- Really Fast Trance - Mixed By Cyrax (2020)
It's Friday everyone, and today I was off. I was going bonkers outside! No, I wasn't one of those nutjobs who ignores the Government's lockdown: I was cutting the grass. How exciting this might sound, it was fulfilling. I was a happy Dutchman after doing this, but during this arduous and tedious project, I was listening to Cyrax's latest mix. So I hit two birds with one stone: I was getting a workout in the garden, and I was listening to awesome Freeform music. Well, we've got to make the best out of it, this COVID-19 shite. Truth be told, I am a huge fan of Cyrax. It's been a couple of years since I last saw him (I think it was in Bournemouth), but I've been following him for years. Not only him, but also his label 'Energy Field'. I just love his passion for Freeform. And his latest mix might have Trance in the title, but it's a bit misleading. It's Freeform. Yes, I know, it's a form of Trance, but still. I do get it though: more people should invest their precious time, and explore Freeform. And with this hour and a half long mix, he might be able to grab people's attention? The mix is jam packed with excellent anthems, from a wide variety of artists. You should definately not only check this mix out, but also check out the tracklist, as shown below: 01. Darren Styles - Universe 02. Transcend - Neural 03. Andy Dee - Solas An Lae 04. JD-KiD presents Jurgen Hill - A.T.B. 05. Voycey & Douglas - Surface Of The Sun 06. Finnbarr - Havin' It Larger 07. Andy Vilo - Azure (Andy Dee Remix) 08. Transcend - Touching The Infinite 09. Jamie Ritmen - 303 Freestyle 10. Andy Dee - Solas Na Gealai (Moonlight) 11. Styles & Breeze - Love Garden 12. Transcend - Exploration 13. ID - Reborn (Andy Dee Bootleg) 14. JD-KiD & Arun - Last Horizon 15. Transcend - The Simulation 16. Cube::Hard & Douglas - Codex (Darwin Remix) 17. A.B - Awaken 18. Ferry Corsten presents Gouryella - Surga (JD-KiD Remix) 19. Douglas - Send Me 20. Darren Hotchkiss - All Clears Over 21. JD-KiD & DJ Corr - Carinae 22. Finnbarr - Hidden In The Light (A.B & Cyrax Remix) I don't mind this tracklist at all. Pure Freeform filth. A bit old and a bit new. According to Cyrax this is super trancey, and he's not lying! It is indeed very trancey. Very much so. I do feel like I'm in another universe. Thanks Cyrax for giving me that feeling. I felt for a second like I was on the dancefloor with my hands way up in the air, and with my eyes closed. Heaven on Earth. I'm sitting here, in my living room, enjoying the mix. I am really pleased with this. Cyrax's mixes are always very exciting, and always lighten the mood. Cyrax, I love you. Don't know if he actually reads my reviews, but if he does, I just said I love you. It's true though. And now with the lockdown we will hopefully see more mixes like this one. It does contain a whole lot of excellent tunes. And the best one? Transcend's anthem of course, 'The Simulation'. What a beast of a track. The mix itself is good, small errors here and there, but that's not bad. The only thing that I have noticed is that the sound is a bit off from time to time. Kind of freaks my mind out: it feels like I'm on a swing, going backwards and forwards rapidly. All in all a very good mix by Cyrax. This man is a legend. A pure legend. And this should give all those young and inspiring deejays the opportunity to make mixes. We need Freeform to rise! - Music Productions Showcase Mixed By DJ Brady (2020)
It might seem to be boring to stay at home, but it certainly isn't boring whatsoever. People are becoming more lively on social media, and also on Soundcloud and Mixcloud you do find a lot more mixes than before. It seems that everyone has got the time now to compose mixes. The mix I am about to review was uploaded before the total meltdown.. erm, I mean lockdown, but I'm guessing we'll be seeing more mixes by Brady in the near future, like he's done before. This time, the mix is special. It's a music production showcase mix, filled with tracks by the man himself. I knew him mainly for making mixes that contained records by others, but Brady has been a busy bee, and his mix is jam packed with a lot of his stuff. So basically most of these anthems are new to me. I think , and I'm not exaggerating, I cannot recall hearing any of these before. Maybe I should have paid more attention, but hey ho, at least I hear them now. And he was ever so kind to tag me on Facebook, but I was one of the first to hear this mix when it was uploaded, way before he tagged me. But now it's time for me to show you all the tracklist. If you weren't expecting it (and that is kind of stupid, seeing as I already told you) that this mix is packed with his own stuff, you will be in for a shock. But here goes, the tracklist; 01. Pulse & Brady - Galaxy Rush (2010 Mix) 02. Riko vs Brady - Who Got The Power 03. Alex Bassjunkie & Brady - Exhale 04. Riko & Brady - Put Your Hands Together 05. Voodoo & Serano - This Is Acid (Riko & Brady Mix) 06. JustColey & Brady feat D-Core - Here We Go 07. Riko vs Brady - Here To Invade 08. Boombox Cartel & QUIX - Supernatural (Riko & Brady's Bootleg Mix) 09. Steve Hill & Technikal feat DJ Y.O.Z. & Carlotta Chadwick - Bringing It On (Riko & Brady's Powerstomp Bootleg Mix) 10. Riko vs Brady - Bounce 11. Code Black - Predator (Riko & Brady's Bootleg Mix) 12. Alex Bassjunkie & Brady - Piano Track 13. ATB - 9PM (Till I Come) (Frontliner Remix) (Riko & Brady Mix) 14. Riko & Brady - Blaze Da Fuk Up 15. Riko & Brady - Take Control 16. Riko vs Brady - Pump It Up 17. Riko & Brady - Die Of Pain 18. Riko vs Brady - Bring The Beat 19. Riko & Brady - Take Your Soul 20. Pulse & Brady feat D-Core - Galaxy Rush (Remix) 21. Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone (Dark Rehab Bootleg) (Brady Mix) This is a quick fire mix by Brady himself. And as you can see, it's him with a few fellow producers in this mix. Most of them were made alongside Powerstomp fanatic Riko. I knew that he had some kind of influence, seeing as the image used for this mix looked a bit similar to Riko's album covers. But it's all about the music, so let's delve straight into the music. I really loved the pace of this mix. And the vibes each records put out. I felt each records, and loved the fact that Brady has a thing for Powerstomp sounding records. This brings me to my next topic: best record. That's a no brainer, truth be told. 'Pur Your Hands Together'. What a slammer! Couldn't stop dancing from the first time I heard this anthem. Only love and respect for Brady's own production mix. Certain cross sections sound maybe a tad rushed, but he can mix 100 times better than me. So nothing really to be worried about. The good thing about this mix is also the fact that it's for free! You can download the fuck out of it, and share it with your mates! As much as you like! And it's got my seal of approval! Not that it means much, but hey ho, so what? - DJ Radium - Early Hardcore #1 ('91'92) - The Full Moon Sessions (2017)
Another day inside, another day in paradise. It's time for us all to go back in time, to a decade where we were still allowed to walk outside and rave: the 90s. Specifically, the early 90s. 1991 and 1992. And today's mix is made by a legend within the Hardcore scene: DJ Radium. This mix was made about 2 1/2 years ago, and it got praised by the listeners on Soundcloud. I found this by accident, so let's delve straight into this early 90s rave mix. This mix is about an hour long, and has got the most underrated records in Hardcore history in them. Yes, you hear some of them over and over, but the majority are underrated classics. They should have a cult following. This sound is so unique and fresh, even in 2020 it still sounds so cool, and not even outdated. This is what gave us Hardcore in 2020. Obviously not every record selected by Radium is a genuine masterpiece, but the majority are. The tracklist is missing a few records. If you are a die-hard early Hardcore fanatic, would you please be so kind to let us know which records they are, so we can fill in the empty gabs? 01. Crowd Control - Tranzformer (Frankfurt Mix) 02. Friends Of Alex - What Is...? Fick Dich 03. Private Productions - Looped 04. DJ Hooligan - Harder 'n Deeper 05. Crowd Control - Robots 06. MDMA - E-Shopping 07. ID - ID 08. Sperminator - No Woman Allowed (Men's Room Mix) 09. Desperation - Our Reservation 10. Test - Overdub (New Concept) 11. Edge Of Motion - Set Up 707 12. ID - ID 13. Euromasters - Amsterdam.....Waar Lech Dat Dan??? (Maastunnel Mix) 14. Mescalinum United - We Have Arrived 15. Sourcer Code - I'm Not A Number! 16. Ace The Space - Nine Is A Classic (Classic Strength Remix) 17. Rotterdamnation - We' Who Are Opressed 18. King Dale - Utter (Hardcore Powermix) 19. Alien Factory - Big Brother (Heavy Mix) 20. DX13 - Decimate Intensity 21. ID - ID 22. Disintegrator - Disintegrated 23. Vicious Delicious - Hocus Pocus (The Gabberianic Verses) 24. German Division - Concerto Grosso 25. Frantic Explosion - Boom! Bang! 26. Euromasters - Alles Naar De Klote (Rotterdam Mix) Look, when I say Early Hardcore, I mean this kind of music! Wow, Radium's mix is literally filled with Early Hardcore stuff. The roughest stuff out there. These anthems are nearly or are 30 years old. Just think about that. Think hard and deep about that. 30 years of Hardcore. I can't believe that it's been nearly 30 years ago since I was introduced into the wonderful world we know as Hardcore. Thanks to Radium's mix I am back in my bedroom, as a teenager, playing Hardcore on a multi deck music tower. Or whatever they used to be called. And everything on tapes. I wasn't that quick on jumping on the next hype that was called Compact Discs. Cassettes all the way. I can only give this legend credit for this excellent mix. It contains the roughest and toughest Early Hardcore anthems, and they are mixed together beautifully. No word of a lie, but I'm feeling the early vibes coming through the speakers. Fuck COVID-19. I will stay indoors and listen to Early Hardcore. Hell yeah. Oh yeah, you can download this mix for free, so that's another bonus! - Reverze Flashback 2020 - Mark With A K, Dark-E & Pat B
The whole world is in lockdown. We are forced to stay indoors, whilst the virus hopefully dies down quickly, and never comes back. The only thing we can do is scour the internet for music. And pornography. Well, truth be told, what if you live on your own? You need to maintain your strength. Anyway, or it's porn or it's music. I'd rather choose music. That keeps me going 24/7. And the set I'm about to present to you is a big one. A set by Pat B, Mark With A K, and Dark-E. Also includes MC Chucky, but his interaction is limited. I am sorry, didn't mean to cause any harm, but MCs are not required. Especially when you are doing a flashback set, full of awesome records. I am a fan of music, not chatting. And the set is filled with awesome classics. Seriously impressive stuff by Pat B, Mark With A K, and Dark-E. This 45 minute long set is jam packed with early Jumpstyle/Hardstyle anthems. I can talk for hours about each and every records selected by the three legends, but instead of that, let's just show you the tracklist. That will make your day, trust me. 01. Davoodi - Move Ya Ass 02. DJ Frank - Fuckin' Serious 03. Robert Armani - Hit Hard 04. Bam Bam - Bam's Workout 05. Major Lazer - Pon Di Floor (Bestien Bootleg) 06. Mark With A K - Oasis 07. Menace 2 Society - Chronic Disorder 59. ID - Forever Young 60. Dream Your Dream - Mayday Dream (Hardcore Edit) 60+ records in 45 minutes. No time to relax, no time to gasp for air. Mark With A K, Dark-E and Pat B are making sure that you won't stop dancing. The MC sadly does not add a single thing to this atmospheric set. Someone was complaining about the crowd going 'eeeh, ooooh', but I did like that. The crowd's interaction with the DJs is good. Not sure if this set is pre recorded: it's just too damn perfect. Not one tiny error can be found. Unless you have spotted one, and in that case, please let us know. But still, it's 45 minutes of epic anthems. There are too many great anthems in here. You all know I love the early Jumpstyle sound, and all three DJs have done their best to cram in as much as they could. I can narrow it down to a few records: 'Davoodi's 'Move Ya Ass'. 'Ixxel - Drop That Beat', and 'Teka B's Hit The Dancefloor'. I'll choose the last one as my favourite: the transition from 'Happy Together' into this record is flawless and literally grabs your attention. You were not prepared for this change whatsoever. No indication was provided that you would expect this to happen. Is it the best set ever? It's good, but it still can't top 2018's edition. Pat B and Ruthless dominated this event, and the set is still played over and over by yours truly. But don't let this bother you. Bring back the Jumpstyle and turn up the speakers. Fuck this social distancing and rave indoors! Woop woop, let's fucking go! - Drokz Cure For The Virus Mix (2020)
Opa Drokz is back with a brand spanking new mix, which he made for those that suffer from the bloody awful Covid-19 virus. Which is the whole darn world. And as we are all requested to stay indoors, the only thing we can do is to browse the world wide web, and find out that the majority on it, is actually rubbish. With a few exceptions though, like DJ Drokz's latest mix. And as you have guessed it, it is as hard as you can imagine it to be. Drokz does not do half measured mixes, he comes in your house, and blows your speakers the fuck up. No pussy stuff, only hard Hardcore. The mix contains only Drokz anthems, and I dig them all. Even the quirky stuff. But it's just Drokz, you know? He's just hard as nails, hard as fuck. I can never imagine hearing a boring or soft mix by this mighty legend. Drokz is just the supreme leader of the Terror. Not only the voice of our Hardcore generation, but the leader of everything hard. And a softie on the inside too, if you've seen the interviews, you will know what I'm talking about. If you want to raise your middle finger to COVID-19, do it in style. FUCK YOU COVID-19. Let's rave the disease out of us, and kill the virus with beats, basses, and melodies. 01. Drokz - Intro 02. Drokz - This Is Dedication 03. Drokz - This Track Is Slamming 04. Drokz - Stealin Yo Shit Part 005 05. Drokz - Demonstrate 06. Proactive HC - Definition Of Hard 07. Drokz - Just A Rebel 08. Drokz - Karma 09. Drokz - Phonking Like A OG 10. Drokz - Oh This Is So Hard VIP 11. Drokz - Wild For The Night 12. Drokz - Stamppot 13. Drokz - Laten We Dronken Worden 14. Drokz - Terrordrill 15. Drokz - The Vietnam War 16. Killer Kemal - Volg Je Moeder (Drokz Bootleg) 17. Drokz - Eyes Are Closed 18. Creatures Of The Occult - Fear VIP 19. Creatures Of The Occult - I'm Feeling Haunted 20. Drokz - Je Bent Toch Niet Doof 21. Drokz, Akira & I.E. Vatos Locos - La Familia De Terror That's a lot of Drokz. And if you are thinking ''this isn't normal anymore, I can't handle it''. Go fuck yourself. You ain't a terror head. You are a mellow head. Go somewhere else. NOW! Anyway, if you looked at the tracklist and thought I lied about it being a full on Drokz mix, you need a slap. Everyone knows Proactive HC and the Creatures Of The Occult are groups that contain Drokz, the legend he is. And even though I've not come across a Proactive HC track before, this unreleased anthem really pressed all my buttons. Wouldn't categorise this as Terror though, but more like a harder Gabber anthem. I do love the build up of this mix. It's only 40 minutes long, but I really appreciate what Drokz has done. It for all those sitting at home, bored stiff, waiting for the end of this apocalyptic nonsense. And during this, we need some good music. Hence this mix. And it's yet another awesome Drokz mix. Enough said, lets just enjoy the music. And raise our middle finger to COVID-19. Be proud, fellow terrorheads! - Frantic Freak - Golden Era 2 (Early Hardcore Mix) (2016)
It's Sunday morning, and we need something to wake us the fuck up. Early Hardcore would be a good suggestion, I presume? So voila, a mix you would really want to hear. Early Hardcore, the finest records from the 90s. Mixed by Frantic Freak, you have heard about him, right? If you haven't, maybe it's time for you now to start Googling him, and find out who he is. But for now, let's focus on his mix he made back in 2016, for the 10th edition of Decade. The line-up was good: Ruffneck, Bass-D, The Destroyer, Leviathan, Buzz Fuzz, Cixx vs Vinyl Junk, Arjuna, Sequence, Lenz, Skorp, Raymion, Iniga, and MC I See. Of course you cannot visit this event, unless you have harnessed the power of time travel, which I highly doubt. The only thing I would urge you to do, is to shut up, turn the volume up, and press play on this really awesome Early Hardcore mix. The good thing about this mix, is that Frantic Freak knows how to please the fans, and throws in the most well known anthems, and also a handful of underground, obscure anthems. So the result is a very good and entertaining mix. Here's the tracklist for you Early Hardcore craving people! 01. Diss Reaction - Jiieehaaaa 02. DJ Hixxy & Lady Trixxy - One Spliff 03. Party Animals - Used & Abused 04. Bruyaa & Ozonic - Welcome To Deathrow 05. Chosen Few - Name Of The DJ 06. DJ Buzz Fuzz - Destroyer 07. DJ Jappo & Lancinhouse - EXLXAXL 08. DJ Dave - Listen... 17. Manu Le Malin - Watch 'em All Drop 18. Stickhead & Don Demon - Demonhead A wicked tracklist. I told you that it was going to be a good mix, eh? And also that I already pointed out that Frantic Freak used both well known AND obscure anthems to compose this mix. Haven't heard 3 songs for at least a decade, even longer! The hour has flown by. Frantic's selection just takes me straight back to my childhood. Epic anthems, and they've stood the test of time. And I'm not being ridicilous: Early Hardcore events are hot! And people are craving these anthems more than anything else in life! Hardcore is life, remember that. I do love them all, these anthems. Even those that have been played over and over again. But which is my favourite? Well, you might not have expected it, but 'Welcome To Deathrow'. Heard it the first time on Thunderdome 96, and I fell in love. A wicked and dark anthem. Good choice, mr Frantic. A wonderful mix. This has made my day. Sunday? Check. Early Hardcore? Check. Speakers on max? Not yet..... but now... check. - Summer Gathering 2020 Bonus Mix - Mixed By Technikore x JTS
As the whole world is coming to a stand still due to the Covid-19 virus, we are all forced to stay indoors, and collect as much toilet paper, more than we even use in 1500 years. I normally wouldn't mind staying in, but what also happened is the fact that they've cancelled a lot of events, just as a precaution. Which is obviously bad, but understandable. So we are all going to sit indoors, and listen to whatever we can find on Sound/Mixcloud. And today I found a big mix. When I saw the title of this mix and it contained 'Summer Gathering 2020' and the page mentioned that it had already happened, I looked around bewildered. Summer, already happened? Well, in Australia it has. And on the 25th of January they had this wicked event. According to OneSeventy's page, this mix was given away for free as a bonus mix CD, and now they've decided to upload it, for the whole world to hear it. And as you would expect, it is mixed by OneSeventy's finest DJ duo, Technikore and JTS. Is it packed with UK Hardcore anthems? Well, yes, of course it packed. A lot of music made by Technikore and JTS, and also seriously insane dancefloor destroying anthems. It is time for you to see the tracklist: 01. Tweekacore x Technikore - Find The Spark 02. Stormerz - Be The One (Macks Wolf Remix) 03. Jakka B feat Addie Nicole - Chasing The Sun 04. Darren Styles, Gammer & Dougal - Party Don't Stop (Technikore Remix) 05. Technikore - All Night 06. Hixxy - Sacrifice (Ben Defekt & Olly P Remix) This nearly hour long mix is just what you need to hear after you've opened your eyes and embraced the sunlight. And the Covid-19 too. Isolation can be a bitch, and to get everyone through it, let's just embrace what Technikore and JTS have done: a free mix! An hour long of EDMCore, also known as UK Hardcore. And I'm pleased to say that I really liked it. I think I need to dig deep to find a shit mix by both Technikore and JTS. But I cannot remember the last time I've given any of their mixes a bad score. They have always been on top, and never disappointed any of us UK Hardcore fanatics. And with their latest mix they showcase again why they are the best of the best, the finest UK Hardcore DJs/producers, in Australia. So many big anthems, but ' All Night' just stuck with me the longest. But there are a lot of records which were close to become my number 1. I do love the fact that vocalists are still used, and they made each and every track they were on much better. I just love vocals so much. Especially female vocals, they just give it a deeper meaning, a deeper feeling. A fantastic mix. Grab it while you can. Enjoy it. And if you are in Australia, enjoy the Summer. If you are anywhere else, enjoy the rain.... pffff DJs: Technikore & JTS Genre/Style: UK Hardcore, EDMCore, Happy Hardcore Mix Info: Summer Gathering 2020 Bonus Mix Length Mix: 00:56:30 Tracks: 23 (twenty-three) Download/Listen (via Soundcloud): LISTEN HERE File Size: unknown File Type: unknown Bitspeed: unknown More Information: OneSeventy - Soundcloud Page
- Enzyme & Malice (aka Portal) Pure Hardcore Breaks Vol.1 Mix 2006
Let me be perfectly clear, I do love literally everything dance related. My broad interest spectrum is immense. And when you do come across a set which includes music you haven't heard in a while, it might makes you kind of exciting. Today is the day I rediscovered Hardcore Breaks. Does anyone remember Hardcore Breaks? I remember it being huge, and then it just disappeared? Does anyone know the story behind the rise and 'fall' of Hardcore Breaks? I remember Slipmatt and Bunter pushing it forward, but then nothing. Weird. How come I do not hear more of this? Anyway, the mix I came across on Soundcloud was all by accident. I was actually searching for Enzyme X, the Industrial Hardcore group, and I found this mix instead. Obvious the connection between the two is the name of the DJ in this mix: Enzyme. And of course Malice. Who also has a DJ that shares the same name: Malice. And this DJ makes Rawstyle. So all these names might come flying towards you, but truth be told, I know nothing about these two DJs. What I do know is that they made this Hardcore Breaks mix back in 2006. I think that we should show you the tracklist. Again, it does ring a bell, all this Hardcore Breaks, but besides that I know nothing much. I need to be educated again. More Hardcore Breaks for me. 01. Enzyme & Malice - Dance The Night Away 02. Nervous & Anxious - Dope Rider 03. Amnexiac - Dawn Of Rockets 04. Luna-C - Piano Progression (Malice Remix) 05. Running Man - Taking Me Higher 06. Junnki Munki - Extreme 07. Enzyme & Malice - Colonies 08. Austin - Crazy Club 09. Nervous & Anxious - Love Is In The Air 10. Malice - On & On 11. Portal - Deeper Underground 12. Xperience - Gonna Be Alright 13. Enzyme & Malice - In The Groove 14. Darkus - Jah Know 15. Enzyme - Bass Driver Does anyone know if these guys still 'exist'? I don't mean that they should be dead, but what I mean is, do they still make music? On Discogs the information goes a bit dead, and even their own website looks soooo old. Don't know when that was last updated. I do get early Myspace vibes though, and that's cool. Anyway, the mix. Yes, Hardcore Breaks. That's cool music. Well, what else is there to say? I do love this sound, and can appreciate what Enzyme and Malice have brought to the table. The mix is very, very tight, and I do love to hear their own approach to this sadly underrated sound. I've got only love for this mix. No negative feedback. I think this is one of those mixes you just need to check out. Download this also for free. - Gammer - I'm Old Now... WTF Happened? (2015)
I can't believe it! This album is nearly 5 years old! That's insane, it feels like I only purchased a year ago. But not 5 years ago. Bloody hell, time has flown by. But anyway, let's talk about this masterpiece, made by Gam Gam, back in 2015. I was a huge fan of Gammer when he was dominating the UK Hardcore scene. He's been on top of the charts since he came out into the scene, and gave us everything he had. And whatever he had, was pure gold. He was a tremendous influence to many, and has had multiple awards to back his success up. Obviously we all know that he moved into the EDM scene and has become this superstar DJ, playing at the dopest events, but I'm still feeling a bit sad. He made UK Hardcore extremely big. His back catalogue is impressive, and so was his quick mixing skills. But seeing as we live in a world where we should embrace people's happiness, I am happy for him to have made it. He can still look back at a wicked time in the UK Hardcore scene, and I've got the album that shows us all why he was one of the greatest. And probably stepped out of the scene just in time. Again, I've got no hate towards the man. Some literally hated him for moving forward, but I didn't. Honestly, I am happy for him. But I cannot get my head around the EDM sound. I'm still stuck in the golden years of UK Hardcore, and Gammer is still my super hero. Anyone who spreads hate, should know the word PLUR. The meaning behind it is impressive, so live by it. Anyway, Gammer was approached by Billy Bunter, and Billy had an idea: make a compilation. Not something new, if truth be told, but the compilation was going to focus on him solely. It's was going to be a full on Gammer CD, mixed by Gammer, and with Gammer's face on the cover. And it also included the most awesome title for a CD ever 'I'm Old Now, WTF Happened?'. That's Gammer for you. Quirky, yet honest. The album contains two discs. The first is Gammer's solo stuff (kinda), and the second contains collaborations, but most of them were with his best buddy Dougal. So what do you get? Two discs, 72 records, mixed in a way only Gammer can do it. And of those 72 records, I'm guessing 99% of them are dancefloor classics. So, the tracklist. Here it is: CD 1 - Solo Stuff (Kinda) 01. Gammer feat Cat Knight - A New Feeling 02. Gammer - Let It Go 03. Gammer - Back 2 Front 04. Eclipse - Things You Do (Gammer Remix) 05. Breeze & Styles - The Beat Kicks (Gammer Remix) 06. Darren Styles & Gammer - Tom Riddle 40. Gammer & Whizzkid - Killed The Rave 41. Gammer & Michael Scout - Bye Bye I have to disappoint you, if you are reading this an hope that this album is available anywhere. I've checked Music Monday's website, and cannot find it anymore. It was sold out. Only 500 copies were made, and I got one, signed and all by the mighty Gammer. Don't know if it's anywhere on any other outlets, but if not, you are reading a review of an album you cannot get anymore. I am sorry. The mixing is okay. Not as quick as certain other mixes he's done. Certain bits I would be a bit 'meh' about, but it's Gammer, he can do whatever he fancies. It still kept the entertainment level high up. And it's also the level of anticipation: everyone loves a bit of the oldskool Gammer sound. Oh, and let's not forget the Dougal sound. There was a treat on Happy Hardcore's website, regarding this and other albums Gammer released in a short period of time. Some weren't happy about it, but I couldn't care. Maybe it was his way of saying 'goodbye' to the scene, seeing as he was slowely going towards the EDM world? The album has a lot of wicked anthems. Some very shortly played, but that's Gammer for you. Too many wicked anthems, still able to pack a punch, years after their release date. Gammer's back catalogue is impressive, be it on his own, or with others. I have to say that he should be proud of any album he has worked on. And for the raving community, we should be proud of his impact. When Hardcore was big, he made it even bigger. And gave us a lot of excellent memories. Many dancefloor anthems were made by this legend. A good album. I really enjoyed it. Some mixing bits were a bit 'non-Gammer-ish'. But besides that a good album. Which you cannot get via Music Monday anymore. I am sorry for this very late review.... Ps. I only found out today twho was behind United In Dance! Never knew who was behind it. - Endemic Tribute Mixed By Aeon (2020)
As I said a few weeks ago, I would review the second mix in this 'tribute' series, made by both Aeon and Greg Peaks. One was focussed on Lost Soul, and the mix was genuinely amazing. Now, the second mix. Made by Aeon, and focussed on the group Endemic. Now I'm not an expert, but I'm not 100% sure who's behind this name? But what I do know that they are a Hard Trance/Freeform group. And their influence is yeast. Now you know. I don't know the ins- and outs, but I do know of their existence, and their impact on the Freeform scene. You are all fanatics, and you love their music, but what you didn't know, what their back catalogue. This Freeform collective have created many memorable anthems, and DJ Aeon decided to compose an hour and 40 minute long mix, full of Endemic tunes. If that doesn't give you a hard cock. You will really appreciate this mix. It's a good one. And before you start questioning if this mix is better than Greg Peaks' one, or visa versa: we do not give a shit. Two different DJs, two complete different freeform acts. But what they've got in common is Freeform. And it's all beautiful Freeform. So it's time now to check out the tracklist: 01. Endemic - I'm Not Gonna Hurt You 02. Endemic - Wet Dreams 03. Endemic - Pollys Pharmacy (Bootleg) 04. Endemic - Escape 05. Endemic - Double Helix 06. Endemic - Chaos Theory 07. Endemic - Lunar Energy 08. Endemic - Hurricane 09. RX, Jolea - My Serenity (Endemic Remix) 10. CLSM feat Stefan B - Free Your Mind (Endemic Remix) 11. Adele - Hometown (Endemic Remix) 12. Endemic - Investatron 3000 13. Endemic - Loki 14. Endemic - Chosen 15. Endemic - Xen 16. Eryk Orpheus - I'm The Daddy (Endemic Paternity Remix) 17. Lost Soul feat Dark Angel - Sacrifice (Endemic Remix) 18. Endemic - The Prophet 19. Endemic - Hurricane (Modulate Remix) 20. Endemic - Whispers 21. K-Complex - Atomic Orbital (Endemic Remix) 22. Douglas feat Rhona - FM22 (Endemic Remix) 23. Lost Soul vs Endemic - Voice Of The Eclipse 24. Substanced - Shadows Of Tomorrow (DAT Remix) I was highly entertained when I heard Greg's mix, but with Aeon's mix, I am equally entertained. The mix is a tad shorter, but within the hour and 40 minutes you will be in paradise. I wish I could share this with my friends, those that might be interested in this kind of music. Not boring fuck knobheads who only listen to pop music. Meh, maybe I need new friends? Freeform is awesome, and I bloody well know it. Whoever came up with this idea of a tribute mix series is a genius! We should have more people involved! There are so many great Freeform tribute mix opportunities to explore! We need more. Please give us more. Endemic is a truly underrated group of Freeform fanatics, and over the years they've given us amazing records. Aeon's mix is jam packed with wicked Endemic tunes, but which one was the best? 'Chosen'. Simple, don't need to explain why. Just listen to it and feel the vibes coming through your speakers. There's no errors to be found in this mix. Well, only 1 really tiny one, and it's that tiny, I can't even point out when or where it happened. But besides that, it's a wicked mix by Aeon. A fantastic tribute mix. Flawless, and sexy. But why is the size of this mix so humongous? - Enzyme X @ Ground Zero Festival 2007
This week my focus has been on Enzyme X. I do not know why, but I got this craving on Tuesday for some Enzyme X. You know, the Virus CD compilation. I didn't have the album on me, so I had to make due with whatever was online. And quickly I found a few Enzyme X things, and I'm guessing you will enjoy them too. Unless Industrial Hardcore ain't your thing, which makes me wonder: why are you here? The set you are about to listen to, was recorded at Ground Zero Festival back in 2007. Sadly I could not find a decent image of the flyer. So I had to make do with whatever Google had to offer. Anyway, as we all know, Enzyme X is a collective, and consists of multiple artists. It's not just one person or one group, a multi cultured and distinctive group, with a passion for Industrial Hardcore. And at that year's Ground Zero, it was Hamunaptra and Ruffneck who were playing the finest music for you. But yeah, that's not a hidden secret: the MC shouts it within the first 20 seconds lol. Anyway, the set. It's only 36 minutes long, but with 11 records, you know you are going to be amazed by both of these DJs. Darkness, here I come! 01. The Outside Agency & Mindustries - The Immobilizer 02. Enzyme X - Seconds From Disaster 03. Ophidian as Raziel - To Destroy What Is Broken 04. Ophidian - Lynched 05. Ophidian - Insects 06. Hamunaptra - Limytz 07. Knightvision - Apocalypse 08. Enzyme X - Dissonant Poetry 09. Enzyme X - Prankster 10. Nosferatu & Ophidian - Psychiatric Ass 11. Ruffneck & Ophidian - All The Way Down If you are looking for some mellowed out Hardcore, please look anywhere else. Not here. This 36 minute long set is rough as fuck. Of course. Didn't you expect anything else from Hamunaptra and Ruffneck? I haven't got all the Enzyme records, wish I did. But what I'm trying to say is that I keep finding/hearing new records every so often. And even in this set there are a few new ones. But they still keep the Enzyme sound alive and kicking. Can't believe these records are 13+ years old. They still sound so fresh, like they were made yesterday. The set is flawless. And it would be difficult under normal circumstances, but this set contains the best record coming out of the Industrial Hardcore scene: The Immobilizer'. What an absolute beast of a track! Even after so many years it has the power to demolish my braincells in a jiffy. A wonderful set. Credit to Enzyme X. Really enjoyed this trip down memory lane. I am certainly not the only one who appreciates this kind of music... - Thunderdome Live Presents Global Hardcore Nation (1997)
It's the year of our Lord, 1997, and a party happened, which caused a storm within the Hardcore community: Global Hardcore Nation. I remember reading about this event, in I assume the Thunder Magazine. And after the event, as usual, ID&T would release a disc or two, focussed on it. And how cool was it to hear what actually happened during this majestic night. This recording paved the way for me to go to Mysteryland the next year. I do believe that I purchased this album before I purchased Thunderdome '96 Live. This album holds a lot of good memories, and I do know each and every set on here. Like with most ID&T albums, I only need to look or think of an album cover, and I remember 90% of it. If you didn't know it by now: I was obsessed with this label during the 90s. It made my childhood even better! The line-up for this event is an oldskool raver's wettest dream. I am going to name each act, and you have to promise me you do not get aroused by it! 3 Steps Ahead, Count Negative, Dr. Macabre, Rotterdam Terror Corps, Boris Valeo, Buzz Fuzz, Dana, Darrien Kelly, Gizmo, Marc Arcadipane, PCP, Rob & MC Joe, Rob Gee, Weirdo, Drokz, The Ultimate MC. How's that for a line-up? The 2 disc compilation obviously didn't have full sets, only snippets of sets. And the tracklist itself is littered with errors. ID&T albums contained the most errors. I seriously don't know how that happened: they were the biggest label, and yet they fucked up on nearly each album they released. Who was in charge of composing the tracklists? Shame on the person.... Anyway, here's the tracklist. And underneath this review you will find two Soundcloud players: Magpie303 uploaded both sets there, for us all to enjoy! CD 1: DJ Rob & MC Joe 01. DJ Jappo & Lancinhouse - Exlxaxl 02. X-Factor - The Underground 03. DJ Paul & Teenage Warning - Brohymn (This One's For Gabbers) Boris Valeo 01. DJ Weirdo & Phil Omanski - Young Birds 03. DJ Mongoose - Rip Shit Up (DJ Isaac Remix) 04. Masters Of Ceremony - Hardcore To Da Bone (Masters Of Ceremony Dope Mix) This has tickled me yet again. It must have been at least 6 months since I last listened to this CD, and it still makes me feel something special inside. Not even a full year before I experienced the ID&T madness myself, and I still embrace it like it was yesterday. I cannot remember most of the sets I witnessed, but I certainly saw PCP live, and heard 3 Steps Ahead scream at the thousands of fans through his microphone. And saw Rob Gee too. So basically I witnessed most of the artists who played at Global Hardcore Nation, lol. This event was just too damn perfect. I remember reading about it, and especially the second Global Hardcore Nation. That got panned due to the fightings and bad sound system. Well, it was the 90s, so everything and anything would happen. The sets are just perfect. Some a bit better than the others. I really liked the first disc the most. The second one is good too, but does not compete with the first one. It still has wicked livesets on there, but it's a bit meh. The set that kind of ruined it for me, was Rob Gee, and even Marshall Masters' set. The MC was maybe a bit drunk? He cannot even remember his own lyrics! He's off constantly. OK, now the hard part. Which record or set was the best? Well, from the second CD it was a no brainer: MC Drokz & Count Negative's set. Especially 'Lie & Die'. That song screams death and despair. So dark on many levels. It still makes me feel special. And Drokz's voice is just pinnacle to the Hardcore scene. The first dics contains a few wicked sets. Boris Valeo's set is super cool, Rob's set is awesome to start the disc with, but it's Darrien Kelly's set that just blew me away. Underappreciated, if I'm honest. The track that demolishes my braincells in 2020 has to be 'Hardcore M.F.' by Nasty Django. Fuck me sideways, this is pure Hardcore. A wicked CD, with ups and downs. And it had the so called 'last ever set' by DJ Weirdo. The last record of his set is a beast, and I remember seeing it somewhere on tape. It had the Critical Mass singer on it. A wicked record, but the set itself was a tad boring. The recordings itself were not the best, but it captured the night. You had to be there to be blown away by the BPMs coming through the speakers. Thanks Magpie303 for uploading them onto Soundcloud. I really needed to hear these sets again, especially in my car (which doesn't have a CD player). - SPYRO - Bangface Weekender 2020 Promo Mix
Spyro. He's a legend. The well known producer who likes to swear a lot in his videos is back with a brand new mix. This time focussing on his set at this year's Bangface weekender. For this event he made a promo mix, 35 minutes long, and containing the hottest tracks money can buy. And as you all know, Spyro likes to fuck with us. You've must heard at least a few Spyro tunes over the last couple of years: he's bringing the fire everywhere, and has gained a reputation of a bad boy. But is he really? Isn't he just a sweet guy underneath his facade? Nope, he's a bad ass. He doesn't take any prisoners. In this 35 minute long mix he captures you attention, makes sure that you are totally focussed on his mix, and once the beats and bass come through your speakers, he knows that you are his prisoner. He's captured you, and he won't let you go. And for once, I am happy with that kind of prospect. I do like Spyro's unusual approach to UK Hardcore music, or as I like to call his style, EDMCore. But whatever you call it, you know Spyro will bring the heat. So what can you expect in this 35 minute long mix? Fire, that's for sure. You won't be able to sit still once the beat kicks in, Here's the tracklist. 01. Spyro - Short Dick Man 02. Darren Styles - Pull Over 03. Spyro - Blow Ya Mind Dub 04. Spyro - Hands Up For Detroit 05. Spyro - Club Hoes 06. Spyro & Hartshorn - Bass Keeps Pumping 07. Juyen Sebulba & Lil Texas - Rush Hour 08. Jauz - Gassed Up (Spyro Flip) 09. Spyro & Dot.MAX - Pop That Pussy (Bait Booty Mix) 10. Gammer/Darren Styles/Dillon Francis/Eptic/G Eazy - The Drop vs Say Less (Spyro Mashup) 11. Spyro - Renegade Dub 12. Spyro & Joel Foster - Like A Bomb 13. Spyro - Love Comes Down 14. Spyro - Heads Will Roll 15. Kutksi & Komb - Frost & Fire 16. Spyro & Hartshorn - Keep Breakin' 17. Spyro - Outta Space 18. Ookay & Fox Stevenson - Lighhouse (Spyro Flip) 19. Spyro - Bla Bla Bla Dub 20. Alison Wonderland/Valentino Khan - Good Enough (Spyro Flip) 21. Spyro - Ricky 22. Callum Higby - Fade 23. Barely Alive - Be Mine 24. Spyro - Nobody Likes The Records 25. Spyro - Mad Ting Mashup See, I told you he would bring the fire! My GOD, this mix is lit. Is that how the kids say it nowadays? My generation would say 'cool' or 'wicked', lit wasn't even in our dictionary! But anyway, Spyro's mix for this upcoming gig at Bangface Weekender of this year is a big one. I love this reverse bass sound. It's different. Not something I listen to that often. But it's good. It's a kind of music that gets the people moving on the dancefloor. Not even dancefloors, but literally everywhere you can play this, and people start moving. I've really enjoyed this set. A wicked mix, 35 minutes of Spyro madness. I'm sitting here with a huge smile on my face, and a boner. This is such a sexy mix. The best record in this mix, that was difficult. But I chose 'Be Mine' by Barely Alive. Oldskool vibes from the first to the last second. Hope he brings the fire and has a wicked set at Bangface. But Spyro being a nut job (in a good way), he will certainly set the stage on fire, and blow up the fucking speakers! - Thumpa - Best Of Raver Baby 2002-3 (75 Mins) (2013)
I am back with a brand new mix. Well, it's not strictly new, but I've never came across this one in the 7 years it's been online. You've already figured it out what kind of mix it is, if you haven't read the title of this blog. You've seen the image, and know immediately that this mix is a Raver Baby dedication mix. How about that, eh? A nice tribute mix of a legendary label. Not sure what really happened to it, if it is still active of defunct, but what I do know is the fact that it has released tons of amazing records. Records still much respected by the raving community. The mix was made by DJ Thumpa, back in 2013(ish) and it's got some good reviews. People seem to still appreciate this label, and for good reasons. The label has had some amazing success, and Thumpa selected 16 records, and mixed them together beautifully. 72 minutes of Raver Baby madness, who doesn't like that? It will be a trip down memory lane. And I'm guessing you've got the time to do that: storm Jorge is about to destroy our infrastructure, so let's stay indoors, crank up the volume, and let Thumpa's mix take you, back 17-18 years in time. The best years of UK Hardcore! 01. Breeze & UFO - Take Your Time 02. Breeze & Styles - Future Set 03. Styles - Do You Feel The Same 04. Force & Styles - Follow Me (Styles & Breeze Remix) 05. Bo & Luke - Angel 16. Breeze & Styles - You're Shining Mixes like this one always makes me happier than I already am. It always contains records I've not heard in a long time. Or even ever! Thanks Thumpa, for giving me back my happiness. I'm sitting here, smile from ear to ear, and I'm really enjoying this trip back in time. Obviously Breeze and Styles have had a huge impact on the scene, and Thumpa's selection contains a ton of their records, but also a few made by others, like UFO, Dowster, Uprise, and more. This is the kind of UK Hardcore I fell in love with many years ago. Not a fan of the early sound (90s UK Hardcore). I would pick this sound (00s) over anything. It was so ground breakingly good. So different, just what the scene needed. This paved the way for a decade of happiness. We all fell in love with it, and it embraced us nicely. UK Hardcore became bigger and bigger, and even reached me across the pond. And Raver Baby records was one of the labels I really appreciated. Thumpa's mix is just tight. No complaints whatsoever. Oh, and it's also a free download! So that's an added bonus. Even after 7 years it still spreads love and happiness. Big mix. - Tommie Sunshine - #RaveRevival Mixtape Vol. 1 (2020)
Rave. If you are like me, you are obsessed with everything Rave related. Rave is life. Rave is everything, and I'm not even kidding. Raving was a brand new thing in the 90s, and now it's common, and shared by millions of people all over the globe. It is probably the biggest man made thing that got millions of people united, after religion. It is highly impressive that it's still alive, and kicking. But you need to differentiate the old and the new. They are two different worlds. But are they really different? According to Tommie Sunshine they are not. Well, maybe a tad, but his latest mix focusses on new music with the oldskool sound. Oldskool Rave made for the present day raving community. How about that? The old sound is making a huge comeback, and no one told me? Whatever, let us focus on Tommie Sunshine's mix. It's big. 2 hours and 38 minutes of Rave music. Rave with a twist, I might call it from now on. Tommie's mix contains new stuff with a twist, and I'm loving it. I'm obviously an oldskool lover, seeing as I review that kind of style on a weekly basis, but it's nice to see a younger generation embracing the old sound, and make it their own, without ruining it. And it's also nice to see the 'older' generation listening to it, and making excellent mixes full of those records. Does that mean Rave is timeless? Yes. Created in the 90s, still going strong in the 20s. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is highly impressive. Now let's focus on the tracklist. It's a long one, but so is this mix. The perfect mix to listen to on this dreadful Sunday. No need to leave the house: just sit indoors, and press play, with the volume way up. Chillax everyone. 01. Nathan Micay - Ecstacy Is On Maple Mountain I have to say that most of these artists are unknown to me. Like 95% of them. Which should not be the case. Why have I not invested more time in this, and done my research? I am a music lover, and a rave enthusiast! How have I missed this? I am so ashamed of myself, it's unbelievable. But it's enever too late to hallucinate, so let's delve straight into this mix. It's packed with the oldskool vibe, from the first to the last second. Obviously made to fit the present day raving community, but the vibes I'm getting reminds me of raving back in the good ol' days. I was too young around the start of the 90s, but I made up for it a few years later. This has been 2 1/2 hours of pure heaven. It's been years since I last reviewed a Tommie Sunshine mix, but this one really grabbed me from the first to the last second. I've enjoyed it so much, I immediately pressed play again. So many great anthems, and I have to give Tommie credit for making this mix so flawless, and for selecting all these monster anthems. Best record? Well, A*S*Y*S's 'The Acid'. Pure nostalgic feelings. Fuck me sideways, what a beast of a track. This song paints a picture in my mind: it's like the 90s and the 20s had sexual intercourse, and what came out of it, was this record. Tommie, thanks for making my Sunday better! Sadly I cannot download the mix, because I don't have Spotify, but if you do, you will have a wicked time, and can listen to this mix wherever you like! - Jason S - The Rebirth Of Hardcore (2014)
I've not been reviewing for nealy a week, did you miss me? Probably not, you had other things to focus on. But hey, at least I am back now, and had the time to find a few new mixes for me to review. One of the mixes I found, was an old mix by Jason S. You know him as the mix master, the megamix creator. Well, he didn't invent it, but he perfected it. But the mix I am reviewing today isn't a megamix, but just a 'normal' mix. You still hear him perfecting his craft. This mix was uploaded 6 years ago on Soundcloud, but you can see which direction he's taking his mixing skills to. It's funny to find these mixes. I am not passively looking for them, but Soundcloud reminds me of its existence. So thanks Soundcloud for reminding me of forgotten mixes. Basically, I was looking for new music, but came across this, and had to replay it again (I think I did listen to this before, like 2 years ago), but forgot about this mix. It's never too late to review, eh? The mix is filled with excellent tunes. Really excellent tunes. Some tunes I have not come across for a long time, and I do mean a long time. All focussed on the Masters of Hardcore sound from back in the days. And that sound, is truly astonishing. If I can go back in time, I would go to these years. The best years for Hardcore. Yes, the early stuff is great, but this sound is so unique and fresh, and it gave Hardcore a boost it truly deserved. So I'd rather listen to this for the rest of my life. Let me show you the tracklist. It's a beast of a mix. 01. Jason S - Intro: Giving Birth 02. Kid Morbid - Speed Cult 03. Angerfist - It Never Stops 04. Noize Suppressor & Endymion - Gangboy 05. Chaosphere vs Evil Activities - Back In The House 06. Knightvision & D'Spyre - Apocalypse (Nosferatu's VIP Mix) 07. Re-Style - Roos 08. DJ Promo - Messin' With Yo Mind 09. DJ Wicked & Nonasylum - Up Yours 10. E-Noid - Liquid Super D 11. Dione - Highway To Hell 12. The Alienator - The Invaders 13. Hard SL - Hardstyle Suckers 14. The Alienator - The Terminator 15. Jason S - Outro: Hardstyle Festival Sick tracklist. Am I the only one who's feeling and missing this sound? This early MoH sound is so unique and fresh, and nothing like we are currently hearing in the Hardcore charts. It's more forcussed on the Frenchcore side, but I wish we could go back to these MoH sounds, that would make me a happier person. Jason S has made yet another wicked mix. This mix was made way before I was introduced into his megamix skilled world, but with this early mix he shows us that he was heading towards the megamix style we are all known with and love. A few specifically Jason S izms in this mix, and also included a shit ton of excellent anthems. Jason S, you've done it again. Epic mix, epic mixing skills. No world of a lie, but it's been another great mix. I've really enjoyed this trip down memory lane. And the title of the mix suits it well: this kind of sound was the definitive reason why Hardcore came back. The rebirth is thanks to labels such as MoH. No word of a lie. But it's also the raving community that made it come alive again. We could not live in a world without Hardcore. Imagine that!? That's insane. Sickening. Fantastic mix. Not downloadable, but still highly enjoyable. And Kid Morbid's track has to be the finest of the lot. - The Hardcore Years: 1995 (2020)
Only a couple of weeks ago I found this mix by DJ Virus, which was focussed on the wonderful year 1993. Now it's time to show you his latest mix, which focusses on 1995, and is more Happy Hardcore focussed. That is good. A bit of the oldskool on this Sunday morning. But the previous mix blew me away, due to the simple fact that it had so many records crammed into an hour long mix, and today's mix is no different: 115 records in a 61 minute long mix. How's that even possible? How can we distinguish each record, when they come at us through our speakers at ridicilous speed? Fuck, this is going to be interesting. Is it just my personal opinion, but was 1995 one of the best years for Happy Hardcore? 1995 and 1996, those were the years. Especially for the Dutch side of Happy Hardcore. It died in 1998, but hey, at least we got a few years of wicked music. The Dutch sound obviously did not sound anything like the UK Happy Hardcore, but had a lot of similarities. The Brits liked to put breakbeat sound in them, when we liked to put more gabber sounds in them. My focus went to the Dutch/European sounding Happy Hardcore. I lived in the Netherlands back then, so I missed out on a lot of other sounding Happy Hardcore anthems. But fear not: DJ Virus is here to re-educate me into the UK Happy Hardcore from 1995. So now it's time for you all to see the tracklist, and this is going to be painful: manually type the whole tracklist. Pff. Got to hand ME some credit for this.... 01. Fade - Break Thru 02. Even though I cannot hear each and every track. It's just too damn fast. DJ Virus' mix is just too dope. And I love the fact that he's included a few Dutch Happy Hardcore anthems, be it only for a few seconds. But he made this mix sound so good. I wonder how he mixes these together? I'm guessing he's not doing the whole 'two decks, one mixer, and a shit ton of vinyl' thing. How would you be able to do that, and make it sound so flawless? Like the previous mix, I am highly impressed. Seriously impressed. But this mix does a bit more to me: not only has Virus selected an awesome year, but he's made it focussed around Happy Hardcore. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the sound I really love. Only love and appreciation for this mix. No negative feedback. Virus has gained a new follower: ME. - Slipmatt @ Bang Face Boat Party 2019
Can I just say that I've never been on a boat and raved on it. Well, as far as I can remember. I've been all over the country, raving, and seen many venues, but never a boat. That to me is weird, but hey, it's a thing. So let me get this straight: you get a boat, throw a few people on it, book a DJ, and have a wicked time? That's what happened last year, at BangFace's boat party, on the 12th of July 2019. And it was stated as a nautical neo rave? Wow. Seriously never knew raving on a boat could sound so menacing and yet excited at the same time! But if you put Slipmatt on this boat, you will certainly have a great time. I've met and seen the legend several times, and always found his sets astonishing. He's the Godfather of Happy Hardcore for a reason, you know. He's oldskool, and I'm not making fun of his age. He is someone who lives and breathes the early rave sound. Give Slipmatt a stage, and he will turn anything into a party. Never boring with this man. Sadly a lot of his sets do not come with a tracklist, and even though I know most of the records he plays, I'm bad with naming them. Hell, I can't even remember what I ate yesterday. But someone was so kind enough to add a tracklist, so if you are a true oldskool fanatic, you can fill in the ID-less records. But at least we've got a tracklist. Here's the partial tracklist. Please do fill in the blanks if you know them. 01. ID - ID 02. Egma - Let The Bass Kick (Total Confusion Remix) 03. Holy Noise - Father Forgive Them 04. Cybersonik - Technarchy 05. Guru Josh - Infinity 06. Outlander - Vamp 07. Second Phase - Mentasm 08. L.A. Style - James Brown Is Dead 09. Quadrophonia - Quadrophonia 10. N-Joi - Malfunction 11. ID - ID 12. ID - ID 13. Moby - Go 14. ID - ID 15. The Prodigy - Everybody Is In The Place 16. ID - ID 17. DJ's Unite - Volume 1 18. N.R.G. - He Never Lost His Hardcore 19. Digital Domain - I Need Relief 20. The Prodigy - G-Force (Energy Flow) 21. Urban Hype - I Feel The Heat 22. SL2 - On A Ragga Tip 23. M-D-Emm - Move Your Feet (Keep Those Hands Up! And Stop Buying All That Crap Pop Music. Mix!) 24. 2 Bad Mice - Bombscare (Remix) 25. Dance Conspiracy - Dub War 26. Noise Overload - Right Here, Right Now (Part II) 27. Bass Selective - Blow Out Part II 28. Slipmatt - Breaking Free I've taken the liberty to use Shazam, to fill in some of the blanks. And it did work. But some it simply didn't recognise. Maybe the records were too underground for the app. Who knows. Anyway, let's get back to the boat. Slipmatt is on it, and playing these rave anthems. How does that make you feel? Not seasick, I hope. Well, the Thames can be a bit violent, but I'm guessing in July it supposed to be calm and relaxing. I'm guessing the feeling is unique, and I just can't picture it happening! But as long as it has got a power socket, you can put a set anywhere. Slipmatt never disappints. He's always on top of things. I've enjoyed each encounter with the superstar, and it's been too long since I last seen him perform. I love that he can make each set so different, but remaining so awesome at the same time. And let's not forget, he has to throw in his own legendary classics. SL2 anyone? The biggest rave anthem of all time? I just loved the set a lot, and so did the people on the boat. You can tell that the people in the picture were more focussed on raving than anything else. Social media? Nah, we don't need that, just pure raving. It's the fucking Godfather behind the decks! He doesn't take any prisoners, and wants you to dance. He has fulfilled his job. I am dancing my arse off, in my living room! Wicked mix. If anyone can fill in the ID-less records, that would be appreciated. And yes, you can mock me for NOT knowing these classics. I do know them, but not the titles. I am ashamed of myself. - Hardstyle Carnaval 2020
Carnival is about to happen. Before you are assuming that I'm talking about Brazilian carnival, you are wrong. I am talking about Dutch carnival, known as carnaval. Especially the Southern areas in the Netherlands. Down South is where they celebrate it the most. They try to do it 'above the river', but they fail. Only the South understands the true meaning behind carnaval, and we have the best parties. Fact. There's still an ongoing debate where carnaval is best, Limburg or Brabant, but I cannot judge. I've never celebrated carnaval in Brabant, seeing as I'm a Heerlenaar. But we do it extremely well in Limburg though. Anyway, let's talk about carnaval, and the emerging Hardstyle sound. When I grew up, we didn't have this. We only had the die-hard carnaval anthems but not Freestyle sounding tracks. I wish I was partying now. It's so damn cool to hear two really unique styles coming together, and the blend resulting in a wicked party sounding style. You need to please the youngsters too. The old carnaval anthems are boring. BPMs to be increased, and more bass. Always more bass. Someone on Soundcloud uploaded this Hardstyle Carnaval 2020 mix, and if you do not understand the Dutch language, you might be a bit baffled, but don't worry: you just need to feel the vibes. And understand that we like to party. 24/7, 365 days a year. I am not lying, in saying that I don't know at least 95% of the artists. I've heard of a few, but remember I left the Netherlands 4 years ago, and I haven't invested any time in carnaval since. I am sorry. Time for the traclist. Oftewel, tijd voor de tracklist. Enjoy it. 01. Hollandse Herrie & PartyfrieX - Brewery Of Lunacy (Het Stuiterbal Anthem) 02. PartyfrieX - Ik Heb Gezopen (Hardstyle Remix) 03. Schorre Chef, MC Vals, Plug 'N Play - Het Mooie Brabant 04. Lawineboys - Joost (Rogerson Bootleg) 05. Snollebollekes & Kalvijn - Leuke Sfeer Wel (Ephoric Bootleg) 06. Stefan & Sean feat Bram Krikke - Frikandel Special (Rogerson Hardstyle Bootleg) 07. Lamme Frans - Handjes Handjes Bloementjesgordijn (P!mpteam Remix) 08. Het Feestteam - Malle Babbe (Bass Chaserz Remix) 09. Feest DJ Maarten - Mama Laudaa (Hardstyle Remix) 10. Marco Kraats feat Peter vd Veire - Links Rechts Voor Achter (Resolved & Feest DJ Remco Bootleg) 11. Parla & Pardoux - Liberte (Zany Remix) 12. Vieze Jack - De Hut Verbouwen (Confetti Ravers Remix) 13. Opgeblazen feat Wilbert Pigmans - De Toreador (Crude Intentions Remix) 14. Craniax & Joey Martens - Barman Waar Is Mijn Pils 15. Andre Hazes - Kleine Jongen (Ephoric Bootleg) 16. Peter Selie - Hoemoes Da Ok Alweer (Slagerij Janssen Remix) 17. BC Den Peejkes & De Kapers Van Het Zuiden - Koning Carnaval (Hardstyle Carnaval) 18. Alex - Adio Amore (Ephoric Bootleg) 19. Ferry De Lits - Ademloos Door De Nacht (Pittboy & Jeremiah Remix) 20. Bestia feat Schorre Chef & MC Vals - De Barman (Snowbass Festival 2020 Anthem) 21. Django Wanger - Kali (Outsiders Remix) 22. PartyfrieX feat Schorre Chef - Ik Moet Zuipen! (Hardstyle Frenchcore Remix) I don't know what to say to the tracklist. I only know a handful of records, but never heard of the majority of artists. It's like a whole sub culture which has emerged after my last carnaval! I have lost touch with my roots, my Dutch roots. It even felt difficult typing the tracklist in Dutch. Boy, 4 years abroad does a lot to you. But, all in all, it's an entertaining mix. It brings a smile on your face, and gets people excited for carnaval. It's happening on the 23rd of February 2020, if Google is correct. So get you costume ready, make sure you've got enough make up, and money for boozing throughout carnaval. I remember, when I grew up, that some people saved up throughout the year, just for carnaval. That's dedication. A few small errors did occur throughout the mix, but who cares? If you hear these tunes, you are probably getting into the carnaval zone, and probably drunk. So who cares? You just want to party and enjoy life! I fully understand. Let yourself go, and be careful. Don't overdo it. Alaaf, iedereen! - The Flashback 1.0 (2020)
Monkey Kong is back with a brand spanking new mix. A new mix, with classic Hardstyle anthems. And we all love those anthems, don't we? Yes, the scene in 2020 is still vibrant and alive, but the early sound will never leave our side. It's part of our history, and has given us so many great anthems. Judging Monkey Kong's statement on Soundcloud, there will be more mixes to follow, staying on this oldskool path. Which is going to be great. Again, who doesn't like the early Hardstyle sound? The mix is an hour and a half long, and with 47 records, I know you all will be pleased. And why wouldn't you be? This is not my first Monkey Kong mix, I've listened to a few so far, and have not been disappointed yet. And before you all start yapping on about nothing,I am an early sound connoisseur, and I know what I'm talking about. I grew up listening to Hardstyle when it emerged after the Millennium, and spent a lot of money on CDs, most of them Hardstyle CDs. So yeah, I am not disappointed today: I've already checked this mix out several times, and have found it extremely good. Let's check out the tracklist. You know you want to see it! 01. Luna - Bring That Shit Back 02. TNT - Double Dutch Darkies 03. Toneshifterz & Code Black - About The Music 04. Tatanka - Tokyo 05. Davide Sonar - Spiritual Fire 06. Noisecontrollers - Promises 07. Boy oh boy, the memories. It's like a flashback. Oh wait, that's the title of this newly created mix series. Ah I see, that's why it's named that way. The mix contains a lot of reoccuring names, such as Wildstylez, Headhunterz, and more. But to be fair, they have been dominating the scene for quite a while now. But it's nice that Monkey Kong added a few obscure and forgotten about anthems in here. Obviously the majority of records I knew and cherrished, but some I've completely forgotten about! That's the main reason why I listen to a lot of oldskool mixes: it always takes you back, and reminds you of all the awesome stuff released, and forgotten about. I've got only love to give to this mix. Obviously you don't get full length anthems, but short versions, but they are still long enough for you to become highly excited. And Crypsis' 'Torture' has done that to me. What a wicked and brilliant anthem. Time for me to dig through my collection and find the full length version. Monkey Kong, you rule! - WINTER HARDCORE 2019 MIX
It's official, it's Winter. But looking outside, a storm is brewing. Storm Ciara is currently sweeping the nation, and throwing bins around the place. It's manic, it's hectic. Scary? Not really, but it's still early. Things might happen later. But for now it's my neighbours bins that are suffering from the storm. So to not hear them flying through the street, I needed something hard, rough, and idiotic. Hence why I went to Lil Texas' page. This Texian DJ has been doing great stuff in the harder style scene, and has become a household name in such a short period of time. And his WINTER HARDCORE 2019 MIX has already been listened to 27k+ within a month. It seems that people are digging this a lot. Am I one of those people? Well, I'm still listening to this mix, so the answer is yes. It's hard though. Bloody Nora, it's hard. This is not for the people who can't handle beats above 138 BPM. This has got way more BPMs than most of us can handle. And if you wanted to see Lil Texas, you could have seen him at GPF party, which happened only a few hours ago. Not fair, I wanted to go there. But hey ho, I am not. Anyway, if you have missed this event, no worries: at least we've got this Winter mix. Even though in London it doesn't look like Winter at all. The mix is 58 minutes long. and contains 45 records. Starting with some nice Hardstyle/Rawstyle anthems, and slowly increasing the BPMs. By the time you've reached the half hour mark, you are already out of breath, and you feel dehydrated. Or is that just me? The tracklist for anyone who's interested (if you haven't seen this mix already): 01. Thyron & Luminite - Loud Noises x Fraw - Combat (Intro Edit) 02. Malice & Luminite - Death Destruction (Live Edit) 03. Delete feat Rooler - Annihilate 04. eDUB - 154 05. Blaster & Project Core - Fade To Black 06. Dither & Cesqueax - Detonate 07. Stereotype - Abracadabra 08. Project Core - Rising 09. The Satan - Bombs 10. Dither - Blow The Speakers 11. Reevoid - Blessed 12. Djipe - City Of Ash 13. Blaster - Tear The Place Up 14. Yoshiko & Redrums - Ganja Kidz 15. The Melodyst & Menthalquake - Technology 16. Broken Minds feat Ernesto Alonso & Alee - Waltz Of Death (Official Masters Of Hardcore Spain 2019 Anthem) 17. Tha Playah - Vigilance 18. Broken Minds - Coke In My Nose 19. Deadly Guns & Delete - In Control 20. Rooler & N-Vitral - Get Back 21. Nosferatu & Furyan - The Possession 22. The Satan - Demolition 23. Angerfist - Geto Tremble 41. Cryogenic - Push It To The Limit 42. Scarphase vs N-Vitral presents Bombsquad - Crack Smokers 43. Trespassed & MBK - Basement 44. Scarphase - Scarphase Bass (Cryogenic Remix) 45. GPF - All I Want For Christmas Is Fuuuuuck For those picky people out there, the tracklist on Soundcloud says 46, but I could only see 45 records. Number 26 seemed to have disappeared? Anyway, you are not that bothered, are you? You couldn't care less. At the moment, the wind is blowing outside, and this mix is blowing my mind, all at the same time. This is filth. Lil Texas, you are a weirdo. Your Winter mix is truly insane. How can anyone still be standing after 58 minutes? You are truly blown away by the BPMs, and they only increase from the first second. No fucking about, this man does not take any prisoners. Best record? I wanted to choose GPF's record, specifically the last record, but we are outside of the festive season, so I cannot select it now. Instead I've selected The Satan's 'Bombs'. A true dancefloor smasher. Filth. Maybe in Texas it's Winter now, and they are experiencing a lot of snow. God knows, sadly never been to 'Murica.Really want to though. But for now I'm fine in London. But this DJ does bring the heat and fire to 'Murica. I love the fact that he just does whatever he fancies. Plays the hardest records out there. And also that he has given this mix out for free, if you've got Spotify. I do not have it, but if you want to hear this mix, just get Spotify, and listen to it wherever you fancy. A fantastic mix. Hard, rough, and yeah, fucked up. But did you expect anything else from Lil Texas? I certainly didn't expect a slow mix. But this hard? Not really. We need more Lil Texas. This mix was dope. - THE ARTIST FORMALLY KNOWN AS MISTER PODCAST (2016)
I know, I know. This has been reviewed before. But I couldn't let this one go by without letting you know of its existence. But there's more I discovered today, for which I have missed all the signs. But that to come later. For now, let's talk about TAFKAMP and the Strobe mix he made for them 4 years ago. 4 years ago I discovered TAFKAMP, and my whole life changed. Seriously, it changed. That's when I came to the UK, and when my illness started to creep up on me. The funny thing was, that the intro suited me sooo well, you wouldn't believe it. I actually had cysts removed (and now my whole kidney is gone), but it always made me smile, this fucked up intro. But it's not all about cysts. It's about Techno. And Techno, ladies and gentlemen, is awesome. Filth. Sexy. Rude. Hard. Lovely. You can use literally any word you want, and it describes Techno. But one word sticks on my mind, and suits the style more than any other: timeless. That's what Techno is. If you look at TAFKAMP's mix, it's a mix and match of old and new and whatever he could find. And he even ends on a harder and faster paced note. I'm loving this a lot. The 'secret' I uncovered, is who's behind TAFKAMP. I literally had no clue, no idea. I thought it was a weirdo making music on old Roland equipment in his attic. A zolderkamer producer. But he definately isn't. But you might be wondering: who's the stranger behind the name? Who's responsible for this mix? Well, I am not telling you. Use the power of the internet to find it out. The mix. Tracklist. Yep, it's on its way! 01. Overcast - Cyst Sandwich 02. Schmerzlabor - Car Audio Test Track 03. Kraftwerk - It's More Fun To Compute 04. Unit Moebius - Beat That Perculator 05. T-Bone Castro - Hilltop Hustler (I'm The One & Only) 06. Altern-8 - Move My Body (Hard Hardcore Mix) 07. The Mover - Waves Of Life 08. TAFKAMP - Nothingness 09. The Mover - The Emperor Takes Place 10. TAFKAMP - Trauner 11. Fast Money - One $ 12. Terrace - Untitled (B3) 13. The Horrorist - Mission Ecstasy 14. TAFKAMP - Fictief 15. Terrace - Trance Xpress 16. Fallbeil - Brutal Ignorant 17. Muslimgauze - Untitled 1985 18. Hibbem Soundsystem - High Coos (Alternative Studio Mix) 19. Kraftwerk - Numbers 20. Bierkoerier - High Have It 21. Legowelt - Electro Race 22. LFO - Whistle While You Jerk 23. Synthadelic - I'm A Secretary 24. DJ Pierre - Box Energy (AFX 2 Remix) 25. Unknown Artist - Countdown FFM V (A2) 26. Bald Terror - Rotterdam 27. Signs Of Chaos - Killout 3 (A2) A well thought of tracklist. It's not easy to make a mix that lives on the border of perfection, but with the right tracks you are capable of doing anyting. And TAFKAMP's selection is truly astonishing. What makes it stranger is the fact that he blends several styles into one, seamlessly sounding mix, and it all just sound epic. He even managed to cram in a few oldskool rave anthems, Hardcore/Gabber anthems, and the result is something he should be proud of. Some of the records selected are truly amazing. Weird, yes, but amazing. How did he find these gems? Who the fuck would made a record and call it 'Whistle While You Jerk'? That's just crazy. But I'm loving the weird vibes surrounding this mix. I'm feeling this. It's nice and mellow, if truth be told. It's a nice and relaxing hour and 3 minute long mix. TAFKAMP is a hero, and that's no exaggeration. Don't know why the original mix was taken down, but thankfully TAFKAMP uploaded it 2 years ago again onto his Soundcloud page. And if you are looking for a weird but exciting page, do not look any further. TAFKAMP is cool, ladies and gentlemen. He is uber cool. Not uber as in the driver, uber, But even cooler. Best record of this mix? I have to give credit to 'Rotterdam' by Bald Terror. I love the transition from the previous and next track, and this monster anthem. Underrated classic anthem. Loving it. A weird concept, this TAFKAMP. But I love it. I hope this mix stays long enough on Soundcloud, so I can show this to my grankids, and say 'grandad was a freak, and listened to this, you know', whilst eating a Werther's Original. - Freestyle Maniacs Hardcore Classics 1992 -2002 Early Mix-tape 002
It's Wednesday. Wednesday, Early Hardcore day. It's not an official day, but truth be told, every occupation on God's given Earth has got their own day, and all genders, all sexualities, everything has got their own specific day. Why not have a Hardcore day? And no, not full on Hardcore porn. I'm talking about Gabber, Hardcore. Hardcore House/Techno. That kind of porno. Much better than porno. Is it even better than sex? Sometimes you get even more of an experience when you listen to Hardcore music. Anyway, today is Hardcore day to me, so I went on Soundcloud, searched for 'Early Hardcore', found a ton of shit mixes, and the first one with a tracklist, and actually sounding good, was this mixtape by the Freestyle Maniacs. I've got this feeling I've already reviewed this before. I can't recollect. Is it due to me partying too much in the 90s and early 00s that my braincells are slowly moving away from my body? I should be a bit more professional, shouldn't I? Anyway, if I have or haven't, it really doesn't matter, and that's why I should be talking about the actual mix. The mix contains a lot of wicked anthems. 47 to be precise. In an hour long mix. So be prepared for an eargasm. Don't you just love it, going back in time? For this mix the Freestyle Maniacs have selected records from 1992 til 2002. 10 years of excellent Hardcore anthems. Do you think the same? What do you think of the tracklist? Opinions, please?! 01. Hardcore Elements vs Bad News - Tell The DJ 02. DJ Isaac - Face Down, Ass Up 03. Marshall Masters - Stereo Murder 04. Crowd Control - Tranzformer (Attic & Acesone Remix) 05. The Darkraver & DJ Vince - Thunderground 06. Robert Armani - Hit Hard 07. Rave Creator - A New Mind (Cold Rush Phuture Mix) 08. Radical 2 React - Eliminating Suckers 09. Bodylotion - Make You Dance 47. Bass-D & King Matthew - In The Mix Brilliant selection. It's obviously filled with the most well known anthems in our raving history, but that doesn't spoil the mix. Oh contraire, my friend. Sometimes you just need to hear ALL the classics. And I do mean ALL the classics. And the Freestyle Maniacs have selected a ton of excellent tunes. And made by a wide variety of artists. Beautiful, I say. Beautiful. You would expect me to choose an all time favourite like 'Simbiosis', 'Midnight Impact', 'Stereo Murder', or anyone similar as my favourite. You are oh so wrong. My favourite, which I haven't heard in years, is 'Slammin Beatz' by Pinhead. Proper oldskool vibes. This track is filled with the early sound. Gosh, I miss that sound a lot. Simplicity is what we need. Back to the 303, 606 and 909s. A very good mixtape by the Freestyle Maniacs. I will check out if there are more online I can listen to. Even though the edges are still a bit sharp during mixing, it's still a highly enjoyable mix with 47 classic anthems. Who doesn't like a bit of Hardcore on a Wednesday? Downloadable too! Another bonus. Wicked, sir! - The Best Of Bonkers Mixed By DJ Brady (2020)
Bonkers. Ever heard of this compilation? Ever bought any of these albums? If you haven't, are you even a raver? This compilation ran between 1996 and 2009, and had some amazing albums over the years. Most of these albums were mixed by Sharkey, Hixxy and Scott Brown, but they also had a few guest mixes by big names such as Dougal, Vibes, Breeze & Styles, Re-Con, CLSM, Kutski, Kevin Energy, Chris Unknown, Marc Smith, and more. 11 years ago it died a slowly death, after being resurrected. It's still one of the most influencial names in the UK Hardcore rave history, and has played a huge part of it. Memories galore! The whole compilation is mesmerizing, and has been a fan favourite for many years now. Of all the mix compilations being released over the years, the Bonkers compilation has had the most impact of them all. Also, I do think there are more mixes focussed on the Bonkers compilation than all the others out there on Soundcloud and Mixcloud. Everyone loves the Bonkers compilation, and why not? This all makes sense. I threw my collection away, because I've got them all stored on my PC now, but I remember when I was buying them, some had to come from Australia, because they were sold out in the UK, or not made anymore (I jumped the band wagon too late). DJ Brady's latest mix is focussed on the UK Hardcore compilation Bonkers, and this hour and a half long mix has got 22 epic anthems. All his own favourites. And after hearing the mix, the selection is really interesting. So let me show you the tracklist right now: 01. DJ Brady - Intro 02. Brisk & Ham - Getting High 03. Breeze & Styles - The Beat Kicks 04. Styles & Breeze - Your Shining 05. Scott Brown - Elysium Plus 06. Scott Brown - Gang Bang Society 07. Dougal & Gammer - Fires In The Sky 08. UFO & MC Marley - Connections 2002 09. Scott Brown - Blue Anthem 10. Scott Brown & Cat Knight - All About You 11. Paradise - See The Light (Sy & Unknown Remix) 12. Brisk & Vagabond vs MC Wotsee - The Last Word 13. Dougal & Gammer - Get Hype (Exclusive Bonkers 9 Remix) 14. Stargazer - Ultimate High (Breeze & Styles Remix) 15. Dougal & Gammer - Jam The NightClub (Remix) 16. UFO & Marley - Hardcore Underground 2002 17. Dougal & Gammer - The 6th Gate 18. Dougal & Gammer - Go Widda Flow (Beat The System) 19. Dougal & Gammer - This Is A Virus 20. Plus System - Neckbreaker 21. Fracus feat Ali - Guiding Light 22. Gammer - Let's All Say Fuck Wow. A good selection, mr Brady. Excellent choice. Maybe this could be the start of something? More of these mixes please, I really like the Bonkers collection, and I would like to see similar mixes like this one show up on my timeline on Soundcloud. The hour and a half has flown by without me even realising it. A lot of reoccuring names do appear in this mix, like Scott Brown, Breeze & Styles, Dougal and Gammer, but also a few records we all love and adore by Sy & Unknown, UFO and MC Marley, and Fracus feat Ali (and also Brisk & Ham). Correct me if I'm wrong, but this mix is focussed on the music released after the Millennium period, yes? This sounds like all the anthems I grew up with, listening to once I discovered UK Hardcore. I can only give Brady credit for making this excellent mix. Really enjoyed the 21 records he has selected. And of course he had to select the biggest anthem of ALL time, and fight me in the comments if you disagree, but 'See The Light' has to be the ultimate dancefloor smasher! What a beast of a track. Download this right now, and make sure you blow the dust of your collection. Get Bonkers back into our lives again. But please, don't let anyone reboot the series. They tried it, and it failed. Don't do it again. Thank you. - RUFFNECK RECORDS TRIBUTE MIX BY PANIC (2019)
Bloody Nora, how come I've only found out that Panic organised another amazing looking 'Start The Pan!c' last September? WTF Soundcloud and Facebook, why didn't you update me on time? I might have gone. Might. Maybe in 2020 I go to this event, always wanted to go to Panic's own event. The line-up always looked extremely interesting. For last year's edition he played alongside Dazzler, OCD, The Viper, Ruffneck, and the MC of the night was TMC. So a short but good selection. And to show tribute to one of the coolest DJs in the scene he made this hour long promo mix, with only Ruffneck records in the mix. That, ladies and gentlemen, is just porn. Who needs Pornhub when you've got this mix? Get the tissues ready. Both DJs are legends, but Ruffneck has got a bigger status in the underground scene. He's done so much for the darker sounding Hardcore scene, and the back catalogue of this man is immense. I find it still impressive to hear anthems in 2020, which sound completely timeless. But let's not underrate DJ Panic. He's also a legend, with tons of excellent tunes under his belt. But this promo mix is focussed on DJ Ruffneck, so let's talk about the tracks Panic has selected for this mix. I always hear new music, every single day. And I thought I knew everything Ruffneck related. Panic made sure that I was put back into my place. I do not know everything. Panic's record collection must be impressive. So which records have been selected for this promo mix? Let me warn you: tickets cannot be bought anymore for this event. Before numpties try to get some. You (and I) are too damn late. 01. Juggernaut - The World Of The LSD User 02. Undercover Anarchist - Amman 03. Wedlock - Bass For Yer Face 04. Wedlock - One Day 05. Undercover Anarchist - Yo Te Quirro 06. Diss Reaction - DJ Lan 07. Undercover Anarchist - Work It To The Bone 08. Juggernaut - XTC Motherfuck 09. Lockjaw - Deep In The Underground 10. Lockjaw - Underground Funk 11. Vanugenth The 5th - Here We Go Again 12. Ectomoroph - Heartbeat 13. Wedlock - Terradome 14. Diss Reaction - Jiieehhaaaa 15. Lockjaw - Reactor 16. Wedlock - I'm The Fuck You Man 17. Predator - Mind Of A Lunatic 18. Knightvision - Knight Of Visions 19. Phoenix - Now Who's In Control 20. Lockjaw - Ruff 'n' Ruggin 21. Wedlock vs Predator - Roots And Culture 22. Wedlock - Acid Rain 23. Lunalotic - Happyhouse 24. Trickster - Whiteline 25. Myrmidion - No Choice 26. Knightvision - Who Is It? 27. Ectomorph - Mindblower 28. Juggernaut - Ruffneck Rules Da Artcore Scene After listening to this mix it does appear to have a few obscure underground anthems in here, which I've never came across before, but it made me smile: there weren't that many. So I'm still on top of everything Ruffneck related. Still missed this awesome event. And I call myself a raver? I'm a shaver (shamed raver). That sounds wrong, fuck. Panic knows how to please the fanatics, and with this mix he not only shows his skills behind the decks, but also his impressive ability to catch everyone's attention. Ruffneck does not need an introduction, he's an all round legendary producer and DJ. But it's nice to see and hear tribute mixes, made by other legendary acts. The true Hardcore fan who has been following the scene since the early 90s has to agree with the following statement: Ruffneck has made more anthems than anyone else. His impact in the scene has been tremendous, and the hype surrounding the sound still lives on. We are now in 2020, nearly 30 years after Hardcore emerged, and I'm still a happy Hardcore lover. I do fully underline other great producers, but Ruffneck has to be number 1. Or at least in the top 5 of all time great producers. A wonderful mix. Not sure if the tracklist is a 100% accurate. But yeah, it does not take away the fact that this mix is dope as fuck. Best record? Starting around the 7:40 mark. I forgot the title, but it's an epic tune. DJ Panic's awesome mix is a great one, if you love Hardcore. If you don't, do one. Go away and hide away from us. Only true Hardcore fanatics are allowed to listen to this. And open minded people. Panic and Ruffneck, a golden duo. Thanks both for making my Saturday even better! Hardcore 24/7. Oh, it's also nice to end the mix with Ruffneck's most commercially successful record of all time. Slated, yes, but still a feel good song. - Lost Soul Tribute Mix By Greg Peaks (2020)
Spamming TCD on Facebook can sometimes be successful. Or have the complete opposite effect. It can be seen as a nuisance, or even rude. The worst kind is when someone posts something WITHOUT a tracklist. That just grinds my gears. Not today. Fuck, not today. Today, the day of our Lord, I saw a message being posted about not just one, but two mixes. One was made by Aeon, and the other by Greg Peaks. Seeing as Greg's face was the first one I saw, I decided to check his out first. Don't worry, Aeon fans, his review will come soon, but for now, the focus is solely on Greg Peaks' excellent mix. Before even writing this review I already shared it on a Dutch music forum, where a handful of Freeform fans are. And I've shared both mixes, with tracklist, and I know they will get good feedback. It's a small community of Freeform fanatics, and I'm glad to be part of it. But now it's time to share this into the worldwide community of Freeform freaks. And they are spread all over the world. I bet that everyone who sees the name Greg Peaks immediately gets a hard one. But it's not all about him. Well, a bit, but the focus of this mix is the musical genius, who goes by the name of Lost Soul. And truth be told: I do know of the legend that is Lost Soul, but seriously do not have a clue who goes behind the name? Quick look on Discogs gave me the answer, but also maybe something shocking: does Lost Soul actually still make music? Or has his page not been updated for a while? Does anyone actually know? Well, who gives a flying fishfuck about my opinion? Let's delve straight into the mix, which is made by a legend himself: Greg Peaks. A 2 and a half hour long mix, with only Lost Soul anthems. Get the tissues ready, you will have eargasm after eargasm! 01. Lost Soul - Natural Instinct 02. Lost Soul feat Dark Angel - Deep Space 03. Lost Soul - Speak Your Mind 04. Lost Soul - Warlock 34. Lost Soul - Human Being Freeform fans, have you used all of your tissues yet? My God, what a blinding set. I forgot how many awesome and beautiful records Lost Soul has made! Of course I have come across many of his anthems over the years, but I forgot that he made so many! It's sick, this mix. Greg's selection is truly awesome, and he's done a great job mixing them all together into this seamlessly sounding mix. Leave that to Greg, he'll get the job done. I'm really impressed with Lost Soul's musical ability to be strong, tough, and yet gentle, all at the same time. He takes us into a new dimension, a heavenly dimension, yet he rips us a new arsehole at the same time. It's beautiful though, don't get my incorrectly phrased emotion wrong. He's definately in my top 5 of all time Freeform producers, and many will have him high on their list too. Oh gosh, the quality of each record is beyond belief. 34 amazing records. Thanks Greg, for making me pick one of out these as my favourite, but I think I found one. It was hard. 'Mindscape'. Never heard that one before, but what a beast! A new arsehole? He rupture me completely with this record. My last 4 braincells have left my body, and I'm now in a zombie like state. And I am freaking loving it. Sitting here with a hard cock, just loving life. And still not understanding why Freeform is so underrated? Greg, excellent mix. Aeon, your mix will be reviewed soon. But fuck me, it will be difficult to compare your mix to this beast of a mix. Lost Soul is just a boss. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how I end this review. I should simply shut the fuck up, and let Greg's mix speak for itself. BEAST MODE ON! - Sean Tyas - January February 2020 Mix
Today has been a good day. Stil recovering, but I'm getting there. Not letting my recovery take over my life completely: life goes on. Today Brexit is officially happening, so instead of watching the news constantly (which I haven't done in the last 4 months, I hate TV), I sat behind my computer, and strolled through my timeline. And boy oh boy, did I find a mix so good, it will blow your ears into pieces! A mix by Sean Tyas, who isn't excited to hear that? This is a brand spanking new mix, containing wicked anthems by Sean Tyas and friends. And I have to say that it's a big mix to start 2020 with. A nice selection of awesome Trance anthems. And ending the mix with probably the dopest track of this year so far. I love expanding my musical knowledge. Don't you just love it, when you find mixes with a ton of new music? Exploring Soundcloud is always my guilty pleasure. And Sean, you have not let me down whatsoever! Tracklist for anyone who's interested. If you are not, there's plenty for you to find on Soundcloud. But I would suggest you check yourself first; how come you don't like this? It's Trance for God's sake! 01. Sean Tyas & John Askew - Unkonscious 02. Starpicker & Nikolauss - Schiphol 03. Cold Blue - Frozen 04. Last Soldier - The Begijnhof 05. MaCiD - Deception 06. Steve Dekay - Labyrinth 07. Metta & Glyde - Live To Tell 08. Kiyoi & Eky x Rezwan Khan - Fall In Deep 09. Tau-Rine - Neon Lights 10. Spectral - TLV Sunset 11. Syafiq Hakim - Deimos 12. Jamie Wallker - Destiny 13. Derek Ryan - Empathy 14. F.G. Noise - Flat Out 15. ID - ID 16. Josh Ferrin - Mauna Kea 17. Sean Tyas vs James Kitcher & Adam Taylor - Mantra 18. Renegade System - Crowd Control 19. Liquid Soul & DJ Dream - Liquid Dream (Sean Tyas Remix) 20. Mattias Bishop - Tranquillity (Madwave Remix) 21. DJ T.H. & Nadi Sunrise feat Michele C - See You Again (Moonsouls Remix) I love this mix. So nice and pure. Relaxing is an understatment. I've been extremely chilled during this mix. The duration of this mix has been excellent. An hour and a half of pure Trance. Epic. I really enjoyed Sean's selection. He's got a good ear, and knows exactly what the listener wants. During this mix I was highly entertained, and if you think it can't be any better than this, wait until the last record! Holy shit, what a beast of a record! 'See You Again', remixed by Moonsouls. The build up, the mid section, the vocals, everything is just picture perfect. This is how I like my Trance music. A big build up towards something epic. I liked the original, but this version is just much better. I can go on for hours, but I'm not. I want you all to experience what I have experienced. Go and check out Sean Tyas' epic and masterful mix. So I'm not going to talk anymore. Just check it out. As simple as A,B, C. - Dj Thera - Hit You With That Oldskool - Mixtape 2 (2020)
I am back! After a short period of not being online due to a bloody kidney surgery, I am slowly getting back into the digital world. And the first mix is a good one. If you love Hardstyle of course. If you hate it, why even bother reading this review? Anyway, during my absence DJ Thera announced that he's got an event coming up, and it's happening tomorrow! A 6 hour solo set, with a few friends. Geck-o, Sjammienators, Pavo, and Aversion. A wicked night out, if you want to see this legend there. I sadly can't be there, I am limited when it comes to movement, which is really a nuisance, So to be on the dancefloor not moving isn't really my cup of tea. Maybe next time, Thera. It was actually last year I saw this legend for the last time, at GPF's event, still danced with a broken and messed up kidney. But 2020 started with me having only one, and not two. Maybe 2021 I get the chance to see Thera? For his event he made two promo mixes, and I only found the second one on my timeline. So if you want more, search for more. But for now, let's focus on this second mix, which contains the early Hardstyle records, most of you all have forgotten about. The classic gems, the ultimate early Hardstyle anthems. A trip down memory lane. The glorious years. It was pure and raw. And awesome too! Check out the tracklist. If you don't fap after, something's wrong with you. (fappen is a word only Dutch and Flemish people would understand). 01. Nishina - Further Closer 02. Tankis & Savietto - Antea (F8T Mix) 03. Hennes & Cold - Born Blind 04. Brain Ovulation - Kicks And Bass (Acid Step Mix) 05. DJ Vortex & Arpa's Dream - Incoming (Arome Remix) 06. Waveliner vs Rude - The Anthem 07. Hunter - The Hammer (Techno Mix) 08. Jendrik De Ruvo - Can I Get A Witness (LaCargo Remix) 09. Donkey Rollers - The Sound Of The Beast (Original Mix) 10. Brennan & Heart - Come Out 11. K-Traxx - Noise Tool (Technoboy Remix) 12. Meredith - Which Way To Go (Brennan & Heart Style Mix) 13. The Beholder feat Max & Mike - Beating Of The Drumz 14. Donkey Rollers - Motherfuck (DJ Zany Remix) 15. Brennan & Heart - Backstabbing (Re-appearance) 16. Ultra Sonic - Ultrabass 17. Kai Tracid - Trance And Acid (Derb Remix) 18. Walt - What U Get 19. Global Cee - Burnin' (Kan Cold Remix) 20. Brennan & Heart - Acid Revenge 21. Space Invaders - Do The Freak 22. Megaphone - Waveform 23. Barthezz - On The Move (Dumonde Remix) Wow. Chill factor throughout this mix. This takes me back to the early 2000s, when Hardstyle and Hard Trance dominated the dancefloors. Good years. But even I have moved these excellent tunes into the back of my mind. And that's the stupidest thing I've ever done. The early Hardstyle sound is just so God damnit perfect. The tunes selected by Thera remind me of the Bitte Ein Beat years. Whatever happened to Bitte Ein Beat? Or more to the point: what happened to the early sound? Why did it fade away into obscurity? You cannot just listen to Thera's mix and feel nothing? Nostalgia is what I'm experiencing now. I remember purchasing so many CDs during the early 2000s. I've spent a few grand over those years on compilations. I was hooked. Thera's selection is great. Good records. A sound that has been moved aside by the present day Hardstyle, but if I could, I would go back into time and experience it once more. The best of the best, seriously. Best record of Thera's mix? 'Trance And Acid' by Kai Tracid, remixed by Derb. What a genuine classic! Hard Trance. Now that's pornographic music. Full of heart and soul. Can't get more real than this sound. I hope Thera and his mates are having a wicked time tomorrow. I wish I could be there, but I kidney you not, I can't. Rave safe everyone! I'll be back on the dancefloors soon. - TCD Top 5 23-01-2020
I know, I know, I shouldn't be even typing this top 5. From today onwards I will be offline for a few days/weeks due to pending surgery. Not going to bore you with any details, but it's expected, and well overdue. Today is an important day, so let's finish the reviewing bit on a high note. A top 5 you weren't expecting from me, with a few plot twists you did not expect. A bit like Midsommer Murder, but better. What I mean by plot twists, is that I've added records that have Dutch spoken lyrics in here. And you all know that I normally detest that. Not a fan of my own mother tongue. It's not a sexy language, like French is, or Italian. But yesterday I got into the Dutch vibe, and cannot be taken out of it. So how did that happen? I went onto Youtube and listened to Sound Rush's set again from last year's X-Qlusive Holland. And obviously, it being focussed on the Netherlands, contained shit loads of Dutch spoken lyric songs in here. But here's the twist: not all records of this top 5 have Dutch lyrics. See what I've done here? Twist after twist. A proper mindfuck. Here's my top 5 of 23-01-2020. When I still had 2 kidneys when I woke up. See you guys and girls later! Enjoy my top 5 as much as I have! 01. Atmozfears & Soud Rush - Together As One (2019) 02. Sound Rush feat Frans Duijts - Gezelligheid Kent Geen Spijt (X-Qlusive Holland 2019 Anthem) 03. Topmodelz - Your Love (Atmozfears & Sound Rush Remix) (2019) 04. Abel - Onderweg (Sound Rush & RVB Remix) (2016) 05. Marco Borsato - Dromen Zijn Bedrog (Sound Rush X-Qlusive Holland Remix) (2019) And as a side note: these are all taken from Soundcloud, not from the original producer/remixer. Please do support your artists, and purchase the records via the usual channels. Do not RIP or steal music. This is just a list of records, not to force anyone to do anything dodgy. This is just to remind you all these records excist. Purchase them via the cool channels. Artists do need our support.
- M@rt!n-J - Best Of Slammin Vinyl Hardcore Heaven Vol.3 (2020)
I made a fool out of myself. Which I regularly do. But yesterday I was speaking to M@rt!n-J, and asked him if he'd also done a volume 1 and volume 2 dedication mix of the succesful Hardcore Heaven CD collection, and he reminded me that he did those, and I reviewed them already! I couldn't remember if I did those, and he kindly sent me printscreens of the reviews. What an absolute idiot. I am sorry Martin. Truly am. Shouldn't have said a single thing. I looked like a plonker. Idiot. Anyway, before I delve into my personal history and explore every moment I had been an idiot, let's talk about the third mix in this series. As you've read in previous reviews (which I've forgotten about obviously), Hardcore Heaven released 4 albums back in the early 00s, and I did collect them all. I remember that I had to purchase them via my local CD store, and one of the CDs had to come all the way from Australia, because the ones in the UK were sold out. Did cost me a few pennies, but it was worth it. Unless it was the fourth instalment, which I did not like. The only album out of the whole collection which I found the least interesting. The best? The second one. Brilliantly mixed, and awesome records. For a strange reason I cannot remember if I liked the third instalment. I did like the beautiful and gorgeous looking lady on the front. Those were the days: when they had pretty raving girls on the cover. I liked that. Nowadays we can't do that anymore. But it was part of our culture. The music from the beginning and mid 00s was good. But still, was the third instalment any good? Well, Martin a.k.a. M@rt!n-J is about to show us his favourite records of this album, crammed into his mix. This 80 minute long mix is going to be interesting. The good ol' UK Hardcore sound. Where has it gone? 01. Impact & Resist - Someday (Styles & Breeze Mix) 02. Sy & Unknown - Break The Spell (Original Mix) 03. DJ Kurt - Posse & Crew (Original Mix) 04. Sy & Unknown feat Lou Lou - Caught Up In Your Love (Original Mix) 05. Gammer - Moving To This 06. Ian Van Dahl - Inspiration (Re-Con Remix) 07. Breeze - Let's Fly (Sy & Unknown Remix) 08. Ham - Clubheads (Bang The Drum) (Original Mix) 09. Brisk & Ham - I've Got A Feeling (Original Mix) 10. Joey Riot feat Angel Eyez - Don't Make Me Wait (Gammer Mix) 11. Brisk & Vagabond - Hit The Deck (Ham Mix) 12. Vagabond feat MC Casper - Flowing Free (Original Mix) 13. Gammer - Rip Roar 14. D.L.S. - Freefall (Original Mix) 15. Kevin Energy & K Complex - Hands Up (Original Mix) 16. Kevin Energy vs Marc Smith - That's The Hardcore (AMS Remix) 17. Brisk & Vagabond - Funky Joint (Original Mix) 18. Future Society - What The Hood Made Me Just to point out one little detail that you might have missed: this is a redux. He has redone the mix, because he wasn't happy with the finished result. He listened to his own mix, and thought ''I can improve that''. Or maybe he thought it sounded shit. So this isn't the first edition of his mix. But that shows dedication. He's a perfectionist, M@rt!n-J is. And I can't judge if the first version was crap or not: I liked the mix on Soundcloud, as a reminder of me needing to listen to it. But before I had the chance, he already uploaded the second version. I have to say that Martin has selected the finest records from this instalment. A very good mix is the end result. Good quality mixing skills. I wonder what was so bad about the previous version. Must have been very small for us normal human being. But he's picky, as I am, and if it's not picture perfect, there's no point in accepting the mix. Only credit for the third instalment in this mix series. I will be expecting a new, fourth edition, in the near future. So if Martin is kind enough to let me know, I won't reply like an absolute anus. Apologies M@rt!n-J, but at least I've got an excuse: you are on fire. The amount of mixes you make is ridicilous. But this is yet another amazing mix. Best record? When Gammer was on fire! 'Rip Roar'. And 'Flowing Free' by Vagabond feat MC Casper! Beast of a track. - Mark Archer FABRICLIVE x Stanton Sessions Promo Mix (2020)
Damn, I am late. This party happened yesterday, and I'm writing this review right now. the 18th. How dumb am I? Most of the ravers who attended this event are probably still knocked the fuck out on their beds, or sofas. And I'm sitting here, wide awake, writing this review about a promo mix for an event which happened last night. The lifestyle of the online bloggers, eh? Am I jealous of everyone who went to this? Hell yeah. Mark Archer is a living legend. Proof that the older you get, the more you are into the early Rave music. Mark Archer has been in the game for more than 30 years. Bloody Nora, think about that! If you think that Mark might retire soon, you are wrong. Oh so wrong. This man has still got the spark in him, and with events like the one yesterday, he's still a huge headliner, and won't stop. He's part of our raving culture, and has to teach the youngsters how partying was done in the 90s, and make sure that the older generation remembers the tunes from the glorious days. For this event he made this promo mix, which contains only the finest oldskool Rave anthems. Hand selected by the Godfather of Vicks, you know that he's going to take you on a journey. A journey through the classics of back in the days. The anthems that made the whistle crew come alive, and make us all dance like monkeys on acid. Only one Altern 8 record in here, but don't worry, my bet is that he played a few of his own stuff last night. Why didn't I go? I feel extremely jealous now. Please leave a comment, telling me what kind of awesome party I have missed. 01. Altern 8 - Infiltrate 202 02. Bizarre Inc - Playing With Knives 03. Quadrophonia - Quadrophonia 04. Cybersonik - Technarcy 05. Outlander - Vamp 06. The Prodigy - Charly 07. 2 Bad Mice - Bombscare 08. Rhythm Quest - Closer 09. Baby D - Let Me Be Your Fantasy 10. Awesome 3 - Don't Go 11. Urban Hype - I Feel The Heat 12. Liquid - Sweet Harmony 13. Shades Of Rhythm - Sound Of Eden 14. Circa '91 - Can You Feel Me 15. Sy Kick - Nasty (Remix) 16. NRG - The Real Hardcore 17. Renegade - Terrorist 18. Omni Trio - Renegade Snares (Foul Play Remix) 19. Q Project - Champion Sound (Alliance Remix) 20. Origin Unknown - Valley Of The Shadows 21. Shy FX & UK Apachi - Orignal Nuttah 22. Krome & Time - Ganja Man To rub it in even more, this mix is free to download! Will you Adam and Eve it? It's like I had to go to this event, but only got myself to blame. Damn it. But anyway, how tragic as it might sound, I hope Mark and his fans had a brilliant night. Mark, if you are reading this, you are up way too early. Go back to bed, and recover! It's not just the early Rave music you are getting, but also a bit of the early Drum and Bass. This mix has got everything! It's an emotional rollercoaster for the die hard raver. This is what made the 90s so special, and will be in every raver's mind for decades to come. The hippies had the 60s, we have the 90s. The best years of our lives. What can I say that could make the mix even better, or even leave a dent on it? Well, nothing. This mix is as good as you would expect it to be. It's made by friggin' Mark Archer, the Godfather! The ledge! The man behind the mask. He knows a thing or two about rave, so it's obvious that this mix is as good as you would expect it to be. Best record? Cybersonik's 'Technarchy'. One of the first rave anthems I've ever come across. Definate dancefloor shaker. Mark's mix is tight. Dope. As dope as Vicks. Love it. Watch ya bassbins, I'm telling ya! - GTA Digital Podcast #22, Mixed By Gary The Apprentice (2020)
Techno. A style I should listen to more often, but sadly I don't find the time. Nor do I find many of them on my Soundcloud timeline. And that's because I'm not actively looking for any mixes. For that, I do apologize. I should embrace Techno music a lot more, because it has shaped my youth, and made me love everything harder styles related. Techno was my first love, if truth be told. And it has given us so much over the years. A constant source of dark materials, and never changing from its source material. Techno 4 life. So why I am I apologising, when I am about to review a Techno mix? Well, I do not know. I am full of mystery. But anyway, let's talk about the mix. This is a digital podcast series, called the GTA Digital Podcast, and the 22nd instalment has been mixed by Gary The Apprentice. What a name, never seen a DJ name like that before. Nor have I seen his name before. But I saw the tags he used for this mix, which were Hard Techno, Schranz, Industrial Techno, and of course Techno. And if you have Schranz as one of the tags on your mix, I am immediately drawn to it. I love a bit of Schranz, me. If you are interested in these mixes, you can find them on Fnoob Techno Radio. Another thing I've never seen or heard before. My God, have I been living underneath a rock the last couple of years? Here's the tracklist for you die hard Techno lovers! 01. Anthropophagus - Minimized 02. Boris S - Bondage 03. Kaoz - Bustenhalter 04. Matt M Maddox - Mighty Tool 05. Frank Kvitta & Robert Natus - First Contact 06. Sven Wittekind - Wrong Turn 07. Robert Natus & Arkus P - Hermoso (Hard Version) 08. Alex Calver - Hostel 09. Alex TB - Bifucacao 10. Alex Calver vs Traced & The Mexican - From The Darkside 11. Tobias Luke a.k.a. O.B.I. - Seek And Destroy 12. Sven Wittekind - Superpimp 13. Robert Natus - Kidding? No! 14. Arkus P - My Real Love 15. Teknicity - Die 16. Arkus P - Crash 17. Wortex - Braindamage Scream 18. DJ Hamy - Evil Foreboding 19. Jason Little - Posed To Death 20. Rude Awakening vs DJ Amok - Electronic Rod (Waldhaus Remix) It's nice to see a few names in Gary's mix which I recognise. Like Boris S, Sven Wittekind, Rude Awakening, Frank Kvitta, and well, those were the names I do recognise. All the others are new to me, so this could be a nice introduction into their musical gift to the world. And boy, this 1 hour and 1 second long mix does just that. Don't expect any soft or mellow Techno, only the finest and roughest Techno is played by Gary The Apprentice. The hour has flown by very quickly, and I've enjoyed every second of it. Of course, being a Techno lover since 1993, it has rekindled my love for the harder Techno sound, and I am now following GTA Digital on Soundcloud. I need more Techno. And I do mean it. Towards the end of the mix it all goes even harder and rougher. I wasn't expecting that, seeing as the beginning and mid section of this mix was already hard, but it can even go faster and rougher. I really liked it. And the last record, remixed by Waldhaus, is exactly what I needed to hear right now. Why sleep, when you can hear this? Gary The Apprentice, you've gained a fan. I really enjoyed this Hard Techno set. More of this please. MORE! - 30 Minutes of Early Hardcore | Tracks from 1992 - 1999 | Mix 092 | By DJ Raving Madness (2020)
Due to the high demand of Early Hardcore, Soundcloud is filled with many excellent mixes. Or maybe my filter set for this is just wrong, but I'm not really that fussed. I do like a bit of the early stuff, and the latest mix by Raving Madness is really packed with so many obscure and unknown anthems, we do need more mixes like this one. For his latest instalment, he has selected records from the early years, ranging from 1992 until 1999, so really early stuff. Are you getting excited yet? I know I am. I do love a bit of Hardcore, me. And I do know all the well known anthems. My brain sadly filters out the obscure records, or I've not heard them before because they are that odd and obscure, but when in 2020 you find a mix full of forgotten anthems, I can't help myself, and a boner is the result of this 32 minute mix. A few of the records selected I do know, so it's not that I'm Hardcore illiterate. It's just that more than 50% of these anthems have never been penetrating my ears, and I feel sad for missing them. I think that those I do know of, are underrated. And they definately deserve a bigger stage. Yes, we are all exhausted, hearing those 'classic' anthems, but it's these classics that Raving Madness has selected I am ruling for. These are records that take me back to the 90s more than ever. The more underground and obscure, the better. 01. Rob Gee - Jersey Guido 02. Rotterdam Termination Source - Poing (Jump A Little Higher) 03. The Carpenter - Jump Off The Fucking Roof 04. Bass-D & King Matthew - Take Me Higher (Gizmo Remix) 05. Masoko Solo - Pessa Pessa (E-Rick & Tactic Remix) 06. Tony Salmonelli & Pino D'Ambini - Class Axion Take 3 07. Vanugenth The 5th - Here We Go Again 08. Ferocious - Cocaine 09. Perpetrator - To Da Base 10. Pagan - Mister Mister Scarface Of course, the biggest hit has to be 'Here We Go Again'. This is the one that still gets the most airtime of all these 10 records. And I do like the record, don't get me wrong but the other 9 are just so appealing. So attractive. So sexy. So unique. Why don't we see these records more in mixes? This was the era when Happy and normal Hardcore blended together nicely, and there was no hatred or anger about it. Obviously now we distinguish each sound, but back in the 90s (prior to 1996) it was all Hardcore. We put it in boxes, and ruined it. The happy sound was awesome. Which brings me to my next point: best record.... 'Take Me Higher' by Bass-D & King Matthew, remixed by Gizmo. What a slammer. But even the remixed version of 'Pessa Pessa' is excellent. This one I've never heard before, and I DO love a bit of E-Rick & Tactic. Lovely blend of happy and hard Hardcore. Or what about the bass in 'Mister Mister Scarface'? Boy, they don't make records like these anymore. Shame. A wicked mix. Loved it. Excellent stuff, Raving Madness. I look forward to your next mix! More obscure and sexy records please. But not the Rob Gee back catalogue. Boy, that intro was dreadful. Let us all just forget about this record, and pretend it never happened. - 1998 to 2004 (Mostly) Under The Radar UK Hardcore (2020)
The other day I found this mix, which contains obscure and mostly forgotten about underground UK Hardcore anthems. And truth be told, a quick glance at the tracklist shows indeed records I've never seen before, nor heard before.Well, maybe one or two or the records selected by DJ Ectomorph have been heard by myself, but the majority of records are seriously underground records. My UK Hardcore collection is quite large (if I may say so), but these records I've not come across before. But also, I started listening to it since early 2002, so I've missed out on a lot. When you find a mix with records like these ones, you are immediately drawn to it. Don't you just love it to hear something new every day, even though the records are 20+ years old? That's the reason why I review: 'new' music is always exciting. Gives me enough reasons to continue exploring this scene, and others too. Ectomorph made this mix, and he already mentioned that there might be a few tiny errors in here, but he still kept it as it is, on Soundcloud, because it shows that it's raw. And heartfelt. That's nice. Mixing from vinyl is tricky, especially when no-one does it anymore, but it's still cool though. The tracklist. Yes, you've been dying to see that since I mentioned the words 'obscure' and 'UK Hardcore'. Here it is: 01. Brisk - Set Free 02. Sy & Unknown - Command Your Soul 03. Interstate - Basic Nature 04. Juicy Cuts - Juicy Cuts Volume 7 05. Trixxy - Sunrise 06. Q-Tex - The First Parable 07. Kevin Energy - In Deep Trouble 08. Sy & Unknown - A Warped Optimism 09. Scott Brown - Return To Elysium 10. Interstate - Move Your Body 11. Sy & Unknown - Aural Illusion 12. Devastate, Menis & Dair - Deep Down Under 13. Sy & Unknown - Gonna Get Ya (Sy & Unknown Remix) 14. Scott Brown - Definition Of A Bad Boy 15. G-Spencer & Gammer - Space Exploration 16. DJ Kambel - No Jokin (Original Mix) 17. DJ Hooligan & The Preacher - Crackman 18. Fade & Dair - Burning NRG 19. Q-Tex - Let The Bass GO 20. The Vampire - Total XTC (4 The Floor Mix) 21. Interstate - Hardcore Hustler 22. Breeze & Styles - Future Set 23. Kevin Energy - Crescendos Of Ecstacy (Original Hard Trance Mix) Wow. This is truly a collection of unknown records! You've got to remember that this kind of music wasn't big at all outside of the UK, so for me to find it, is a genuinely amazing thing. Not many Dutch people do appreciate it, sadly. But maybe they will after hearing this mix? Let's hope so. The mix is filled with so many wicked anthems, it instantly should take the raving communtiy back to the golden years of UK Hardcore. 1998 to 2004 were good years. It paved the way for the next generation Hardcore fanatics, and the tunes from these years are still seen as classics. Ectomorph's selection obviously contains the more underground anthems, but play them at any rave in 2020, and everyone will loose their freaking minds! The funny thing is that I started to like UK Hardcore from 2002 onwards, so I'm more into the newer sounding UK Hardcore. I still appreciate the older sound, but prefer the newer sound. But it's still nice to hear the origins of the sound, and the artists that made the sound so appealing. A good set, with a few minor mistakes. But with some excellent anthems. What else could you ask for? Go and download this for free now, and take a trip back into time, 16+ years ago. Best record? Well, it's a Q-Tex's record. Were you surprised? 'Let The Bass Go'. What an anthem! - Headhunterz - HARD with STYLE Episode 88: Yearmix 2019
I am a fan of Headhunterz. We all know that. Never had the opportunity to see him perform live, but over the years I've collected a huge collection of his music, and his mixes on Soundcloud are played over and over again and again. And I'm not the only one who is a huge fan of Headhunterz: many thousands of fans he's got all over the world. And he reached a good position on the DJ Mag Top 100 list last year, which is going to be the last time he's on this list. Currently he's on a break and I'm guessing that he needs this short break to get everything back on track again. He deserves it. Take as long as you need, mr Heady. So for this year's Year mix he wasn't the one behind the decks, but Hypnose. Sorry to say that I do not have a clue who he/she is, but it's obviously a big decision. A big chance. This will obviously become a well listened to episode of the already succesfull Hard With Style series, seeing as we are all yearmix fanatics. And this hour and 40 minute long mix has got the finest records from last year. The mix shows us all that 2019 was an excellent year for Hardstyle, and I've really enjoyed what was released throughout the year. Hypnose's mix is really interesting, and contains a lot of records which are really hot. Yes, 2019 was an excellent and truly remarkable year for Hardstyle. And also for Headhunterz, who made some amazing records. Yes, he made the most memorable tunes, those that stick in your head for days. I love them. Here's the tracklist for you Hardstyle fanatics: 00. HARD with STYLE Intro 01. Headhunterz - Orange Heart 02. Wildstylez & Noisecontrollers - 200 Dreams 03. Crypton & Damian Ray - One Way Up 50. The Prophet - Wanna Play? 51. Sefa - One Tribe (Defqon.1 Anthem 2019) This is really an amazing tracklist, with a lot of truly astonishing records. Over the years my love for Hardstyle has been up and down, but 2019 was for me the best year. A lot of melodic anthems that truly moved the raving community even harder, yet it took us into new dimensions we've not been to before. Yes, the music has become slightly harder, but oh so good. I've been listening to a lot of mixes throughout last year, and all have the same thing in common: the music was good. Good in the sense that it never disappointed me. And I love the fact that the genre is slowely changing its direction, by doing things not seen before. Heady working with the female singer from Kosheen, Sub Zero Project with Christina Novelli, etc. It's a good progression. The scene deserves it, and needs more of these projects. Last year was a good year, not only for Headhunterz, but also for KELTEK, Sound Rush, Wildstylez, Noisecontrollers, and many more. I've fallen in love with whatever they release, but truth be told, it's Headhunterz's producing skills that made me fall in love with Hardstyle even more. He just hits the nail on the head. But those are not the best records in this mix. Funnily enough, it's not a Hardstyle record that blew my mind. It's a record by Talon, which is called 'Blow Me Off'. Filth, freaking filth! That's what this is! A very solid year mix by Hypnose. Again, for those that cannot read, it's not made by Headhunterz, but by Hypnose. And he/she should be proud of the outcome: a very solid mix. I've got no negative comments to provide! Only love for this mix! A note to Heady: take your time mate. Make sure you rest enough to become even more powerful when you do return. We can wait. - Bass-D - Thundermag-Mix (2016)
I have reviewed this mix. Haven't I? I am not sure. Normally every mix I review gets a like on Soundcloud, but it turns out this one hasn't received one from me, which is odd. Strange, to say the least. So I'm guessing that I might have forgotten to like it, when it was released back in 2016, to commemorate the upcoming event Thunderdome. It has obviously already happened, so no point in me talking about how amazing it was bla bla bla. There's no point in doing that. Let's therefore talk about the mix, made by Bass-D. He's a legend, Bass-D. He's made a lot of excellent megamixes over the years, and during the 90s he was alongside King Matthew, and dominated the scene. He's made a lot of records over the years, and some have turned into all time classics. You will find a few of them in here, but also a lot of records taken from Thunderdome 1 to whatever number it was around 2016. I've lost track on how many they have actually released. I stopped buying them after 27, so I'm guessing it must be around that number? On Soundcloud you will find the tracklist including the numbers of each Thunderdome behind each track, where they were originally from. If I'm correct, this mix was also to celebrate the brief return of the legendary Thunder Magazine. I wasn't a member/subscriber of it, but I did buy them occasionally. So I do know of its existence. Don't have any of the original magazines, but only the collection one, released around 1999, which had images of parties over the years. A good trip down memory lane for me. But this mix is the same. A trip to my youth. And this is one of the reasons why I will never grow old, or grow up. Hardcore is always part of me, and it has been a part of me since 1993. I will always be the 10 year old boy, dancing in his bedroom, driving his parents mad. Check out this tracklist, if you haven't already! 01. Bass-D & King Matthew - The Thunder Anthem ('96) (Intro) 02. E-Man - Bass Machine 03. Promo & Catscan - Midnight Impact 04. Sim - Simbiosis 05. Distortion & MC Raw vs Bass-D & King Matthew - Raveworld 06. Catscan - The Agency 07. Headbanger - Sweet Dreams You Bastard 08. Base Alert - Zoo 09. Omar Santana & The Prophet - Old To Da New (The Prophet Mix) 10. Thunderball - Bonzai Channel One 11. Promo - Brother Of Conflict 12. Bass-D & King Matthew - Nuclear Hardcore 13. Tommyknocker - The Revolution 14. The Masochist - No Newstyle (Buzz Fuzz Remix) 15. Bertocucci Feranzano - XTC Love 16. Wayward - Hardcore Hijacked Me 17. Evil Activities vs Panic & MC Alee - Never Fall Asleep 18. Mad Dog - Welcome Down 19. Promo - Fuck Them Followers 20. Day-Mar - Embrace The Night 21. Knightvision - Who Is It 22. Predator - Mind Of A Lunatic 23. Square Dimensione - Brand New Dance 24. Too Fast For Mellow - We Gonna Get This Place 25. Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - DJ Fuck 26. Promo - Cold As Stone 27. Chosen Few - Name Of The DJ (Buzz Fuzz Remix) 28. 3 Steps Ahead - Drop It 29. Bertocucci Feranzano - E-Motion (Buzz Fuzz Mix) 30. The Prophet - Dominatin' 31. F. Salee - The End Of The Beginning 32. Rob Gee - Ecstacy You Got What I Need 33. 3 Steps Ahead - Hakkuh 34. Rotterdam Terror Corps - Sound Of Madness See, I told you that you were going on a trip down memory lane. But don't worry: you've probably also spotted the fact that some of these records aren't that old. Yes, some are from the early Thunderdome's, but also a few recent records. A nice mash of literally all the Thunderdomes released over the years. Of course Bass-D does not need an introduction. You do know him from the wicked Thunderdome years, or even from the Masters Of Hardcore years. You are aware of who he is, and what he's capable of. And this mix proves yet again why he's a true mix master. An hour and a half of pure Thunderdome madness. Not one of his ultimate megamixes, where he crammed in 1276423 records in 20 minutes, but still a descent megamix. I've got absolutely no negative comments regarding the mixing qualities of Bass-D. They are tight as fuck. Obviously they only negative feedback I can give relates to the records selected. Yeah, you can't please us all. The only record I can say has diminished in quality over the years is Rob Gee's record. I used to hear this at least once a day, now I can't stand it anymore. Once a year will suffice me. But which is my favourite? Well, I can't pick. Can you? See the predicament I am in? So many great anthems, old and new. So fuck it, 33 amazing records. Good choice, mr Bass-D, good choice. Excellent mix. It might be three/four years old, but it still packs a punch. Destroying eardrums and speakers all over the world. And that's the power behind Thunderdome. And as we all said in the 90s: Hardcore 4 Life. Never grow old, people. Embrace the gabber inside of you, and let it out! - BlvckVox x Stormrazor - Stormvox Vol 1 (2019)
A new mix was brought to my attention by ViperStar, the DJ and producer from the far East. He's known for making and mixing UK Hardcore music, but his new alter ego Stormrazor has gone down a different path. Hardstyle, a new venture for ViperStar. So don't worry if you are unfamiliar with this name: it's just ViperStar's new DJ persona. And for this mix he decided to ask the help of BlvckVox. And I've tried to figure out how to say his name. Mysterious name. As usual, I've asked them if they could provide me with a tracklist. I'm quite annoying when it comes to that, but mixes without a tracklist will normally not make it onto this glorious website. Thanks to Stormrazor and Blvckvox to compose it, and I can share it with you. But what is in this mix? Well, Hardstyle focussed music. You weren't expecting that, if truth be told. But that's exactly what you are getting. And it's a weird and yet diverse tracklist. Worth checking out! 01. Timmy Trumpet & Alok - Metaphor (Twisted Melodiez x N3bula x Balluk Bootleg) 02. DJ Isaac - Down With Me 03. TNT & Sound Rush - Right Now 04. Steve Hill, Technikal & Francesco Zeta - Public Enemy 05. Audiofreq - Timebomb (Artix Reverse Bass Edit) 06. RiraN - Full Control 07. The Pitcher - Pump It Loud (Frequencerz Remix) 08. DJ Ruthless & Crude Intentions & GLDY LX - Fire Hazard 09. Dr Phunk - The Drums 10. Dany BPM - Bass Louder 11. Dr Rude - Bring It 12. Equalizer - This Is My Bassline (NOLEJ Remix) 13. Gammer - THE DROP (CaZ Hardstyle Edit) 14. Gammer - Needed U (XVLA Remix) 15. The Prodigy - Voodoo People (Inquisitive Hard Psy Remix) 16. Henrik Underwood & MAISHI - MKULTRA 17. 4B & Teez - Whistle (ATTAQ Remix) 18. Yellow Claw - Danger Days (ATTAQ Hardpsy Remix) 19. Wuki & Ape Drums - Bed Squeak (ATTAQ Hard Remix) 20. Snavs & Yellow Claw - Jungle Fever (Equalizer Remix) 21. K3V - Hanging (Shinsei Hardpsy Remix) 22. Darren Styles - Party Don't Stop (Tim Lock Bootleg) 23. Darren Styles, Gammer & Dougal - Burning Up 24. S3RL feat Harri Rush & Krystal - Fire 25. Orbit1 - The Realm 26. Alex Bassjunkie & Riche - Whore! 27. S3RL - The Wilhelm Scream (Gabber Mix) 28. Atmozfears & LXCPR - Live Loud (Decibel Outdoor 2019 Hardcore Edit) Would I consider this to be a Hardstyle mix? If I'm honest, I would say no. This is more a Freestyle mix. If you don't know what that means, Google it. But what it basically means is a set with whatever you fancy. Not just bound to one style or genre. Everything. Free to play whatever you like. And as you can see by looking at the tracklist, this has got everything. An interesting mix. A lot of good anthems. This keeps the party going, if truth be told. BlvckVox and Stormrazor's mix is interesting. A different approach to the 'Hardstyle' mixes you can find on Soundcloud. A plethora of mixes are standard, but this one isn't. And it's nice to see a mix of EDM related music with a bit of UK Hardcore. Obviously ViperStar had to add a few records in here. It's a different approach, and I'm not used to it as much. Not a fan of too much cheese in a set. Yes, sometimes you need to keep thing light and happy, but when it becomes too much, it becomes a bit too much. I'm not a fan of S3RL, or the cheesy EDM sound which dominates the charts. But that's just me. You can have a different opinion, and you might like it. Good for you! I still listened to this and enjoyed it. Need to get my head around the weird sounds that are everywhere nowadays, but 2020 has only just started, so I've got plenty of time to work on it. A good set by this new duo. Give it a go, and you might like it a lot! Ps. you can download this for free, but my internet is playing up, and it won't. - 90's Hardcore Vinyl Mix Vol 3 #EarlyHardcore (2018)
I'm on an oldskool trip right now. The other day I was listening to two Millennium Hardcore mixes, made by both DJ Promo and Waxweazle, and now it's time to go back in time, even further back, to the 90s. As we've seen before, Mr Scott has been uploading early Hardcore mixes, and this third instalment captures a specific sound that came out during the 90s. In this mix you can find Dutch, English and Scottish Hardcore records, released on labels such as Master Maximum Records, Evolution Records, Screwdriver Records, Rotterdam Records, and more. With mixes like these ones you will always find records so obscure, you never even heard them before. This mix contains a lot of those. I consider myself a huge Scott Brown fan, but I haven't even heard half of what he has released on his label Evolution Records. The good thing about this sound, is that it's unique. It's not copied anymore, or sadly present anymore, but it makes the music sound so 90s. Proper early Hardcore vibes throughout this mix. The tracklist is a beauty. Worth checking out! 01. Genaside - Fuck You 02. Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - Live In London 03. E-Rick & Tactic - What The Fuck (Scott Brown Mix) 04. Visa - Revenge 05. Sub Source - The Hardcore Anthem 06. Scott Brown - Slipstream 07. Q-Tex - Equazion Part 4 08. Bass-D & King Matthew - Get Dumb 09. Mindcontroller - Ohh God Damned I'm Great 10. DJ Paul - Boom Boom 11. Forbes & Cyclone - Faze 12. Scott Brown - Ready For War 13. Lords Of Hardcore - Work That Sukka 14. Bass Reaction - Technophobia 15. DJ Dell & Scott Brown - Inferno (Scott Brown Mix) 16. Marc Smith - Pump Up The Noize 17. DJ Alex - Say What? 18. King Dale - Fuck Face 19. Sub Source - Into Euphoria 20. Forbes & Cyclone - Full Force He's got some amazing records in this hour long mix! I love these mixes, they are nice and diverse. And yet still maintain a consistency throughout. There's a specific sound you will hear from the first to the last second that we are all familiar with. This sound, I miss dearly. How did I find this mix? Well, it happened by accident. I was looking for 'Full Force' on Soundcloud, because it's an underrated Happy Hardcore classic. And the first mix that appeared with this, was Mr Scott's 90s mix. Hence why I listened to it, and why I'm writing about it. This mix contains a lot of excellent tunes, like 'Faze', 'Full Force', 'Equazion Part 4', 'Fuck You', and the list continues. I loved every second of this mix, but not 'Get Dumb' by Bass-D and King Matthew. Not a brilliant record if truth be told. But which record is the best? Well, 'Pump Up The Noize' is my favourite. Yes, it's not the record that got me into this mix in the first place, but it's probably Marc Smith's finest record ever. A legendary dancefloor anthem. You can download this mix, it's all for free. - We've Still Got The Stamina [Records] (Round Two!) (2020)
The year has only started 4 days ago, and M@rt!n-J has already uploaded a brand new mix. Will he ever stop? Does he ever take a break? It appears that he doesn't. What a machine he is. And this time, he decided to make yet another Stamina Records' focussed mix, with tracks from the finest Freeform label out there. And seeing as you are a regular to this page (for which, I thank you), you all know that I'm a huge fan of this label, and consider it to be the finest label to release Freeform music. Do you think I am right, or wrong? Whatever you think of my opinion, it truly doesn't matter. What you can underline is the fact that this label has been responsible for the baddest and wickedest (is that even a word?) records. They have released the finest and most beautiful Freeform songs ever, and they keep on pushing the music forward. Freeform and this label deserves so much more recognition, and hopefully with this mix it does get more recognition. It's about 52 minutes long, with 13 of Stamina's finest records. If you have missed the first instalment of this mix series, don't worry: just check M@rt!n-J's Soundcloud page (click here) and search for it yourself! Or just check this awesome website (mine of course) for the previous review. But for now, let me show you the tracklist! 01. CLSM - Gravity Wave (Intro Mix) 02. Transcend - Never Be The Same 03. A.B feat Sarah - The Future Of Sound 04. Transcend - Artificial (Gammer Remix) 05. A.B - Salvation 06. A.B - Escapia (Audio Warfare Remix) 07. Douglas & Transcend - GTFO 08. Kounta Kulture feat Zealous - Falling Skies 09. A.B - Where Art Thou Wandring Fish 10. Douglas - Boys Will Be 11. Douglas - Waking Up 12. Douglas - Social Injustice 13. A.B vs K-Wire - Twisted Wow. An epic , nearly hour long mix. Fantastic mix by M@rt!n-J. He's done it again, and this time it has given me more goosebumps than ever before! Why? Because he has used a few Douglas records. And he's one of my favourite Freeform producers. I wonder what has happened to him, music wise he's been very quiet? Anyone know if he has released music at all recently? I really liked his music. Really talented producer. And now I've obviously have to mention my favourite record, and it's no surprise that it's one of Douglas' records. 'Social Injustice'. What a tremendous build up. When it hits you, it hits you like Thor's hammer. The force behind this record is just unbelievable! The mix is tight. Few small errors. But track wise, really stunning. I hope M@rt!n-J keeps on releasing mixes forever. He's our constant source of excellent Freeform/UK Hardcore music. Probably TCD's most favourite Soundcloud channel. Where else can you find all these awesome mixes? Only his page contains fire. With this first 2020 mix he has proven himself again to the world that his page should get more followers. And also the fact that Stamina Records is the best Freeform label in the world. Don't tell A.B this, he might be walking around with a huge erection for a week. A free download too! - Waxweazle Easter Bunny Mix (2018)
NYE and Christmas are over, ladies and gentlemen. It's official now. All over the country, Christmas trees are taken down this weekend, and decorations will disappear for 11 months. It's sad, but expected. Now let's focus on other festive periods throughout the year. And one of those happening this year, is Easter. Not that I'm bothered about Easter, but it's still a festive day. And about 1 1/2 years ago, DJ Waxweazle a.k.a. Headbanger made this Hardcore mix, which isn't downloadble sadly, but you can still appreciate it on Mixcloud. If you are thinking that this mix, which is obviously focussed on Hardcore music, contains any Easter bunny related music, you are wrong. Not that there are any Easter-kind of records anywhere on this Earth, like there's music for Xmas. But I'm guessing that there are some weirdos out there who have made Easter Hardcore records, with hopping bunnies and whatever makes Easter Easter. Nope, this mix is just pure Hardcore, no foolish records, just nice Early and Millennium Hardcore. Leave that job to Waxweazle to fulfill. He knows how to do that. And the tracklist does look extremely appealing. An hour and a half of Hardcore. Yesterday I reviewed a DJ Promo Millennium mix, and today it's Waxweazle's mix. 2020's already sounding good to me. But does it look good to you? Well, judge for yourself: here's the tracklist... 01. E-Man - Bass Machine 02. Dr. Macabre - Poltergeist 03. G-Town Madness - Gangsta Trippin 04. Mad-Donna - Frozen (Newstyle Remix) 05. Nightstalkers - Gangershit 06. Rave Creator - A New Mind (Cold Rush Phuture Mix) 07. Mister DJ - Freakin' It 08. Bike - Evil Bike 09. Manga Corps - The Hunter 10. Radical 2 React - Eliminatin' Suckers 11. Digital Boy - Dirty MF 12. Headbanger - Sweet Dreams (You Bastard) 13. Intensive Care - License To Ill 14. Meagashira - Through Inner Core 15. T-Factor - How Many More Are There 16. System 3 - Like A Shot (JDA Remix) 17. Headbanger feat Alee & Ruffian - Headbanger's Theme 18. Hard Creation - Bastard Asshole 19. Scott Brown - Bass Be Louder 20. Rave Creator & The Mover - Atmos-Fear (Catscan Remix) 21. Underground Nation Of Rotterdam - Bitch 22. Square Dimensione - Baddest Muthafucker (Buzz's Anthem Mix) 31. Predator & Wedlock - Roots And Culture 32. Technohead - The Number One Contender 33. Re-Charge - Bring The Rockers (DJ Waxweazle & DJ Berry Remix) 34. S.W.A.T. - The Fly Is Dead (DJ Waxweazle Remix) 35. Waxweazle & Promo - Fixxxed This is a dope tracklist. A lot of his own productions, of course, wouldn't expect anything otherwise. But still a nice and diverse tracklist. And with mixes like these, I always find records that I've not come across before,or heard in a long time. There's an obvious reason for that; a DJ has got more records in his/her collection that the raving community. Would be weird if for example Waxweazle had less records than me. But due to them having a larger collection, they always play records forgotten by most, or never heard before. And I like that. Boy, the amount of cool records in this mix is beyond belief. Seriously have not come across them for years. And I do feel ashamed. But the good thing is, that this takes me back to my childhood. Dancing/raving all night long, listening to cassettes, playing them on my Walkman, with those stupid headphones, which didn't make any sense. I even wore an elastic band around my head, just for the ear pieces to be closer to my ears, for me to hear the bass better. Yes, those were the 90s. And were are now 30 years later. And Hardcore is still going strong. That's obvious though. Waxweazle's mix is dope. A lot of nostalgic records, which puts a smile on our faces. The record that got me moving the most, is Scott Brown's 'Bass Be Louder'. For me the true MoH record that defined the Millennium sound they had. A good mix, with a few small errors. And one of the records Waxweazle has selected is truly not a great one. Sorry Rob, but 'Fixxxed' isn't what I was expecting it to be. Maybe when it was released it sounded cool, but in 2020 it has aged. Not well. Still a wonderful mix. You should definately check it out. - MILLENNIUMMMMM PART 2 (2016)
If there's one person who knows a thing or two about Millennium Hardcore, it has got to be Promo. He's been in the game for God knows how long, but has had a long lasting affect on all us, ravers. He's been our God since he emerged onto the scene, and his highest peak happened around the Millennium. For the younger generation who weren't around: that 's the year 2000. Y2K, anyone? The whole world were concentrating on making the computers work, whilst the raving community just carried out raving. And Promo was at the helm of it all. Don't pretend you don't know the impact his music has had on the scene. Well, OK, he wasn't certainly the only one. There are a shitload of artists who shaped the scene. Promo was one of them, but his music has touched many ravers. And even though he likes to push forward his music, he also acknowledges the fact that it wasn't just him that dominated during the Millennium years. And for that, he made 2 mixes. The first one I reviewed a year or so ago, but never knew that there was a second one. In this mix he crammed as much Millennium records in it as possible. An hour and a half of pure nostalgic Hardcore. Or Gabber. Whatever you would like to call it. It does contain the biggest and the most obscure records, so a nice mash of literally everything with fucking hard and rough beats, basses, and melodies only created by angels. But the BPMs were made by demons. Come on, it was hard. And I fucking love it! The tracklist will give you an erection. Or a moist underpants. Or whatever gets you going. Hard nipples. It will do something to you. But what it also does to you, is increase your heart beat to match the BPMs. I'm sitting here with a smile on my face, and Kleenex tissues ready. My heart is going absolutely mad right now. 01. Tommyknocker - Death By Stereo 02. Meccano Twins - Domin-Hated 03. Catscan - Exploded Vain 04. D.O.C. - Hardcore To The Penis (Promo Remix) 05. Unexist - Attack (Mad Dog Remix) This is definately Hardcore to the penis! My Lord, this is amazing! I've had a wonderful journey back to my childhood, just listening to this hour and a half long mix. The tracklist does look indeed amazing, and as I said, it contained the finest and most well known records, and also records I've not come across before, or heard in a looong time! Trip down memory lane, anyone? Promo knows a thing or two about music, and his mix does indeed contain filth. Hardcore filth. Just what I needed. My journeys to work have been short (that literally never happens), but around an hour at least one way, so that gave me the opportunity to listen to this mix at least 26492 times this week. Oh, I forgot to mention that I also listen to music at work, so Promo has been on my mind constantly this week. And it has been good. It does contain some errors. Well, truth be told, this is a vinyl only mix, so you would expect a few here and there. Sometimes you won't even notice, or even bother, but sometimes it's just a bit too much lol. It's like Promo is too eager to play all the records he wanted to play. Sometimes a let down, but the majority of the mix is still good. Two records are my all time favourites, 'Embrace The Night' put Day-Mar on the map, and on my map too, and 'We Are The Future'. Proper Enzyme Records vibes. Dark, edgy, yet beautiful. Demonic, that's the word I was looking for. All in all a wicked mix. Worth listening to. And also free to download. Double bonus! - Garuda YearMix 2019
Happy 2020! The decade has finally possed, and what a shit decade it was. We've had a lot of ups and downs, but when it comes to music, it's all been positive. We've seen new styles emerge, and some disappear. Some have grown in popularity, some have lost followers. And some just continued on. Steady as she goes. Trance is one of those genres that has slowly moved forward, not making that many changes, which is a good thing. Hence why there's a huge following, and one of the labels that has been pushing Trance music forward, is Garuda. The label, run by Gareth Emery, has been a successful label since 2009, and has given us memorable anthems. And 2019 has been a successful year for them too! To celebrate the year gone by, they have uploaded this 50 minute long year mix, containing the finest Trance anthems of 2019. And also a few harder tracks, which I'll talk about later. But for now, let's delve into the tracklist, and get all excited. 2019 was a good year, but will 2020 be even better? We've got 364 days to find out! 01. Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge feat NASH - Vesper (Dennis Sheperd Remix) 02. Sheridan Grout feat BLÜ EYES - Freefall 03. Gareth Emery - Mezzanine 04. Ashley Wallbridge feat Clara Yates - Diamonds 05. Shane 54 feat Clara Sofie - Delirium 06. Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge - Kingdom United 07. NASH - Momentum 08. Yoel Lewis feat Sam Knight - Never Die 09. Gareth Emery - Laserface 03 (Leaving You) 10. Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge feat PollyAnna - Lionheart 11. NASH feat Michele C - I Know You 12. Joel Hirsch feat Sara Skinner - Your Reckless Heart 13. Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge - Amber Sun 14. Ben Gold - Sapphire (Recut) 15. DRYM - Nemesis 16. Gareth Emery - Laserface 02 (Thoughts In Pieces) 17. Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge - Electric Pirates 18. Gareth Emery & Emma Hewitt - Take Everything (STANDERWICK Remix) 19. Solis & Sean Truby, Ultimate, Katherine Amy - Stand By You 20. Gareth Emery - Laserface 01 (Aperture) 21. STANDERWICK - Never Gonna Step Down 22. Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge feat Jonathan Mendelsohn - Never Before 23. Darude & Ashley Wallbridge feat Foux - Surrender (Hixxy Remix) This was 50 minutes of pure heaven! I woke up this morning (or was it this afternoon? I was still a bit tipsy) and I went straight onto my PC. I know it's pathetic, but I needed my morning ritual to be done with. I needed music, and I found Garuda's mix. It took me into a new dimension, and it has been a fantastic journey through the records selected for this mix. 23 amazing Trance records. Most people are still recovering from last night, and I'm sitting here, enjoying 2020 already. Yes, we had to do some chores, but whilst doing them, I had this mix on. Christmas and NYE are officially over, it's time for normal music to come back into our lives. See you next Christmas, Michael Buble and Mariah Carey. Now it's time for normal music. Garuda's mix is a good one. A good one to start 2020 with. Especially Gareth Emery's own records, which there are a lot of in this mix. The best one of this mix? Sorry, but it has to be three: the Laserface records. 01, 02 and 03. My God, they are good! Pure Trance vibes coming through your speakers. Especially 02. What a build up. Tremendously done, mr Emery. Wicked anthem(s). A wonderful mix. Enjoy it, and you will certainly see 2020 becoming a good year for us all. Hopefully it will be a good year for Garuda too, but no doubt it will. If they keep on pushing music like what they have used for this mix, it will be a majestic year. Oh yeah, it was cool that they have added a UK Hardcore anthem at the end. Not a huge fan of Hixxy, but still an enjoyable record. It's nice to see it slowly going places, after several decades of being forgotten and under appreciated. - December Bring The Ringer Mix (2019)
The end of the year is about to happen, and why not end on a relaxing note? It's been an interesting year for all of us, and for us here at TCD it's been a great year. A lot of awesome music coming out, and a lot of mixes being reviewed over the year. We will not stop though, bring on 2020. But what I'm trying to say is, NYE is happening, and we need to chill after a year of hard working, and I think I found a nice and relaxing mix to finish the year with. The mix I'm talking about, is made by The Knutsens. Never heard of them before, or seen any of The Knutsens before on Soundcloud, but to be fair, this is their first mix online. I don't even know if it's a group, duo, or single DJ. I literally stumbled across this mix on Soundcloud after someone reposted it, or liked it. I got intrigued, and pressed play. 54 minutes later I was in House heaven. And I want you to experience the same feeling. The tracklist. Yes, you are after it. So here it is: 01. COEO - 1981 02. Soul Reductions - Got 2 Be Loved (Extended Mix) 03. Justin Jay - 824 Curson Avenue 04. Spiller - Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) 05. The DJ Lawyer - Sad Girls (Original Mix) 06. Purple Disco Machine & Faithless - Let The Music Play 07. Julien Jabre - Swimming Pool (Purple Disco Machine Re-Work) 08. Angelo Ferreri - Izinque (Alesso Cala Remix) 09. COEO - Like It Is (Original Mix) 10. Hotmood - Til The Music Stops 11. Algrthm - On My Mind (Original Mix) 12. Seamus Haji - Boogie 2nite (Seamus Haji & Blackhill Extended Mix) A short but good tracklist. Only know 30% of the artists, so this mix is going to be interesting. After listening to it, I can tell you that this mix is just so good, and the records selected by The Knutsens are so good, it's hard not to be in a chill zone. I am so relaxed right now, I could just nod off as we speak. The music starts off relaxing, and continues like it. Not often do we get the chance to review House mixes, and when we do,they are always so good. I haven't come across a bad mix this year. Or ever. House is a style that you cannot go wrong with, or f*** about with. And The Knutsens' first Soundcloud mix is a success, that's for sure. I loved each and every record used for this mix. Nice throwback sounds to the golden years of Disco, but made fresh for the 2019/2020 dancefloors. I would like to continue writing, but I won't. I will stop right now. I want you to start playing this mix right now, and get into the chilled zone I am right now. No, please do not go into a freezer or stand outside butt naked: I didn't mean chilled as in cold. For God sake, just relax. That's what I'm saying. I am chilled the f*** out! - Factor B - Producer Year Mix 2019
It's been too long since I reviewed a Trance mix, and boy, did I come across a mix so good, I couldn't let this one slip by without writing a word about it? As we are all Trance lovers, certain names do appear on our timeline on Soundcloud every so often, and one of those names has to be Factor B. 2019 was his year, and it's been excellent for him, producing wise. And to end the year on a high note, he decided to fabricate his 2019 producer year mix, like he did in 2018. A good mix to end a good year with! Not really sure who's behind the name, but what I do know is that Factor B makes excellent Trance music. No wonder his music is released on a wide variety of labels, such as Subculture, Pure Trance, GO MUSIC, FSOE, and more. You are not just 'some' producer, if your music is released on those labels! But if you are unaware of Factor B's potentials, don't you worry; this mix will be a treat to you. You can thank me (and him of course) later. For now, let's dive straight into this epic hour and 10 minute long mix. You can thank me now. You are welcome! 01. The Thrillseekers & Factor B - Immerse (Immersive Intro Edit) 02. Factor B - Stardust Symphony 03. Factor B - Touch 04. Above & Beyond - Treasure (Factor B Remix) 05. Factor B - Anything (For You) 06. Neptune Project feat Polly Strange - Pulse (Factor B Remix) 07. Cold Blue - Mount Everest (Factor B's Back To Base Camp Remix) 08. Factor B - Alpha 09. Giuseppe Ottaviani & Factor B - Synergy 10. Marc Dawn - Random Walk (Factor B's Back To The Future Remix) 11. Alena - Turn It Around (Factor B's Back To The Future Remix) 12. Factor B feat Cat Martin - Crashing Over A short tracklist but a very powerful anthem filled mix! It's 71 minutes of Trance heaven, or as Factor B puts it: Proper Trance. And that is what I wanted to hear today. I needed some music to release myself to, and this mix has been a blessing. A lot of his own productions and remixes can be found in here, so there's no need for you to not fully immerse yourself into his world, and what he does. Factor B has the power to make excellent music. And these 71 minutes have been pure bliss. Only positive feedback for mr B. So many great records in this mix, but the one that did the most damage in my house was 'Mount Everest' by Cold Blue, remixed by Factor B. What a stunner! What a beast of a record. Pure Trance? Yes, it definitely is! I'm not going to spend any longer, writing words no one reads. Just press play and enjoy it! - Oldskool Hardcore Rave (3/10) - 19-12-19
It seems that the only type of music I'm finding currently on Soundcloud is Oldskool Rave music. Am I complaining? Nope, not really. I am really excited to find mixes that contain 'new' music to my ears. And seeing as I wasn't around during the heydays of UK Rave music, I have got a lot to catch up to. The other day I found a mix containing more than 130 records in an hour long mix, today it's a mix with 40 records, mixed into two hours and 10 minutes long mix. All 91 and 92 anthems. It's like we are having another Christmas day: every day we find new treats! This mix was made by Craig Scott. Unknown to me, I delved straight into the mix. This DJ has got over 30 years of mixing experience in him, so this mix should be good. Not sure if the tracks were good, half of these are unknown anthems to me. But truth be told: it's Oldskool Rave music, this should NEVER be bad. I've not come across any old Rave anthem which was bad, or unlistenable. Is unlistenable even a word? Well, not when it comes to Rave anthems. I can't find any that sucked. They are all wicked, and part of our rich Rave history. Anyway, it's time to show you the tracklist. So, as I mentioned before, it's 2 hours long, and got 40 anthems in it. Not a megamix, thankfully. One megamix per week is enough for me. Now we get full lengthed anthems. And you might know each and every anthem. Go and have a butchers! 01. Es Pee Dee & DJ Distroi - Alpha Wave 02. Rhythm Section - Dreamworld 03. Dave Charlesworth - Energizer 1A 04. Generator - Narcomaniac 05. Isotonik - Let's Get Down 06. The Sorcerer - Odyssey 07. The House Crew - We Are Hardcore (Magic Fantasy Mix) 08. Tone Def - Big Love 09. FOLS - Enviromental Health 10. Sy-Kick - Nasty (Remix) 37. B Traits - Fever 38. The Flashback Project - Obsession 39. Stormski - Dream Of Heaven 40. The Panacea - Hysterie This was a very pleasant mix. I've really enjoyed it. From the first to the last second it took me back to the early 90s, when Rave music was so damn good. Craig Scott, your mix is tight. And highly enjoyable! So many classics in here. That nostalgic sound just brings smiles for miles. I cannot express what the secret is behind these anthems, and you do hear that they are quite oldskool. But they still keep it sounding fresh. I can still enjoy it, even in 2019/2020. The Oldskool sound will never die, and will always remain appreciated. Even by those who were too young to understand it. You might be thinking that 2 hours is too long, but it's long enough to enjoy it. As I mentioned before, I'm not aware of at least 50% of the records used in this mix, but I have to say that none of these anthems were boring, or unexcited. Craig's mix is just what we needed on the 28th of December. Christmas is finally over, let the Oldskool sound re-emerge again! Goodbye Mariah, it's time for the Oldskool Rave to be on the radio again! A very tight mix. Got no negative comments or negative feedback, only positive ones. Brilliant mix, brilliant tunes. Everything's good about this mix. Get this down ya, right now! Ps. I couldn't download it from theartistunion.com, this is due to the server being offline? Happy Third Christmas day! I don't know if that's an actual day, but somewhere on this massive planet a religion must celebrate it. And why not? Why is it only focussed on two days? We should have more days focussed on Christmas. We keep the festivities going by reviewing a new Christmas mix, made by DJ arps/arpz. Don't worry: no Tiggers were harmed during the making of this mix. So what can you expect to hear in this mix? Well, it's UK Hardcore records from big labels such as Future Breakz,Hardcore Underground, Legitimate Recordings, Kniteforce, and the newly formed Brutal Kuts. All selected by arps, and carefully mixed together. Regulars of this website know that arps/aprz's mixes are always tight and exactly what we needed to hear, so when you are looking for a wicked UK Hardcore mix, arps is your man. There's a lot of excellent and exciting stuff in his mix. A lot of Breakbeat stuff, and piano sections. Who doesn't love a piano in UK Hardcore anthems? Who doesn't love Breakbeat? I've not seen or heard any of these anthems before, so it's going to be an amazing journey! arps always knows how to excite the listeners with something new and refreshing! I've had a blast listening to this. arps and Breakbeat music always go hand in hand. I can't remember when it was that I reviewed his last mix, but it must have been a long time ago. Too long ago. We need more arps/arpz. This mix contains a lot of new and exciting music coming from the UK Hardcore scene, and I'm really excited to hear the records coming out of the new label, run by Darwin. It all looks promising, and also Entity's new album. The scene is thriving on new music, and it's about time! The music that is presented to us in this mix is exciting. It keeps the flow going throughout the mix, and never gets dull. I'm really digging this direction UK Hardcore is going to, and hope this new sound is being kept alive for as long as possible. arps/arpz, your mix is as tight as expected. No negative comments. - The Hardcore Years: 1993 (2019)
Happy Boxing Day everyone! Most of us received a lot of presents, and are looking to chill today. Or go absolutely ape during the sales, but whatever you do, you stay safe. Those that have stayed at home and didn't find it necessary to go to Ikea right now, I've got a nice mix. A mix made by DJ Virus, focussed on 1993 Hardcore music. And the reason why this is a special one, is because it's a super megamix. And when I say super, I do mean super: over 130 tracks in a 60 minute long mix. That's a minimum of 2 records per minute. Would you agree that this is a super megamix? I was 10 years old in 1993, so I was too young to fully appreciate and understand music. I wasn't even aware of the majestic parties run in the UK. Don't worry, I have fully emerged myself into this 'lost' bit in my rave history, and have embraced it completely. I've been to several UK raves, but not during its heydays. The 90s, and especially the early years, were the best. The whistle crew, anyone? I've got hours of livesets, which were recorded during the early 90s, and they are really awesome. During the 90s they all used vinyl, and I'm guessing that DJ Virus didn't use vinyl. If he did, he should deserve a medal. But I'm guessing he has't: how else can you cram in so many records in 60 minutes? I won't even be able to fully hear each of the records DJ Virus has selected. This is going to be an insane mix! 01. I have to re-type the whole mix, and my fingers are genuinely hurting right now. 132 records in a 60 minute mix. Half of them I have not even noticed! That's how quick this mix is! No joke though. You are a superstar if you can hear literally each and every record, and it would be more impressive if you knew every record. DJ Virus' mix is a tight one. Really impressive stuff, if truth be told. I'm really impressed that he's done the unthinkable. I've had a blast, listening to these 1993 tunes. It was a magical year, wasn't it? For those who appreciate the early Hardcore sound, you will all say that 1991-1993 were the best years, and I fully underline that statement. I'm fully aware of the music that came from the UK back in the early 90s, but don't know each and every record. During this hour long mix I came across shitloads of unknown records, and it made me a happy man. This fully ignited my early Hardcore spark. I need more of the early years. Not being pedantic, but I don't want to typ anymore. I will let this mix speak for itself. Go and download this free mix right now. Thanks DJ Virus for a wicked mix. More of these please! - Addict - Millenium Mayhem (2019)
It's Christmas everyone! Hope you are enjoying the festive day so far. I know I have. Been treated to a few nice presents, and more are coming my way. But so far I've been spoiled. One of the presents I've found was even for free on Soundcloud! A Millennium Hardcore focussed mix, by Addict! Now, normally I would let mixes pass when there's no tracklist, but Addict was so kind to add one today, so thanks for that. And also, seeing as I'm a raver since 1993, I'd rather spend my Christmas day listening to Hardcore. Who doesn't want to hear that? I know I'm probably the only one reviewing today, but seeing as I've got plenty of time spare (what else to do? stuff your face and the turkey, and drink until you go nuts), so I thought it would be nicer to write a review about an excellent bit of Hardcore history. Millennium Hardcore is still my favourite kind of Hardcore, and even to this day it keeps me entertained. I find that the music released back around the Millennium, now nearly 20 years ago, was superb. Quality was astonishing, and it held its strength, even all these years later. DJ Addict's mix contains a lot of excellent tunes. But a few were unknowns to me, hence why I asked for a tracklist. And what I got, was a huge grin on my face. I looked like Farther Christmas, but without the face fungus. 01. The Wishmaster & Promo - Stomp Me 02. Promo - Tunnel Vision 03. Masters Of Ceremony - Acrabadacra 04. Art Of Fighters - Artwork (Tha Playah Remix) 05. DJ D - Cold As Ice (Tha Playah Remix) 06. G-Town Madness & The Viper - Come As One (Project Hardcore Anthem 2007) 07. Nosferatu & Endymion - Drunk With A Gun 08. Re-Style - Get In Crackin 2011 09. Tha Playah - I Call The Shots 10. Nitrogenetics - Inside Your Head 11. Tha Playah - Walking The Line 12. Weapon X - Planet Rocker 13. Neophyte Records -Neophyte Mashup 2 14. Evil Activities - No Place To Hide 15. Tha Playah - Why So Serious 16. Angerfist - Street Fighter (Audiofreq Remix) 17. Tha Playah - My Misery It's good that I'm writing this review: this means that the wife is cooking the turkey, and I do not need to assist her. Thanks Addict, for making my Christmas a good 'un! Let me start by saying that I never heard the first two records before. Yes, I am a Promo fan, but never come across these anthems before. I haven't got ALL his albums, to be fair. But when I heard these two, I knew I was going to be in for a treat. And boy, the mix was extremely good. But the best record has to be the first two. Having Star Wars references in your song is just epic. Come on, who disagrees? If you do, fuck off. A few small cross fading errors, but nothing major. Enjoy this mix as much as I have. It really made me happy, and I was immediately thinking of the massive CD collection I had around the Millennium, and how much guilders/euros I've spent on buying these. I think it's about time to blow the dust of them, and start raving again. And also to buy all Promo albums. How I missed these two is beyond me. Thanks Addict for composing the mix, and making the tracklist! Merry Christmas, my fellow ravers! - The Yearmix Of 2019 Presented By Beuk In Je Kanus vs Monkey Kong
Today is Christmas, the day filled with tunes by Wham!, Mariah Carey, Nick & Simon, Armin van Buuren, Slade, etc. But why though? Why not let your Christmas be ruined by awful music, and why not have something raw and rough coming through your speakers during this festive time of the year? We all like to have a great time, so why not listen to Beuk In Je Kanus vs Monkey Kong's Yearmix of 2019? Enjoy this day, and embrace the Rawstyle sound. Let's have fun, and 'ave it! I fully understand that my previous statement might offend people who love Christmas, so I do apologise. But you have to understand that in my household Christmas music is played since mid June each year, and the Skyradio app is constantly on. I'm getting annoyed now, and Chris Rea is still stuck on the motorway, finding his way home. Why not have a bit of Rawstyle instead? I've reviewed a Monkey Kong mix before, but never a Beuk In Je Kanus mix. Don't know who's responsible for this 'name' and who's behind it, but I'm guessing it's someone who appreciates the raw sound coming from the Hardstyle scene. Together they've made this megamix. 60 records in 90 minutes. The finest records 2019 had to offer. The first 25 records mixed by BIJK and the next 35 by MK. So it will be a very interesting mix. Anyway, no matter how you approach this mix: it's still a full on Rawstyle megamix, so you won't be disappointed whatsoever. Beuk In Je Kanus: 01. Sound Rush feat Michael Jo - Breakaway 02. But truth be told, the mix is nice and long too, so no worries: they haven't crammed in 60 records in 90 minutes. Oh God, they have! Bloody Nora, what a mix! A true Christmas blessing, a true megamix for all you Rawstyle fanatics out there. I wanted to use the word freak, but I do not want to offend anyone. The mix is made up two mixes, as mentioned before, but there's no seam between both of them. It's a nicely blended mix. BIJK and MK have made this wonderful mix, showcasing what 2019 had in store for us. Reminding us that it's been one hell of a year, and if this trend continues, 2020 will be an even better year. I do like the raw sound, and sometimes you just want to stomp your feet so hard, that blisters appear out of nowhere. But a melodic Rawstyle track is sometimes more my cup of tea. Basically the majority of D-Sturb's records are my thing, they are my jam. And by looking at the mix it also shows that it has been his year. My God, there's a lot of D-Sturb's stuff in here. Are BIJK and MK fans of D-Sturb too? Well, who wouldn't be? It's time now for us all to open our presents that Father Christmas has brought to our lovely homes, and I'm not going to talk any more about this hour and a half long mix. Let's just embrace it, and listen to it today. Turn the volume up to 50, and be festive. Fuck the neighbours, who likes them anyway? - Mello Mix (2019)
The first END OF YEAR mix I have found is made by the biggest EDM DJ in the world right now, Marshmello. And to show you how big he is (not his actual size I'm talking about though): 10 days ago this mix got uploaded, and already has got 139K+ plays at this moment! Most mixes on Soundcloud are struggling to get more than 1000 plays, but this is a Marshmello mix: obviously it immediately gains attention, and 616 reactions to his mix can be found on Soundcloud. He's so huge: we've gone passed the stage where we are wondering who's behind the mask, and just consider him 'human'. Even though the mask hides the true identity, we are not bothered about that, we are more focussed on the music. Truth be told, I've got a love-hate relationship with EDM. Maybe it's a generation thing, but I want to hear awesome music performed by awesome artists who take the scene seriously. We've seen many clowns over the years, who have sadly put a downer on my attitude towards EDM. That's why I have this relationship. Many people find it funny, but I do not. We all know which artists I'm talking about, but hey: as long as you enjoy it, why shouldn't you? I thought I should give this mix a go, seeing as it's quite a while since I last reviewed an EDM mix. And the tags underneath the mix made it even more interesting: this mix contains Dance, Dance Pop, Dubstep, Trap, and of course EDM. This is going to be interesting: I've lost touch on who's who in the EDM world, and not familiar with most songs being released nowadays. So this is for me a reintroduction. Could be interesting? 01. Marshmello & Flux Pavilion feat Elohim - Room To Fall 02. Netsky & Aloe Blacc - Snitch 03. Yellow Claw x Duke & Jones - ID 04. RL Grime & Juelz - Formula 05. Sikdope - S.O.S. 06. Marshmello & TYNAN - Earthquake 07. JOYRYDE feat GOLD - YUCK 08. Party Favor & Nonsens - Gasoline 09. Asking Alexandria - The Violence (Sikdope Remix) 10. YehMe2 & Wuki - Throw It 11. Salvatore Ganacci - Horse 12. Marshmello & Yultron - Let's Get Down 13. Slushii & Kaivon - Sober 14. Oliver Tree - Miracle Man (Zeds Dead Remix) 15. Troyboi - The Truth 16. Holly - Through Me 17. KAYZO feat Alex Gaskarth - Up In Flames 18. Duke & Jones - Isolate 19. Marshmello feat A Day To Remember - Rescue Me 20. Marshmello & Slushii - Put Yo Hands Up 21. Eptic - Beyond The Stars 22. SIPPY - Ghosts 23. ID - ID 24. Borgore - G.O.A.T. 25. sapientdream feat KARRA - Mess It Up 26. Ducky - The Only One 27. Aazar & Bellecour - Bonaparte 28. Moksi feat Digitzz - Do You Hear Me 29. Alesso & SUMR CAMP - In The Middle 36. DJ Snake - Frequency 75 37. Blanke & Godlands - Hellraiser 38. Petit Biscuit feat JP Cooper - We Were Young 39. Marshmello & Kane Brown - One Thing Right (KDrew Remix) 40. What So Not & Diablo - OOGAHDAM! 41. Marshmello feat YUNGBLUD & Blackbear - Tongue Tied This is a full on EDM mix, as you would expect from Marshmello. If you don't know who he is, then you are really too young, or maybe too old. But even this crazy Dutchman knows about his existence. But does that mean this mix is good, or is it bad? Well, I've got mixed feelings. Yes, even after listening to it, I've got this mix feeling going through my system. I do like a bit of EDM, but some records do not make any sense. Not to put a downer on things, it's still nice and mello mix (see what I did there), but some records just didn't make me move whatsover. For example Alesso's 'PROGRESSO'. I would have expected one member of the former Swedish House Mafia to make something extraordinary, and yet it sounds extremely dull. But am I being too negative? Yes, I am. It's still enjoyable. Don't get me wrong: if I would be at a Marshmello concert/gig, I would still put my hands in the air. I like the good atmosphere he puts out towards the crowd, and some of the records selected do truly demolish speakers. He starts off with a wicked record, if truth be told. And the record that got me the most is 'We Were Young'. I love the mellowed down mood you get, the second the record hits you. But it's not really big event-ish, isn't it? A good mix, to be fair. He knows how to please the masses, and that's why he's such a crowd pleaser. The set is nice, some records really ear pleasing. All in all a nice set. Would have expected a bit more from certain artists, seeing as they know better. But I still listened to it, and enjoyed it.
