's finest CD series. Now, the tracklist: 01. TCM - Thundergods From Hell (Intro) 02. Genlog - It Feels So.... 03. DJ Bountyhunter II - Woops 04. Kuadra - La Onda (La Onda De Einstein Mix) 05. Ramirez - El Gallinero (Original Mix) 06. TCM - Braindead, The End Goosebumps, ladies and gentlemen. Goosebumps. This is the soundtrack of my youth. I was young, innocent, and the music took my by surprise I've not looked back ever since, and I thank my friend for introducing me into this weird yet marvellous world. It's 2020 today, and I'm still enjoying the tunes. I can literally dream the whole album, or hear the album without even have it playing! That's the power behind this album. And thanks to our friend magpie303 for uploading it onto Soundcloud. Of course he would have done exactly that, the Hardcore nutter. The good thing about this CD is, was the fact that it had an intro, midtro, and an outro. Maybe that's why I still love them a lot: a mix CD cannot be superb without an intro, midtro, and outro. It all stems from this CD, ladies and gentlemen. And the intros were so good! The mixing was also very tight. Quick mixing, and no fucking about. At certain moments not beautiful, but the message was to get us all dancing, and that's what this album certainly did. And you have to remember that this CD was made in 1993. Simplicity in regards to the equipment, compared to the present day. Still impressive what they did achieve with limited technological equipment. There are a few great anthems in here, and two are my all time favourites: 'The Box' by High Energy, and 'Acid Yell' by Deaz D, remixed by Gizmo. Both top notch singles. I always wondered though, what Rob Gee is saying during 'Nonshlen Tustokken'. I think he meant to say something in Dutch, but me being Dutch, I've got no freaking idea what he's saying? A good album. But, and I do mean this well, not the best House Party CD. It's number 10 that wins literally everything. Nonetheless, this album has been an inspirational album for me, and has made me who I am. For which I thank Arcade, Gizmo, Dano, Buzz Fuzz, and the Prophet! - Binary Finary: Trance Central 3 - Classics Set (2013)
I don't know why, but I've been having a classic Trance urge for the last few weeks. I need to hear more Trance, especially those anthems that were the dancefloor smashers from around the Millennium period. Maybe it's because Trance is the only style the wife listens to, when we are sitting in our home office for 8+ hours due to bloody COVID-19. No Hardcore, no Hardstyle, no Speedcore, no Dubstep, nothing. It is Trance, or stupid radio. So Trance it is. And it's not so bad, if you think about it. I just typed in 'Classic Trance' on Soundcloud, and one of the mixes it showed me, was by Binary Finary, made 7 years ago. And yes, ladies and gentlemen, the records they picked, are exactly what I want to see, if I think about early Trance anthems. Everyone has got a different opinion about early Trance anthems, but to me it's definitely the Millennium sound I'm referring to. And Binary Finary, already legends within the Trance scene, made this awesome, one hour long, mix. And of course they had to add their own anthem in there. Understandable. The tracklist is beautiful. Really beautiful. You might need to check it out, if you haven't already. 01. Three Drives - Greece 2000 (DJ Shog Remix) 02. Travel - Bulgarian (Signum Remix) 03. Marc et Claude - La (Moonman's Flashover Mix) 04. Jonah - Sssst (Listen) 05. Cosmic Gate - Firewire (Original Mix) 06. Condor II - You Can Kiss My (Original Mix) 07. Nu NRG - Dreamland (Original Mix) 08. Binary Finary - 1999 (Gouryella Remix) 09. Commander Tom - Are Am Eye (Commander Tom 99 Mix) 10. Pornrockers - Cunt Licker (Pulsedriver vs DJs At Work Club Mix) 11. CJ Bolland - The Prophet (Mark Sherry & James Allan Act Of God Mix) 12. Age Of Love - Age Of Love (Lee Tracey & Stu Turner's For The Love ReFILL) Yep, yep, yep. Just have a glance at the tracklist, and you will know why ye boi is loving this mix. This is the kind of music I grew up with, and when I did start going to Trance events, this is what I danced to the whole night. It was a magical time in TCD's history, and will never be forgotten. Sensation 2002, what a wicked event. The other day I actually listened to a CD which contained Binary Finary's anthem, and I really enjoyed it. What a coincidence that now I'm actually listening to one of their mixes on Soundcloud. This set has taken me back to my bedroom, buying all the Trance albums available. I left the Hardcore side around the Millennium period, and Trance was the next best thing for me. I absorbed all the albums, and it was my thing. It was my jam. And the jam was good. Really good. This unique sound cannot be replicated. And sadly isn't around anymore. It's so distinctive to the early 2000s. Some producers have tried to release records which sound similar, but it's just not the same, isn't it. And would you call present day Trance even Trance? Compare the two, and you will notice a huge difference between the two. Yes, they both bring you into a euphoric state of ecstasy, but slightly in a different way. I'd much more prefer the early sound. Nothing can beat it. The set is really good, and has taken me into a higher state of consciousness. I'm sitting here, enjoying the music a lot. Sadly can't go out, but staying indoors and listen to wicked music ain't a bad thing, if I'm honest. I really enjoyed the set. All the big anthems are in here. Sadly the one I enjoyed the most is reduced in length. Jonah's 'Sssst' is such an anthem and a half. Why don't they play this one more often? A filthy yet epic anthem. A good mix to start your Saturday morning with. Let the early Trance sound take your into another atmosphere! Enjoy it as much as I have! - Research Before Purchase, Why Is It Important?
It is always important to do your research, if you are planning on purchasing an item online. Or even when you are going to purchase it in a physical store. But whatever you do, make sure you check the internet first. The internet is a beacon of knowledge, and millions of pages are available for you, to get the finest deals. Due to COVID-19 many of us have to work from home, and I thought it would be a great idea to buy a desk. The old desk I had become obsolete, due to the wife also working from home, and in need of a desk. She got my 'old' desk, and I need a new one. I went to Amazon, seeing as they always deliver very quickly, and for free, and found a desk. It had some good reviews, but before delving too deep into the reviews, I purchased an L shaped desk. It looked nice. It did. But was it any good? Nope, it certainly wasn't. What a huge disappointment. I have set it up, and it felt flimsy from the first time I sat behind it. My God, what a let down of a purchase. It was cheap, I'll tell you that. But I was expecting a bit more. And it didn't deliver. The quality was poor. The only good thing was the actual putting together. All the parts came, and the instructions were clear. But I've sat behind the desk for a couple of weeks now, and have got several bruises and scratches. And it's certainly not ergonomically beneficial for me: someone who's got lower back issues, and multiple pins in his right shoulder. The moral of this story? Don't buy because it looks good, and is cheap. Don't get me wrong: sometimes you can be lucky, and a purchase is actually good. I've had product from all over the world being sent to me, for not a lot of money (because why go expensive for a simplistic item), and they've been good to me. But if you are going to use it on a daily basis, you need quality. This involves investigation. Some research is to be done. So what do you need? Certainly not a laptop. You do need any form of availability of getting onto the internet, be it via a laptop, a PC/Mac, your mobile phone, a tablet, or whatever device you use. And a piece of paper, and something to write on it. A pen or pencil, whatever floats your boat. If you want to use a pen and ink, that's fine by me. And you need time. A lot of time. Don't make any hasty decisions. Those types of decisions always result in headaches, and you won't feel good after. As an example of a headache decision caused by a hasty decision: you might purchase an item for a nice price, but after purchasing it, you find it cheaper somewhere else. That's the worst. And how many of us do actually cancel the order? I don't think I've ever cancelled an order, or even returned it. Use the internet! Do it! As I said, it's our beacon of knowledge, and it can give us all the answers we need. Let's take my own issue I've got right now as an example: a new desk. I won't name any companies, but if you search online, you will find the names quickly. I need a new desk. A sturdy one. And one that suits me. I'm long in size, and have got long legs, so I need space to put my legs underneath the desk. Before you start to get excited, measure yourself. Put your chair in the most comfortable position, and let someone else measure your knee heights, and width. You don't want to sit behind a desk, with your legs crammed into a narrow space. Or even worst: a desk which constantly touches the armrests of your chair. Or when you get up to leave, and one of the rests gets stuck, and the second you get back into position, the desk nearly gets catapulted into the Earth's orbit. That's a horrible feeling. OK, you've got your dimensions written down, what's next? Colour! And desk size. But firstly, colour. What colour are you going for? What matches the rest of your interior? Is your room dark purple? If so, you don't want a light colour. Or maybe you do, to break the dark pattern. It's all up to you. But make sure you get a colour in your head, or at least a range of colours that might work. Next is the size of your desk, and its shape. I never knew you had multiple choice in regards to desks. Waved, rectangular, with or without storage, standing desks, there are so many options available. So make sure you are writing down the options you do need. Is the desk going to be in a corner, or in the middle of your room? Location, location, location! Next is the big step: you are entering the internet. Don't just click on the first link you see after you typed in a few keywords, like 'L shaped desk brown', as an example. Maybe click on a few, and have a few tabs open. Just browse through each page, and absorb the information provided. Let it all sink in what the world has to offer. And if you have the time, why not let Google show you more pages, with more options/pages available? Come on, be a bit bonkers, and absorb it all! When you have searched at least 10 pages, make yourself a nice cup of tea, just to relax. Don't forget to breathe, and don't overdo it. When you feel there's too much pressure on your shoulders, turn your PC off, and chill. Unless there's too much pressure from family or friends to order a part, in which case you can refer to this blog and the following phrase you can use: "do it your freaking self!!!" After the nice cuppa, you get back to work. In this case you have checked several websites, and seen some nice desks. Some rather nice. Wouldn't be amiss among your furniture. But wait! You are being too hasty. Has the website got all the markings of being a good website? Has it got the right boxes ticked? Does your anti virus show it as being a good site? Now comes the hard bit: searching online for reviews of the company. That is what you do prior to checking the reviews of the desk itself. The company should be legitimate, and should be trusted. Make sure it's got good reviews. If it portraits itself as a company that been around for many years, yet has only 1 review online, be cautious. You have to be cautious. There are plenty of internet trolls out there, and also people who place fake reviews, paid to do so. It's a tricky situation: how to distinguish the fakes from the real reviews? With that I sadly can't help you with: you need to learn to 'read' the reviews. Some are so obviously lying, that it's just not feasible to order or continue to look at this specific manufacturer. But it's something you can only learn, when you have fallen in the trap yourself, like I have in the past. Read the most recent reviews, and check if they sound valid. If a customer complaints about the fact that he/she ordered a rectangular desk yet got a waved desk, that's clearly not a manufacturing defect, but an order process issue. If you read multiple of these, then there's clearly something wrong. But if it's only one review, don't worry: as long as all the others are okay. Also check the reviews in regards to the customer service. You can find all the reviews on multiple platform, and sometimes even on the buying page itself, like on Amazon. Customer Service is important, if there's an issue that needs to be resolved, be it a good or bad one. Product might be good, but if you cannot return the item without the help desk being a complete pain in the rectum and charging you, you might need to reconsider. And when you think you are there yet, you are not! The page you are on might offer it for a certain price, but definitely check elsewhere for the same item: you might get a discount at other sellers. Sometimes even free delivery. But you will only find that out if you do your research. Every situation is different, obviously, and you have done your checks. But when do you need the part? Do you need it NOW, or in a couple of weeks? Due to COVID-19 certain items might take longer to be delivered, some even in August or September. I couldn't wait that long, so I found a supplier of desks, and asked them via their online chat for availability and delivery times. In this specific case the service agent was very nice, checked stock, and also checked how quickly it could be delivered. Always, and I do mean ALWAYS, be nice to them, as I've been one of those agents before, and I do know the pressure they have to endure on a daily basis. They might sell thousands of items, and a handful are faulty, but the abuse they get on the phone or via social media or online chat platforms is just beyond belief. Don't think that you screaming or swearing down the phone will help you get things sorted quicker. You can express your unhappiness in a different way, but always be polite; they don't manufacturer the item, or are in charge of delivery, or anything, other than picking up the phone, and answering your enquiry. Nothing more. So be nice. Make sure you've got money in the bank, otherwise you might look a bit foolish. And when payment is accepted, make sure you get an order confirmation. The other day I ordered a desk from a huge supplier, paid, and never received an order confirmation. It turns out they have an issue with this, and advised the customers to try to reorder at a later time, off peak. But after reading the comments on social media, the company still has issues with this. The money is still pending towards them, and hopefully I will retrieve my money as soon as possible. Customer Service is important, but your own investigation is also important. Do your homework, and everything goes smoother. Try it, and you will succeed. I have now ordered a new and sturdier desk, which will come next Monday/Tuesday. Knowing myself I will probably write a review about the new desk, and will let you know if it's any good. But from thinking 'I need a new desk' to the moment I started writing this blog post, it must have been a good three days of investigating all the options available. What I'm trying to say is, never assume. Every legitimate company out there will do their best to please the customers. But there are fraudulent companies out there, who will try to squeeze every penny out of your pocket. They are aggressive and sometimes they lurk among the big companies, pretend to be something they are certainly not. Be careful. It also depends on the product you want to purchase, how long you need to investigate your options. If you are standing in the supermarket and want to decide which type of bananas you want, you don't need days. Maybe a few more seconds, to check if it has all the good seals of approval. Don't buy dodgy bananas. You won't buy bananas which have turned black, would you? So why not check the label and see if the farmers get the money they deserve? Fair trade is important. If you want to purchase an expensive mobile phone, don't follow the trend. Look deep inside yourself, and see what you need it for. Do you take a lot of pictures and want good quality? Maybe you need a phone with a good camera setup. Or are you more on social media, but don't care about images? Maybe one phone with a better chip set, which makes it run smoother, and quicker. Or, in worst case scenario, you want a specific IOS. Check every option out there. You don't want to purchase an item which looses the interest factor in just a few days, do you? You want to look at your phone in months from point of purchase, and look at it in awe, still happy with the purchase. And make sure you can afford the monthly bill. I hope this blog post was any good in informing you in what you should do and shouldn't do when you want to purchase an item. Stop and think, and research. It might give you better options, save you a few pounds/euros/dollars, and saves you from having headaches and high blood pressure. Share and leave a like below! Ps. this is not my credit card. Don't think I'm that silly!
- DJ Smurf - 1993 Megamix - Part One (2019)
Last year DJ Smurf celebrated his 25 years in the game, and the year was full on madness. If you haven't seen any of this, you have missed out on a lot. The hashtag #deng was trending. Not worldwide though, but still a trending hashtag. He made the deng, whatever the deng might be. Is that the noise when the Smurfette takes out the anal beads? Not sure. But whatever it might be, he has been giving the world the deng for a quarter of a decade. And that's impressive. His page is literally filled with hours of fun. From the craziest Terror music to whatever comes to mind, it's there. And also a mix so damn good, I couldn't let this one slip by. It's a megamix, with tracks from 1993. I think, and only I can correct myself, that this was the year I became a raver. A very young raver though. Don't let my young looks fool you: I might look 25, but I am fucking old. 36 years. So in 1993 I was 10 years old, and discovered Techno music. Obviously not the underground stuff, more the commercial side of it, but still. It was the year I became a normal human being. I left the pop scene behind, and went full on mad from that year onwards. We are now 26 years later, and 1993 was still a memorable year. So many great tunes were created, and they are still being played, even in 2020. Smurf's mix contains not the anthems, but the more obscure tracks. Not entirely true though: he has got 'Camargue' by CJ Bolland, 'The Emperor Takes Place' by The Mover, and a few more classic anthems in here. Maybe they weren't as big in the UK as they were in the rest of Europe? Anyway, the mix. You would expect Gabber or Speedcore. You are wrong. As Smurf calls these records 'acid-techno caper'. You can hear the Hardcore sound lingering in these anthems, but it wasn't really there yet. Close, but not yet ready to become humongous. The tracklist, for you Techno lovers. You'll thank me after. 01. Bourbonese Qualk - Otaku 02. The Mover - The Emperor Takes Place (2017 Remaster) 03. The Hypnotist - Pioneers Of The Warped Acid 04. Ace The Space - 9 Is A Classic [First Take] (Original Raw Street Mix) 05. Neptune - Arrival 06. Church Of Extacy - Babbahouse 07. Joe Inferno - Hypno Space 08. Mig 29 - Revolution Child (Extended Revolution Mix) 09. Jeff Mills - The Hypnotist 10. Tainted Two - The Megablast (Giving The Dog Bone Mix) 11. E-Noize - No Danger 12. Mike Dearborn - Deviant Behaviour (Instrumental Mix) 13. Novkak S - Critical Fusion (Smurf Re-Edit) 14. Millsart - Step To Enchantment (Stringent) 15. Robert Armani - Frequency 16. 3 Phase - Current 1 17. Mike Dearborn - Chaotic State 18. Dave Angel - Great Daine 19. CJ Bolland - Camargue 20. Space Trax - Bounce (Remix) 21. X-313 - Sentinels 22. Integrated Circuits - Yip! 23. Polygon Window - Quoth 24. Subjects vs Jeff Mills - Beyond.... 25. The Nighttripper - Machine City 26. The Rising Sons - Afghan Acid 27. Human Resource - Beyond The Edge (Speedy J Remix) Lovely bit of Techno music on this Wednesday. Don't you just love to hear those classic chords coming towards you at an incredible pace? Yes, DJ Smurf loves his music hard and rough, but when he goes a tad slower, he still makes excellent mixes. And this is a jewel. A proper early 90s mix. Hell yeah. Again, back in 1993, I was only 10, so I missed out on a lot of excellent tunes. And Smurf's mix is jam packed with obscure, underground anthems. A lot I have not even come across before. A delight to hear those. They might be old, but haven't aged a day! Those that I do know, are good anthems. The one that stood out for me, was 'Afghan Acid' by The Rising Sons. It was on Mysteryland 1994's third CD, and that was actually my first compilation ever. But would I classify it as my favourite record of Smurf's mix? Nope. It was difficult to choose from 27 wicked tunes, but the one that sticks out BY FAR is CJ Bolland's masterpiece 'Camargue'. What a feast to hear this monster of a tune. It doesn't matter where you are, you can play this, and crowds will loose themselves completely. Weird question, but what happened to CJ Bolland? The flow is good, the tunes are good, and it's also downloadable. What else do we need? Stay indoors, stay safe, and listen to Smurf's wicked mix from last year. It won't disappoint you. - M.I.K.E. Push - Live @ A State Of Trance Festival Utrecht (27/02/2016)
If you think of classic Trance, one of the first names that spring to mind, is M.I.K.E. Push. This Belgian legend has been active since 1992, and has been giving us music for many years. This man knows a lot about making good music: the top three records of his back catalogue are genuinely seen as the best of the best, of all time: Universal Nation, Strange World, and of course The Legacy. I can only assume that, whoever is asked to compose a top 10 list of all time favourite Trance anthems, would pick at least one of these three records made by M.I.K.E Push. Or maybe all three. This shows how great of a producer he is. He's also a great DJ, and back in 2016 he was asked to play at A State Of Trance. And will you Adam and Eve it: this set is on his Soundcloud page, and it's live: the crowd can be heard clearly. This is always an added bonus. You can always tell if a set is much appreciated when you heard the crowd scream and whistle constantly. If my ears do not lie, I can hear the crowd throughout M.I.K.E. Push's whole set, non stop. But truth be told, he has picked the finest records, and to top it all of: he has selected his three biggest anthems of all time, the ones I mentioned before. The set is an hour long, and has got 10 records in it. This obviously means that you can full extended version, no short radio edits. And boy, when the music comes in to play, you will immediately be transported to Trance Heaven! Just look at the tracklist, and you will know why I am reviewing this set right now. 4 years too late, but at least I'm reviewing it. 01. Push - Universal Nation (Original Mix) 02. Plastic Boy - Silver Bath 03. Solar Factor - Urban Shakedown 04. M.I.K.E. Push - Chiffon 05. Amir Hussain - Ethica 06. Push - Strange World (2000 Remake) 07. Dimension - Mangata 08. Sean Mathews - Paradise (Giuseppe Ottaviani Remix) 09. Push - The Legacy 10. Marcel Woods - Advanced Sweet baby Jesus. I wasn't ready for this full on Trance adventure on this glorious yet windy Sunday morning. This is a glorious set, I must admit. And you will know the set is going to be great, when you do look at the tracklist alone. Fuck me sideways, this is pure Trance. This is what I like to call Trance. Many people have got different opinions about it, but in hindsight, we are all allowed to have an opinion. But if you are thinking of making a classic Trance mix, you have to choose these records. All 10 anthems selected by Mike are genuinely the best out there. Everyone might have a different opinion about which record is the best in Mike's mix. And I fully understand that you might disagree with my choice, but I do not choose any of the three classic anthems by Push. My personal favourite is Solar Factor's 'Urban Shakedown'. I remember hearing it for the first time during Tiesto's big concert, and I have been loving it ever since. If you are thinking 'this record sounds a lot like a M.I.K.E. Push record', you are not lying: it is made by him. The legend has delivered an excellent set. Only credits for this set. And you can also download this from Soundcloud. It's like Christmas has come early for me this year. This will go on constant repeat for today. He could have easily played for longer, he is that big of a legend. But this hour at ASOT750 is just sheer madness. So cool to hear the classics again. I do miss the early sound a lot. DJ: M.I.K.E. - Karcher - High Pressure Cleaner HD 5/12 C Plus
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, another product review. This time it's a pressure cleaner from Kärcher. Last week I bought a brand new lawn mower, but this week I had this urge to get a pressure cleaner/washer. And there's only one brand that comes to mind: Kärcher. When, back in my homeland, I used to work at a service station, I always used a Kärcher high pressure cleaner, be it for the carwash, wash boxes, or just generally everywhere around the pumps, the tiling, the outside of the shop. Basically anywhere that needs a good machine to clean thoroughly. Kärcher is the brand you need. But they are also not cheap. You can get a simple and affordable high pressure washer for around £100, but the job I had in mind required power so intense, a simplistic machine would not be able to do the job. So I had to look at options. One of the options was to rent the cleaner. My good friend told me about HSS Hire. Seeing as I'm not from this country and not familiar with any renting outlets, I followed his advise. And the cost is quite affordable! Buy the machine brand new, and the total price would be around £650 from the manufacturer directly. Or rent it from a rental source, like HSS Hire, for an affordable price. You can have the item for 1 day, for £22.50. An extra day? No worries, £9.38 extra. If you need it for a weekend, you can. £26.25. Or if you feel rather excited and need it for a week? £37.50. I did it for a week. The item is still in my garden, and boy, has it done the job well! As you can see clearly from the images in the slideshow above, it has done the work brilliantly. And yes, before anyone gets upset, I know I have not followed the health and safety protocol. I was wearing standard trainers by Adidas, which are obviously now ruined for life. HSS Hire did provide me with 2 leaflets in regards to how to operate the equipment, and all the health and safety requirements. As I am as daft as a person can be, and me having experience in the past with Kärcher, I just went straight into cleaning the garden. With ruined sneakers as a result. Oh well, it was damn well worth it! Setting the machine up was dead easy. Like, really easy. I can speak out of experience (15+ years of experience back in NL), but even if you were a newbie to this high pressure world, you can set this up quite easily. No tools required. The delivery was speedy and on time, and it came with everything I needed. And as you can see from the images above, I also paid for the cleaner and degreaser. I had to use the whole 5 litres just to get the garden back in 'normal' conditions. The garden has not been done for donkeys years. So it needed a treatment. I planned this for many years, but always had issues, seeing as the house did not have an outside tap. But we found one, hidden away from the rest of the world. Hence why everything now went in quick mode: I can do now things I've been wanting to do for years! And cleaning the back garden was always a 'must do'. Truth be told, it just had to be done. It had run its course, and it was kind of neglected. It wasn't filthy or anything, it was just dirty. We do live in the London area, and it could be coming from the sky? Could be pollution? It wasn't dark of colour because we BBQ nearly every week (I wish). It just happened. The machine has a flow rate of 500 litres per hour, with an operating pressure level of 120 bar, max pressure being 175 bar. It is a hefty machine: with all the accessories attached it weighs around 25 kg. It's a big boy, but with weight you do get more power. It does come with some safety features. You do obviously need to provide your own garden hose, and power supply cable (if required). The retractable small hose for the cleaning product is quite handy: when used, you just simply push it back into the machine, and it's out of sight. The handle bar can also be reduced in length: press the big yellow button on the top of the machine, and it will fall down with ease. During the cleaning process of the garden I did made a mess of myself, and was covered in dirt from top to bottom. And as you can see from the images, my shoes were ruined. But still OK. The main question is: has the Kärcher done the job, and has it done it correctly? My answer to that is 'yes'. A big, fat, YES. I won't comment on the whole process of ordering and returning the product to HSS Hire, seeing as the item is still here. But the ordering process was really simple, and easy. You might want to look at purchasing a cleaner yourself if you require it multiple times throughout the year and not only once. But if you only require it once every so often, you could simply just hire the item. Speaking out of experience, I do know that the Kärchers always last a long time. They are expensive, but can take a beating. A proper beating. Sadly, when they do break, it's costly, but seeing as it was covered by my company, I didn't need to worry. I think that in 15+ years I only ever had to purchase a new cleaner, a few nozzle heads, and that's basically it. Let's put down the pros and cons, and see if the product is worth the pennies... CONS: * Big bulky machine * Expensive * Widely used as a professional machine rather than used at home. * Provided cleaning product didn't do much. Pressure washer did everything itself PROS: * Quality over quantity * High pressure * Quick assembly * Quirky features, including retractable hose * Free delivery if order via Kärcher directly So, is the Kärcher worth the money? I would say yes. If you do require it more than once a year, I would purchase it directly from Kärcher (or look for other options). Or if that's too dear, and you only require the pressure cleaner once, go and see if you can rent it for a specific length of time, as long as the job requires you to use the machine. The weight is an issue, but the machine comes with two wheels. I wouldn't say it's easy to manoeuvre, and you do need both arms to move it from a to b, but it is still operational, wherever you need it. The garden looks like it's brand new, and has made me happier. But the wife, she has to judge it. And she has given it the thumbs up. Thanks Kärcher and HSS Hire. I will use them more in the future. Maybe, and I use the word lightly, I might do the front garden path tomorrow? I need to see if my shoes have dried tomorrow. If not, hey ho, maybe another day. - jerOO - Isolation Pt.1 (2020)
The mighty jerOO is back! Remember the time when he made so many excellent mixes, and all of a sudden he vanished? That made me sad. I really appreciated his music, and he became a living legend after he made a mix for us! Only a handful of people have become legends, and jerOO is one of them. But all jokes aside, he mentioned that he got his decks out due to quarantine/COVID-19. A lot of bad things have happened due to COVID-19, but also a few good things. And this return of jerOO, I consider as a good thing. According to the info underneath the mix, he will be uploading a few more mixes. So be ready to be amazed. How funny is it, that only a handful of days ago I was talking about Dubstep and the 'lack' of mixes, and now jerOO has come back. It's like all the stars were aligned when I said that. And I also reviewed his TCD mix a couple of months ago. Yeah, I'm a bit of a fanboy of jerOO. I hope this means he will stay with us a bit longer. Or makes at least 100 mixes. If he does that, that's fine. But we do need a lot of these Dubstep/Grime mixes. They are so extremely chill. I've missed out on a lot, so I'm not familiar with most of the artists in this mix. If you are, give yourself a pat on the shoulder. Congratulations. 01. Commodo - Loan Shark 02. Trekka - Lion Tribe 03. ENiGMA Dubz - The Eyes VIP 04. Roklem - Fern Dub 05. Maes - Rivia 06. ENiGMA Dubz - Enlightenment Trust me, this mix is dope. This is jerOO. Yes, he's back! Thanks COVID-19 for reuniting the world with this legend. Proof that there is a God, and he loves Dubstep. And yeah, good choice. Anyway, the mix. I do rant on and on constantly. It's the being inside that drives me mad. And lack of Maccie Dee. But let's put our 'serious' hat on. jerOO's mix is as you would expect it to be: on point, and so freaking good. The vibes throughout this mix are generally good. I do feel kind of relaxed, and mellow, but yet I feel this deep urge inside, to release myself fully on the dancefloor. Powerful and emotional music. People underestimate Dubstep, and think it's only this weird noise. It's certainly NOT. Want proof? Just listen to any of jerOO's mixes. I've got no complaints whatsoever. The only thing I would urge people to do, is show your love and appreciation for jerOO. And check out his previous mixes, and future mixes. Another epic mix this surely is. Can't wait to hear more from him. Best record? 'Badmouth (Dem A Talk)'. You know why once you hear it! - ATTLAS - Storyline: Vol 1 (2016)
Sometime during your life, you will find an artist who impresses you that much, you become fascinated about him/her. To me, the biggest surprise of my life so far, has got to be ATTLAS. And I fully understand if he's not your cup of tea, but to me, his music and his mixes are awe inspiring. Breathtakingly beautiful. And the way he puts his sets together, something so unique, and refreshing. To me he's inspiring, and every single mix on his Soundcloud page has been played over and over by yours truly. This is the ultimate music to me. Music that I can picture being played when I'm on my way to the gates of Hell or Heaven. And I wouldn't mind hearing this for the rest of my eternal life. Music can grab you, and hold on to you. Music can move you. You can hate it, and love it at the same time. You can literally be filled with emotions, and be happy that you do. I could close my eyes for the duration of this mix, and open my eyes after 53 minutes, and be as happy as a human could ever be.One of the reasons why I would be happy, is the way the mix is presented. ATTLAS' way of composing a mix is to incorporate move snippets/clips. God knows which movies, but the way he cuts and paste these bits together makes it feel like ATTLAS is telling a story. A story so gripping, you cannot let it go. You have to listen until the end. I've not figured out yet what the actual story is. But once I hear this mix, I let my mind go completely blank, and I just say 'fuck it all' to the world. I am lost, but found at the same time. I am here, there, and nowhere. I've heard this mix so many times now, it has become an obsession to me. I need to hear it at least once a week. Well, technically not just this individual mix, but anything by ATTLAS. And when he did the two livesets recently, I have played those over and over again. The repeat button on Soundcloud is just magnificent. I know I have reviewed this in the past, but I had to bring this to your attention again. Probably one of the coolest and most relaxing mixes you will ever hear. A stunning mix by an absolute legend. 01. Jens-Uwe Beyer - Hands 02. Jeremy Olander - Lunar 03. Ripperton - A Skilift Upstairs The Sleeping City (Max Cooper Remix) 04. ATTLAS - Red 05. ATTLAS - Parallel Lines 31. Ryan Adams - Dear Chicago I don't have a good explanation on how to describe ATTLAS' approach to dance music, but what I do know, is what he does, he does it extremely well! This was one of my first introductions into his wonderful musical journey, and it has been one of the most pleasantly surprising mixes of all time. I was not expecting this to happen, and to have been delivered to me. You know that certain mixes will just 'please' you, and some are simply 'okay', but once every so often you do get a mix, which blows you away, blows you into smithereens. This is exactly that mix. Uploaded 4 years ago, and I'm still loving it. And with me, around 280k people. I wish he would add tracklists to his latest uploads, so I can share those with you guys. You know, ATTLAS is my hero. No, I don't care where he lives, what kind of hair product he uses, who his favourite Backstreet Boy is, I simply do not give a flying fuck about that. What I do care about, is the music that he releases. And mixes together, obviously. Euphoria, that is exactly the mood I'm in right now. With this coming towards me through my speakers, it makes me a happier man. A happy person. Relaxed. And alone. Protected in my big ass bubble. Nothing can hurt me when I hear this. The only thing I've got to mention before you all press play, is that (to me) this is one of the best mixes of all time. And I do mean it. At least a top three contender. Superstar DJ and producer. My personal favourite progressive House producer. A superstar. A legend. One epic mix. Side note: even though I really dislike Bjork's voice and generally everything related to her music, it did fit in well. Weird. - Melissa x FatKidOnFire Mix (2020)
Dubstep. Does that even still exist? And if so, how come I'm not hearing more Dubstep mixes? Please elaborate it all for me, please. I need to know. How come it has flown underneath my radar? When it came out of the blue, I really appreciated it, and even in 2020 I got a fuzzy feeling in my tummy when I see the word 'Dubstep'. A good fuzzy feeling, if truth be told. And today, the day of all days, Dubstep has re-entered my life. This mix, which was uploaded onto FatKidOnFire's Soundcloud page (I know, the name itself is funny as fuck), was made by Melissa. They have created this Diversity in Dubstep mix series, to highlight an issue that has risen over the years, but thankfully is fading into obscurity. Not only is it important to give everyone a chance, not just in the Dubstep scene, but in all scenes. And as far as I can tell, in a lot of scenes this is the case. But why not give the female DJs a stage, a place to shine? I think it's a good idea of FKOF, and I hope the mix series gets a lot of attention. But most of all: give the ladies behind each mix credit for their musical input in the scene. Melissa. I've not seen her name before, but then again I've not been following the scene for a few years. Yes, I've heard a mix here and there, but that's not enough, is it? Today I'm sitting down, and letting Melissa's mix take over my own airwaves. So what's in this mix, which tunes can we all hear? 01. Die By The Sword - Sands Of Time (Dub) 02. Taiko - Slingshot Dub 03. Cartridge - Brute 04. Proove - 8th Hour (Dub) 05. ALXZNDR - Golden Gate 06. Gundam - Swordplay 07. Dead Noise System - Paradox 08. 11th Hour - Bravo Zulu 09. Somah - How We Move 10. Rockstone - Creation 11. MCMM - Haven't You 12. Alix Perez - Ravana 13. Loefah - Natural Charge 14. ALXZNDR - M C W 15. Teffa - Deep Meditation 16. Scarz - Ouroboros (Dub) 17. Taiko - Giant Big Man 18. Kontent - Corrupt Dub 19. Khiva - Chuckles Revenge 20. The Widdler - Mixtape Style 21. Sepia - Think Fast (Dub) 22. Sempra - Ifritah 23. ALXZNDR - Midnight In Mumbai (Dub) I've got to say that I'm not familiar with any of the names, any of these artists. They just don't ring a bell, you see. It's been too freaking long, mate. I need to get reintroduced into the scene. And to all the excellent music out there. I should thank Melissa for doing exactly that. Not only do you get an hour and 4 minute long mix, but also an interview. Their website has got some issues, but if you can bypass them, you will be able to read Melissa's interview, and previous interview too. I tried, but my anti virus system did shut everything down. Couldn't handle it. Even though it wasn't dodgy at all. Wahay, at least I've got the music. And it's exactly what I wanted to hear, to unwind. After a hard day at work, you just want to unload yourself of any stress. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is just picture perfect. This is the kind of style that I appreciate, at any given time. Morning, afternoon, evening, night.... doesn't matter when, I'll listen to it. Melissa, you are new to me, but your mix is fire! Really lit (as the kids would say). I love discovering new talent, and hearing their perspective on the style/scene. And my introduction into Melissa's world has been great. A really interesting and insightful mix. The bass was coming through my speakers hard. I freaking loved it. More of this, please! More Dubstep! - Panic Live! - Classic Gabber 92 - 94 Mix (2020)
It's bloody 5 o'clock in the morning, and I am wide awake. Haven't slept whatsoever. I was tossing and turning in bed, and decided after 2 hours to get up, and go downstairs. So here I am, fully awake, listening to some Hardcore music from the early 90s, mixed together by the DJ we all love, Panic. And recently he has uploaded a few of his Facebook/Youtube live sessions. The one I'm currently listening to, was recorded on the 10th of April, and lasts around 2 hours. 2 Hours of fucking early Hardcore music. The golden years, 1992 until 1994. I think it was late 1992, or early 1993, when I discovered Hardcore music. Still a young lad, I couldn't go to any parties until bloody 1998, but I was a full on Hardcore fanatic. Really loved the early sound. It holds the most memories. Listening to these mixes on shitty cassettes, walking around with your Sony My First Walkman with those big headphones, with shitty quality. Those were the days. Well, not when it comes to the music quality: the present day is much better. But for nostalgic reasons I do miss the early 90s. I don't know why Panic started this online thing. Maybe he's done it before, maybe he was bored?God knows, I sadly missed it. Does anyone know if he's going to do a session anytime soon? Well, it's time for the tracklist. 61 records in a 2 hour long mix. All Hardcore from 1992/1993/1994. The early years. You will love it. And it will make you realise that we are getting towards 30 years of Hardcore music soon. Unbelievable. 30 years. Pfff. 01. Moby - Thousand 02. The Mover - The Emperor Takes Place 03. T. Boom Terrorism - Gabberhouse (Jailhouse Inferno Remix) Now, I'm not saying that the early sound was the best of the best ever. Of course a shit tons of crap records have been made, that's just inevitable. But thankfully Panic left most of them out of this mix. A few have snuck in, but thankfully not many. It's good to see such a cool tracklist. From the well known anthems by the scene's biggest names, to the more obscure and underground stuff. It's a real treat for those who love and have embraced the early Hardcore/Gabber stuff. Panic's mix is literally full of the early stuff, and for 2 hours he's got you by the balls. I know it's fucking silly o'clock, and normal people should be in bed, but I am awake, listening to Hardcore music. Dedication, and a tad stupidity. But I don't mind. If you have a mix and start it off with Moby's 'Thousand', I just can't push you away from me and ignore you. I have to listen to you, and love you. Panic's mix is just really dope. A few small recording errors, but nothing major. A few shitty tracks, but I would say that 95% of the records selected are awesome. And the best? Well, it was difficult, but I have chosen 'Acid Yell' by Deaz D., remixed by Gizmo. Such an underrated anthem. Was that the same DJ who later did stuff with Bitte Ein Beat? It's Sunday, fucking let's have it! Turn up the volume to the max, and rave the morning/afternoon away. Gabber 4 Life. I should pay more attention on social media. Really would have liked to see Panic in action, doing his thing. But hey, as the wife always says, I'm late. Soundcloud to the rescue! - The Infected Raw Podcast 02 Raw Classics (2020)
No, this blog isn't about how future raves should be attended, and what the dress code should be like. It might seem that I am going to discuss the above picture, but clearly I am not. Not bothered, in that case. I am more focussed on the music that these two lads are bringing to the table. The lads I'm talking about are Infectious DJ's. Again, they are not carriers of the COVID-19 virus, or any other virus of any kind, it just seems that their name is quite suitable/funny during this weird period in our lives. I've reviewed stuff made them before, but I cannot remember when that actually was, must be a long time ago. And now they've got this new podcast/mix series. I'm guessing that this will be a monthly podcast? They finish the mix info with 'tune in next month', so I'm guessing that they might do that. It would be nice to have them release a podcast every month. The second instalment has only been uploaded 1 day ago, and I am already all over it. It's been a while, you see, since I last heard a Rawstyle mix. It's been too long: I need my fix, and I need it right now. So, what kind of classics have they used for this mix, eh? Here's the tracklist: 01. Ran-D & B-Front - Rebirth 02. Ran-D - My Way 03. E-Force & Frequencerz - Men Of Steel 04. Frontliner & Radical Redemption - Frontliner & Radical Redemption 05. Alpha Twins & Jack Of Sound - Das Weite Land 17. B-Freqz - Overdose 18. E-Force - Blood Written 19. Delete - Formula (2012 Edit) 20. Radical Redemption - Annihilate 21. Radical Redemption - Civil Disobedience 22. Adaro feat Danny Scandal - For The Street 23. Regain - Broken It made me think though: they stated that these were classic records, and I was thinking to myself that these records aren't that old, and then I went for a quick look online, and found out that they are older than I thought them to be. Obviously I didn't go through them all, but I remember 'Torture' when I was a few years younger. Turns out it's around 11 years old! Fuck me, where has the time gone to? Well, how old they might be, they still pack a punch, even in 2020. A good selection by the Infectious boys. Really enjoyed this mix. Forgot about a few of the records they have selected. But then again, I cannot keep up with everything and every trend and every update lol. I'm not a walking Wikipedia page. I need to delete some cache/cookies from time to time, and sometimes that means that I forget a track even existed! Best track in this mix? It was difficult, but you have to give all the credit to 'Torture' by Crypsis and Luna. I'm still feeling the force behind this records, and love it. It still makes me want to torture someone for real. But more importantly, I want to raise my fists to the heavens and stomp my feet hard on the ground. A Hardstyle classic, that's for sure. - Tesla Tracks (2020)
Tesla Tracks. Ever heard of it? Well, it's not the label run by Elon Musk, but by our own Greg Peaks, and he's been releasing a lot of excellent Freeform music since the label was created. The majority of anthems are made or remade or remixed by Greg Peaks. He's involved in his own project a lot, and that's good, because we know Greg loves and makes excellent Freeform music. But does this mix do his label and his hard work any justice? Is it worth your precious time? The answer is yes, and as you would expect, this mix has been made by a regular to this website: M@rt!n-J. Yet another mix for us die hard Freeform fanatics. It's unbelievable: he keeps on making mixes over and over again. He never stops. Does he actually have time to breathe? But all jokes aside, he has done it yet again, and I would like to thank him for making my Friday evening even better. The mix contains ONLY records released on Tesla Tracks. That should be a no-brainer. Simple maths. 16 tracks in 66 minutes. We are all being treated nicely today. Well, it has been a shit day today, so let's end it on a high note, and rave until the morning Sun arrives! Press play right now! 01. Greg Peaks & Transcend - Reboot 02. Greg Peaks - Energy 03. Greg Peaks - Technician 04. Greg Peaks - Music Spheres 05. Poisecore - Awakening 06. Ephexis - Intensify (Greg Peaks & Solution Remix) 07. Greg Peaks - Love That Passion 08. Douglas - Ice Cream (Greg Peaks' XXTC Remix) 09. Ponder - Alignment (Greg Peaks' Ultra Violet Remix) 10. Greg Peaks - Darkness 11. Greg Peaks - Now 12. Greg Peaks - From Concentrate 13. Greg Peaks - States Of Consciousness 14. Greg Peaks - Deadly Nightshade 15. Greg Peaks & Kevin Energy - Bang Clara 16. Greg Peaks - Over The Moon Well, this mix delivers. Just what I need. I am sitting here, in my 'home' office, and I've had to listen to bloody radio the whole 8 hours, but after my shift finished (and my wife finished working too), it became my 'music' room. I dictate in this room what kind of music is being played. The only room in the house I'm allowed to do so. Anyway, M@rt!n-J delivers yet another mix, and he has picked a huge player in the Freeform scene. Tesla Tracks is a boss label, and Greg Peaks is a boss too. Just listen to this mix. Let the music come through those flimsy speakers, and let them enrich you fully. You need this kind of music, to relieve yourself from a hard day at work. And most of us do have hard days at work, so why not reload yourself of stress, and let Tesla take you into another dimension. No, this mix is not to celebrate Elon Musk's music career, or to get the fanboys of Tesla hyped up. Well, you could drive a Tesla AND listen to this mix. How's that for a combo? A good one. Tesla Tracks, music for our future. I'm joking, as I usually do. But I'm loving the vibes. I love the tracks, each and every one of them. You can tell it's a Greg track, it's got this distinctive sound, so recognisable, but then you think you know what is coming, and he hits you hard with a deep drop, or fantastic bit of musical bla bla I cannot even describe. Heavenly. The best one in this mix? Well, fair is fair, the first record in this mix. Can't remember when I heard this for the first time, but it blew me into a million pieces. Two bosses, together in one track. A wicked Freeform mix. Now go, and enjoy the upcoming weekend. And stay safe, don't do anything I wouldn't do. Save the NHS, save yourself too! - KUSHTI. « XL Recordings » (2020)
True ravers know about the existence of XL Recordings, and how big of an impact they had for us ravers. Maybe the younger generation know of its existence because of Adele, but to me the label always represented the majestic 90s and the raving community it co-created. In my younger years I did collect a few albums, released by XL Recordings (well, I'm lying: they were all The Prodigy albums, who am I kidding?). Over the years I have been digging deep to find mixes focussed on labels such as XL, and I have come across this mix only earlier today, an XL Recordings dedication mix, by someone called Kushti. What this DJ has done, is quite cool. Literally played all the records in order. So from the first XLT-01 to XLT-49, all rave anthems included in this mix. From the early House stuff to the Breakbeat slammers to the whatever you fancy. It is in this mix. And the funny thing is, that there are a ton of unknown records in here. I've not indulged myself fully in XL Recordings' rich history, but it seems to be impressive. Obviously I know the main anthems by artists such as The Prodigy, SL2, T99, Ellis Dee, but there are also a few in here I've not heard before. A trip down memory lane, for some. If you are old enough to remember these, you will instantly have a huge smile on your face, when you see the tracklist. Let me show it to you: 01. 2 In Rhythm - We Want Funk (Original Mix) 02. Ellis Dee - Took My Love Away (Sound Factory Mix) 03. Looney Tunes - Just As Long As I Got You (Original Version) 04. Flowmasters - Let It Take Control (Radio Version) 05. Subliminal Aura - Ease The Pressure (State Of Mind Mix) 06. Ellis Dee - I Will Survive (At The Club Mix) 07. Centrefield Assignment - Mi Casa (Mi Condo Mix) 08. 2 In Rhythm - Bionic Boogie (Ride The Groove Mix) 09. Hardcore - Get A Little Stupid (Backroom Remix) 10. Space Opera - Space 3001 (Part 1) 11. Fantasy UFO - Fantasy (Melt The Speaker) 12. The Prodigy - Android 13. John & Julie - Circles (Spiral Mix) 14. T99 - Anasthasia (Dub Mix) 15. Cubic 22 - Night In Motion (Drum & Bass Dub) 16. The Prodigy - Pandemonium 17. Set Up System - Fairy Dust (Frank De Wulf's Saga Remix) 18. SL2 - Way In My Brain 19. UHF - UHF 20. The Prodigy - Everybody In The Place 21. Liquid - Sweet Harmony 22. SL2 - On A Ragga Tip 23. The Prodigy - Fire (Sunrise Version) 24. Dance Conspiracy - Dub War (Chapter 1) 25. The Prodigy - Music Reach 1234 26. SL2 - Drumbeats 27. Dome Patrol - Ontac 28. Liquid - Liquid 29. Jonny L - Mother Acid I have to say that the track selection is really great. So many great rave anthems. True oldskool lovers, eat your heart out. This is what made our raving history be even more special. Yes, we have had many other label pushing music forward, but XL, come on, they have released some records. Records and a half. Just look at this tracklist. That's the only positive comment I can give sadly. Normally I am very generous, but today I sadly couldn't be. The mixing, is really atrocious. I've never heard of KUSHTI before, but he/she might want to check the actual mix before uploading. This is not probably their proudest moment. Too many errors. I'm talking cross fading errors, too early jumping into the next track, or even skipping records. This was sadly poorly executed. I would give this mix a pass. Not something you would want to listen to, if you want to go back in time. It would only annoy you slightly. The mixing is of such a poor quality, it ruins the records KUSHTI has used. The best record, is 'Fire' by the Prodigy. If certain mixing capabilities are improved, the mix might be salvable. The mix sadly isn't custhy. Or however Del Boy would spell it. But for now this mix is one I wouldn't rate at all, but sadly, here it goes: DJ: Kushti Genre/Style: Rave, Oldskool, Breakbeat Hardcore, House Mix Info: KUSHTI. <> Length Mix: 01:00:34 Tracks: 29 (twenty-nine) Download/Listen (via Soundcloud): LISTEN HERE File Size: unknown File Type: unknown Audio: Stereo Sample Rate: unknown More Information: Solid Sound FM - Soundcloud Page
- Flymo Easimo Lawn Mower
Product Number 238372 A lawn mower should do the trick. And should be easy to use, and easy to put together. This is why we had to purchase a new lawn mower last Saturday (bought at Tesco, not available online) for £60. Our old lawn mower simply died after a few years in service. Simple as it looked, it was sadly a devastating nightmare to use. The wheels would regularly come off, the handlebar was a nightmare, and the one/off button would sometimes work, and sometimes decided to remain an 'off' button only. And the blade wasn't cutting the grass as good as you would expect. Electric malfunctioning led up to me purchasing the Flymo Easimo. And I've never felt more pleased. Living in a house with a humongous garden has a disadvantage. Cutting the grass isn't always the best thing to do, but when it's nearly as tall as I am (183 cm) and as thick as the jungle, it needs to be done. The new lawn mower was the option, to replace the already dead one. I remembered that we walked through the gardening section at our Tesco, and it was on offer, for £60. I didn't think much of it at the time, because we had a 'working' mower, but once I got everything ready in the garden, karma hit, and it hit hard. I should have picked it up in the first place. Back in the queue at the supermarket, and after about 15 minutes waiting, we purchased the item (alongside a few necessities). Happy as a kid, I immediately decided to unbox the item in the garden (seeing as everything was ready to go), and opened the box. As 'complicated' as the item looks in the above picture, it was dead easy to assemble. The assembly process was simply, yet the instructions weren't clear. Not as clear as I hoped them to be. But thankfully I had my thinking cap on, and figured it out. After putting everything together and plugging it into the socket, it just buzzed into life. We were greeted with the nice humming sound of a lawn mower, one that actually works. The positioning of the wheels can be adjusted, for cutting purposes. The lower the wheels are, the lower the grass will be cut. This is easy if you have a simply straight forward garden without any humps and bumps, but if it has small irregular sections, you need to raise the wheels slightly. There are several settings, so it will please a wide range of users (only with a garden; the item is useless if you live in a flat). The 'load' capacity is also great. It clearly indicates when it's full, and removing the part from the main mower is dead easy. The hook points do feel a tad flimsy, but if you use it with caution, you won't have anything to worry about. The garden was done in no time. Again, it was easy to set up, and also easy to use. Even the small detail of having two handle bars operate as 'power', that makes a difference. If you want to relieve your hand from movement, on other mowers you are limited to one side only, to operate the machine. This Flymo gives you the option to be more efficient, and reduces physical stress on certain body parts. Job done. I couldn't wish for a better garden tool. Simple, yet effective. Expectations met. And for the amount we purchased it for, it was worth every penny. This item will make gardening fun again. The way it supposed to be. PRO's: * simple to assemble * easy to use * load capacity good * adjustable wheel heights * reduces physical stress on body parts CON's: * instruction not clear * tethering points for the load basket flimsy * useless if you live in a flat I will give this item a TCD score. This is my personal view, and based on my own personal experience. The item has been purchased by myself, and will be used as long as it will last. And hopefully it will last me longer than the previous mower. Also make sure you check out Flymo's official website for more gardening tools.
- Break The Beats (Old School Mix) (2015)
Today has been a great day. Really a good day. Yeah, I cut my finger by accident, but everything else has been extraordinary. I do mean it. Not only privately is it going well, but music wise it's going epic. No joke though: I've got yet another new mix for you guys and girls to hear. And absorb the excellent music that came out during the early years of the decade us millennials like to call 'the 90s'. And if there's one scene dominating everything during the 90s, it has got to be the rave scene. Negative A, a.k.a. Dr. Z-Vago, has made a mix a few years ago. And when I say a few years ago, I mean like half a decade ago: the mix is 5 years old, and I only discovered it a few weeks back. But no worries: at least I have discovered it. And if you haven't, well, let this be your introduction into the 'Break The Beats Old School mixtape. And it's a big one, ladies and gentlemen (and everyone else, who does not categorise themselves as either gender). Negative A has dug deep in his record collection, and has selected really the creme de la creme of anthems. If you were old enough to be raving at the times these tunes were smashing dancefloors all over the world, you should consider yourself lucky. You have experienced a decade I really wanted to experience, but sadly I'm a 1983 kid. Too young to go to underground raves. But hearing the stories and seeing those clips online makes me wonder how I would be as a person, if I was actually there? Anyway, time for the tracklist. Be ready for some eye porn! 01. 4 Hero - Mr. Kirk's Nightmare 02. Fast Eddie - Yo You Get Funky 03. Carl Cox - I Want You (Forever) (Full On Mix) 04. Deep Trip - Techno Mix 05. SL2 - Changing Trax 06. Altern 8 - Evapor8 (Inciner8 Mix) 07. X-Static - Free 08. The Prodigy - Pandemonium 09. DJ Seduction - Hardcore Heaven 10. Bass Construction - Dance With Power 11. SL2 - DJ's Take Control 12. Digital Domain - Aside 13. A Homeboy, A Hippie And A Funky Dredd - Start The Panic 14. The Prodigy - Charly 15. Altern 8 - DJ Nex's Break 16. Altern 8 - Hypnotic St-8 (Higher St-8 Mix) 17. The Hypnotist - This Is My House 18. SL2 - The Noise (The Remix) 19. Liquid - Sweet Harmony 20. Tronikhouse - Up Tempo 21. The Prodigy - Android 22. Altern 8 - Armageddon (Radi8 Mix) 23. SL2 - Way In My Brain 24. Sonz Of A Loop Da Loop Era - Far Out 25. DJ's Unite - DJ's Unite 26. The Bouncer - Kicks Like A Mule 27. The Hypnotist - Hardcore U Know The Score 28. Frank The Wulf - Moribund (Remix) 29. Jonny L - Hurt You So 30. English Muffin - Dust Muffin 31. SL2 - On A Ragga Tip 32. The Psychopaths - Beats & Culture 33. N.R.G. - He Never Lost His Hardcore 34. The Prodigy - Everybody In The Place 35. Edge 1 - Compnded 36. Holy Noise - The Nightmare (Let Me Hear You Scream) 37. D.M.S. - Vengeance 38. Killerloops - Murder One 39. Smart-E's - Sesame's Street That's a tracklist and a half. This is proper Old School, if I'm honest. Boy, a lot of early memories of my childhood have re-emerged, and I'm reliving the time I was listening to these tunes over and over again. Negative A's track selection is truly astonishing. You cannot call a mix an Oldskool mix without at least a few of these monsters in there. Wow, just the impact of each individual track on the scene has been tremendous. SL2, Altern 8, The Prodigy, Carl Cox, Fast Eddie, DJ Seduction, the list goes on. Big names, and their tracks are still loved, and played in 2020. Well, if no one else is, I will. Fuck it. I'll keep the oldskool vibe going until the day I die, and I don't care what the masses say about it. Only love and admiration for this mix. Sadly not downloadable, but forever on Soundcloud. So you can listen to it, whenever and wherever you want to (if you've got the app of course). And that's certainly what I'll be doing. A fantastic mix, with no errors, or fuck ups. Just picture perfect. If you want more of this rarity mixes, go and check out Negative A's Soundcloud. I think there's an early Hip Hop/RnB mix there, and also an early Hardcore/Gabber mix. Certainly worth checking out. - Club Mix 001 (2020)
This review is kind of special. It's made by one of my former colleagues, who I've worked with for about 2 years. We both moved away from our workplace, and I think he went up North, to pursue a different career. Well, I didn't, but that's okay. Even though we don't communicate as much as we did before, I did remember him being the party animal of the company. Name a big event, and he's been there. And not just stories to share, he also had images to back them up. A true party animal. He loves his EDM. He loves it a lot. And that's really good. Not many people are into this kind of music. Not many I know of, who I've worked with. Most of my (former) colleagues only listen to the standard top 40 crap. They do not tend to experiment with music whatsoever. Kind of boring, isn't it? EDM is the future, and we know it. This is where Chris Hawkins comes in. His first club mix, uploaded about 2 weeks ago, has got those wicked EDM anthems in it. A nice Club/House mix. Not only a party animal, but also a DJ. Chris, if you are reading this; if you are going to perform at EDC in a few years time, make sure you send one ticket to me. #justsaying Here's the tracklist, for you club fanatics. 01. Kanye West x Lil Pump - I Love It (Riffa Remix) 02. 50 Cent feat Justin Timberlake - Ayo Technology (Chris Ultranova Remix) 03. Aitch - Taste (MDB Remix) 04. Dave - Professor X (Lawrence James Remix) 05. Kanye West vs Antoine Delvig x JP Candela - Hey! All Of The Lights (PBH & Jack Private Edit) 06. Joel Corry - Lonely (Apollo Remix) 07. Kid Ink feat Chris Brown - Show Me (Level Up! & K-Kyoto Remix) 08. Macklemore vs SMBAC - Can't Manhattan (Nicola Lucioli Mashup) 09. Riton x Oliver Heldens vs Cher - Turn Believe On (LIKEWISE Edit) 10. Meduza - Lose Control (Nagilo Remix) 11. Stormzy - Own It (Back N Fourth Bootleg) 12. Travis Scott feat Drake - Sicko Mode (James Hype VIP Mix) 13. T2 - Heartbroken (Shay.K Remix) 14. Wiley feat Skepta, JME & Ms D - Can You Hear Me (Jacked Remix) 15. Kungs vs Cookin On 3 Burners - This Girl (William Ribeiro & Marina Diniz Remix) 16. Lil Nas X - Old Town Road (Alex Tozzo Club Remix) 17. RHCP x Fisher - Otherside (Switch Disco Edit) 18. Bee Gees vs Dom Dolla - Stayin Sanfrandisco (Fresh Kiwi Mashup) 19. AJ Tracey - Ladbroke Grove (James Hype VIP) 20. Kardinal Offishall feat Akon - Dangerous (Jacked DUBMIX Remix) 21. Alyx Ander & Dallerium - Spotlight (Original Mix) 22. Sam Smith & Normani - Dancing With A Stranger (Studio9 Remix) I have to say that, even though I love music, I never heard any of these records before. Well, regulars to this website know I love my music slightly harder and faster, and I do miss out on other styles, such as Club and House. I do know some original records, like T2, Kanye West, 50 Cent, etc, but the majority are unknown to me. Maybe I should invest my time now in searching for more mixes like this one, and see what's out there? Chris' mix contains a lot of nice versions of already wicked anthems. A nice mellow mix to start my Sunday morning with. An hour of Chris in the mix. I do like the mix. The build up is alright, and he's got some dancefloor fillers in his mix. I know he also DJ's in clubs, so he's not just a bedroom DJ. Never had the chance to hear him perform, but hey, it might happen after this COVID-19 is over. But for now, we can only appreciate music being mixed in mainly living rooms and bedrooms. A few small minor errors occurred. Nothing major. Cross fading errors. But nothing to be embarrassed about. A good attempt to create a wicked Sunday morning chill mix. And it does have nice anthems in here. What else would you want? Keep the mixes coming, Chris. Hope you are okay. - Omar Santana - Fire In The Brain - Tape 2 (1997)
Last year, in April, I reviewed Omar's Fire In The Brain mixtape. This mixtape was divided into two tapes, and I only heard the first one. Seeing as Omar Santana has been quite active on social media lately, I thought I might give the old Soundcloud a browse. And guess what? I found the second mixtape! Obviously the one place I had to go to was magpie303's page. If you want to visit the ultimate Hardcore page on Soundcloud, his page is the best place to go to. With nearly 6 and a half thousands records (mostly mixes), he gives us our daily Hardcore injection, which we all need. And sometimes he finds these hidden gems, ones I've not even heard or seen before, like Omar's mixtape. If truth be told, I was always into tapes, but only home made ones. I think I only ever had about 5-10 tapes pre-recorded. For example, this mixtape was released around 1997, I was only 13, and wasn't making much money. Only money gained from delivering newspapers, and boy, that was shit. The internet did exist, but not to me. I had to rely on our local music store, and they weren't into Hardcore tapes. They focussed on CDs mostly, so that's where my money went to. And we can complain about everything, but CD quality always wins over cassette quality. Always. How endearing the crackling noise might sound, and rewinding the tape with a pencil can be quite intoxicating, but CD quality was always better. So maybe that's why tapes were never in my eye of sight. But, in a weird way, I do hate myself for not investing any pennies into mixtapes. Still wouldn't have a clue how I would retrieve them back in the mid 90s. Again, it wasn't widely available as such, and I wasn't even allowed to have anything Hardcore related in our house: my mum banned the music from our house. Literally throw albums away, if she knew it was 'Thunderdome'-ish. So I was always fucked, had to hide them everywhere. But mum being mum, she always found them. So I became inventive: I bought albums that looked like normal albums, and didn't contain the word 'Thunderdome' on the cover. Funnily enough, my first compilation was purchased by my mum, and was Mysteryland 1994. And guess what the first disc was called? 'Thunderdome'. But she didn't know. A sneaky reminder of how I had to deal with parents who hated it. Anyway, I am ranting on and on. I nearly forgot what I was talking about. Omar Santana and his mixtape. I did appreciate his Hardcore stuff during the heydays of Hardcore. The 'Heroes Of Hardcore' compilation had an American version of it, and I did play that over and over. Delirium, Rob Gee, and Omar Santana. As far as I can remember that being the only Omar Santana mix CD I have ever owned. Don't know why I've never bought anything else. So many questions, no answers given. The mixtape! Yeah, let's focus on that. magpie303 has found this obscure tape, and uploaded it two years ago. I already reviewed the first tape, now it's time for the second tape. And I'm guessing you want to see the tracklist, right? 01. The Stunned Guys - Beats Time 02. Tellurian - Hardcore Junkies 03. Wasting Program - Bring That Shit Back 04. Chosen Few - Chosen Paradise 05. Cybernators - Ridiculous Lyrics (Ruffex Remix By Ectomorph & Myrmidon) 06. Insane - Kiss My Ass 07. Paradox - My DJ....Cutz 08. French Connection - French Connection 09. DJ Weirdo & DJ Sim - Kick This Muthaf#@ka (DJ Jordens Remix) 10. Public Domain - So Get Up (Dr. Phil's Mix) 11. Jack Lucifer - 95 Knights (Don't Fear The Darkness) 12. Queens Boro Crew - The Paradox 13. Jack Lucifer - After All Wars 14. Liza N' Eliaz & Dano - Pavlow 15. The New York Terrorist - Hellbound Terror 16. Manga Corps - The Hunter 17. Rave Creator - A New Mind 18. The New York Terrorist - The Beast 19. Oh Bonic - Respeck Da Tec 20. Omar Santana - Speed Freak 21. Predator - I'm Trippin' Wow. So many forgotten anthems. Obviously the well known anthems are in here too, but there's shitloads of unknown or forgotten anthems in here too. Maybe I have heard them before, but never clocked them? But also during its heyday, I wasn't too much into the extreme stuff, the hard hard stuff. I did like it, but never paid too much attention to it. Yes, I was more into the happy side of Hardcore. Please forgive me. But anyway, the mix. Or in this case, the mixtape. Released nearly 23 years ago. Still sounds fresh. And it's lit. But also in a weird way, not layered as you would expect it? Let me explain myself: a 'normal' mix would start off slow, and go mental towards the end. The BPMs would go up and up, but never start 'slow', go hard halfway through, go slow again after, go hard, go soft, etc. You catch my drift. Just check it around the 40 minute mark. You will understand what I'm saying. I did like this mixtape a lot. Unconventional. Different. In a strange way, it was exactly what I was expecting from mister Santana. But not a lot of his own productions in here, that's a bummer. Would have appreciated if more of his own stuff was in here. Or maybe he used an alias of his own that I'm not familiar with. Go and enjoy this obscure mixtape. Let the music sink in. Get this down you, especially now. Lockdown has given us the opportunity to stay indoors, and have the speakers do the talking. Maybe the layout of the tracks might not appeal to you, but certainly the music will. The best track, for me, has to be 'So Get Up'. Public Domain were so awesome. Check this out. And check out magpie's channel too. It's fucking awesome. - arps - The Locked Down Mix (2020)
arps is bored. Or he's in prison. Whatever he is, he's back with a new mix. Last week he tagged me on Facebook, and asked if I was bored. Well, truth be told, I was doing some DIY, so yeah, I was busy. Still liked the mix on Soundcloud. I always do that, if I need to check a mix or set later. So that's what I've done. I know I am a week late, but still I am checking it out. And to confirm: he's not in prison. He's actually made it look quite professional. But he does look bored though. Does that mean he's bored due to the music being absolute kak? Nope. He's not bored because of the music. The music, as always, is spot on. This time the focus of this mix is obviously Kniteforce records, and also 4 The Core Recordings. But the main focus is Breakbeat Hardcore. And isn't that a style we all love? Quite simply, this mix is dope. All new anthems. I've not heard any of these before, so it's a treat. Let's go into this weekend with a smile on our faces, and with Breakbeat coming out of our speakers, at a maximum level, when it comes to the volume. Let's get fucked! 01. Please don't be as miserable as arps. God, he looks unhappy. But thankfully his mix is good. But let's be serious for a minute. He's made yet another epic mix. Full with Breakbeat Hardcore anthems. If you like the sound of that, make sure you press play. As usual, you do get a lot of piano driven records. That's basically a necessity when it comes to Breakbeat: if you don't have a piano section, is it even Breakbeat? Bro, do you even lift? It needs a piano section. It was 66 minutes of pure Breakbeat heaven. I really enjoyed the mix. At one stage though the mix goes a bit wonky. Could be due to recording issues, or maybe a mistake by arps. It's because of the lockdown, blame it on that. I've got only love to give for this mix. Nothing bad, only Breakbeat anthems. And how can I be negative about that? A solid combination. And yet another wicked mix by arps. Check out his mix right now! - Reclaim Your City 379 | Marc Acardipane (2020)
If you are a die hard Gabber/Hardcore fanatic, I do not need to explain who the Godfather of Hardcore is. Some might say it's Paul Elstak, or DJ Rob, but to me (and many others) it's Marc Acardipane. This German DJ and producer has been giving us music since 1989, and not only that; he has also used a shit ton of aliases. Some I knew, but the majority I didn't. Seriously didn't. I just went on Discogs to see if I was right about something, and I saw that his alias-list is seriously impressive. Didn't expect that. That I didn't know. But what I do know and underline, is his impact in the Hardcore scene. He has major success throughout the years, mainly with his Marshall Masters alias. You know you have made it as an artist if Scooter rips your song, and ruins it forever. That's when you know you have reached ultimate stardom. Ultimate fame. All jokes aside, Marc has been at the forefront of Hardcore for many years, and to find this mix, containing only his tracks, is just subliminal. Exquisite. And it also contains a few, never released tracks. So a bonus for us all! But he's not only been active in the Hardcore scene, also the Techno scene. So, what can you expect in this mix? Literally everything. Madness galore! It's made by the freaking Godfather of Hardcore. So the mix will be awesome. The only time I have ever witnessed him, was back in 1998. Mysteryland Outdoor, mainstage. And I loved the set. I was 14 years old, all alone, among 25.000 ravers. And I had the time of my life. And Marc played the tunes for this teenager. He made my youth slightly better! So this mix is going to be great. If you are a Marc Acardipane fan, you'll love the tracklist! It's lit! 01. Marc Acardipane feat Rave Creator - Astral Demons 94 (Cold Planet Remix) 26. Marc Acardipane feat Tony G - Loveless (Underground Mix) Now this is a proper tracklist and a half. Has given me finger RSI. Bloody Nora, that wasn't easy. Should have copy-pasted it. Instead I decided to type the whole bloody thing. Stupid ass. Anyway, at least I know all the tracks in here. Well, knowing them is a big word. I know of their existence. There's a lot of exclusive records in here. Some so obscure, never even been released before. Some remastered, or remixed. But all focussed on the mighty Marc. The legend that is Marc Acardipane. You cannot go wrong. This man is a living legend, and I had the honour to witness him playing live. That has been a memory on its own. And even 22 years later I do appreciate his music, and his input into the scene I love. Don't get me wrong, his Techno stuff is good too! But I do prefer his Hardcore side. Especially the melodic stuff. Who doesn't love his most famous anthem of all time: I Like It Loud? Which, funnily enough, isn't even in this mix. But to me, the music released around 1998-1999, holds the most memories. This is when I got active in the Hardcore scene: the year 1998 was the year I lost my Hardcore virginity. So melodic stuff, yes! The best anthem? So many. But 'Intruder' and 'Return To Zero' are both my favourites. I just love these. Even in 2020 I am still feeling like that teenager, dancing in his living room, while listening to Hardcore on cassettes and CDs, using portable players (which never skipped, but ALWAYS did anyway). The good ol' days. Marc is and will be the Godfather of Hardcore. The legend. And this mix is proof of his ongoing legacy. Hardcore will never die, nor will Marc's impact on our world. Without him, Hardcore wouldn't even be this big. We owe his so much. We owe him our gratitude for making these anthems. Marc, please never stop. You've made my past, present, and future! - Hardcore HakMuziek Vol 8 - Masters Of Hardcore Digital Tribute 2012 Pt 2 (2020)
It is Sunday. Hardcore day. Or Hakdag, as the Dutch would describe it. But to those die-hard Hardcore fanatics, every day is Hakdag. And after a hard days work yesterday, I needed something hard and rough. Therefore I went to my good ol' friend Soundcloud, and found this mix, made by DJ Psyvex. A mix focussed on the Masters Of Hardcore anthems from around 2012. Thinking about this: those anthems are roughly 8 years old! OMG, time has flown by. Anyway, before we start ranting about the age of the records used by Psyvex, let's focus on the mix and the music he has selected. As mentioned before, these are the anthems released around 2012. All focussed on the Masters Of Hardcore sound. And as you would expect, the mix is quite hard and rough. Fuck Sunday mornings, let's all wake the fuck up. If you are digging this mix, he's got two mixes of these online (including the one we are talking about), and a third mix is coming. So keep your eyes peeled. Did someone say tracklist? Here it is! 01. Wasted Mind - Crypt 02. Korsakoff & Re-Style - Unconquered 03. Korsakoff - Amber 04. Korsakoff - Blind 05. Javi Boss - Destruction 06. Angerfist - The Desecrated 07. Javi Boss - Cursed Days 08. Korsakoff - Center Of Mass 09. Dyewitness - Masterplan (State Of Emergency & Outblast feat MC Syco Remix) 10. Outblast - Superhero Complex 11. Catscan - Wake Of Liberty 12. Miss K8 - Liquid8 13. Outblast & Re-Style - Omnipotence 14. Re-Style feat Mercenary - We Go Back 15. Masters Elite - Tied By Sound (Official Syndicate Anthem) 16. Javi Boss feat MC Tha Watcher - Destiny Today 17. Re-Style - Wasteland (Official Bassleader 2012 Anthem) 18. Javi Boss - Faka 19. Drokz & Day-Mar - Unite 20. Outblast & Drokz - Be Yourself 21. Angerfist - Fuck The Promqueen (Tripped Remix) 22. Angerfist - Eraser This mix will certainly wake you up. I am wide awake now after another dreadful night of no sleep. I'm guessing that the second I stop listening to this mix I will dose off completely. So maybe I should have this on repeat the whole day? As with a proper Hardcore mix, you start off slow, and build up the pace. The harder the better, but never start fast. Always let the music build up, and that's what Psyvex has done. Terror at the end. That's the way to do it. I did like this mix. Even though it's not oldskool, it still takes me back a few years. How the music sounded different compared to the present day Hardcore. Slightly different. And back in 2012 they made probably one of the dopest anthems ever. 'Tied By Sound'. Such a catchy anthem. One of my favourite anthems of all time. Sadly they also made crap music. I don't think that's really bound by any year. But Dyewitness' 'Masterplan' should have never been remixed. The original is always 100 times better. This version is just horrible, absolute kak. Psyvex has made a wicked mix. Go check this one out, also the first instalment, and keep your eyes open for the third instalment. Coming soon. - Pete Bromley Pres: 1986-1990 History Of House Classics Move FM Mix (2013)
Another week of paradise. Oh, sorry, I meant lockdown. Some are still working from home, and some are not. We are all in this together, and as dreadful as it might be, there's still a positive side to this all. I am not sure what they are, but one of the things that we've gained, is more time to access the internet. And whilst doing that, we keep finding hidden gems. The other day I was listening to a good oldskool mix, and it used a familiar beat. It didn't have a tracklist, but I knew the song. A quick search lead up to one of the dopest anthems of all time, and also to the mix I'm reviewing as we speak. It's a huge statement: one of the dopest anthems of all time. But when I do say such a thing, I do mean it. But is the accompanied mix any good? Is it worth your time? Well, if you like House music, and especially the early stuff, you won't be disappointed. The DJ behind this mix is Pete Bromley, sadly never came across his name before. But this mix was made for this specific radio show. It does contain the big House anthems from the early days. This will bring a smile on your face, and if you were old enough to have witnessed this, it might even bring you back into the warehouses and underground venues this all took place in. Tracklist anyone? 01. Nitro Deluxe - Let's Get Brutal 02. Fallout - The Morning After 03. Black Riot - A Day In The Life 04. Orange Lemon - Dreams Of Santa Anna 05. Orbital - Chime 06. Ten City - That's The Way Love Is 07. Farley 'Jackmaster' Funk & Jessie Saunders - Love Can't Turn Around 08. Lil Louis - French Kiss 09. Steve 'Silk' Hurley - Jack Your Body 10. Adonis - No Way Back 11. Ralphi Rosario feat Xavier Gold - You Used To Hold Me 12. Pierre's Fantasy Club - Dream Girl 13. Marshall Jefferson - The House Music Anthem 14. Sterling Void & Paris Brightledge - It's All Right 15. Kenny 'Jammin' Jason with 'Fast' Eddie Smith - Can U Dance 16. Sweet D - Thank Ya 17. Joe Smooth Inc. feat Anthony Thomas - The Promised Land 18. Dionne - Come Get My Lovin' 19. The Todd Terry Project - Back To The Beat 20. Jungle Brothers - I'll House You 21. Maurice - This Is Acid (A New Dance Craze) 22. Fast Eddie - Acid Thunder 23. Fast Eddie - Yo Yo Get Funky 24. Rhythim Is Rhythim - Strings Of Life Pete has selected the big records. The big guns. I don't think there's one track in here that anyone of us doesn't know. As underground as it was at the beginning, as worldly known as all these records are nowadays. I cannot imagine a world without House music. This is the sound I grew up with. And boy, these are all solid anthems. It doesn't matter when or where you play these songs, you will always get people smiling when they hear those familiar chords. Even though some are going towards the forgotten anthem section in our minds, they will still be recognised. And adored. Pete's selection is great. The mix would have been a tad better if there were more obscure anthems in here. But nevertheless a big selection. But which anthem is credited by yours truly as 'one of the dopest of all time'? Simple answer: Sweet D's 'Thank Ya'. I cannot explain why, but when you do hear this anthem, personally I loose myself completely. I am such a fan of this minimalistic approach. And it's also catchy as fuck. This should be on more people's 'top 10' lists. I love that tune. A good mix, a few mixing errors, but he did state that he was using vinyl only. Hence why errors did occur here and there. Still doesn't make the mix any less enjoyable though. Download this, and go back to mid 80s - early 90s. Hop on the oldskool train. Hope the train never stops! - Fracus & Darwin @ Hardcore Heaven, Los Angeles, 21.2.20
The boys at Hardcore Underground have been busy. Not only are they repping their own music, but they've also taken over this legendary UK Hardcore CD compilation, and they also throw events all over the world. A month and a half ago, they were in Los Angeles, and played alongside names such as Hixxy, Macks Wolf, Jakka-B, Sc@r, Saiyan, Flapjack, Ryan Kore, Kitsch, Delusion, and D3tour. The event was sold out, but that's obvious: such a superstar line-up. And look at the picture of Fracus and Darwin: superstar DJs wear sunglasses at night. That's dope. All jokes aside. Fracus and Darwin are both legends. And they know it. I've seen them perform several times, but truth be told, it's been too long since I last saw them. I've been listening to a lot of their music, but just simply didn't find the time to see them. Lucky bastards in Los Angeles. They had the opportunity to see the living legends play the finest tunes. And their set is filled with both their own classics, remixed classics, and a few brand new anthems. Thankfully HU added a tracklist. Would miss out one of the best anthem of the year. You'll find out which one I'm talking about, but if we still had the Hardcore Awards, this would be a contender for the anthem of the year 2020. 01. Eclipse - 24/7 (Fracus & Darwin's 2019 VIP) 02. Maxi Malone - The Only One I Need 03. Fracus & Darwin - Together We Grow 04. Scott Brown & Cat Knight - All About You (Fracus & Darwin Remix) 05. Skinny & Darwin - Waxin' Waxin' 06. Fracus & Darwin vs Gavin G - Falling Out Of Love 2018 07. Michael Mansion - Let Me In (Fracus & Darwin's Blu The Roof Mix) 08. Fracus & Darwin - Heart On Fire (Remix) 09. Fracus & Darwin - 8Bit Is Everything (Megadrive Mix) 10. RedMoon & Meron Ryan - Never Let Go (Fracus & Darwi Remix) 11. Fracus & Darwin - Now It's Over 12. Brisk & VAGABOND - The Only Ones (Fracus VIP) 13. DJ Red Alert & Mike Slammer - In Effect (Fracus & Darwin Remix) 14. Fracus & Darwin vs Macks Wolf - Hold On To The Fire 15. Fracus & Darwin - Share This Love (Remix) 16. Fracus & Darwin feat Jess Palmer - Love Comes Back (Remix) I have to say that their set is truly astonishing! Really exciting stuff in here. If you don't know who they are, this is a good introduction. But how come you don't know who they are? Everyone, and I mean everyone knows Fracus and Darwin! Darwin invented this theory, right, and it's about evolution. Fracus, well, he's a producer. And together they make this awesome UK Hardcore. Blending worlds together. I am obviously talking out of my ass here. But seriously, if you are reading and think 'who are these two dodgy looking blokes in the above image', something is seriously wrong with you. They are true Hardcore legends, and have paved the way for new talent, and have done wonders, by sharing UK Hardcore all over the world. Mighty producers, and also excellent DJs too. And nice blokes too. Last time I met them both, we had a wonderful time. Could be because I was wasted, but hey, at least I had fun. This mix is jam packed with classic anthems. This is truly a F&D mix. They've selected the finest records in their already immense back catalogue, and treated the fans in Los Angeles to a very fucking fine set. Judging their skills is easy: they are top notch DJs. Producing skills? The best of the best. And in February they played probably the dopest record of 2020: 'Hold On To The Fire'. What a beast of a record! I heard this one for the first time just now, and I've already increased the plays on this set by 27697. I've kept playing this record over and over. Who's the vocalist by the way? She's got the voice of an angel. It was a highly enjoyable set. And I must imagine that those who were there, had a wonderful time. I didn't enjoy the MC. Thankfully he's silent throughout most of their set. But the MC aside, this is yet another epic set by the boys. I am a proud supporter of these guys. Legends. Living legends. Ps. you might want to read on Darwin's theory. It is quite interesting. - Rob IYF - Lock-In Restival 2020
I've been on social media a lot lately due to COVID-19, and I can say that I've seen at least 95% of all the videos on Youtube, liked thousands of posts, seen the most ridiculous videos and Instagram posts, but somehow I've completely missed this event called 'Lock-In Restival'. How's that even freaking possible? How come I've not seen one post of it? Stupid Facebook algorithm. OK, I've missed this event completely, but thankfully Rob IYF has uploaded his hour long set recorded especially for this event. Social distancing is important, so to still get us all raving, this virtual rave was created. And Rob's set is filled with Hardstyle anthems. I wasn't expecting that at all, if I'm honest. I was expecting a full on UK Hardcore mix. Have we lost Rob? Is he fully focussed on Hardstyle now? I know I can be a dopey twat, but The Watchmen: isn't that Al Storm and Rob IYF, right? Anyway, here's the tracklist. I normally start ranting on about literally nothing, so let's just dive straight into the tracklist, before madness takes over: 01. The Watchmen - HGHR LV 02. The Watchmen vs Nobody - King Of My Castle 03. N-Trance - Set You Free (The Watchmen vs Slay Remix) 04. Sound Rush - Rhythm Of The Night 05. Sash! - Ecuador (Macks Wolf Edit) 06. SOTA - We Got That 07. Black & White feat Angie Brown - Get Your Hands Up (The Watchmen 170 Remix) 08. Rob IYF - Heaven 09. Evolve feat Lisa Abbott - Forever Together (Rob IYF Remix) 10. Atmosfearz & Demi Kanon - Move Ma Body (Rob IYF Bootleg) 11. Rob IYF & Monster - Turn Back The Time 12. Bang! vs Rob IYF & Al Storm - Love, Life & Happiness 13. Rob IYF - Fast Car 14. The Watchmen vs Klubfiller - Bang Yer Head Off 15. Dither - Detonate 16. Fitzy-K - Final Call (The Watchmen 180 Remix) 17. S3RL - MTC (The Watchmen Remix) 18. The Watchmen - Boom Boom Boom 19. Dither - The Prophecy 20. Al Storm - Surrender (The Watchmen Remix) Well, I said earlier that we might have lost Rob IYF to Hardstyle, but that might not be entirely true. This mix still contains UK Hardcore inspired anthems and sounds. But with a 2020 twist. Why not have a bit of both worlds? I do like it though. A lot of Watchmen stuff in here. And the one thing I've noticed is that they do like to re-make the classics, like 'Heaven, 'Ecuador', 'Set You Free', 'Boom Boom Boom', and more. It's a common thing now, isn't it? Get the classics back in our minds again. Keep us raving with the old records being remade for 2020. Sounds good. Even though nearly 90% of the records were made by The Watchmen, the one records I really love, is Sound Rush's 'Rhythm Of The Night'. That's just an epic record. Really one that keeps me going. Good choice in any mix, to have this record. The crowds will loose themselves fully. Following this record I've selected 'Final Call' as second best record. I do find the vocals absolutely amazing! I've really enjoyed this set. A bit of everything in here. Hardstyle? Check. UK Hardcore? Check. Gabber? Check. Maybe a bit unusual, to have literally everything crammed and not in order (slower tracks first, ending with harder anthems), but it's lockdown. Why not fuck things up? I've tried to download this mix, but the website wasn't working sadly. You might try it later, see if it works. - Merciless Monsters Special Edition #09 - Totally Tommyknocker (2020)
I am not familiar with Mercenary, but who I do know, is Tommyknocker. This legend has been pushing Hardcore from Italy for so long now: I cannot imagine Hardcore being around without Tommyknocker in it. This man has meant so much to the Hardcore scene, it's really unreal how many slammers this man has created over the years. Mercenary decided to create this monster mix, containing ONLY Tommyknocker anthems. And there are 60 crammed in this 2 hour and a half long mix. 60 of Tommyknocker's finest records. One of the finest producers out of Italy. I think the only time I witnessed Tommyknocker was at Raving Nightmare - Brutal Truth, back in 2008. Wow, can't believe it's nearly 12 years ago. Fucking hell. But I did witness him there (as far as I can remember). Most of my partying memories are based on alcohol infused nights, so it might be true or not. It's all a tad cloudy. But I certainly went to Raving Nightmare. Anyway, let's talk about this mix. I had another of Mercenary's mixes saved, but never came around to review it. He has made 3 in total, focussed on artists: DJ D, Nosferatu, and now Tommyknocker. In the tracklist you are about to see, there are 60 really awesome records. Some I have even forgotten about. And some that take me back to Raving Nightmare years. The years so precious to me. These are the years when Hardcore was awesome. Italian Hardcore has always been slightly better than Dutch Hardcore, if truth be told. They just had something unique. A different approach on Hardcore. A pleasant sound, vibe. The tracklist, if you were interested. And you should be. So here it is: 01. Tommyknocker - The Aftermath 02. Tommyknocker vs DJ Mad Dog - Clockwork 03. Tommyknocker & MC Lob - The Realm 04. T-Factor - How Many More Out There? 05. Tommyknocker & MC Lob - Millenium 06. The Stunned Guys & DJ Paul - Thrillseeka (T-Factor remix) 07. Tommyknocker - The Nutrition 08. Tommyknocker & MC Lob - Full of Shit 09. Headbanger - Violator (Tommyknocker Remix) 10. Tommyknocker - Showtime 11. Holy Crown Forces - Feel The Force 12. Unexist feat Tommyknocker & Lenny Dee - Destructive Behaviour 60. 3 Steps Ahead - Drop It (Tommyknocker & The Stunned Guys Remix) Welcome to the aftermath. Fuck me sideways. Normally I would wait with announcing the best record of a mix, but seeing as it's literally the FIRST record used by Mercenary, how can I not mention it? This, to me, is the pinnacle of Hardcore made around the Millennium era. This truly captures the strength and power behind Hardcore music. Such an underrated classic anthem. Not. a lot of bullshitting happening, just straight towards the music. But, not only was the first record a truly remarkable one, but the 59 records following it were. Such a good selection of tracks. I might have a 'crush' on Tommyknocker's music. I truly find it astonishing that this man has the power to make anthem after anthem, over and over again. You can say whatever you say about all of his music, but we have to agree that he's a musical genius. He certainly is. To me, he's the world's finest and best Hardcore producer. I can only give Mercenary credit for fabricating such an awesome mix. It's wicked, it's good, it's excellent. No word of a lie. This has been 2 and a half hours of pure nostalgia. Pure porn, for Hardcore lovers. And to finish the mix with the tribute record to 3 Steps Ahead, good choice. Bring back the Millennium sound. We need more of this. Tommyknocker is such a legend! - Subculture Spring 2020 Mix
The world is all in lockdown, and we are all hugging the internet like it's our long lost friend. But truth be told, it does bring us in a way together. Lots of music is being presented on it nowadays, and I cannot stop listening to it. Every day I'm browsing on Soundcloud, to see what has been uploaded. And today I have found yet another mix I wanted to share with you guys and girls. A mix made by the legendary John O'Callaghan. He doesn't need an introduction. A Trance legend. Someone who knows how to please the fans. And with this Subculture Spring 2020 Mix he's certainly pleasing everyone who has had the chance to listen to it yet. Including yours truly. Put both names together (John O'Callaghan and Subculture) and what do you get? An hour of awesome music. Within only 17 days this mix has already reached 12.5k+ plays. Will you Adam & Eve it? Well, as I said in the first section, people are embracing the internet now more than ever, and their craving for partying has only increased. Once this all is over and we can 'go outside' again, those parties will be the best ones in your lifetime. You don't know you miss them until you are not allowed to attend. And 2020 will be known as the year we all had to stay indoors. But hopefully not for long though. Time for us to start partying again. To keep us entertained until lockdown has been revoked, we can listen to this brilliant Spring mix. It still contains a few ID-less records, so if you do know them, please leave a comment underneath, and we shall add them manually. 01. Maria Healy - ID 02. Will Rees - Into The Light 03. Mercurial Virus - Turning Point (Billy Gillies Remix) 04. Flynn & Denton feat Audrey Gallagher - Say My Name (Paul Denton Remix) 05. ID - ID 06. Daniel Skyver - Stay Close 07. Nikolauss - ID 08. Alan Morris - Fire In Your Eyes 09. Tom Colontonio feat CiBon Rielle - The Sun (Nikolauss #140 Remix) 10. Josh Ferrin - Mauna Kea 11. Mercurial Virus - ID 12. Cold Blue - ID Again, if you know the missing or ID-less anthems, please do comment underneath this mix, and I will add them. Or you could also go to 1001 tracklists, and amend the already existing tracklist? Whatever you do, make it count. Regarding this mix: it's a beauty. Classic anthems galore. And even though these are NOT that old, I know for sure they will eventually become Trance classics. This hour long mix has really pleased me during the first day of our long Easter weekend. I hope everyone will stay safe, and keep a 1.5/2 meter distance between each other, if you have to go outside. If you don't, just stay indoors, and press play. John O'Callaghan has got you covered. No mistakes have been found, nor any 'crap' anthems. John's mix contains 12 really and truly excellent anthems. It was difficult to pick one favourite one, so I chose two. I couldn't just decide on one, so my two favourite ones are 'Fire In Your Eyes' and 'Mauna Kea'. Trance heaven, and what a delight it was to hear them. A fantastic mix, but did you expect anything less from this man? A wonderful mix, hope you are enjoying it as much as I have! - NOISSIER - Born In A Lockdown Mix (2020)
So we start today with a brand new mix by a new artist called NOISSIER. Someone who has created this persona during lockdown, hence the title of this mix. And it's an hour long mix, filled with Techno anthems. Anthems, to keep COVID-19 away from all of us. Truth be told, there isn't much I can share about this artist. Really only came onto the scene a couple of weeks ago. Only one mix on Soundcloud. And his pictures do not show anything whatsoever. Not even if it's a he, she, or any other gender. A mystery. And so is this mix. Not familiar with the DJ who mixed this together, nor with the records selected. So how did I notice this mix on Soundcloud? Not one parameter set up on my account would link it to this newly formed artist? Well, it's because of the first record he/she has selected. I have fallen in love with the intro track, which I heard in another mix. I wanted to find out if the track was somewhere on Soundcloud, and voila. It landed me on NOISSIER's page. I wasn't looking for this mix, but it landed on my path. So this mix is filled with Techno. That's all there is to know for now. Let's start with the tracklist! 01. Matthew Dekay - The Four Agreements (Martin Roth Beats Edit) 02. Fur Coat - Adagia (Upercent Remix) 03. Waltervelt - Magman (Original Mix) 04. Noissier - Signals 05. Noissier - ID 06. Marc Houle - No One Knows 07. Nox Vahn - Brainwasher (Extended Mix) 08. Jonas Friedlich - Jazzersizzzze (Shed Remix) 09. Avision - Innocence (Original Mix) 10. oneoneone - Jolt (Original Mix) 11. Sigward - Balmung Beam 12. Dance Spirit - Gateways (Colebrooke Remix) 13. Madben - Landscape Well, if you weren't aware of this new artist, don't worry: two of NOISSIER's records are in this mix, so you can get a taster of the capabilities of this DJ/producer. And if I'm honest: I did like the mix a lot. It's also a free download, so that's another added bonus. A wicked mix, and a free download. That's a good start. But it's not all about us being greedy, but more about the music. Is the music any good, or is it absolute shite? Well, NOISSIER has selected really awesome Techno anthems, and they all rock. And I'm not even kidding. I think the record that inspired me the most, has to be the intro. Never have I come across anything like this before. So extremely mellow, yet with a hidden message. If you actually listen to the spoken word, it might freak you out. Are we actually dreaming since the day we are born? So many questions raised, none the wiser. This record is a good opening record, for an outstanding mix. Nothing to complain about. A truly magnificent mix. I've really enjoyed it. You should do the same. I'm guessing we'll be hearing more from NOISSIER in the near future. Let's hope so. - The Sound Of: 100% Silk, Mixed By Cherushii (2015)
House is life. House is something I grew up with. From the late 80s until now, House has always been one of my favourite styles. It has given a generation music to dance to. The same that applies to Rock and Roll, Jazz, Ska, and more. House is as part of our musical legacy as any other well know and much appreciated styles. But seeing as House has been around for nearly as long as I'm alive, there are plenty of artists and labels out there. Too many to follow, and sometimes you do miss the odd label here and there. This applies to 100% Silk. I've never heard or seen this label before, but I found this mix, uploaded by DJ Mag, on Soundcloud, and got hooked immediately. I saw this mix, heard it, and was in love from the first second. Still not sure who or what's behind this label, I just delved straight into this specially made mix. It is a full-on House music mix, and there's one record in this mix so good, it won't let you go. You'll find out later in this review, but for now, let's focus on the actual mix. It's nice and mellow. Just what you need to hear, after a hard day of work. Wherever that might be: on the 'front' line, or at home. Or just chilling, because of you being furloughed, chilling at home (as much as you can). I've done a lot today, and want to relax, especially with the long weekend ahead. So I think I might have found the perfect mix to accompany us all during this 4 day weekend! 01. Auscultation - Vanda 02. Jupiter Jax - Simple Pleasures 03. Cherushii - Nightsteps 04. James Booth - Flora 05. Cosby - Warehouse Fantasy Club 06. Alex Burkat - Tarot 07. Luca Lozano - The Fox 08. Lunate - Pawn Shop Romance 09. Pharaohs - Replicant Moods 10. Paradise 100 - Incroyablement Prop 11. Magic Touch - Passion 12. Octo Octa - I'm Trying 13. Shams - Piano Cloud 14. Fort Romeau - Jack Rollin 15. Maria Minerva - Black Magick (Lady Blacktronika's Garage Trip Mix) 16. Bobby Browser - Clubspinning 17. Roche - Stillhope A full on unknown tracklist to me. Never seen any of these artists before, or ever heard any of these records before. But who really cares? You sometimes need to delve into the abyss, and just witness whatever is thrown at you. That's what I've done today, and it has made me a happier person. Everything music relates makes me happy in general, but during COVID-19, Soundcloud and Mixcloud are the two places that make me the happiest. Can we just all agree that Octa Octa's 'I'm Trying' is such a gorgeous anthem? I've kept playing this record over and over again. This has got the most House vibes, crammed into one record. This repetitive record takes me back to the 90s. This record is full of mid 90s House vibes. Genuinely awesome record. And is this record using Amelia's vocals? Or Amelie? However you spell you, you know who I'm talking. All in all, a splendid mix. I've loved it from the first to the last second. And it has increased my love for House. This mix has also given me the opportunity to explore new labels, and surely 100% Silk will be on my search list this weekend. If they have made/released similar records after 2015, I am going to be a happier man. I've really enjoyed this 5 year 'old' mix. Maybe the DJ Mag should go through their 'hidden' and forgotten collection of mixes, and reupload more and more of these? Especially now the whole world is in lockdown? Fantastic mix. Credit to the DJ who made this, and the label for releasing these awesome records! - SPRING HARDCORE 2020 MIX
Lil Texas is back! A brand new mix was uploaded onto Soundcloud 2 days ago, and already it received thousands of plays, and people are going mad, literally mad. Am I one of those people? Well, the name of this blog contains 'crazy', so yes. I like music to be as versatile as it can be, and on certain days I would like my music to be 'normal', and on certain days it want it to be fucked up as much as possible. It's Sunday, time to relax, and to put your silly hat on. If you want, you can put a hat on, similar to the one that Lil Texas wears, and go ape. Literally go ape. Why not? As you can expect from previous reviews/mixes, this mix is filled with the hardest records out there, and crammed into an hour-ish long mix. Crammed together, and mixed at this unbelievable pace. You get so many records in this mix, you won't even know you are already 20 records in. Time becomes irrelevant. But isn't that Lil Texas' game? To fuck everyone up? Whatever his goal is, he's achieving at least something. Within a short period of time he's risen to the top of the scene, and he has established his name as one that you do not fuck with. Credits to Lil Texas for doing that. So what is you get in this 51 minute long mix? 48 hard as nails records. Ranging from Rawstyle to Hardcore. Everything is in here for you to lose yourself. The lockdown has got us all inside our houses, like caged animals. So let's behave like animals. Go mad, right now! But before you do, make sure you like TCD on Facebook. After that, I couldn't care less if you start throwing faeces around. 01. Sickmode - Hey x 02. Thyron & Luminite feat MC Focus - Rise Of The Underground (Official 10 Years Of Gearbox Anthem) 03. Riot Shift - Laser Beams 04. Luminite & Sins of Insanity - Hit 'Em 05. D-Sturb & Warface - Imma OG 06. Krowdexx - Pu$h 07. Lil Texas - ID 08. Yellow Claw, Radical Redemption & Lil Texas - Beat Your Mother 09. Sickmode - L4MBO 10. Unkind - I Go Hard 11. Malice - Stronger 12. Luminite - Power & Truth 13. Hypix - Psycho 14. Thorax - The Reckoning 15. Psycho Boys Club - Full Speed 16. Stereotype - Freak Show 17. The Satan - You Are Sick 18. Stereotype - Layers Of The Soul 19. Andy The Core & Nightshift - That's Hardcore 20. Odium & Gridkiller - The Curse 21. Anime - Rock This Place 22. Detest - 1 2 3 (Original Mix) 23. Tha Playah & Angerfist - The Heartless 24. Re-Style feat Cammie Robinson - One Last Dance 25. Promo - Serious Danger (Dither Remix) 26. Furyan - Bass Journey 27. Killshot & N-Vitral feat Disarray - Raise Hell 28. Anime - A-Bomb 2019 29. Dither - Hunt You Down 30. Never Surrender - We Shall Never Surrender 31. Lil Texas - ID 32. Water Spirit - Aries 33. Lil Texas - ID 34. Vandal!sm - Gangbang (Trespassed Remix) 35. Soulblast - The Process 36. Barber & Frenchfaces - The Cook 2.0 37. Lil Texas - ID 38. Crime Scene feat MC Instinct - Underground Killer 39. The Dark Horror - What's My Name 40. Andy The Core & Lil Texas - Saturday 41. D-Fence & Angernoizer - UFO Piloot 42. Angernoizer - Demon Chopper 43. Lil Texas - ID 44. Cryogenic - Bass Slut 45. DRS & Lil Texas feat Rob Gee - Moshpit 46. Soulblast - Serial Killer 47. Lil Texas - ID 48. Drastic & Angerkill - Blasters The mix starts off slow, and towards the end the BPMs go through the roof. The tension builds towards this climactic ending. It feels like having sexual intercourse. The last record is a finalisation of 4 minutes of raw sex, and orgasms happening. You have done your deed, now light a cigarette and chill the fuck out (kids, do not smoke, smoking is bad for you, remember). This mix has you moving from the first to the last second, and it goes through several styles: from Rawstyle to Hardcore, from Uptempo to Terror. You get everything. But everything hard, nothing soft is being played here. Lil Texas does not take any prisoners, and has you locked from second 1 to the last. Lil Texas' mission is to get you moving, and he has succeeded doing just that. But, is it fucked up, this mix? Yes, it certainly is. The quick mixing, the records, everything is messed up a lot. This is not for the faint hearted, only for the true harder styles fanatic. There are so many bad ass anthems in here, but the one that gets me going the most has got to be Malice's 'Stronger'. Wicked vocals, awesome drop. Obviously an insane mix. You wouldn't expect anything else from this DJ. Lil Texas has done it again. He's messing with us. This mix is as fucked up as you could imagine. And it's also a free download. Sadly I do not have Spotify (like the only one on this Earth), but if you do, it's all for free! - Millennium Mayhem - Mixed By Radiate (2020)
I am on a roll today! Not just because I'm feeling okay, and the sun is shining, but also the fact that I'm reviewing the fuck out of everything I can find on Soundcloud. And now it's time for a Millennium Hardcore mix by a DJ, who I've not reviewed in years: DJ Radiate! I did listen to a few mixes by him over the years, but they never came with a tracklist, so I couldn't review them. This one HAS got a tracklist, so happy days, eh? And it contains Millennium Hardcore, my favourite kind of Hardcore. Who needs anything else right now? Fuck COVID-19, mankind will survive (only if we get good music on a continuous stream, otherwise we will loose the plot). I've already checked this mix several times, and it has made me a happy person. Radiate has played the big anthems. And I do mean the big anthems. Those that will get you going on the dancefloor. Which is obviously now not an option, but you can turn your living room into a rave domain? They are all well known anthems, and carefully mixed by Radiate. And it's also a free download, so why not enjoy your Saturday? Ps. I've just been shopping in between, and it was an absolute nightmare. I had to calm down when I walked into the living room, so I turned this bad boy back on again. Speakers are shaking, the floor is trembling: life is great. Here's the tracklist. Woop Woop! 01. Outblast - Communication 02. E-Man - Bass Machine 03. 50% Of The Dreamteam feat The Prophet & DJ Buzz Fuzz - Open Sesame! 04. System 3 - Like A Shot 05. Korsakoff - Separated World 06. Art Of Fighters - Under Construction 07. Promo - Emotions Over Anger 08. The Masochist - Anticipation 09. Rave Creator & The Mover - Atmos-Fear 10. DJ Sim - Simbiosis 11. Catscan - WO3 12. Pilldriver - Apocalypse Never 13. EBE Company - Sub Seven (Catscan Remix) 14. Meagashira - Prozac Attack 15. Promo - Dancefloor Hardcore 16. The Masochist - Killing Scum (Promo Remix) 17. Menace II Society - Chronic Disorder 18. Tommyknocker & Sunbeam - Twisted World 19. Outblast - Masters Symphony A proper Millennium Hardcore mix. And he's selected the well known anthems indeed. This is 65 minutes of pure Heaven. I've got to say that I've been hooked to this mix since the first time I heard it. This was exactly what I was looking for. Something to calm me down. Yeah, I know that sounds weird, but in my head it makes sense. Chilling as it might not seem to be, it does work for me. I'm sitting here, mellowed out of my skull, thinking about how good the music was around the Millennium. Of course I had to select DJ Sim's record as my favourite. You know it makes sense. The bass is just tremendous. You need to hear this at a festival, coming at you from the thousands of speakers surrounding you. You won't know what hit you. A wicked mix by DJ Radiate. The classics were selected, and with only a few small mixing errors, it was a highly enjoyable 65 minutes. I need to experience it more often. - Bryan Kearney - From The Archives 001 (Decadance Mix 2010)
It's Saturday, and it doesn't even feel like a Saturday. Another day in isolation. Well, not me, but you know what I'm saying. We all have to stay indoors, and keep everyone safe and sound. So doing your part is essential. Stay indoors, and crank up the volume to the max, because today I've got a wicked mix for you all to hear. A mix with wicked Tech/Techno anthems. One I wasn't even ready for. Bryan Kearney uploaded this brand spanking new mix (well, not really though)...well, let me rephrase that: he reuploaded an old mix from 2010, and with it, he starts this new mix series called 'From The Archives'. Seeing as we all got a bit of extra time on our hands, and Bryan too, he thought he could go through his collection of mixes, and reupload them bit by bit. Good idea though: how many mixes have been 'lost' forever? Time to start putting mixes back up, everyone! The mix you are about to listen to, is packed with so many wicked anthems. And I do mean a lot of wicked anthems. I had a quick look at the tracklist before I pressed play, and I did feel something tingling in my downstairs department. Why is that, you might ask? Well, it's because the tracks selected by mr Kearney are f**king epic! A lot of Mauro Picotto, and who doesn't like a bit of Mauro, eh? And there's a special reason for Bryan making this mix: these records have been imported to him, music wise. And not only to him, but also to me. These records came out during a time when I moved away from Hardcore due it's inevitable demise. So obviously you land into this majestic world. I've got a lot of fond memories when I think of it. So his mix is already a banger, without even having pressed play. Let me show you the awesome tracklist. If anything happens in your downstairs area, I do apologise. 01. Mauro Picotto - Hong Kong 02. Tomaz vs Filterheads - Sunshine 03. Gabry Fasano - Catapulta 04. Mario Piu - Mathmos 05. Marco Zaffarano - Playback (Mauro Picotto Remix) 06. Megamind - Taub? (Picotto Mix) 07. Mauro Picotto - Verdi 08. Mauro Picotto - Bangkok 09. Mauro Picotto & Riccardo Ferri - The Alchemist 10. Faithless - We Come One (Dave Clarke Remix) 11. Mauro Picotto - Baguette 12. Mauro Picotto - Back To Cali (Megavoices Remix) 13. Bismark - Primitive Love (Train Mix) 14. Simon Foy - Inside Out (Simon Foy Remix) 15. Mauro Picotto - Like This Like That (Tea Mix) 16. Bismark - Just A Moment (Clubby Mix) 17. Gabry Fasano - Sector .30 (Sector Mix) 18. Megamind - Krach (Picotto Mix) 19. Kai Tracid - Destiny's Path (Warmduscher Mix) 20. Karin Di Ponti - Hypnobounce (Jasmin Mix) 21. Joy Kitikonti - JoyDontStop (Freaky Mix) 22. Mauro Picotto & Riccardo Ferri - New Time New Place 23. Lava - Autum (Megamind Mix) 24. Tillmann Uhrmacher - On The Run (Ocean To Shore Club Mix) See, you thought I was lying, eh? I can picture you sitting there, a bit embarrassed due to something tingling, causing this weird feeling. But I was right. This mix is excellent. The records are excellent. Bryan, you've done it: the ultimate Saturday mix. The weather is looking good, and I'm guessing that we all have a bunch of speakers, so let's turn up the volume, and enjoy what Bryan has made 10 years ago. This mix should actually be called 'the Mauro Picotto' appreciation mix, because Bryan used a shit ton of his records. But truth be told: during the Millennium he dominated everything. Not only the Techno scene, but also the top 40 all around the globe. But yeah, it's an obvious choice to use Mauro Picotto anthems in this hour-ish long mix. I've got only love for this mix. Pure, and unadulterated love. A wicked mix, flawless, and also a free download. So what else are you looking for? I normally pick one favourite, but with this one I couldn't. They are ALL wicked anthems, all 31 of them. If you disagree, please leave a comment underneath, and explain why you are a doofus. - Aphex Twin Obscurities Mix Part II (02/04/2020)
Forgive me, I do not know a lot about Aphex Twin. I know that many people love or hate him. And I only know him from his world famous 'Windowlicker'. I bought the single, and still to this day the record makes me do things I've never done before. It's weird, it's quirky, and the video clip was so unique and different at the time: when it was released, I remember the whole world was talking about it. Talk of the town. Weird. And I do remember reading about Aphex Twin and how 'weird' he is. But truth be told, I know nothing about him. It seems that only 'Windowlicker' appealed to me, and nothing else. Selectabwoy to the rescue. He is about to educate me, teach me the learnings of Aphex Twin. And I've got a lot to learn. His latest mix contains only records by Aphex Twin. According to the mix info, it's not as obscure as the previous mix he made, but listen to me if I say that this mix is kind of obscure. Can't imagine anything being more obscure than this. Super dark, edgy, and underground. And it's a mix that takes you on a journey. The wonderful inside of Aphex Twin. The inside of his mind. This is what I was expecting. A fucked up mix. One that doesn't make any sense, and yet for dance lovers a must listen to mix. This hour long mix is just what you need to hear. It's got everything. And again, this is dark. Emotions galore! You will feel all kinds of feelings throughout this mix. So check it out, here's the tracklist: 01. AFX - Bit 02. AFX - Knievel 03. AFX - Lecce-Voltage Controlled Acoustic 04. AFX - SAW II un road shimmer 05. Q-Chastic - Cat002 06. AFX - Kids Beach 07. AFX - Cat00897-Aa1 08. Aphex Twin - Flaphead 09. Polygon Window - Quoth (Hidden Mix) 10. Aphex Twin - Ventolin (Probus Mix) 11. Caustic Window - Italic Eyeball 12. AFX - .215061 13. Polygon Window - UTI-Dot 14. Aphex Twin - Come To Daddy (Little Lord Faulteroy Mix) 15. AFX - Sloth 16. Aphex Twin - Grey Stripe 17. AFX - .38 18. Aphex Twin - Meltphace 6 19. AFX - Trojan.KILLAV.E 20. Caustic Window - Afx 114 21. Aphex Twin - Phlange Phace 22. Universal Indicator - Green - 03 (Untitled) 23. Aphex Twin - Wax The Nip 24. Aphex Twin - White Blur II 25. Caustic Window - Clayhill Dub 26. AFX - Analogue Bubblebath 3 - CD Only Track 1 27. Aphex Twin - Matchsticks I was expecting something quirky. Like extra dimensional. Something made in another universe, by some weird ass creature. A creature tied to a chain, being whipped by the alien species that controls it, whilst devouring organs from a cut-in-half human being with 24 testicles. And of course it has the face of Aphex Twin. But nothing like that, nothing that messed up. At certain times it was even soothing to listen to this mix. Calm and relaxed. The focus of this mix is Techno, but it sometimes goes into different territories, like Acid, which makes this mix even more interesting. My perspective on Aphex Twin has slightly changed. But, and I must say this, I have not listened to Selectabwoy's first mix. I'm guessing it's darker and edgier, so I might change my perspective on Aphex Twin in the near future. But for now, I'm liking the stuff Selectabwoy has selected for this mix. The flow is continuous and soothing. A real pleasure to my ears. Of course he had to go full ballistic at one stage, so around the 39 minute mark all hell breaks loose. And I get early Prodigy vibes. That Breakbeat sound I adore. Am I weird in saying that I hear Hardcore Techno influences in Aphex's music? Best of the best has to be the record that starts around 53 minutes. After 53 minutes of pure intensity you are treated to an outer space experience. And the only thing you can do is to sit back, close your eyes, and let the sounds take your soul into this new dimension. I don't know what it is, but I felt a bit haunted, like something dark was about to happen. I picture this music being played when the end of the world is about to happen. Fuck me, this is emotional. A wicked mix. Not what I was expecting. Or was it? I don't know, and we shouldn't really care. It's a banging mix. That's all that matters. I feel at ease now. I can dream peacefully. - GLOWKiD presents The Generation X Crew (2020)
Unless you have been living underneath a rock, you are probably aware of GLOWKiD's latest album. If not, don't you worry my son, TCD has got you covered. In case I need to introduce you into the wonderful world of GLOWKiD and his wicked website (click here if you want to visit it, and I urge you to do so), let me just say a few words about him: he's from Greece, and he loves music, especially NuSkool Hardcore. His website is the dopest website on God's given Earth. Much more professional, compared to mine. But he puts a lot of effort into it, if truth be told. He's got his own blog, his own video show, and dope interviews. And now his wicked album. How does he manage to find the time? The man behind the glasses, he's well known. He's in contact with the whole music world. And his page gets a lot of visitors every month. So to give the viewers something else, he made this album. Well, not just him, but also a few of his producing friends. The result is an album, with records by a wide variety of artists, from all over the world. That's the beauty behind projects like this one: music unites everyone. Especially nowadays, during the crisis we are all facing. We need something to keep us united. And this album could be the right tool to unite the raving community. I am not 100% sure, mainly because I'm lazy, but the actual album was limited, so there could be a few copies left. But today (Friday) this album will be available digitally. And I am urging you to give this album a go. Underneath this review there will be a Soundcloud player, if you want a teaser, a taste of what to expect on this album. But now, the tracklist! 01. GLOWKiD - Intro 02. Orestiz - Sucks 2B You 03. Damage Inc. - Sorry Riddim 04. Nefti - U Turn Me On 05. Insane & Mind - The Way 06. Amaretto - Building Shake 07. Monks & Mort - Wonderfull 08. TNO Project - Inside Ma Head 09. Spiral S - Rave 4 Life (Pressure Euphoria Mix) 10. Yudaidhun - Bring It Back To The Heaven 11. Schnez - Ricochet 12. Beats Are Broken - The Dreamer 13. Amiga Breaks - Get Busy 14. Nefti - Music Takes Me Higher (Vitality Remix) 15. Paul Cronin feat GLOWKiD - The Ardcore Crew If you are into Breakbeat/NuSkool Hardcore, you will feel like you have gone to paradise. The main reason why I also love this music a lot (but not as much as GLOWKiD) is the fact that it keeps the oldskool sound alive. Even though it's called NuSkool, it still remains focussed on the early sound, the early to mid 90s sound, and with this album GLOWKiD has captured the atmosphere correctly, and you can feel those wicked vibes throughout the album. First of all, credits to all the producers. Well talented producers. Gifted to keep the early sound alive. Praise for that. And secondly, credits to the man behind this project, for getting these artists together, for this wicked album. I genuinely had goosebumps when I pressed play. And I have actually danced like a monkey on acid in my living room. Normally I wouldn't do that, but seeing as there's literally no one on the street anymore, there's no one to judge me. So f*** it. From Drum and Bass sounding records, to Happy Hardcore vibes, to Breakbeat piano sections, to rave in its entirety. This album isn't just a standard album, focussed on one specific sound, this is an album dedicated to the raving generation, the lost generation, a.k.a. Generation X. We might have aged, but deep down inside we still keep the raving fire burning. The one record that grabbed my attention, because it had everything I was looking for, was 'Building Shake' by Amaretto. I thought that this was a drink, but clearly I was wrong. The vibes, the piano section, it just works beautifully. Simply the best record on this album. I do appreciate people like GLOWKiD who keep the community alive and kicking. With this album he has created a new surface for next generation artists to work on. The concrete has been laid, now others need to build on it. So let this album spark something within us all. Be inspired. Be as inspiring as GLOWKiD, my Greek friend, and music lover. No negative feedback to give. This album is just so damn good. - M@rt!n-J - 00's UK Hardcore (2020)
We are all still inside, bored stiff. Unless you are me, and you are extremely busy. Searching the world wide internet for music. And sometimes, and I have to underline the word sometimes, you don't even need to do anything! You can just sit on your big ass, and wait. Someone will always throw music at you. Like M@rt!n-J did the other day. He kindly informed me about yet another mix on his Soundcloud page. Guess which kind of music it's focussed on? Yep, UK Hardcore. He keeps on making excellent mixes, and during this COVID-19 period, it's not going to be any different. This time his focus is on the Millennium UK Hardcore. You know the kind of music: the best there is/was. In this mix he has selected the finest records from 2000-ish, and the result is an stunning mix. I am talking the big guns. He got the big guns out. Seriously impressive tracklist, I do have to say. So before we continue and talk utter bollocks and how great the music was back then, we should show you the tracklist first. It's a stunner, this tracklist. Some of these I've not heard in years. Underrated. Why does time fly by too damn quickly? 01. Weaver - Falling In (Hixxy Remix) 02. UFO & MC Marley - Connections 03. Goes - Dig It 04. Lukozade - Progression 05. Al Storm & Euphony feat Danielle - Breathe 06. Breeze & Styles - The Beat Kicks 07. Uplift - Midnight Resistance 08. Scott Brown - Hardcore Hustler 09. Plus System - Blue Anthem (Remix) 10. UFO - Punk Access 11. Breeze & Styles - Black Magic, Bad Magic (VIP Mix) 12. Breeze & UFO - Take Your Time 13. Hixxy - Only Time (Uplift & Stargazer Remix) 14. Scott Brown - Gang Bang Society 15. UFO - A New Years Day What a sick looking tracklist. This has given me goosebumps. When I talk about UK Hardcore, THIS is the kind I'm referring to. The Millennium sound. Gosh, nothing made nowadays can come close. M@rt!n-J, your mix is sick. Truly sick. I've really enjoyed this, and the passion for the early Millennium sound has risen again. God, the Millennium is 20 years ago. These tracks still sound dope, and fucking fresh. Got to give the DJ the credit for selecting these anthems. Of course he had to add a few well known anthems in here, but also a few forgotten classics. And the one I had never heard before, is the one I fell in love with completely! You have to remember that when I discovered this, I was still living in the Netherlands, and was the only one who would really appreciated it. I felt special. Unique. Different. And I couldn't care less. Seriously, what a good mix. It's has a few small errors, but nothing major. Impressive. The best record? Well, 'Only Time'. I get early Freeform vibes when I hear this record. Pure slammer. Why don't I hear this more often? Bring back the early sound, and do it right NOW! It's also a free download, so go mad! - Dash Berlin - Vinyl Mix II - March 2020
I remember the last time I reviewed a Dash Berlin set: it blew my website into smithereens. The amount of visitors were tremendous, especially for this hobbyist's website. Dash Berlin was so kind to retweet the message, and I received tons of great feedback. After that he used his Jeffrey Sutorius alias, and I reviewed a mix, and now he's back behind the wheel of the brand Dash Berlin. I am not going to talk about this whole debacle, I am going to focus on the mix (like we should always do, keep certain things private). And the music, well, is good. The mix is extremely fine. And as you can see from the title of this reviews, it's all vinyl Dash Berlin used. So these are classic anthems! And boy, did he use some fine anthems! He underlines it, by having 'Anthems' as his first record! And he was even so kind to play the forgotten gems. Don't worry: you don't get the cracking noise of the LP/vinyl. Clear and crisp sound coming through your speakers. So the tracklist. It's a must see. Especially when we've got nothing else happening at the moment, seeing as we have to stay in and watch TV. Why not listen to some excellent Trance anthems? You know it makes sense. 01. Filo and Peri feat Eric Lumiere - Anthem (Nic Chagall Mix) i 02. Maor Levi - Reflect 03. Dash Berlin with Cerf, Mitiska & Jaren - Man On The Run 04. Jurgen Vries - The Theme 05. Viframa - Cristalle (Katana feat DJ Precision Remix) 06. Signum - What Ya Got 4 Me 07. The Mystery - Mystery (Above & Beyond Mix) 08. Piet Blank & Jaspa Jones - Cream (Paul van Dyk Mix) 09. Survivors - Heaven 10. Future State - Now Is The Time 11. Dash Berlin feat Emma Hewitt - Waiting (Sean Tyas Remix) 12. Binary Finary - 2000 (JamX & DuMonde's Millennium Remix) This is an excellent mix. It's Sunday, and we all need to relax. Take our minds of this horrible COVID-19 disease. So why not chill with the finest Trance anthems, selected by Dash Berlin, and mixed together beautifully? I wouldn't say no to that option, if truth be told. And currently I am actually listening to this mix, so I am following my own designated path. I'm loving it. Some of these records I've completely forgotten about! No joke. I forgot how awesome Signum's anthem was, or 'The Theme'. Or 'Cream'. My God, when that tune came out, I was hooked on it. This mix contains everything you need to hear right now: some early Trance stuff, and some more recent. I've got no negative feedback regarding this mix. It's perfect, and beautiful. And the best record? Dash Berlin saved the best for last: '2000' by Binary Finary, remixed by JamX & DuMonde. Fucking epic anthem. Let Dash Berlin take you on a journey this Sunday. - DJ Thera - Hit You With That Oldskool - Mixtape 3 (2020)
DJ Thera is back with a new mixtape. This time it's his third mix for his already legendary Oldskool mixtape series. I've reviewed the second mix in this series, and now it's time for the third instalment. We are fully aware what this mix is about, but if you are not sure, this mix is all about the Early Hardstyle sound, from the early 2000s. The sound we all miss, and love with a passion. This is music that has shaped the present day Hard/Rawstyle scene, I do praise people for bringing back the early sound, from whatever style it is: be it Hardcore, Techno, Hardstyle, hell, even House music. But today the focus is Hardstyle, the early Hardstyle sound. And boy, is it packed with awesome tunes! I've forgotten most of them. I should have stayed true to the original sound, and still played those compilations over the years, but sadly they have been collecting dust. What this mix also shows me and makes me wonder, is what happened to most of these names? I've not seen a few over the last couple of years. Maybe I'm just not that much into social media, and should invest more time in exploring who's still active. Ah well, we've got the time now (thanks COVID-19). Here's the tracklist if you are interested: 01. Brennan & Heart presents Nightflow - Day Of Forever (Hard Mix) 02. DJ Hellraiser - The Outer Limits 03. Donkey Rollers - Thunderbeats 04. Atlantic Wave - The Creation (Giada Remix) 05. DJ Ricky T - Generation T (Hardstyle Mix) 06. JS Ten - Louder (JK Walker Remix) 07. Headliner - B.O.D.Y.P.U.M.P. (Showtek Remix) 08. DJ Tomcraft - Prozac (Tony H Yeah Remix) 09. Orion's Voice - Cockroaches (DJ Scot Project Remix) 10. Warmduscher feat Lamont Humphr - Hardcore Will Never Die (Derb Remix) 11. Dana - Back In Time 12. Sa.Vee.Oh - Nohacker.exe 13. Builder - Skyscraper (DJ Luna Antolini Hard Mix) 14. Kai Tracid - Destiny's Path (Warmduscher Remix) 15. Chiren - Equalize It 16. Jimmy The Sound - Modulo (Modulo One Vrs) 17. The Juvenile - Hardcore Sukkas 18. Walt - Let The Music Play 19. Origin Unknown - Red Planet (Misdome Remix) 20. Brennan & Heart - Disappearance 21. Overdrive - Listen To The Fat Bass 22. The Raiders - Disk Warrior (Disk Mix) 23. Ayumi Hamasaki - Trauma (Dumonde Remix) Wow. These are truly forgotten gems. Can't believe some haven't stood the test of time. This meaning that they do not appear in more mixes. They should deserve a bigger stage. Like when the early sound dominated the charts. Anyway, Thera's mix. It's awesome! Flawless. And packed with the tunes that we need to hear during the lockdown. So many great records by big names such as Kai Tracid, Warmduscher, Tomcraft, Donkey Rollers, etc. Thera's selection is truly inspiring. And I hope he continues making these mixes: they do bring a huge smile on my face. I'm not saying that I dislike the present day Hardstyle, but the early sound still beats the present day sound. Sorry guys and girls, but for that is the truth. Can't beat those original sounds. The best record? Pff, there were a few, but 'Modulo' has got to be the best. It just grabs your throat and holds onto you, and latches itself into your brain. This is a track which remains in your big skull for the rest of the day. Turn the volume right up, and also check the previous two mixes! Thera, thanks for these mixes so far, but don't stop: we need more!
