- Marc Acardipane | HARD DANCE NYC: Spinoff Gabber (2019)
Been off for a few days, and now I've come back, and there's a lot of new music I wanted, no needed to share with you all. One of the first of this week has to be a set by the Godfather of Hardcore, Marc Acardipane a.k.a the Mover a.k.a PCP a.k.a the million aliases he has had over the years. The legend himself was asked to play at the Hard Dance NYC back in 2019, and he smashed it. But would you expect anything else from the Godfather himself? The one who has given us so many memorable anthems since the early 90s up until 2021? This man does not need an introduction, but if you are questioning who he is, you might need to indulge yourself into his history, and the best thing to do, is to listen to Mescalinum United's 'We Have Arrived' song. To many the first ever Hardcore track (hence why he has got the nickname Godfather for a reason), but if you aren't aware of this track, you might know a few others he has played during this set. Why? Well, good question: this set is packed with most of his own stuff. Sometimes you just want to go back to your roots, back to what made you the person you are. Hearing the tunes from the 90s is what makes me feel young again, but not only that, but also the video of this set in NYC takes me back to the 90s: no mobile phones, and 'simplistic' lights. No fancy stuff, nothing too dramatic. That's how it was back in the 90s. You wouldn't believe it, but it's the truth. The gabbers from the 90s were happy with just a few strobes, simple lights, and that's it. Oh, and of course big ass speakers. Who goes to a rave that has a shitty speaker system? Just pure rave and nothing else. There's nothing that would make me happier. And the tunes, are they good? Hell yeah! See for yourself! Marc Acardipane - Today Tomorrow Forever White Breaks - White Line (A1) Moby - Thousand Ace The Space feat Mr. Shabazz - 9 Is A Classic Mescalinum United - We Have Arrived Rave Creator feat Cypher - Immortal Miro - Purple Moon Pilldriver - Doin' Drugs Marshall Masters - Stereo Murder Miro - Shining E-Man - Bass Machine w/ Nasty Django & DJ Cirillo - Deal Wit' Beats Turbulence - Disaster Area Dr. Macabre - Poltergeist Rave Creator - A New Mind (Cold Rush Phuture Mix) E-Man - Under My Command Rave Creator - Into Sound (Marshall Masters Remix) w/ The Mover & Rave Creator - O.K. Bassquake The Mover & Rave Creator - Atmos-fear Steve Shit - Havin' Sex Marshall Masters feat Nasty Django - Hustler For Life (Live At Club X) Darrien Kelly feat The Unknown MC - The People Want More (Original Edit) w/ 6-Pack - Drunken Piece Of Shit (Mix 1) w/ Masters Of Rave - Are You With Me (Energie Hallen Mix) w/ Masters Of Ceremony - Hardcore To Da Bone w/ Aphex Twin - Come To Daddy (Pappy Mix) w/ Moby - Feeling So Real (Original Mix) w/ Neophyte - Get This Motherfucker Inferno Bros - Slaves To The Rave (PCP Mix) T.urbulence - 6 Million Ways To Die Beethoven - Greatest Works Part 1 (Classic Planet Core Drum & Bass Version) If you look at this tracklist and do not underline the significance of these tracks, are you Hardcore bro? Do you even lift? Do you hakkuh or not? Come on. If this doesn't tickle you whatsoever, you can consider yourself a newbie, or just not Hardcore enough. Trust me, these are the classics, these songs made Hardcore the way it is! There are just too many awesome records to choose from, but I had to pick just tree that I wanted to hear over and over again, and if you dislike my decision, leave a comment below, and I won't read it. So the three I've chosen are as follows: Miro - 'Purple Moon'. This is just such a Trancy sounding Hardcore anthem. Miro was ahead of its time. Then I would go for Darrien Kelly feat The Unknown MC's 'The People Want More', just because it was released around the time I started raving, and I heard it everywhere. And lastly the shock of a century: Moby's 'Feeling So Real'. A true underrated rave classic! Fuck it, let's say 'Stereo Murder' is the ultimate dancefloor killer. Marc did his best to get the crowd moving, and you can see them moving during his set. Even singing along when needed. But they are having a great time, like myself back in 1998 when I saw Marc live at Mysteryland 1998 outdoor. The crowd are loving it, and so am I. You can watch the set on Youtube or listen to it on Soundcloud, whatever floats your boat. I think that this is yet another epic set by Marc, only slightly ruined by the last record that went on a bit too long. It's a quirky way to end your set, but I would have rather heard another classic from the man behind the most influential label ever! Worth checking out, right? - Vertile @ Supremacy 2021
I had another few reviews planned, but stumbled upon this set by Vertile. And as you all know, I am a huge fan of Vertile since I heard him for the first time back in 2020. So I literally dropped all the other mixes aside, and jumped on this set, which was only recorded a few months ago, at Supremacy 2021. When raving was still OK. Before it all went tits up in The Netherlands, and the whole dance scene came to yet another screeching halt. Maybe that's what they need to do in 2022: have one month of parties only, and lockdown for the rest of the year. 31 days, 21438y897234 parties all over The Netherlands. And Vertile playing at most of them. And to start Supremacy 2021 with this legend must have been a great experience. So many happy faces on the dancefloor, all raising their hands in the air for Vertile... that's my heaven on earth. Of course he wasn't the only one at this event, here are some names you might be interested in: Radical Redemption, Warface vs D-Sturb, Rebelion, Delete, Act Of Rage, E-Force, The Gang Live (Rooler & Sickmode), D-Fence, Killshot, Rejecta, Ncrypta, Crypsis, Digital Punk, Sub Sonic, Bloodlust, and MC Nolz. A good and decent line up, don't you think? His productions have amazed me from the first moment I've heard them. They have been top notch, and highly entertaining. For me Vertile's music is the right music to get me in the mood. And I'm not the only one who thinks this way: a lot of positive comments on Youtube, and people describing him as a future talent..To me he's the biggest in the Rawstyle scene, Of course he had to be booked for Supremacy. And even though the whole area wasn't filled to the brim yet, he got those who were there dancing. He gave them the boost they needed . A lot, and I do mean a lot of hands are thrown into the air! And I wish I was there. Now you are hoping to find the tracklist to this set here, right? Well, voila! Vertile - Together We Grow Rebelion - Echoes (Vertile Remix) Vertile & Demi Kanon - How We Do It Aversion - Face Of Chaos Vertile - On My Own Vertile - Ain't Nobodi Vertile - Eyes Closed (Kick Edit) Adaro & Vertile - Walk With Me Vertile - Eyes Open Endymion & The Viper feat Feral Is Kinky - Raging In The Dancehall (Vertile Remix) Vertile - The New Normal D-Sturb feat Alee - Party At My Place (Vertile Remix) Vertile - Change This Place Adaro - Flame Up High (Vertile Remix/Supremacy Edit) Vertile - Stronger (Kick Edit) Vertile - Not My Affection (Kick Edit) Gunz For Hire - Ongedierte Van De Nacht I am a sucker for Vertile's music! I cannot get enough, and multiple times during the week I have to listen to his songs. I even tried to get his music played at my wedding, but the wedding DJ probably thought it was a tad too rough. It would have been me on my own on the dancefloor, but oh how much fun I would have had. Who cares about an angry wife? I just love the atmosphere in the video: everyone is just having a great time! Hands in the air, and only a handful of mobile devices in the air. More hands than mobile phones in the air, and that's the way it should be. And the people singing along to the songs... goosebumps. Smiles for miles, but also excellent music. Every time I hear a Vertile set, I always discover new music, and I always find a newer 'best Vertile' track. And in this Supremacy set it has to be 'Eyes Open'. What a fucking anthem! This style is just what gives me the energy and brings a huge smile on my face. This is Rawstyle the way I like it. A fantastic set, and hopefully the Dutch will be able to party again like before the lockdown. Yes, the 'new' normal is one of Vertile's tracks and suits 2020-2021, but fuck it, let's change the normal back to how it was. 2022 will be a glorious year, and we should give Vertile a bigger stage, and have him play not an opening set. He deserves so much more. Ps. I love the footage taken from behind the DJ. The video is shaking so vividly... just what most of us are missing now. Shaking grounds, fists in the air, and banging music. Fuck COVID. Maybe one tiny side note: stop touching the flanger. Not needed. - Anthems Of Svenson & Gielen (Mixed By Darren Simpson) (2015)
If you grew up during the late 90s, you must have been intoxicated by the anthems released by Svenson and Gielen. This legendary duo from Belgium took the Trance scene by storm, and during the late 90s and early 2000s, you couldn't avoid them. They were literally everywhere. Not only dominating the charts in their home country Belgium, but all over the world. And if you think about it: who has been to a rave during these glorious years and NOT heard a Svenson & Gielen song? That simply did not happen: their tunes were played everywhere, and even in 2021 their songs are loved and appreciated! And they became so successful, they released their first album on the mighty ID&T. If you ask people to name their favourite DJ duo from the 90s/early 2000s, they will probably name Svenson and Gielen. They were everywhere, and their songs became iconic songs, defining a new generation that stood up and moved towards the dance floors all over the world. If you weren't around during these glorious years, you might need to re-educate yourself, and google these two names. If you've done that, come back here, and listen to this mix. A mix by Darren Simpson, who not only used the tracks from S&G's 2002 album, but also a few anthems that were missed on the album. It's nice to hear those memorable anthems and a few forgotten tracks. Are you ready for Svenson and Gielen? Are you ready for an overload of their tunes? The Thrillseekers - Dreaming Of You (Svenson & Gielen Remix) Svenson & Gielen - Twisted (Original Mix) Blank & Jones - Watching The Waves (Svenson & Gielen Remix) Factor 9 - Release Me (Svenson & Gielen Remix) Delerium feat Jael - Afer All (Svenson & Gielen Remix) Airscape - L'esperanza (Armin van Buuren's Rising Star Mix) Svenson & Gielen - Answer The Question (Cosmic Gate Mix) Spacediver - Unspoken (Svenson & Gielen Remix) Svenson - Sunlight Theory (O-Zone Mix) Alice Deejay - The Lonely One (Airscape Remix) Airscape - Sosei (Original Mix) Svenson & Gielen feat Jan Johnston - Beachbreeze (Remember The Summer) (Green Court Remix) Svenson - Inside Out Tiesto - Lethal Industry (Svenson & Gielen Remix) Delerium - Silence (Airscape Remix) Svenson - Clubbin' On Sunshine (Svenson's Original Mix) Svenson & Gielen - The Beauty Of Silence (Original Mix) Svenson & Gielen - Fujirama Ayu - Depend On You (Svenson & Gielen Remix) Of course I knew about 90% of these songs, and it's because of 'Release Me' that these two have gained my respect, but Darren Simpson's mix has made me open my eyes to another wicked anthems, which I've completely forgotten about. A track better than all their top 40 hits combined! Guess which song I'm referring to! Darren's mix is tight, and highly enjoyable. And I'm not the only one who appreciated this mix, and the tunes made by Svenson and Gielen. Yes, the mix might have been released 6 years ago, but who's looking when what happened? S&G released their songs nearly 20 years ago! How's that for time? I am in awe with the big hits, like 'The Beauty Of Silence', 'Sunlight Theory', 'Twisted', 'Release Me', 'Answer The Question', but the one that blew me away has to be 'After All'. What a song! Completely forgot this song even existed! The vocals are just stunning! Not a fan of a few songs, like Test's monster hit 'Lethal Industry', and Cosmic Gate's version of 'Answer The Question'. The original versions are just simply much better! But still, a very enjoyable mix. Full of monster anthems from Svenson and Gielen. Please take me back to 2001-2002-2003. Those were absolutely amazing years. Trance was so much better than present day Trance, right? What was your favourite Svenson and Gielen song/remix? Leave a comment below! - Trance Energy 2002 - Volume 2
The year is 2002, and Trance Energy is becoming the biggest Trance event in the Netherlands, heck, even in the world. It became the place to go to, to celebrate excellent music, with the finest Trance DJs from all over the world. And in 2002 it was already their 8th and 9th event. And let me just name a few of the artists that played during these two events: Astrid, Bas & Ram, Blank & Jones, Dumonde, Johan Gielen, JOOP, Talla 2XLC, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Cosmic Gate, Jean, Rank 1, Bart Claessen, Jurgen, Mark van Dale, Pronti & Kalmani, Francois, Kai Tracid, Yves Deruyter, and more. Not to gloat or anything, but f*** me sideways, those are some big names! Trance became so massive, it swept a whole nation, and we started dancing until the early hours of the next day. Hardcore was my thing during the 90s, but Trance filled a huge gap. And I'm glad that it did. Trance is more than just music: it embraces the name of the style. It takes you into this other state of mind. And Trance Energy was the right event at the right time. Obviously later during its course it ran dry, and it disappeared, but during the late 90s and early 00s it was beyond belief. It was the biggest event, and the event you need to have gone to. And with each event they had to release an album. And guess what I spent my hard earned cash on during those years? Correct, those CDs. I lost interest at a later stage, but those early Trance Energy CDs still hold memories, fond memories. They bring a smile and a tear on my face, and make me happy, even in 2021. The music compared to the present day is so much different, and simply cannot be remade. So distinctive for the early 2000s. So cool. Proper anthems they were, and still are! So what could you find on the second volume of the 2002 Trance Energy CD? Well, these: Trance Energy Intro - Lift Off Score Age - Cosmo Fragrance Mark Norman - Faith Benicio - Don't Explain DJ Astrid - Starfever Exposure - Magic Impulse Matanka - Lost In A Dream (Push Remix) Rapid Eye - Circa Forever (Iberia's Main Room Mix) Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar (Marco V Remix) Fragma - Time And Time Again (Megara vs DJ Lee Remix) Trance Allstars - Go (Talla 2XLC Remix) Visionair - Ease The Pressure Eon - Talk To Me Hi-Gate - Saxuality (DuMonde Remix) Walt vs Zero-Gi - Contact Don Diablo - Acceleration Svenson & Gielen - Answer The Question (Johan Gielen Remix) Jurgen Vries - The Theme (DuMonde Remix) Mallorca DJs - The Fight DJ Frost - Poison JamX & De Leon meets Tom Wax - Louder (Hennes & Cold Remix) Trance Energy Outro - Landing Sequence I cannot describe how happy this tracklist makes me. And to hear these songs again. It's been a while, but it's like reuniting with an old friend: everything just makes sense, and makes you feel whole again. Don't ever have a debate with me in regards to what Trance is, because I would point out the early Millennium years. It's a fact. These were the tunes that took the world by storm, and still held its value in 2021. And our future generations will look back at the music from 2002 and will dance until the early break of dawn. The thing that I really liked were the intro and the outros. Especially the intro. This one was space focussed, and the build up gave you enough energy to get going. But once Score Age starts, you know you will be in Heaven, enjoying a continuous mix of beautiful and peaceful music. Sometimes the Trance enters Hard Trance territory, but that's not a bad thing. It's all Trance at the end of the day, right? There are so many big anthems, like 'Answer The Question', 'The Theme', 'Go', 'Starfever', 'Cafe Del Mar', and more. The two biggest anthems have to be these two, and for good reason: 'Talk To Me' and 'Magic Impulse'. Made by Ferry Corsten, and PUSH. So you know the tunes will be banging. A very fantastic CD. Many memories linked to it. And to me the finest Trance Energy CD out there. Prove me wrong, yeah? Thankfully someone posted this on Soundcloud, so you can now enjoy it too (if you didn't purchase the CD back in the day!). - ViperStar & Sqxishie - Rave Tunes Vol 1 (2021)
I've been offline for a few days, charging up my battery back in the Netherlands. But now my battery is fully recharged again, time to start reviewing again. And one of the first mixes I've found on Soundcloud was made by my old pal ViperStar, and he teamed up with someone called Sqxishie. Never heard of the second name, but today is my lucky day: I get to be introduced to this new name in my books. And the other added bonus is the fact that this mix you are about to listen to, contains UK Hardcore anthems! Two birds with one stone, eh? It's been a while since I last heard a ViperStar mix. Must be a few years at least, right? But one thing I do remember was the fact that he likes to make a mix quirky. He would have the finest UK Hardcore anthems in a mix but also a few obscure ones. And would you Adam and Eve it, he's done it again. This time with Sqxishie, you get the big Hardcore anthems, and a few records I've never heard before. A mixture of literally everything. But are you ready for the happiness? Are you excited enough to indulge yourself into the wonderful world of ViperStar and Sqxishie? Are you though? Well, if you are, you will be greeted by a lot of wicked anthems, old and new, known and unknown, all mixed together into this one hour-ish long mix. What a pleasant way to start your week with. Here's the tracklist: Breeze & Styles - Electric 2010 Jose Hardcore - We Do Hardcore RLD - PSA (Robbie Long & Stormtrooper Remix) Ravers Unite - Hardcore Vibes (Sy & Unknown Remix) Orbit1 - Jitter 0,5 Cheever - The Definition (VIP Mix) Re-Con & Squad-E - Can't Buy Me Love Dougal & Gammer - Fire In The Sky Code Black & Atmozfears - Accelerate (Darren Styles Edit) Ultrabeat vs Darren Styles - Discolights Flip 'N' Fill feat Kelly Llorenna - True Love Never Dies (Darren Styles Remix) Weaver & JTS - Phantasy Darren Styles feat Molly - Never Forget You Lumin8 - Pretty Eyes (A.B Remix) Billy Daniel Bunter & Sparky feat Fraz - Keep On Trying Ham - Epic Riff Dougal & Gammer - Save A Life Ruffage & Serenity - Headlong Into Mischief JAKAZID feat Barry Scott - Cillit Bang Aluna - All Of My Life (Breeze & Styles Remix) Klubfiller feat Kyla - On A Cloud Tronik & Olly P - Fire Inside The Vain Re-Con - Bang 9 Re-Con - Just Release Me Re-Con & Demand feat Mandy Edge - I'm Sorry Yes, yes yes. This has made my day, and it has given me enough energy to keep me dancing throughout the week ahead. It's only Monday, but I'm already experiencing a UK Hardcore buzz, and I'm well up for it. Give me more UK Hardcore. They both selected wicked anthems, and I do like the mixture of known and unknown. And it raises the question, what do you prefer, the old or newer UK Hardcore? Which camp are you in? The new or the old? Well, a mix like this one shows me that I can like both, but my preference goes to the old stuff. Especially after hearing 'All Of My Life' by Aluna , remixed by Darren Styles and Breeze. Come on, nothing can beat the classics, right? A few wicked anthems in here. Got to give ViperStar and Sqxishie credit for choosing wicked records. Really enjoyed myself.I felt like Marty McFly, going backward and forward in time. It's been a pleasant trip, if truth be told. And nicely mixed too. If you like UK Hardcore, jump on this mix, and press play. You won't be dissatisfied. Maybe the only side note: the size of this is 675 MB! Wowsers. - The Sound of Decibel Outdoor 2021
It's Saturday, time for Hardstyle. And today's mix is all focussed on one of the biggest events in the Netherlands, for all that appreciate the harder styles: Decibel. One of the events I've never been to sadly. But over the years I did collect the Decibel CDs, and became obsessed with this event. I cannot explain in words why I never went to this event, I simply can't. I can come up with every excuse under the sun, but it won't justify why I've never been. So I do profusely apologise for not being hard enough. Please forgive me. But I've been outside of the Netherlands for too long, and I'm not following the news, but what I read somewhere is that Decibel 2021 did not go ahead. Am I right? Yes, COVID-19 is the biggest pain in the ass for the last 2 years now, and it will remain a haemorrhoid for a few years to come. But thankfully, and I say that lightly, we've still got the music and memories of previous parties. Zerox made this mix, filled with anthems you could have heard at the 2021 edition of Decibel or previous parties. I know it might feel like rubbing salt into your wounds, but come on, 2022 might be better.... So what's in this mix, and what might get you happy today? Well, a lot of Hardstyle songs. Past, present and future anthems. The songs selected are more euphoric and vocally songs, perfect to keep us warm throughout these cold days. Who needs central heating when we can just put mixes like this one on, and dance like never before? The mix contains records by the biggest names in the scene, and it will make your Saturday even better. Come on, yes, Decibel 2022 is just around the corner, start saving your pennies! Brennan Heart - City Of Intensity (Decibel Outdoor Anthem 2009) Sickdellz - Hold Me Close Code Black, Da Tweekaz & Adrenalize feat Matthew Steeper - Heart Like Mine Sound Rush feat Exilium - Unshakable The Pitcher - Keep It Up Hard Driver - Shifting Gears (Decibel Outdoor Anthem 2015) Adaro - The Haunter Of The Dark Audiotricz & Villian - World Is Mine Xense - Up In The Clouds (Jay Reeve Remix) Wildstylez feat Lindi - Sanctuary Headhunterz & Zatox feat Nikkita - The Perfect Weapon Zerox - Symbols Noisecontrollers & Bass Modulators - Destination (Decibel Outdoor Anthem 2017) Bass Modulators - Bass Ex Machina Gunz For Hire - The Cycle D-Block & S-te-Fan - Gates Of Paradise A-RIZE - Faith Of The Saint Atmozfears & LXCPR - Live Loud (Decibel Outdoor Anthem 2019) B-Front - Witch ANDY SVGE & Digital Punk feat Mark Vayne - World In Flames MYST - Find You D-Block & S-te-Fan - Sound Of The Thunder (D-Sturb Remix) (Zerox Decibel Outdoor Edit) Thyron - The Hardstyle Way D-Sturb - Fire & Blood Sub Sonik - Infinity (Demi Kanon Remix) Devin Wild - The Innergame Frequencerz & Rejecta - Stay Loud (Decibel Outdoor 2020 Tribute) What about that, eh? If you are looking for the ultimate euphoric Hardstyle mix, you definitely don't need to look further, you have found it. These are the songs that get you on the dancefloor and raise your hands to. Fisting the air is probably what most people are missing, and also stomping the floor like never before. So what is it that I like and love about this mix? Well, there are multiple reasons. They are euphoric, and that's the way I like my Hardstyle. It needs to give me feelings of excitement and happiness, and euphoric Hardstyle does that beautifully. But it also should give me the energy to stomp the fuck out of my Nikes. And that's also what happens during this mix. But instead I do not wear any shoes inside the house, and instead of stomping with shoes, I'm stomping the floor with my heels, and probably will get blisters soon. The mix is tight, and the tracks are truly solid as a fucking rock. Too many to name, none to shame. One record did stand out a lot, compared to the others: 'Infinity'. So melodic, euphoric, and hard as nails. It's a melody that will remain in your head for a long, long time. A wicked mix. Something to listen to and get you excited for next year's Decibel. Come on, don't be down, look at the positives. 2022 will be the best year for us all! - Tribute To Armageddon Project By A-Vortex (2020)
It is Wednesday, and I had a day off. During today I needed something to get me going through the day, and this mix you are about to listen to gave me enough energy to keep me going. And if you are into Industrial Hardcore, the name Armageddon Project might give you goosebumps. If you aren't, why the freaking heck are you reading this? You must know them, this famous duo from Italy, bringing the fire wherever they go. Well, to be fair, I've never seen them live, so I can't judge, but on multiple social outlet pages people seem to have enjoyed their sets, so I'm guessing or a) they are lying or b) they really liked it. If anyone knows what's the current status of this duo, that would be appreciated. I've checked, and couldn't find anything of interest recently posted. It's been rather quiet, and by looking at their agenda of past events, they don't perform that often. So it's a rarity to see Armageddon Project live, eh? It's a rarity that a lot of people look out for. Since the early Millennium years I've been listening to Armageddon Project, and I think the one track that took me by surprise was 'Spawn Of Misanthropy'. When I heard that track for the first time many years ago, I knew that this was going to be something else. And many do agree that this specific song is fire. Many agree also that they gave Industrial Hardcore a face. They gave their style a unique face, an approach not done by others. You can tell by just listening that it's an Armageddon Project song. They do stand out, and they bring the rawness wherever they go. Over the years they have released a lot of wicked tracks, and introduced many people to Industrial Hardcore, including the DJ who made this mix (I think). A-Vortex made this mix a year ago, and it's roughly 70 minutes of Armageddon Project. 32 records. What else would you wish for? Armageddon Project feat Promo - Poisoned From Within Armageddon Project feat Promo - Revelations 12:7-9 Armageddon Project - Floating In Acheron Armageddon Project - Of Dreams And Disillusions Armageddon Project - The Fifth Revelation Armageddon Project - Far Beyond The Triumphants Armageddon Project - Insecure Opponents Armageddon Project - Time To Disobey Armageddon Project feat Promo - Diamonds For The Pigs Armageddon Project - Godflesh Armageddon Project - Northern Whispers Armageddon Project - Spawn Of Misanthropy Armageddon Project - The Reverb Of A Promise Armageddon Project - Flight Of The Phoenix Armageddon Project - Beat Conductor Armageddon Project - Scorn Of A Dying Glare Armageddon Project - Church Of Pentagram (Mr. Madness Unofficial Remix) Armageddon Project - Ashes We Are Armageddon Project feat Promo - Righteous Infliction Of Retribution Armageddon Project - The Punishment Due Armageddon Project - Silent Rest Of The Undefeated Armageddon Project - No Hell No Dignity Armageddon Project feat Tommyknocker - Thy Kingdom Fall Armageddon Project - Like Serpents Tears Armageddon Project - Last Drop In Your Mouth Armageddon Project - Phase 2 Armageddon Project - Time Bomb Armageddon Project - Icons Of Disorder Armageddon Project - K-Hole Unfold Armageddon Project - Witchcraft & Desire Armageddon Project - Thirteen Upon Mankind Armageddon Project - And Yet Did Dare This is a very big tracklist, and it took me a while to bloody type. But in the end it's worth it, because you want to know what A-Vortex used in this 70+ minute appreciation mix. Of course it's packed with epic Industrial Hardcore anthems, mainly made by Armageddon Project and a few friends (like Promo and Tommyknocker). But mainly these were made by Armageddon Project, and they have become timeless classics. The one thing I've noticed are the track titles. They all seem to be quite dark and edgy. They could literally be the titles of Harry Potter books. The darker side of HP. But in all seriousness, these are quite dark, and it's like AP is telling us a story, a hidden message? I do love this mix, and I love the records selected. A-Vortex's dedication mix is a good one. With a few small errors, but nothing major. Worth checking out, and worth spending 70+ minutes listening to. It won't disappoint you. Well, it didn't disappoint me. Of course I had to pick a favourite song, and it has to be 'Spawn Of Misanthropy'. Probably their biggest hit ever. - Hagediscoklappers 1.0 (2021)
The other day I was on Soundcloud (like most days, if truth be told), and I found a mix which was shared. At this stage you are probably thinking 'TCD, tell us something new', but there's nothing new to mention. Maybe one tiny thing: I've been on this oldschool Hardcore buzz for a few weeks, and this is a Hardstyle/Rawstyle mix. It's been a while since I last heard a mix with big bangers in it. And it's been mixed by a newcomer in my books: Lizhard. That's an interesting and cool name. But is the name important? Nope, it's the mix that matters. And her first solo mix is now on Soundcloud, and already has got raving reviews. But as she's new (as far as I can tell), there's nothing to mention about her. She's new, and she's got a cool name. And she loves Hardstyle/Rawstyle. Oh, and she also had a mix featured on the mighty Monkey Kong Soundcloud channel. That's a good sign. Her first solo mix contains the finest and hardest Hardstyle anthems out there, all with a euphoric vibe surrounding it. Yes, the beats will come flying at you, but the melody will take you on another journey. You feel like you are in another dimension. I just love euphoric Hardstyle, don't you? So her first solo mix. I hope that my review is going to be pleasant enough for her. But I think she will like the review, as I'm already impressed by the tracklist, and the amount of tracks crammed into a 45 minute short mix. 23, to be precise. But which anthems are in here? Well, these: Coone & Joe Killington - Painkiller Phuture Noize - The Aftershock Bestia - Solar System Da Tweekaz & D-Sturb - Anything (2021 Edit) MYST - The Path We Take Cold Confusion - Awaken Adaro - A Deeper Space D-Attack - Born For This Cold Confusion - Drop That Beat Warface - Blow The Speakers Warface - Control The Soul Sound Rush & D-Sturb - Embracing The Madness D-Sturb - Fire & Blood Act Of Rage - Raveline Adaro & Vertile - Walk With Me E-Force & Bloodlust - Death Blow Bloodlust - Samurave Killshot - Horrorshow Killshot & The Straikerz - Here We Go Again Crossfight - Crisis Evolved E-Force & Luna - The Power Minus Militia - The Code Of Conduct Radical Redemption - Dominator Tribute This is a very good looking tracklist. Therefore, this mix can not have a negative score, or anything below 2,5 stars. The tracklist is gorgeous, and if you love your Hardstyle, you will agree with me. So many dancefloor demolishing anthems. These are the tracks you want to hear at big events such as Defqon.1, Decibel, and more. Good selection Lizhard. To me this shows that Lizhard has got a good set of ears, and knows exactly what the listeners wants to hear. The more euphoric, the better. Her selection of tracks brings the fire into our living rooms. My living room? Well, it's lit! And the car journey earlier was dominated by this bass ridden mix. The journey was short, but the music coming out of my speakers made me happy. Sorry people in Enfield if I annoyed you with my music. Blame Lizhard. I can only provide positive feedback based on the anthems. The only tiny thing I would want to see change is the length of tracks. Some are played too short, and she's very eager to jump to the next track. Does that make any sense? It was difficult to choose a favourite record in this mix, and I boiled it down to two records: 'Fire & Blood' by D-Sturb and 'Control The Soul' by Warfare. Two seriously insane monster anthems. Goosebumps galore! Check Lizhard out. If her next few mixes will be as good as this one, she will bring the fire! Ps. I am Dutch, hence the title of this website, but what the fuck does the title of this mix mean? 'Hagediscoklappers'? WTF? - Mauro Picotto - Live @ Trance Energy - 17-02-2001 (2021)
The weekend has finally arrived! And most of us are getting excited to party again. Or even Halloween, whatever floats your boat. To me neither appeals at the moment. I still try to avoid partying due to COVID cases rising again (and personal reasons), and Halloween has never been my thing. I am happy to stay at home and enjoy the music found on any cloud based server. Today's mix might be a familiar one, as I've already reviewed this one before (last year), but I thought it would be disrespectful NOT to re-review it again, as it's one epic mix.... So why the re-review? Well, it's because I recently found this mix among my favourite list on Soundcloud, and decided to give this another go. I already loved it from the first time I heard it, and still one year later it makes me happy. I am a sucker for excellent music, and even though some of you might think this is a crap set, or even judge the event (which, according to Partyflock, had mixed reviews). I cannot judge that, because I've not been to this Trance Energy (I think). But, to be fair, the line up for the 2001 smaller edition was kind of good, if not excellent: Push, Safri Duo, ATB, Jean, Johan Gielen, Mark Spoon, Mauro Picotto, and Rank 1. So yeah, a decent line up, don't you think? Well, maybe Safri Duo were just there because of their one-big-hit. To me the one set I would have loved to listen to (at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht), has got to be Mauro Picotto's set. Or, as the female presenter called him, Mauro Popocino. What the actual fuck?? Sometimes you just hear a set and think it's epic, and then there are sets you hear that will never leave you alone. It goes around in your head, grabs your throat, and throws you around like a rag doll. This is one of those sets. The music that Mauro made back in the early Millennium years was exactly what I needed, once Hardcore died. I needed something with a kick, and his music just fitted my raving requirements. The set is so damn good, I am writing about it again. I need you to understand that this set is among my top 10 all-time favourite sets EVER. Seriously impressive tunes, and they still hold their value, even 20 years later. The Hard Trance/Tech Trance sound is still a much loved style, and if you love Trance to be a tad faster, rougher and tougher, look no further. Mauro has got your back! Joy Kitikonti - Agrimonyzer (Fly Zone Mix) Mauro Picotto - Baguette Mario Piu - Mathmos Mauro Picotto - Like This Like That (Tea Mix) Mauro Picotto - Like This Like That (Megavoices Mix) Saccoman - The Recall (Picotto Answer Mix) John Thomas - Undisputed Life (Technasia Mix 2) Megamind - Taub? (Picotto Mix) Adam Beyer - Drumcode 2 (Marco Carola Mix) Sonus Terrarum - Sacrifice (Secundus Mix) L-X-Carbo - Dance Of The Crazy Pill (Blue Pill Mix) Duo Blank - Genetica Mauro Picotto - Verdi Mario Piu a.k.a. DJ Arabesque - The Vision (Vision 1 Mix) Mauro Picotto - Lounge/Pegasus Intro Mauro Picotto - Komodo/Save A Soul (Picotto's Private) Mauro Picotto - Pulsar (Picotto Mix) Joy Kitikonti - Energizer (Psico Mix) Joman - Raggatack (Attack Mix) Mauro Picotto - Freetown Mauro Picotto - Like This Like That (3AM Mix) Mauro Picotto - Proximus (Megavoices Claxxix Mix) This is just insane. Bonkers. Yes, I've said it. But it's all meant in good spirit. Back in the early 2000s I was hooked on this badly. My CD collection only consisted of Hard Trance CDs (mostly), and I've spent many thousands of guilders/euros on CDs. It became an obsession, and Mauro was partly responsible for this unusual craving for Hard Trance music. I did like this commercial side, like 'Komodo' and 'Proximus', which were big hits in NL, but I wanted more. Rougher and harder. And this set has got everything in it I would have listened to back in the day. I even remember hearing these tunes in clubs all over NL. Did it make me rave just a tad harder? Yes, hell yes. The set is roughly an hour and a half, and within those 90 minutes, you are treated to the finest records from 2001. And I've said it before multiple times in other reviews, but Mauro Picotto's 'Verdi' is such a monster anthem. But, hearing this mix for the 38977234 time, I have to change my favourite song of this set. Yes, can you Adam and Eve it (believe it?)? 'Raggatack' is big, Undisputed Life' a really cool classic anthem, 'Taub?' gets everyone going, but 'Freetown' is the one for me right now. That's the track that gets me going more than ever before. And it's one of Mauro's most underrated songs. Come on, just have a listen to it, and acknowledge that this track is fire! This is seriously one of the best sets I've ever heard. Yes, it might have an annoying mid section where it cuts out during 'Verdi' and goes to an advert (fuck adverts!), and it might have some small mixing errors, but the tracks are fucking tight as hell. Trust me when I say that you won't be disappointed hearing this set, and wish you could go back in time, to when Mauro dominated the dance charts all over the world, and he delivered one of the finest sets I've ever heard! - 2300 Followers Mix! (Mixed By Severe) (2021)
This Wednesday is powered by Uptempo Hardcore music It is well needed. It has been an exhausting week already, and we've got a few more days to go through. You need something powerful and hard as nails. Thankfully I've found a mix for you all to get you through the week. You might remember seeing a review a few weeks ago, and it was about a mix made by Severe. So, as you've already guessed it, he's made a new mix, seeing as he's reached 2300 followers on Soundcloud. A celebratory mix. Hopefully he will keep on releasing these types of mixes whenever he reaches another milestone, I need more of this. So what's in store today? Well, really hard Uptempo Hardcore, mixed together by Severe. Don't know much about this DJ, but what I have to say that the few mixes I've already heard, mixed by him, are already top notch mixes. Rough and edgy as hell, but just what I needed to hear. Not a fan of every harder style like Frenchcore (just don't understand the fascination surrounding it), but Terror, Speedcore, and Uptempo I can appreciate a lot. Especially if the tunes are really hard as fuck and rough. Sometimes you do find a record that blows your mind, and only a handful of weeks ago it was a track by DRS & Irradiate feat Tha Watcher that grabbed my attention. Maybe that's why I found this mix? Of course it is in here, but what else have Severe given us in this mix? Well, these songs: Andy The Core - Steal This (MBK Remix) MBK & Neox - Don't Give A Fuck System Overload & The Dark Horror - Propeller Blade DRS & Irradiate feat MC Tha Watcher - Warriors DRS & The Republic - Power 2 Da People DRS feat Madsin - Kingz (MBK Remix) System Overload - Mass Hypnosis (Chaotic Hostility Remix) The Dark Horror - MDFK Im Ill Angerkill & Yunke - Who The Fuck MBK & R3T3P - Heart Attack Angernoizer - Gunfight Yunke - Levitate The Motordogs & MBK - The Legends DRS feat Madsin - Wave Of The Future (Snakepit Anthem) Angernoizer - Insta Fake Shit MBK - Not Ganna Die Today (2021 Refix) System Overload - Like This (The Dark Horror Remix) Angernoizer, Insanity & FRX - Legends (Never Die) Yunke - Oldschool Rave Cryogenic - Wappie On Thunderdome Angernoizer - Demon Chopper DRS & Remix feat Madsin - Underground Music (Chaotic Hostility Remix) DRS & Angernoizer - HC Made Me Do It Yunke - Sacrifice MBK - Dance Like A Bull (Refix) MBK - Mental Disorder If you needed something in your life that will wake you up and would give you an energy buzz/boost, Severe has got your back. This mix has been on repeat from 06:25am until now, 05:21pm. And it's been a great listening experience. It might have caused the neighbours to loose their minds, but do you think I'd give a shit? No shits given. That's the vibe I'm getting. You get the BPMs thrown at you through your speakers, Within 55 minutes Severe takes you on a journey, one that will certainly heightens your anger. I can tell out of experience: I've been sitting here behind my desk for the last 8+ hours, sporadically raising my fists in the air, stomping the air, and bouncing my head up and down vigorously. I might have muscle and brain damage at the end of my shift, but it's oh so worth it. You know deep down inside that some mixes will make you happy, and when I heard this mix for the first time, I knew that I was going to be a happy bunny. 55 minutes and 26 records later I am sitting behind my computer, soaking wet, like I've just had a sex marathon. It was oh so worth it, to press play to this mix, and you should do the same. Best record? Ah, I was going for 'Warriors', but the bass in 'Like This' is something I've never heard of experienced before. Filth, fucking filth Let Uptempo take over the rest of the week. Fuck it. - Virus - Hard Cheese 3 (2021)
I know that I've never done it before (or maybe I have, but my memory is shit), but after only a handful of days I'm reviewing yet another mix by a DJ who I'd only reviewed a few days ago. Normally I would wait a few weeks, otherwise it might seem that I'm biased, but I just had to share this mix with you all. I am a sucker for Happy Hardcore, especially the cheesy songs from 1996 to 1998. Not saying I don't appreciate the later stuff, but truth be told: the mid to late 90s Happy Hardcore still remains the best of the best! Fight me if you disagree. DJ Virus made three mixes so far, and the first edition I reviewed. Now I went straight into the third edition of this mix series, but expect in the next couple of weeks me reviewing the second mix. Don't judge me for loving a bit of cheese, but this is literally the music I grew up. This kind of music takes me back to my teenage years, raving the night away in my bedroom (I was too young when Happy Hardcore was around).... Memories, only happy memories. And the music was just perfect for me. Hardcore was and still is cool, but for me I needed something happy, and euphoric. And Happy Hardcore was the right style for me. A lot of people hated it (and still do), but I literally couldn't care less. Spent a lot of money on compilations, which I still have. It just makes me extremely happy. Is it my favourite music genre of all time? It might be. It is certainly in the top three. Would I prefer this over the present day music? Yes, sadly yes. But thanks to DJ Virus for making me remember what it was like, being a teenager in the 90s. And also for reminding me that there's a whole generation out there born after the Happy Hardcore buzz of the 90s, who don't even know what this is. They might not even heard of Happy Hardcore at all! And that is astonishing! Let's focus on this third instalment and the records selected. These are the ones: Bopgun - Dream Factory The Prophet - Big Boys Don't Cry (4 Minute Mix) Pentium 75 - Space Bass Boombastic - Rudeboy Yves - Sadness Weirdo & Dr. Phil Omanski - Young Birds Promo - Blastin' The System Lipstick - Fly Away (Solid Hardcore Mix) Tom Ace - I'm Ready Party Animals - Have You Ever Been Mellow (Tekno Mafia Mix) Promo - Sing It Louder Triplet - Ragga Bum (DJ Isaac Remix) Isaac - We Like Marijuana (DJ Paul's Forze Mix) Waxweazle & Delerium - Dreams Of Heaven Diss Reaction - Jiieehaaaa Damage Inc. - Turn Around Brotherhood - Crazy (Bass-D & King Matthew Remix) Promo - Into The Light Boombastic - One Love Profound - Let Da Music Play Kadoc - You Got To Be There (Point .44 Remix) Frank-E & Mars-L - Back Once Again Ferocious - Please Don't Go Rob's Project - Loving You (Happy Hardcore Edit) Promo - Wicked Louie Yves - Losing Track Of Time Phantasia - Hold Me Now (R-Dee's Happy Hardcore Remix) Infernus - I Want Your Love (Bass-D & King Matthew Remix) The Company - Open Your Eyes (Ferocious Mix) Mystic - All That She Wants Promo - Gabbers Paradise So, the memories have come flying through. This second mix from Virus which I've listened to brings back a lot of memories, and also the hatred. It might not become clear what I mean by that, but all will be clear soon. The mix contains a lot of awesome records, some never even heard of. And a handful of forgotten records, some probably on purpose. It's nice to hear that DJ Virus did his best to find the best of the best cheesy anthems out there, which resulted in this 79 minute long mix. 31 records, all in one splendid mix. Really enjoyed this edition, and we should demand more from DJ Virus. Make sure you comment on this Soundcloud page, and scream for more! We need volume 4, 5, 6 and ongoing. All jokes aside, it's a very nice mix, with some anthems in here I've not even heard before, like the DJ Promo stuff. He only made the happier stuff for a short while before he ventured fully in the harder side of Hardcore, but I do like his happier stuff. Or anything with Bass-D and King Matthew. Top remixers/producers. Sadly the memories of them are focussed around MOH, but they should be proud of their Happy Hardcore history. What was I talking about, when I said the word 'hatred'? Well, the cheesy cheesy tracks. The tracks you really don't like, because they are bad. Yes, they do exist. Come on, 'All That She Wants', 'Gabbers Paradise' (I can understand why this is a forgotten anthem, it's bad!), 'Please Don't Go', and it goes on. I always had the feeling that these records were just made for the money side of Happy Hardcore, and not a lot of effort was put into these songs. And I always contribute the downfall of Happy Hardcore in 1998/1999 to these records and shoddy producers. Thanks for destroying what was epic. Wow, I think this mix has opened up a can of worms. But still, all in all, a really good mix. The positives outweigh the negatives by a long shot. The worst records have been mentioned, but which one is the best? I've got three which are all epic anthems: 'Crazy', 'Dreams Of Heaven', and 'Into The Light' (maybe my favourite DJ Promo track of all time!!!!!). From the two mixes so far the least favourite one, but still worth the following score: DJ: Virus Genre/Style: Happy Hardcore, Happy Gabber Mix Info: Virus - Hard Cheese 3 Length Mix: 01:19:47 Tracks: 31 (thirty-one) Download/Listen (via Soundcloud): CLICK HERE File Size: 201,4MB File Type; mp3 Release Year: 2021 Audio: Stereo Sample Rate; 44,1 kHz More Information: AdamDJVirus - Soundcloud Channel
- HAMdj - Ouwe Meuk (part 2) (2017)
I've been going through this phase now where I am literally listening to 90s Hardcore and nothing else. Is that a bad thing? Absolutely not! The last couple of days it's been Hardcore or Happy Hardcore, and it takes me back to a wonderful time when I was still a little Dutchman, and was living still in the Netherlands, happy as Larry. I discovered Hardcore back in 1993, and never looked back. From that moment onward, it has been a blessing in disguise. Not many of my friends liked it, but who cared? I certainly didn't care less. It was my thing, and no one else! So why am I discussing this? Well, today's mix is another Hardcore mix, with tracks from the 90s! The mix was made a handful years ago by HAMdj, and before you start questioning yourself if this is the UK Hardcore and Drum & Bass DJ Ham, it's not. Not much is there on his Soundcloud page, but the most important bit is this mix. It's 'Ouwe Meek', which means 'Old Shit' in English. Yes, that's a rough translation. If anyone from the Netherlands disagrees with the translation, apologies. Been here too damn long, loosing the King's Dutch sadly. As always, I talk about the tracklist before showing it to you, but let's dive straight on it. Here's the tracklist for you Hardcore nutters! The Prophet - With Your Love Duo Penotti - Addicted 2 Raves (Buzz Fuzz Remix) Davie Forbes - Apocalypse Now Gizmo - 2 The Rescue Jeremy - The Flow E-Rick & Tactic - Bring The Noise DJ Sim - Cartoons In Progress Promo - Bad Boy DJ Delerium & Omar Santana - Drop Da Beat Delerium & Buzz Fuzz - Immortality Tiny Tot - Discoland (DJ Isaac Remix) Bertocucci Feranzano - Sax B4 Dinner Pino D'ambini - Up & Down Ballz E-Rick & Tactic - Don't Like Mondays Boombastic - Booooom!!! E-Rick & Tactic - Stop The Music Dr. Phil Omanski & Jeremy - Feel The Rhythm (Bounty Mix) E-Rick & Tactic - Hysterical Drumbeats (Chosen Few Mix) Bertocucci Feranzano - E-Motion (Buzz Fuzz Mix) The Scotchman - Oblivion Angel - Take Me Away (E-Rick & Tactic Remix) Devious - Ice Cream Lancinhouse meets The Stunned Guys - Colds Getting Bigger Dano - Welcome To The Thunderdome Wasting Program - Nothing Left But Destruction C-Tank - Nightmares Are Reality Wow. This covers a lot of the 90s. From the early Thunderdome CDs to the later ones. A bit of everything, from Gabber to Happy Hardcore to Hardcore. And that, ladies and gentlemen, I like. Not just one style but multiple. To be fair, the line between Happy and normal Hardcore was at best very flimsy. This mix shows that it should have been classed as Hardcore, nothing else. The tracklist is gorgeous. Really wicked anthems. But one thing I've noticed is that HAMdj loves E-Rick & Tactic. So many records by these two producers. And you can tell he loves the early sound a lot, which I underline. Who doesn't love the early stuff? It's a nice mix to hear on this windy yet warm Tuesday. It fits in well with my Hardcore mood. Tracks selected are really good, with the exception of a few: who actually likes 'Booooom!!!', 'Don't Like Mondays' and 'Ice Cream', right? I can only appreciate these songs when I'm completely wasted. A good mix, with a few mixing errors. It's not perfect, but were you expecting perfection? It's an alright mix with slammers, especially DJ Gizmo's '2 The Rescue'. Such an underrated early Hardcore anthem. Get on this right now! - Virus - Hard Cheese
A new week has emerged, and it's time for something to boost up your confidence. The weather isn't great, if truth be told, and we need something that makes us smile. Smile for miles. Have I got the perfect mix for you all to check out on this Monday afternoon, eh? Probably the one mix that will get you through the week, to the upcoming weekend, when we are all partying again, right? And you've probably guessed it (but it wasn't that hard), this mix is filled with Hard Cheese songs. You might be wondering what that is, but if that's really on your mind right now, you are probably too young to remember the Happy Hardcore scene which was alive and kicking during the 90s. DJ Virus, who has made brilliant mixes before, has given us two mixes, filled with cheesy songs. He might have uploaded more, but at the time of this review, I've only seen two so far. The Happy Hardcore songs he used for this mix are legendary, and reminds me immediately of the 90s, when people talk about Happy Hardcore. Some people have got different views on what they classify as Happy Hardcore, but to me, DJ Virus has used only the finest and the best Happy Hardcore tracks, those I would immediately think of when someone says 'happy' and 'hardcore' in a sentence. Credit to DJ Virus for using a demon on this image, and having a different take on the mighty 'Thunderdome' lettering. The demons/devils were the ones you would look out for: Happy Hardcore was a compilation run by Arcade, and it had the distinctive characters on the front. A good flashback moment for me. Thanks DJ Virus. But it's not about the artwork, it's about the music. And I don't think you are ready for this filth. Trust me, you are not. Sushi feat Debby S - Fly Away (Extended Hardcore Edit) Love Child - All Out Of Love (Weirdo & Sim Mix) Angel - Take Me Away (E-Rick & Tactic Mix) Revolution Team - Makin' Up Your Mind (Hard Mix) Paul Elstak - Rainbow In The Sky (DJ Paul's Forze Mix) Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - Stars (Hardcore Remix) DD Zion - Blue Sky (There Is No Law Mix) Mindtrust - The Key To Your Heart (Bass-D & King Matthew Remix) Isaac - Bad Dreams (Remix) Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - Your Smile (Happy Hardcore Mix) Wonderland - Be On A Star (Ferocious Mix) Rave Nation - Going Crazy (Forze DJ Team Mix) Pulp Shock - Far Away (Wicked Dimension 1-2-3-4 Hardcore Mix) Twin Terror - I Feel Alive (Terror Mix) Paul Elstak - The Promised Land (DJ Paul's Forze Mix) External - Circles (Hardcore Edit) Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - Hardcore Feelings (Hardcore Mix) Profound - 4 O'clock Gab - You Better Watch Yourself (Duco Mix) 4 Tune Fairytales - My Little Fantasy (Bass-D & King Matthew Remix) Tokia - Big In Japan (Hardcore Version) Chronotrigger - Mammamia Back 2 Bass - I Wanna Be With You (Chosen Few Mix) Paul Elstak - Don't Leave Me Alone (Hardcore Version) Solid Base - I'm The Girl Of Your Dreams (Cixx's Hardcore Version) Highlander - Hold Me Now (I'm Sorry) (Bass-D & King Matthew Remix) E-Rick & Tactic - Bring The Noise Happymen - Love Is You (Stunned Guys Hardcore Mix) Omar Santana - Take Me Higher Paul Elstak - Luv U More (DJ Paul's Forze Mix) 4 Tune Fairytales - Take Me 2 Wonderland (Hard-Tune Remix) Bass-D & King Matthew - It's Magic Nakatomi - A Song Ooooh, these are moist making anthems! I feel like a teenager again, feeling all hyped up. These are the classics, these are the ones I grew up with. Yes, no other BS songs, these cheesy anthems dominated my youth, and now, in my late 30s, I'm still embracing them like there was no tomorrow. Fuck the haters, Happy Hardcore will never die! DJ Virus' mix is top notch. Really entertaining. Yes, some of these songs are just so cheesy, so bad, like 'Big In Japan' and 'Mammamia', but there are also a few in here which I consider the best of the best. So many happy memories surrounding these anthems, I should thank DJ Virus for making this mix. It's like its tailor made for me. Too many great anthems to choose from. 'Take Me Away','Your Smile', 'Love Is You', 'My Little Fantasy', 'Hold Me Now', these are all placed on second position, but the number one spot has to go to '4 O'clock' by Profound. Wicked track, really what I needed to hear today. Shame that there are a few version of awesome tracks on here I do not agree with, like Gab's 'You Better Watch Yourself' (such an underrated song, in all honesty) and 'Makin' Up Your Mind'. Would have been 100% this mix, but I would now give it 98%. Still fucking epic though, these throwback mixes. The 90s have never left my mind at all. Maybe I'll review the second instalment of this Hard Cheese mix series soon, and hopefully he will make more. We need MORE CHEESE! - DJ Delite - 180 4 Hardcore August '21
I hope you are all having a wicked weekend. If you have been out, and you are slightly hungover and craving for bacon and something else, let's just see if something else could bring you back to life. Some people need food, but what I've noticed over the years is that music gets me back to sanity. Oh, and also paracetamol or ibuprofen. It depends on what you prefer. Small tip: have a glass of water ready with two paracetamol, for you to have when you get back into bed after a night of raving. That always works for me. Never have a next day hangover. Now let's talk about today's mix. It's made by DJ Delite. Remember him? On my previous websites I would have multiple reviews of his mix on it, but sadly due to Trojan horses it got destroyed. And it's been a while since I last heard a Delite mix, which contained a tracklist. But this mix, made in August of this year, has got a tracklist, and it's filled with UK Hardcore anthems. Happy days! Remembering well, DJ Delite used to provide me with UK Hardcore mixes with a variety of artists, and this mix is no exception. From well known artists to the more unknown artists, everything you need is in here. 180 BPM and euphoric, what else is there to want on this rainy Sunday? If you have been to a rave and you want to continue riding the rave buzz, let me show you the tracklist, and get you all excited. Let the endorphin flow into your system again, and when you are ready, crank up the volume! HiroHiro - Never Let It Go O1RA - Everything BOUNC3 - 2 B Cool Technikore & Weaver - DIYA (Died In Your Arms) Apollo & Ben Nicky - Dance (Technikore Extended Remix) Joey Riot, Technikore & Suae - Let Me Hear You Roar JTS & Technikore - Meet Her At The Love Parade Technikore, Ben Nicky & Karra - Never Knew Weaver & Joey Riot - This Is A FKN Banger Alaguan - Bloody No1 Weaver & JTS - Krunk Life (AK47 Extended Remix) Darren Tyler - Strange People (Temporary Glitch Mix) DJ Gollum & Empyre One - The Bad Touch 2k20 (Outforce Extended Remix) DJ Frankz & Stu Bingham - Sound Of Da Police Faze2 - Bop It Al Storm & Rob IYF - Rush Thrush Al Storm & Rob IYF - Bitter, Sweet & Slightly Salted Darren Styles & Ashley Wallbridge feat Gavin Beach - All My Life It is nice to see a variety of artists in this mix. Obviously the big names I know, but there's also a few I do not. And it's good that they get the same spotlight as the well known and established artists. And the good thing is that Delite's selected records all flow in nicely and are all balanced. It is nice to hear that the happiness is still alive and kicking in the Hardcore scene. A bit of Powerstomp here and there too (do people still appreciate it?), a bit of Hardstyle influence as well, but mainly the UK Hardcore remains true to the happiness. I felt delighted throughout the mix. Some great tracks in here, especially 'DIYA' and 'Never Let Go' and 'Krunk Life'. Good selection by DJ Delite. Sadly I have to say that 'The Bad Touch' is in here, and I really detest the Bloodhound Gang for making this record. The vocals are piss wet, and really annoying. One of the worst records ever made, and therefore I cannot give this mix 5 out of 5 sadly. Sorry Delite. If you want to maintain the Saturday night buzz, jump on this mix right now, and let Delite take you into the early hours of Monday, when 'normal' life resumes.... - New "Early Sound" Hardcore (#18) (2021)
It's Friday then, it's Saturday, Sunday, what? All jokes aside, the weekend has finally arrived, and it's time to start the weekend with a bang! A proper BANG! You all know how much I love Hardcore music, especially the early sound, but today it's a bit of old and new. Why, you might ask? Well, it is a mix filled with early sounding Hardcore tracks, made only recently! Only a handful of producers dare to try and make Early Hardcore in the present day, and pull it off. And it's good to hear that there are people out there who appreciate and keep the sound alive! I wasn't expecting to find this mix, and when I went to have a look on Soundcloud, someone reposted it, and I quickly jump on it. The mix was made by GMD, who's made a few more mixes, which I've favourited (mainly Rotterdam Terror Corps mixes), but I wanted to share this one with you, as we are all aware of RTC can do, and which records they have released. I believe that these 'new' Early Hardcore producers should deserve the same stage as the new producers. Not sure who GMD is, and what their background is, but the mix is really exciting for me. A good kickstart for the weekend, if you love your early Hardcore. Those who go out partying, make sure you check out this mix, it will certainly give you the boost you need. If it doesn't, what's wrong with you? Let me show you the tracklist. Worth checking out who's active in this 'new' Early Hardcore scene! Ilsa Gold - Elastico Formek - Biogen (Original Mix) GiZwO - Drop This Shit The Twins Artcore - Adrenalin Wicked XXX - Blow Your Whistle The Twins Artcore - Another Gabba Day Painbringer - Share Your Pain Wicked XXX - Different NRG Amon-Ra - Face Your Opponent Arjuna - Back Once Again DJ Kozmo - Kontroller Lenz - Eat's Cells Lenz - Your Demon Reeza - A New World Rodox Trading - Come On Redlock - Heavy Groove Reeza & Peckerhead - Redefined Hardcore Undunn - Overload This is really cool. Early Hardcore sound made in 2021! I only recognise a handful of artists. But mixes like this one is not just about the music, but also recognition of those making the music. It spreads their names around, and get more acknowledgment. They need to have a bigger stage, so underrated. The Early sound remains so dope. I know a lot of early Hardcore anthems, because I lived during those wonderful years, and these newer anthems do fit in nicely. Obviously they have been made in the 20s and have been slightly altered to fit the time frame, but the majority of the anthems have got that distinctive sound, that unique early Hardcore sound we all love. GMD has made a nice mix, which you can download too. It's full of epic anthems, which would suit well back in the 90s. If they were released back then, they would have been on the biggest compilations and played at the biggest raves out there. I really love the vibe and the atmosphere. I feel like a teenager again, raving the night away. It is nice that the style which 'died' back in 1999 is still kept alive. We need more producers to keep this epic style alive. Early.... new or old... worth saving. - Epified Session.09 (2021)
It's Wednesday everyone, and it's been a long week. Don't know exactly why, but it has been long. It seems like this week isn't moving forward at all. Maybe it's the stress, maybe it's other things, but one things for sure: my mind isn't in the right place. And the doctor prescribed me my medication: music. Not aggressive music but nice and mellow music. Relaxing stuff, that eases my mind. Guess what? I've found the perfect mix to wind down to. A mix by Uneven. This Bristol based DJ uploaded the Epified mix roughly a month ago, and it's already had great feedback. Am I going to join the positive feedback train or am I to burn down the train? You all know me, I cannot be negative. A mix is a mix. And there's always a lot of effort put into it. So this mix is no exception. Well, the exception being that it's filled with Drum & Bass tunes. All tunes made by artists I do not know of. All unknowns, but they won't be, after this review. Uneven.'s mix is so interesting, I will do my research after this mix, and will find more stuff to listen to by these producers. And also more stuff by Uneven. First and foremost, credit for the awesome picture. I really like it when it's a cool picture, and this one is as cool as you can get it, on this miserable and dreary Wednesday. But the picture isn't what most of you lot are interested in. You are here for the music, right? Well, as mentioned before, I'm not familiar with Uneven. and the tracks he used for this mix. So this is going to be interesting. But secretly I already know I'm going to like this mix a lot, as I've already pressed play multiple times. Hopefully you will feel the same way. after.... But that's OK, no big deal. Let the music speak for itself instead of who's responsible for each track and what the names are of the songs. There are a few missing though, so if you want to have fun, why not fill in the blanks for me? Leave a comment below if you know the missing or ID-less songs.... Well, let's talk about the 67 minute long mix. It's a blessing in disguise! If you are familiar with Uneven. and his music, this won't come as a surprise, but you wouldn't think 'this is going to be a wicked mix' just by looking at the mix title. But trust me, you've done the right thing here: you are reading this, so you are a few seconds away from pressing play. It's certainly something you need to do, as this mix hasn't ruined my day. On the contrary, it has made my day! Fucking early to mid 90s Drum and Bass vibes coming trhough my speakers right now, and I'm feeling happy as Larry. Obviously made to fit the 2021s, but trust me: the beats, bass, and melody will hit you hard as hell. The mix is tight, and the tracks are awesome. Really went through 67 minutes of pure bliss. No negative feedback at all. Was really a pleasant journey. And Uneven. I shall follow you from now on. Really enjoyed this mix, from the first to the last second. DJ: Uneven. - The Michael Mansion Collaborations & Remixes Mix (2021)
I can't remember the exact date, but I do remember what I was listening to, the first time I was introduced into the wonderful musical capabilities of Michael Mansion: it was during a Next Generation Records Podcast when I discovered this producer. And if I remember correctly, I even know which record it was I first heard: 'Under My Window', remixed by Fracus & Darwin. That must be at least 10+ years ago, am I right? The strange thing is, that I know nothing about Michael Mansion! Yes, I am aware it's a producer who's records have been remixed by multiple artists, and that he's collaborated with a few too. One thing I do know, is that Michael Mansion loves vocalists. There we go, here's my limited knowledge exposed. I do apologise if you feel I should know more, but hey ho, I'm not fucking Wikipedia. If you are Michael Mansion or know a lot about him, leave a comment below. You can leave his whole autobiography below, if you are happy to share that. Let's focus on today's mix, and if you haven't guessed it yet, it's all focussed around Michael Mansion and his discography. But before I stumbled across this mix, it was actually Dy5on's appreciation mix made by M@rt!n-J that got me feeling the Michael Mansion vibes again. So a quick search and there we go. The mix was made by Music I Love. I'm guessing it's not a DJ name but more the channels name, right? So which songs were used for this mix? Are you ready for the tracklist? Fracus & Darwin vs Michael Mansion - U & Me Michael Mansion - Another Notch (Dy5on Remix) Technikore & GTS vs Michael Mansion - Light Show Fracus & Darwin vs Michael Mansion - Crazy For Your Love (Music I Love DJ Edit) Michael Mansion - Under My Window (Fracus & Darwin Remix) Michael Mansion vs Rob IYF & Al Storm - Rise Above Fracus & Darwin vs Michael Mansion - My Star Nu Foundation vs Michael Mansion - Waiting Fracus & Darwin & Michael Mansion - Remember The Reason Michael Mansion - Be Your Guide (Fracus & Darwin Remix) Fracus & Darwin vs Michael Mansion - Loved Again Michael Mansion - Let Me In (Fracus & Darwin's BTR Remix) Rob IYF vs Michael Mansion - Celebrate Fracus & Darwin vs Michael Mansion - Don't Let Me Go Fracus & Darwin vs Michael Mansion - Mine All Night Michael Mansion - Places We Go Through (Fracus Remix) Michael Mansion - There 4 Me (DJ Kurt Remix) So if you were hoping to find a mix today with only Michael Mansion songs, don't look no further. This is jam packed with only Michael Mansion songs, so you should feel like a happy bunny. You must be excited, yes? If the tracklist doesn't do it for you yet, maybe just press play and let the music speak for itself. The music is just superb. If you love euphoric and cheerful UK Hardcore, this mix is just perfect for you. It will certainly enlighten your day and you mood. And if you have been following the UK Hardcore scene for a long time, it will take you back in time, to roughly 10-15 years ago. The sound is just so damn cool. No negative feedback, in my opinion. The mix is dope, and the records too. Only love and appreciation for the mix made by Music I Love. And of course also for Michael Mansion. There are two tracks that just stand out for me, which are 'Under My Window' and 'Let Me In'. These are the best of the best. And it captures a time when HU were dominating the charts with their releases. Just love these two songs. Check it out now. Let Michael Mansion dominate your weekend! - 'Dy5on' (Electrifying) [Mixed By M@rt!n-J] (2021)
Sometimes you find mixes online, and you know nothing about the artist. This is one of those mixes. You might be thinking this is all about Dyson hoovers, but you are wrong. I think this mix is much more enjoyable, more pleasant, compared to hoovering, right? Let's focus on today's mix, and the artist behind the songs, and the man behind the mix. You've all seen his name before, and he's a regular to this website, a loyal contributor. Don't know how he finds the time to keep making and uploading mixes, but he's non stop busy. A true busy bee, but a music entrepreneur. But this mix isn't about M@rt!n-J, but about Dy5on. I seriously know nothing about this producer, but he/she has been a busy bee too, and has been working with Fracus and Darwin every so often, according to his/her Bandcamp page. That's all I know. But what I do know is that this producer has got a knack for making UK Hardcore in the same style as Fracus and Darwin. Hell, he makes it as good as them. There, I've said it. I went into this mix blindfolded, but came out happy and excited to search for more. I'll do that after this review, but if you are looking for something that touches the earlier HU sound, look no further: Dy5on ticks all the boxes, and has got you covered. UK Happy Hardcore, very melodic, and euphoric. I instantaneously feel 10 years younger, and back home, in NL. That's where I discovered HU and their artist roster. If you have not heard of Dy5on before but you are a fan of HU and UK Hardcore, sit back, and enjoy this mix. Obviously it has been mixed beautifully by M@rt!n-J, but you knew that already. He always delivers. He's like the Deliveroo driver for the UK Hardcore scene. And his deliveries are always flaming HOT! Michael Mansion - Another Notch (Dy5on Remix) Dy5on & Darwin - Lights In The Sky Darwin & Dy5on - The Principles (Of P.L.U.R.) Dy5on - B The 1 (Darwin Remix) Darwin - Count To 10 (Dy5on Remix) Darwin & Dy5on feat Bea Aria - You Are Still The One Fracus & Darwin vs Michael Mansion - Comin' Down 2016 (Dy5on Remix) Michael Mansion - Do You Love Me (Dy5on Remix) Dy5on - On My Own Dy5on & DBL feat Paige Olivia - Up In Smoke Dy5on & Fracus feat Rhistylee - Forever Darwin & Dy5on - Grab Ya! (Dub Mix) Darwin & Dy5on feat Dayane Kin - I Found Peace Fracus & Darwin vs Dy5on feat Silver Angelina - In A Good Way (Dy5on Remix) Dy5on feat Andy L - Losing Myself How the hell have I not heard of this producer before, or never paid enough attention? After listening to this mix I'm fully in awe of this mix and each single song! What a fantastic producer, and how he/she has capture a sound so awesome, it should be more on the foreground of the UK Hardcore scene! We need more of this 'happier' UK Hardcore. This is truly wicked music, and has made my day even better! It's the melodic stuff that does it for me. The earlier Fracus & Darwin sound, right? I am certainly not the only one out there that appreciates it. But it's good that it's still alive and kicking, and tweaked to still sound fresh, new, and unique in a way. Dy5on has worked with a few wicked producers, and of course they are the mighty Fracus & Darwin, but also with vocalists, which I've not heard of, but also are impressed with. And I can sense that there's an obsession with Michael Mansion. Oh, I do always laugh about Michael Mansion and think of the Next Generation podcast, where Brisk or Fracus made a joke, but I can't remember what it was. Shit memory. But yeah, there's a few records by Michael Mansion, but a lot of originals. A wide variety for those looking for something cool and refreshing. I am really happy about the discovery of this mix. My UK Hardcore heart has been brought back to life again, and wants to go back in time now. And rediscover the early HU sound, and discover more Dy5on. No, not the fucking hoovers, but this awesome producer. The producer that loves euphoric and melodic UK Hardcore anthems. I am really impressed, happy, and in awe. I should go out more, and discover more artists I've overlooked or not even known of. This is a truly ace producer, and knows how to make excellent music. And let's not forget that Dy5on made a UK Hardcore version of Celine Dion's Deadpool song. Come on, that's just fucking ace! This mix can only get 5 out of 5, because it deserves it. This has put a smile on my face, and it won't leave me for at least the next week or so. - New Era: UK Hardcore (2021)
Today I've got a mix for you UK Hardcore fanatics. Or maybe the Dubcore generation. Or whatever you would like to call the style released around the time Club X-Treme Hardcore 8 was released. Can't even remember when it did hit the stores? Let me do a quick Google search......2012! That's nearly 10 years ago. Unfuckingbelievable! That went by quicker than expected. I still listen to the album every so often, and really like the sound coming out of the scene. And so does Kyle, who made this mix for us. Uploaded 3 days ago, it's fresh as a daisy. And it's got the big bangers from 2012! A nice welcome, a nice break from the standard music I've been hearing all day. I remember writing a review about CXH8 and I really loved the album. The scene was divided, and some did loath it with a passion. I didn't, and hearing the mix made by Kyle makes me kind of sad. It was so damn cool. And hell, it's even better than the present day UK Hardcore. There, I've said it, fight me. All jokes aside, you might disagree or agree, that's up to you, but what I can tell you for sure is that me raving back in the early 10s was superb! The music was just perfect for me, and it was exactly what I needed to hear to get me going on the dancefloor. Hell, I remember a label being so proactive about this new sound. I forgot the name of it, but I think it was run by Breeze and Styles? Does anyone know the name? Anyway, which anthems am I talking about, which songs did Kyle use for his mix? Well, these: Darren Styles, Prospect & Becci - Lose Yourself Breeze & Chris Unknown - R3tro Anon - Byrne Petruccio & Modulate feat Marie Louise - Escape Herd & Fitz feat Abigail Bailey - I Just Can't Get Enough (Re-Con & Squad-E Remix) Darren Styles & Dougal - Don't Give Up Dougal & Gammer vs Klubfiller - Do What You Wanna Do Darren Styles & Gammer - Paranoia Gareth Emery feat Christina Novelli - Concrete Angel (Darren Styles & Chris Unknown Remix) Scott Brown - Follow Me Gamridye - Reezus Black & White - The Awakening Oxygen feat Andrea Britton - Am I On Your Mind (Darren Styles & Re-Con Remix) Ayah Marar - The Raver (Darren Styles Remix) Darren Styles & Modulate - To The Stars Gammer & Klubfiller - Future Fuzz Alex Bassjunkie & Riche - How Cold Scott Brown - Promise This sound is so dope. Really, it is. Maybe underrated, but highly appreciated! Now that's a quote you can use. Oh, I just remembered the name of the label. Wasn't it Futureworld? Back to this mix. Kyle's previous mix got a lot of praise, and even a retweet by the legendary Scottish DJ Scott Brown. His second mix get a lot of appraisal by myself, and those who've already listened to it. Really dope to go back roughly 10 years, and relive the glorious years again when UK Hardcore was everything to me, and constantly on my mind. I was still living in the Netherlands, but I made damn sure that everyone around me heard these anthems. Couldn't care less if they loved or hated it. A wicked selection of records. So many true dancefloor slammers from back in the day. Some I thought were cheesy, but they grew on me. I seriously love each and every record in this mix, and it was hard for me to choose my most favourite record, but I have to give all the credit to 'The Awakening' by Black & White, which is Al Storm, right? A dope mix, with a few tiny errors. But still nothing to dismiss this mix for. Huge tunes from 2012-ish, and still worth listening to. Go back in time, and thank Kyle for making this mix. Close your eyes, and remember those glorious years... especially when people were bashing CXH8/9... don't you just miss these years? If I do have to criticise something, it's the size of the mix. 770 MB??? - Early Hardcore | Strictly BZRK Records | Mix 271 (2021)
Can't have a weekend without Hardcore music, am I right? And today isn't an exception: every weekend it's Hardcore time. Today's mix is presented by Raving Madness, and contains records from the mighty label BZRK Records, which is run by the legendary DJ Buzz Fuzz. You might have seen or heard his name before. He's well known to the oldskool legends, the oldskool lovers. He has made a shit ton of wicked records over the years, and his label released a lot of those too. In this 27 minute long mix you get ta few of the finest records released on BZRK, all mixed together tightly. What else is there to wish for on this Saturday, right? It is hard to keep up which alias falls under the Buzz Fuzz brand. He's had a few over the years, like Bertocucci Feranzano (never knew that Nina Feranzano was The Prophet!), Bigguz Dickuzz, Tony Salmonella, Pino D'Ambini, and many more. And you can hear a few records made by these aliases in this mix, and a few more. This mix immediately takes me back to my youth, when BZRK records released these anthems, and they found their way onto many compilations. But I fully understand why these were everywhere: these tracks were (and still are) the bomb! An underrated label perhaps? You don't see many BZRK dedication mixes. The label deserves so much more credit for what they have released, and thankfully Raving Madness did the label justice. A short but very interesting and entertaining mix. But, you might wonder, which records are in this mix? These are the ones selected and mixed by Raving Madness: Nina Feranzano & Buzz Fuzz - Keep It Up (Original Mix) Bertocucci Feranzano - Sax B4 Dinner Public Domain - In The House (Buzz Fuzz Mix) Public Domain - Rock This Joint (Arjuna Mix) Bertocucci Feranzano & Tony Salmonelli - Class Axion - Take 2 Raving Madness & Skill Behaviour - Dreams Tony Salmonelli - Class Axion Take 1 E-Rick &Tactic - Wanna Dance Tony Salmonelli - Once Again (Original Mix) Ramirez - Apocalixis (Buzzy Goes BZRK Mix) Dr. Phil Omanski - BZRK Feelings (Toni Salmonelli Mix) Wasting Program - Bring That Shit Back (Yves Remix) Pino D'Ambini - Up & Down - Ballz (Buzzy Goes BZRK Mix) DJ Promo - Bring It Raw These are classics. Without a shadow of a doubt. Fight me in the comments if you do not think these are classics. These records shaped the genre for good. They were as fresh as the day they were released, and maintain their strength, many years after them being released. Yes, they might have a 90s vibe surrounding it, but that vibe will never die. Like Hardcore, it never dies. The mix is short, sweet, and powerful. On one hand I hate the length of this mix, because it's too damn short, but on the other hand, you get everything you need in 27 minutes. 14 extremely fine Hardcore anthems. So I shouldn't moan about the length, because it's not all about the length, it's about the punch And this mix packs a punch, trust me. All jokes aside, this is a wicked mix. Really enjoyed it. And am I wrong in asking if the 6th record in this mix is made by the maker of this mix too? A tad confused, but hopefully you can help me out. Too many records to choose from. They are all wicked. Solid as a rock. But 'Up & Down - Ballz' is just one memorable anthem. Probably the finest released on BZRK records. Closely followed by 'Apocalixis'. Also a wicked anthem. Get your Hardcore fix, and play this mix right now! - 1997 Garage Classics - Speed & House Mix (2012)
It's Saturday, and I'm feeling great. You might be wondering why? Well, a) I've managed to get some fuel, so that's nice. And b) I've got a wicked mix for you all. A UK Garage mix. Sometimes you wake up and want to please your ears with something nice, and today's mix just fits in beautifully. It's been online for some time, in all honesty, and you might have seen this fly by you on Soundcloud. Heck, you might have even played this out loud, who knows? But what I can say to all that have or haven't seen this mix before: check it out! Don't let the fuel shortage or any other malarky ruin your weekend. Sit back, relax, and enjoy! And how are you feeling at the moment? Ready for it? Ready for the UKG music to come flying through your speakers, right toward you? The beats, bass, and melody, for roughly 80 minutes long. I was ready when I woke up, and still ready for it. Once those familiar baselines are coming through your speakers, And once you realise that the majority of these tunes were released 24-25 years ago, it does make you wonder where the time has gone to, right? These anthems sound as fresh as when they were released, and still have the potential to demolish a dancefloor. It still baffles me that time does fly by too damn quickly. So damn fast. But as much as we hate it, one thing does stand out: the music from the 90s still remains highly enjoyable. Not outdated or anything like that. Fresh and uplifting, even in 2021. So, Chris Renegade made this mix, but which tracks did he use 9 years ago? Well, these: MJ Cole - Sincere (Vocal Mix) Smokin' Beats feat Lynn Eden - Dreams (Vocal Mix) Double 99 - Ripgroove (Original Mix) George Morel - Let's Groove (Original Instrumental) Astro Trax Team feat Shola Phillips - The Energy (Feel The Vibe) Bump & Flex - Long Time Coming (Original Mix) Kele Le Roc - My Love (10° Below Vocal Mix) Jhelisa - Friendly Pressure (From Midnight Mix) Danny J Lewis - Spend The Night (H-Mans Groove Dub) Indo - Are You Sleeping (Todd Edwards Mix) Sounds Of One - As I Am (Todd Edwards Mix) New Horizons - Find The Path (Sweet Release Mix) TJR - Just Gets Better (TJR Dub Mix) Scott Garcia & MC Styles - It's A London Thing (London Edit) Nu Birth feat Janette Sewell - Anytime (Original Mix) Harddrive - Deep Inside (MAW Extended Mix) Sunship - Check 1,2? (Original Mix) Y-Tribe - Baby You Bring Me Up (Kensal Rise Speed Mix) Ruff Driverz - Don't Stop (Deeper Mix) Reach & Spin - Hyper! (Instrumental Mix) Tori Amos - Professional Widow (Armand's Star Trunk Funkin' Mix) Sandy B - Make The World Go Round (Deep Dish Vocal Mix) Sneaker Pimps - Spin Spin Sugar (Armand's Dark Garage Mix) Chris Renegade's selection contains some really big anthems. I'm not 100% familiar with most names, but the tracks are well known. Come on, like you knew the name behind one of the biggest anthems of all time 'It's A London Thing'? We all know the song and the lyrics (duh), but who is responsible, I really didn't know the artist name, or who the MC was. Or am I just being an idiot? I really enjoyed this mix. It's nice, calm, relaxing, and yet powerful enough to get your body moving. You don't want to sit still, you want to start dancing. Thankfully the UK is back on track with COVID restrictions (not being any present at all), so when people want to have a great time, you can. If you do decide to rave, please rave safe! The tunes are carefully selected and beautifully mixed together. I've got no negative feedback. The only thing I don't like about this mix, is the last record. Boy, I hate this song. Not what I wanted to hear, but hey ho, who cares? I just pressed 'play again' on this mix, and started at the beginning again. I just don't like 'Spin Spin Sugar'. But thankfully it doesn't even get played whatsoever. But just the acknowledgment of this track being used gives me goosebumps. The best track? Come on, that has to be 'Sincere' by MJ Cole. All time UKG classic! All in all a wicked mix. Thanks Chris for this wicked mix! 24 years ago these tracks were released. Fuckin' hell, where have those years gone to? - Your Favourite Trance Classics - Part Two (2021)
Today is Thursday. Maybe we can call a Thursday International Trance day? Why, you might be wondering? Well, have I got a wicked Trance mix for you all to listen to. It all depends on you loving Trance music. If you do not, well, this isn't the place for you to visit today, right? But for those who love the Trance classics and have at least 19867972348827 Trance CD compilations in their possession, today's mix will rightly so suit your needs. Needs you didn't even know you had! But let me tell you, you need more Trance music. And so do I. I saw this Soundcloud channel, run by Marnix Mulder, and it's really filled with Trance mixes. I saw a few I really wanted to listen to, and I did, but the one I'm sharing with you all today has got more classics that were ace to me when I was younger, the classics that touched my soul. And you all know how emotional I can get from listening to music. Marnix's mix is packed with the finest Trance anthems money could buy back in the early days. A friend of Marnix asked him if he could do a mix with his favourite Trance classics in it, and the end result is what you are about to listen to. A nice 2 hour long mix with seriously impressive anthems. Most of them you already know, but you are grateful to be reminded of these anthems again. It's never a nuisance to hear them again. Trance has got that feeling surrounding it: it never ever becomes dull or non interesting. Trance is timeless. Which records did he select for this mix? Which were Rich Stern's favourite tracks? Well, these: George Acosta - Emotions (Intro) RAH - Seven (Airbase Mix) Delerium feat Jael - After All (Svenson & Gielen Remix) Kansai - Rococco Digger - Church Of Ra Rank 1 - Airwave (Rank 1 vs Dutchforce Remix) Sonic Inc. - The Taste Of Summer (Fire & Ice Vital Mix) Myon & Shane 54 - Ibiza Sunrise (Original Mix) Push - The Legacy DJ Albert - 4G Angel Of Death - Angel Of Death (Tracid Mix) Gouryella - Ligaya (Original Instrumental Mix) Airbase - Tangerine Solarstone - Seven Cities (Atlantis Mix) Cygnus X - Superstring (Rank 1 Remix) Armin van Buuren feat Juistine Suissa - Burned With Desire (Rising Star Remix) Lange - I Believe (Original Mix) Gouryella - Tenshi (Original Mix) Katcha - Touched By God (Alfie Conn Remix) Masters & Nickson - Out There (Daniel Kandi Bangin' Mix) System F - Out Of The Blue Lost Witness feat Tiff Lacey - Love Again (Classic Airbase Mix) The Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia (Ferry Corsten Mix) The Digital Blonde - Electra Will you look at this gorgeous looking tracklist! This is beautiful. Marnix has mixed some damn fine records together in a 2 hour long mix. If this doesn't tickle you at all, you aren't into Trance. And if that's the case, do 1, hop on, jog on. I remember when I was younger, much younger, I was fully into Trance music. Hardcore music died down, and I needed something to replace it. Voila, Trance music it was. And it became such an important style to me, still to this day it is among the top three best styles out there, for me personally. And gosh darnit, have I partied a lot during the Millennium years! Best party being of course Sensation White 2002. I am going off topic now. Let's bring it back to this mix. Marnix (and Rich) have put this mix together, and the result is a beautiful mix. 2 hours of pure pleasure. Come on, how can you not love these records selected, eh? The big beasts are in here. Rank 1, Push, Gouryella, System F, Cygnus X, and more. Those are the Trance names that dominated my youth. I can only praise this mix. And praise the fact that DJ Albert's '4G' is in it. Completely forgot it even existed! What a brilliant anthem this is. If you want to hear something from the Millennium years, this track captures the dance scene beautifully. Best track of this mix, for sure. Check this mix out, and all the others Marnix has got to offer. Maybe soon I'll review the first instalment of this mix series. But until then, enjoy this mix! - Bartjeng - VWAB Warm Up Mix (2018)
If you aren't Dutch or Flemish, you might not know the phrase on the image above. Let me explain it to you: Vroeger Was Alles Beter means Back In The Day Everything Was Better. It looks like one of those phrases you find in a toilet, on a tile. I know that in The Netherlands we've got such a thing, a tile with a good, funny, or beautiful phrase on it. But it's not about a tile or the tile industry, but the older Hardstyle stuff. The stuff I fell in love with. The Millennium sounding Hardstyle. But you will be pleased to hear that we start off with some Euphoric Hardstyle, and end with some Hardcore anthems, also from the Millennium era. And that this mix was composed by Bartjeng. I cannot mention anything about the DJ or this mix, because I simply don't know anything about Bartjeng or VWAB. I'm guessing it could be an event promo mix? Answers on a postcard please. Or just leave a comment below. Again, this is one of those mixes shared on Soundcloud. I would not have found it otherwise. Stupid algorithm. But anyway, let's focus on the music. A lot, and I do mean a lot of euphoric anthems. You will feel like you are 10-20 years younger again the second you hear these songs. And Bartjeng has picked some excellent anthems. Some of these tracks are sadly forgotten, but that's why it's good to hear them in a mix focussed on the earlier stuff. Flashback time, eh? The tracklist, I'm guessing you want to see it, right? D-Block & S-Te-Fan - War Coz I'm Hard The Pitcher - Our Core Noisecontrollers - Interview Toneshifterz - We Are The Future Wasted Penguinz - Resistance The Pitcher - Take Me Higher D-Block & S-Te-Fan - The Nature Of Our Mind (Qlimax Anthem 2009) The Pitcher - Mad Killer w/ Zatox - Irreplaceable Noisecontrollers & Digital Punk - Blue Horizon Noisecontrollers & Toneshifterz - Empire Of The Sun Zany & The Pitcher - Guardian Angel The Pitcher feat Zany & DV8 - Fuck Hardstyle Zatox - Vintage B-Front & Bass Modulators -Quarantine Low-E & Alter Egosz - Vendetta Zatox meets The Rebels - Choirs Frontliner - Save.Exit.Planet (In Qontrol Anthem 2010) Zatox & Ran-D - Indoctrination Ran-D & Adaro - My Name Is Hardstyle Noisecontrollers - Bassleader Anthem 2008 Zatox - Storm3000 Solution & The I's - Mistress The Pitcher & B-Front - Noctus Noa Solutio & The I's - 2.17 E-Force & Luna - Masterclass Kasparov feat Nikkita - Part Of The Project Ophidian & Ruffneck - So Many Sacrifices Lenny Dee - Forgotten Moments (Ophidian Remix) Tha Playah - Why So Serious Good looking tracklist right? It does look great. But it also makes me realise that time is going too fast, and I do miss this earlier sound. Be it the Hardstyle or Hardcore sound. It was the sound I grew up with. This new Uptempo stuff is just not for me (yet). I still need to get used to it. I'm just getting older. Fuck. Don't you just love the happiness surrounding these anthems? They were so cheerful and happy. Just what we wanted to hear. It got us all dancing on the dancefloor, on the stage, or even on tables and speakers. We were craving for so much more, and Hardstyle was just what we needed. And the producers that were big 10-20 years ago are still in the scene, demolishing speakers all over the world. Don't believe me? Noisecontrollers, Zatox, Ran-D, Zany, Frontliner, and more. The mix is really good. It has some cross fading errors, but the generic gist behind it is quite good. It has taken me three days to review this mix, because I kept listening to it over and over, but now it's time to share this with you all. A nice and solid track list, and a good mix. Worth checking out, reminiscing on a time long gone. Best record? 'Forgotten Moments' by Lenny Dee, remixed by Ophidian, that's a beast But for me 'Resistance' by Wasted Penguinz is still a solid dancefloor smasher. - Reverze Flashback 2021 - Pat B
The world is coming back to normality, as much as possible. Parties are happening here in the UK again, and it turns out in Belgium too. Only a handful of days ago there was an event happening which you might have heard of: it's called Reverze, Wake Of The Warrior. With a seriously impressive line-up it's no wonder it got sold out. And also because of the fact that people are desperate to party again, and why not start at Belgium's biggest indoor party, right? Let me name a few artists who played there, you might have heard of them: Mark With A K, Sound Rush, Da Tweekaz, Sub Zero Project, Ran-D, D-Sturb, Dr. Peacock, Aftershock, Devin Wild, B-Front, Vertile, N-Vitral, Partyraiser, and more were playing there. An unbelievably good looking line-up, and one of the DJs who I didn't mention, was responsible for the Flashback set: Pat B. He's played at Reverze before, so he knows exactly what to play to get the crowd hyped up. And with the 2021 edition of Reverze he made sure that the crowd screamed as loud as they could! He only had 45 minutes to play, but within those precious minutes he entertained the Belgian crowd to the max. The set is filled with retro and new Jumpstyle records, and hearing those retro Jumpstyle records, a spark inside of me ignited the Jumpstyle love that I still have. It is so damn cool to find Jumpstyle sets and mixes on Soundcloud. It was a damn cool style, so underrated. But in 2021 we honour the style by letting Pat B play the finest records out there. 45 minutes of pure eargasms. And classics, of course. So what's in store? Well, these records: Pat B - The Police Pat B - No Good 2021 DP - Essorage Qatja S - Geen Haar Beter DJ Mystery - Hardskool Dutch Disorder - Heroine (Pat B Remix) Ruthless - What Ya Got Noizer & Dr. Paddo - Keep On Jumping Ard & Jorn - 16 (Pat B Remix) DJ Mystery - Punani (Pat B Remix) Vek feat Wilr - GO Robert Armani - Hit Hard (Pat B's Fake Drop Bitches Edit) DJ Fred & Arnold T - Delerium (DJ Francois Remix) Cherrymoon Traxx - Acid Dream (Pat B Remix) Pat B & Nowaxx - Army Of Hardcore (Bootleg) Cherrymoon Rob - Needle Interference (Playboyz Bootleg) Faithless - Insomnia (Pat B Remix) Pat B - Love Comes In Sweet Dreams DJ Youri - Fuck On Cocaine (Pat B Remix) Armani & Ghost - Airport (Ruthless Remix) Oxytraxx - Kinky (Face Down Ass Up) Jeff Mills - Changes Of Life (Q-ic Remix) DJ Francois - Mindcontroller DJ Yves & Chaps & Rolay - Devil's Fiction (Dr. Rude Remix) Boon-T - Lobotomyx (Never Alone) Dutch Movement - Da Pussy Syndrome The Sunclub - Fiesta (DJ Francois Bootleg) Pat B & The Rebel - 2005 Pat B - I Am The Lord Of The Organ Line Felix Project - On The Floor Cousins Inc - What's So Funny DJ Gio - Gods Of Hell DJ Rob - 1992 Is For You (DJ Francois Remix) Lethal MG - Youeternal (Ronald-V Remix) Coone - The Return (Ruthless Bootleg) Sato - The Riddler (DJ Francois Bootleg) Da Rick & The Rebel & Pat B - Zombie Cyberzone - Story Of Panik (Playboyz Bootleg) Totalition - Otherside G-Swatt - Gonna Be Da Beat Chicago Jaxx - Dirty Bitch Fenix - Dikke Vette Bassplaat Sektor 9 - Jump To The Rhythm Pat B - Ain't No Party 2021 K-Maze - The First Rebirth DJ Coone - Jumpstyle Vibes DJ Stone - Bass Generator (1,2 Stampuh Edit) Bad Boyz - Clap Ya Hands Mark With A K - Break DJ Danny vs Francky Kloeck - Gimme The Line (DJ Francois Rework) Pat B - Much Better Macarena Pat B - Somebody 2 Love (Bootleg) Pat B - 2004 (Dark-E Remix) Pat B - The Goodbye Song 1 & 2 You know that Pat B will deliver an awesome set, and this one isn't an exception. He does it again, and the set is really intoxicating. Going back in time has never felt so good. New and old, classics and future classics, all crammed in one 45 minute set. What else is there to wish for? The set is gorgeous. A lot of good feedback so far on Soundcloud and Youtube. People seem to love it. And I'm one of them. I played the mix yesterday on my headset while doing the garden, and at one stage, the music overtook my sense of humanity, and I started raving in the back garden. Rave like no one is watching, right? I had such a brilliant time, hearing these tunes coming through my speakers. Flawless, and highly entertaining. Yes, a few tracks aren't my favourite, but it's the general gist of this set: you can hear (and see, if you check the Youtube video) people screaming, shouting, and whistling. People are enjoying it a lot. This is what we've all been missing out on for 1 1/2 year. Time to get back on the dancefloor right? The biggest nuisance during this set is the MC. Not really needed. When do events realise that music can do the job on its own, and does not require someone who does not contribute a single thing to an already wicked set. Could have done without the MC. He could be a very nice chap, but he brings nothing to the table. A wicked set. If you like Jumpstyle and don't mind the MC, this is your set. Let Pat B take you back to the early years of this Millennium, and let's all jump the fuck up! - Our Wedding Music
The fourth of September 2021 was a magical day for us. After knowing and being together for roughly 13 years, it was time to tie the knot. We already had to postpone the wedding due to COVID (damn you COVID), but we decided to have the wedding on the 4th this year: we couldn't wait any longer. The wedding had to happen. The stress involved to get to this day is unbelievable, but we got there in the end. A small yet cosy wedding, with a few friends and family, and we all had a blast. We all look back and acknowledge that we had a smashing time. We all had a laugh and a giggle, and we can certainly keep our heads high: the wedding we had, was absolutely spot on. Suited us and the guests well. So why am I writing this blog? Well, because one part of the day was focussed on music: the reception. Oh, and also the actual ceremony. And the music during our breakfast (first meal as a couple). So basically music played an important part of our day. You might not believe it, but me and the wife are two opposites in regards to music. She does not understand my love and admiration for the harder styles, and I don't understand her music choices either. But when working from home we found music that suited the both of us, and we used that kind of music to play during our special day. Obviously it meant that we both had to sit down and discuss this, months before the wedding. The registrar office gave us a booklet with details on how long each section would be, during the ceremony. And from that perspective we build a list, fabricated one. One that suited us both. Not just one or the other: both of us. Simple things like this might be easily overlooked when planning a wedding, but seeing as I'm a music freak, I needed to have this covered. And so did she. So meticulous planning was required. We had everything planned to the t, and we were happy that the music for the ceremony and the breakfast was sufficient enough, and was music that linked us both together. Don't forget, we put a lot of effort in each section, it's not as easy as you might think it is. When opposites attract, wasn't that what that one song once said, it needs to meet in the middle? And I know for sure that the tracklist was perfect for the both of us. The funny thing was, that when the breakfast happened, people thought that most records were chosen by the wife, and not me! How dare they? It was a joint decision, in all honesty. Everyone who knows me, knows I love 'Techno' (I put Techno between brackets, because to them Hardcore, Hardstyle, Techno, Terror, Speedcore, etc, all falls under the same umbrella: Techno. And obviously it isn't), but I listen to so much more. But hey ho, at least they had something to talk about while stuffing their face with tomato soup, chicken and vegetables, and cheesecake, right? I thought it would be funny to share what kind of tracks we had selected during the most beautiful day of our lives. So it is divided into three sections: the wedding ceremony (with a short description on when it was played), the breakfast, and the reception. The reception list was mostly followed by the DJ (Mark Wells, in case you want to book that smart looking man in the image), with some few tweaks here and there. So, here we go: Wedding Ceremony Songs: LeAnn Rimes - How Do I Live (Entering Guests) Extreme - More Than Words (Entering Guests) Oleta Adams - Get Here (If You Can) (Entering Guests) Percy Sledge - When A Man Loves A Woman (Entering Guests) CloseIIYou - Baby Don't Go (Entering Guests) Billy Ocean - Suddenly (Entering Guests) Christina Perri - A Thousand Years (Walking Down The Aisle) Take That - A Million Love Songs (Signing) Beverly Craven - Promise Me (Signing) Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World (Signing) Queen - You're My Best Friend (Exit Song) Breakfast Music: Shanice - I Love Your Smile George Michael & Elton John - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me Mr. Oizo - Flat Beat SWA - Sweet Like Chocolate Daft Punk - Around The World Queen - Crazy Little Thing Called Locve Lighthouse Family - High Vanessa Carlton - Thousand Miles Honeyz - Finally Found Gabrielle - Dreams James Morrison - You Give Me Something Michael Jackson - You Rock My World Jennifer Page - Crush Sixpence Non The Richer - Kiss Me Emma Bunton - What I Am Damage - Forever McFly - All About You George Michael - Amazing The Real Things - You To Me Are Everything Michael Buble - Home Fat Larry's Band - Zoom Luther Vandross - So Amazing Richard Marx - Right Here Waiting The Temptations - My Girl Linda Ronstadt & Aaron Neville - Don't Know Much Berlin - Take My Breathe Away The Spinners - Working My Way Back To You Dirty Dancing - Time Of My Life Terence Trent D'Arby - Sign Your Name Celine Dion - The Power Of Love First Dance Song: Michael Buble - Everything Reception Music: Guus Meeuwis - Kedeng Kedeng Arie Ribbens - Polonaise Hollandaise Des'ree - Life The Soca Boys - Follow The Leader Lou Bega - Mambo No. 5 Jermaine Stewart - We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off Spice Girls - Stop Hansom - Mmmbop Ricky Martin - Living La Vida Loca Gina G - Oh Ah Steps - Tragedy Ozone - Dragonstea Din Tei Redneck - Cotton Eye Joe Los Del Rio - Macarena Livin' Joy - Dreamer Shamen - Ebeneezer Goode 2Unlimited - No Limit Scooter - How Much Is The Fish? Backstreet Boys - We've Got It Going On Five - Everybody Get Up B-Witched - C'est La Vie The Killers - Mr. Brightside East17 - Alright Michael Buble - Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) PJ & Duncan - Let's Get Ready To Rumble Mis-Teeq - All I Want Dolly Parton & Kenny Rodgers - Islands In The Stream Craig David & Artful Dodger - Rewind Will Smith - Nod Your Head Daniel Bedingfield - Gotta Get Thru This S Club 7 - Reach The B52s - Love Shack Shania Twain - I Feel Like A Woman Busted - Crashed The Wedding Marshall Masters - I Like It Loud WHAM! - Wham Rap Chic - Good Times Lionel Richie - Dancing On The Ceiling Madness - It Must Be Love Vertile - The New Normal Party Animals - Have You Ever Been Mellow? Technohead - I Wanna Be A Hippy (Flamman & Abraxas Remix) Last Dance: Simply Red - Holding Back The Years Now will you look at this? A proper tracklist, and entertaining for not just the happy couple, but also for all the guests. There were some small hiccups during the day in regards to the music during the ceremony, but all is forgiven: the day itself was memorable, and will be with us for the rest of our lives. A day so beautiful, we both felt blessed to have our closest and most dearest friends and family members near us. Each record has got a reason behind it. Could be because the song just captured our mood as a couple, or just because of the fact that the song was just a dancefloor smasher. But the ceremony songs were 'our' songs: no one else's songs, our songs. Fuck the rest. No one had any say in the matter, this was our day/evening/night. And during the ceremony, we wanted to hear the songs which were the closest to us both. What's your opinion about our list? Cheesy? Beautiful? Weird? Normal? Leave a comment down below, would be interesting to read your opinion. I do know we had a few quirky songs, like Michael Buble's Christmas song, and a few Happy Hardcore anthems, but come on, you were expecting it, right? And even thought it was just me dancing like a proper Dutch raver from the 90s (and the wife danced too), it was amazing! A laugh, a giggle, and many moments created which I shall cherish for the rest of my life. The DJ did play a few other tunes (and forgot to play a few), but I hold no grudge against him: he played everything we needed to hear. Especially when he played Usher's 'Yeah', and I pretended to be cool and tried to get some crowd interaction (which failed), and also started to take my clothes off (but thankfully got stopped after taking my waistcoat off). The conga was also a wicked one: the British among the guests were bemused by it, didn't really understand the Dutch lyrics, but joined anyway (it was 'Polonaise Hollandaise' by Arie Ribbens). A memorable day, engraved into my mind forever. A tracklist so good, it makes me smile whenever I think of it. And now I'm sharing it with you all. Because sharing is caring, right?
- The Outside Agency @ Estentorian Podcast 5 (29-8-2021)
If you talk about Industrial Hardcore, you will immediately talk about The Outside Agency. This Dutch DJ and producer duo have been on people's radar since the mid 90s. And they have capture a sound so beautifully, and created new sounds too. They have become known for their hard and rough records, and sets. Their history in the Hardcore scene is quite interesting and long, so if you want to know a bit more about The Outside Agency, you can Wikipedia them, and find some more background information and more release information. But let's focus on the now, the present day. And only a handful of days ago their podcast mix for the EstentorianPodcast series had been uploaded (2 days before my birthday, what a treat was that!). I am sadly not aware of this podcast series, or who/what is behind it, but it has already had a few wicked guns mixes in the last 7 months by artists such as DJ Execrate, Hard Infantry, Plague, Hellcreator, The Outside Agency, and only 2 days ago Akira's mix was dropped. So quite a good line up of podcasts so far, right? I do appreciate their music, and have been following them for a lot of years now, and it's nice to see a full on The Outside Agency mix with only their own records in it. If you have been a tad out of the loop in regards to their tunes, you have got a lot to catch up upon. And this mix could be a good reintroduction? And also have a wicked time, of course? You want to start off slow, and reach a speed previously never heard before? Let me show you the tracklist. You must have a craving for this tracklist, yes? The Outside Agency - DMT The Outside Agency & Ophidian - The Shadows The Outside Agency & Ophidian - Church Of The Silence The Outside Agency & Ophidian - The Silence The Outside Agency - The Machinery Of Acid (Acid Only Takeout) The Outside Agency - Submerger The Outside Agency & Deathmachine - Just Noise The Outside Agency - I Saw My Grave The Outside Agency & N-Vitral - The Ultimate Hunter Angerfist - The Perfect Fury (The Outside Agency Remix) The Outside Agency - The Legacy Of Cain The Outside Agency - Industrial Cooking Spray The Outside Agency - The Solution The Outside Agency - Cautionary Tale The Outside Agency - Primitive The Outside Agency & N-Vitral - Sam's Gospel The Outside Agency - More Primitive The Outside Agency - Centipedes & Sentinels The Outside Agency - Backpack Wisdom VIP The Outside Agency - The Kid With The Golden Axe The Outside Agency - The Flux Capacitor Nasenbluten - Airstrikes (The Outside Agency Remix) The Outside Agency - The Wandering Mind This is one splendid and superb looking tracklist, and the mix is as glorious as you want it to be. The Outside Agency might have created one of the most boring tracklist to type, but the actual records are fucking amazing. The start of this mix puts you right in the mood, and you are immediately submerged into the wonderful world of TOA. There are simply too many good records to choose from. I cannot pick just one. Obviously 'The Silence' is a good anthem to get the dance floors smashed to bits. But for me 'DMT' and 'The Wandering Mind' are the two finest of this mix. All the others maintain this darker and satanic sound (how else can you describe this, eh?). It is Industrial Hardcore at its finest. It is raw, rough, and ear bleedingly fantastic! Mixing wise this mix is superb. No errors whatsoever, but were you expecting errors? Nah, me neither. TOA do deliver top quality records and mixes, and this one is no exception. The only thing I can say is, make sure you check out this set, and follow EstentorianPodcast series on Soundcloud for more excellent mixes. A fucking good start of the weekend. Put the volume way up in the green (not in the red, are you mad?), and go nuts in your living room. Let TOA take you to the darker depths of hell and back! - Dont Fuck With a Ruffneck [Ruffneck Records Mix] (2020)
It is Wednesday, and for most people it's just another day. To me it's an extraordinary day: alone in a Premier Inn hotel near work, and I am sitting here, all alone. Nothing on television, bored stiff. I decided to fire up the laptop, and do something I love: blogging. And one of the most recent mixes I came across was a mix dedicated to one of the best labels of the 90s and early 2000s: Ruffneck Records. The mix was released roughly 1 year ago, and was made by Genetic. It was one of those mixes probably reposted by friends/followers on Soundcloud, otherwise I might not have found this at all. I love Ruffneck Records. A very iconic and distinctive label that took us all by surprise once it was created back in the 90s, and when we all heard a Ruffneck Records track for the first time, the Artcore sound just stuck with us all. Obviously the label was created by DJ Ruffneck himself, and there's a whole back story behind the label, which I'm not going to discuss today (why not listen to DJ Ruffneck's interview, I think it was ROAR that invited him? Very interesting interview). The label wasn't just a place for DJ Ruffneck to release his own tunes, but he released tunes made by well established names. The label became a huge success, and even to this day it has gained a huge cult following. It's an important factor in the Hardcore industry, and it's always nice to see dedicated mixes on Soundcloud/Mixcloud. It can be confusing by the way, to find out the aliases used by DJ Ruffneck. He has had so many over the years, you cannot tell if a mix contains records made by one person only, or by multiple. He was Juggernaut and Knightvision, also Lockjaw? I am still amazed by the amount of 'alter egos' created by DJ Ruffneck. Could be an interesting delve into the history and who's who? Many pages are filled with this kind of information. Let's focus on the tracklist, and see if I can persuade you to give this a go: D'Spyre - 5.31 Minutes To D'Spyre Myztic - To Da Rhythm Knightvision - Knight Of Visions Predator vs Wedlock - Roots And Culture Lockjaw - The Point Knightvision - Who Is It Paradox - What Is Wisdom Ectomorph - No Law Paradox - The Guillotine Predator vs Wedlock - Pump The Vibe Nitrogen - Bad Bwoy Myrmidon - No Choice Myztic - Photonic Style Knightvision - The Search For Mariuhana Juggernaut - LSD '97 (DJ Ruffneck Remix) Paradox - My DJ... Cutz Juggernaut - Don't Fuck With A Ruffneck Nosferatu - The Future Cybernators - Funky Tales Knightvision - Biomoid Nosferatu - Inspiration Vibes Doesn't this look tasty? Oh sweet Lord, flashbacks to the 90s have just occurred. Please take me back, right the fuck now! You just can't replicate this sound anymore, so unique and so 90s. Some try, and sometimes fail. Maybe it was also the mindset of the artists in the 90s that gave them the option to create these Hardcore anthems. Dancefloor smashers. If you haven't raved during the 90s with these tunes playing, have you lived? Tell me, have you? Genetic's mix is quite interesting, and very entertaining. A good selection of records. Can't fault him for selecting these anthems. A solid selection, and true Hardcore fanatics will love this mix. They are all masterpieces. You know them all, right? Some have been over and over, and maybe the true meaning behind them has been lost due to overkill, but why not lock yourself away from the world, put your headphones on, close your eyes, and let the Ruffneck sound fuck up your brain again? It is unbelievable to figure out that the tunes from the 90s are still as relevant today as they were back then. At the time no one thought it would surpass the 2000s, but we are now in 2021, and Hardcore is still alive and kicking, with some restrictions though (fuck you COVID). Hardcore is still alive and kicking because of labels and the music released on these labels, such as Ruffneck Records. The label is as important now as it ever was. It has shown the world that Artcore is still going on strong. And Genetic's dedication mix, as short as it might be, is a very entertaining one. Worth your time. Yes, it does have some slight mixing errors, but nothing major. Don't worry, the tunes will still come flying through your speakers, right into your eardrums, and mess up your mind! - Hardcore Randoms Mix (10 - 09 - 21)
Sorry for being quiet. I've been extremely quiet for roughly 2 weeks, but that's because I got married to the most gorgeous looking woman on the planet. So you can imagine that my mind was somewhere else, and wasn't focussed on reviewing. It's nice to take a break, but I'm back now. Back with a vengeance with a UK Hardcore mix. Don't hear them that often, but when they do appear on my timeline, I just have to jump on it immediately. A couple of days ago, DJ Alex Threat uploaded this 'Hardcore Randoms Mix', Is it random? Yes, kind of is. It is filled with the big UK Hardcore anthems, some absolute dancefloor smashers, and some forgotten dancefloor breakers. But all of these tunes stem from an era when I was fully in love with UK Hardcore. It was everything to me, and I was one of the few Dutch people who were enjoying it a lot. Alex just put this mix together on the 10th of this month, after a few beers, so it might not be as smooth as normal, but still enjoyable. But even with a few drinks in his system, he still picked an excellent group of records. Some so fucking good, I am sitting here with goosebumps! Wish we could enjoy this kind of UK Hardcore forever. He made me blow off the dust of my UK Hardcore collection, and now I'm fully into the Millennium UK Hardcore zone. But you obviously want to see the tracklist? If you don't and you just want to be surprised by whatever Alex decided to play, go ahead, skip the next bit, and just go down to the Soundcloud player..... He picked the best dancefloor smashers from a forgotten era, and crammed them in a 76 minute long mix. The result is an astonishing mix. You cannot imagine me sitting here, married, and with a smile on my face! I am so happy to hear these songs again. Yes, I do see a few UK Hardcore mixes here and there, but to hear these specific anthems, it's just a blessing. What's happened to this style? Why has the sound changed so much? Can't we go back to the glorious years? You can fight me in the comments, but I couldn't pick my most favourite one out of the 19 records, I've selected three songs, and if you agree or disagree, I couldn't give a shiny shite! 'The Rising' by Joey Riot vs Ron-E, 'Live Forever' by Technikore & JTS feat Alan Booth, and of course, probably the biggest underrated anthem of all time: 'Last Goodbye' by Darren Hotchkiss & Stu Infinity. Yes, he might have had a few drinks and it's not 100%, but it is certainly extremely enjoyable. It has left me bemused and bewildered, and wishing the old sound could come back. And that's all you need to know. Still a fucking banging mix! Worth your time! - Original Dutch Style (2021)
Bank Holiday is behind us, how did we all experience a long weekend, eh? It must have been very good, or extremely bad. The weather was atrocious, but hey ho, you can't have it all, eh? The weather might have been atrocious, but at least we've got music to get us through the day. And today is probably your second day at work, so you are hanging on for dear life, to get closer to the weekend. You need something to boost your confidence and morality, and I think I have found the perfect mix for you all. Of course you need to love Dutch Hardcore music. If not, you are buggered. As you all know, I am Dutch. Hence why this website is called 'TheCrazyDutchmansBlog'. And being Dutch gives me the advantage of liking Dutch Gabber a lot. The Dutch sound is what I grew up with, and not just the Dutch were good at making Hardcore, but today's mix is focussed on the Dutch sound. A distinctive sound so unique and so Dutch, you can tell it apart from other Hardcore sounds coming from countries like Italy, German, USA, and other countries. The secret algorithm behind Soundcloud made sure I wouldn't miss this mix. I came across it this morning, and I just had to give this a go. Dutch Gabber is just ace, especially when it's the mid 90s style. The DJ behind this mix, J.O.E., has done a marvellous job in using wicked songs to compose this mix. But you are curious now which songs they are, right? Here's the list. DJ Gizmo - The Beginning Of The End Da Hustlers - Time Limitations (Mister DJ Remix) Mister DJ - Freakin' It Chosen Few - Danica Sonicdriver vs Wicked-E - Excited DJ Vince vs Darkraver - Thunderground DJ Isaac - Damn Hardcore Zero Tolerance - Big Rhythm Cyclopede - Bad Motherfucker G-Town Madness - Silence Stingray - Floor Filler Warlock - Reality Is A Nightmare B.S.E. - Hard Attack Chosen Few - Name Of The DJ (Buzz Fuzz Remix) The Stunned Guys & DJ Paul - Confusion Exodus - Bust Da Beat Black Knight - What's Up Suckers Radical 2 React - Hardstreet Shit Chosen Few - The Break Party Animals - Sick S.O.B. The Stunned Guys & Darrien Kelly - Violet Skies T.O.P.D.R.O.P. - Achtung! (Rob Gee Remix) Neophyte - Happy Is Voor Hobo's Beautiful tracklist, with a few records in here you normally don't hear. Some are forgotten, and some are played in each mix. But a nice all round diverse list, with Dutch sounding Hardcore anthems. Thanks J.O.E. for this, really made my day! The mix is very good, but if we do have to point out something very disappointing, it's the length of the mix. It's only 45 minutes long, and yet within those 45 minutes we do get 23 records. Wish mixes like this one would be hours long. Once I'm in the zone, I want it to continue for as long as possible. You know, the mindset is just there, and I feel like a teenager again. Young, and full of passion and dedication for Hardcore. But that's not really a negative per se, right? There are so many great anthems to choose from, but I have to pick this one record as my favourite because a) I haven't heard it in years, and b) it's such an underrated song. 'Sick S.O.B.' by The Party Animals! My God, I remember this being on a single back in the day, and I wasn't really interested in the main song, but more into this song, As much as I liked their Happy Hardcore stuff, the Party Animals made better Hardcore/Gabber songs. Like this one and 'The Misadventures Of The Spiegel Man'. A wicked mix, and certainly one that made my day go quicker. Even though it's only 12 pm, I am full of energy, and can't wait for the weekend ahead! DJ: J.O.E. - HARDGROOVE MIX TAPE 001 - TRACKMASTER DRE (2021)
You would be thinking that today's mix is all about Ben Sims, but it's not. Well, he's got something to do with it, as he used his online platform to promote this mix, but that's all. It's all on the shoulders of Trackmaster Dre. Now you might be thinking 'who in God's name is Trackmaster Dre?', and no worries if you don't know the answer, Ben Sims is here to help. And it's also the reason behind this mix: to give upcoming artists a chance to shine! I like the concept, and it's good to give people a chance to shine. Today's mix is the first one of this HARDGROOVE mixtape series, and has Trackmaster Dre playing a few wicked Techno tunes. 60 minutes of pure Techno. This Russian DJ and producer has had some big releases over the years, and those have been liked by some of the big names in the scene. Ben Sims also played a lot of Trackmaster Dre's material, and of course he had to ask him to made this mix, as his latest EP was released on Hardgroove. A good way to start the mix series, eh? So, without further ado, here's the tracklist. You might be a Techno aficionado or a complete noob, but one thing you will be able to underline after seeing this list and hearing this mix: it's a damn good, Chicago influenced mix. Metroman - Station 3 Kuzma Palkin - SierpinskiSugrobChill Dean Cole - Time Dark Matrix - Two Be Black Truncate - Bipolar Surgeon - Klank Unknown - Private Heiko Laux & Teo Schulte - K Tune Steve Stoll - Model T Dave Clarke - Just Ride (James Ruskin Blueprint Mix) DJ Jes - Afterhours Paul Johnson - Soft Spot Unknown - Freaky Tribal Tool Boom Box - Strata Unknown - Modular 03 DM - Lay Em Down Unknown - Magic d Rolando - Jaguar (Jeff Mils Remix / Trackmaster Dre Edit) 77ks - Parcae Metroman - Station 2 I do love myself a bit of Techno here and there, especially when I'm still half asleep, and need something to wake me up. Today is such a day, but truth be told, it's my birthday and start of our two weeks annual leave, so no need for me to be extremely active. I need something easy on the ears, and Trackmaster Dre's mix is just the one I needed to hear. I loved the flow of this mix. It's a nice steady pace, and does not become a nuisance or in your face. It is really soothing to hear, and Trackmaster Dre has done a great job. A good choice to have as first guest mix for Ben Sims' mix series. Only love and appreciation for this mix. Really enjoyed it. Not a single dull moment during this mix. An hour of pure pleasure, and someone who I will follow from now on. No, not Ben Sims, already following him, but Trackmaster Dre. Love his take on Techno music. Really gorgeous. And the mix too is awesome! Best record? 'Station 3' by Metroman. Cool track to start your mix with! - Give Me A Break Part II - 12/10/2018
A day before my birthday, and I wanted something mellow to come through my speakers. And one of the first names that appear in my head is Selectabwoy. This almighty DJ has been providing me with tons of music over the years, and it has always been pleasant to hear a mix made by him. But only recently I found a mix he'd done back in 2018, and it's something else. I do mean it when I say something else. It started back in 2018 with his Evolution of Hardcore part V, closely followed by Autobiography Of A Rave Kid III, Aphex Twin dedication mix, Blue Note Volume Five, Love Mix 4, and now this. But what is this? It's his personal favourite samples/breaks/party mixes. It contains so many wicked anthems, it's going to blow your mind. Looking for Jazz? He's got you covered. Hip Hop? Yes! R&B? Also in here. Britcore? Yes, whatever that might be. Funk? Oh baby, yes! This is an all round mix with literally everything you need to hear. A truly amazing and legendary mix, and I've not even shown you the tracklist yet! This contains so many samples, you will instantly hear which records used these. Well, the originals weren't samples, but ended up becoming samples. A lot of styles and genres have used these songs for their own songs, using samples here, there and everywhere. You will know each song played by Selectabwoy and which songs used bits and bobs taken from these records. Now Selectabwoy is a friendly chap. He's had a 'naughty' version on Soundcloud, but recently he uploaded a child friendly version (so no swearing). Who would listen to that, eh? But he's pleasing literally everyone! That's why he's such a legend. Who would do that, eh? Reinvent the wheel? Only Selectabwoy. Now comes the hard and most annoying part: typing the whole tracklist. And it's a long one. Fuck me. But it's so worth it. My wrists hurt, but I had to share this tracklist with you all. I am going to make a statement which I've done every so often, but not to this extent: this has got to be one of the finest mixes EVER made. If you love and embrace music, this is certainly in the top 3 of best mixes ever. Fight me if I'm wrong. This mix is only an hour and a half long, but Selectabwoy takes you on a musical journey. Way back in time, when music was everything! Music was sexy, sensual, and so romantic. I don't know what it is, but music from back in the day always sounds so much better. It had funk, it had soul and character. The selection is superb. Yes, even this Neanderthaler loves his music funky and soulful. And there's plenty of soul in this mix. Even the Jazzy stuff is so damn good. I loose myself completely, and all my sorrows disappear. I'm sitting here, a satisfied man. A journey through the decades of excellent music. For once no Hardcore, Gabber, Happy Hardcore, Terror, but timeless music. Music that reaches your soul, and touches every single fibre in your body. Selectabwoy, you know I love your mixes, but you've outdone yourself with this mix. And fuck me, Tom Scott's 'Sneakin' In The Back' is just the epitome of excellence! Pure to the core. This is your best mix, and one people should listen to. Educate yourself, and be wondering back in time. Who needs EDM, when we've got these gems, eh? Oh, and as said before, you might like the 'raw' version or the 'child friendly' version. Both are underneath this review! Ps. am I wrong in saying that I now know where Selectabwoy got his name from? Roni Size & Krust's song perhaps? - Severe - Mix - Volume 2 (2021)
I've been quiet lately, and that's all for a good reason. I had to focus on my work life, making sure I close everything before my two weeks off. Which start this Tuesday. Like everyone in the UK we've got a nice long bank holiday ahead. So hopefully I will write a few reviews in the next few days, to get us all get through these three long but amazing days off. Truth be told, I think today's mix is going to be a good one. A powerful, strong, and very hard mix by Severe. Ever heard of Uptempo Hardcore anyone? I am still a newly, not familiar with the style. But it has gained a lot of followers in a short period of time. To me it just sounds like Terror Light, right? It is definitely hard as nails, but not as fast and rough as Terror or Speedcore. But whatever you might call it, it has a cult following, and it's not for those who appreciate anything slow and mellow. This is only for the hardest motherfuckers out there. And Severe's mix is just filed with records that will blow your mind. I don't know how I stumbled across this mix, but I am happy that I did so. I think it's because I really liked DRS and Irradiate's latest record? Mysterious algorithm happening on Soundcloud, right? But I really appreciate and love this song 'Warriors', and thank God it's in this mix. But that's the only thing so far I know. I know sadly nothing about Severe, but what I do know is that he likes his music to be hard, Hence why they call it Uptempo, right? So let me show you which songs he used for this mix. Be ready for madness: Masked Wolf - Astronaut (Chaotic Hostility Bootleg) The Dope Doctor & Chaotic Hostility - Metal Kingz The Dope Doctor - When I Rhyme Chaotic Brotherz - My Clique Chaotic Brotherz - Act A Fool MBK & R3T3P - Heart Attack The Cardinals - Favourite Game (Chaotic Hostility Remix) The Dark Horror - MDFK I'm Here Meduza - Piece Of Heart (The Dope Doctor Remix) DRS vs Repix feat Madsin - Underground Music (Chaotic Hostility Remix) DRS vs Repix - Kingz (MBK Remix) MBK & Yunke - Venemo (Yunke Edit) MBK - Not Gonna Die Today (MBK 2021 Edit) DRS & Irridiate feat MC Tha Watcher - Warriors DRS & Insanity feat MC Ravage - Sacrifice MBK - Mental Disorder R3T3P & Hell Division - God Of War As mentioned fore, I'm not an expert in Uptempo music. Still a fairly newbie to this, but I have to say that I know most of these artists. And of course I know 'Warriors', which is a very big anthem, released on Masters Of Hardcore. Severe's mix is a very entertaining one. I did the garden earlier today, and when you are doing a very obtuse and annoying task, you need something that gets you going through the task. This set was a very good one: the garden looks sharp and sexy, and only took me an hour to do so. Happy bunny! The mix is very good. The BPMs do fly through your speakers, and will blow your brain. Into smithereens, that's what your brain will be in a few minutes. Just put the volume up to the max, and enjoy it! Sometimes it does get a tad cheesy, but still, the music is rough and raw, and you wouldn't give a single shit. Best record in this mix? 'Warriors', without a shadow of a doubt. Big fucking anthem! - Bass is the Teacher [All-Vinyl Dubstep Mix] (2021)
Pearsall does Dubstep? Who would have thought that, eh? Nah, all jokes aside, of course he would play Dubstep music. Why wouldn't he? It's such a dope sound, and has got some ace records. He has obviously gone for the darker sound, where the focus is on the bass. And bass, there's plenty of that in this 75 minute long mix. Leave that to Pearsall to deliver a wicked mix. This American DJ has had a lot of wicked mixes over the years, and his blog has been very successful in promoting music you wouldn't normally hear. In this mix you don't just find Dubstep, but also some records that can be considered as Grime records too. I wish I was a bit more active in the scene, because most of these records are a complete unknown to me. But that's the mystery around this: it still baffles me. The music still gets me hyped up, and excited, and Pearsall always knows how to please the listeners. This is a brand spanking new mix, so the listen figures are still low. But once people discover this mix, it will blow up the internet! It's so damn good, but before I start kissing his arse, let's show you which tracks he has used for this mix. And it's a nice long tracklist, so my wrist will hurt after typing this one...... (thanks Pearsall) Om Unit - The Lake (Samba Remix) De-Tu - Stay Low Sir Hiss - Anatolian Heartland Boofy - Climb Out Of Your Hiding Place Kahn & Neek - Chronic Despair Von D - Chestlick Sibla & Teffa - I Wonder Why Vivek - Where Were You Leftlow - Still Dre Headland - Mod Sod Ishan Sound feat Dread MC & Rider Shafique - We A Talk (Remix) RDG - Slumber Dub J:Kenzo - Ruffhouse VIP 1 Bukkha feat Killa P- Badda Dan Dem Mystic State - Tomahawk TMSV - Mountain (Wait There) Jamakabi - Hot It Up (Kahn & Neek Remix) Von D - Goat Amit - Acid Trip (J:Kenzo Remix) J:Kenzo - Hoodwinked J:Kenzo - Nal Hutta Youngsta feat Killa P & Long Range - Progress Compa - In Check Drone - Back & Forth Pinch - Swish (Kromestar Remix) Kromestar - Culprits Venom - Hijinx Causa - Hiss Kromestar - Dancehall Kromestar - Karma Coki - Winter Is Coming Goth-Trad - Apes So many unknown artists and songs in here, but oh so freaking worth it to hear it.You should all know that Pearsall always delivers top notch quality, and this mix is no exception. Full of his own favourite Dubstep anthems, and all from vinyl. Vinyl is making a come back, so be ready for more vinyl mixes in the future. I have to say that this mix is dope. Especially when the weather is good, and you've got the windows rolled down. Obviously the volume needs to way up to the max, otherwise what's the point? You need to hear these songs and you need to feel them at the same time. I can only give credit to Pearsall's mix. Really entertaining, and wicked tracks. A few in there so damn good, blew my mind away. For example Compa's 'In Check', Von D's 'Chestlick', but the one that gets the most kudos has to be Coki's Winter Is Coming'. Big anthem. Definite Coki sounding track. Much love and appreciation. Thanks again for another wicked mix Pearsall! - Mijn Definitie van Gabber (2021)
It is Friday and I've not had a review from last week. I had to come back with a good mix to get us all in shape for this weekend. Some might go out, some might stay at home, but whatever it is you decide to go, do it in style. And as you all know, I am a gabber, and love the older sound a lot, therefore it should be no surprise that today's mix is focussed on gabber. More specifically, Fusco's view on gabber. And you might be thinking: 'how can this be any different from every other gabber's view?'. Well, that's for you to find out. Are your views the same as Fuscos? Who knows, only one way to find out: to check out this mix. Well, his views are interesting. I've already checked the mix several times, and it's quite good. These tracks are all good enough to do the distinctive gabber dance to, which is called Hakkuh. And if you are an oldskool Hardcore fanatic, you know how that's done. It's like riding a bike, once done, you will never unlearn it. It will always be there, deep down in your system. And I remember those glorious day when everyone at a rave danced the same. Harmonious. All friends. All pals for life. Gabber 4 life. Taken straight from his vinyl collection, there are some genuinely classic anthems in here. More focussed on the Rotterdam sound from the 90s, but name one person who didn't appreciate this sound? And a few forgotten anthems are in here too. You will love this tracklist as much as I did. It will give you enough energy for the upcoming weekend, and will make you wish the big events in Europe were back. We need to hear these anthems again, over and over again. So, let's jump straight into the tracklist. These are the records from Fusco's own vinyl collection which he used for this mix: Neophyte - A Rotterdam Gabber Darrien Kelly & Scott Brown - Geleihoofd Kesj & Donut - Start To Dance Impulse Factory - Bass Neophyte & The Stunned Guys - Beat Is Coming Damage Inc. - To The Extreme Masters Of Ceremony - Hardcore To The Bone Neophyte - Execute Short Circuit - Fuck Me Bodylotion - Watte Dan Mental Hardcore Associates - Let's Get Wappie! (Original Mix) DJ Gizmo - The End Of The Beginning The Shadowlands Terrorists - The First Partykick David Forbes - Techno Renegade Neophyte - Recession Bodylotion - Ik Will Hakke Wow. If this doesn't give you enough energy, what will? As an oldskool fanatic, I am digging this. Of course it's nice to hear those well known anthems like 'Hardcore To The Bone', 'Execute', 'Geleihoofd', but also a few obscure underground classics you don't hear that often. Which in itself is a pity. They deserve much more recognition for the quality of the music. But at least we've got this mix to thank, to keep the memory alive of those forgotten songs. I'm really feeling the vibes coming through my speakers. This is exactly what I needed to hear. I am happy and ecstatic at the same time. So cool to hear a few forgotten anthems, like 'Let's Get Wappie!', 'Bass', 'To The Extreme', and more. Fusco's selection is truly amazing, and has made me a happy Dutchman. The selection is hard as nails, and is a true trip down memory lane. But, and this is quite controversial, what is the best track in this mix? Is it the most played anthem at raves during the mid 90s? 'Hardcore To The Bone'? Wasn't this the track that Weirdo played as his 'final' track ever? And sadly I've got to say yes. This still packs a punch in 2021, and is truly one of the greatest Hardcore anthems ever made. Thanks Fusco for this gorgeous mix. And a side note some might appreciate: it's recorded with vinyl only records, so you do get the standard crackling sounds. Just a nostalgic touch. Love it! - SAIFAM Speciale - Edizione 2008 (09.08.2020)
Italians know how to make great Hardstyle music. And nothing can compare to the music released around 2008. It's a different sound compared to what is being made nowadays, but it's always good to go back in time, and there's no other place than Soundcloud to find mixes that take you back in time. Today's mix is made by Audioholik, who has made excellent mixes before, and now he goes back to 2008 with this SAIFAM Speciale mix. I might be a bit of a div, but I've never come across the name SAIFAM. To be fair, I never read any booklets found in CDs, or read anything other than the tracklist. Boring twat, I know. But because of my negligence I am not aware of the name of this label. Or maybe I have, but simply forgotten about due to me becoming older by the day. It happens to most of us, but I keep forgetting stuff. It's kind of sad, but OK for me. But even though the name doesn't ring a bell, the tracks do ring a bell. Knowing Audioholik a tiny bit, he plays very melodic music. And this mix isn't an exception: a very melodic sounding mix. With the finest classic Hardstyle anthems from labels such as BLQ, Dance Pollution, Green Force, Red Alert & Titanic Records, and more. And once you have a look at the tracklist you will know these tracks immediately. And you will immediately want to thank Audioholik for composing this mix. Let's delve straight in, shall we? Dark Oscillators - Trapped (Scantinato Mix) Citizen - People Won't Like This (The KGB's Remix) Bruno Power - Shotty Snipers Ivan Carsten - Unexpected (Tuneboy Remix) The Hose - I Survived Bruno Power meets Dark Oscillators - The Box Technoboy - Next Dimensional World The Hose - Piano Song (Alla Vecchia Mix) Builder - My Life Is Just A Demo (Dub Mix) 2 Best Enemies - Phases (TBY Romantic Mix) Star Creatorz - Killzone (Hunter Remix) Bruno Power meets Dark Oscillators - Research Future DJ Gius - Nerve (Tarocco Mix) Wow. Some of these records I've not heard in years! Can't believe that these are from around 2008, 13 years old! Where has the time gone to, and why has the sound changed so much? And why are we calling this classic Hardstyle already? I don't mind the present day Hardstyle, but sometimes it's good to go back in time, to hear what was played during my raving days. Fuck me man, I miss this sound, and so does Audioholik. Audioholik, can we have more mixes like this one? Just taking me back in time is glorious. I've already been to a spa earlier today and been cleansed completely, and now this? What a feeling! It's like I'm reborn again. But sadly I have to acknowledge that the sound won't return, or maybe sporadically. Not just the Italians knew how to make excellent Hardstyle music, but they were truly masters of it. It had this distinctive sound. So unique and so characteristic to the Italians. Some have stood the test of time well, and are played in many mixes, like 'Phases' by 2 Best Enemies, remixed by TBY in a romantic way. But my favourite has to be 'Trapped', remixed by Scantinato. Big ass song, and a good representation of what you are going to hear in this 61 minute long mix. Another wicked mix by Audioholik. More of these please! - Headhunterz @ GREAZYFEST 2021
Did you attend Greazyfest? On the 22nd of May the most magical event ever happened. And it has taken a while for the Greazy boys to get Headhunterz to work with them, but it has finally happened. Greazyfest 2021 was of course an online event (fuck COVID), but it had a big line up. Who hasn't heard of the following well known DJs: DJ Early Access, Thera, Riot Shift, Da Tweekaz, Caine, Headhunterz, Lil Texas, GPF, and GPF x Da Tweekaz? How cool is that? They finally got the GOAT's attention! It has happened, and what a glorious event it was. I think. I wasn't there. Completely missed it, even though I set reminders. But thankfully we can find a few sets online, including the one I'm talking about. Headhunterz was a good sport to join the madness, and looking at the video he seem to laugh throughout the whole set. 52 minutes of him laughing, being hugged, being overloaded with love and appreciation by GPF, Caine, and the Discord crew. And that's all you can wish for. I've not checked the other sets, but if they were similar to Headhunterz's set, it must have been madness. The whole marketing team behind GPF have done an amazing job in getting this event online, and the visuals are as dope as you can imagine, and it is just so different compared to the other streams we've been seeing. And of course it is a set by Headhunterz, so you know it's going to be good, right? He had to play his biggest tracks in this set, including a few that threw him off completely. He was having a blast, a proper giggle. And it is nice to see someone have this much fun, even though the piepkick generation is a weird one to explain or to follow, but once you've been bitten, you are hooked. Hopefully this is the first step to a glorious future between GPF and the legend that is Headhunterz. Who knows? But until we know the answers, let's focus on the tracklist: Headhunterz - Psychedelic (Edit) Tuneboy - Tunebeat Proppy & Heady - Summer Of Hardstyle Project One - Love Is Not Enough Yellow Claw - DJ Turn It Up (Headhunterz Edit) Brooklyn Bounce - Club Bizarre (Headhunterz & Noisecontrollers Remix) Yellow Claw - Amsterdammed (Headhunterz Edit) Headhunterz - Hate It Or Love It Headhunterz - Still Standing (GPF 420BPM Edit) Headhunterz - Power Of The Mind Headhunterz - Rock Civilization Blutonium Boy - Make It Loud (2019 Hard Bass Edit) Headhunterz - Colours w/ Headhunterz - Forever As One Headhunterz & Abject - Scantraxx Rootz Yellow Claw - Do You Like Bass (Headhunterz Edit) Headhunterz - Doomed Project One - Can You Move Headhunterz - Dragonborn Part 3 (Da Tweekaz Remix) Headhunterz - Leap Of Faith (Faster 'n Further Edit) Headhunterz - World Of Madness Builder - Her Voice (Headhunterz Remix) Headhunterz - Destiny (GPF Sex Mix) Greazy Puzzy Fuckerz feat Heady & Tweekies - Dragonporn v69 Smiles for miles. That's Headhunterz in this set. You can see him enjoying himself (or maybe just showing that he's enjoying himself.....) And not only did he DJ, but also some tasks, as in DJ with your nose, play a record at 20 BPM slower speed, and wear the GPF mask. He's such a good sport, he did them all! And of course did the come with some good tunes! Can you take this set seriously? Yes and no. It's all about having fun, and we had a lot of amazing sets during lockdown. Quality top notch. But we need to have a laugh. We do need to, it keeps us sane. And during this set a lot of smiles can be seen. And that's what I like to see. It's all humour. It's all laugh. And Headhunterz shows us all that he's so frigging cool! The tracks selected by Headhunterz are solid. The 'normal' Hardstyle tracks are solid, and the coolest has to be a tie between 'World Of Madness' and 'Club Bizarre'. Of the 'silly' tracks played I am really drawn to 'Still Standing', played at 420 BPM by Heady himself, and 'Dragonporn v69'. I know for sure that I'm insane inside and love my weird music, but at least I'm being honest. A fun and very entertaining set. If you were witnessing this when it actually happened live, you must have had a brilliant time. I hope Headhunterz and GPF can come to the UK once everything is back to normal. I need my 'normal' Hardstyle by Heady and the silly and fucking insane whatever you call the piep-kick shit by GPF. - Coherent Incoherence - A Hardcore Mix (2021)
Our website might be small, but it still reaches out to an audience of like minded people. The other day I received a message from .less. on Soundcloud, And it is genuinely nice to hear good feedback on what we've been doing for 10+ years. There ends the positive feedback. Now the other side of using Soundcloud: the promoting of mixes. .less. had to obviously promote his mix and after checking his Soundcloud channel, I found another mix which might suited me a tad more. This mix was focussed around Hardcore music, so I obviously went with this mix instead (his other mix was Hardstyle focussed, but correct me if I'm wrong). So is this your standard Hardcore mix? Not really. It is packed with Hardcore, Breakcore and Speedcore tracks. And it's also filled with unknown and obscure anthems. I always consider myself to be a Hardcore fanatic, but this mix has shown me that I've got a lot to learn. A LOT! So many records selected by .less. are a complete unknown to me, and I've never seen or heard them before. It is nice to get a new insight to a sound I've been following since 1993. And on this rainy and boring day you need something to motivate you. This could be the mix, unless you hate Hardcore music, and if that's the case, why are you even reading this review? Go somewhere else, right now! All jokes aside, let me show you the tunes .less. has chosen for this mix. If you are a full on 'obscure' Hardcore fanatic, you might like this. You might like this a lot! Nuclear Warhead - Get Off The Nuclear Warhead Collision - Ravemachine Ekeaze - Sunrise Distortion - Milk P4,13 25eme Dimension - Disturb The Force Nasenbluten - Truck Driver-Plus Buzz Fuzz - Destroyer 25% Of The Dreamteam feat Buzz Fuzz - Millennium Holocron - We Have A Choice 100% Acidiferous - Droid Sector Exsiderurgica - Devianza Ferra - Sound Of The Underground Count Negative & Drokz - Death Of A Zombie MF Machinist - Striker Mortified Rage - Off The Hook Wedlock - Sinewave Tones Micropoint - Return Of The T-Rex Patrick Catini/Toytone - Superhouse Ordeal & Matt Green & Unknown Artist - Guerrilla. Vice Squad Traffik - Part 1 Noize Creator - Nasenbluten (Remix) End. - Fit To Die Electric Kettle - Racing Pigeon Kid 606 - I Want To Join A Gang Burning Lazy Persons - Poisoned Radio Wave The Speed Freak - Buried Alive (Biobreaks Remix) Threatcon Delta - The People Need To Be Killed Acid Enema - The Dark Sanctuary - Ecclestial Abadonnement As mentioned before, I don't know most of these names. A few are obviously known, but the majority aren't. But as .less. mentioned, these records are from 3 decades, so you've got brand new records and 'old' records. Everything is in here, if you want to hear a mix with underground anthems. I love this not so standard mix. It's different, quirky, and entertaining. Just what I needed to hear. And it's also jam packed with records I've never heard before. Good job .less., you have certainly given me a tracklist full of unknowns. Even though some artist names are known, the records are not. And it does give me an insight on the rougher side of Hardcore. Not a huge fan of Breakcore or Speedcore, but if played at a rave, it will make me move fast and ruggedly. A highly entertaining mix by .less., and I've enjoyed it. A few tiny errors, but nothing to write home about. And it's also a free download! How about that, eh? DJ: .less. - Predator - Dominator 2008 Mix [CD]
Wednesday, Hardcore day. And let's go back in time, roughly 13 years ago, to 2008. Do you remember the years when promo mixes were on CD and handed out? Nowadays everything is on Soundcloud, Mixcloud, or any cloud based website, but back then you had CDs. Kids, remember, those are the flat discs you might be using as coasters. We used them to gain our music fix. And for the Dominator festival which took place on 26/07/2008, they asked DJ Predator to come up with a mix, which was shared. And recently he uploaded this specific mix for the first time online. This mix was to celebrate the 2008 edition of the mighty Hardcore festival called 'Dominator' (which I've not visited yet but really want to), and Predator got the finest tracks to compose this CD. Of course he had to play the finest Hardcore anthems from around 2008, including a few of his own productions and collaborations. To me this was an important decade of Hardcore: it was all melodic and harmonious. A few of those records are in here, and they were played literally everywhere, and many sang these songs out loud, like 'Nobody Said It Was Easy'. It was also the period when Angerfist gained a massive cult following, and you can find a few of his productions in here too. You will get a lot of excellent Hardcore tunes in a 69 minute long mix. Carefully selected and mixed together beautifully by Predator, Which anthems you might be wondering? Well, just look at this tracklist: Evil Activities - Evilution Amnesys - Worldwide Crisis Prowler - World In Chaos Evil Activities vs The Viper - Raw To The Floor Kasparov feat MC R.A.W. - We Will Dominate (Angerfist Remix) DJ Mad Dog & Noize Suppressor - Fire DJ Ruffneck & Ophidian - So Many Sacrifices Predator - Demon Pit DJ Mad Dog - Disorder Angerfist - Riotstarter Art Of Fighters & Endymion - Let's Get It On D-Saster - Deathline Evil Activities - Nobody Said It Was Easy The Headbanger - I'm In Your Head (Tha Playah Remix) Promo - The Tablet Hellsystem - Pray Angerfist feat Predator - The Switch Tha Playah - Fuck The Titties (The Viper & Tommyknocker Remix) Angerfist feat Predator - 187 Denekamps Gespuis - Gas Met Die Zooi (Tha Playah Remix) Oh God, the realisation that these tracks are roughly 13 years old, that's just clearly insane! Simply can't believe it? It was only yesterday I bought these records. Time goes by too damn fast. It is nice to go back in time, it's like a time machine. Back to 2008, way before COVID and other crap. Hardcore was awesome back then. You don't believe me? Just listen to this mix and prove me otherwise. I do prefer the more melodic and euphoric Hardcore. I wouldn't say I didn't like the harder, no nonsense Hardcore (like Promo's 'The Tablet'), but the more melodic stuff just grabs my attention. And I'm a sucker to hands in the air and singing a song with thousands of fellow ravers. Even though I don't know half of these lyrics, mind you. Predator's mix is tight. So many classic anthems. So many memories to a long gone era. Millennium Hardcore just reigns supreme. And of course you might say that Angerfist dominated literally everything, but to me the best in this mix has to be 'Fuck The Titties'. You couldn't go to a party without hearing this. Literally everywhere and anywhere, and you would hear this anthem. And it stood the test of time well. Still sounds ace in 2021. Excellent mix, nice time capsule to a glorious year for the Hardcore scene. And a long forgotten trade of promotion: promo CDs. All long gone, all behind us. Fuck, time goes too damn fast. - Science In Action 3 (2021)
Another day in paradise, eh? To me it is, and hopefully you are having a great day too. If not, I might have something to persuade you: a brand new mix by DJ Virus! AdamDJVirus as he's known on Soundcloud. A Breakbeat Hardcore mix. Who doesn't want to hear that? And it's not the first time his name appears on this website: his 'The Hardcore Years' mixes and the previous 'Science In Action' mixes have always been very pleasant to hear. And now we have reached the third instalment. I really enjoyed the previous 'Science In Action' mix, and after discovering he uploaded the newest instalment of this mix series, I got on the hype train, and played it over and over. And I wasn't disappointed whatsoever. Sometimes you just know, even before you press play, if a mix is going to make you happy or sad. And this certainly has made me a happy bunny. Now you might be thinking to yourself 'what's this Breakbeat Hardcore?', or even 'who still listens to Breakbeat Hardcore?'. Well, to answer both questions: it's ace, and I do. And so do many others. Breakbeat has never gone out of fashion, and never even follows fashion. It's unique, fresh, and still kicking balls. It's a timeless genre, appreciated and loved by many, including yours truly (TCD). So what's in this mix? Well, these gems you certainly don't want to miss out on: Dub-Liner & Arkyn - Kandyman Static Structures - Wicked Fire Kalli - Song For Them (Tim Reaper Remix) Tuff Tunes - Check This Out NRG - Make Me Feel Ill Behaviour - 005AA Fat Controller - In Complete Darkness (Pete Cannon Remix) Unglued - H To The A To The R To The D To The C To The O To The R To The E Prozak - Leave You Tuff Tunes - In My Mind Coco Bryce - The Mad One Unknown Artist - Opus III Asquith - Back To Danny's (Ripped CD Mix) Coco Bryce - Bait Hoven Trigger Happy - 2B1 Haze'n'Fader - Only One Hyperkinetic - Feel So Real DJH - Hold Tight Boca - Theory Of Everything Lavery - Can't Stop The Dance Tim Reaper & Devnull - Give It 2 Me (Coco Bryce Remix) This is one dope mix! Proper oldskool vibes! Obviously Breakbeat is timeless, but it still remains to have this unique 90s sound and vibe surrounding it. And isn't that the only thing we are longing for? Who cares about not raving in 2021? We want to go back to the 90s, asap! Of course raving in 2021 would be cool, and restrictions would be thrown out of the window, but to go back to the 90s, true ravers would rather prefer that, right? The underground sound, and the secret rave locations? Underground bunkers anyone? You would phone a specific number and they would tell you where the party was, and you would follow many other vehicles to the rave. It was illegal but oh so damn cool. And that's what this mix does to me. No, I didn't mean be illegal or do something illegal. But it gives me feelings of a decade long gone, but oh so close. The music was so damn good, and the vibes, indescribable. It was a different world, and now we are used to it. It has become the norm. The music in this mix exactly resembles what you would hear at a rave in the 90s in the UK. The Dutch were more focussed on the Hardcore/Gabber stuff, but I would have been in Heaven if I'd been at a UK rave in the 90s. DJ Virus' mix is spot on, and extremely dope. I've now listened to this since 6 am, and haven't looked back. It's been on a constant loop, and I'm enjoying it. A wicked mix you all should listen to, and absorb those feels! You will feel something inside burning. A craving for the 90s! - Vertile's Dimension 2.0 @ Defqon.1 at Home (2021-06-26)
I don't even know if I'm allowed yet to review this? As this was an exclusive event for members of the community (you pay a small fee to have exclusivity, you could see all the sets of this year's Defqon.1). Obviously it was meant to stay exclusive, but the world we live it, it won't allow something to remain exclusive. So within a few days, a few sets already appeared on Youtube and Soundcloud. And secretly I am happy, because it's a set by my favourite Hardstyle DJ Vertile. And on the other hand I feel incredibly guilty for hearing this. Don't blame me, blame the uploader. Defqon.1 certainly does not require an introduction. This well established event has been on our radar since 2003, and even during lockdown they are able to please the fans, those who miss raving to the max. And they always have the finest artists. On the Saturday, the day Vertile took over the world, he wasn't the only one: Thera vs Geck-O, Rob Gee, Hellfish, Vince, Zany, Crypton, Lady Dammage, Frontliner, Radical Redemption, Adrenalize, Bass Modulators, Noisecontrollers, Keltek, Sephyx, Unresolved, Cryex, Dither, TNT, Mad Dog, Anime, Myst, Warface, Headhunterz, Frequencerz... and that's just one day! That's insane. Obviously they don't have a 2 hour set each, but short sets. But it's compensated with brilliant visuals. They fucking know how to throw a party, the people at Q-Dance! That's for damn sure. A few months ago I heard Vertile's track for the first time (which was 'Change This Place'), and I haven't looked back. That track blew me away, seriously. From that specific moment I started to follow this legend, and whenever he released something new, I jumped on it, like a drug addict. I had to hear Vertile at least once a day. I needed to have that feeling, rushing through my body. His music just speaks to me. Melodic, but rough. I am seriously impressed with his musical skills, and are always highly entertained whenever I hear a set by him, or even to hear a track by him. His first 'Dimension' set literally blew me into smithereens. That was something special. Short and sweet. And the number of views have only gone up: I keep on playing it over and over. But now, the second instalment took place at Defqon.1 and is now up for grabs. Even though it shouldn't be. I do feel guilty.Apologies, but I just had to share this. If it's taken down, so be it. A Vertile set with only Vertile records? Pure orgasms. Here's the tracklist; Vertile - Not My Affection (Kick Edit) Vertile - On My Own Vertile - Change This Place Rebelion -Echoes (Vertile Remix) Vertile - ID Adaro & Vertile - Walk With Me Vertile - Stronger (2021 Edit) Vertile & Demi Kanon - That's How I Do It Endymion & The Viper feat Feral Is Kinky - Raging In The Dancehall (Vertile Remix) Vertile - The New Normal Vertile - Eyes Closed (Climax Edit) His set was only 30 minutes long, but within those 30 minutes, he blew me away. And I'm guessing those who paid for this privilege must have experienced the same. The set was extraordinary, and the visuals mind-blowingly good. It actually looked like an event pre-COVID19. And as we speak, more and more events are taking place, so hopefully soon we will be replacing those 'dummies' and have us, human beings, standing there instead. Nothing but praise for this upcoming artist. He's my number 1 artist at the moment, and I truly enjoyed the first and second instalment of his already legendary 'Dimension' sets. The intro was cool, the visuals out of this world, and the tracks were astonishingly good. A few new exclusive records, and one unknown. If you know what the title is of the fifth record, please let me know. Vertile deserves everything. A stage all to himself. The main stages at all big Hardstyle events. He's certainly the future of the genre. His music is just bang on, spot on. Very talented producer, and with the tracks he played at Defqon.1, he shows the world yet again how talented he is, and what we can expect in the future. Nothing short of excellence, this set. Of course I went into this set knowing most of his tracks, but he still amazed me. And it was difficult to pick one record as my favourite. 'Change This Place' is legendary, 'On My Own' a classic in the making, but 'Walk With Me' is now my favourite. The melody of this track is just so damn good. A fantastic set. Vertile = the future. - In Bed With The Darkraver (2010)
The year is 2010, and the Darkraver releases this album, called 'In Bed With The Darkraver'. An album I purchased from my local CD store, but don't know what happened with it ever since. Probably gone somewhere, when I moved from NL to the UK. It is gone, but never forgotten. And how funny is it to find it again after 11 years? Only cropped up on my timeline on Youtube a month ago, but it has already had a few plays by myself. Not because of the title of this CD. Hell, I wouldn't want to wake up in a bed with the Darkraver. He might be a nice lad, but not worthy to wake up next to (unless you are his wife, of course)..... All jokes aside, this was an album released in Belgium, but made it's way to The Netherlands too. As I lived near the Belgium (and German) border, we always got more stuff from abroad too. This was one of them. And I think this was around the time when I actually see him at the service station, during one of my nightshifts. This album had a lot of wicked tracks on it. Carefully selected and mixed together by the Darkraver himself. Even in 2021 it's nice to hear a few forgotten anthems. There are quite a few on here which you don't hear anymore. Maybe at events, but truth be told, when will that happen again, eh? When I saw the tracklist, I knew I had to buy it. A good solid looking tracklist, mixed by one of the craziest Dutch Hardcore DJs known to man. Seen him perform a few times many moons ago; in Belgium, and in Landgraaf (the E-Xlipse anyone?). But nowadays I follow him on social media and watch his livestreams a lot. Always madness. But for this mix he stayed true to the concept: hard and rough, and no mucking about. Just pure Hardcore. For those hoping that this CD would contain some sexual anthems due to the title of this CD, there isn't anything sexual about this. It could turn you on, and if that's the case, you are a true Hardcore nutjob! And that's a good sign. Tracklist please! The Darkraver feat Ruffian - In Bed With The Intro Da Bulldozer Project - Something Special Art Of Fighters - Harmful Art Catscan - Enemy On The Run Promo - Life From The Other Side DJ Neophyte & Scott Brown - Hold The Beat Back Impulse Factory vs Reactor & Raoul - Won't Give You Respect Evil Activities - What's Inside Me? DJ Isaac - Start The Beat The Reactor & Raoul meet Impulse Factory - It's Dangerous Out There Nosferatu - Human Experiments Tha Playah - Hit 'Em The Viper & Endymion feat Nikita - Sanity Re-Style - Get It Crackin Korsakoff - Surround Me Nosferatu & Mad Dog - Lack Of Existence Paul Elstak feat Beatstream & Radiate - Angels Deserve To Die Na-Goyah - Inexpugnabilis (Invicible) Tha Playah - Why So Serious? G-Town Madness - Headbanger Jeremy - The Flow (T-Junction & Rudeboy Remix) Day-Mar - Guess What Outblast & Angerfist - Delusion Of course he had to throw in the big classics by artists such as Tha Playah, Evil Activities, Art Of Fighters, etc. A good looking tracklist, and if you dig the Millennium Hardcore sound, you will certainly be pleased after hearing this hour and a bit long mix. A very nice collection of records. If you think about this: these are classics, and they don't even sound old. Still fresh as the day they were released. But a forgotten sound that needs more and more attention: who needs the new style Hardcore when you've got this magnificent style? I'd choose this over any new style Hardcore. No offence to anyone, but this is just superb! His mix started with a silly intro, but quickly jumped into one amazing record, one I really love: 'Something Special' by Da Bulldozer Project. What a wicked anthem! I can hear this track over and over, and it takes me right back to pre Millennium years! The sound that was created back then, just beyond beggars belief! Some records haven't stood the test of time sadly, but can still be enjoyable to listen to. A nice selection of records by The Darkraver. Good choices, sir! One of your finest mixes. Not as brilliant as your Heroes Of Hardcore mix, but close enough! - Tha Playah - Best Hardcore (2008-2014) (2015)
It's Tuesday today, and I was awake quite early. WFH had become my normal standard, but I needed something hard and rough to get me through the day. Obviously I can immediately go to Youtube and listen to some Splittercore, GPF Piep Kick core, or anything above 1000 BPM. The urge to go onto that path wasn't there, I did wanted to hear something hard, but yet with a lot of melody and harmony. What I did was, go to Youtube, and just clicked on first randomly generated video. And how funny is it, that this first one was a Tha Playah dedication mix, full of tracks by this legendary and mighty producer, all tracks from 2008 until 2014.The set can be found on a Youtube channel called 'HardSets, and it was mixed by the channel owner. But come on, Tha Playah does not need an introduction. Much loved and appreciated producer and DJ in the Hardcore scene. He's been working hard over the years, and has earned his place on the mainstage. His sound and style is so refreshing, and certainly uplifting. A nose for producing. He knows what the crowd wants, and gives them everything their heart desires. Full on melodic Hardcore, what else would you want to hear? The years selected for this dedication mix were the years I slowly started to appreciate Tha Playah more and more, but it was way before 2008 when I was first introduced to his sound. But definitely the 2008 to 2014 years were glorious, to say the least. During these years he released many dancefloor anthems. All loved and embraced by the raving community. And it's not just his own productions which have gained notoriety for being excellent, his collaborations with artists such as The Viper, Neophyte, Ophidian, Tommyknocker, Nosferatu, Promo, and many more, have all been fully embraced! The man has got talent, that's for sure. And let's not forget the remixes he has made! Bloody hell, some of them are even better than the originals! And that says a lot. (you can picture me being a huge fan of him, and you are absolutely right!). He might have embraced the Joker's facial make up/smile, but he's certainly not a joker! More like Batman, ruler of the Hardcore scene! So which anthems did HardSets use for this appreciation mix? Well, these: Tha Playah - On The Edge Noisecontrollers - Unite (Tha Playah Remix) Tha Playah & Nosferatu - Requiem Of The Fallen Angerfist - Temple Of Disease (Tha Playah Remix) Tha Playah & E-Life - Lead The Way (Harmony Of Hardcore 2013 Anthem) Tha Playah - Walking The Line Tha Playah - Why So Serious? Hellsystem - Blood (Tha Playah Remix) Tha Playah - Bling Bling (DJ D vs Nitrogenetics Remix) Ophidian & Tha Playah - Illusions Tha Playah - Hit 'em (Evil Activities vs The Viper Remix) Mad-E-Fact - The Hustle (Evil Activities & Tha Playah - Wasted Minds 2014 Edit) Promo & Tha Playah feat Snowflake - Open Tha Playah - Bounce Back Nosferatu & Tha Playah - Fade To Nothing Tha Playah & Tommyknocker - The Easy Way Tha Playah feat MC Alee - Menace To Mankind (Official Syndicate 2013 Anthem) Tha Playah & Neophyte - Still Nr. 1 Tha Playah - Clockwork Noize Suppressor & Tha Playah feat MC Rage - Victorious Tha Playah & MC Alee - Always Right Angels Of Darkness - Cold As Ice (Tha Playah Remix) Tha Playah & Neophyte feat MC Alee - The Ultimate Project Evil Activities & DJ Panic - Quiet Dedication (Neophyte & Tha Playah Remix) Art Of Fighters - Artwork (Tha Playah Remix) Evil Activities feat Panic & MC Alee - Never Fall Asleep (Tha Playah Remix) Neophyte & Tha Playah - Snitcher! Men Of Steel - The Future Is Ours (DJ Panic & Tha Playah Remix) Tha Playah feat MC Tha Watcher - Eternal (Official Masters Of Hardcore 2014 Anthem) The Viper & Tha Playah - Fearless Tha Playah & Neophyte - I'm In A Nightmare Neophyte & Tha Playah feat MC Alee - Tijdbom Tha Playah - I Call The Shots (2012 Remix) Tha Playah & Neophyte - Great Success Tha Playah - My Misery HardSets have selected a wicked bunch of Tha Playah tracks. Be it his own productions or remixes. But these do take me back to those glorious years. Sadly never saw Tha Playah perform, but I'm guessing it must be an experience, something you will talk to your grandkids about. But on a serious note: if you have been to a rave where Tha Playah played, how was it? Must have been ace, right? Or is it even better than anything you have ever experienced? So jealous of everyone who have seem him. I'll just have to make do with this dedication mix, which in itself isn't a bad thing, right? The tracks, well, no need to discuss them. Fucking solid. Hard as nails. True late Millennium/Early 10s Hardcore sound. And the good thing about this mix, is the realisation that some tracks are old! 2008 is 13 years ago! Think about that?! Some of these records sound so fresh, and like they were only made the other day, not 10+ years ago! Surreal that is. The mixing is good, but there's room for improvement. Maybe too eager at certain moments. Not a bad mix, don't get me wrong, but tiny errors here and there. Would have been a 5 out of 5 if it was perfect. Best track? That was difficult. Because my most favourite Tha Playah record is in this mix, but it's a remixed version of the original ('Bling Bling'). But I'll go for a quirky anthem 'Great Success'. When it was released, it meant nothing to me, but now it just feels right. Hard and funny, that's what I like (that sounds so wrong on so many levels). - Paula Temple - HATE Podcast 230 (2021)
Imagine, sitting in the office, and you have got lots to do. You are busy. But you need something to motivate you. You search the World Wide Web for something, and you stumble upon this mix. Your heart beat rises, you start nodding your head vividly, your feet start to move, and the report you had to finish, was already done 1 hour ago. You fly through whatever it is your boss throws at you, all thanks to Paula Temple. And she did deliver an awesome set, if truth be told. I've never heard of this female DJ before, but she has gained a follower. And her set got a lot of positive feedback, and incredible play statistics. People seem to love this lady and her skills behind the decks.... and I do too! I saw this mix on Soundcloud, and quickly pressed play. And what happened after was the following: I was in ecstasy for 57 minutes! No joke, I was in complete shock and awe. On Soundcloud there's a link that takes you to Youtube, where you can see her perform live at the Elementenstraat in Amsterdam, and the set is glorious. The first time I saw the set, I sat in silence, watching her do her thing behind the decks. And I was seriously impressed with the tunes. Imagine calling yourself a music lover, but not knowing that this set or this DJ exists! I should call myself a noob. How can I not know of Paula Temple? I feel ashamed and embarrassed. You can tell that she's unimpressed with my musical knowledge: on the picture above it looks like she's directly looking at me in anger. Sorry Paula, I am now aware of who you are, and what you are capable of! She's capable of bringing the heat. But which tracks did she select for her nearly hour long set? Well, these: Linn Elisabet - Acts Of Rebellion Hxist - Heavenly Goddess Paula Temple - GEGEN X Paul Temple - Unknown Hybral - Ramponiert Hephaistos - Fetishizing Loneliness Sekulahr - Persona Non Grata SNTS - Judged By Uncertainty OTHK - Prevent Jokasti & Nek - How Low Crystal Geometry - Troublemaking Perc - Melter X7Ø-7 - She Killed Me When I Dreamed Insect - The End Is Now Linn Elisabet - Soundtrack Of The Rebellion Aneed - Virgo (Say My Name) Hatelove - The Black Crow Might Be Twins - Help Yourself Paula Temple - Unknown Aho Ssan - Outro Clouds - Sample From Am Fonn Mor Paula Temple - Unknown 6ejou - Red Bunker VII Circle - Brutal Void Sara Parkman - Öppna Spjäll (Paul Temple's Full Throttle Remix) Endlec - Fear Shock Second Spectre - Death Note Blutrot - Weltschmerz I am still sitting here in complete silence. Being overwhelmed by what Paula Temple has done! Her set is extraordinary! I needed that, and it got the work done. Also 2 hours on the M25 flew by like mad. This is exactly the kind of Techno I do adore. Hard, rough, and dark. I might look like a cheerful chap, but the darker the Techno, the better. And Paula has proven herself by doing this set. She is truly one to look out for. And if you are like me, make sure you start checking her out, you won't be disappointed. The set is live, and you can see it for yourself on Youtube (click here). If you are not bothered about epic visuals, you can click the Soundcloud player below, and hear the set. My God, this has got to be the fourth time I've pressed play, and I still have goosebumps. HATE has certainly got the right DJ for the job: she came, she saw, and she delivered! Rome wasn't build in a day, but Paula Temple got us dancing in just 57 minutes! And after those 57 minutes we craved for more. Have that, Rome! The whole set was dark and edgy, and I love it. But one specific track caught my eye, which was her own track called 'GEGEN X'. And the track played around the 37-38 minute mark. If anyone knows the title of that track, let me know. The set is epic, and people do underline how good this set is. Much love for Paula and her set, and of course the Elementenstraat and Reaktor and HATE for sharing this. I still can't believe I'm listening to this set only for the 'first' time earlier this week, and not weeks or months ago! Probably the best Techno set of 2021! Disagree? Leave a comment below! - Selectabowy - Love Mix 4 (2021)
Love is all around, love is everywhere. And it's glorious! Once you've been bitten by the love bug, it won't leave you alone, ever. But when it comes to music, is Jungle really the style that has the love factor? Is Jungle powerful enough to get your loving heart beating faster? Turns out that it might surprise you, Jungle is more powerful than you think! It's full of love, appreciation, and dedication. And of course beats, bass, and melody. But some records are so full of love, it overflows with love. Selectabwoy, what have you done now? A love mix? He must have been hit by Cupid with the bloody arrow, right? And it's not even Valentines Day! I am currently in love too! With the wife, and with music. It seems more and more lately that music touches me deeper, and I do love the feeling. And everyone around me seems happier, but that could be because of Freedom day and the fact that we are out of lockdown, so to speak. It could also be that I'm seeing the world differently, and love is all around? I'm not the only one full of love, Selectabwoy is also full of love, and the producers of these Jungle anthems. And the listeners on Soundcloud. There's already a lot of love for this mix, and I have to underline the comments on Soundcloud: as always, Selectabwoy has given us an ace mix, with loveable anthems from an underrated scene: the Jungle scene. Some early 90s and some brand new tracks in this mix. All focussed on love. You will certainly love this mix, but first, let's dive into the tracklist: Coco Bryce - Trust Issues Hidden Agenda - Is It Love? Stretch - Kisses Stretch - Papa Love (Theory Remix) Jodeci - Feenin' (LTJ Bukem mix) DJ Gunshot - Wheel Up (Marble Mix) Double O - Love Fracture - Loving Touch Kid Lib - I Know U Dillinja - Perfect Match Decibella - LOVE Jack Ruby - For Adults Only DJ Dextrous - Pure Sex D'TCH & Soul Defiance - Do Your Thing Sedzy - All My Love Dillinja - Baby Your Ricky Force - Make It Right DJ Trax - High Time (Nookie Remix) DJ Dextrous & Rude Boy Keith feat Erin - Lovable Part 2 Alex Reece - I Need Your Love Safari Sounds- Free Your Mind Kid Lib - Can't Explain Dwarde & Tim Reaper - Untitled (Volume 6 A1) (Equinox Remix) Source Direct - Secret Liaison Oooh, can you feel the love? Can you feel the warmth coming at you through your speakers? Free love anyone, Selectabwoy is sharing the love! This is so jam packed with love anthems, it's nearly sickening. But thankfully the dark Jungle sounds keep us on our toes, and keeps us moving, yet we feel an internal glow happening. Is this what they call love? This isn't the first 'love' themed mix, and will certainly not be the last. Selectabwoy has got you covered. Just set a reminder for next Valentines Day to go to his Soundcloud channel and start playing these four mixes so far (maybe he will upload more before 14/02/2022, who knows?). The other half will be impressed. Unless they don't like Jungle. In that case, well, you are buggered. A very snazzy and cool mix. And I'm digging the tunes. The tracks are all ace, and set the mood immediately. The one that caught my eyes and ears has got to be Safari Sounds' 'Free Your Mind'. Lovely tune. Another fantastic and epic and lovely mix! Selectabwoy, you are a true hero. A saviour to many. More of these lovely mixes please! - RawDust - Gas Op Die Lolly Vol 1. (2021)
It is Friday, and yet another steaming day. I was off today, and it was just me in the house. No one else, so the music could be turned up to the max, and I could play whatever I liked. As you would know, I normally go to Soundcloud quickly, and see if anything new had been posted. And the first mix I saw, was a mix by DJ Rawdust, a DJ who's mix I reviewed quite a long time ago. Really impressed with his previous mix, but am I as impressed with his 'Gas on the lolly volume 1'? Yes, I know what it means, but how to translate this from Dutch to English is undoable. But what is in this new mix? Rawstyle tracks by big names. Big names you say? Yes, like Radical Redemption, Luminite, Malice, Aversion, Aggressive Act, and more. So hard stuff, yeah? Guessing that you really wanted to hear that on this Friday? No stuff to cool you down, you need stuff to heat you up, and burn off those calories. This DJ from Heerlen has made a very nice set, but this isn't certainly the only set on his Soundcloud channel: he's got plenty to choose from. The reason I chose this one was because it was the first one I noticed when Soundcloud opened up. That's the only reason. Rawstyle, you must be in the mood for it, but I'm guessing that you are, seeing as you reading this. So which records are selected by Rawdust? Well, these: Vasto - Make 'm Bounce Aggressive Act - Supreme (Live Edit) Alternate Reality - Sample Flip Unresolved - Murder Aversion - All These People Revelation - Lose Control Brutality - Party Rocker (Nolimits Remix) Rawpvck feat L-scream - Raw Bass Kickdrum B-Savage - Goddamn DJ Cold Confusion - Keep It Alive Rawframez - Brutal Murder Cryex - Buried Alive Radical Redemption - Rule Them All Radical Redemption, Crypsis & Act Of Rage feat Chain Reaction, Minus Militia, Luna, Kold Konnexion & Nolz - Brothers In Sound Deadalus - Taking Over Control Fraw feat MC Activate - Ready To Fight Imperatorz - Living My Dream KickRolls - Executing Neroz - Kickdrum Addict Mutilator - Hypnosis Matzic - Bass In Your Face (2021 Extended Kick Edit) Koalaz - Blinded Luminite - Be Myself Malice feat San284 - Don't You Dare Rebelion & Garra - Reverse Rehab A 51 minute long mix with 25 records. DJ Rawdust doesn't take any prisoners, does he? He wants you to dance, and dance hard, uncontrollably hard. And with this selection of records the people will start raving. How can you sit still? You need to get out of your chair, and raise your hands in the air. Oh, before you do that, you need to crank up the volume to the max. How else are you going to feel the beats and bass penetrate your body and eardrums, eh? It is hard to keep up with the records. He's unstoppable. He keeps on playing one hit after the other, and before you know it, you are sitting/standing in a room and the mix has ended. It goes too damn quick, but there's a positive: it's downloadable. So play it whenever and wherever you dance. Got nothing negative to say. Go jump on this mix, and play it out loud, if you like the beats and bass to be raw as hell. Oh, and it's got 'All These People' by Aversion, big ass hit! Not a fan of the last hit, but hey ho, that's just me Only score available! - Somniac One | Artaphine Series 074 (2021)
The last couple of days it's been hot, very hot. A blooming heatwave they call it. I call it unbearable. My body isn't made for this heat. I'm sitting inside, literally 1 foot away from my airconditioning unit. I need the cold. But the heat kept on coming in, slowly. And I couldn't handle it. So typically British: if it gets hot, people complain. If it gets too cold, people complain. But what I can't complain about, is this new mix I had to share with you all. If you are into Techno, you will certainly be pleased with what I'm offering you today! A mix by Somniac One. This Lithuanian DJ is a complete unknown to me, but after hearing this mix, she quickly gained a new fan. I simply discovered this mix by accident, and now I'm hooked to this darker sounding Techno. I knew it existed, of course, but her mix is just tight as hell. Most people out there are listening to some Summer anthems playing on the radio, while I am listening to some hard Techno. With a bit of Industrial Hardcore here and there. The mix she made for Artaphine is an hour and 14 minutes long. Not known with this new mix series (I really need to spend more time online!), I am already intrigued, and this is only the first mix I've heard: I've got 73 other mixes to go through. But within those 74 minutes she will do her best to get you dancing, wherever you are. And it certainly works: I haven't sad still for more than a second. Very demanding mix, especially in this heat, but it's oh so worth it! Tracklist for those who require it: Manni Dee - Take Time Plastikman - Spaz Stephen Disario - As One Ø [Phase] - Morphic-R Albert Salvatierra - Walking Through The Mysterious World E.L.I.A.S - Every Human Is An Enemy Schwefelgelb - Wie Viel Haur Stef Mendesidis - Interlynx Slam - Infiltration Öspiel - Daggers Are Thrown Arnaud Le Texier - Mystery Aahan - Ours Is The Storm EAS - The Universe Is Doomed Jokasti & Nek - Bumrush Zadig - Event Horizon (Perc Remix) VII Circle - Warriors Yant - Kaleidoscopic Vision Randomer - Sleep Of Reason PØLI & Lorenzo Raganzini - Metal Works [KRTM] - Neutral People DJ Misjah - Keep Your Love Manni Dee - Pivotal Summer Mickey Nox - Pale Nimbus Kander - Insight Blawan - My Guide To Dancing On Carpet Vainqueur - Lyot (Maurizio Mix) [KRTM] - I Have Muscles, Look At Me Amotik - Sau Adrom - Floating Heads Brain Ovulation - Only Kick (Rushin' Mix) [KRTM] - E (I Love The Polizei) This is an amazing mix. One of the reasons why this is amazing, is because only 2 names out of the 30+ names in this mix are known to me. Plastikman and [KRTM]. And that's it! Literally, only these two names. And the second reason why this is an amazing mix, is because it's dark and edgy Techno. No light stuff for Somniac One, only rough and tough stuff. It was 74 minutes of pure pleasure. A delight, listening to this mix. Somniac One's mix is really tight, and she shows us what she's capable of. And what she is capable of, is playing banging tunes! Old and new, all together. And it works well, extremely well. Loving the diversity of it all. Normally I would fully dive into the mix, but this one is just spot on. Got no complaints, only love and appreciation for this mix. And also for including a dope ass track by Vainqueur, 'Lyot', remixed by Maurizio. Big track from the glorious 90s. Really enjoyed this mix. And so should you! - Gaspipe - Parkzicht Mix Vol. III (2015)
Parkzicht. Many of you oldschool Hardcore and House fanatics might know the name and the legacy, and I do know of the location, but never been, due to the fact that it got closed down around 1996, when I was too young to start raving. But I always link the location to the rave scene, as it was mentioned in many documentaries, and was praised by a lot of DJs. I've heard a lot of Parkzicht mixtapes and Gabber has always been on my radar, But Parkzicht was so much more than just a rave location to many... In the early 80s it became a haven for New Rave and Punk, and later it turned in a Disco, R&B and funk focussed location. House emerged later, and slowly that changed into Hardcore House, or Gabber House as some call it. This location in Rotterdam was quite diverse, but toward the early and mid 90s it became the must go to location for Gabber events. Sadly in 1996 there was a shooting incident, which resulted in the location being closed. But the legacy remained alive. Many mixes can be found online, mixtapes and liveset, but they are mostly focussed on the harder side of House. This mix, made by Gaspipe, is focussed on the softer side of House. Hits that would immediately take you back to the early 90s, and were played at Parkzicht. This mix was uploaded roughly 6 years ago, and don't know where volume 1 and 2 are. And there aren't many other mixes on this Soundcloud channel. But this third instalment should be good enough for you to go back into the 90s. Flashbacks overload! So which House tracks were selected by this DJ? Well, these: DJ Caligula - Piano Junkie Joe Inferno - Satanika Cajmere - Percolator Fix - Flash! LNR - Work It To The Bone (DJ T Edit) George Morel - Let's Groove Space Trax - Take Me Away (Part 1) Grooveyard - Mary Go Wild Joey Beltram - Forklift Robert Owens - I'll Be Your Friend Smooth Touch - In My House (More & Phearce Mix) Secret Cinema - Timeless Attitude Maurizio Braccagni - Mosquito DJ Misjah & Groovehead - Trippin' Out Rave Gang - House Hip Hop Yes mate, these are the classics! Some forgotten House anthems, and some obviously big hitters like 'Timeless Attitude', 'Mary Go Wild' and 'Work It To The Bone'. Proper early 90s vibes coming through my speakers right now, and I'm loving it. Loving it a lot. Seriously impressive, this tracklist. Gaspipe, or Richard van Nellestijn, has made a wicked mix. I can picture these being played in Parkzicht (or any other venue for that matter), and the place would have exploded. So many classic anthems. Well respected and loved classics. Nicely mixed together. Good selection of songs, in my honest opinion. This is when I discovered House music, and fell in love with it. The 90s were so damn good, when it comes to House music. Truly amazing sound, and it created a vibe so unique and fresh, it's a 90s thing. You can (mostly) tell if a House track was early 90s, mid 90s, or late 90s. It had a sound, a feeling surrounding it. Gaspipe's mix is a solid one. If you are digging this, there are plenty of other mixes like this one online. Just take a trip down memory lane, and relive the 90s. They were oh so good! Oh, and the best track for me is Joey Beltram's 'Forklift'. Big Techno anthem! - DJ Henk - Jump Mix June 2012
It is Wednesday, and I'm off. And so is the wife. We had to do some last minute shopping, and due to COVID we still had a few annual leave days left, hence why we took today as our shopping day. So while everyone else is working, we decided to have a day to ourselves. And after a day of hard shopping, I decided to search for a mix (with a tracklist), and this mix had to contain some Jumpstyle anthems. After scrolling through a few (without a tracklist) I stumbled across this mix by DJ Henk. God knows who DJ Henk is, because I don't. His last mix on Soundcloud was 9 years ago, so I'm guessing he stopped Doing, or lost access to his account, or used another alias. Who knows. If anyone knows DJ Henk, tell him that it's been too long, and we need more Jumpstyle mixes. Until then, let's focus on one of the seven mixes he uploaded nearly a decade ago. So, let's see what DJ Henk used for this 2012 Jumpstyle mix. If you are reading this, it must mean you are a Jumpstyle fan too, and miss the sound as much as I do. So this mix might be a flashback to the glorious anthems which one day dominated the charts. As the style disappeared quicker than you can imagine, there's not enough time for me to go into detail on how much I have missed when it was hot. And therefore this mix contains records I've never heard before. Here's the list: Lethal MG - Voices Of E (Q Ic Remix) DJ Dess - R8 Fuzzy Hair & AM feat Joe Taff - Mad World (Juno's Remix) Marlon S vs DJ Mars - Slammin' & Jammin' Teka B - Scratching DJ Karl F - Lies Davoodi - 9mm Bad Boyz - Jump Up! DJ Ba Back & Greg Kalas - Fuck The Poing Darius, Finaly & Shaun Baker - Show Me 10 (Jenns O Jumpstyle Mix) For A Jumper - For An Angel Lobotomy Inc. - Sliced Beat Mark With A K - How To Read CM Traxx - Needle Destruction (Lethal MG Bootleg) Demoniak & Jones - Hello (Bootleg) Yes yes yes! It might be a tad cheesy, but oh so delicious! I always say that it's a sound from the Millennium, but Jumpstyle really increased popularity around 2005. And I'm so happy I lived when it was big and hot. Why, you might ask? Well, because it brings a huge smile on my face. Memories galore. I do love myself a bit of cheese, unless it's too cheesy, and I have to literally turn stuff off. Thankfully Henk did not play too cheesy stuff, but 'For An Angel' is cheesy, and so is 'Hello', and maybe a bit 'Mad World' too. To me the darker stuff is more appealing. Especially Lobotomy Inc.'s 'Sliced Beat'. That's some underground Techno sounding Jumpstyle. Me like. A very nice mix. Thanks Henk for this mix. A few tiny mixing errors, but nothing major. And also a trip down memory lane. Loving it! - Charlotte de Witte - Exclusive Mary Go Wild Podcast (2017)
When someone says Mary Go Wild, I always think of the Grooveyard anthem from 1996. Do you remember that one? Obviously you might not know who was behind Grooveyard (it was Secret Cinema), but you must certainly know the song. But besides that, I know nothing about Mary Go Wild. Seen a lot of publicity on social media lately (with DJ Gizmo's book release)... and that's a shame. I do feel ashamed not knowing the history of this Mary Go Wild. And who the hell came up with that name? Mary must feel so proud, having something named after her? All jokes aside, I don't know much but for a strange reason, the name stuck in my head. And when I saw that they had a Soundcloud channel, I decided to check what they had to offer. And they've got quite the selection. If you are into Dance music, they can surely provide you with enough music to keep you going. And one of those mixes was made back in 2017 by the Belgian Queen of Techno: Charlotte de Witte. Obviously the reason behind this mix was because she had one of her EPs released on Mary Go Wild Black label. So not only did we get an EP by this legend, but also an hour and a half long mix. Back in 2017 they mentioned that she is one of our future Techno Queens, and they weren't lying. I could be absolutely wrong, but isn't she currently the biggest name in the Techno scene? So which records did she select for this mix? Well, if you aren't one of the 16,3k+ listeners so far, here's the tracklist: Markus Suckut - First Movement (Original Mix) Charlotte de Witte - Lost (Original Mix) Charlotte de Witte - Look Around You (Original Mix) Alchemyst - Lucy (Moerbeck Remix) Rolando - Time To Jack (Marcel Dettman Remix) Charlotte de Witte - Voices Of The Ancient (Black Asteroid Remix) Patrick Siech - 1133 (Original Mix) SLV - Connections (Original Mix) Ness - Hololoop (Original Mix) Christian Wunsch - Chemical Reactions (Original Mix) Charlotte de Witte - Voices Of The Ancient (Original Mix) Avgusto - 0009 (Original Mix) Cosmin TRG - In Your Body (Original Mix) Gary Beck - Video Sirens (Original Mix) Vidrik - Tenebrionid (Ketch Remix) Ritzi Lee - Above Is Below (Original Mix) Amotik - Ath (Original Mix) I loved this mix! I know I've heard a Charlotte de Witte mix before, but every time I find a new one, it always make me slightly happier. And this one is extremely dark, edgy, and yet tremendously exciting to listen to. Back in 2017 she might have been working her way to the top, but now she has reached the pinnacle of her work: the top. The undisputed Queen of Techno. I really enjoyed this mix, and Charlotte's selection. Love her own productions, but also the other records she had selected. Most people are getting excited for football, but I'm excited to hear this mix yet again. I've favourited it for the last few days, and have been going back to it, listening to it over and over. Such a solid mix. I wanted to say that her records are the best in this mix, but sadly, the best has got to be 'Lucy', remixed by Moerbeck, made by Alchemyst. What a dark record. I completely loose myself in this record. I close my eyes, and I'm in the darker depths of hell! I am experiencing the ultimate feeling a Techno lover can get; ultimate satisfaction. Love this record! A solid mix.If you aren't into football, why not just check out Mary Go Wild's Soundcloud channel: lots of music, lots of excellent mixes. Oh, and while you are doing that, why not pay the Queen's Soundcloud channel a visit? Also hours of pure pleasure! - DJ Promo XX-clusive Files Set Live @ Thunderdome 15-12-2012
It's Friday, and a long weekend is ahead. And I need something to get me through the last hours of this already hectic Friday. Hence why I am here, reviewing a Hardcore set. And it's a set you will really appreciate: DJ Promo, at Thunderdome 2012. A.k.a. the Final Exam. Was it really the last? Was it a good marketing stunt, to get everyone hyped up, and all ready for the final time? If it was, it was certainly a good marketing stunt. But just looking at the line-up, it would have sold out anyway, be it the last or not. Neophyte, Endymion, Partyraiser, Noize Supporessor, Drokz, Buzz Fuzz, The Stunned Guys, Dano, The Darkraver, Waxweazle, Ophidian, Tieum, Dither, Radium, Dr. Peacock, Akira, The Prophet, Gizmo, Weirdo, and many, many more. The perfect line-up. and it would have been paradise for me. I would have found it difficult deciding who to see and when, because there are so many great names. But a Promo set was near the top of my list (if I would have gone). Especially his legendary Promo Files. He had 30 minutes, and in those 30 minutes he gave us the finest anthems from the long lost era..... Obviously the internet is full of Promo sets, and why did I choose this one? Well, it's a short one, 30 minutes long, and it's jam packed with Promo Files songs. And I know what you are thinking, 'but haven't we heard them all already a gazillion times?'. And my responds would be 'so what?'. You can literally listen to this any day of the year, and it would make you happy, but only if you are a true Hardcore fanatic. If you are, pat yourself on the shoulders, you have earned a gabber handshake, and a hand on your bald head. You sir/madam, are a legend. A gabber. A raveteef. But now, let's focus on the songs selected by Promo. These are the ones: Promo - What The Fuck?! Promo & X-Cess - Vicious Circle Promo - Up Yours Promo - I Come Correct Promo - My Underground Madness Promo - Patterns In Chaos Promo - Driven By Instinct Promo - The Bad Guys Promo - Escape From The Hostile Promo - King Of Pain Promo - Life From The Other Side Promo - Brother Of Conflict Promo - Running Against The Rules G-Shock - Demons (Promo Remix) Promo - Phreak Ya Speaka Come on, let's not have a discussion. If you a true Hardcore fanatic, you know all of these records. And you might love them all. Not saying that you should. But you have to acknowledge that these tracks have been an important factor in our glorious Hardcore history. And Promo has done a lot for the raving community. Yes, they might have been played at every event all over the world, but that's just the power behind the Files. Timeless classics by one amazing DJ and producer. For many years now he's one of my favourite DJs and producers. I think that I even stumbled across him when he was a 'junior' in the scene. When I heard 'Punanny'. by Section-8 and Promo's 'Shut Up', I knew he was something special. And many CDs later I am still a huge fan of his music. His Millennium sound just remains boss music. You can enlighten a party by just playing anything by this DJ, and you know the room will blow the fuck up. That's the impact this DJ has. Even in 2021. It's nice to hear this mix. Really gold stuff. You know that if you ever want to get that Millennium buzz within a second, you just search for a Promo mix. And this is yet another amazing set by him at a legendary event. The last Thunderdome (*ahum*) ... Best song? 'Brother Of Conflict'. Simply amazing record. Get this set down you right now.
