  • DJ Jedi 1993-1997 Happy Hardcore Mix ‘Lost DAT’ 2003?

The world is celebrating the Queen's Jubilee, and what am I doing? Well, I'm celebrating the fact that in the 90s a new kind of music emerged, which grabbed my attention from the start, and still to this day holds its value. The music style in question? Happy Hardcore. The sound I adore and still to this day appreciate. The sound I grew up with. Yes, during the 90s it was mostly Hardcore/Gabber and Happy Hardcore, and they both are close to my heart, but the happier side of Hardcore always remained one of my favourite styles. And DJ Jedi's mix is one you will need to sit down for, and appreciate. Happy Hardcore can sometimes be completely ignored. In the UK it was big, and so in Europe, but it's sometimes looked at in a different way. And I'm not saying it's the best style out there, but it's certainly in the top 5 of my all time favourite styles. I grew up with it, and it was part of my youth. I raved the night away in my bedroom. I still find it a very interesting style to listen to, especially as my influence was mostly European Happy Hardcore, NOT UK Happy Hardcore. So I'm still discovering new music every so often. So DJ Jedi. I know him from his Breakbeat Hardcore mixes, but it seems he's a man who can do everything. This mix, found on a DAT, was probably made around 2003, only a handful of years after the inevitable death of Happy Hardcore. And it's a nice mixture of both Dutch and UK sounding Happy Hardcore songs. You'll know what I mean once you have a look at the tracklist. And here's the tracklist: NRG - I Need Your Love Orca - 4AM Bass Selective - Blow Out Part 2 Jack 'N Phil - Unity The Dok - Your Love Naughty Naughty - Volume 5 (Side A) Ramos & Supreme - Sunshine (The Pa Kua Mix) Dougal & Vibes - Dance With Me Jimmy J & Cru-L-T - Take Me Away (Slipmatt Remix) Vibes & Wishdokta - Feel Good Jimmy J & Cru-L-T - Six Days DJ Seduction - So In Love (Vibes & Wishdokta Remix) DJ Seduction - Samplemania JDS - Higher Love (Slipmatt Remix) Silk Cuts - Volume 6 (Side A) Force & Styles - Pretty Green Eyes 4 Tune Fairytales - My Little Fantasy (Special Edition Remix) Brisk & Trixxy - Eyeopener DJ Paul Elstak - Don't Leave Me Alone It's a nice mixture of both UK and European Hardcore. A few all time classics in here, like Paul Elstak's song, DJ Seduction's 'Samplemania', and more. But to, the all time favourite, has to be the JDS 'Higher Love' song, remixed by the Godfather of Happy Hardcore himself, Slipmatt. This version still remains one of my, if not my all time favourite Happy Hardcore songs. It's a classic, and still packs a punch, many years after its release. DJ Jedi's mix is highly entertaining, and a tad diverse. I have to say it's nicely mixed, but... yes, there's a but. I'm not fond of a few version. But don't let that throw you off. It's personal, nothing else. For example, I do like the 'My Little Fantasy', but the Bass-D & King Matthew remix. Same applies to 'Pretty Green Eyes'. I do find the original version a bit bland. It needs a bit of spice. Maybe a bit more cheese. But they still take me back to my youth, these 'normal' versions. A nice mix. If it's from 2003, we don't know. Hell, even DJ Jedi doesn't know. Whenever this was made, it's stood the test of time. Happy or not, who cares? Take a trip back to the glorious Breakbeat filled Happy Hardcore, and smile the night away!!! • Back To The Hardcore (2022)

This new Gabber/Hardcore sound is appearing more and more online. And I'm liking it more and more. As I've been an advocate for making this style bigger and bigger, it seems that it's gained some momentum, and that's good. It's not as big as Gabber/Hardcore used to be, or as big as mainstream Hardcore is, but it is slowly getting there. And I'm really happy that this is happening. It honours the old Gabber/Hardcore sound from the 90s, but with a 20s approach to it. And that is a formula that should work. And hopefully it will gain more fans, it deserves a bigger stage. J.O.E. has made mixes like this one before, and only recently did I review his 'Future Gabber' mix. Was it called Future Gabber' or something similar. But the focus was similar. The tracks were all 'new' but had this distinctive 90s sound. A sound sorely missed. Whenever I do find a mix that focusses on this new Gabber, I have to listen to it, but I can't keep still. I have to share it with you, the reader. You cannot deny that this revival of 90s Hardcore/Gabber is a thing, and it's growing in popularity. And because of J.O.E. I am now listening to this instead of focussing on what's happening in the UK. The Jubilee is important and is one in a lifetime, but to me music is more important. The wife can fill me in on everything that is currently broadcasted... (not that I'm that interested, but she will share with me all the info... that's how she is). So for now, let's focus on J.O.E.'s latest mix, and the tracks. Which tracks, you might ask? Well, these: Arvid - Delivered From Evil Painbringer - Share Your Pain Gabberf#%ker - Dying Of The Light Wicked XXX - The Underground Biodome - Pump Up The Volume Painbringer - Words Of '95 (Gabber Remix) X4phantom & DJ A.D. - Make The Floor Burn Gabberf#%ker - Utopia Wicked XXX - The Miranda Moon X4phantom & DJ A.D. - Can't Stop Wicked XXX - Danga X-Fly - Pass The Old Painbringer - Sidious Wicked XXX - Timetripping X-Fly - I'm Juggernaut, Bit$h B.S.E. - Suckaz X-Fly - Do You Have Static? Gabberf#%ker - Unjustified Terror James F - Give Me A Guitar Gabberf#%ker - Mr Hydrochloric Acid Wicked XXX - Ruffer X-Fly - Motherf#%king Now The Ctrl & Recharge - Take It Down Low Painbringer - The Religion Arvid - Heartbreak Kamikaze - Spiritual Awakening X4phantom & DJ A.D. - Bass And Flow Gabberf#%ker - Testing More Bombs Hellfish & Diplomat - The Acid We Praise The Bloody Deamon & DJ A.D. - I'm A Freak Painbringer - Afterglor Biodome - Make It Clap The DJ Producer - 100 Years Of Deathchant (The Deathchant Will Never Die 100 Megamix) Ferra & GreenSequence - Never Too Much This is a good looking tracklist, but what you should be focussing on, is the music. And the music takes me right back to the 90s. Close your eyes, and let J.O.E. take you back to the present day that represents the 90s. That doesn't make really 100% sense, but to me it does. The tunes are solid as a fucking rock. I love to see these tracks get more momentum, and get played more and more. This style is surely one that the raving community need to hear, and gain traction. I am really in love with this new kind of Gabber, and J.O.E.'s mixes are really, really entertaining. Worth checking out. Some small mixing errors, but nothing to write home about. So come on, what are you waiting for? Check this out, and check it out right NOW! Best record? It has to be B.S.E.'s 'Suckaz'. DJ: J.O.E. • Bonkers #17: Rebooted (2007)

Today is the first day of a long bank holiday weekend ahead. We are to celebrate the Queen's amazing job of being so many years on the throne, so in honour of her Majesty, let's take a trip back in time, not 70 years, but 15 years ago. Do we all remember where we were when Bonkers 17: Rebooted got released? Did you purchase this album when it was new? Were you one of those Bonkers fanatics who literally purchased each and every one of them? And what's your opinion of this CD series' death in 2009? This mixed CD series was legendary, and many mixes are to be found online, commemorating them, and basically people screaming for a revival of the series. A bit like the Hardcore Heaven series. The people at HU took ownership of it, and brought it back to life. Wouldn't that be a possibility for the Bonkers series? Would that work? Or would it be a disappointment? What would you think? When I was still living in the Netherlands, I purchased many of these CDs. Some came all the way from Australia, and some directly from the UK. I've spent a good amount of Euros on this series, and still to this day I hold it close to my heart: this series made me fall in love with UK Hardcore even more. Yes, it's not the first CD I've ever purchased that had UK Hardcore on it, but it's certainly an important one. But sadly it never grabbed anyone's attention in the Netherlands. They weren't ready for UK Hardcore (and still aren't). The series had some big names mixing the CDs, and let me name all of them: Hixxy, Sharkey, Dougal, Sy, Vibes, Scott Brown, Breeze, Styles, Re-Con, Marc Smith, Neophyte, Gammer, CLSM, Kutski, Brisk, Ham, Kevin Energy, Chris Unknown... that's a big list of names. They all made an appearance, some on multiple occasions, some on nearly every disc (Hixxy and Sharkey, the originators of this series). For me this series is important to the UK Hardcore fanatics, and shows the growth of the scene. It started back in 1996, and continued up until 2009. I was never a huge fan of the early UK Hardcore/Happy Hardcore sound, but roughly around the seventh CD I got hooked. There have been some amazing CDs after number 7, and the one I'm about to review, has to be one of my favourite, or even my all-time favourite. Bonkers 12. 13, 16, and Best Of Bonkers. Those are all the finest of the finest, but 17 was the right CD at the right time for me. To me it's the best disc, highlighting the scene being at its all time peak. The music screamed quality, and it had found its core audience. And it surely lost it when the 18th CD was released (that was a bit of a bummer). 2007 was a really good year, with a lot of wicked songs. You might have a different vision on this, and that's fine. But remember, I'm an outsider. I only joined the Hardcore scene when it was already reaching for the stars, when it was bigger than it ever was. And this was around 2002-2003. For the '07 edition they had Brisk & Ham, Sharkey & Kevin Energy, and Scott Brown & Marc Smith. At the time three amazing duos. If they did a fourth CD, it should have been Dougal & Gammer. Hell, they could have done a fifth CD too, and give it to Sy & Unknown. Those were the creme de la creme. Oh I miss them a lot. Why does time move forward? I fucking hate it. Wish we could go back to '07 and enjoy the music again. Oh wait, we can!!! It's called YouTube! Or blowing off the dust of your collection, and relive the moment again. Close your eyes and pretend to be dancing the night away, and hearing these tunes blasting through the speakers at your favourite event/club. This edition was made up of three discs, and each disc had the best of the best tunes on it. And I'm not fucking joking. Have a look at this tracklist: DISC 1 : Brisk & Ham Brisk & Vagabond vs Uraken - Tokyo Rush Brisk & Vagabond vs MC Wotsee - The Last Word Ham & DMO - Every Single Day Uplift, Sc@r & Vicky Fee - One DJ Stormtrooper feat MC Knight - Hardcore Raver Druid & Stormtrooper feat Kirsty - Electrified Brisk & Vagabond feat Lisa Marie - Free Ham & DMO - In Your Eyes Fracus - Snowstorm Ham & DMO - This Emotion Sharkey - My Everything (Ham Remix) Euphoria feat MC Wotsee & Tess - Final Goodbye Drew Derivative - Rock Da Groove DJ Fracus feat Ali - Your Guiding Light Scott Brown - Roll The Track (Gammer Remix) Eclipse - Hearts Desire (Brisk & Vagabond Remix) Brisk & Vagabond - Lift Me Up Joey Riot vs Davey Forbes - Rock The Dancefloor Ham feat MC Casper - Detonate The Sound DJ Kurt - World Domination Brisk & Ham - Step 2 Da Flaw (Bonkers VIP Mix) Brisk & Vagabond - Night & Days (Joey Riot 2007 Remix) Brisk & Vagabond - Mental Mission Nerve Centre - Get Busier Darwin & Obie feat Mr E - Hits You Like Thunder Thian Brodie - Beat Master The Wishmaster - Pump Up The Pressure Bodylotion - Neighbourhood Crime (Tha Playah Remix) i DISC 2: Sharkey & Kevin Energy Sharkey - Today's The Day K90 - Red Snapper (K Complex vs ADT Remix) Darwin - Peak 1.1 Sharkey - My Everything Kevin Energy - Tribal Resistance (Rave Mix) Firefly - Dimensions Alek Szahala - Alanamra (Arkitech Remix) Lost Soul - Taking Over Me Infinite Dimensions feat Ephexis - Krater Darwin & Entity - The End Of Time Vibes vs Splash - Techno Wonderland 2007 Mister Stewart & Barry Diston - 7 Colours Sharkey feat Lisa Abbott - Bonkers Anthem Arkitech & Double Decka - I May Be Dreaming MDA and Spherical vs DJ GRH - Illusion (Splash Remix) Darwin - Coral Beach Nick Xero, Arkitech & Douglas - Hardcore Junkie Robbie Long & Stormtrooper - Acid Man Freeza - Virtual Darkness S3RL - Weekend Ham - Bass Kiks Arkitech - De Humanise 2007 Robbie Long & AMS feat Ethos - Wakey Wakey (Orbit1 Remix) Darwin & Obie - Futureshock Sharkey & Arkitech - Quadraphinix DISC 3: Scott Brown & Marc Smith Scott Brown - Enlightened (DJ Weaver Remix) Fracus - I Can't Stand It Sean Apollo & DMO - I Can Feel You Now Fonzarelli - Moonlight Party (DJ Kurt Remix) Scott Brown & Kelly C - Hold You In My Arms Robbie Long & Stormtrooper - Nasty Time Scott Brown - Do It Like We Do (Al Storm Mix) Al Storm, Mike Euphony & Donna Marie - Runawau (Exclusive Bonkers Mix) Darwin vs Rampant feat Ant Johnson - No More Darwin - Floor Damage DJ Weaver & DMO - Paradise Scott Brown & DMO - Fall Into Your Arms Joey Riot - Party Alarm Firsky & Hujib - Get Away (Gammer Remix) Weaver & Andy L feat Fran - Cannonball (Scott Brown Mix) Scott Brown - Livewired DJ Marc Smith & Gammer - You Can Dance DJ Marc Smith - Let It Hit Em Brisk & Vagabond - Environmental Product Men Of Steel - The Future Is Ours (Panic & Tha Playah Remix) Hard Creation - I Will Have That Power (The Stunned Guys Remix) This is my porn. This is my guilty pleasure. Whenever I feel down, I put these three CDs on, and I instantaneously become happy. Certain CDs do have that kind of power. You know when you put them on, you are in a different world all together. Nothing is real anymore, and the world around you just disappears into thin air. And this, Bonkers 17, gets me back in time. Back to the glorious late 2000s UK Hardcore years. The best year (for me) for UK Hardcore was certainly 2007, right? Just imagine being alive in 2007. Some kids are even too young to have been alive then. But imagine. Buying this CD, with 6 of the finest DJs on it. You couldn't wish for anything more. This was the ultimate purchase, the best of the best. And all 6 DJs gave it their all. Not just mixing this together, but also making a few of these songs. All three discs contain the finest UK Hardcore/Freeform anthems available, and all did a remarkable job. I cannot pick one favourite disc, as they were all lit. But I'll be able to find a favourite song on each disc. Here it goes; - Disc One: the first song, 'Tokyo Rush'. Such a wicked song to start the disc with! - Disc Two: Lost Soul 'Taking Over Me'. Dark and edgy, just the way I like my Freeform - Disc Three: 'Moonlight Party' remixed by Kurt. Fuck me, what a masterful remix! These are just the best of the best. If aliens would land on this Earth, and they wanted to know what UK Hardcore was/is, I would hand them this CD. I wouldn't hesitate. UK Hardcore was at its all time peak, and I remember being extremely delighted, hearing new music. I purchased a lot of CDs and had them shipped to NL, and whenever a new CD came out and I heard it for the first time, it blew me away, and made me happier. Yeah, for sure, 2007 was the best year. Do you agree of disagree? Which Bonkers CD was your favourite, and why? Leave a comment below! And do you think it needs to be brought back to life, or leave it the way it is? • Impact Records Tribute Mix (2022)

I do love the 90s, and keep finding new bits and bobs every day. I like to learn and explore the hidden gems, and today's mix is one that's focussed on a label created back in 1992 by the legendary DJ and producer Seduction. It was originally a UK Breakbeat Hardcore label, but around 1994 it started to shift to more Happy Hardcore music. I've not come across any dedication mixes before, so it's all new to me. The tunes however, which you can find in this mix by DJ Virus, are known to me. Not all of them, but most of them. Checking the tracklist and what I see is something special for you all. If you haven't checked this mix yet, you should. DJ Virus is back with yet another epic and awesome mix, and he's done an amazing job: he's filled this mix with so many anthems, unbelievable. The dedication to make this work is truly admiring. The tunes speak for themselves, but just to make a mix sound so smooth... he gets my appraisal. The last few mixes I've found on his Soundcloud channel are epic, and I favourite a lot of them lately, since I discovered him on this social platform. He's not disappointed me yet, and today's mix isn't one that will go down as a bad mix. It's the opposite. I am a sucker for Breakbeat and Happy Hardcore, and just by looking at the tracklist you know what's in store: 77 minutes of pure pleasure. Without further ado, let me show you the songs he used for this mix, and you can then decide if it's as good as my description of it, or even better... Seduction - Let The Rhythm Take Control DJ's Unite - Volume 2 Seduction - On My Own Seduction - Is This Real Seduction - Cuckoo In The Jungle DJ's Unite - Volume 3 Seduction - Move Ya Body DJ's Unite - Bass Penetrates Static Substance - Follow My Beat Seduction - Sub Dub Seduction - You Can Dance Static Substance - Ghetto People The Godfather - Look To The Light Seduction - Live Together (SL2 Remix) Static Substance - Happiness Seduction - Technoid Inspiration Point - What Do I Do Seduction - Really Dark (But Not Too Dark Mix) Mystic & Fire - True Love Overdubb - Eruption Seduction - So In Love (Happy Stomp Mix) Seduction - Drop The Bass Seduction & Dougal - Better Day Seduction - Can U Feel It (94 Revival Mix) Seduction - Samplemania Edit V - Burning Love Eruption - Just A Feeling Edit V - Sensation Euphoria - Euphoria Sy & Unknown - Let The Bass Kick Eruption - Nicey (Remix) Sy & Unknown - Sudden Impact Euphoria - Show Me Your Love Vibes & Wishdokta - Destiny Pooch - Feeling This Way Seduction - Holding On Pooch - Warrior Beat Seduction - Itch It Up Edit V - Pumper Seduction - Imagination Pooch - How It Started Force & Styles - Down To Love Seduction - Step To The Side Seduction & Eruption - Bust The New Jam (Hard Mix) Seduction & Billy Daniel Bunter - Hop On The Dancefloor Seduction & Dougal - It's Not Over (Remix) DNA - Dance With Somebody Edit V - DJ's Mixing Seduction - Here It Comes (Hardcore Heaven Mix) Sy & Seduction - Rushing Seduction - In The Mix (Brisk Remix) Seduction - Never Let You Go Oh, my fingers hurt right now. That's one amazing tracklist, but a freaking pain in the rectum to type. But it's worth it: I needed to share this with you all. If you are into 90s Breakbeat and Happy Hardcore stuff you will certainly need to hear this mix. Experience it with your own ears, and hear how good it sounds. DJ Virus does what he does best, and created this epic mix. 77 minute of pure madness, most of them DJ Seduction records, but still highly enjoyable. These tracks might be older than 20 years, but they still sound fresh and fit in the present day extremely well. I was going to say quality over quantity, but there's certainly a shit ton of these records in this mix, so quantity is present too. But it's not the amount of records, it's all about what it does to the listeners. And personally, this mix ticked all the right boxes. I am sitting here, delighted, and happy as Larry (whoever this Larry person is). I've enjoyed going back in time, to the 90s, and hearing those familiar and recognisable piano bits, breaks, and pitched up vocals. I am in awe, and loving the vibes. Nothing negative to report. Only love and appreciation from my side. It's hit after hit. And from these 52 I cannot pick one favourite. I simply cannot. It's a daunting task I shall not embark on. It's too damn difficult. • Pdevil @ Slapen Is Voor Mietjes (31-03-2019)

Afterparties. Are they still a big thing as they were back in the 90s/early 2000s? I'm not at an age where I cannot even stay awake throughout a whole event, so an afterparty is certainly not for me, even though I admire the people who go to after parties, especially when it's after a huge event such as Masters Of Hardcore. Back in 2019 they organised an afterparty straight after MoH ended, and the event is called... ermm.. don't know if I should translate that into English, because it's not an appropriate name. Sleeping is for ..... You fill it in yourself, use Google translate to find out the answer... The afterparty seemed to continue later than I would expect an party to last. Imagine having raved throughout the night, and then to party until 2pm! Bravo to those who did exactly that. I could not even imagine the state these people would be in at 2pm. But hey, at least the music kept them awake: Hardcore all the way through. And the line-up might look interesting, I only know two names on the whole list, and those are The Lethal Sound and Pdevil. Never had the chance to hear or see them live, but at least we've got the internet to keep us entertained, right? The set I'm talking about, was Pdevil's set from back in 2019. He had an hour to get the people going, and making sure they didn't fall asleep. Because sleeping is for .... you know what. He had an hour, and played the finest 'unknown' new Gabber and Hardcore anthems, to please the fans/listeners. It's so damn cool, this new Gabber sound. This is more interesting to me instead of the present day mainstream Hardcore. Give me New Gabber all day, every day. So which tracks did he use? Well, these: Nemesix - The Third Relevation Rodox Trading - Dangerous Arjuna & The CTRL - The Bigger They Come Pdevil & Kritec - Dead Lines Immutek - Sensorineural Enemycore909 - Inferno Lenz - What's Going On In Your Mind ID - ID Resonant Squad - Resonance Lazy Ann - Don't Mess With Me Undunn & Speedy Lô - Back In Time ID - ID Fiasco Project - Bizar Immutek - Breaking Eardrums TotenKore & Pardonax - The Change Casketkrusher & Redlock - Suck Pdevil - The Devil Returned (2019 Refix) Pdevil - Surrounded By Hellfire Hellcreator - Winterstorm (Xearo Remix) Undunn - Escaping The Dreamworld Maarten - Untitled 5 Paranoizer - Uit Je Dak (The Destroyer Remix) Previous mix I reviewed had a tracklist which I knew each and every artist in it, but to be fair, it wasn't hard: it was Scott Brown or one of his million aliases. In this Pdevil mix I only know a handful of producers. But it's all about the strength of the music they made, not the artist themselves, right? So let's focus on what Pdevil brought to the table. I can imagine people being extremely tired during this set, but Pdevil did his best and turned it into a power hour. I've been listening to this mix over and over, and have highly enjoyed myself. The tracks are solid, and maintain this 90s vibe in each and every one of the songs. I really like the vibes, and like the fact that it's taking me back in time, but it was only made recently. A cool liveset, worth checking out. And many have already, as it's at 10.3k+ listens already. A lot of people seem to like this New Gabber sound, and you can count me in. This is unique, distinctive and yet so recognisable. You can hear the old Hardcore influences in each and every track, And I freaking admire that! Anyone who tries to keep the oldskool sound alive will receive my respect. And Pdevil's set is certainly a freaking dope one, mad respect for that! • Dj Graeme Smith - Scott Brown Evolution Competition Mix (2020)

The UK is about to have an extremely long weekend ahead. Only a few more hours of sleep, and most of us will be experiencing a 4 day weekend. Thanks Queen Elizabeth for granting us that added day due to you being on the throne for 70 years! Amazing. To start these celebrations, let's listen to a mix, which was a competition mix, focussed on the UK Hardcore King himself and his label: Scott Brown and his Evolution Records. You might be wondering what the similarities are between our Queen and King Scott Brown? Both have been ruling this country for donkeys years! They are both rulers, and we all know it. Even though Scott's face doesn't appear on our coins or his name doesn't appear on our post boxes, his importance can be felt throughout the UK, and also the rest of the world! Scott Brown has been a busy boy since the early 90s. And even up to this date he's been doing his thing. And that thing is producing wicked anthems. This mix, made by Graeme Smith, was a competition mix, and it's filled with anthems by the man himself. And when I say filled, I do mean filled. An hour long mix with 19 of the finest Scott Brown produced tracks. Be it under his normal name or one of his many aliases. I don't know much about this competition, or who won this competition, but it's always good to find these mixes. This could be the right mix for you all to get the long weekend started? I've been listening to this since 6am, and it been on repeat ever since. It's certainly a good mix to start your working day with. Or start a gym session with? This could give you enough power to hit the dumbbells or hit the cross trainer. Whatever it is you do in the gym is up to you. So let me show you the records Graeme selected for his competition entry mix. Scott Brown feat Kelly C - Need You In My Arms Scott Brown feat Cat Knight - All About You Scott Brown - Fly With You Q-Tex - Power Of Love 2001 Scott Brown - Elysium Plus Scott Brown - Memories (Plus System Remix) Plus System - Neckbreaker Hardcore Authority - Definition Of A Badboy Plus System - Blue Anthem Plus System - Commence Scott Brown - Taking Drugs? Plus System - Do It Like We Do Plus System - This Is How We Do It Scott Brown vs Hyperbass - I Became Hardcore Lord Of Hardcore - Crushed Testes Scott Brown - Now Is The Time 2001 Scott Brown - Rock That Body Bass Reaction - Technophobia (Power Mix) Scott Brown vs Hyperbass - Life Or Death A solid tracklist with a shit ton of wicked Scott Brown produced anthems. Is he the ultimate Hardcore King? Some might have the title Godfather of Hardcore, but King sounds much better. Ask Lizzie, she knows. To me he's definitely an important influence in both UK Hardcore and the Dutch Hardcore scene, and has remained respected by audiences all over the world. Again, I don't know the outcome of this competition, but surely Graeme's mix was in the top 3, he must have been a finalist? It's a solid mix, with a bit of scratching here and there too, just to spice things up. But his track selection is excellent, and it's nicely mixed together. Yes, he's picked one of the worst UK Hardcore anthems of all time too, but can't blame people playing 'Do It Like We Do'. Some find it a good anthem, I'd rather hear Justin Bieber's 'Baby' on repeat for the rest of my life. But all serious now: he's made a wicked mix. He's got a lot of big anthems in here, including 'Blue Anthem', 'Neckbreaker', 'Elysium Plus', but I had to pick 'Taking Drugs?' as my favourite. The most and catchiest Hardcore anthem of all time. One of my most favourite UK Hardcore anthems ever made! If anyone entered this competition and knows the outcome, that would be cool to share: leave a comment below. • JAKAZiD @ Vibe Tribe VR 27-05-2022

VR and UK Hardcore. Is that the future of raving? Is that us, in the near future? Wearing silly VR things on our head, raving in our bedroom/living room? It's a cool concept, don't get me wrong, but raving should always happen at events, wherever they are held. Not in VR. Unless COVID comes back. If that is the future, then I would support it. But for now, I need to hear, feel, and experience a night out. Thinking about it, raving in the comfort of your own home sounds good too! No more stumbling back to the hotel after a sesh, no more queueing for the toilet, no more waiting for anything; everything is within reach. And if you are tired, you can dive straight into your own bed. Come to think about it, it seems more and more appealing.... count me in! JAKAZiD uploaded his latest set on Soundcloud, and it was this event called VRChat Sound Empire 56 @ Vibe Tribe VR. That's a lot of VR in just a short sentence. But that's going to be the future, and it's cool to see people adapting to what's coming. JAKAZiD played in VR. Yeah, it might be a tad weird, but it's still an achievement. How many of you DJs out there can say the same? The reason why I follow JAKAZiD is because his music is dope, and his mixes too. Extremely diverse. A bit of everything, from all over the world. I wouldn't call myself a UK Hardcore expert, but I do know a lot about it, but looking at this tracklist made me even wonder who these artists are. So many unknown names, but it's time for me to dive into the unknown, and see what the World has to offer, UK Hardcore-wise. M-Project feat MC Stone - Midnight Riders nadeco feat MC KCD a.k.a. Xystran - We Are Slave For VRChat (JAKAZiD Remix) Savogy x Pete Cannon - Dream It Back (JAKAZiD Mashup) rejection & Aiyru - Time Loss Fracus - I Got This Kaivaan feat TOFIE - Soothe Your Soul (Meryo Lee Remix) snarewaves - Capsule Cowboy Push - Strange World (DJ Testicle Booty Trance Mix) M-Neko vs Joshka - Cyberia The Place To Be! Mameyudoufu - Variables DJ ZET - Like A Dreamer Riku - SSR (Super Sugoi Rave) Maozon - Aetherize Ichii - Time Is Up JAKAZiD - Under The Moonlight Dy5on - Sun Is Shining Agnes Tachyon - Lightless (Assertive Hardcore Bootleg) TANUKI - BABYBABY の夢 (JAKAZiD's Futurebouncecorefunk Edit) YUKIYANAGI - Where Are You Now JAKAZiD - Eardrumz DJ Red Alert & Mike Slammer - You Are The One (JAKAZiD Bootleg) S2i8 - Break It polyscream - PLANET WITH. P&K - Soundclash 3-1-3 This is what I mean! To me this tracklist contains so many 'unknowns', but once you hear JAKAZiD's set, you know it all doesn't matter, it's all about the music. But it's cool though, to compose a tracklist with new and exciting names. I need to expand my musical knowledge a bit more, and these names are added to my list. He takes you on a journey through the wonderful world of not just UK Hardcore, but Happy Hardcore, a bit of Breakbeat, Drum and Bass, and more. He keeps you on your toes, be it in your living room with a VR headset on. But he still keeps the entertainment level way up high. The music keeps on coming, and there's no stopping of JAKAZiD. I've been listening to this mix from 6am, and it's been on non stop. At the end of the mix he even puts a lot of force into it, and end with a seriously filthy anthem. But to me there are three records the best: the last one. JAKAZiD's own record 'Under The Moonlight' and 'DJ ZET's' Like A Dreamer'. Those three stayed in my head extremely long. Catchy as fuck, and I love it! Loved this diverse mix. I really did. More of this please. • Next Generation Records [Mixed By M@rt!n-J] (2022)

Monday has arrived, and now it's about to get even more hectic. The first review of today was a Hardstyle/Rawstyle mix, but now I'm taking it back to my roots. The reason I started blogging 12 years+ ago. UK Hardcore. When I started, the music scene was completely different, and the sound was even more different, if you compare it to the present day sound. So to go back in time to the tunes released between 1997 and 2011 is always a blessing. And of course the man M@rt!n-J is the one who uploaded this mix yesterday. Next Generation Records were an important and influential label in the UK Hardcore scene, and have given us so many memorable tunes. The label, run by both Brisk and Ham, was so successful, they ventured into the podcast world, and that's when I grew more in love with the label and the music they released. I even purchased a few CDs from the mighty Brisk himself, with a special autograph too. I was (and still am) a NGR fan. And that sound is seriously missed, and sometimes underestimated. Many big names have had releases on this label, including Brisk, Ham, Trixxy, Stormtrooper, Fracus, DMO, Vagabond, Euphoria, Gammer, Joey Riot, Bang!, Demo, and many more. I also just discovered how many aliases were used by Brisk and Ham, and it's astonishing! Obviously M@rt!n-J couldn't put all their releases on here in this one mix, but he selected 15 of the finest tracks. And you will love them. Yes, it's mainly Brisk and Ham, but is that a bad thing? I would say 'no', because who doesn't love this legendary duo? Brisk & Ham - Crazy Love 2008 Brisk & Vagabond - Gonna Blind You Brisk & Vagabond feat Lisa Marie - Free Brisk & Vagabond - Mental Mission Brisk & Fracus - Clear Blue Skies Brisk & Ham - Getting Hi (Scott Brown Mix) Brisk & Ham - Step 2 Da Flaw Weaver - Miracle Eclipse - 2407 (Squad-E Mix) Brisk & Vagabond - Goodbye Summertime Brisk & Fracus - Rock Da Bass Weaver - Holding On Ham - Epic Riff Ham - Old Skool Brisk & Fracus - Code Of The Street Wow, flashbacks galore! Too many great anthems in here, and M@rt!n-J ending the way it should be: with a proper Hardcore/Gabber track. Similar to the NGR podcast series, where they started with the finest UK Hardcore anthems, and ended with the hardest Hardcore anthems, mostly from Europe, but as you can clearly see, Brisk and Fracus know a thing or two about Hardcore and Gabber too. But the general focus of this mix is the UK Hardcore side of NGR. And those are glorious anthems coming at you through your speakers. I am in awe of this label, and the releases they have had over the years. The label hasn't had any releases since 2011 (besides Brisk's album back in 2017), but isn't defunct, as far as I can tell? Maybe it's time to revive it, and bring it back to life with some new music? The label had many great anthems, and the 15 selected by M@rt!n-J are all solid as a rock. But I'm going to say something controversial: they aren't my most favourite NGR songs. There are other tracks released on the label which I do adore more than these 15, but at least the songs have got a distinctive sound I do adore. So many greater Brisk and Ham songs out there. But hey ho, at least they are cool, right? A good selection, but not the labels finest records. But still extremely enjoyable. Get on this NGR high, and ride the oldskool train. Final destination? Who knows. You tell me! Maybe M@rt!n-J will do a part 2 with the classics I adore? Keep an eye out, he might do that in the near future?? • Intents Festival 2022 / Warm Up Mix By Olero

Last weekend was the weekend that most people raved at a massive event held in the Netherlands, and the event is called 'Intents Festival'. Held from Friday the 27th of May up until the Sunday 29th of May, Starting back in 2005, it has become a stable force within the harder styles community, and has been on many people's minds all throughout the year. Obviously throughout lockdown (2020 + 2021) they had to divert from having a real event, and held it all online, but that just put fuel on the fire, and got people all hyped up for the real deal, which happened in 2022. And my timeline on both Facebook and Twitter were filled with pictures and videos of people at this event. The results so far? Very good! So why am I talking about this right now, when the event just happened, and most people are still recovering from it? Well, I found this mix a few days ago on Soundcloud, and it was an appreciation mix, getting people ready for the party ahead. So, as always, I am last to the game, and should have reviewed this pre-event. But that didn't happen, so fuck it. This could be a reminiscence mix, reminding ourselves what the people at Intents went through this last weekend... and if you didn't go, what you missed out on. Olero was the one who made this mix, and it has had good feedback. Not only did this event get good results, but also this promo mix. I'm guessing that people had a wicked time at Intents, and I envy those people. You've earned it, without a shadow of a doubt, but I wish I was there. Last 2 years the livestreams were awesome, and previous events also got a very good score. And the line-up, don't even get me started on those. My God, they went all out on bookings. The creme de la creme. Before I start sobbing and sitting here wishing I went to the event, let's focus on this mix by Olero. For you Hardstyle/Rawstyle lovers, this is a treat! You'll love it! Da Tweekaz & Warface - Intents Highscore (Intents Festival 2022 Anthem) D-Sturb - Ultimate x Act Of Rage - Gangster For Life (Cryex Remix) (Mashup) Physika - The Party Song Sub Zero Project & D-Sturb - Heroes Of The Night (Intents Festival 2019 Anthem) x D-Sturb - Vault Hunter (Mashup) Vertile - Change This Place Warface - Midnight Paradise x Warface & Zatox - 50 Shades (Mashup) Rejecta - Followed x Rejecta - Set Myself Free (Rejectofrage Vocal) (Mashup) Lil Nas X & Jack Harlow - Industry Baby (D-Sturb Edit) Warface - Sorry Not Sorry Far East Movement - Like A G6 (Hard Driver Edit) x Level One - Vengeance x Cryex - Faded (Mashup) Rebelion - A.I. x Rebelion & Hard Driver - Earthquake (Mashup) Rejecta & E-Force - Kicked Out (2021 Edit) Showtek - Colours Of The Harder Styles (Rooler Kick Edit) Rebelion - Bassline Junkie Killshot & Bloodlust - Bass Zo Dik Sickmode & Mish - One And Only Regain - Back To The Madness x TNT - Countdown (Multlator Edit) (Mashup) Rebelion - The First Dose (Mashup) Warface & Rooler & Malice - Watch Your Back x Warface & Delete - Addicted (Mashup) BMTH - Can You Feel My Heart (Rebelion Edit) x Mutilator & So Juice & Sovereign King - Full Throttle Sickmode - Go Stupid Aversion - Keep Clappin' Warface - Psycho x Vasto & Scarra - Psycho x Psycho & Warface - I Need You (Mashup) Malice - Raw Talent (Live Edit) x Malice - Fear (Live Edit) (Mashup) Scarra & Vasto - Downfall Rooler - OneTwo x Sickmode - Hey x2 x Sickmode - Emoji 2.0 (Mashup) Cryex - Never Be Alone (Scarra Edit) x Scarra - Time To Kill (Mashup) Dither - Beat My Drum Rebelion & The Dark Horror & Dimitri K - Side FX's You don't see that very often, mashups. And when executed well, it will be extremely wicked to hear. And in this set the mashups are really ace. But it's not just about mashups, it's about the whole mix, and what it does to you. And to me it makes me move very fast and rough. Olero's mix is really dope, and if this was the mix you listened to, to get you ready for Intents, you must have been firing at all cylinders. 200% when you entered Intents. Oh, I'm so jealous of you. This mix is hard. Really hard. And it gives you enough energy to get through this dark and dreary Monday. Don't want to know how you feel, if you've raved throughout the weekend at Intents, but it must have been intense. So to keep you in the same mood you were in last weekend, let's keep the pace right up there, and keep you raving throughout the week. I am really impressed. A very good selection of tracks, wicked mashups, and no mixing errors. I am really feeling the vibes, and have enjoyed this hour and a half long mix. No negative feedback, only love and appreciation. Normally I would go for everything Vertile produced as my favourite, but this time there's too many to choose from. So I won't. Jump on this right now, and be entertained. And if you are hungover, just take it slow. 2 paracetamols and a big glass of water will help! • Club X Tribute (100 Tracks Live! In The Mix) (2020)

Club X. A name. A legendary name of a club I've never been to. Yes, I have been to Belgium to party during the late 90s and early 2000s, but never to Club X. Even thought I owned a few of their CD compilations, I never had the opportunity to experience what many have, during those glorious years, and by the time I could have gone, the club closed down due to certain reasons (which most of us are familiar with). The club name itself stayed alive, even after its closure, and parties are still thrown, to keep the legacy alive, but the club and the 90s atmosphere are no longer. Like most clubs in the 90s, Club X had a reputation, and also a sound linked to it. Clubs in Rotterdam had this Rotterdam style, Amsterdam the A'dam sound, and clubs in Limburg, well, can't really think if clubs had a distinctive sound. And Belgian clubs certainly had a sound linked to each and every one of them. You knew a song was a Club X song or an Atmoz song or any other club. But obviously Club X's focus was Hardcore. Hardcore was the style that made it big, and gave it a reputation. And to many it's still considered as a memorable location, and many memories have been generated there. Oh, how I wish I had friends who would go there back then. Mine only went to Club/House nights, never Hardcore. Hence why I went to Mysteryland 1998 Outdoor on my own, because none of them were into Hardcore and thought it was just a phase. Oh how wrong they were. You can still buy those Club X CDs on Ebay or other online stores, or you can find them on Soundcloud, YouTube etc. And you can find a few appreciation mixes online. One of them caught my eye: a mix by DJ Epyx, who's mix 2 hour and 45 minutes long and contains 100 tracks that you would have heard if you were on the dancefloor during the 90s in Club X. So this mix is taking us back to the 90s, and for those who were lucky enough to go, to Club X. 100 records. Who doesn't want to hear that? For a gabber/Hardcore fanatic, this is my kryptonite. This is literally everything I loved in the 90s. I would say that at least 97% of these tracks were on my radar during the 90s, and we played over and over (on cassettes or CDs). This mix literally defines my youth, the years when I experienced with many styles and genres, but Hardcore stuck with me the most. DJ Epyx, wicked tracklist. Even in 2022 I can say that I don't know EVERY SINGLE record ever released, so even in this mix there were a few I've not heard at all. But those are just a handful of songs. A proper die-hard Hardcore fanatic knows these and loves these. A few stinkers in here as well, but that's to be expected. You want an example? Well, I've never understood 'Flesh Is The Fever'. Probably one of my least favourite Hardcore songs of all time. Just don't feel it. But what I do feel, is delighted. To hear these classics crammed into one mix is just glorious. And I feel sad at the same time. I wish I ventured into club nights a bit more in the 90s. It seems I've missed out on a shit ton of great nights. No drivers license or any mode of transport or friends who were into this, so my nights out were mostly restricted to whichever club was the closest. With the odd exception, like Mysterland etc. But partying was only happening (for me) in Limburg, and I wish I ventured into the rest of the Benelux.... Is this mix perfection? Well, it's really close. I would say 90% close. A few really tiny mixing errors, and a few tracks which weren't really great, but besides that, a glorious selection of records. It's a flashback to the glorious 90s. And I spotted a post the other day where someone said 'the greatest decade ever had to be the 90s, for everything'. And in a strange way I do understand it. And this mix is certainly proof that the 90s Hardcore was, and still is, the greatest ever. If you've got three hours of doing nothing, do something useful, and check this mix out. It's got good reviews on Soundcloud, and I would underline people's views. This is great. Really great! Best records? T.N.T. with 'Kiss The Ground', and 'Brainwashkiller'. Two highly regarded songs that have stood the test of time. DJ: Epyx Genre/Style: Hardcore, Gabber, Early Hardcore, Rave, Happy Hardcore, Trance Mix Info: Club X Tribute (100 Tracks Live! • Swedish House Mafia @ BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix Ibiza Special 2007

The Swedish House Mafia are back!! Or have they never left? Maybe they just had a short period where they decided they had enough of each other, a short hiatus? A short break is sometimes good, because it means you can come back much stronger and more powerful. They've shown their skills when they returned, especially with their collaboration with The Weeknd. But during the late 2000s they were everywhere, and played everywhere. You couldn't listen to a radio station without hearing a song by the Swedish House Mafia. They were everywhere, and were considered the best trio on God's given Earth at one stage... Obviously they've had their play on BBC Radio 1, and were asked back in 2007 to play on the mighty island of Ibiza, during BBC Radio 1's take over of the island. I'm 100% sure that this set has been uploaded and shared many of times already, but only 5 days ago did they (maybe) reupload this set onto their Soundcloud channel. Maybe to reminisce of what they did nearly 15 years ago, or maybe it's a hidden message? You never know, everything could have a deeper meaning. This was before they were the biggest band in the world, but they were still rocking the stage. You can hear the crowd during this set screaming and shouting, and I would imagine everyone doing that, if they had the Swedish House Mafia in front of them. But they came and destroyed the place. During the late 2000s I was full into Club/Dance/House music, and even now, 15 years later, I can appreciate a nice set. But music has moved on, and is the music from 15 years ago still relevant, still cool enough for the kids? This mix did not come with a tracklist, but a quick look on Google and I found one. And it's one you need to see, to fully understand what they were doing back in 2007. The world was ready for them, and what they had to bring demolished many dancefloors. Rob Hubbard - Commando (Swedish House Mafia Intro Edit) Axwell feat Max'C - I Found U (Remode) Innersphere a.k.a. Shinedoe - Phunk (Steve Angello Re-Edit) Grant Nelson - Seasons Of Jack (Jesse Garcia Piano Mix) Dirty South feat Rudy - Let It Go (Axwell Remix) Hard-Fi - Suburban Knights (Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso Remix) Pryda - Balaton w/ Daft Punk - Harder Better Faster Stronger (deadmau5 Remix) Timbaland feat Nelly Furtado & Justin Timberlake - Give It To Me (Steve Angello Remix) DJ Nick - Summer Samba (Stefano Noferini Remix) Nari & Milani presents Dek 32 - Gnor! (Mail Mix) w/ David Guetta feat Chris Willis - Love Is Gone (Acapella) Steve Angello & Laidback Luke vs Run DMC - Otherwize Like That (Laidback Luke Bootleg) Steve Angello & Laidback Luke feat Rowetta - Be Cirez D vs Axwell feat Beastie Boys - Galactic Tiger Dirty Pleasure - It Thomas Gold & Francesco Diaz & Young Rebels - Don't You Want Me (Thomas Gold & Francesco Diaz Club Mix) Rejected - SL3 w/ Robin S. - Show Me Love (Acapella) Who's Who - Klack John Dahlback - Everywhere (D.O.N.S. & DBN In The Box Mix) Peter Gelderblom - Waiting 4 Substate - Horizon (Mac Zimms Remix) DHS - House Of God This certainly takes me back. This kind of music really intrigued me, and got me moving a lot on the dancefloors all over the Netherlands. I wouldn't be into the Swedes just yet, but only a handful of years later did they appear on my radar, and would be one of the trios I would follow, music wise. As a trio they had massive success, but also as individuals. They knew what to play, and the people at Amnesia, were served the finest House anthems from around 2007. You had to be there to fully understand the set, and the atmosphere. People were loving it, and were absolutely engulfed into what the SHM were playing. You can hear that clearly throughout the set, but especially when 'Otherwize Like That' is played. That, to me, is the biggest track of their set. Yes, it was live broadcasted on BBC Radio 1, and you can hear some other bits too, including interviews, and that kind of ruins the flow of this set. Wish this set was without people chatting. Also who needs to announce every so often who's in the SHM? I'm guessing people already know, so no need to constantly say who's part of this trio... All jokes aside, it's a very danceable set. If you are sitting still when this hits, what is wrong with you? Yes, there are a few songs in this set which are completely ruined by radio overkill, like 'Waiting 4'. God, I need at least another decade without it before I can appreciate it fully again. But back then they were fresh, new, and cool. And being in Ibiza, Spain, enjoying the weather and drinking until the Sun goes up, what else could you wish for? And who would know that only a handful of years later they became the biggest trio in the world, eh? • Gabber Your Ass Off! 90s Gabber & Terror (2021)

I've been a very busy bee today. And now yet another review for you all, one I found by accident. I cannot remember what I was looking for, what my keywords were, but I found this mix, made by Ballse HC. And according to the title it contains Gabber and Terror music from the 90s, and that's always a good thing for me to hear. He's also wearing a Thunderdome shirt, so another bonus. And is he holding a baseball bat? Oh oh, does that mean I can't write anything negative, otherwise he might bash my brains in? All funny things aside, let's focus on the mix. Not familiar with the DJ who made this mix, so let's dive straight into the nitty gritty, the dirty business. The business we call Hardcore music. And the music in this mix slightly harder and rougher compared to your standard Hardcore mix. But all in all a nice hard mix. He also played a few tracks I do not hear very often. And when I say very often, I mean never. They used to appear on many compilations, but now they are forgotten about. Some were also too fucking hard, or too non-PC. But that's so appealing to me, I like it when Hardcore is a bit off and wrong. You'll understand what I'm saying when you just scroll down a tiny bit and look at the tracklist: Nasenbluten - Feeling Shit (Drokz Remix) DJ Dione - Energy Lords Of The Underworld - Loose Control DJ Raffe - DJ Raffe DJ Promo - The Incredible 3 Steps Ahead - Gangster (Feel So Good) The Ender - Me So Horny Delta 9 - Listen Delta 9 - Never Stop (Remix) Master Bation - House Of Hell (DJ Jordens & DJ Pavo Remix) DJ Delirium - Sound Of The Beast (Rob Gee Remix) Bass-D & King Matthew - House Delta 9 - Son Of A Bitch Twin Terror - Hardcore Soldier ISR Live - DOA Mash ISR Live - Nasen Mash Nasenbluten - Shaftman (Delta 9 Remix) Wendy Milan - Sisterfuck Delta 9 - Head Strong (Full On Remix) Temper Tantrum & Strychine - Extreme Terror III This reminds me of Hellsound, the CD compilation series from the 90s. I don't know why, but most of the tunes did appear on these CDs, and were maybe too hard and too rough for compilations such as Thunderdome. And you can trust me: I've listen to a lot of these Hellsound CDs, and still appreciate them a lot. I do love to hear mixes that don't follow the standards, fall outside of conformity. And this is certainly one of those mixes. You love it or you hate it. But you have to be honest and say that this isn't your 'typical' Hardcore anthem you think about when you think of early Hardcore, right? That's what makes this mix so great, because as less important as you might think they are, they still had a huge impact on the scene, and I remember raving the night away, always hearing a fucking hard song as last one of the night, and giving it all I had, before going back home. The tracks are solid, and hard. It goes from 'normal' speed Hardcore to full on Terror. And I love it. The first track sets the tone, and give you enough confidence to give this mix a go. The best song in this mix has to be 'Gangster' by 3 Steps Ahead. One of the slower songs, but so memorable. Probably 3 Steps Ahead's finest records ever. There are a few mixing errors, but nothing major. You will still enjoy this mix a lot. So why not give this a go? • Liam Feeley Spring Trance Mix 2022

After starting the morning with some early Hardcore, let's dive straight into the next mix. This time it's a Trance mix, by Liam Feeley a.k.a. DJ Protocol. Normally his mixes would be focussed on UK Hardcore/early Hardcore, Happy Hardcore etc, but this time he's made a Trance mix. And you all know I'm a huge sucker for Trance music. So today it will all be about Liam's latest mix, and no, it won't be a Happy Hardcore mix, but a very lovely Progressive Trance focussed mix. And you will love this mix, once you press the play button on the Soundcloud player below... I've been listening to this mix over and over for the last few days. And I'm loving the vibes. Trance is already a wicked genre of music, but when it's this uplifting, you know that you'll be in Heaven. You'll be having a cup of tea with angels, and playing snooker with the big man himself. So heavenly. There's not much to say about the DJ. I only know him as DJ Protocol, so his Liam Feeley side of DJing is fairly unknown. So let's focus on what Liam has got to offer, what kind of songs he used for this nearly 2 hour long mix. And the tracklist is glorious. You will understand it once you scroll down a tiny bit further. Just have a look.... Kamilo Sanclemente & Funkea - Elixir Aly & Fila and Jes - I Won't Let You Fall (Space Motion Remix) Evgeny Lebedev - Sleepless Nights Estuera - Umbra LTN & Cassidy Ford - Hurt Yourself Aly & Fila & Plumb - Somebody Loves You (Paul Thomas Remix) Dennis Sheperd & Freak Beatz - Break The Ice Christian Burns - Breaking Fire (Farius Remix) Somma & Jennifer Rene - Stars Collide (Xijaro & Pitch Remix) Giuseppe Ottaviani - Spellbound Armin van Buuren & Aly & Fila feat Kazi Jay - For All Time Roman Messer & Mike Zaloxx feat Jenifer Rene - Lately Richard Durrand & Susanna - I Matter To You Veracocha - Carte Blanche (Ian Bluestone Remix) Omar Sherif - A Brighter Future Roger Shah, Pierre Pienaar & Dirkie Coetzee - Epoch Ram - Ramsterdam (John Van Deynhoven Remix) Yoshi & Razner - Revival Paipy & Ramin Arab - Cannibal Maria Healy - Bluebell Soul Lifters & Kiran M Sajeev - Instigator Darren Porter - Interia Cold Blue - Leaning To Live Hazem Beltagui feat Adara - Back Home (Fady, Mina & Omar Sherif Remix) If you want to be in Heaven, let Liam take you on a journey. It's going to be a pleasant one. As mentioned above, I've listened to this mix over and over, and have really enjoyed it. There are some serious all-time classics in here, and the two hours do fly by before you know it. Nice and uplifting Trance. If that's what you were looking for, I have found a mix you will certainly like. Liam has done an amazing job, and this mix shows he's a man with a lot of talent. And he's diverse too. He can do everything. There's no point in further discussing this. Just play this mix and you won't be disappointed. So many freaking dancefloor smashers, and they will certainly get you in a higher state of consciousness. Best track in this mix? Oh, that's difficult, but I would say 'Break The Ice'. Glorious track. Emotionally driven track. Love it. • Nosferatu @ 7 Gates to Hell (14-11-2009)

I have to start this review with a confession. I've never been to Friesland, The Netherlands. This province was a bit too far out from where I'd use to live. I lived in Limburg, which is down South, and Friesland is way up North. No reason for me to visit Friesland, or even Groningen, but I thought I'd let you know. Why, you might be wondering? Well, it just highlights the fact that I'm not familiar with what happens in Friesland, and that there are Hardcore parties thrown there I've never heard of. Like '7 Gates To Hell', held at Sans Souci in Berlikum. Only a few days ago did I find this liveset by Nosferatu, recorded back in 2009 at 7 Gates To Hell. He wasn't the only one at this event, other names were: Outblast, Dano, Defendor, Judg'ann, Lenn, The Villain, Chosen Few, E-Rick & Tactic, and a mystery guest. And I'm guessing it was hosted by MC Drip. Again, I'm not familiar with anything in Friesland or this event, so if you know the location or the event, how was it? The line-up looks OK. A few names I've not seen before, but two names I have, and wish I had seen them before during the late 90s or early 2000s: E-Rick & Tactic. And according to Partyflock, their last event was this one. I was really a fan of their music but never had the chance to see/hear them live. But it's not about them today, it's about Nosferatu. And this legend, who has earned his credits in the scene, does not need an introduction. And during this 52 minute set he decided to play some early Hardcore anthems. And once you have a butchers at the tracklist, you know why I have picked this set to be reviewed, you'll understand. Lock Jaw - Ruff 'N Ruggin' Lunalotic - Happy House...??? Trickster - Stop The Rhythm The Stunned Guys - MF MF (DJ Isaac Remix) Phoenix - Keep It Going Now Lunalotic - I Can't Hear You Predator vs Wedlock - Roots And Culture Bio-Forge - Turbulence Ectomorph - Mindblower The Coalition - 9MM Myrmidon - No Choice Tiny Tot - Discoland (DJ Isaac Remix) Diss Reaction - DJ Lan Myztic - Dangerus Battle Paradox - My DJ ..... Cutz Neophyte vs The Stunned Guys - Get This Motherfucker Cybernators - No Out Of Here... DJ Isaac - Happy Hardcore Freak Trickster vs Undercover Anarchist - The Phuckin' Dead Dark Syndicate - Straight Up Hardcore Predator - Mind Of A Lunatic Nosferatu - The Future Trickster - White Line For an early Hardcore lover this is paradise. A mixture of well known and forgotten classics. But Nosferatu has got our backs: he knows what the listeners want to hear, and his set is really dope. But now something I have noticed, and I don't know if others have experienced it to? There's something fucking with me during this recording. During the set I hear maybe a microphone remaining open, and I can hear other sounds. It's fucking with me, and doing my nut in. Besides the mic probably being open and ruining the recording slightly, the tracks he has selected are fucking ace. The rougher and harder early Hardcore anthems, more focussed on the 'Artcore' sound, and a bit of Happy Hardcore too. I love it. Sadly to hear the set ending abruptly, but hey ho, at least we get 52 minutes of Nosferatu. A good set, and it's got 'Mind Of A Lunatic'. Still one of my favourite anthems of the 90s. Closely followed by 'Stop The Rhythm' by Trickster. Proper oldskool vibes!!! It's worth checking it out, if you are into your early Hardcore tracks. Nosferatu did a great job, pleasing the people at 7 Gates To Hell. If I'd been there, hearing this live, I would have lost my shit! • Revokez presents: D-Sturb vs. Vertile (2022)

The last couple of months I've been going to the gym again, to loose that fat, disgusting looking belly (let's blame COVID-19 for giving me that belly). And in the gym they always have some urban radio station playing. For me personally that doesn't affect me, and doesn't get me more hyped up. I need something hard and raw, something with a lot of BPMs and idiotic bass, beats, and melodies. Headset on, and volume on max (yes Apple, you don't need to remind me the volume is on max every time I've got my headset on, I am fully aware of it). And my go to music in the gym is or Hardcore or Hardstyle/Rawstyle. Come on, how can you exercise with anything slower and less hard? The last few weeks I've been fully into Vertile, currently my favourite Rawstyle producer. I keep watching his sets on YouTube over and over again, and it still amazes me what he's capable of. His music speaks to me like no other others has done in the past. Especially his Reverze set, that set just blew me away, and during an hour in the gym, I've got that set on repeat. And also during my 8 hour shift. So, in short, I am listening to Vertile a lot. Maybe obsessively a lot? But after hearing his Dimension LIVE sets over and over, I wanted to hear something new and refreshing, and it led me to this mix. A mix by Revokez. Think I've reviewed a set before by him. But this set isn't all about Vertile (I wish!), but also another wicked producer. You might have heard of him? Recognise the name D-Sturb? Of course you have, and you think he's also a wicked producer (which he is). This mix is a B2B mix of each produces tracks. So you get a nice feeling of what both are capable of, and how nicely they flow with each other. A daunting task, but it seems that the songs all blend in nicely. I searched for Vertile, but got D-Sturb at the same time. Two for the price of one! Now that's a bargain. But what's in this 'purchase', what are you getting to hear in this hour long set? D-Sturb & Sogma & E-Life - Hold On Vertile - Through My Brain D-Sturb & Sound Rush - Embracing The Madness Vertile - Ain't Nobodi D-Sturb - Wanna Stay Vertile - Eyes Closed D-Sturb feat Emese - Legacy Vertile - Not My Affection D-Sturb World Out There Vertile - Change This Place D-Sturb - Partystarter Vertile - On My Own D-Sturb - Guts To Dance Rebelion - Echoes (Vertile Remix) D-Sturb - Apocalyptic Darkness (The Next Level Remix) Vertile & Adaro - Walk With Me D-Sturb feat Nolz - The Last Man Standing D-Sturb feat Alee - Party At My Place (Vertile Remix) D-Sturb & Warface - Midnight Paradise Vertile - The New Normal That's a really good looking tracklist, yes? As mentioned above, you get two producers for the same price, and that's amazing. Both are extremely talented and much appreciated in the Rawstyle scene. And from the first to the last record, this set just shows how good the next generation is. You might have a preference in regards to which producer you prefer. You might like D-Sturb more than Vertile, or visa versa. And that's cool. Or you might like them equally as much as each other, and couldn't give a shit who's better: as long as the music rocks. And that's also a valid point to make. This set (with 20 songs) can certainly get you moving, and if you would hear this set at an event, you wouldn't complain. Revokez has done a wicked job, and has made this early morning start a pleasant one. Obviously I have to choose my favourite records. And funny you should ask that question, because to me the first and the last song are the best. 'Hold On' is a great song to start with, and 'The New Normal' a wicked one to end with. Sorry D-Sturb if you are reading this, but for me personally Vertile is a boss. Your music is ace too, but Vertile's music just does more to me. Makes my spine tingle. Makes me feel things I've never felt before. A wonderful set. Want to hear a great set at the gym, or wherever you are? Jump on this bandwagon now, and get the BPMs flying at your through your headset! • Classic 303 Acid Patterns (Part 1/3) (2016)

I've had this mix (and the two others) stored under my favourite ones, but never got the chance to sit down for it, and to listen to it fully. But today's the day: alone, WFH, and speakers on loud. And one of my favourite styles ever: Acid House. Remember Acid House? Remember the late 80s, early 90s? If you are old enough to remember, consider yourself lucky. I am sadly too young to remember Acid House (born in 1983). I would have been less than 10 years old, and I couldn't even string a sentence together, so for me to understand the power behind certain music styles, that was something far fetches, and beyond my reach. But now I'm a tad older, and in awe of Acid House, and what it did for the dance scene in general. it was important, and gave us many new styles. Obviously Techno is another style highly important, and considered the originator, the first that spawned many new genres. But Acid House to me remains the most important, and the most powerful one. Or was Acid House first? You tell me? This mix takes us back to the mid to late 80s. And the one who mixed it together, is the man who released songs under the name T99 and Quadrophonia, Recognise them? He used many other aliases over the years, but he's known as Olivier Abbeloos. And this mix is rather tasty, but it was to be expected, as the man has been in the music scene for many years, and has enough experience to know what the audience likes to hear. And these Acid House mixes are doing rather well on Soundcloud, so what he has done back in 2016 must have been great? I love Acid House. It's just the best. And I'm not the only one. If you by any chance have missed this mix, let me introduce you to the tracklist. It's a glorious one, trust me (and Olivier of course). A Guy Called Gerald - Voodoo Ray The Endless Poker's - The Poke! Dr Derelict - That Shit's Wild! Jack Frost & The Circle Jerks - Shout 808 State - Let Yourself Go Phuture - Acid Trax Mr Fingers - Washing Machine Adrenalin Mod - Ecstacy Bam Bam - Where's Your Child Mohamed - Ham Safar (808 State Remix) Armando - Downfall M-D-Emm - Get Acidic Victor Romeo - The Art Of Acid Farley 'Jackmaster' Funk - I Need A Friend Adonis - Were Rocking Down The House Pierre's Fantasy Club - Dream Girl Jackmaster Curt - Real Fresh House Phortune - Can You Feel The Bass Armando - 151 Bobby Konders - Nervous Acid Laurent X - Machines Coming Down Band - Slow Mo Acid Wee Papa Girl Rappers - Heat It Up Stakker - Humanoid House Syndicate - Kicking Ass Ca Sa - 15 Minutes The Sweet Boyz - Do You Want To Perculate Smokin' Gang - Take It From The Top Overdose - Stomach Acid Mike 'Hitman' Wilson - Bango Acid Liddell Townsell - As Acid Turns Armando - World Unknown (Md House Mixx) Bam Bam - Give It To Me Jack Frost - Clap Me Fast Eddie - Acid Thunder Mix - Pump Up The Acid The Children - Freedom Jack Frost & The Circle Jerks - Two The Max M-D-Emm - Get Angelic Club Mcm - It's Me Farley 'Jackmaster' Funk - The Acid Life Da Rebels - It's Time To Jack The House Mr. Fingers - Ecstacy KC Flight - Planet E Roxanne Shante - Sharp As A Knife Kool Rock Steady - I'll Make You Dance Charles B - Lack Of Love Paul Rutherford - Get Real S-Express - Superfly Guy This took me a while to type, but whilst typing this, I got flashbacks. Not to the 80s, because I was too young, but to the late 90s, when I discovered Acid House. Still more than 22 years ago, if you think about it. I wish I was 'old' enough to experience Acid House music and going out during the late 80s. So many positive vibes from people who lived through those glorious years. Some glorified it in a negative way, saying it was all about the drugs and nothing else, but that's not true. Yes, you have to be open minded to listen to this, but I'm sitting here, at home, sober, and I'm enjoying the music. No ounce of drugs in my system, besides paracetamol. But you can't get high on that... I think? It was 2 hours long, but not long enough. Thankfully there are two more mixes available, but they have to be played on another day. Today I'm on volume 1, and it will be played over and over and over again until my ears bleed. And if that's the case, I do think I might need something to take the pain away, because that ain't normal. All funny things aside, Olivier has done a remarkable job. His mix is really entertaining, without any errors. Pure and flawless, and full of classic anthems. My favo? 808 State's 'Let Yourself Go'. I've got no negative feedback at all. If you want to relive the glorious Acid House days or want to be educated, let Olivier's mix be your guide. • Substanced - Pure Freeform 4 (2020)

After hearing UK Hardcore first thing in the morning, I wanted to hear some Freeform music. And one of the great mix series I am currently missing a lot, has to be Substanced 'Pure Freeform' series. I've already reviewed the second and third instalment, but now it was time to see if there were other mixes I've missed. The last one I found on FINRG's Soundcloud page was from 2 years ago, and it's the fourth (and last?) instalment. So here's my review on Substanced latest Pure Freeform mix... Substanced is a legendary producer and DJ, and has been very active in the Freeform scene for many years. And time and time again he shows the world why he's one of Freeform's finest producers. His records all rock, and left us craving for more. Him and Transcend are probably the best producers in the world? Do you agree or disagree? Obviously his fourth instalment has the finest Freeform anthems in there by well established names, and a few of his own productions. As I've said over and over again, Freeform is so underrated, but to see a mix with high plays on Soundcloud brings a tear to my face. Seems the world is slowly warming up to Freeform? I've been an advocate of getting Freeform recognised, and I'm not the only one, but hopefully people will discover these Substanced mixes and spread the love all over the world. It also relies on the fact that the music should be great. A mix is just a mix: the records should be exquisite. And are they? Well.... Substanced - Hello Transcend - Communion VIP Substanced - Inferno Transcend & Hedonistik Ritual - Oragnism Eryk Orpheus - PVC (Lost Soul Remix) Substanced - Submission (Pure Freeform Edit) Transcend - Touching The Infinite A.B & Substanced - Injustice Transcend - Noise & Confusion Douglas & Remane - Disorder Substanced - Infinite GERCORE - Legacy Alek Szahala - Lumi (Kevin Energy Remix) Transcend - Neural One mighty fine looking tracklist. And the tracks are good too! It's as good as you would expect them to be. It's Freeform, for fuck sake. It's not just your standard EDM stuff. Nah, this is high quality stuff. This hour has flown by, and it's been amazing. A bit of older and newer Freeform, all crammed but carefully mixed into this hour long mix. Smooth as a baby's bottom. Leave that to Substanced: he always delivers. His previous 'Pure Freeform' mixes have also been a blessing in disguise. And every mix had some hard hitters. Some serious dancefloor smasher, and this mix is no exception. As much as I love Substanced's productions, I haev to give credit to 'Communion VIP' by Transcend. And Douglas & Remane's 'Disorder'. These are my two favourite records of this set. This is yet another showcase why Freeform is ace, and why Substanced is a boss. Get on it right now (even though it's 2 years after its initial release), and enjoy it as much as I have! • Si Thompson - Evolution Plus Mix Part 2 (17-5-2022)

It's roughly 7am, and I'm sitting here, happy as Larry. Why you might be wondering? Well, I've woken up, and once my laptop was fired up, the first mix I saw on Soundcloud was an Evolution records mix made by Si Thompson. Is there a better way of waking up? OK, maybe a BJ and a steak, but that might be heavy on my stomach at 7am. So instead, let's listen to this mix. But don't underestimate this: it is still heavy, hard and rough. It's freaking Evolution records man! Come on. You know the label, and you love the label, right? I have been a Scott Brown fan for many years, and had the honour to hear him play on multiple occasions. Sadly it was never a set filled with his own productions, but more Gabber focussed sets, but still good though. One of the founding fathers of the UK Hardcore scene, and a pioneer in the Gabber scene too. To me, his approach to UK Hardcore has always been my favourite kind. Like his music speaks to me directly, and gets me going harder on the dancefloor. More melodic, yet a small hint of gabber influences. And I love it. Especially his early work. No, not the early early stuff, that's too old, but vintage in a good way. But I'm talking about UK Hardcore and the stuff he released on his label. I quickly had to look and see what this Evolution Plus meant. I thought it was maybe a sub label to Evolution records. And it indeed is. I'm not a sub label connoisseur, if I'm brutally honest. But it's good that Si Thompson reminds me of this sub label, and that I need to do some more digging. Investigate what is out there, and what else there is to discover. But for now, let's focus on his mix, and see which songs he has used. Are they any good? Worth listening? Well, that's a no brainer.... Plus System - Commence Scott Brown - Elysium Plus Plus System - Neck Breaker Scott Brown - Satisfied Scott Brown - Detonated (Plus System Remix) Scott Brown - Serial Killer Plus System - Please Don't Cry Scott Brown presents Plus System - Bassline Of The Century Scott Brown - We Don't Give A Damn Scott Brown - I Call The Shots Plus System - This Is How We Do It Scott Brown - Life As We Know It Plus System - Na Na Na Scott Brown vs Hyperbass - We're Droppin' This (Original) If there's a better way of waking up, let me know. Again, BJ and steak is great, but might be heavy on the stomach. But I would argue that there's nothing better than waking up to some Scott Brown tunes. It's a very pleasant feeling, and Si Thompson's mix is a great one to start your day with. One of the great things is that this mix doesn't contain probably one of the worst UK Hardcore songs ever, the one where Scott Brown uses The Bloodhound Gang vocals. And that makes me even more happier. Can a human be this happy? That is always a fear of mine, to find a very good mix, to have it ruined by that specific song. Dreadful lyrics/vocals. Rather stab myself in the ear with a needle. But Si left it out, and that's all great news! What he has done instead, is picked 14 of the finest Scott Brown records, and crammed them into a wicked mix. Who doesn't love 'Neck Breaker', or 'Serial Killer', or 'Commence', or 'Elysium Plus'? Scott Brown knew what the masses wanted, and his skills gave us monster anthems that turned into timeless classics. What else is there to mention? Nothing else. A wicked mix, with great Scott Brown songs. Be it under his own name or his alias Plus System. Scott Brown always brings the heat, and Si Thompson does too. He's been a very busy person on Soundcloud, and he's been adding a shit ton of mixes for you to check out. But this one at the moment is my favourite mix. Best record? 'Elysium Plus'. Smashing record! • Paul van Dyk/Tiesto Inspired Classic Trance Mix (2021)

Don't look at the very pixelated image above. I know it's old and not very good quality, but the people on it are legends. Recognise them, if you can? Paul van Dyk and Tiesto. Two legendary names in the Trance scene. Especially when it grew in popularity during the late 90s. I was a massive Tiesto fan, and stayed up all night, listening to 3FM radio station (in NL) to hear his first 'In Concert'. It was live broadcasted, and it was something special. No other DJ had ever done it before at such a stage, for such a huge crowd. And then you had Paul van Dyk. Also a very successful DJ and producer, with similar success. Still active in the Trance scene, whereas Tiesto isnt'. For me, personally, it was Tiesto that I grew up with, and his music was more my jam. Paul van Dyk's music was great, don't get me wrong, but Tiesto's was much better. Different approach to Trance music, I assume. Both were great producers and DJs, and I had the chance to see Tiesto live many years ago (and I think Paul van Dyk was there too), at Innercity 2000. Big event, memorable. So to find a mix focussed on both producers and what they would play, is just amazing. It isn't filled with their own productions, but songs they would play. Or would have played, as Tiesto has now ventured into this new world called EDM. But these 20 tracks, selected and mixed by Trance Classics, are certainly ones you would hear in a Tiesto of PvD set. And that, ladies and gentlemen, makes me a very happy bunny. But which songs am I talking about, referring to? Well, these glorious ones: Progression - In Deep Sounds Sunburst - Eyeball (John Johnson Remix) Kyau & Albert - Kiksu Fable - Nightshift Danny Oliveira - Drop It Your Love (John O'Callaghan Remix) Activa - Remember (Club Mix) Robert Nickson - Helix Factoria - Revive Lexicon 4 - Reach Me (Activa 'TPOD' Remake) Fred Baker - Confirmation Schiller - Das Glockenspiel (Humate Remix) M.I.K.E. - Sunrise At Palamos Primer - Everlast Solid Sleep - Club Attack (Activa 'TPOD' Remix) 4 Strings - Into The Night Randy Katana - In Silence (Txitxarro Mix) Insigma - Open Our Eyes Darren Tate feat Jono Grant - Let The Light Shine Art Of Trance - Madagascar (Richard Durrand Remix) Tiesto presents Allure - The Loves We Lost This is a brilliant looking tracklist. Both 'old' and 'new', all together in one mix. And some have remained all time classics from the moment they were released. This brings back so many great memories, and flashbacks to me sitting next to the stereo, recording everything onto cassettes. Magical days. I'm a fan of what Trance Classics has done. A nice mix, with some dancefloor smashers. Including one track that blew me away, and I never knew the name of. Primer with 'Everlast'. What a magnificent track. Not much information is available online, but what I do know is that this track is a timeless masterpiece. Suitable for both a Tiesto set and a PvD set. This is a 2 hour long set, but you wouldn't notice it. Time flies by, and you are in Heaven. So many great anthems, and they will remain great anthems until the end of days. Brilliant concept, loved it from the first to the last second. Check it out now, and it's also downloadable! The only downside of this mix is the bloody size: 1.3 gigabytes? Bloody hell! • Autobiography Of A Rave Kid Part X (2022)

Today the weather is looking great. Temperatures will go above 25 degrees Celsius, so it's BBQ time. But for most of us it's working from home, or in the office, or wherever you work from. I hope your aircon unit is working, and you are cooled enough today to get you through it. But now I've got a sad message to provide you; I'm bringing the heat. So you need the finest aircon unit, or live in a country near the North or South Pole, otherwise the heat will demolish you. And if I'm brutally honest, it's not me bringing the heat, it's one of my favourite DJs of all time: Selectabwoy. He brings the fire with the tenth instalment of his very successful mix series 'Autobiography Of A Rave Kid'. Let's leave the banter for now, but let's be serious. Very serious. Because Selectabwoy is one of the finest DJs out there, and his Soundcloud channel is one you definitely need to check, if you love everything Rave related. I've lost count on how many mixes he's got on his page, and many of them are seriously insane. Only a handful of years ago I'd never heard of him, and now I can't stop going to his channel, and listen to whatever he's uploaded. He is a power house, he brings the fire. And his tenth mix (in this series) is one you need to check out, but maybe, if you haven't already, check out the previous 9 mixes, and the billion other mixes. It is impressive how he makes each and every mix sound so flawless, and so damn good. He seems to find the hidden gems, and every mix is some kind of reintroduction into the style he's playing. You think you know Drum and Bass, or Jungle, or Hardcore, or Breakbeat? Nope, he will re-educate you. In a positive way. So what has he got in store today? Well, these tracks, and you will love them as much as I have! L.S.G. - L.S.G. DJ Ivan - Untitled (Techno Mix 2) Smith & Brown - Life's Just So Dark & Moody - Untitled (Volume 1 B2) Sound Of The Future - Fearless Wonder S & A - Untitled (Side A) Naughty Naughty - Untitled (Volume 7A) DJ Red Alert & Mike Slammer - In Effect (Remix) Spicelab - Cold Chillin' Mysteron - U Don't Know Skanna - Untitled (Nightstalker EP A2) Foul Play - Open Your Mind Ironik - Fantasy (Light Mix) Space Cube - Time To Kill Double X-Posure - Go With The Flow Aurora - Firin To The Core Gappa G & Hyper Hypa - Information Centre (DJ Hype Remix) DJ Krome & Mr Time - Into The Night SMD - Untitled (Volume 1A) Secret Squirrel - The Magic Flute SMF - Surrender Retreat Another wicked mix. Seriously, where does he find all these hidden tracks? How does he find them? He must go crate digging every week? It's always impressive to hear a mix by Selectabwoy and it contains 'new' tracks; tracks not played before in another mix. Or maybe he has, but he hides it well. Every single mix in this series is a success. And if you want to be re-educated or reintroduced into this kind of music, this is one of those series you must listen to. This should be on everyone's bucket list: listen to this series before you die. It's that damn good! Carefully mixed, carefully selected, by the legend Selectabwoy. To me this is fire. Seriously impressive mix. It was only uploaded 3 days ago, but the feedback has already been tremendously good. And I concur. It's a wicked mix, but I would not have expected anything else from Selectabwoy. The temperature outside might be toasty today, but the heat will be brought inside, if you listen to this mix. A very fine selection of Hardcore Jungle Techno anthems. Or whatever you might call this. Jungle? Breakbeat? Hardcore? It's just fucking banging stuff, that's what it is. Music to put your head near the bassbins, I'm telling you! DJ: Selectabwoy Genre/Style: Hardcore. Who remembers Hardcore Generation? Who is old enough to remember buying 'cheap' Hardcore CDs in the 90s, using Guilders, not Euros? And the first one being for 25 piek! Remember that, when CDs were cheap? But sometimes there was a specific reason why they were cheap. And in my eyes Mecado as a label ruined a lot for us ravers, and normal music lovers. Not putting the blame solely on this label, but a contributor for the downfall of Hardcore. They did release a few CDs in the 90s, but gladly faded into obscurity. One of those was a series called 'Hardcore Generation'. And yes, I owned a few of these. They were cheap, and I'm still Dutch, remember? The series started (for me) with a CD called Hardcore Generation, with a big ass dinosaur on the front cover. Mecado wasn't the only one that did it, but it always made me wonder who came up with that shite? A dinosaur on a Hardcore CD? It looked like it would devour you in a split second, but I do not see the link between this extinct animal and Hardcore music. Don't get it. But also the next CD, which was a nice looking female raver in the toilet with some other ravers. What's that all about? She did have the most gorgeous eyes of all on a CD, ever. But all jokes aside, looking back at it, it was an appalling series. They were all released in 1997. 6 in one year. Surely not to capitalise the genre of music that was bringing in the big bucks, right? They folded back in 1998, after Hardcore died down, and due to some backlash in regards to copyright issues etc. To me the name Mecado is a blemish on our rich music history. A dark page. But I still bought the CDs, because every so often you would find decent CDs. Yes, on one of the worst labels ever to exist, a few CDs stood out. But only 2% of all their releases were good. A terrible label that captured peoples attention, especially the gabber scene. I bought literally everything and anything Hardcore related, so I know about this collection. And some of the records on these 6 CDs were actually good. But the majority of these are just terrible, really terrible. Just have a look at the tracklist for these CDs. I'm not going to type them all, I've got a life, you know? Still to this day I find it weird to find an ass, or a toilet roll on the back of a CD, and why is the lady on the top right image so angry? Why, there's no reason for you to be unhappy? And dinosaurs, really? Ross would get a boner, but I don't think any gabber would get one. Not only were the tunes so bad, but sometimes the actual quality of the songs too. You cannot make this shit up, seriously. I'm now listening to 'Motherfuckers Move', and the bass is just taking over every element of the song. Just an example. Or just the general state of Hardcore tunes. The CD with the gorgeous lady starts with 'Mosselman'. It was funny back then, but to me it's lost all its strength. And is kind of the downfall of the Hardcore too. Not a good start to start your CD series with. Back to this series. Only lasted 1 year, 6 editions, and that was it. The end of an era, for which I'm glad. And sad at the same time. Strangely this series was part of my youth and as much as I hate it with a vengeance, I still consider this part of my youth. A learning curve, a stepping stone. The main lesson for me was: you might need to pay more for quality, but it's worth it. I'd rather spent 50 guilders on 1 CD, instead of 25 on 1. But without this series I wouldn't have known. This is, in comparison to other compilations, one of the worst. They made some other crappy Hakkuh CDs, focussed on the stupidity. Hakkuh & Zaguh, Hakkuh op de camping, etc. They weren't the only one, but a huge contributor to why the style lost a huge following, and respect. Don't get me wrong, you wouldn't be expecting Thunderdome level quality tunes on here, and I love me a bit of Happy Hardcore from time to time, but this in comparison to others which were released back then, is worthless. Not spending any pieks on. I couldn't find all the CDs on YouTube, but have a trip down memory lane (for you Dutchies out there), and remember why we turned our back to the commercial side of Hardcore. To me, the only positive to come out on these CDs, were the songs by Army Of Darkness. Still the finest Hardcore tunes to this day!

  • Thunderdome Flashback 2022

I have to come clean here. Previously I reviewed another fan made 'Thunderdome' CD, which could be found on YouTube, and I wasn't a fan of that one at all. Not one bit. And I might be prejudice to the whole 'fan' concept. I've heard some appalling mixes in the past, and it's been dreadful. So when I discovered yet another 'Thunderdome' CD on YouTube, this time it's called 'Flashback', I was sceptical. Is this yet another one of those mixes on YouTube no one asked for, and isn't unique in any way, shape or form? Well, time will tell... keep on reading I would say! Am I too harsh? Maybe. But it's also known that the whole Thunderdome CD collection is already on YouTube and other platforms, so it's not really needed to upload new videos, if they are basically just the same, but slightly different. The same tracks. Nothing new. Only a different cover image, that's all. Not saying the music isn't great (it certainly is), but this is a non needed concept that people need to stop doing. Unless it's a dedication mix that's worth while. Currently I'm halfway through this video, and the tracks are all known to me, but it's not done beautifully. Not sure why people think this is OK to upload? Again, the music is great, and nothing can compete against the 90s sound that was released on those glorious CDs, but why create this and upload it, if it's not even better than what was on those CDs? Copy pasting but in a bad way. The transitions between each track is shocking. Now I know Arcade and ID&T weren't the greatest back in the 90s with their CDs, but even with 2022 technology we cannot seem to improve it? I think this would have been nicer if it was a mix, and not some fan 'made' CD. Please stop, and just upload awesome mixes dedicated to the wicked compilation series. But which tracks are on this 'CD'? Well, these: Thunderdome Flashback 2022 - Intro Cixx vs The Vinyl Junk - Forever The Masochist - Killing Scum DJ Sim - Simbiosis The Masochist - Anticipation DJ Arjuna - Totally Lost It DJ Dione - Nuclear Device DJ E-Rick & Tactic - Da Baddest Mothafuck The Prophet - Big Boys Don't Cry (4 Minutes Mix) DJ Dione - 1 Beat 2 Heaven Omar Santana - Kick Some Shit (Lenny Dee & DJ Skinhead Remix) DJ Waxweazle & DJ Berry - Terrordome Bata - The Shoeshineman Renata Riccardi - Return Of A Looney Chosen Few - Name Of The DJ Flamman & Abraxas - Drugs (Juggernaut Mix) DJ Sim - Loud As Fuck (54321 Mix) Scarface - Turntable Junkie 3 Steps Ahead - Hakkuh DJ Buzz Fuzz - Destroyer Lancinhouse & The Stunned Guys - Atmosfera The Headbanger - No Law 3 Da Hardway - Pull The Trigger (Temper Tantrum Mix) Thunderdome VIII - Megamix (Busy Action Mix feat 3 Steps Ahead & Lady Jay) The Dentist - Pulp Fiction (Rotterdam Mix) Diss Reaction - Jiieehaaaa The Horrorist - Flesh Is The Fever Tellurian - Big Bad City (Dax J Mix) DJ Promo - What The Fuck Promo - Patterns In Chaos DJ Promo & Catscan - Midnight Impact Too Small - U Gotta Give It Babe Section-8 - Punanny (The Prophet Remix) It's a nice looking tracklist, don't get me wrong. The tracks are really nice to hear. Some aren't much in the public domain, and it's good that you hear them again, but was it really needed to create this? The transitions between records can be very poor every so often. Ranging from 'OK' to 'very bad'. And the tracks are not in some kind of order. And some are even played faster halfway through a track? There seems to be a lot wrong with this, and I like the concept, people celebrating Thunderdome as a whole, but please just keep on making mixes, and not these CDs. Too many of them just do not give me the feeling I've got when I'm actually listening to a Thunderdome CD. Sadly this is a poor attempt. Make it into a nice mix, and use a good build up. And maybe make sure the transitions/cross fadings are done correctly. This 'fan made' CD isn't my cup of tea. I shall browse the internet to find one decent one. But for now, the ones I've found, have disappointed me. It only makes me want to blow off the dust of my actual Thunderdome collection. • Ghost In The Machine - One Louder Mix (2018)

From Breakbeat Hardcore to Techno. Oh how life can throw everything and anything at you, at a moments notice. But it is all worth it. Imagine a life without great music surrounding you. That, surely, seems boring? But this next mix is surely the opposite of boring. To the well educated person the name Ghost In The Machine might be known, but to me the name doesn't ring any bells. I literally saved this mix as a favourite because it's got a tracklist. And it's Techno. Can't go wrong with Techno, right? So, Techno. Not a style that I review that often, which is obviously a shame. But today I'm going to, so be ready for some Techno madness coming through your speakers. As you are aware, I like my Techno to be rough, hard, and dark. And Ghost In The Machine's mix, which was to celebrate a new EP release back in 2018, is all three of the reasons why I love Techno. Even though I love it, I don't consider myself a connoisseur, more a fan. A fan since 1994. OK OK, so I'm a noob, and don't even know the act that made this mix. Don't judge me, at least I'm listening to this mix. I quickly had a look on their Facebook page, and it seems that this is a Dutch act? Interesting. But before we dive into the nitty-gritty, let's focus on what they mixed together in this special mix for Perc back in 2018. It's dark, edgy, and I freaking love it! clipping feat Sickness - Body For The Pile Mark Morris - MM00003000 Leiras - Neopagan Forward Strategy Group - Code#02 Tymon - Godless Rebekah - Anxiety Ghost In The Machine - Bells Of Steel Subjected - Steel Cassegrain - Trappist (The Mover Remix) Energetic X - Dementia Ghost In The Machine - Tank Station VIP Marla Singer & Casual Treatment - Rate Ghost In The Machine - PSKDT Perc - Spit Umek - Zadiox Ghost In The Machine - Dream Grill Clouds - Complete Control Charles Fenckler - Raven Ansome - Snake Eyes Dep Affect - Death Self Ghost In The Machine - Like A Version Speedy J - Something For Your Mind Ghost In The Machine - Hold My Drink Perc - To The Bone Polygon Window - Quoth (Wooden Thump Mix) Scalameriya - Kepslok Circuit Breaker - Trac-X Energetic X - Philanthrop Manni Dee - Cameron On A Guillotine British Murder Boys - Learn Your Lesson Now, again, I'm not a connoisseur, but I do love Techno. Especially when it's done correctly. And Ghost In The Machine's mix seems to tick all the boxes. The hour has literally flown by, and I didn't even notice it. And that to me is a testimony of how great a mix is. If it's dull and not inspiring, the time goes by too damn slowly. But if it does go by quickly, the music speaks to you. I did notice a mixture of 'old' and 'new' tracks. And I freaking love it. The funny thing is, is that you need to pay attention to hear if a track is old or new. It's because they blend in so nicely, And it's also a testimony that these older songs are timeless classics. And some even borderline to Hardcore music. So damn rough and tough. The mix grabs your attention, and won't let you go. And Ghost In The Machine's records are solid. I love the old and new records, but the one record that blew me away the most, has to be 'Trac-X' by Circuit Breaker. Big track from the early years.. A wonderful mix. If you like your Techno to be slightly dark and vicious, this is the mix for you! • 1994 Breakbeat Hardcore Mix Vol. 2 (2022)

Another day in paradise, another review. And today's mix is all about Breakbeat Hardcore from the year 1994. 28 years ago. Can you believe this? I certainly can't. To me 1994 feels like it's only a handful of years ago, not nearly three decades. You might not even been born in the previous millennium, and not have heard of Breakbeat Hardcore. There are some people out there too young to realise that there's a beautiful style out there, and they weren't around when it was big. Insane world we live in, right? All jokes aside, let's focus on today's mix. As I mentioned, it's a Breakbeat Hardcore mix, and it's made by Andy Pav. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I've reviewed a mix by him before. Might need to dig in my archive to find out... and the answer is no. I've not reviewed a mix by Andy before, but maybe I saved a mix to review at a later stage, and I simply forgot? But it's never too late to get hyped up, and today I'm fully in the Breakbeat Hardcore zone. When I saw the tracklist to this mix, I knew I had to jump on it. Andy's selection seems to be great, and just the right tracks to listen to, to ignite the spark we all need. A good selection, and hopefully you agree. So now you would like to know which tracks he put in this hour long mix, right? Oaysis - Incredible Bass (Slipmatt Mix) SMD - SMD 2B Dougal & Vibes - Feel Free Question Mark - Vol. 3 (4AM) Future Primitive - Swift Half (Vibes & Wishdokta Mix) Jimmy J & Cru-L-T - Take Me Away Vibes & Wishdokta - Feel Good Edit V - Sensation Mystic & Fire - Vol. 2A Dougal & Mickey Skeedale - Really Love You Euphoria - Show Me Your Love S&A - Peaked Up 2 Croozin - 2 Pumpin Force & The Evolution - Raining Smiles You know all of these songs, and looking at the tracklist makes you happy, right? If it doesn't, you might be too young, or simply not into Breakbeat Hardcore. Nothing to worry about: let this mix or other reviewed mixes be your guide into the wonderful world of Breakbeat Hardcore. And if that doesn't work, do one. Go away. But please don't. I know you will love this mix, and so do I. I am sitting here, at 7:30am, and I am enjoying this mix. Andy's selection is great. Yes, I might have heard them before (multiple times), but these tracks still kick ass, and they kick ass hard. It gives me enough energy to kick start the day, and I do feel like I'm actually in 1994. These tunes might be 28 years old, but they still sound timeless. Play these at any rave, and the ravers go insane. Proper oldskool vibes, but still sounding fresh. Andy, a great mix. Really enjoyed it. A lot of classic tunes. We need more Breakbeat mixes, and I'm now on the hunt to find more mixes. And I'll start my journey on Andy Pav's Soundcloud channel. I'm sure there are more mixes. If so, happy days! • Future Gabber of the 90’s (2022)

Tuesday, Gabber day. But not the 90s Gabber, but the present day Gabber. Confused yet? Well, don't be. Let me explain. Gabber was a big thing during the 90s, and was part of the immense scene we call Hardcore. It was a distinctive sound that we loved a lot, but over the years got buried under a lot of subgenres. But it was so loved and appreciated, that in the present day there's a small group of producers keeping this 90s sound alive and kicking. Obviously keeping it real and present too, but still maintaining that feeling we loved. J.O.E., the channel to go to if you are a fan of the harder styles, has uploaded a brand new mix with futuristic Gabber sounding tracks. Or maybe the term 'futuristic' seems to be out of place. It's more likely present day made Gabber, that's a term that suits this more. And you all know I'm a sucker for this kind of Hardcore. It's certainly cool that Gabber from the 90s is revived and still has that specific sound we love. I am a sucker for something that is new, but sounds old. And J.O.E.'s mix seems to be made at the right time, and found by me at the right time too. I needed this today a lot: it's grim and everything's a bit meh, but this seems to change my mood. I need this, and so do you. You love your 90s Gabber? Well, check this out: The Bloody Deamon & DJ A.D. - Bass Place Painbringer - Everything or Northing Gabberf#%ker - Guide me to Freedom Lockjaw - Hypa The Bloody Deamon & DJ A.D. - Straight from the Underground Painbringer - Never Say Die B.S.E. - Murders Wicked XXX - Outlaw Renegade B.S.E. - Lowered Level Painbringer - Carlito’s Way The Bloody Deamon & DJ A.D. - Kick ‘a’ Drum Painbringer - Children of Pandemonium X-Fly - Check it Out Morax - Denonic Screams Lockjaw - I Will Be Master Painbringer - Inner War X-Fly - We Rock The Hell Arvid - System Reboot Biodome - Going Underground MainStage Mafia - Welcome to the Galaxy Gabberf#%ker - Take A Step-back Biodome - Oldschool Hardcore Wicked XXX - Old Skool Mafia Ferra - Hold Me Back Rodox Trading - F#%k My Music Painbringer & Mystery - Balance The Ctrl & Brutal Force - Learn A Lesson Kamikaze - Super Broke So, you might be looking at this, thinking you do recognise a few names, and you're not wrong. A few of these names have been in many mixes, and have been pushing Gabber/Hardcore for many years, like Painbringer, Mainstage Mafia, B.S.E., Lockjaw, and more. For us, Gabber lovers, it is good to hear new music. The sound needs to remain alive and kicking, and in 2022 we do need Gabber more than ever. And whenever I find a mix that contains new music, it always makes me want to listen to them more than once. And J.O.E.'s latest mixes have been really amazing. This is another jewel. An hour long, with 28 'new' records. I do say new, but a few I've heard before. But new, compared to the music released in the 90s. I can talk for hours about this 'new' Gabber, but I'm not. I would urge you, if you were a gabber in the 90s, to give this mix a go, and open your eyes for this new view on the old Gabber sound. I really appreciate it, and I think this could improve your day. J.O.E. takes us on a journey, and it's really a pleasant one. More of these, please! DJ: J.O.E. • Call It Early Hardstyle Episode 023 November 2016 - HemQade Special

The weekend has landed! Most of us are chilling, but some are getting ready to party later tonight. I'm neither of those, I've been working hard in the garden, it was in a bit of a state. So the grass needed some cutting, and with that pesky little job, I needed something to keep me going. Some good and decent tunes. Something that could make the job go by quicker, and make me work as efficient as possible. Et voila, as the French would say, this mix. A mix made by DJ Mani, who I've never heard of, but his dedication mix was heard by me, at max volume. And I fucking loved it! This two hour long megamix contains the early Hardstyle anthems we all fell in love with. And those tunes were played in the Hemkade, for sure. I've sadly never been, but it was the place to be, for Hardstyle lovers. I can only imagine how good it must have been, the early Hardstyle years at this majestic location. But even though I've never been, I do recall the early Hardstyle sound very well, and remember how good it was. And still is. When Hardstyle became the number one style, I jumped on as hard as someone who would do that fucking ridiculous Jumpstyle dance. I was hooked. It had all the ingredients I needed to get me going through the night, especially when Hardcore was on a short hiatus. So to see 80 records in a 2 hour mix, and all of them are known to me, it certainly puts a freaking smile on my face. My garden duties were done before you know it. I thought it would take me longer, but this mix got me through it. Even when it looked like it was going to rain. But which tracks am I talking about? Which ones got me hyped up to the max? Tatanka Project - General Sound Master Marcel Woods - De Bom 2001 Warmduscher - 10 Kleine Bassdrums (Pille Palle Mix) So Project - Direct Disko (Original Mix) Derb - In Afrika DJ Arne LII vs M.I.T.C.H. - Base Generator Carambola - Blue Horizons (Deepack Remix) Atlantic Wave - Love Killer (Live In The Bush Mix) Tatanka & Ado The Dream - Kriminal Flash Frederik - Musica (Frederik Goes Hardstyle Mix) Cosmic Commando - Heartbreak (Arne LII Remix) DJ Arne LII - R.I.P. So many glorious memories from those early Hardstyle years. And even to this day does it stand tall: it's still appreciated by many Hardstyle fanatics, including yours truly. DJ Mani's mix is truly a megamix. 110 minutes of madness, and a shit ton of excellent tunes. It does make me wonder why this sound disappeared into thin air? Why did we let that happen, and why aren't we reliving it again? This needs to NOT change, and we need this kind of Hardstyle 24/7! The memories, the anthems. And so many names! It is nice to see those names again after a few years. There's just too much to look up, and so much to reminisce to. DJ Mani's mix is truly one that has got everything for everyone. And it's so damn cool to hear what they were capable of during the early years, and how it evolved into the present day Hardstyle. It was literally a mashup, wasn't it? The term Hardstyle was linked to Hard House, Hard Trance, Hard Dance, Hard Jump, and many more. It was diverse, and that's what made it so great. As an example: Scot Project is in here multiple times, but I wouldn't call his music Hardstyle, more Hard Trance. But it still fits in well. And those early Scot Project tunes, you cannot beat them. Truly classics, without a shadow of a doubt. I really liked this mix. A few tiny mixing errors, but nothing major. Jump on this mix before you go out, and you will gain an extra level of energy and excitement. We all need it: our weekends seems to fly by quicker than ever! • Vertile's Dimension LIVE : Reverze 2021

Last year an event took place called Reverze, Wake Of The Warrior. Ever heard of Reverze? Of course you have. A big event in Antwerp, Belgium, and it had many big names on the flyer. And when I say big names, I certainly do mean it: Mark with a K, Sound Rush, D-Block & S-te-Fan, Da Tweekaz, Ran-D, Sub Zero Project, Dr. Peacock, Audiotricz, B-Front, Devin Wild, N-Vitral, Partyraiser, and of course the person, the reason why I'm writing this review: Vertile. He took his Dimension LIVE set to Belgium, and did not disappoint. The crowd were absolutely loving it, and you can do to, if you've got the YouTube app installed on your device (but who hasn't, to be fair?).. Vertile's Dimension LIVE is an institution. If my facts are correct, this seems to have started during lockdown, and is slowly growing in size. First done without an audience, but now life is back to normal, the crowds are growing, and in this video you can see the crowd loosing themselves, and fully intoxicated on Vertile's music. I wouldn't disagree: if I were to see him live, I would loose my shit too! Such an upcoming act. One to keep an eye out for! A power house, that's what he certainly is. And he all does things himself. Videoing? Check. Editing? Check. And even bits that were missing for the videoing of the night, he asked the crowd to deliver him all of the videos they had, and they did! Everything done by this man is sublime. He knows exactly what is needed to bring the brand to the masses, and how he does it is amazing. The crowd at Reverze really loved his set, and you can see thousands of fanatics dancing until their feet started to bleed. And even Vertile is having a blast behind the decks, with his records blasting through the speaker system, and a few tweaks made to each of them. Only 30 minutes long, but 30 minutes is enough for Vertile to get you to embrace his name and what he's capable of. But what did he play for the fans? Well, these songs: Vertile - Vertile's Dimension INTRO Vertile - Change This Place Vertile - Together We Grow Vertile - On My Own Rebelion - Echoes (Vertile Remix) Vertile - Stronger (Kick Edit) D-Sturb feat Alee - Party At My Place (Vertile Remix) Vertile - Through My Brain (2021 Edit) Endymion & The Viper feat Feral Is Kinky - Raging In The Dancehall (Vertile Remix/Defqon.1 Edit) Vertile - Ain't Nobodi (Kick Edit) Vertile - The New Normal (Edit) Adaro & Vertile - Walk With Me (Edit) Vertile - Eyes Open Vertile - Not My Affection (Intro Edit) Vertile - Not My Affection (Kick Edit) If you don't feel anything throughout this set, you are or a) not into Hardstyle/Rawstyle, or you are b) not human. This man has been doing his utmost in selling the brand 'Vertile', and he's doing it extremely well. And not just the brand, but the music is great. Next level shit this is, and I mean it. It's like the music speaks to me directly. It doesn't matter which set I listen to, every single comment underneath it praises Vertile for what he's doing and what he has done already. This man will slowly take over the scene, and it's for the best. We need more Vertile. We need it daily. trust me. I am really in awe with Vertile. I'm been sitting here, WFH, and fisting the air, and stomping my feet, and bouncing my fat disgusting body up and down on my office chair. People walking passed my house might be thinking I'm insane, but I couldn't care less. The music speaks, and it speaks to me directly. Vertile's music appeals to me a lot. • Ramos & Protocol - Back To 95 (2022)

The weekend is about to land. And I'm not talking about the best singer/producer currently in the world (the Weeknd), but I'm talking about the two glorious days we all know as Saturday and Sunday. And here in the UK it's all back to normal, and the weather seems to be all OK. So I'm guessing many will go out raving, clubbing, or somewhere where there's entertainment. And to get you in the zone, let's take a journey back to 1995. Just a reminder: that's 27 years ago! How in God's name is that 27 years ago? It only feels like a handful of years ago, not 27 years?! But taking us on a journey are Ramos & Protocol, with their latest mix (which you can find on RSR's Soundcloud channel). Both Ramos and Protocol have been busy boys, and their Soundcloud channel recently had some new mixes being added, and they are... GLORIOUS. If you are a fan of the 90s Hardcore sound (be it Happy Hardcore, UK Hardcore, Breakbeat, or more), you will need to follow RSR Recordings on Soundcloud right now. Their latest mix focusses on the Happy Hardcore side of life! And it's all about the year 1995. It's a good year. I wouldn't say it's the birth year of Happy Hardcore, but it's certainly an important year. Once you've looked at the tracklist, you know why within a split second. To me it was an important year, as Happy Hardcore grew in popularity, and it was just before it became too commercial. So the music was still genuine and not financially driven. And all in all, the music was much better. This and 1996 were the best years for Happy Hardcore, be it Dutch, or British. I hope you are ready for the madness. This mix is sensational, and puts a smile on my face. It certainly makes my Friday go by quicker. And obviously this mix is going to be played over and over again. Are you going to do the same? Midas - Groove Control Ramos, Sunset Regime & Jammin - Nothing But Living Scott Brown - Do What Ya Like (Ramos & Sunset Regime Remix) Ramos, Supreme & Sunset Regime - Sunshine '95 Q-Tex - E-Creations (1995 Remix) Scott Brown - Dreams DJ Vibes - Rave Is A Mystery Q-Tex & Technosis - Kaos Obliterator - Higher (Bang To The Beat) Stingray & Sonicdriver - Cold As Ice Hixxy & Bananaman - Forever Tokyo Ghetto Pussy - I Kiss Your Lips Speedloader - Guilty As Hell Love Bomb - Don't Ya Want My Lovin Lockjaw - Deep In The Underground High Dancity - Is It A Dream (DJ Isaac Mix) D-Zyne & Fury - The Horny Raver Bass-X - Morphine Paul Elstak - Luv U More (DJ Paul Forze Mix) Hixxy & Sharkey - Toy Town Ramos, Supreme & Sunset Regime - In The Place To Be Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - Stars GBT. Inc - Movement Brisk - Airhead (Slipmatt's SMD Remix) Ramos, Supreme & Sunset Regime - Life Force Generator II Paul Elstak - Rainbow In The Sky DJ Weirdo & DJ Sim - Go Get Busy (Extended Rave Mix) Highlander - Hold Me Now (Bass-D & King Matthew Remix) Paul Elstak - Don't Leave Me Alone As you already know (or guessed), I am Dutch (hence the name of my blog). And it makes my reasoning behind the following statement easier: I was more into Dutch Happy Hardcore. Yes, the British sound did appear on many compilations I purchased over the years, but it was mainly the Dutch sound that appealed to me more. It was slightly harder, rougher, and sometimes even cheesier. I don't mind the UK Happy Hardcore sound, especially when it's made by Scott Brown, but the Dutch sound was just the bomb. But now, me being a tad older (27 years older), I do appreciate both sound equally. But I still sadly don't understand the fascination for certain tracks, like 'Toy Town'. To me it's an overrated and overhyped record, not really a classic. Maybe you had to hear it at raves during the 90s in the UK for it to become a classic, but to me it sounds dull? But the same now applies to Paul Elstak's back catalogue. Bit overrated now. Give me the better stuff, the lesser appreciated stuff by Scott Brown, or his billion aliases. The one record that got me hyped the most, is 'I Kiss Your Lips' by Tokyo Ghetto Pussy. Ultimate cheese fest, with very easy to learn lyrics, and it's also extremely catchy as fuck. The mix contains a bit of everything: Dutch, British, cheesy, happy, rough, melodic, piano bits, piano bobs, etc. All jokes aside, this is an excellent mix. Another wicked mix by Ramos and Protocol. Can't wait to hear more mixes, and hopefully their next mix will focus on 1996? Only time will tell on what their next mix will be focussed on. But it's another wicked mix, that's for sure. And now the weekend can officially start. Sorry, can't give this mix 5 stars. If 'Toy Town' wasn't in there, it would have had 5 out of 5! • Sickmode & Rooler presents THE GANG LIVE @ Rebirth 2022

Have I been too long out of the Rawstyle scene? Have I not reviewed enough yet? Clearly not, because I've only stumbled across this set by The Gang today, and it made me wonder who they were. It quickly became clear that it's Rooler and Sickmode together, and they've formed this duo called 'The Gang'. I am aware of both producers/DJs, but wasn't aware they joined forces and created this something magical. But thanks to YouTube for sharing this content. It has certainly made me a very happy Dutchman... and one that's craving for more The Gang. It seems that I'm the only one, because everyone in the crowd at this year's Rebirth 2022 knew of their existence and their records. The crowd literally loose their shit from the first to the last second, and seem to have embraced The Gang. Who wouldn't though? It only took me 30 minutes of them at Rebirth for me to fall in love with their music, and their quirkiness. They bring happiness into their set, and their music might sound chirpier, but it's certainly the opposite, once the beat and bass kicks in. They weren't the only one at Rebirth, but this review is all about the heat they brought to Rebirth. Their set was only 31 minutes long (including an intro), but within those minutes you are thrown from side to side, and the bass keeps coming at you through your speakers. And it goes as raw as you can imagine. It's pure filth, and I love it. And it's now time for me to show you the tracklist. Ready for it? Intro Sickmode - HEY X3 Rooler - YES (THE GANG EDIT) Sickmode - HEY X (LIVE EDIT) Rooler - HAMMERTIME (THE GANG EDIT) Rooler & Sickmode - FIND YOU (WALK AWAY) Rooler & Sickmode - GANG (THE GANG EDIT) Rooler - DISCOTEK (THE GANG EDIT) Rooler - MOVE 2 DA BEAT Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll (Mighty Spiritz Bootleg - Sickmode Edit) DJ Basik - KINGPIN (Rooler Bootleg) Rooler - BOSS (THE GANG EDIT) Sickmode - AUDIO DAMAGE (HEY X3 LIVE EDIT) Sickmode - KLAPLONGEN (THE GANG EDIT) Guru Josh Project - Infinity 2008 Sickmode & Rooler - TOO COLD Rooler - LOVE U BABY (THE GANG EDIT) Sickmode & Rooler - ALL I NEED IS BASS KICK (THE GANG MASHUP) Sickmode & Rooler - CLUB BANGER Sickmode & Rooler - TOO HOT (THE GANG EDIT) Sickmode & Levenkhan & Rooler - LESGOOOO! High Level - LALALA (THE GANG EDIT) Please do not think I'm shouting at you. You might look at the tracklist and think I did it on purpose, but it's all The Gang's fault: their music (and sub sequential tracklist) do scream through your speakers and monitor. What else happens? Well, if you go and watch the YouTube video, you might not want to have your volume on max, as it will blow your speakers up. But if you do by accident, at least they died during something you love. The music is ace, and the video editing is done excellently. And both Rooler and Sickmode seem to have a lot of fun behind the decks. Is this a match made in Heaven? I was pleasantly surprised when I heard this mix for the first time. I had as much fun as Rooler and Sickmode, and their music seems to be just super dope. The crowd agrees, as they are absolutely in the zone during the 30 minutes. And my God, the bass is filthy as fuck. There are 21 tracks to choose from, but 'KLAPLONGEN' is the one that got me going the most. But to be fair: I could be there, at Rebirth, and dance my fucking feet off during each of these tracks. They are all solid dancefloor demolishers. A golden duo. The Gang is here to stay, and the people at Rebirth agreed! And today they've gained another fan... me! • Dougal & Gammer Tribute (2022)

I might be completely out of my mind, but did I read a post the other day, saying that Dougal and Gammer are going to make music again? Was that reality, or was it a dream? Nowadays you never know, but you hope it wasn't an April fools joke. Hopefully that will happen, and we relive the glorious days. The days when Dougal & Gammer rocked the dancefloors all over the UK and the charts. But until the day we hear new music, let's focus on what they made, and what has brought us all together closer on the dancefloors... So today, when I browsed the internet, I found a brand new mix. One made by a DJ who only sporadically goes on Soundcloud. There's only one other mix made and uploaded, and that was the Scott Brown appreciation mix from 3 years ago. For three years Kylemixes has been quiet, but now has returned with a mix dedicated to one of the glorious duos from the UK Hardcore scene, Dougal and Gammer. As you are also aware, I'm a huge fan of the early D&G stuff. The early stuff is just the best. Just what the scene needed. And I've also purchased a lot of their stuff, including the 'best of' CD, and Gammer's own CD. Huge fan of their approach to UK Hardcore, and their take on it. I'm not the only one who still adores the sound of D&G, right? Maybe that's why they are getting back in the studio? It's about bloody time! So which 18 records did Kylemixes choose for this dedication mix? Well, these: Dougal & Gammer feat Jenna - Heaven On Earth Dougal & Gammer - Addiction Dougal & Gammer - Crack Whore Dougal & Gammer feat Lisa Marie - How Did I Get Here Dougal & Gammer - Rock The Dancefloor Dougal & Gammer - 3000 Cycles Dougal & Gammer - Pump Up The Noise Dougal & Gammer feat Jenna - Fires In The Sky Dougal & Gammer - The 6th Gate Dougal & Gammer - Higher Than Heaven Dougal & Gammer feat Lisa Marie - Tell Me A Story Dougal & Gammer - Make Some Noise Dougal & Gammer - Get Hype Dougal & Gammer feat Stefan B - Fall From The Stars Dougal & Gammer - Distorted Visions Dougal & Gammer feat MC Smiley & Jenna - Ordinary People Dougal & Gammer - Stand & Stare (Kick Ya Legs) Dougal & Gammer - Stomp So, that happened. If you are like me, and you love the D&G sound, you will know that this mix won't disappoint you. It's nicely mixed together, and not insanely complicated like Gammer normally mixes stuff together (500 tracks in 10 seconds). Instead, you get a nicely composed mix. An hour and a half long, and only 18 records. So be ready for D&G overload!!! I do love their music when it's all melodic, and heavenly. But what appeals the most to me is their usage of vocalists, especially female vocalists, like Jenna and Lisa Marie. My God, these vocalists have got the voices of angels! And D&G made good use of them: many of their biggest hits are in collaboration with vocalists. And to me, those songs always rock the hardest. Especially 'Tell Me A Story'. Can't go to a rave and hear this without singing along. Come on, you aren't that stupid. You need to scream these lyrics, and you scream them out loud! A fantastic mix. If it takes kylemixes 3 years for each mix, then my advice would be 'take as much time as you need'. Which dedication mix will be next? Can''t wait. Only 1094 days until the next mix! • Trance Origins (1991-93) (2022)

The last couple of months one specific user on Soundcloud got a lot of attention. And the DJ in question is 'J.O.E.' You must have seen his mixes fly by every so often, and his mixes touch upon a wide variety of genres. Today's mixes is a special one, and an educational one too. The focus is Trance music. And no, not the Trance we all know and love (Millennium Trance), but the early Trance. And when I say early, I do mean early: the tracks from the year 1991 until 1993! Now that's early, eh? It isn't the Trance you are familiar with. It is the foundation of what was to become. The grounds on which Trance became popular. And you can hear a lot of influences for many years to come. These tracks might have been called Trance records, but they were inspired by other styles, like House, Techno, etc. But you can hear where the sound is going to. Only 9-7 years later would it become this world wide phenomena we all came to love. I am one of those people who think you can't go any earlier than 1997, but there was already a huge scene in the making. Trance has been there for many years, but maybe because I was fully focussed on Hardcore/Gabber music, I just never paid attention. So now J.O.E. will take me on this journey to when I was 8 to 10 years old. And educate myself... it's never too late to learn. Resistance D - Cosmic Love Quench - Dreams Exit EEE - Epidemic Velocity - Future Humate - Love Simulation (Love Mix) Trans Motion - Message II Jam & Spoon - Follow Me Coloured Vision - Violet Rain Influx - Braineater Trans Motion - Pureerotomania (Container Remix) John Sferos - Trance Form Resistance D - Human Superspy - The Fall The Tempodorm - Tragic Myth Paragliders - Paraglide Paragon - Everything Was Legal No Man's Land - Termination Zx Influid II - Mastermind Insider - Destiny Gain Force - X-Emption (Mandala Remix) Amporh - The Dream Cryptic Diffusion - Adhesiveness Ultraworld - Streams Norman - No Big Deal Amporh - Fractal Accident Jim Clarkee - Daytona Jens Lissat - The Future ScanX - Aum Mandala - The Encore (Acid Mix) Virtual Symmetry - Discovered Theme Cryptic Diffusion - Epiphany Jones & Stephenson - The First Rebirth Out Of Order - Tears This is a throwback mix. The music does not sound dated as much as you want it to be, but you can tell these tunes were made at the beginning of the 90s. It has this distinctive sound. Still highly enjoyable, don't get me wrong. J.O.E. picked his favourite tracks from 1991 to 1993, and I can see why he'd gone with these tracks. Highly enjoyable, still influenced by a lot of other genres. Some even dab in the harder styles, like Hardcore. For example 'The First Rebirth'... an all time classic. A Trance song with a lot of Hardcore in it. Some would say it's one of the first big Hardcore anthems ever, but you cannot deny the Trance in this song. The song is definitely one of the strongest Hardcore anthems ever made. Without Trance no Hardcore? Is that a statement and a half? All jokes aside, J.O.E.'s mix is highly entertaining and has got me thinking: how much great music have I missed? Was I way too focussed on the harder sounds released back in the 90s? I've got a lot of catching up to do. Starting with this mix. And hopefully more will come in the near future. It always made me wonder: do these artists who made these songs actually know what their song led to? Did they know Trance would become such a world wide phenomena? They were there at the beginning and influenced many upcoming producers, who would (10 years later) take it to a whole new level. I really enjoyed this mix. A few tiny mixing/cross fading errors, but nothing major. Be educated enough to enjoy this mix. Sit back, and enjoy! DJ: J.O.E. • THE LAST RONIN: EPISODE I (2022)

It's Sunday, and I'm a tad hungover. Why, you might be asking? Well, we had a nice day in central London yesterday, celebrating the Dutch King's birthday, near Moorgate, and I had a few beverages. And normally I wouldn't want to listen to anything hard, rough and fast the day I'm experiencing a hangover, but truth be told, I really wanted to hear a specific mix I've seen on Soundcloud the other day, one that blew my mind, and nearly my car speakers, into a million pieces. Anyone familiar with Dubstep? If so, you'll love this mix. All jokes aside, we all love a bit of Dubstep, don't we? And when I discovered this mix, I had to listen to it. A dope image to go along with it, but it's not the image that speaks, it's the music. And even though I've never heard of Benzo, his mix has grabbed me by my throat, and hasn't let go of it for a few days. And I'm not the only one who really likes this mix: this mix has got only positive feedback so far. And guess what I'm going to give this mix? Well, you just have to wait until the end of the review (or you can just scroll to the end of this review to find the answer...) I've lost touch of what happens in the Dubstep scene, but what I've not lost, is my love for the music. The music is ace, and sometimes exactly what we need to hear. Benzo's mix has got a deeper meaning to it, and it's worth reading why on his Soundcloud page. But for now, let's focus on the music, the 43 records he has selected for this 60 minute long mix. Ready for the tracklist? Benzo - Go Ju Wu Tang Intro Codd Dubz - Sidewalk Psycho Dack Janiels - Fancy Footwork Aweminus & Dack Janiels - Serious Sam Bainbridge - Raver's Anthem Rezz x Deathpact - Chemical Bond Louijayxx - Knockout Stoned Level - Fuck Em Nazaar feat Luiejayxx - Shadows Zomboy - Like A Bitch (Kill The Noise Remix) Codd Dubz - SKURD Stoned Level - Annihilate Benzo - ID Ivory, Yakz & Codd Dubz - Dirty Dogs ID - Grove Street (Bonkers Edit) Svdden Death - Chor (Space Wizard Bootleg) Heritage - Get Up On It Focuss - Get Back ID - No Hands (Bonkers Edit) Louiejayxx - Mental Fools Of Wisdom - Hardcore Benzo - ID Boogie T x Habstrakt x Jacknife - TikTok Hype (Benzo Edit) ID - Really Really I'm Professor Genius (Benzo Edit) Drinkurwater - Space Water ID - Babatunde (Space Wizard Reimagination) Lumberjvks & Odd Language - Frequency Tremors - Volume Check Lucci x Point.blank - Wonky Getter x Ghostmane - Hack_Slash (Noughts Flip) ID - Trampoline (OG Nixon Edit) Subtronics x Rich Chigga x Cinema Crystalize - Seventeen Tractors (Benzo Edit) Louiejayxx - Pop Like Codd Dubz - Pass That Echo Drone - Brake Check Stoned Level - The Hound Benzo - ID Jairu - Wita Mask Superfresh - Run Ya Mouth Moody Good & Slander feat Karra - Heart Break (Aweminus Remix) Krowd KTRL - Money Talk$ Too Kind - Burn Zeds Dead x MKLA - Alive (Louiejayxx Remix) This was an hour that flew by quicker than imagined. Why? Well, because the music is ace. A nice flow throughout this mix, and Benzo keeps the entertainment level really high. If you can sit through this without moving one millimetre, there must be something wrong with you. How can you sit still? This is good Dubstep. I've not heard of Benzo before, but this mix really impressed me. And I've played this over and over multiple times already. Have I enjoyed myself? A lot, and that's the truth. I even listened to this mix on my way home, during the Friday rush hour on the M25, and the bass was so filthy and hard, it made most of the car tremble. But in all honesty, isn't that the only way to appreciate Dubstep music? If it doesn't bang your speakers, it doesn't bang at all? What's there to say about this mix that hasn't been said on Soundcloud already? It's a big mix, and I'm really enjoying this mix a lot. I don't review many Dubstep mixes, but when I do get the chance to review one, it's always a pleasure to listen to them. And Benzo's mix is truly one that will remain in my favourite list on Soundcloud. Dope ass mix. Worth checking out, if you want to have something playing through your speakers during this Bank holiday weekend. Give yourself permanent brain damage, but the good kind. And blow up your car speakers! • Make or Break Showcase Vol 4 - Sekl (2022)

Wednesday seems to be a good day for me. More reviews on a Wednesday, so consider yourself lucky. First one was Hardstyle, second one was Hardcore, and now we go and venture in the wonderful world we call Drum & Bass. And today's mix is presented to us by Make or Break. And the mix itself was made by Sekl. Not familiar with either of these names, so let's focus on the music instead, and see if the mix is big enough for me to give them a follow (and maybe you, the reader, too)? I think this mix came to my attention because of a repost by Selectabwoy. He's one of my most favourite DJs of all time, so when he reposts stuff, you know it's going to be great. And it is looking great. Even though both names Make or Break and Sekl are unknown to me, the mix starts brilliantly, and for the next 67 minutes, Sekl takes us on a journey. A pleasant journey through the wonderful world of Drum & Bass and Jungle. It is nice to see new names in the scene, and hear a brand spanking new mix that does not sound like anything else you've heard before. Also, 90% of these records are brand new to me, so that's an added bonus: hearing something new each day. But is it worth your time, your precious time? Is it worth sitting through this for 67 minutes? Well, that's up to you to decide, but if you were to listen to me, my answer would be 'yes'. It's worth every second listening to this. Blowfly - Sesame Street (Sekl Street Remix) Sekl - Carrion VIP Fracture & Neptune - Firefly Laytn - The Great Worm Friske - Dark Assemble Krugah - Funky Drummers Revenge Take 2 Abstract Drumz - Nothing Changes Imran Graffiti - Sisyphus Holsten - Figure Out The Name Amos Keato - Some Dread Purpose (Sekl Remix) Elementz Of Noize - The Baddest Metro - Blue Walk Ben Kei - Out Of Reach Sekl - Dreams In Audio Marcus Intalex - Qwer Key Density - Who Wants Some Laytn - Youth Laytn - Carousel Greenleaf - Introspection Laytn - Dust & Ages (Silence Groove Remix) Seba - Lviv The mix is dope. Seriously dope. The hour flies by before you know it. And that's a good thing. You don't want to sit there, listening to something, and be bored stiff. Sekl does an amazing job, and keeps the listeners entertained. Good choice Make or Break to have Sekl make this mix. If you are interested in this, make sure you check out Make or Break on Soundcloud, and underneath the mix, there's a link to their Bandcamp page. Worth checking out. Back to this mix. 'Funky Drummers Revenge Take 2' is such a sick record. Probably my favourite of this mix. The mix is tight, very tight. Sekl takes you on a journey through Drum & Bass and Jungle, and it's very pleasant to hear these tunes coming at you through your speakers. You might think during the first few second 'wtf is this', but trust Sekl, he'll take it back on track before you know it! A very pleasant mix. It is time for me to mellow down, and enjoy this mix once more. And so should you! Check out Make or Break and Sekl on Soundcloud! • Hardcore Memoirs Volume 1 (2010)

I started this morning with a Hardstyle mix, and now I'm back to the Hardcore sound I love. And it's a 12 year old mix I want to discuss. It was uploaded many moons ago onto Soundcloud by a DJ called Inyoung. Not sure if I've seen his name before, but I was still going to check this mix, as it's got a tracklist, and it's a Hardcore mix. What else is there to wish for, right? An hour long mix, with a lot of records I've never heard of. And after only listening to it once, I'm blown away. Seriously blown away! I've not heard of this artist before, but checking his Soundcloud page, he's not been active for a few years now. So I can't even say what he's been doing lately, I can only go by the info on this mix, which was uploaded 12 years ago. If anyone knows a bit more about this DJ/producer, please do let me know. If I read the internet correctly, this is an American DJ/producer, who has had some releases on big labels all over the world. And in this 'Hardcore Memoirs Volume One' mix he has played his own productions/remixes. So I might not have heard of Inyoung before, I can go back in time (be it 12 years) and hear what he made. Ready to dive into the unknown with me? Here we go: Intro DJ Inyoung & Static - Build The Future Broken Rules - Attention (DJ Inyoung Remix) Nervebreaker - Worst Fucking Nightmare (DJ Inyoung Remix) DJ Inyoung & Static - Beat Down Nervebreaker - Woah! (DJ Inyoung Remix) DJ Inyoung & Static - This Is L.A. Used & Abused - Give It To Me 2009 (Inyoung Hardcore Remix) Forsaken Is Dead - Funeral Service (DJ Inyoung Remix) DJ Inyoung & Static - Respect The Enemy Tommyknocker - World Is Mine (DJ Inyoung & Static vs System Snare Remix) DJ Inyoung & Static - The Message DJ Inyoung & Static - Bring It Raw Unreleased - Ain't No Stoppin This (DJ Inyoung Remix) Meanstreak - Los Angeles Massacre (DJ Inyoung Remix) DJ Paul - The Power Of The Darkside (DJ Inyoung & Static Bootleg Remix) Delta-9 - No More Regrets (DJ Inyoung & Static Remix) Even though this name is a complete unknown to me, the tracks in this mix speak to me. It captures a period in the Hardcore scene when Hardcore appealed a lot to me. It was way after the Millennium bug bit us, and it was exactly what I wanted to hear. Not the present day Hardcore, which is OK to be fair, but the mid to late 2000s were the years for me. Maybe still considered to be Millennium Hardcore, but hey ho, give it a name. The mix is tight. And it's got some good feedback. Maybe not the plays it should deserve but there's still time. The tracks resemble a time in the Hardcore scene which I adore, and it ticks all the boxes. It's got the right vibe, it's got the right atmosphere. DJ Inyoung, whoever it might be, made some wicked Hardcore tracks that deserve more appraisal. Really loving the vibes. I'm sitting here, WFH, and I'm bouncing up and down. Could be because of the amount of caffeine in my veins, but I'm 90% sure it's all because of this mix. There are some ridiculous songs in here and two of the finest are 'Ain't No Stoppin This' and 'Give It To Me 2009'. Pure and unadulterated mid to late 2000s Hardcore. Fucking love it! A mix worth listening to, if you haven't already. And does anyone know what has happened to DJ Inyoung, as he's been quiet on Soundcloud for roughly 10 years? • April 2022 Live Mix

In the Netherlands we've got a saying: Wednesday, minced meat day (Woensdag, gehaktdag). We are aware that this is a silly phrase, because every day is minced meat day. So maybe we should give it a spin, and update it. It is 2022, and the world is slowly changing, so let's change it to Wednesday, Hardstyle day. And to introduce the world to this new concept is DJ Thera. Not to say that he's responsible for this new concept, and I do hope he doesn't mind, but his mix was the first one I listened today (which is, funnily enough, a Wednesday). So there we go. All jokes aside, we should embrace the harder styles more than we do. Every bloody day is a specific day, so why not have it once a year? Maybe today, the 27th of April could be a good day? The sun is going to enlighten us with its sunrays, and we are at the start of the Summer period (ish). Give the Dutch the recognition they deserve, and let's make it a world wide phenomena! Don't know if Thera is the one to do it: he might not want to, but I just picked his name, because his mix is literally the first thing I heard this morning (at 6 am). Over the years I've reviewed a few of Thera's mixes and albums, and even seen him live at GPF's event. One very talented DJ and producer, and who loves Hardstyle so much, it's unbelievable. And his latest tunes are gaining a lot of attention from the raving masses all over the world, and for good reason. And in his latest April promo mix you can find 20 of the finest tracks, and the majority are made by Thera. So if you are unfamiliar with his name or what he's capable of, don't you worry: he's got that covered! So which tracks are in this April mix? Well, these 20! DJ Thera - Tranceparency Rainer K & Tim Hidgem - Promised Land (Andrea Montorsi Remix) MOTi - Don't Go Lose It (Technoboy Remix) DJ Thera feat Yuna-X - Starfleet (T.C.C. DJ Thera feat Nova Jae - Breakaway Geck-O - Ill Behaviour DJ Thera - Get High DJ Thera - Can't Fight This Feeling (Alternative Mix) DJ Thera feat Myke - Until We Meet Again B-Front & DJ Thera - R.E.M. Coma (DJ Thera Live Mix) DJ Thera feat Marissa - Far Away DJ Thera & Kruelty - The Watchmen This is a nice looking tracklist. With a few known and a few new tracks, this gets you up and dancing. And there are multiple things good about this mix and its tracks, and one of them being that he (Thera) is making these tracks in the 20s, but they have got this early Hardstyle/Hard Trance vibe around it. If you'd close your eyes and hear one of these tracks in a classic Hardstyle/Hard Trance set, you wouldn't be able to tell. It's only an hour long, but within those 60 minutes, DJ Thera takes you on a journey. And that's going to be a very pleasant journey. Unless you aren't a fan of Hardstyle/Hard Trance/Hard House, and if that's the case, why the fuck are you reading this? I've got only love to give for this wicked mix. It's a wicked one, with a lot of excellent tunes. Too many to choose from. 'Tranceparency' is one of my favourites. It's got Trance influences, but yet is fast enough for me to like. Hard Trance all the way! Thanks Thera for this excellent mix. And now, let's make Hardstyle Wednesday a thing! And to kickstart it all, let's enjoy this excellent mix! • RAVE ALERT Label Showcase (22.04.2022)

I am back! After a week offline, I have now returned, and today we are going to talk about Rave. More specifically, RAVE ALERT! It sounds like a public service announcement, but it's not (or maybe it is?). But it's not. It's a label showcase mix by Audioholik. When I saw the title of this mix, and the tracklist, I thought 'how did I miss this label?', but quickly realised that this is a fairly new label, so I haven't missed out on much yet! But what is this RAVE ALERT all about? This is a fairly new label, with the promise to keep the early sound alive. And they are doing a great job. And if you are a bit like me, you might be wondering if that is the case? Well, yes. Press the play button and you will hear it for yourself. All brand new tracks, but with this distinctive early sound surrounding it. And you all know I am a sucker for the early sound. Can't beat it, hands down. This Belgian label took Audioholik by surprise, and he decided to give us a showcase mix with a few of the tracks released on this label. And as I'm new to this Neorave label, it's a good introduction to this new world. Neorave? You learn something new every day! So, instead of faffing around, let's us jump straight into the tracklist. Here it is: Pako Marckx - The Morally Corrupt Geck-O - You Now Control Me Madora - Arkadia Axyom - Reward System Geck-O - You Call That Dancing Dyen - Venom (Madora Remix) Thogy, Minus 25 - Mass Hysteria Geck-O - Hyper Hyper Hyper Hyper Alt8 - Rise Of The Humanmind Madora - Voices Of Evil DXPE - Most Wanted Kø:lab - Devastate Sonico - Prepare For Domination Madora - The Moment Geck-O - Ill Behaviour Teokad, Void Builder - Ramdam Sadly I only know one artist in this mix, which is Geck-O, and all the others are unknown to me, up until today (of course). But it's not about who made the tune, it's more important what the tune can do to you. Can it make you move, or will you remain seated? That's the all important question. If it doesn't make you move, that's not great. But that won't happen during this mix, trust me! The tunes take me back to the early days, that's for sure. I like the fact that recently more and more artists have stepped up their game, and there's this resurgence of earlier sounding styles, like Hardcore, Hardstyle, and more. It brings joy to my heart. It makes me smile from ear to ear. And this new label fits the bill well. Audioholik's mix is dope, and it's a very good introduction for me to this new label. It has given me much joy, this mix. My second day of being back in the UK after a short holiday in the Netherlands, but now I'm back. And this first mix is certainly a banger. Audioholik has done a great job, and also the people responsible for this label RAVE ALERT have done a great job. I'll go on the hunt for more music from this label, I need more! • Tracksuits And Horns 2 (2022)

Last review of this week. Yes, it might sound a tad weird, but I'll be going back to the Netherlands with the wife for a few days, so I won't be able to be online. Technically speaking I could be online, but I can simply not be arsed. So instead of not doing anything, here's the third review of the day. One of the previous reviews was a Happy Hardcore one, and another one was an Early Terror one. How about we end today with a Gabber one? And one made by DJ Virus. You know him, right? The title of this mix is 'Tracksuits and Horns', volume 2. Now, I love me a tracksuit. I am Dutch, for crying out loud. We all had one at one stage. Most Gabbers during the 90s lived in those. Horns I couldn't give a flying fuck about, but the tracksuits were life. They were a culture on its own. Now it's all about fitness and going to the gym, or trendy knobs wearing them, but for those Hardcore fanatics, it was life. And they were comfortable too. If you had to pick: jeans and a t-shirt or tracksuits? You clearly know the answer, if you've ever been in a nice one! Now I'm familiar with the old Gabber sound, but not with the 'newer' sound. But over the years it's grown on me, and I've grown accustomed to it. It can never top the classic sound, but it sure as hell comes close. And in this mix DJ Virus decided to cram in the big ones. You might not have heard them before (as they are fresh and fairly new), but once you give this a chance, you will love it a lot. And I do mean a lot. Here's the tracklist for you all: X4Phantom & Ad - Make The Floor Burn Wicked XXX - Ruffer Ferra - Hold Me Back Immutek - Da Wayz Of The Underground Wicked XXX - Ghettoblast Lockjaw - Hypa X-Fly - Check It Out X4Phantom & Ad - Can't Stop Wicked XXX - Blow Your Whistle Painbringer - Sidious Lockjaw - The Final Point Reeza - Rock The Funky Beats X-Fly - I'm Juggernaut, Bitch M-Project - Underground Vibes Wicked XXX - Danger Zone Biodome - Sounds Of The Jungle Lockjaw - Tear This MF Up Jawcep - Watch This X-Fly - Proof The Point Biodome - Watch Out Wicked XXX - Danga This is a wicked mix. And I'm not lying. I have been listening to this mix a few times now, and every time it makes me happy. Sitting here in my Gabber bubble, no one can harm me. And that's all we ever wanted. Our own world, filled with Gabber music 24/7. This mix is tight. And a few classics in the making. They aren't old yet, but they will increase in value soon. Once the masses are aware of what these tracks can do, they will jump aboard this ship, and ride it like never before. It's really a wicked thing to hear music being made in 2022 with a hint of early Gabber. It's a great time to be alive. It's faced paced, and that's the way I like it. Not a lot of sitting around doing nothing. On the contraire, my son. DJ Virus plays these tunes, to make you dance. You think you can take a breather? No no no. Why would you? A seriously insane mix. I really enjoyed it. 21 amazing tracks, carefully mixed and selected by DJ Virus. A new name in my books who's Soundcloud channel became one I started following a long time ago, but only fully appreciated since I heard his Hard Cheese mixes. And now with this Tracksuits and Horns mix he's proven to me he can do everything. More of these please! They make me and many others very happy! • DJ A.K. - Ultimate Hardcore Cheddar Mix 17.12.21

It's time for some cheese. And I don't mean the actual bit you put in your mouth and tastes disgusting, but no: cheesy music! You all know I'm a huge fan (sometimes, not always!) But today I fancied a bit of it, and one of the first mixes that appeared on my timeline on Soundcloud was a mix made by DJ A.K. Not his first mix to appear on this website (mine of course), and I'm guessing it won't be the last. Today's mix is all about the cheese, and his selection of tracks made me wonder; can it be any cheesier than this? You will know what I mean if you look at the tracklist below. So much cheese, but that's part of my youth: you had your gabber, and your happy Hardcore music. It was both present during my teenage years, and yes, I've raved to both. Not saying these are really amazing records, but they were on cassettes and CDs when I was younger. Don't get me wrong: most of these artists and songs were played by me, and I still find extremely satisfying to listen to. But some are just beyond cheese. Would that bother me? Not really, as this mix is all about happiness. DJ A.K. delivers yet another wicked set, and all these songs fit in nicely. To put it into perspective: I've not even skipped once. Yeah, some tracks are just bad, but they fit in. If that makes sense. You now want to see the tracklist. Don't lie to me. You really want to. So here it is: DJ Paul Elstak - Don't Leave Me Alone (Album Version) Critical Mass - Happy Generation DJ Paul Elstak - The Promised Land (Digidance Extended Mix) 4 Tune Fairytales - My Little Fantasy (Scarface's Remix) DJ E-Rick & Tactic - Bring The Noise Critical Mass - Believe In The Future Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - Hardcore Feelings (Club Mix) Love Child - All Out Of Love (DJ Weirdo & DJ Sim Remix) Wicked Dimension - Everytime I Think Of You Critical Mass - Burning Love (2 Da Core Mix) Highlander - Last Forever Dune - Rainbow To The Stars Marusha - It Takes Me Away Interactive - Living Without Your Love Mark'Oh - Love Song Credibility - Always Peace Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - Party Universe - Everybody Is A Star Trancehistory - Doo Dey Doo Dey Mindtrust - Ravers Groove Wonderland - Be On A Star (Ferocious Mix) Uranus - Flowed On A Vibe (Club Mix) DJ Paul Elstak - Rave On As much as we might hate cheesy music, we do need it, right? Not every day! Hell no, it would drive me mad. I have already listened to this over and over in the 90s, I couldn't do that anymore. But once every blue Moon is acceptable. As wouldn't you believe it: today's that day! DJ A.K's mix is very good. A good selection of everything 'known' and 'unknown'. Yes, he had to play a few well known classics by Paul Elstak, Critical Mass, Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo, 4 Tune Fairytales and more. A nicely balanced mix. And I like it. But which track did I like the most? Well, it's Marusha's 'It Takes Me Away'. Fuck me, what a banging German track! Still to this day a banging tune. Play that in any set, and the crowds will loose their shit! It is cheese fest galore, but A.K knew that there are people out there who LOVE it. And secretly I do too! Not so much of a fan of Mark'Oh, or most of Paul Elstaks early stuff. But hey ho, you can't have it all, eh? DJ: A.K. • T-Log @ The Box Closing Set [Revisited] (2019)

I've had a wonderful Easter Bank holiday, hopefully you had a wonderful few days too. But now I'm back (only for a day, as we are going back to NL tomorrow for a short break). And what a way to start your first day back at work with something hard, fast, and ferocious. You know you want something fast and hard, especially when it's this early. We all hate waking up this early, and listening to the standard radio nonsense. It's dreadful. So what do we need? Some Terror/Early Terror! That's right. Don't try to hide your enthusiasm, I can see it on your face! The artist who made this set is a complete unknown to me. I think the algorithm of Soundcloud decided that I should be listening to this, or someone reposted it. How else would I be able to find this? But thanks to the algorithm (or the person reposting this), I am really grateful for them doing that. This set first came to my attention last week, and I've played this over and over. It's hard, fast, and indeed ferocious. And I'm fucking digging this a lot! And it's filled with Early Terror songs. They aren't that old, but fairly new. But they maintain this early Terror sound. And I'm happy for that: I am really liking the fact that new producers are doing their best to keep the earlier sound alive, not only the Terror side of Hardcore, but Hardcore in general. And in this case it results in an hour long set with some sick tracks. I'm a lover of the early sound, but not a connoisseur, so I'm not familiar with a few names. You might? See if you recognise any of these names? HCM - Breathless X² - NY Distortion Redlock - Kapitalizm Xearo - Battle Royale Enforex & Hyperactive-D - Hudobny Turista The Liquidators - Glauben Sie Mir! The Hitman - Drop One Enforex - Gabbers United Anthem (2015) The Destroyer - Drax Dungeon (Speedfolter Remix) 909 Junkies - Fuckin Dickhead The Destroyer - Step Of God (Speedfolter Remix) Speedfolter vs The Hitman vs Enforex - Fuckin' Gabba The Hitman vs Speedfolter - War Of Terror Northern Terrorists & Hyperactive-D - No New Style Ravebusters - Achtung RMX (HCM Edit) HCM - Deleted HCM & Pardonax - Sleepwalkerz Hellcreator - No New Style HCM - Body Movin In A Wooden Box HCM - Do That Lithium - Uncompressed When you think nothing can surprise you anymore, and then this happens. If this doesn't wake you up, what will? I am sitting here, woke up too damn early, but now I'm on a roll. The Early Terror buzz is what I'm currently experiencing! T-Log's set is a good 'un. It's really hard and fast, and as a good early Terror set should be, it starts off a tad 'slow'-ish, and builds up to a hideous thing. A fast pace ending is exactly what is needed, and is exactly what you are getting. He's giving the audience something to listen to, and it's glorious. It cannot be hard nor fast enough for me. Again, not familiar with the artist nor the event he played at. But what I can say is, is that his set is dope. And it has reached 18.5k+ plays in the short period it's been on Soundcloud. People seem to love it a lot. Only love and appreciation for this set. From the first to the last set, the BPMs might come flying at you, but it's really a blessing. A cool set. Best song? The first one. 'Breathless' by HCM. Love it! • Sounds of the KVLT 39: GLOWKiD (2022)

I'm still riding the rave train today. First I was fully into Gabber music, and now I'm on a rave buzz. All thanks to our Greek friend GLOWKiD! You might have seen his name here and there on our website, but if you haven't, and you need a quick introduction, here's the introduction: he's a music fanatic from Greece. And he loves everything Rave related. Just look at the above picture, where he's wearing funky green frame colour glasses, a glowstick in his mouth, and a raver t-shirt. How more rave-ish can you get? He is the true definition of a rave fanatic! So why am I speaking about GLOWKiD? Well, a mix he made appeared on my timeline earlier this morning. A mix for Nü Kvlture. This Serbian based collective have asked the rave fanatic to come up with a mix. And the 39th instalment was mixed together by him. Only 48 minutes long, but within those minutes you get the finest rave anthems. Dancefloor smashers. How he found these record, God only knows. But most of these are well known to yours truly, but these remixes aren't. So it's a reintroduction for me. A different approach to the already legendary tunes. And after hearing his mix a few times, I had to share it with you all. When I say classics, I do mean classics. Being revamped obviously, but it's nice to see and hear that these classics are still out there and enjoyed. Here's the tracklist. Don't salivate too much on your keyboard/phone... Kiddy.Wav - R U KIDDY ME DJ Freelancer - PPK Edit DJ Tomcraft - Loneliness (POLO LILLI Bootleg) SPRNTR - ACID ATLETIKA SIIKO - Rave Station (OG Mix) The Prodigy - Timebomb Zone (Pete S Remix) Liquid Crystal - You Got Me (Tom Heist Remix) Cappella - Ya Gotta Know (Gareth Monks Remix) Culture Beat - Mr. Vain (Ac1d Vicious Breakcore Bootleg) Gala - Freed From Desire (HNGVR x UnoTurbo 160 Flip) Acen - Obsessed (Coco Bryce Remix) TRAELMYX - WHERE U AT Ultrademon - Yr So Wet LFO - LFO (Doctor Jeep NYC Warehouse Mix) We Rob Rave - I Believe When I typed the tracklist, it made me laugh for a split second. I call myself a rave lover, but don't know any of these records. Well, that's not 100% true: I do know the originals, but these remixes aren't known to me. So maybe I shouldn't call myself a rave lover, but more a rave enthusiast? At least I'm more than a rave noob. Don't want to be that. Got too many years of listening to rave music under my belt, but evidentially less than GLOWKiD. The mix contains a fair few of really awesome records. A nice selection made by GLOWKiD, but leave that up to him, and you know you won't be disappointed. The man lives and breathes rave music, and his selection shows. Again, how did he find these records, these underground anthems? All jokes aside, it's a slamming mix. After my full on Gabber and Speedcore morning I had to end it on a high, and GLOWKiD's mix has truly given me everything I needed. Pianos, breakbeats, rave, the lot. It's a mix worth checking out. The best record? 'Yr So Wet'. Big underground vibes throughout this mix. Love it! Check this mix out! You will be thanking me (and GLOWKiD after)! • Club Trance Madness - Part One (2021)

The last couple of days I've been a bit busy, hence why there has not been a review for 5 days. But now I'm back with a super dope mix. Remember Club Trance? The style that dominated the early 2000s? I remember it well, and when it emerged, I was hooked. But I'm guessing that I wasn't the only one. The sound swept the nation, and got everyone dancing. Including yours truly. And over the years it sadly changed, and the music from the Millennium faded into obscurity, but thankfully to someone on Soundcloud it has been brought to my attention again. So today it's all about Club Trance! How's that, eh? A good start to your Tuesday, or whichever day you are reading this. When Marnix Mulder uploaded this on his Soundcloud, I had to jump on it. But this is only part one: three other mixes can be found on his Soundcloud page. And if you are feeling this first mix, you will definitely need to check out the others, because they are glorious too. I've been listening to them over and over the last few days, and I'm feeling 20 years younger again. That's the secret power of Club Trance. I found his page a long time ago, and it's jam packed with Trance music. From the bog standard Trance to Club Trance to Hard Trance. Everything Trance related can be found on his channel. So for proper Trance fanatics his page is the place to be. And I thoroughly enjoy visiting it, to check mixes I might have missed. But today it's all about Club Trance. Do you remember Club Trance? Do you remember the tunes you are glancing at? And can you believe these are already classics? Older than you might think? And do you miss it? Do you miss this style? If you do, you are not the only one. Let's just have a look at the tracklist, and see if it ignites the Club Trance fire again. It most definitely will... Three Drives On A Vinyl - Greece 2000 CRW - I Feel Love (Extended Mix) Woody van Eyden - Time Now (ATB Mix) S.O. Project - Direct Dizko Club Robbers - Bugsy's Attack The Multidubbers - The Infusion Pump Legendary - Legendary (Original Mix) Mike Koglin - The Silence (John B. Norman Remix) B.O.B. Ltd - Piano 2000 (Full Version) Dejure - Sanctuary Candy Girls - Bom Da De (Original Extended) Relic vs E. Craig - Feel Like Running Southside Spinnners - Luvstruck (Original Mix) G-Spott - Melo-G (Club Mix) Secret Diary feat Supermax - Lovemachine (John B. Norman Mix) The Beatshop - Read My Lips (Sex Me Up!) Mark Van Dale with Enrico - Power Woman (Vengaboys Remix) Collusion - Impetuous (Extended) Absolom - Secret (Jimmy Goldschmitz Mix) Carlos - The Sillmarillia (Extended Mix) The Mackenzie feat Jessy - Innocence (Hidden Sound System Remix) Boccaccio Life - The Secret Wish (Original Club Mix) Summer Madness - Summer Power DJ Jurgen - Higher & Higher (Magica Remix) Dave Holmes - Samsara (Steve Morley Mix) Steve Morley - Reincarnations 040 feat Erika Baxter - Ibiza Dreams (Lost Witness Remix) The mix starts off very strong, with a serious dancefloor smasher. And throughout this mix the pace is steady. And you will love it. I've certainly enjoyed this mix a lot. It's full of awesomeness. So many great tracks. These bring back memories, especially of me buying a lot of CDs with Club Trance anthems on them. Most of them were Arcade CDs. They were keen on making a few bucks out of this 'new' sound. Most of the CDs were utter garbage, but some contained the big hits. Marnix, the man behind this mix, has delivered an awesome mix. Truly astonishing mix. It starts with a banger, and continues throughout. Yeah, it might have a few stinkers, but the majority of tracks are just ace. Two really stand out for me: the track by Carlos (a.k.a. Carlo Resoort) and my personal favourite: CRW's 'I Feel Love'. What a underrated classic. A truly amazing mix. 2 hours long, and those two hours fly by before you know it. Blink, and yo might have missed it. Go and listen to this, you won't regret it. I've not regretted it whatsoever, and I'm sitting here with a huge grin on my face! • The Relic's "Total Recall" Megamix [The Second Stage] (2018)

Today I was in the office, and I was the only one of my team in. No one to disturb me, or no one to bother me (both have the same meaning, but you know what I'm saying). From 7:30 until 16:00 I had the whole domain to myself, and what is it that I did? I did my standard work, but with some music accompanying me. I started off with KenLio86's mix, which were awesome. Seriously impressive stuff (and I've reviewed them before). But I needed something new, something fresh. And also a super cool megamix. Did I find one? I found multiple, all made by The Relic, but only one will be talked about. And you will understand why... I am probably not the only one on this Earth who gets too damn bored listening to the standard radio hits. It just doesn't get me going, and makes the day drag on too damn long. So I need something hard, rough, and nostalgic. I've not heard of The Relic before, but when I saw what he did, I had to jump on this Early Hardcore mix. A proper megamix, if I'd say so. How proper? Well, the mix is nearly 2 1/2 hours long, and it's got 250 records in it. I am not joking! And I'm dreading typing the tracklist, but for once I'm not going to do that. I'll just copy-paste it. Much easier. But what surprises me is how the mix is build up. Yes, a lot of cutting and pasting stuff, but it just feels so natural. There's a constant flow of music. And it seems to blend in nicely. If you blink once, he'd already played 10 records! No joke. You won't know what hit you. The amount of records and how many are known to me personally, is insane. This is a megamix like you've never seen or heard before. So, here it comes... the dreaded tracklist. Yes, it's just copy-pasted and not how I normally do it, but give me a freaking break! 001. Boom Terrorism - Gabber House (Jailhouse Inferno Remix), This is just insane. Seriously insane. So many big records. Some so obscure, you don't hear them very often (even though they do deserve to be played more regularly). But yeah, this mix is my Hardcore 90s in a nutshell. This is me. It's like The Relic made the mix especially for me. And the funny thing about this mix is, my journey today took longer home than expected. Roughly 2 1/2 hours. So guess what I did? You are correct: I pressed play, and throughout my journey on the fucking shitty M25 (ring road around London, if you are not from the UK), I was raving my ass off. And the JBL sound system in my car made it sound even rougher and tougher. If you were next to me near the Dartford tunnel, apologies. But Hardcore cannot be played at a low volume. All the credit and love for this mix. This is my youth in a nutshell. This is EXACTLY what I listened to when I was younger. It's like the DJ read my mind, and thought 'I'll make a mix for TCD'. That's how it feels like. All jokes aside, this is a monster megamix. And it's going to blow your fucking mind, and speakers. And it's also downloadable. So what else could you wish for? Too many, and I mean it when I say it, too many records to choose from. At least 230 are my favourites, so pick one. I think this is a challenge NO ONE can do. How can you pick from so many records? The Relic, this goes on my 'all-time favourite Hardcore mega mixes', among mixes by Bass-D and KenLio86 (whoever that might be). This is super dope! • NSD vs MBK | Snakepit 2021 - Pit II

We started today with an early 90s UK Hardcore mix, but now we go forward in time, to the year of our Lord 2021. And it's a set that will blow your mind into smithereens. Make sure you are aware of the potential of permanent ear damage. Don't tell me I didn't warn you. But you've already guessed that this mix is going to be hard: looking at the image above, this set was recorded at Snakepit 2021, and none of these artists do take any prisoners. If they can demolish speakers and eardrums, that's what they shall do. So what's in store for you all? Well, an Uptempo Hardcore set. I'm not familiar with Uptempo that much. I only review this every so often, but not too often, so my knowledge is very limited, to say the least. Of course I know most of these names on the flyer, but music wise I'm still a noob. But maybe this set could be the one that persuades me more to listen to this kind of music more? It has already got a lot of plays on Soundcloud. Only uploaded 2 months ago, and already reaching 25k plays. That's impressive, but Uptempo is the sound that currently dominates the Hardcore scene. And obviously when I saw this being reposted a lot, I had to give this a go. Thankfully someone uploaded a tracklist (with a few unidentified songs), so I can share this with you. So what was played during NSD vs MBK's set at Snakepit? Well, these records: NSD - Ill Ne NSD - Outer Timer Detest & Tripped - Bag Of Dicks NSD - Class Parody eDUB & MBK - Bass Kicking NSD - Haha F#cker ID - ID NSD - Hai La Noi MBK & R3T3P - Heart Attack NSD - Rabbi Jacop Jr Core MBK - Hurt Locker NSD - Requiescat In Pace Angerzam & MBK - Cerro ID - ID ID - ID NSD - Yntroitum Deadly Guns x MBK x Angernoizer - Bass For The Streets NSD - Praevalebat Andy The Core & MBK - Crazy Things At Night Diss Reaction - Jiieehhaaa! (NSD Bootleg) Unicorn On Ketamine - SEFA NSD - Italian Interrupt Angernoizer - Bomb Da Drop (MBK Remix) NSD - Grynder MBK & Yunke - Veneno ID - ID ID - ID NSD - Infragment Groapa (Edit) MBK - Time To Glory NSD - Lost Society (Speedcore Bootleg) This set 'starts' off slow, but increases throughout. And I put the word 'starts' between brackets, because it does start off slow, but increases, but for those untrained ears it might already sound hard, rough, and fast. If you love everything below 150 BPMs, you are going to be fucked. This will wake you up, that's for sure. If you are still laying in bed, thinking 'I might need something to wake me up', just press play and listen to what NSD and MBK have to say. I'm sitting here, WFH, and my speakers are trembling hard on my desk. I am certainly awake. Won't be going to sleep any time soon. When you think it can't go any harder, NSD and MBK prove us wrong. Fucking hell, it goes bonkers after a few minutes. It builds up slowly, and I can imagine that anyone who witnessed their set at Snakepit must have had blisters on their feet from stomping their feet hard to the ground. I was sitting here and my neck is now hurting from moving roughly. Maybe too roughly. So I can imagine the ravers must have been absolutely knackered after this hour of madness. I'm not feeling all the songs. But most I do. And I get it. It's rough, unfiltered, and sometimes ridiculous. And I love it. A wicked set, nonetheless. Best (and hardest) record? 'Hurtlocker'. Blimey, that's a song that will be stuck in your head for days! The ending of this set is also something fucking silly. My God, the BPMs go through the roof. Insane ending, and a good one! • DanNorman 92 - 93 Hardcore Pirates Selection (2022)

It is Tuesday, time for something different. A trip down memory lane, for many ravers out there. If you were 'old' enough when the underground was taken over by Hardcore music back in 1992 and 1993, consider yourself lucky. I was way too young to experience it (10 years old and still into 2Unlimited and other pop groups), but if you were there from the beginning, you might feel blessed, and you should be. For those that witnessed the birth of something special, here's a mix for you that might raise the nostalgia factor for today. DanNorman made this mix, and uploaded it a few days ago onto Soundcloud, and obviously it got shared. Hence why I jumped immediately on this. I might have been too young to understand Hardcore back then, but I'm catching up on everything I've missed. And this is another mix I have added to my ongoing Hardcore history list. I do not know much about this DJ, but what I do know, is that this mix is sick. Sick as in good, not sickening. This mix is dedicated to the pirate radio stations from back in the 90s. Kids who are too young probably don't remember sitting in front of your multi media deck and record music onto tapes. And if that wasn't enough of a challenge: try to record songs WITHOUT any interruptions from the DJ or adverts. That was always crucial, and a challenge. Walk away from the cassette player, and you might have half an advert on the cassette. Glorious days, eh? Compared to the present day, the music quality was a tad 'less'. The famous crackling noise from vinyl, or the shit sounds you would get from tapes where the actual tape lost its strength. Or worst, when the tape got ruined, and you would have to rewind it with a pencil, and that bit of the tape was destroyed. You will be able to hear some of those noises throughout this mix. Time machine, here we come! But which records did DanNorman use for this mix? Well, these: Hedgehog Affair - Don't Just Stand There Dr S Gachet and Funky Junky - Logan's Run Hi-Fi Power - Chillout Rufige Kru - Terminator Nebula 2 - Peacemaker Sublove - She Moves Through Unknown Artist - Light Of The Underground EP Dica & DJ Big Vern - Don't Think About Me Dune - Too Much (Acid Aston Remix) Order 2 Move - Rizla Bass Higher Octave - Untitled Kaotic Chemistry - Space Cakes Nino - Revelation (We See The Light) LTJ Bukem - Logical Progression DJ Trace - Teach Me To Fly 2 Reefer - Don't Look Back DJ Jinx - Paradise Project Where's the whistle crew? Glowsticks? Horns? Where are you all? You might be digging out the whistles and horns, and go ape in your living room, or car, or wherever you are. Go back in time, roughly 29 to 30 years ago. And fucking hell, that's a long time ago, but it feels like it was only yesterday... This is 70 minutes of pure nostalgia. A very good selection of records. As mentioned before, I was too young when this all happened, but I do feel more in sync with the music from the early 90s. And DanNorman's mix contains some heavy hitters. Some I'm familiar with, and adore. He's done a great job, and even left the crackling noises in there. How's that for nostalgia? No need to grab your pencil and rewind the tape. This is the cloud. But at least you can feel for a split second like you are back in the 90s. And I freaking love it. Those 70 minutes do fly by. Only love for this mix. Proper oldskool vibes. Love it! Might even dig up my own whistle and horns and might make some noise. Who is going to stop me, besides the old Bill? No one, exactly! Best record? The first one. Disagree? Fight me in the comments! • Angerfist & Miss K8 - Thunderdome 2019 - Mainstage

I know it's Friday, but let's talk about Thursday. That's the day I go into the office. And once I'm in the office, I always finish the day with a gym session. The session always require good music, but sadly the TVs are always on some shitty program no one cares about (unless you are above 60 years of age), or some shitty radio station no one listens to. So I always bring my headset and listen to whatever is on YouTube, Soundcloud, Mixcloud, or any other music platform. And during a gym sesh, you cannot listen to some lame shit. The algorithm of YouTube gave me a set I've been pushing back for unknown reasons. But I had to give it a go. The end result? A session through which I've had a smile from ear to ear! As I've mentioned in other reviews before, Thunderdome is an institution. It does not need an introduction. So let's dive straight into who was behind the decks: the mighty Angerfist and Miss K8. They played on the main stage, and if you go to YouTube (or just check the video below), you can see how insane the lighting was throughout the set. Production levels were way up. I was shocked to see how ace everything looked! Top notch. And both Angerfist and Miss K8 had fun behind the decks. Well, I know Miss K8 had fun, can't really tell if Angerfist is having fun: his mask protrudes us seeing if he's happy or sad. I shall address the elephant in the room now: I had to stop watching the video and had to see if the set was available on Soundcloud. Seeing the video made me kind of sad: I know it's a reoccurring theme, but the amount of people standing still was insane! I would have loved to have been there, and I would have raved my ass off. I would never be able to 'stand still'. So many people were not raving, and that broke my heart. It's Thunderdome, for God's sake! Rave until your feet start bleeding! Don't stand fucking still! OK, rant over. Well maybe one tiny one. MCs are not needed. Really do not bring anything to the table. Please move MCs from the stage to the dancefloor, and let them have fun. But don't ruin a good ass set! OK. now ranting is over. Time for me to show you the tracklist. And here it is: Minus Militia - Omnia Of Kicks Angerfist - Send Me To Hell w/ Eazy-E - Real Muthapuckkin G's DJ Isaac - Bad Dreams (ID Remix) w/ Chosen Few - Name Of My DJ (ID Remix) Angerfist - Diabolic Dice Turbulence - Six Million Ways To Die w/ Tschabos - Gib Mir Die Bass (Noch Korrekter!) w/ Radium - Rockin Fire Dione - Time To Play ID - ID Angerfist & Miss K8 - Impact The Clown - Do You Want A Balloon??? (Angerfist Refix) Mad-E-Fact & Dr. Macabre - Tha Poltergeist Hustla Miss K8 & MC Nolz - Raiders Of Rampage Angerfist - Soldier Miss K8 - St8tment ID - ID Minus Militia - Soul Ripper The Clamps - In The Depths I:Gor - L.I.O.N. Eazy-E - Hittin' Switches (Angerfist Refix) DJ J.D.A. & Delta 9 - Real Hardcore En Anders Niks w/ Miss K8 - The Poison Angerfist & MC Nolz - Rally Of Retribution Miss K8 - Temper Tha Playah & Angerfist - The Heartless The Satan - Demolition ID - ID Menace II Society - Chronic Disorder (Miss K8 Sparta Mashup) w/ The Satan - Moshpit Angerfist - Right Through Your Head (Detest Remix) Miss K8 - Out Of The Frame (2019 Kick Edit) Angerfist & Radium - Just Like That Angerfist - Geto Tremble A bit of the old, and a bit of the new. Everything is in here, and it's nice they kept the Thunderdome theme alive. Even though the majority of records have this distinctive MoH sound, they still played a few classics. A few Thunderdome classics. And that made me happy. Happier than you can imagine. And it made the gym session a successful one! Again, the video of this set is truly astonishing, if you leave the audience out of it. Those who were there and raved the night away, I praise you. Those who stood still, meh. Why? OK, now let's talk about the music. The music is great. A nice mixture between classic Hardcore anthems and future Hardcore classics. During the set you can see them both having fun, and even when mixing goes a bit tits up, they still are able to smile. That's what happens when it's live. Mistakes happen, and that's OK. The intro is awesome, and throughout the set the BPMs only increase. And after a while it just become punishing: I would not be able to rave to this Uptempo stuff for longer than 10 minutes: my body would deteriorate ad hoc! But at least the interest level remained high. Angerfist and Miss K8 both delivered an excellent and interesting set, and if you do want a set to give you a bit of a boost, this might certainly be one you need to check out, if you haven't already. Best record? Well, two, to be fair. 'Do You Want A Balloon???' has always been one of my favourite records from the early Thunderdome albums, and hearing 'Tha Poltergeist Hustla' reminds me of how sick the bass is on 'Poltergeist' by Dr. Macabre. Let's enjoy the upcoming weekend, and if you are to hit the gym, let's do it properly, and play this on your headset. Or, if you feel lucky, play this on the TVs out loud, and let everyone around you enjoy the music you are listening to. • Complex Sessions 067: Burgaboy (2022)

Wednesday, Bassline day. Haven't heard a Bassline mix in a long time. Maybe even 2 years ago. And guess who did that mix? Yes, Burgaboy! The legendary Burgaboy. I was a massive Burgaboy fan back in the day, and even purchased his album. I was so happy whenever I heard his music. The wobbly sound always made me jiggle my fat ass a bit more. And now, in 2022, he's back with a brand new mix. This time it's by Complex UK, as a promo mix. The 67th instalment. And it's going to be a good one. Sit back and enjoy! Not familiar with Complex UK. But after reading Burgaboy's interview and hearing his mix, they've gained a follower. Their website seems interesting, and it's both music focussed and also pop culture in general. And even though I'm getting old, I still feel young at heart. Bassline has always been one of my most favourite styles out of the UK. Yes, UKG and Grime are ace, but Bassline does more to me. And Burgaboy was one of those names which I followed since I first heard a mix containing his record. I think it was his birthday bash he did many moons ago. Burgaboy's mix contains a bit of the old and a few new anthems. A decent mix containing dancefloor smashers. Are you ready for the tracklist? Burgaboy feat Lanca - An' We're Live Sean Dean - You Don't Know Burgaboy - Right Here 2019 DaBeatFreaks - Money Calling (Bailey P Mix) Burgaboy vs Rihanna - Rudeboi VIP Sammy Virji - Quarantine Done Burgaboy vs Faith Evans - Home Vamos - Be Afraid VIP Thorpey - What You Wanna Do Burgaboy - Doomsday Burgaboy - HAHAHAHA MPH - Control Burgaboy - Story Of My Life Oh, this brings back memories! Looking at how 'old' these records are, it makes me fear that time is flying by too damn quickly. What's happening? The older I get, the quicker time flies by. Before I start talking like an OAP, let's focus on the mix. It's a short one, but within 33 minutes you do get 13 excellent tunes, including Burgaboy's biggest tune, which has to be 'Rudeboi VIP'. But to be fair, as great as this song is, 'Quarantine Done' has to be the dopest song of this mix. There's a special mention of this record in the short interview Burgaboy did for Complex UK. Worth checking it out. I am loving the vibes. From the start, the 33 minutes fly by. A bit of the old, a bit of the new. And literally everything in-between. It's an ace mix. This mix brings back a shit ton of memories, and it pushes me back to the 'older' Bassline mixes. Time to get rid of the cobwebs and start listening to these mixtapes again! Bring back Bassline. And please, can we have more Burgaboy? • Virus & Dain-Ja - Live at HTID In The Sun 2013

For those reading my blog every so often, I know what you are thinking! 'Didn't you review a DJ Virus mix the other day?'. For those picky readers, you are absolutely right! It was only 2 days ago I wrote about one of DJ Virus' latest mixes, and now I'm about to present to you yet another mix. What's going on, right? Well, the previous mix was a mix focussed on Breakbeat Hardcore, and the one you are about to listen to, is Virus & Dain-Ja's set at the mighty HTID in the Sun! That event does not need an introduction, right? Now you probably understand why I am reviewing this. I cannot let a UK Hardcore set from 2013 slide by. A liveset with the whistle crew and an MC and the finest UK Hardcore. What else can I wish for? Hearing an HTID set with a tracklist makes me want to go even more to an HTID party. I've never been, and it feels like something I should not be sharing with you all, because it's embarrassing. I've owned a lot of merch over the years and even had a few CD packs, but never been. As a UK Hardcore lover I feel ashamed. Don't judge me. Anyway, let's talk about the set. Not sure who the MC is, if you do know, please leave a comment below. But the set was one with not only DJ Virus but also Dain-Ja. I do not know much about either artists, only know DJ Virus from his Breakbeat Hardcore and early rave sets on Soundcloud, but that's all. The question on everyone's lips is: is the set going to be ace? Well, only you can judge this. Just have a look at the tracklist and see if it makes you as happy as much as your truly... That takes me back. And can't believe these songs are nearly 10 years old, or are even 10 years old already! Time does fly by, doesn't it? This tracklist makes me happy. But Dain-Ja and Virus have done a great job. The hour long mix flies by. And the tracklist shows that you are in for a treat, if you haven't checked this set yet. It's got the big tunes from around 2013, and seeing those again makes me happier by the second. The tracks are all solid. And it's got 'Lights Down Low' in it. Can't go wrong with that song, right? Name another big vocal dancefloor smasher from around 2013. One that was sung by thousands of ravers all over the world... I've got no negative feedback. Loving this mix a lot. And it's also a free download. Go and give this mix the credit it deserves! • King For 3 Days (2022)

How funny is it, to find a mix with 'KING' in its title? Only a handful of days ago did I find out that there's a Kings day event in London, to celebrate King Willem Alexander's birthday. I am not joking though, this is serious. His birthday celebrations are on the 30th of April 2022, and my wife already purchased a few orange t-shirts, for me to blend in among all the other Dutch people. It is weird and quite the coincidence, am I right? Don't know really why DJ Virus is a king for 3 days? Is that a thing? Is that something sexual? If anyone knows the answer, please leave a comment below. But I've already seen another mix by DJ Virus called 'King For 2 Days', so there's a theme going on here. Still not sure why he's a King though? But he's a master in making excellent mixes, that's for sure. Since I first listened to a mix by DJ Virus, I've been truly gobsmacked. The quality of his mixes are really amazing, and this '3 day'- King mix is no exception. Or could it be that he's playing at Kings day? I am still baffled. Someone know the answer to this, yes? Anyway, let's talk about the mix. It's an hour and 20 minutes long, and it contains the finest Breakbeat and Happy Hardcore tunes. And this mix came in quite handy: I was cutting the grass earlier this morning, and decided to listen to DJ Virus' mix. The cutting of the grass became an easy chore. It was done before I even knew it. Breakbeat Hardcore gave me the right amount of energy to get me through this otherwise awful chore. Yes, don't moan; I know it's quite nippy and I had a few days to do the gardening, but I was busy. Today was the only day of the week I could do it. But now, let's get back to the mix, and show you the tracks DJ Virus used. Rassan - Don't Hesitate Jesse Bru - Life's Alright Philo - Chocolat Heo - Café Del Mar (Borai & Denham Audio Rave Booty Mix) MKII - Flashback Total Science - Universe 92 Martin Badder - Control (Origin8a & Propa Remix) Posthuman - RMX (VIP) Metro - Zoned Stones Taro - Auto Translation (Coco Bryce Remix) LMajor - Tear My Heart Justice - Wait For Me Metro - Watch Dis Rassan - Bury The Hatchet Maruwa - 31 Seconds T-Cuts - Cut To The Chase DJH - Phantom LMajor - Energy Jai Dee - Coming Up Again JT Company - Don't Deal With Us (Dusky Extended Mix) Crashead - Fanatikal Case 82 - Elevate Your Love Aston & Pirate Jams - Knows The Score Vibes & Hattrixx - Wherever You Are DJH - Break Em Jedi - Dance The Night Away Rebel Bass - Restart The Party Pianoman feat Carla Donohue - So Addicted (Avro Remix) Now that happened. I think I've said it on a previous Breakbeat review, I am not a connoisseur and most names are not known to me, but the music does speak to me. So my view of this tracklist is 'don't know half of these names', but you might have a different opinion. But what I do know, is that the mix is very tight. Very fucking tight. It starts with a big anthem, and it continues throughout the 80 minutes. DJ Virus has given us yet another epic mix. I've got no negative feedback, only love and appreciation for this mix. It is one mix that could get us through the weekend with a huge smile on our face. And it's one that should give DJ Virus more appreciation. He's released some amazing banging mixes, and this is yet another one to add to his impressive mix-list. So many great dancefloor smashers. And so many songs in here which will remain in your head for the rest of the day. One of them, which is my favourite, is 'Control'. What a big piano focussed song, and the vocals are also epic. What a wonderful mix to end our week with. Enjoy the last few hours of this week, before the misery of next week is about to happen. Let DJ Virus take you on a journey, a pleasant journey. Oh, this is also a free download. Fucking 'ave it! Yes! • Si Thompson - Hardcore Breaks Mix (18-11-2021)

Earlier this morning I was listening to Darkcore/Millennium Hardcore/Industrial Hardcore, but quickly after the review I had to wind down a tad. I was full on Hardcore, And I wanted to listen to something completely different. And that's when I remembered that I had a few favourited on Soundcloud, a few I still had to listen to, and the one I picked was Si Thompson's mix from 2021, focussed on the Hardcore Breaks of life. Breakbeat Hardcore is always great to listen to, once you get the chance. And today's the day I'm going to emerge myself into Breakbeat. Now you might be thinking: TCD, what is Breakbeat? Well, I'm not here to give you the full backstory, for those people who are interested, you can Google the living daylight out of it, and find the meaning behind Breakbeat and more. I'm here to discuss Si Thompson's mix. It's not the only Breakbeat focussed mix on his Soundcloud channel: if you are seeking for more, go and have a browse. Not much is known about this mix. Could have literally been a recording for a radio show, or just for fun? Whatever the reason behind this set is, it's not really relevant. What is relevant are the tunes Si has picked for this mix. And there are some glorious ones in here. Feast your eyes on this tracklist and tell me if it does something to you... N-Trance - Set You Free (Original Radio Edit) Acen - Close Your Eyes (Optikonfusion!) (Remix 1) Acen - Trip II The Moon (Part 1) Spectral - Close Your Eyes Syko & Mak - Murda EP (A2) The Tripper - Vol 1 (Side A) DMS - Exterminate (Day Of The Hardcore) Piano Man - Revelations (Vibes & Hattrixx Remix) Connection - A Different Story Jungle Buddha - Drug Me Drum & Bass - Lowdown & Funky Jungle Buddha - Psalm IV Jumping Jack Frost - Osmosis Shut Up And Dance feat Peter Bouncer - Raving I'm Raving I'm not a Breakbeat connoisseur, and most of the names are unfamiliar to me, but what I can say is that the music should speak for itself. And in this mix it certainly does. Really feeling the vibes, really feeling the Breakbeats coming at me through my monitors. Si Thompson's mix is a good one. Short and sweet. Only 14 records in an hour long mix, which is sufficient. The tunes are solid, and keeps you going. The hour literally flies by without you knowing, and the records are just exactly as you wanted them to be: hard and rough. I have to say that N-Trance's record wouldn't be my first record. Yes, it's a classic anthem, but due to radio overkill I cannot listen to it yet. It has lost its power, but that's just a personal decision. Same with 'Raving I'm Raving', but that seems to be a tad cheesy. I think these are more liked on the dancefloor. A place I've not been in a while, so maybe I should go out and rave, rave more? A nice and welcoming mix. If you are liking this, check out Si's Soundcloud channel for more mixes similar to this one! And it's got 'Vol 1 Side A' by The Tripper in it. Always a good choice! • BACK TO THE CORE Vol. 3 (2022)

Tuesday morning, and I'm blasting Hardcore through my speakers. My neighbours must be so pleased to have me living next to them. But if anyone is complaining, I would say 'fuck 'em'. Yeah, I might be a tad selfish, but come on: you cannot play Hardcore at the lowest volume level, right? You cannot just sit there, with your speakers at volume 3, and be happy? Hardcore was made to be played at max level. Every bit of the house should be trembling. And if you feel the same, then you are in luck: a new mix by Negative-A today, which contains records you cannot play at a lower volume level. You can, but is it ethical? So Negative-A has given us a brand spanking new mix, with a lot of darker sounding Hardcore tunes. The third instalment to his 'BACK TO THE CORE' mix series. I've not seen the previous two mixes, but surely if I go onto Negative-A's Soundcloud channel, I will find them. But for now, let's focus on the current and freshest mix. Some might call it Millennium Hardcore, some call it Darkcore, or even Industrial Hardcore. I call it Hardcore The mix does contain a lot of big artists. And a few tracks I've not heard in a very long time. I did like the harder sound, but wasn't fully emerged into it, when these tunes were released. I skimmed the surface of the darker sounds, and am familiar with a few tunes, but not a lot. So it's nice to hear these records coming through my speakers on this cold yet great looking Tuesday morning. Are you going to be happy after reading this tracklist? You should be. Big names, truly big names in it! The DJ Producer - A Journey Of Force (The Realm Remix by Manu Le Malin) Promo - Patterns In The Chaos DJ Outblast - Communication (Catscan Remix) Meagashira - The Dope Hits Da Mind Negative A & Darkcontroller - Drugz 4 Fun Promo - System Feedback The Outside Agency - The New Master VIP Slavefriese - Stay Down With The Hardcore Negative A - White Fluids Of DNA Stormtrooper - No One Gets Me Alive Tieum - TWM Catscan - Finishing Profiles D-Passion - Put Things Right Battlefield 0180 - My Father Lucifer Promo & Digital Boy - Severe Damage (Placid K Remix) E-Noid - Aggressive Behaviour Tymon vs Negative A - Hell Now Catscan - Capture In Distress Tommyknocker - Sometimes Promo - Different Breed Of Men Enzyme X - Kapotnaaien Negative A & Darkcontroller - Hard Vitality Shadowlands Terrorists - Bang Your Head The Outside Agency - Screaming Bootleg Negative A - Audio Hallucination So that happened. A really dark and edgy mix, filled with excellent tunes. Records that will make your speakers go absolutely bonkers. Trust me: I was driving through Enfield yesterday, and the car speakers were going mad! And so were the people looking at me driving with the music at max volume. Is it healthy? Who cares? As the young kids would say 'YOLO'. So fuck it. You can listen to this mix, but trust me when I say that you will feel an urge to start raving ad hoc. One of the tracks in this mix was actually one I've not heard before, but after hearing it once, I has stayed in my head, rent free. It's obviously Stormtrooper's song 'No One Gets Me Alive'. The lyrics are catchy as fuck. And won't leave my brain for a while. I'm really feeling this mix. Whatever style you might call it, it's glorious. And it gives me enough energy and determination to keep on going. It's time for the rest of the neighbourhood to wake up and listen to the fantastic mix by Negative A. And you should do the same, wherever you live. Turn up the volume, and get everyone going!
