- Mat Zo Presents: 20 Years Of Anjunabeats (Continuous Mix) (2020)
It is Monday, and you are probably still working, or not. I started early, so I finished early. And you've guessed it, seeing as I'm working from home still: I found a wicked mix for you all! One that you have probably already seen and you are thinking ''jeez, he's a bit slow, isn't he?''. Yes, I am not as woke as the kids are (don't know if I'm using that correctly). But hey ho, you cannot have everything the way you want it. If you have seen and listened to this mix already, I do apologise. But why not listen to it again and again? You all know what Anjunabeats is, and what kind of impact they have had so far in the dance scene. And they still keep on pushing music toward us, and I am happy to sit here, and let them take over my earwaves. I am loving it, and to celebrate their 20 years in the game, they have asked a few DJs to fabricate mixes, Mixes which obviously contain records released on this majestic label, and a few have contributed so far: Oliver Smith, Mat Zo, Sunny Lax, Jaytech, Maor Levi, Nitrous Oxide, ilan Bluestone, Grum, Fatum, and more are coming our way. So make sure you follow Anjunabeats on the usual platforms if you don't want to miss out! Obviously Mat Zo does not need an introduction. If you are really that desperate to find out who he is, just Google him. For now we should be focussing on his contribution to the celebrations surrounding the label Anjunabeats. And his mix has already received a lot of positive feedback, and within a few months already nearly 12k plays on Soundcloud. Now that's big, but not big enough for a Grammy nominee. Well, let's see what Mat Zo picked for his mix. See if it will carry you away. Flying high in the sky, eh? Michael Cassette - Zeppelin Signalrunners - Meet Me In Montauk Myon & Shane 54 - Not A Lot Left Andy Moor - Fake Way (Ecomix) Bart Claessen - Elf (2001 Returning Mix) Signalrunners & Julie Thompson - These Shoulders (Club Mix) David West feat Andreas Hermansson - Larry Mountains 54 Maor Levi - Illumina David West - Welsh Morphology Kyau & Albert - Kiksu Above & Beyond -World On Fire (12 Inch Mix) Maor Levi - Shapes (Oliver Smith Remix) The good thing about these mixes is the fact that you know most of the tracks (or sometimes them all), and you know you won't be disappointed. Especially with a label such as Anjunabeats, you know you are in for a good ride! A few records did caught my eye, but I have to give one record the ultimate credit for being such a f**king epic tune. I remember hearing that one for the first time in an Armin van Buuren megamix for ASOT, and it just stuck with me. It was played only for max of 30 seconds, but those 30 seconds left a lasting impression. I am obviously talking about 'Larry Mountains 54'. Also credit for the most random title ever. Obviously not the weirdest name ever, but it's up there. Mat Zo, his mix is dope as f**k. And I've really enjoyed it. He's used a few slammers, and some are still my all time favourite anthems, like 'Larry Mountains 54' and ;Meet Me In Montauk'. I can only share the love, like so many already have. I am in awe when it comes to Mat Zo's mix, and the music that is released on Anjunabeats. So if you are in awe too, why not check out this mix, other mixes, and download them all! It might even reduce the length of the week by 2358967 seconds.... (I'm just saying bollocks)..... But you know what I am saying. Make sure you get the album. It's already a classic in the making. Full length records, who doesn't want to hear that? - Binary Finary - Trance Central 5 Classics Mix (2014)
It's Friday, and the weekend is nearly about to happen. We are waiting for the clock to hit 5 in the afternoon, so we can take off our work clothes, and enjoy the weekend. Enjoying it, by staying at home. You could have a house party, but not with a lot of friends. Only 5 friends you can have, the rule is a maximum of 6 people. And seeing as the party industry has fallen completely into disrepair and there are no real major events happening, we can only party at home. But when we do, let's make it awesome! I remember reviewing another Binary Finary set a few months ago, which was their third instalment of their Trance Central Classics mix series. Now we've reached the fifth instalment, and if you love Trance and love the classics, you will be in for a treat. They do know how to please the listeners, and this mix might be 6 years old, it's still a mix you will have to listen to. It's not outdated or boring whatsoever. If you want to be in a state of ecstasy,Binary Finary have got your back. This mix is jam packed with forgotten gems, truly masterful anthems. And it's a good mix to catch up on some forgotten classics, if you are not listening to classic Trance constantly. And it's also nice to hear certain versions I've not heard before, like 'The Rebel' by Yves Deruyter. I know the original, like everyone else, but this version by DJ Randy is certainly sweet. And you can find more of this in this hour and a half mix. Check out the tracklist, do it right now! Dutch Force - Deadline (Allen & Envy vs Phil Parry Rework) Nu NRG - Supersonik Way (Nyx 2013 Rework) Rank 1 - Airwave (Daniel Rems 2013 Reboot) Darude - Feel The Beat (Original Mix) Condor - You Can Kiss My (Original Mix) Nu NRG - Dreamland (John Dopping 2011 Reconsideration) Jonah - Ssssst.... (Listen) (Original Mix) Mauro Picotto - Komodo (Original Mix) Cascade - Transcend (Moonman's Trancentral Remix) Dave 202 & Phil Green - Legends (Hijackers Remix) Joy Kitikonti - Joyenergizer (Phisical Mix) Yves Deruyter - The Rebel (DJ Randy Remix) Commander Tom - Are Am Eye (John Askew Remix) Binary Finary - 1998 (Alex M.O.R.P.H. Remix) This mix is hard as hell. Hard as nails. It contains so much filth, that it becomes extremely difficult to be in a state of Trance. You are more likely to be taken over by the devil, and he's got you in his grip. He won't let go of you, and he will make sure you dance, dance! And at the same time he rubs your face into the fact that you cannot hear these anthems being played at an event near you. I have to say that one of the things that made me very happy, was the usage of Jonah's record. I do love this filthy record from the first time I heard it, back in 1999. How do I remember which year it was, and yet I forget what I did 5 minutes ago? Well, it was on a Mysteryland album, which was released in 1999. So ner. I've got only credit for Binary Finary. A fucking epic mix, no flaws or mistakes. Carefully selected records, carefully mixed together. And it's just great to hear these tunes again. I don't know how many editions there are of this mix series, but I will certainly check them all out. Unless this was the last, and I'm too late? Have a nice weekend y'all! - Thunderdome 2019 Heroes Of Hardcore Mix By Jehuty
We have made it to Tuesday! Wahey, time to party. And since last Monday I've been working at home alone: the wife is back in the office. So I'm sitting here, all alone, and guess what happens? The Dutchman is back in his 'normal' environment: Hardcore music is blasting through his speakers. And of course I am listening to the music that I grew up with. The proper Hardcore, the golden tunes. The tunes that shaped me into the person I am. And that's all thanks to Thunderdome's recent livestream. The spark has been ignited again. But does it truly go off? Last year we had the brilliant Thunderdome, with the wicked camouflage background surrounding the Wizard. And I only recently discovered a mix made to celebrate last year's edition. A mix made by someone called Jehuty. He/she made a few mixes to commemorate the upcoming event, but the one I am interested in, is the Heroes Of Hardcore mix. This sub group of Thunderdome had its own CD collection, which I owned 95% of. And some editions were much better than the Thunderdome CDs. But they were memorable. Jehuty made this mix, containing 35 records from the finest Hardcore DJs/producers. The tracks will blow your mind. Some of these records I've not come across for a few years, maybe even longer than a decade. But it's good to hear those sexy, ear soothing anthems again! And if you are a true Hardcore lover, you will know at least 97% of the records selected for this mix. I don't know if you are ready for this amount of filth. Jehuty, whoever you are, the tracklist is superb. True Hardcore fanatics will have moist underpants and/or erections right now. This is filth, freaking filth. Promo & MC Drokz - Thunderdome Anthem 2007 (Intro CUT) 50% Of The Dreamteam - Open Sesame (Theme From Hell) Catscan - WOIII Promo & X-Ess - Vicious Circle DJ Promo - Counter Attack DJ Promo - King Of Pain DJ Promo - Life From The Other Side Bodylotion - How Much Can You Take (Catscan Remix) Menace 2 Society - Chronic Disorder Tony Salmonelli - Hey! (The Viper & Mad-E-Fact Remix) Catscan - Finishing Profiles Nosferatu & Ophidian - Psychiatric Ass Ophidian - Butterfly VIP American Hardcore Alliance - We Will Never Forget (DJ Sabotage Remix) DJ Sabotage - Forced To Snap Dione - Confusing MFs DJ Promo & Digital Boy - Serious Damage Three Village vs Impulse Factory - The Underground G-Shock - Demons (Promo Remix) Jappo & Lancinhouse - Exlxaxl (Neophyte & Evil Activities Remix) The Viper - Intellectual Killer (DJ Nosferatu & Endymion Remix) Endymion - Payback DJ Paul & DJ Promo - Enemies 4 Life (Promo Mix) DJ Promo - Hurricane Brain DJ Nosferatu vs Endymion - The Desolate One Masochist vs Impulse Factory - We Are (Like I Told Ya) Buzz Fuzz - Jealousy (Is A Muthafucka) (Neophyte Remix) The Masochist - Antimix (Neophyte Antimix) Omar Santana - Causing Hysteria Pino D'Ambini & Buzz Fuzz - Murphy's Law DJ Buzz Fuzz - Men Of Teflon Project Omeaga - Prednison Attack Endymion - Rock The Part-E Nosferatu - Have It Your Way Nosferatu & Endymion - Drunk With A Gun It might sound weird to say, but when I hear some of these records, I do not think of Thunderdome, but more of Masters Of Hardcore. You know, some of these records have got this distinctive MoH sound, and some the Thunderdome sound. I do not know how to describe it, but who actually gives a fucking shit about what I type? It's all fucking Hardcore, and that's all that matters! Jehuty has selected some heavyweight anthems. Let me get them out of the way right now: these are the three biggest and finest records of this mix (according to me): DJ Paul & Promo's 'Enemies 4 Life', remixed by Promo, Nosferatu's 'Have It Your Way', and of course The Viper's 'Intellectual Killer', remixed by Nosferatu and Endymion. Those three are certainly my most favourite ones, but what are yours? I think I know Hardcore enough, especially the early stuff, but this mix proves to me that I've still got things to learn. Jehuty selected a few records so unknown to me, I had to Google them. American Hardcore Alliance? DJ Sabotage? And I've never heard the Omar Santana record before. Never too old to learn, eh? And I'm not a millionaire: not had all the money to buy each and every Hardcore record ever made! I like the mix a lot. Just 'knallen'. Nothing else. A few small mixing errors, but nothing major. I will certainly follow the page, and check out the other mixes he/she has made. Thanks Jehuty for making my Tuesday slightly better! - Drokz @ Thunderdome Hardcore Stream (2020)
About a month and a bit ago, Thunderdome decided to treat the fans to a fantastic livestream. With a few big names they did capture a lot of attention: Nosferatu, Ophidian, DRS, Marc Acardipane, and Drokz. Well, they had to: the world has stopped dancing, and the only thing we can get instead is music coming to us via our speakers. And organisations are not stopping, they still provide us with the finest music out there. And ID&T is no exception. I do not know how many actually joined the livestream, I couldn't watch it myself, was on a holiday with the wife, and she finds that more important than just a livestream. I've already reviewed Marc Acardipane's set, and today it's time for good ol' Drokz behind the wheels of steel. And as much as you think of me, you have to give this man a lot of credit for being at the forefront of Terror since the early 1900s. Yes, he's that old, hence his nickname opa (which means grandad in Dutch). He does look slightly angry, and about to devour an animal with his bare hands, I've never seen Drokz laugh and enjoy himself as much as he did during his livestream. Drokz can smile! It's a blessing to see opa laugh. Many of the people out there might not know of the style we love called Terror, and might assume it's just noise and nothing else, those people are wrong. Terror does deserve credit for being different and hard, and not having any boundaries: as long as it's fucking hard. It should have a bit of a melody though, otherwise we can just listen to Splittercore. Terror sometimes does sound so lovely and mild, but can turn vicious within second. Drokz certainly shows his skills as a wicked DJ and producer during this 31 minute long set, and gives us all the music we need. And he has a laugh. Good on you Drokz, for enjoying this. I would shit myself completely live on air. But you are a living legend, this is nothing new to you. I found this video on Youtube, and I cannot keep my eyes from looking anywhere else: I am intrigued in what happens during Drokz's set. And I am still wondering which prison this was recorded in? Was it Scheveningen? It's a famous prison in the Netherlands, but I don't want to use Google, that's lame. Well, time for the tracklist. 31 minutes, 18 records. Thanks Drokz for uploading the whole tracklist. See, that's one of the reasons why he's a fucking legend. Dione - The Switch Proactive HC - Who The Fuck Proactive HC & Vandal!sm - Someone Make Some Noise Drokz - Rip It Up Dolphin - Mic Mutilator (Akira Remix) Proactive HC - Bad Reputation Proactive HC - The Definition Of Hard Nosferatu & System Overload - Hating It Drokz - Oh This Is So Hard (VIP Version) Drokz - Wild For The Night Detest & Drokz - Beer Pressure Drokz - Phonking Like A OG Hellfish & Akira - Rise Of The Uptempians The Vizitor feat Narcotic - Fuck You Up Akira & Metal D - Trancetrutje (Drokz Remix) Drokz - Cocaine The Devils Brain Creatures Of The Occult - Fear (VIP Version) DJ Smurf - Exposure King (2020 Re-Strip) Let me warn you: this is certainly NOT music for anything who thinks pop music is the best out there! This is only for the hardest motherfuckers out there. People who appreciate Terror music, and who can see the beauty in each record. Yes, some records are just straight forward fucking hard as hell, and no hidden messages can be found. But some are just so beautiful, and hard to explain to outsiders why the music is so damn great. You either like it or you don't. And I'm guessing that you are liking this, seeing as you are reading this review. The whole set up is just spot on. A prison. The hardest DJ. The noise Drokz makes a second before he presses play. The smile from ear to ear. His can of beer. The lights. The camera crew. The huge arse wizard everywhere. Thunderdome. I can only give credit to ID&T for making this worth our time. And thanking Drokz for these wicked anthems. Yes, yes, yes. Drokz has put in a lot of effort. Of course he has a few 'funny' and jokey songs in here, like the one he ends with, but let's not underestimate his passion for Terror: his new group called Proactive HC is doing great things, and we can hear a few songs during this livestream. New and fresh, yet with a nostalgic sound from the early days. Two records stand out for me, and they are both hard as nails: 'The definition Of Hard' by Proactive HC, and 'Fear' by Creatures Of The Occult. I love the whole set, but the second I heard these come on, my mind just went fully insane, and I couldn't contain my happiness. I peed myself, like a dog being excited for the first time. Don't blame me, Drokz always does this to me. I've got huge respect for Drokz after all these years. Recently he did a few interviews, and it has opened my eyes slightly. And I respect him for who he is behind the decks. And I hope he keeps on doing what he's doing until the end of time; we certainly need Drokz. I cannot imagine living in a world where there's no Drokz. No drugs, yeah, but no Drokz is the worst thing you can imagine. Drokz, you've done it again. I can understand why you are smiling, because you've shown the world yet again why you are the leader. The boss man. The OG. The opa. - Johan Gielen - Live @ Trance Energy, Jaarbeurs, Utrecht 16.02.2002
The year is 2002. The world was suffering from another epidemic, namely the Trance epidemic. The whole world was in awe of this wicked music style, and as usual, ID&T made sure the raving community got what they really needed. Trance Energy took place in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and the line-up might have looked so tasty, you would really be a complete idiot to have missed this edition! Let me name everyone that played at that year's event: Alex M.O.R.P.H, Blank & Jones, Cosmic Gate, Jean, Rank 1, Johan Gielen, Bart Claessen, Jurgen, Mark van Dale, Pronti & Kalmani, Bas & Ram, Dumone, Francois, Kai Tracid, and Yves Deruyter. Now that's a fucking epic line-up. Fast forward 18 years in the future, and partying has seized. COVID has taken over control, and we are sitting here, enjoying live feeds on social media, trying to feel like we are raving again. But it's not the same. And will it ever be the same? Time will tell, but for now the online community is the only one that keeps us from losing the plot. We need music, and we need it, like a drip: constantly hitting us, at the right pace, and the right intensity. And today I'm taking you back to 2002. Guess which event I am talking about? That's obviously a silly question: it's Trance Energy I am talking about. And the set was by Johan Gielen. After browsing the internet I found out that many seem to liked his set a lot. And by looking at the tracklist I can fully understand why people love his set. So many great anthems from a forgotten era. 2 hours of early 2000s Trance music. Who would not want to hear that? Trance Energy was obviously a big event back in the days. Don't know why they ever stopped organising them. Can't remember if I have actually been to a Trance Energy. I've been to quite a few events, and some I have completely missed due to me being intoxicated. But if I had a time machine I would definitely go back to the years Trance Energy took place, and rave my ass off. Time to look at the tracklist and enjoy the music! Intro Human Evolution - Human Evolution DJ Tiesto - Lethal Industry (Svenson & Gielen Remix) Minimalistix - Close Cover (Airscape Remix) Marco V - GODD Space Frog feat The Grim Reaper - Follow Me (Mr Bishi Remix) Rank 1 - Awakening (Benicio Remix) Mauro Picotto - Pulsar (Megamid Mix) 4 Clubbers - Children (Club Mix) Svenson & Gielen - Twisted (Energy Mix) DJ Hein - Energetic Rhythm (Donkey Rollers Remix) Push - The Legacy (Svenson & Gielen Remix) Marco Bailey - Carrera (Craigh Walsh Remix) Soho - Flyin Madness Funk Einsatz - Punk Mauro Picotto - Awesome! (Original Mix) Svenson & Gielen - We Know What You Did (Johan Gielen Remix) Yoda - Definately (DJ Scot Project Mix) Brooklyn Bounce - Club Bizarre (DJ Scot Project Remix) Svenson & Gielen - The Beauty Of Silence (Pump Mix) Nu-NRG - Dreamland Lexicon 4 - Reach Me (Svenson & Gielen Remix) Wow. What a tracklist! I have been following Trance for a few years now, and I am still amazed by its strength. It doesn't matter from which decade Trance music is, it remains timeless music. Works of art. Not every record is, but the majority can be seen as wicked. And Johan Gielen's set is packed with awesome records. Don't just believe me, believe the 17k+ listeners on Soundcloud! It's so damn good to hear these classic anthems again. I've forgotten about a few. Sadly you don't hear them all over and over again: it's not the early noughties anymore. But it's good that in 2020 I am enjoying the music I grew up with. And Johan Gielen did his best to get everyone dancing in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. The last time I remember seeing him was back in 2002, at the Mega Music Dance Experience, also held in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. Haven't seen him since sadly. His set is excellent, and packed with truly epic anthems. From Trance to Hard Trance, everything is in here. And there are two records I could not leave aside: 'Awesome!' by Mauro Picotto and 'Club Bizarre' by Brooklyn Bounce, remixed by Scot Project. Those are the two records that come to mind when I think of the word 'epic', and in 2020 they still hold their value as being dancefloor destroyers! Damn, why does good music sometimes change? The Trance from 2020 does not sound anything like the early days, and boy, those early days were fucking epic! Johan's set is one that you need to listen to, to feel euphoric, and get that nostalgic feeling of the early years of Trance. Or the Millennium Trance sound. Whatever it's called, it's great! - Masters Of Hardcore Mix (2013)
Welcome to Tuesday, Hardcore day. I don't know if that's a genuine thing, but it must be a specific day of the week when it is indeed official Hardcore day. If it isn't today, well, sod you then, go somewhere else. But for now, let's pretend it is indeed Hardcore day, and we all need a bit of Hardcore on this slightly warm Tuesday. What kind of music do we prefer? Any specific label or style do you prefer? If you prefer Masters of Hardcore, you are in for a treat! I went browsing on Soundcloud a few weeks ago, and I stumbled across this mix. A MoH mix, made by someone called Meister Jogi. It doesn't appear to be an active account on Soundcloud: someone who made three mixes, and vanished of Soundcloud. That's cool. Short and sweet. That's also the nickname of my penis, but that's a completely different story. The mix is short, but sweet. A few well known MoH anthems. And that's all I can say right now. Time for you to look at the tracklist, and enjoy the anthems in this mix. There's nothing more to be mentioned: don't know the DJ, so that limits the length of this review. So, did anyone say tracklist? The Viper & Nosferatu - Who We Are The Viper & Evil Activities feat MC D - The Highest Ace Tha Playah - Clockwork T-Junction & Rudeboy - Cosmic Dreamer State Of Emergency - Addiction Rudeboy & Kid Morbid feat MC Syco - Take The Power Re-Style - Keep The Vibes Alive (Korsakoff Remix) Razzle Dazzle Trax - Rattlebrain (Korsakoff Remix) Rayden - Push The Button Outblast - Bassleader (Official Bassleader Anthem) I told you it was short and sweet. 10 records in 46 and a 1/2 mix. That's all. But it should satisfy us, and fulfil our daily dosage of Hardcore. Thanks Meister Jogi for this, whoever you are. The tracks are well known, big dancefloor anthems. Why do I keep saying dancefloor? It's more like stage killers, or big arena destroyers. These anthems do destroy a lot of eardrums at big festivals. Certainly those events we cannot visit at the moment. Fuck COVID. Anyway, got nothing more to mention: good mix, good records. Best record? Well, got to give that to Tha Playah with 'Clockwork'. So catchy, so hard, and so good. Maybe one side note: the recording quality sucks slightly. And a few cross fading sections aren't spot on. Check this mix out right now! - Journey Into Sound: Mega Mash Mix 90's Edition Vol. 1 (2020)
It's Sunday. And we all love and hate Sunday. It's because Monday is just around the corner, and we have to get back to work. wherever your work might be. It's the last day of the week that you are off, and a new week is emerging. 9 to 5 is looming, and we are not happy. But we need the cash, to spend on all the lovely things we want to have. So how can we make this day even better? By taking a time machine and jump back into time. The 90s, to be precise. The Golden years of Dance music. And also the decade of cheese-fest music. Kit Hype, you might have seen or heard of him before, has made this megamix. And as you have guessed correctly, it's filled with 90s goodies. The 90s were innocent, compared to the present day music. It was all new, and exciting. And cheesy from time to time. And very basic. But those that grew up in the 90s knows the feeling the music gives you. For me personally it was the decade I developed a taster for everything music related, mainly the harder styles. Without the 90s I wouldn't be reviewing at all. The 90s also made me spend a lot of guilders on music compilations. To be honest, I do listen to a lot of internet radio since lockdown, and the 90s radio stations have been very popular in our household. I don't know what the rest of the world listens to, but you should every so often dab into the 90s Dance music. It will certainly give you a good feeling, and the trip down memory lane can be very good. So what has Kit Hype done to make this a good mix? Well, he crammed in as many 90s anthems he could find. And he's not stuck to one style or one genres. Just everything Dance music. And the mix contains 70 records. You will be in for a treat! I normally ask if you want to see the tracklist, but I know for sure you want to see the list: Intro Felix - Don't You Want Me Dr. Alban - It's My Life Robin S - Show Me Love Sunclub - Fiesta Snap! - Rhythm Is A Dancer Rozella - Everybody's Free Culture Beat - Mr. Vain 2 Unlimited - The Workaholic Kristine W - Feel What You Want ATB - 9PM (Till I Come) MC Sar & The Real McCoy - Another Night The Ultimate Seduction - The Ultimate Seduction Run DMC - It's Like That (Jason Nevins Remix) 2 Unlimited - Get Ready T99 - Anastasia Freestylers - Ruffneck Urban Cookie Collective - The Key The Secret The Ultimate Seduction - Housenation Quadrophonia - Quadrophonia 2 Unlimited - The Twilight Zone Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar Cubic 22 - Night In Motion Ice MC - It's A Rainy Day Ice MC - Think About The Way Southside Spinners - Luvstruck 2 Brothers On The 4th Floor - Dreams Livin' Joy - Dreamer Real To Reel - I Like To Move It Outhere Brothers - Boom Boom Boom LA Style - James Brown Is Dead 740 Boyz - Shimmy Shake Capella - Move On Baby Tag Team - Whoomp (There It Is) 2 Unlimited - Tribal Dance Corona - Rhythm Of The Night Robert Miles - Children Scoop - Drop It Speedy J - Pullover The Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up T.O.F. - Funk It Up E-Type - Angels Crying Ramirez - Bomba System F - Out Of The Blue Leila K - Open Sesame Ramirez - El Galinero 2 Unlimited - No Limit Scatman John - Scatman's World Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - Live At London The Prodigy - No Good (Start The Dance) Captain Hollywood Project - Flying High U96 - Heaven Mark 'Oh - Randy (Never Stop That Feeling) Interactive - Forever Young Captain Hollywood Project - Find Another Way Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - Together In Wonderland Marusha - Somewhere Over The Rainbow Scooter - Move Your Ass! Nostalgia galore! This is exactly the kind of music I listened to when I was a wee lad. A small Dutchman. I was 7 when the 90s started, and 17 when it ended. So basically most of my teen years were in the 90s. The tracks are good. Some are bad. Come on, we have to acknowledge that some were just bad. I would still listen to them, but I wouldn't ask a DJ to play this for me. But it's nice to hear a mix containing a shit ton of records, and all in random order. That must have been a difficult task to mix together. So many great memories appeared whilst listening to this mix. And shame as well. Shame due to the fact that a few aren't played that often. My favourites are 'Drop It' by Scoop, 'Feeling So Real' by Moby, and one you wouldn't expect from me: 'Randy' by Mark 'Oh. The mix is good, but it sounds like a bit of a struggle to beat match each record. It's not completely flawless, but still highly enjoyable. I would still advice you to listen to this mix. It will enlighten your Sunday spirit, and will give you enough energy to raise your middle finger to the upcoming Monday, and say 'fuck it'. - Abraxas - Radio 100 Amsterdam - 1994
Let me make one thing clear: I might be from the Netherlands, but I am certainly NOT from Amsterdam, like everyone thinks I am. There are more places than just A'dam, to be fair. And I lived miles away from the capitol of the Netherlands, namely Heerlen in Limburg, Probably one of the least exciting city in the whole of the Netherlands. We do not have as much as the rest of the Netherlands. OK, enough down talking of my birth place, let's talk about the mix, which is obviously focussed on something that is A'dam related. If you were alive and kicking during the 90s, you all know Flamman & Abraxas. This duo has made some classic Hardcore anthems, most known obviously being 'Drugs', 'Good To Go', 'I Need Love', 'I'll Be Your Only Friend' , and they were also known in the House/Dance scene by their other name Fierce Ruling Diva. But back in 1994 I had not heard of them before, 'Drugs' was released back in 1995. I always thought that they were both from A'dam, but Abraxas was a DJ from New York, who moved to A'dam. And back in 1994 he made this mix for Radio 100 Amsterdam, a pirate radio station I have never heard of. Again, I wasn't from the capital of the Netherlands, and pirate radio station wasn't widely available. I don't even know if he did it live on air, or he pre-recorded it. But this mix was broadcasted back in 1994 on this pirate radio station, that's for sure. The tracklist is what you should be interested in. So here it is: King Dale - Fuckface (Original Idea Mix) Bodylotion - Fuck The Remix King Dale - Utter (Reyes/Van Dale Remix) Predator - Mind Of A Lunatic The Cybernators - Funky Tales Predator - 1-2-3-4 !!! The Cybernators - Ridiculous Lyrics Lockjaw - Ruff 'N Ruggin' Bodylotion - Rock Until The End DJ Limited - Arabsession The Scotchman - Oblivion DJ Limited - Devestading The Scotchman - Gatecrash 3 Steps Ahead - Hardcore The Scotchman - Bang The Drums Lenny Dee & Darrien Kelly - Shoom! Bodylotion - Mellow Moenie Mauwe Lenny Dee & Darrien Kelly - Move It ID - ID Lenny Dee & Darrien Kelly - Speedbump Rob Gee - Eeg Bor Dr. Mindfuck - It Is He (Who Commands You) ID - ID Rob Gee - Gabber Up Your Ass Critical Mass - Psychotic Break This is a tracklist and a half! Fuck me sideways, this is good. A lot of forgotten tracks, some you will only hear once every blue Moon. But it also contained a few big anthems, and probably the worst Hardcore track ever made. I'll talk about that in a minute. Fuck it, I'll talk about it now. 'Fuckface'. I never understood the fascination about this track at all. Never. I find it the most obnoxious and most boring Hardcore track ever made. Sorry Abraxas, really don't like your first record of your set. But that's basically the only record I dislike. All the others are hard as fuck, and rough. Hardcore sounded so different back in 1994 and years prior to this. Who would expect Critical Mass to become Happy Hardcore's biggest contributor? So many things have changed after 1994, it has gone too quickly and too fast, and I hate it. Wish I could go back to 1994. Abraxas' mix was brought to my attention by magpie303, the usual place for everything Hardcore related on Soundcloud. And even though the mix starts off with the worst anthem ever, it still packs a punch. Abraxas' mix is spot on, with a lot of wicked anthems, but the mixing sometimes isn't. But that's OK, it's still 1994, so don't expect high quality mixes like DJs do nowadays. Vinyl and turntables, that's what they had back then. Still impressive though to get a mix to sound like this. I really like this mix. Worth checking out right now! And obviously it contains my favourite anthem of all time 'Mind Of A Lunatic'. Who dislikes this is an absolute arsehole! - Erotic Sentimentalism Broadcast (2020)
It's Wednesday, and I'm off. This week is my holiday week. I was going to get married to my fiancee, but then COVID came around the corner and destroyed everyone's plans. Including mine, which is obviously a bummer, especially for the wife. She has to now wait another year before she can be my wife. But hey ho, at least we have our health, and we have our jobs. And now I'm sitting here, during my 'wedding week' off. So what is it that I do during this week? Well, not get married, that's for sure. But chilling, enjoying life, and I will fire up the PS4, to release myself completely. But what else? Well, seeing as you are reading a review, listening to music. And the mix I'm listening to and you are reading about, has been on constantly since the early hours of this morning. Fusco's mix. Here's the thing. I am not sure who Fusco is, but I am following him on Soundcloud. Maybe he posted a mix once I liked, but I cannot remember me reviewing one of his mixes. But my mind could also be damaged from all those years partying. What also spiked my enthusiasm was the name of the mix. 'Erotic Sentimentalism Broadcast'. Now those are three words together you would never expect to hear. This Colombian based label is a complete mystery to me. Maybe it's because I'm not delved into a world of music and erotica. Fusco was asked to fabricate this Industrial Hardcore styled mix, and without knowing the ins and outs of the Erotic Sentimentalism Broadcast, the mix itself is bloody good. So it's time for us to glance at the tracklist, and witness all the tracks used by Fusco. Ghost In The Machine - Terminus (Original Mix) Remco Beekwilder - Rave Mood (Original Mix) Dave Delta - Its Coming Dax J & UVB - Murder Wave Cubic Nomad & Fracture 4 - Fading (Original Mix) Inhalt Der Nacht & Echoes Of October - Beutezug Somniac One - Siberian Tigot Mindustries - Death Rattle (Original Mix) The Outside Agency & Ophidian - Church Of The Silence Armageddon Project - Beat Conductor Catscan - WOIII KRTM & Tripped - F%%cking Zutsu A very big mix, if I have to say so. But it is true. Lovely Industrial Hardcore on this Wednesday morning. You will all love it. But would I consider it to be erotic? Sexy? Well, Hardcore in general does turn me on slightly, so yeah. Fusco's mix is tight. And I really enjoyed every second of it. Even though I do follow him, I cannot recollect the last time I heard anything from him. But at least I'm checking out his latest mix, and it's a good one. Solid. Good track choice. And sexy, oh yeah, sexy. I will certainly check out the other tracks and mixes he might have on his page, but for now I will keep this mix on a loop for the rest of the day. Really feeling the Industrial vibes today. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this mix. Not one single bit. All the records are wicked, especially 'Fading', and they are mixed together beautifully. Good choice to have Fusco create this mix for the Erotic Sentimentalism Broadcast. Hardcore is inevitably sexy. - TBY's Early Hardstyle Tribute To All My Fans - Summer 2013
It's my birthday, and I'm doing reviews. That's not something special, isn't it? A birthday isn't that special. What is special, is to make a mix for your loyal fans. A 100 minute long mix, filled with 21 of your biggest anthems from the early days of Hardstyle. Now that's an achievement. And a nice thing to listen to on my birthday. As you are all aware, I do love myself some early Hardstyle, and Technoboy's 2013 mix is exactly what I wanted to hear. And with amazing statistics in regards to plays, I am sure that you have already checked it out within the last 7 years. 299k plays so far, and counting. I don't know if I've come across a Hardstyle mix with nearly 300.000 plays on Soundcloud so far, especially one that's focussed on the early stuff. It has a shit ton of reactions, and people love it. Including myself, of course. Everything early is always good, be it Hardstyle or Hardcore or whatever harder style you are referring to. Hence why Technoboy's mix comes in handy. His mix contains the finest of the finest anthems. You will immediately be teleported back into the days, and you will miss this unique and refreshing sound. Such a different world Hardstyle was in back then, and if you compare it to the present day Hardstyle, they are like two different styles. It's this ongoing debate as if you like the early or the newer Hardstyle. And for me the answer is like a walk in the park; dead easy. I like the present day sound, but the early sound is what got me into Hardstyle in the first place. So my answer is obvious. So let's see what Technoboy has crammed into this dedication mix. You will smile for miles, trust me. Builders - Bad Manners (Luca Antolini DJ Mix) Tuneboy - Dirty (DJ Stardust Remix) i The KGB's - The Disco Fan (Hardstyle Girl Mix) TNT - Freakuency (Technoboy & Tuneboy Mix) Tuneboy - Sexbusters (Technoboy Remix) Technoboy - War Machine (2005 Remix) Tuneboy - Money Talks Bullshit Walks (Hardstyle Masterz Remix) The KGB's - Infinity TNT - Second Match (Original TNT Mix) Technoboy - Into Deep Builder - Her Voice (Super Bass Mix) Dark Oscillators - Nero Hardstyle Masterz feat Max Enforcer - Light Of The Dark (The Blackout Mix) Technoboy - Vita The KGB's - Fahrenheit (Technoboy Remix) The Nasty Boyz - Angel (Hardstyle Masterz Cut) The KGB's - Superdisco (Technoboy Remix) Tuneboy - Wackyjackie (Technoboy Remix) Technoboy - Rage (A Hardstyle Song) Tuneboy - I Will Grow! 2 Best Enemies - Phases (TBY Romantic Mix) Proper oldskool vibes, ladies and gentlemen! I do remember buying literally every album under the Sun, all focussed on Hardstyle. I was such a music whore back then, I absorbed everything like a sponge. And Technoboy's tunes were a nice welcome back then. He's made some wicked records, he really did. This mix has been received well by the listeners, and by TCD. I am really impressed and loving the early vibes. This takes me back to the days when Hardcore was a bit 'meh' and I needed something else to replace my love for the rougher sounds. Hardstyle it was, and still remains in my top 10 of favourite styles of all time. I can only give Technoboy credit for his amazing mix. No negative feedback, only positive. It's been mixed beautifully, and the records are top notch. But which record stands out, which one gets me going the most? The KGB's 'Fahrenheit', remixed by Technoboy. I simply adore this record since the first time I heard it back in the day. 'Rage' is also a good anthem, or 'Her Voice, but 'Fahrenheit' is simply the best. Check this mix out if you haven't already. If you love Hardstyle, you will love this mix too! - Ruffneck vs Gangsta Alliance - Ground Zero Festival 2019
Yesterday the world's largest night event would have taken place, Ground Zero, but COVID being a bitch, obviously a lot has changed. So events got postponed, and now we are waiting for the all clear to get out again and start raving through the night. The best thing we can do is reminisce, and hope that our future is looking brighter and not as bleak as it is now. We will surely prevail, and we will rave again. Maybe with the new 'standard' being the normal way of raving, but we do need to rave again. We need to get some fresh air and kick COVID to death. Fuck COVID. Looking back at last year's edition, I found a set online. One you might really fancy. A Ruffneck vs Gangsta Alliance liveset from Ground Zero. Now that's a set you would need to hear, if you haven't already. We all know and love the distinctive Ruffneck sound, and during this set you will hear a lot of those memorable and wicked tunes that made Ruffneck a household name in the Hardcore scene. A 50 minute long set, that's kind of short, but it's long enough to get our daily Hardcore fixture. One we are desperate for. So what can you expect? Are you stupid? Don't you know what Ruffneck and the Gangsta Alliance are capable of? You will hear the finest Hardcore anthems. But with a twist. Trust me though when I say that you will feel nostalgic, and want to play your older CDs again, but you are dreading it, seeing as they are covered in thousands of unrepairable scratches. So yes, you will feel happy and enlightened after. Here's the tracklist for the true Artcore fanatics! DJ Nosferatu - Human Experiments Da Predator - Wild Stylz Nosferatu - Turntable Action Juggernaut - Got 2B A Ruffneck Wedlock - I'm The Fuck You Man Syphax - The Signal Zenith - Flowers Of Intelligence Lancinhouse meets Stunned Guys - Fuckin' Sweat Lock Jaw - Crazy Jungle ID - ID ID - ID Trickster - White Line Nosferatu - Insperation Vibes Da Predator - Final Confrontation Knightvision - Who Is It? I am really curious on what the names of these songs are, but not really sure. I know the songs, but my memory always goes blank. Yes, now you've found out why I always ask for tracklists. I am shit in remembering songs. I do know the actual songs, not the titles. These 50 minutes have flown by. Fucking epic music. There's no denying that Ruffneck vs Gangsta Alliance know what they are doing, and they do bring the music to the masses. I wish I was there, at Ground Zero, hearing these anthems. That would have been great. It's one of those events I've never been to, but would really like to visit it. Maybe next year, eh? Who knows? You wouldn't expect me saying the following, but the one track that captured my attention was DJ Isaac's 'Bad Dreams'. Why? Well, because this is the first time I hear Kate Bush in the song. I knew they were her vocals, but they have always been sped up. This is the first time it goes down to Kate Bush's already high pitched level, and it's a nice addition to this track. Catchy track. A nice set. Short but sweet. With damn good anthems. Let's fucking end this Sunday with a bang. And why not let Ruffneck and Gangsta Alliance wake you the fuck up!? - Steve Dekay - Transmission Live (Home Edition) (2020)
It's Saturday, and I'm having a good day. I went to my local car dealer to have the car serviced, and whilst I had to wait, I decided to do some work on my laptop. Not very exciting so far, I fully understand that, but here comes the good bit: seeing as the service I had carried out was for me to wait until it was done, I had a few hours spare, and I decided to do some work whilst listening to music. Now that's an epic combination, especially when the music is damn good. And the set you are about to listen to is certainly that! The one thing that amazed me about Steve Dekay's set is the amount of wicked tunes he has put in it. An hour and 23 minutes of pure Trance music. All live. Sadly not recorded at the actual event, but more like we are used to nowadays: from all over the world, but not where we would like to see it. But that's OK, at least we are getting our music fix. And Steve is the right man to take me into another dimension. I was aware of his music after I purchased Rielism Volume Four, and his track 'Nyctophilia'. That track just blew me away. And now I am indulging myself into his world. And it's going to be a good one. This Colombian producer is one that you need to be aware of: he has even made it onto Paul Van Dyk's tenth studio album! Now how about that? That's something special, isn't it? To work with a Trance legend. Paul Van fucking Dyk! So let's dive straight into the tracklist, and be ready for nearly an hour and a half of pure pleasure! Nikolauss & Starpicker - Arya Steve Dekay & Vision X - Endurance (Extended Mix) Darren Porter - Spellbound (ID Remix) Steve Dekay & Emanuele Congeddu - Origami (Extended Mix) Steve Dekay & Emanuele Congeddu - Astral (Extended Mix) Steve Dekay - Sublime (Extended Mix) Allen Watts & Steve Dekay - Hologram (Extended Mix) Giuseppe Ottaviani - Colours (Extended Mix) Andrew Rayel - Dark Warrior (Chris Schweizer Extended Remix) Armin Van Buuren - In And Out Of Love vs Meteora vs Raw Deal (Mashup) BiXX - Yes I Can (Extended Mix) Steve Dekay - Labyrinth (Extended Mix) Steve Dekay & H.M.B.L. - ID Steve Dekay - Atom (Extended Mix) Th3 Drop - Drop The Bass (Extended Mix) Allen Watts & Steve Dekay - The Phuture (Extended Mix) Steve Dekay vs AvB vs Sophie Ellis Bextor - Radhe vs not Giving Up On Love (Extended Mashup 2) Steve Dekay with Cari - ID Chris Schweizer - Near The End Of A Big Sky (PHOENIX Mashup) Key 4050 vs Delerium feat Sarah McLachlan - Exposure Of Silence (PHOENIX Mashup) Paul Van Dyk & Steve Dekay - Aurora (Extended Mix) I have been pleasantly surprised by this mix. Flawless, and the tunes are bloody excellent! But one track stood out from all the others. Why you might say? Well, because it's one epic and truly astonishing tune. As good, no, even better than Nyctophilia, and that tune I really loved a LOT. If you weren't aware of Steve Dekay, you will be right now. This mix is filled with his tunes, and have I mentioned that he has made a tune with Paul Van Dyk? Righto, let's move on. The mix was live recorded, and it has been an absolute bliss. I was listening to this multiple times today, especially when I was sitting at the car dealership. No one knew what I was listening to, but I couldn't care less. Mask on, Trance on. That's my motto right now. OK, OK, you are waiting for me to answer which record was the absolute best. Well, fuck it, it has got to be 'Hologram' by Allen Watts & Steve Dekay. Truly an astonishing record. My favourite Trance record of 2020. Steve Dekay, you are a legend! I have to say that Steve has done a brilliant job, and is on the rise. Someone you will certainly need to look and listen out for. So, make sure you check out his Transmission's set, and don't wait too long, like I've done with finishing this review (it's now Sunday). - A.B Tracks Mixed By Cyrax (2020)
''Kids, let me tell you a story. The story is about a beautiful princess called A.B, who lived in a purple studio, and had a label called Stamina Records. The princess made beautiful Freeform music, and lived happily ever.'' Kind of a boring story, isn't it? Firstly, he's not a princess. He's a GOD. Secondly, he has done so much for the scene, and he goes mostly under the radar. He does have his own label called Stamina Records, and his studio is purple, but don't just brush him off as being 'another producer'. He's certainly a magician behind his studio set up. He's a legend. I wouldn't say the same about Cyrax. He's so and so. He's alright. He's rocking a nice jacket though. Just look at the picture. Isn't he a handsome bloke? Don't assume that because of his funny videos and memes he's just a fool. He's more than just a fool. He's like me, a Freeform fanatic! The most underrated music genre in the whole world, besides Monopolynesian Drum Band Bass Cannon House. But on a serious note, we know that Freeform is underrated, and I fucking hate that no one recognises it for its true potential. Only the die-hard fanatics do know its power. I simply don't get it. It's Trancey, it's hard, why isn't this on the big stage? Why are we not hearing this literally everywhere? Well, maybe the appeal is that it's still underground, and everything underground is sexy. But I wish that A.B gets the recognition for what he does. His music is so heavenly, awe inspiring, and so damn good. Don't think I'm saying that every other producer in the scene is horse shite, but come on, A.B is another league on his own. I am going to say it: he is Freeform. There, I've said it. Freeform fans, come at me, bro! The Freeform fans know what I am saying. All PLUR. I do have a lot of respect for those making Freeform. And it's good that A.B gets recognised for his awesome producing skills, be it in the Trance scene. He's such a talented producer, and I understand why Cyrax made this nearly 2 hour long mix. And the fact that he was bored. That could be a reason? Let's dive straight into the mix. No faffing around. Here are all the tracks: A.B & Solution - Naneater (HU Intro Mix) A.B - Qube A.B & Kevin Energy - Samsara A.B & Cyrax - Binary Star A.B & Finnbarr - The Cabal A.B - Shudder A.B & Douglas - WDWWW PeRCePTioN - Kill Zone (A,B's 'FFWD 2 RWD' Remix) A.B - This (Transcend & Cyrax Disco Mode Remix) Harry H & Equilibrium - Anything Is Possible (A.B's Rockstar Intro Remix) A.B vs Metrix - Feels So Good (Jakka-B Remix) A.B - Unproven Technology Kevin Energy, Sharkey & K Complex - The Baptism (A.B & Amplitude Remix) Cyrax vs A.B - Chronosphere A.B - Back From The Dead A.B - Awaken A.B vs Freedom - Bloodline A.B - Tekno1 Rikki Arkitech - Shadow Of a Memory (A.B Remix) Douglas feat Dionne - Air (A.B Remix) A,B & Amplitude - Thinking Machine (Douglas Remix) A,B - Kielo A.B & Nick235 feat Rhona - Silence A Prayer (Substanced Remix) A,B - Infatuation A.B - Carburettor Kevin Energy & A.B - Piranha A.B - Phoenix Aeternity - Solar Fields (A,B Remix) A.B & Douglas vs DJ Ned (CLSM) - Hold On A.B - Relax A.B - Crowd Geoff A.B & Amplitude - Mambo Gammer & Re-Con - Enya Stomp (A,B & Douglas Remix) Douglas - Principia Mathematica (A.B's Progressive Underground Remix) Lumina8 - Pretty Eyes (A.B Remix) A.B & Synthwulf - The Cleansing DJ Neon - Tribute (A.B Remix) A.B & Douglas - TIWWA Mooney & Ollie feat Kimberly vs A.B - Turn It Up Flame & K Complex feat Louise Davies - Allure (A,B's C.O.T. Remix) A.B vs Finnbarr - Stick Together Transcend - Domination (A.B & Synthwulf Remix) Transcend & Douglas - Massenya (A.B's Hardcore! Remix) If this doesn't give you an erection, are you even Freeform, bro? Do you even lift bro? Are you swole? Fucking hell, I don't even know what I'm saying, I'm trying to stay down with the kids, but I am certainly not in their age gap. I'm old. I have mentioned it above, but I'm going to say it again: A.B is a GOD. My God, the amount of awesome tracks, is just beyond me how he keeps making them. It's like everything he touches turns into gold. Or something else. But his studio must be super awesome, if he makes these fucking epic anthems in there constantly. No wonder Stamina Records is such a fantastic label. A.B, he is a GOD. I can talk for hours and hours about each individual track, but I won't. I have to give Cyrax some credit for making this mix. Really good effort of him to make others aware of this epic producer. And he has succeeded with this mix. It's really entertaining, and it keeps my blood pumping fast, and hard. My heart beat is equal to the BPMs of this mix. Fuck me, we need more of these mixes. We do need a 'Best Of A.B' CD. Come on people. Let's make sure it happens. The tracks are all good. No word of a lie. Some even better. But there's one that stands out above all the rest, by a mile. And it's the best ever Freeform anthem EVER: 'This' by A.B, remixed by Transcend and bloody Cyrax! And I'm not saying that because he made this mix. This is genuinely the best record I've ever heard, and I can listen to it over and over, and it still doesn't get boring. Worth checking out Stamina Records, A.B, and of course Cyrax. This mix will certainly pleasure you. It's filled with A.B, and who doesn't like a bit of A.B? - DJ Casketkrusher - Thunderdome: "The Ear Damaging Megamix" (Mix 1) (2020)
The year is 2012. DJ Casketkrusher was awake on the 8th of September, and he decided to create this new mix. Seeing as he loves his mixes, he thought he would make one focussed on probably the most recognisable label in the whole Hardcore universe: Thunderdome / ID&T. And knowing Casketkrusher, he picked the finest anthems from the early years of Thunderdome, and crammed them into a 72 minute long mix. And now, back to the present year, 2020, and our pandemic. We can't rave, we have to stay indoors, and I just felt the urge to hear a Thunderdome megamix. I have reviewed his previous second instalment mix before back in 2018, and now it's time to check out the first mix he made 8 years ago. The previously reviewed mix contained the wicked anthems, and I really loved it. I gave it 5 out of 5 stars. And now it's time to listen to the mix. The originator. The original. The first of its kind. Well, not in the Hardcore universe, but in the Casketkrusher universe. He has made plenty of mixes in his DJ career lifespan, but a Thunderdome mix always gets a lot of attention, and praises. But it all depends on if the mix is any good. I've come across the usually 'crap' mixes and mixes by DJs who didn't even make it themselves. They used an already existing Thunderdome mix and called it their own. SMH. In this 72 minute long mix you can find the finest of the finest anthems. Some forgotten. Some overhyped. Some just awesome, and some OK-ish. But what you do get is a flashback to the good days of Hardcore. The innocent years. So which anthems did Casketkrusher use for his first 'Thunderdome' megamix? Well, these: Megamix: Intro (Welcome... To Another Edition Of Thunderdome) DJ Sim - Cartoons In Progress (Original Mix) Tony Salmonelli - Hey! (Buzzy's Ragga Mix) DJ Dano - Parade Of Love El Bruto - Hypnotizing DJ Gizmo - Rescue Section 8 - Punnany (The Prophet Remix) Dance Overdose - Wake Up To The Overdose (The Marc Smith Notorious Mix) The Prophet - Warrior (Original Mix) Club X - Don't Deny The Beat Bass Generator - The Event (Can I Have A Lime Top In My Shandy Andy Mix?) Q-Tex - Equazion Part IV DJ Isaac - Bad Dreams (Remix) Tripax - What The Fuck Are You Laughing At? Jean Sibart & Joel Trambel - Right Is Wrong Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - Ultimate Sextrack DJ Weirdo & DJ Sim - Kick This Muthaf#@ka! Wasting Program - Bring That Shit Back (DJ Buzz Fuzz Remix) Nitrogen - Bad Bwoy Ectomorph - Mindblower Hard Attack - Bonehead Marc Smith - Pump Up The Noize (Raid Mix) Bass-D & King Matthew - The Witch Bunkor Beats - This Is Wicked|! The Nerds - Are Back Body Lotion - Happy Is Voor Hobo's DJ Promo - Boomin' Out The Box Ectomorph - Totally Computerized T.N.T. - Kiss The Ground Masters Of Ceremony - Hardcore To Da Bone (Masters Of Ceremony Dope Mix) Darrien Kelly vs Attic & Stylzz - Beaten Like A Bitch! DJ E-Rick & Tactic - Rocked Da House General Noise - Hey, Mr DJ! DJ Weirdo & DJ Sim - It's Gonna be Allright! Unsatisfied Evil - Bad Creations Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo - Live At London (Hardcore Mix) Tellurian - Squash The Floor Turbolenza - I Am The Creator (Future Mix) Lady Dana, DJ Skorp & Chronotrigger - Devistading Rhythm DJ Delirium & Da Grimreaper - Speakerblower S.V.E.N. - Cranium Accelleration Mutoid - The Necronomicon (DJ Buzz Fuzz Mix) Undercover Anarchist - Kingdom (CD Version) Nightstalkers - Warehouse Beats Ramirez - Apocalixis (Placid K Remix) Renata Ricciardi - Return Of A Looney (DJ Jordens Mix) 50% Of The Dreamteam - Bullshit The Prophet - Spiral Psylocke - New Day Baba Nation - Jesus Words Megamix: Outro (Thunderdome, Then It's Your Choice) As expected Casketkrusher made it into a festive mix. No, I'm not fucking saying he has mixed all Christmassy songs or jingle bells into the mix, but he has made the mix cheerful. Reminiscing the past by hearing these anthems. And boy, they are good. Some of these records I completely forgotten about! Yes, I know, I shouldn't forget these classics, but it's not like I only listen to Thunderdome CDs 24/7. I wish I could, but I reckon it would drive me completely mad. I am not 18 anymore. There are plenty of awesome records to choose from. I cannot just pick one anthem which is my favourite one, but I had to pick a handful: 'Return Of A Looney' by Renata Ricciardi, DJ Gizmo's 'Rescue','Bullshit' by 50% Of The Dreamteam, Masters Of Ceremony's 'Hardcore To Da Bone'... I could just go on for hours. Good selection mr Casketkrusher. As good as the tracklist is, the mix itself contains a few errors, more than I am used to hear from Casketkrusher. Like, a lot more lol. And it's kind of unexpected. I know he has the skills and potential to become a very great DJ, but maybe in 2012 he was still 'learning'? It's not as smooth as I'd wished it was. He has defiantly mastered that to be fair. But as good as I wished it was, it's not perfect. A good mix nonetheless, but not Casketkrusher's finest. Still worth listening to, don't get me wrong. - A.C.R. Allstyle Core Records Podcast #111 Mixed By Emphases (2020)
It's Saturday, the weekend has landed. And let's start the weekend slightly harder and faster, eh? So, I've found a set you all might enjoy. An Early Terror set. Mixed by Emphases. I've never heard of Emphases before, nor the Allstyle Core Records podcast, but seeing as they already have reached the 111th podcast, it's time for me to indulge myself into their world. And this Early Terror is a good way to wake up on this windy and very miserable Saturday morning. So, what can I say about this mix that I haven't said already? Well, nothing much. It contains Early Terror focussed anthems, fairly new records, and it's mixed by Emphases. That's all I know so far. I do recognise a few of the names used in this mix, but to be fair, Early Terror isn't a style that crops up that often. Only once every blue Moon. And that's a rarity. But the main focus of this mix is to get you moving, and Emphases has certainly done that. You are not going to sit still when you start listening to this mix. Let's see what's in this hour long mix. Reeza - Hit The Decks Reeza - The Sanctity Of Life Not A DJ vs GiZwO - Don't Like You Rottencore - Multiverse Not A DJ - Aura Q L-Neon - Everything I Do Is Illegal Not A DJ vs Ninetysix - The Morning After Reeza - Something Like This Hellcreator & Acidious - A Galaxy Odyssey Redlock vs Immutek vs Paradox - Masterpiece Hellcreator & Acidious - Lost On Eden Redlock - Scream Ninetysix - I Could Dance Forever Enforex - Secret Of Life Redlock - Get Loud Starbanger - Defenders (Speedfolter & Xearo Remix) Hellcreator - Don't Fuck With Me Reeza - Mad Jaw Hellcreator & Tantulum - Intruder Alert The Hitman - Drop One Hyperactive D - The Age Of God Redlock - Hit It GiZwO - Covid-19 DJ Købe - Tribute To 90's (Part II) Not A DJ - The Real Psycho Reeza - Immortal Kombat I've seen a few of these names before, and I've to say that I'm really impressed. The Early Terror sound, alive and kicking in 2020. Some records do have a bit of everything, not just Early Terror, but also a bit of Artcore and Gabber. But you won't be bothered about that too much. You really shouldn't care. The BPMs are fast enough to be compared to the early sound. Emphases has made this podcast mix, and I'm really pleased to have found it. And it also underlines the capabilities of the artist Reeza. Whoever he/she is, I love their style and approach. Reeza captured the early sound flawlessly. I am impressed, and in awe with Reeza's style. The mix is tight, and I hugely recommend this to everyone who likes a bit of the early sound. Not fully Early Terror, but who gives a crap? Just worth checking out, and play it over and over. I've woken up a couple of hours ago, and already listened to this 4 times in a row. It's that intoxicating! Well, a short and sweet review. Thanks Emphases for this mix. I'll certainly check you and Allstyle Core's other podcasts too! - Exclusive Interview with M@rt!n-J - TCDReview (2020)
We are honoured to speak to one of the contributors of our website, a regular, someone who keeps on making mixes, and is an online source for everything music related. A music fanatic, and a die hard UK Hardcore fan. Someone who has got music running through his veins. Today we will speak to the one and only DJ M@rt!n-J! Hey M@rt!n-J, how are you doing, how’s life at the moment? "Hey, Yes I am doing great at the moment. Thanks for having me :) " Tell us a bit about yourself, how you started, when you started DJing, and the main question: why? "My name is Martin (you probably already guessed that!), I live in the North East of England. I collected all the Bonkers CDs around 2003/2004 and I thought I wanted to try DJing! I can't say 100% why I wanted to do it lol." Who influenced you into become a DJ? And why? "I have to say Scott Brown! The guy is a legend! He is one of my heroes in the Hardcore scene." According to your Soundcloud biography, you are a UK Hardcore/Freeform and Gabber DJ. Well, those are the main styles you focus on. Can you describe your love for each style, and why it’s so appealing to you? "For UK Hardcore i like the melodies, chords & riff's, just something about UK Hardcore that other genres do not have, When it changed from around 1999/2000 into a more Trancey style that is when I realised this is what I love! With Freeform again it's the Trance elements that I love about it. I didn't really know much about Dutch Hardcore until I started hearing Scott Brown sets (so we have him to thanks for that lol). I just love the crazy kicks they use and it can also be very melodic." If you had to choose one out of the three styles described, which one would be your favourite, and why? "I would have to say UK Hardcore, for the reasons I mentioned before." On Soundcloud we can find a lot of appreciation mixes, like the Fracus & Darwin mix, Eufeion’s mix, Stamina Records’ mix, Evolution Records, Essential Platinum, Bonkers, and the list just goes on and on. Why is that your cup of tea? And why should people check your mixes out, compared to other dedication mixes? "I love to buy music in bundles, it's much easier, I don't really like searching through Beatport, Juno or what ever as it can be very time consuming. Why listen to my mixes?...I haven't got an answer to be honest lol...check them out, you might enjoy them!" You’ve got plenty of material on Soundcloud, and I’m going to ask you a very difficult question, you might not be able to answer it, but please, be PC about this, but what’s your opinion about pineapple on pizza? Hell yes, or hell no? "HELL NO!!!" Serious though, if you had to pick three mixes, which ones would be your most favourites ones, and explain the reasoning as to why these are your best ones. "I enjoyed doing my recent Fracus & Darwin mix (Point Of No Return). I love their sound and it can be a joy to mix their productions! I like the Finnbarr mix I did, very talented guy by the way. I liked the UK Hardcore mix I did from the 2003 era, great memories!" To me, the legendary blogger (*ahum*), it is always amazing to get feedback from the reviews, and the bigger the artist, the better (obviously). Have you ever received feedback from the artists running the labels, and how has it been? "I once got great feedback from Scott Devotion, used a few of his tunes in a mix, Think I called it "Come Into My Dreams". He was very supportive and a nice guy!" Ever had negative feedback, and was it a genuine complaint? How did you deal with it? "Never, only positive complaints so far." Not only a DJ, but also a producer. You have also had a few released on a few labels. Who inspired you to produce records, and is there a specific goal you try to reach with each record? "Again Scott Brown, Hixxy, Brisk, Fracus & Darwin, Breeze & Styles, Kevin Energy....it could go on lol." What kind of equipment do you use for your mixes, and for producing? "Currently I am using Pioneer DJ SB2, For productions FL Studio." If money wasn’t an option, and you had unlimited resources, what would you buy, equipment wise, and why? What would be your ultimate DJ set up? And if money would still be widely available, and you could organise your own party (how cool would that be?), who would you have as headliners? And explain your ultimate party, would we have MCs, dancers on stage, fireworks? "If money was no object then I would probably go for Pioneer DDJ-RX or XDJ-RR if I had the space for it lol. Off the top of my head I would book Scott Brown, Brisk, Kevin Energy, A.B, Hixxy, Sy & Neophyte just to spice things up! No MC's sorry!! Dancers on stage & fireworks would be great too!" Obviously you have done a lot already, but what does the future hold for M@rt!n-J? Any upcoming projects/events, etc? "Could be something in the works such as a label of some sort!" Who is the best blogger, and tell me why he’s great? (joke question of course). "Of course the one the only Crazy Dutchman!!" I always end the interview with a ‘thank you/appreciation’ section, but before we end, a quick fire round, a few silly questions (you don’t need to answer them of course). • Favourite football team Man Utd • Favourite colour Blue • Aldi, Lidl, or Asda? Asda • UK Hardcore, early, Millennium, or after? UK Hardcore • Favourite DJ / producer ever Scott Brown, I also used to like Gammer! • iOS or Android? Android! • Love or Hate the Teletubbies Hate • Feet, sexy or not? ??? OK, here’s the bit where you can say ‘thank you’ to anyone you want. Anyone that might have inspired you, or you are just grateful of. The mic is yours! "I would like to thank FunDaBounce for being a really nice guy!!" I would like to say a massive thank you to M@rt!n-J for this interview. The man has been on my radar for a few years now, and I have reviewed most of his mixes. To give you a taster of what he's got to offer to the Freeform, UK Hardcore and Gabber fans out there, he's three of the mixes he has mentioned before, to showcase his skills and dedication. Make sure you search for him on Social Media, to be updated whenever he uploads new mixes: M@rt!n-J - Facebook Page M@rt!n-J - Soundcloud Page M@rt!n-J - Discogs Page Thanks for this insightful interview, and keep on raving safely!
- XLR8R Podcast 488: Goldie (2017)
It's Sunday morning, not as hot as last week, the world is damp, and covered in fruit flies. It's dark, grey, and really cool. And I'm loving it. Well, not the flies, I can't stand them. But besides that, the unbearable heat from last week was too much. I'm sitting here, enjoying the cool weather. But it does get dark earlier, doesn't it? To match the world outside of our windows, let's play something nice, relaxing, cool, and dark (from time to time). And if you haven't guessed who made this mix by just looking at the image above or the actual title of this review... it's a Goldie mix. So you know immediately that it's going to be great. No, more epic. Yes, epic is the word I'm looking for. Goldie is an all-time Drum & Bass legend, and with the label Metalheadz have set the bar way up high for everyone. Quality over quantity. But it has come to fruition. Both the label and the artist have become a house hold name in the scene, linked to quality music, and excellent mixes. An interesting character this Goldie is, and if you've seen the few documentaties out there, or even read his biography (like I have), you know there's more to the man than meets the eye. But we can say one thing: he knows how to deliver. And I'm not talking about him delivering food, like Uber Eats or Deliveroo. I'm obviously talking about music. This man is gifted. A pioneer. We can think of many words to describe the man, but it's the legacy that he needs to maintain, which started back in the 90s. Not someone to fuck about with. Someone with a huge passion for Drum & Bass. He might not have been the originator of the style, but his influence in the scene has been tremendous, to say the least. So three years ago he made this mix for XLR8R. With nearly 30k plays, it's a well received mix. A lot of positive comments were written underneath the mix, and only today I discovered this mix. I do every so often just search the internet for anything Goldie related, so when I came across this mix, I just had to share it with those who haven't heard it yet. It's a banger. Trust me. Goldie - Prism Artificial Intelligence feat Dawn Wall - Fallen Calibre - Archive Artificial Intelligence - Justify (Philth Tangent Remix) Lenzman feat DRS - Just Can't Take Ivy Lab & Hydro feat Frank Carter III & Lucy Annika - Make It Clear Dub Phizix - Rotate Lenzman feat Steo - Golden Age Rufige Kru - Sometime_Sad_Day Mako, DLR, Villem & Ant TC2 - Hungry For Atmosphere Lenzman - Empty Promise Doc Scott - Far Away (2015 Remaster) Lenzman & FD - Joanie's Theme Goldie vs Ulterior Motive - I Adore You (Total Science Remix) I don't know why, but this kind of music suits the dreary outside world. But at the same time it lifts me up into another dimension. You either love it or hate it. You are or a massive Drum & Bass fan, or you hate it. And if you hate it, why are you still reading this? Go away, right now! I agree that this is yet another amazing Goldie mix. Seriously, someone, if you know of a shit Goldie mix, please comment below. But I've never come across a shit mix, made by the pioneer himself! It's like he gives every single mix 2000%. Sometimes artists do upload a mix which might sound boring or filled with errors, but not with Goldie. He always delivers. And with this XLR8R mix he proves to us all why he's an all-time legend. I've really enjoyed this set, and loved the calmness surrounding it. For those untrained ears who think Drum and Bass is just noise, it is certainly not 'just noise'. Every kick, every beat, every bass drum has a feeling in it. You need to capture it, open up to it. And certainly enjoy it. Close your eyes, and let Goldie take you on a magical journey! Which record is the best? It's the last of this mix. Why? Because I love the vocals. Whoever the vocalist is, your voice is that of an angel! I adore the one who sings 'I Adore You'. Truly breathtakingly gorgeous vocals. Another stunning mix. 3 years old, still fresh as if it was made yesterday. - Bonzai: The Classics Megamix (2019)
Imagine, it's the early 90s, music was changing, and Hardcore music was new, refreshing, and still developing. Within this newly formed sound, a lot of experimental sounds are created. It was not clear which direction it was heading to, but then there it was: Bonzai Records. The mighty label from Belgium. Among all the labels that emerged during the early years, this specific label has certainly left a mark on the scene. It became the go-to label for excellent music, not only Rave music, but also Trance music. Fast forward to 2019, a year before COVID-19 happened and fucked up right up. Jason S, the megamix master, decided to make this rather exquisite mix. Focussed on what, you might ask. Well, if that's not clear, I do need to ask you to go back to school. I am talking about Bonzai Records of course. He says that the mix contains a lot of Bonzai classic masterpieces, and he's certainly not lying. This label has released so many great, certainly memorable anthems. It's as much part of the raving scene as labels such as ID&T, Rotterdam Records, Masters Of Hardcore, Pengo, K.N.O.R. Records, Mokum Records, Master Maximum Records, Rave Records, Neophyte Records, 2B Free Records, and more. Bonzai certainly is part of this rich culture that we have. But you might be wondering how many tracks Jason S has selected for this mix? 100? 200? 300? Well, no. Only 46 records + an intro. And no 'crazy' edits. He let the music speak for itself, and the result is an amazing mix. A megamix, sure, but one that will stay in your head for so long, and for once you do hear each individual record, and you recognise each and every one of them. Looking at the tracklist, you wouldn't believe that these tracks were released between 1992 and 1995! And how fucking epic they truly are. Bonzai, we salute you! And so Jason S, for making yet another stunning megamix (does he actually ever stop?)... Jason S - Intro: It's Time To Go Back Mental Planet - Annihilating Rhythm (DJ Fly Mix) DJ Bountyhunter - Bountyhunter Cherry Moon Trax - Conflication Yves Deruyter - Calling Earth DJ Looney Tune - Beatbox (Tick Mix) DJ Bountyhunter - Urban Feelings Aqua Contact - La Sirena Repulsive 2 - Recactussed Yves Deruyter - Rave City (Cherry Mix) Cherry Moon Trax - Let There Be House Traxcalibur - The Dreamer Dreamland - Mind Penetration Zone 1 - Zebra Crossing Aqua Contact - Cinderella Techno Junkies - Entropy Step Cherry Moon Trax - The House Of House Phrenetic System - Wayfarer Mooneyes - Twilight Creatures Trancial-X-Tion - Dead Bodies (Remix) Belgica Wave Party - The Wave Yves Deruyter - ... Dream Your Dream - Mayday Dream If this isn't porn for you, then I don't know what you are into. This is truly an amazing mix, and it has probably the biggest Hardcore anthem of an entire generation. 'The First Rebirth', anyone? Jason S, you are again a super hero! This mix is truly astonishing. I never really realised how many anthems Bonzai Records released over the years. I am fully aware that Bonzai played a humongous part in the Trance scene, but in the Hardcore scene their impact has been equally as great. Don't underestimate the Belgians when it comes to great music. You can tell that they were going to be Trance masters. Every Hardcore track has got this distinctive sound to it. Hardcore and Trance combined. And it works beautifully. Sometimes it sounds happy, but when you need to rave hard, the Belgians know how to please the ravers. There are simply too many great anthems in here. Too many to absorb. But everyone assumes that I would pick the biggest record of Bonzai's history: but you are oh so wrong! It's their second instalment I truly adore more! 'The Second Rebirth' just brings everything together. And yes, it sounds so happy, but that heavenly bit just takes me into another dimension. But you might disagree with my opinion and choose a completely different anthem. The choice is yours. You've got 46 records to choose from. But please, do acknowledge the importance of Bonzai Records, and the importance of the great work Jason S is doing! - Partyraiser Millennium Hardcore Set @ Ghosttown 2014
Don't you sometimes wake up, and want to hear a specific sound or style? Well, it's too early to listen to Christmas music, so I had to take the next best thing: Millennium Hardcore. The style that I grew up with, and absolutely adored. As many of you will know, after nearly 10 years of reviewing, I do love me a bit of early and Millennium Hardcore. I grew up with it, and still love it. Many have moved on to the present day Hardcore, but I just stick with the early and 2000 sound. Can't believe it's already so many years old! Time flies when you are experiencing COVID-19, right? So, the next set I am about to share with you all is focussed on the Millennium sound. The 2000s, if you are too young to have remembered it. The years where we were wondering what the internet was going to bring. 20 years later the internet has become our lives, and has dominated literally everything. But thanks to the internet I am able to speak to you right now, and I can listen to excellent music every single day, without going to the shop, and having to buy albums. Not saying that I don't buy stuff, but you know what I mean. Instant music access, that's what's cool. Partyraiser does not need an introduction. He's well known in the Hardcore scene, mainly for his love and dedication to everything rough and tough. And you get exactly that during his 2014 set at Ghosttown. This Dungeon of Delusion had a lot in store, but so did the Partyraiser. All Millennium Hardcore anthems. From the most well known anthems to the obscure, hard, and incredibly tough anthems. That's what made this set so damn good, and well listened on Soundcloud. Now you are curious on what he has played? Here's the tracklist: Promo - Up Yours! Rexanthony - Gocoke D-Passion - Fuck The Free World Placid K - G Member Paul Elstak vs Tommyknocker - Danger Danger (Tommyknocker Mix) Meagashira - End Of Line G-Town Madness vs The Viper - Buck 'Em Down Tommyknocker - T-2002 Promo & DJ X-ess - Vicious Circle DJ Jappo & Lancinhouse - Exlxaxl (Neophyte & Evil Activities Remix) DJ Promo - Phreak Ya Speaka Tieum - Bitch Sexuality DJ Vince & DJ Zany - More Bazz E-Noid - Liquid Super D T-Factor - The Hardest Promo & Digital Boy - Serious Damage Fly By Wire - Alkaline 3dh (Catscan Remix) Partyraiser & Scrape Face - Dancing On Your Grave Vince & DJ Promo - Lyin' Through Your Teeth Radium vs Tieum - Goodbye ET Unexist - Liberate DJ Mad Dog & Noize Suppressor - Lost S.T.F.Y. DJ Nosferatu - The Desolate One Promo - Different breed Of Men (Meccano Twins Remix) Partyraiser & Triax - Assassins Scan 7 - You Have The Right (D-Passion Remix) Tieum - Dog Mixing Disco 2 DJ Nosferatu - The Prayer Neophyte - Recession (Hier En Daar Wat Opgekalefaterd Door The Relic) Noize Suppressor - Fingherz Angerfist - The Fast Lane Lenny Dee & Radium - Who's Next? SRB - Technical Malfunction Now to be fair, I've listened to this mix today more than humanly possible. That's because I had friends over, and I couldn't finish it. So I've had this on repeat constantly. So the stats might have gone up today, and that's just because of me. Couldn't care less if my friends liked it or not, I liked it. And that's all that matters. Normally, when I think of Millennium Hardcore, I think of the more melodic and euphoric side of Hardcore. Partyraiser did use a few of those anthems, but the majority of the anthems were fucking brutal. Hard as nails, that man is. And it gives the audience a wide variety of records in this hour and 26 minute mix. It goes from OK to hard very early in the mix, but yeah, we did also like our records slightly harder around the Millennium. Which records made my ears bleed the most? I have to say that it's Nosferatu's 'The Desolate One'. Simple, but yet truthfully effective. This gets any dancefloor to be blown into smithereens! I really liked this set, and hopefully you do to. Enjoy Partyraiser during his 2014 set of Ghosttown, as much as I have. More of this Millennium sound please!!! - Amaretto - Piano Hardcore Mix 0804 (2020)
Sunday should be a chill day, and to be fair, the weather is really good . A heat wave is happening all over the globe, and people are enjoying the heat. I am not. I hate the heat, I do love the cold temperature. Rain and cold? Yep, that's me. Hence why I am sitting indoors, next to a very expensive and noisy fan, just to stay out of the sun. And whilst doing that, I'm sitting here, enjoying the Breakbeat Hardcore tunes coming through my speakers. Life is great, yeah? The temperatures might be hot, but so is the music. We don't hear that style too often. But when we do, it's always great. And the good thing is, that it's music we all like. No one really dislikes it, right? Breakbeat Hardcore is sadly underrated, but oh so good. Piano anyone? If Mozart would have been alive right now, he would have been listening to Breakbeat Hardcore, trust me. The mix you are about to listen to, was made by Amaretto. I thought that this was an Italian drink of sorts, but it turns out it's a DJ. And due to COVID he couldn't play his set on the 2nd of August, at wherever the above location is (you can see it on the flyer). I am guessing Japan? But he made a mix to commemorate this uncertain and weird period in all of our lives, and to demonstrate his love for Breakbeat Hardcore. The tunes, are you ready for the tracklist? If you love Breakbeat, you will smile from ear to ear, seeing these names... Liquid Crystal - Radiate Luna-C - The Beats Shock Ramos & Supreme - Crowd Control X-Plode - Shock Out Innercore - M.O.T.O.S. Acen - Thrilla (Part 1) Ionosphere - Magic Piano Innercore feat Lilliana - Chequered Floor J.D.S. - Higher Love (Pete Cannon Remix) Wislov - Too Much Coffee Try Unity - True Desire Paul Bradley - Slip Stream Luna-C & Lowercase - Paino In Session Gold Soundz - I.Y.L.M. Amaretto - Don't Deal With Me NP Source - TCA DJ Deluxe - Pow! Jack In Box vs Fracus - Back To The Start (Breakbeat Mix) The music is good. What would you expect? It's bloody Breakbeat Hardcore. And I think the only reason I came across this mix, is because of my Greek friend, who keeps on reposting everything Breakbeat related. Otherwise I would have missed this awesome mix. Thanks Gl0wkid for this mix. Anyway, Amaretto. Not just a drink, but also a DJ. And this mix is really something special. I've really enjoyed this set a lot, and I do mean it. I've been listening to this mix over and over again over the last few hours, and it has literally been on my mind. The music is good, and the mixing is also spot on. Only credit for this DJ. Really enjoyed this mix. We need more of this. Now comes the easiest thing for me, the best track of this mix. And it has to be 'Crowd Control', an all time classic. Big anthem. So what are you waiting for? Go and check this mix out right NOW! - Marc Acardipane Live @The Thunderdome (Hardcore Stream 2020)
Only a handful days ago Thunderdome had their online stream presented to the world. With a short but killer line-up, the fans of the brand and the music were seriously treated to some nice Hardcore music. They were all only half an hour long sets, but anything by Ophidian, Nosferatu, N-Vitral, DRS, Drokz, and one of the godfathers of the sound, Marc Acardipane, is always a bliss. I couldn't listen: I was with the wife on a romantic trip to Eastbourne. Even though I could have tried, it would have ruined our lovely time together (she despises Hardcore music). But at least we can find the sets online. And the first one I found was the set by Marc Acardipane. The man, the legend, the Godfather, the man with a billion aliases. That's Marc. I did catch a glimpse of his set (be it 1 second), but wasn't it recorded in a famous Dutch prison? I simply forgot its name, but it was a famous prison. A good theme to be fair: the world is locked inside, and so are people in prisons. And hence the colours and images uploaded a week before on social media: all the artists were wearing prison outfits. Now let's get back Marc's set. His set is filled with the anthems you would expect from him. I know I might say something controversial right now, but here I go: Marc has created more dancefloor anthems than anyone else. His tunes are so catchy as fuck, and are a staple in the Hardcore history. And for his Thunderdome set he went all out, and picked the big ones. The big guns. You don't believe me? You know the artist, right? So check out the tracklist, and you will know each and every track, and they all bring a smile on your face. And they take you back to the golden years of Hardcore immediately. So, here's the tracklist, and please do not ejaculate all over your keyboard. Marc Acardipane feat Pilldriver - Awake In Neo Tokyo Marc Acardipane feat Marshall Masters - Stereo Murder Marc Acardipane feat Rave Creator - Bleep Blaster Marc Acardipane feat Marshall Masters & The Ultimate MC - Hustler For Life Marc Acardipane feat Rave Creator - A New Mind (Cold Rush Phuture Mix) Marc Acardipane feat Marshall Masters - Return To Zero (The Mysteryland Anthem) Marc Acardipane feat Rave Creator - Atmos-Fear Marc Acardipane feat 6-Pack - Drunken Piece Of Shit (Mix 1) Marc Acardipane feat Inferno Bros - Slaves To The Rave (PCP Mix) Marc Acardipane feat Nasty Django - Hardcore Muthafucka Marc Acardipane feat Turbulence - Six Million Ways To Die I told you that the tracklist would make you happy. And did it? Be honest, it fucking did. If it didn't, why the fuck are you still on planet Earth? No need for unhappy bunnies. Marc Acardipane is a fucking living legend, and you need to accept that. And his music is awesome. If life gives you lemons, take 'em, and appreciate them. At the moment we cannot go to raves, because of COVID-19, and we shouldn't risk it, we should try and stay alive. Fuck COVID-19. Maybe Marc can make a 2020 version of 'Six Million Ways To Die', and call it 'Six Million And One Way To Die'. We didn't have COVID-19 when the original anthem was made, right? It is a good set with bangers. The classics. The anthems that made Marc a household name in the scene. He's made billions of other wicked tracks, but he had to play these anthems. He just had to. And his set was only 30 minutes long, so it was kind of limited. He went for the big guns, and it was nice that he took us on a journey, a journey through his own creations. The mixing isn't as smooth as you would expect it, sometimes it jumps too quickly. But he's doing it live, so give him credit for it. And he's in a bloody prison, so another daunting environment that might affect his skills. But no matter what you think of the mix, it's still dope. This gets the highest score. Not only because it's a Thunderdome set, but because it's a Marc Acardipane set, and the records are awesome. Especially the Mysteryland anthem. Such an underrated anthem. Bring back the 90s equipment and start making music like they did back then. The music was way better! - M@rt!n-J - Point Of No Return (Redux) (2020)
The year is 2012. A lot of things happened during that year: the Queen's 60th Anniversary of her ascension, the Curiosity Rover landed on Mars, The Avengers is released in theatres, Hurricane Sandy caused mayhem in the US, Barack Obama was re-elected, and Fracus and Darwin released their 'Point Of No Return' album. A big year, but obviously not as big as 2020. And this masterpiece become such a desired album. 8 years later, people are still in love with their approach to UK Hardcore, and M@rt!n-J (yes, him!) made a dedication mix, as he normally does, with tracks from this legendary album. I cannot believe that this album is already 8 years old. I can't even remember what happened 8 hours ago. I did go to some raves, and one of them was HU's party in Vauxhall, London. Not a good 'pre' party for me and the missus: the roundabout literally drove me mad, I couldn't figure out which exit to take, drove 4 times over the Thames, and got really angry. The wife still reminds me of that 'wonderful' event. But once we got to the event, nothing could ruin the moment for me. I witnessed sets by artists such as F&D, Sc@r, Thumpa, Marc Smith, CLSM, Gavin G, Slipmatt, Brisk, and more. A year later I went to yet another rave, which had Fracus & Darwin on the line-up, and it was in a youth hostel thing in Belgium. It was fucking weird, but oh so cool. There weren't many people raving, but I was. I was stomping so hard on the floor, I might have caused the location to become a dangerous place: it might have collapsed. I was and still am a fan of Fracus and Darwin, and this 'Point Of No Return' album has always been one of my favourite albums ever, UK Hardcore related. This was their second album, and 3 more would follow. For a strange reason I have not purchased their last album, and I do not know why. Am I really a big fan then, eh? Well, I am. I love their music a lot. It can be quirky, oldskool Happy Hardcore-ish, or just damn dark Breakbeat Hardcore. You name it, they make it. Obviously they have done some solo work too, and it has been well received, but together it just seems to work really really well. It's like a marriage made in heaven. In Hardcore Heaven. They seem to be the perfect Hardcore duo, and we've had a few in the past. Fracus & Darwin are still alive and kicking! But what was their jam back in 2012? What was the kind of music I listened to over and over in my flat in Kerkrade? Let me show you M@rt!n-J's tracklist for this mix, and it will immediately give you goosebumps. 8 years old. Where has the time gone, eh? Fracus & Darwin vs CLSM feat Indie-Go-Blue - Chime Fracus & Darwin - Turn Back Time Fracus & Darwin feat Becca Hossany - Got The Rhythm Fracus & Darwin - Yesterday Fracus & Darwin - No Disguise Fracus & Darwin feat Cari Winter - I'll Be Ready Fracus & Darwin - Circle Fracus & Darwin feat Jessica Palmer - Love Comes Back Fracus & Darwin - Step Down Fracus & Darwin - Found A Groove Fracus & Darwin - Magnetised Fracus & Darwin - Hard To Find Fracus & Darwin feat Cari Winter - Standing In The Rain Fracus & Darwin feat Frikshon - Voodoo Magic Fracus & Darwin - Music Blocks Fracus & Darwin feat Chwhynny - Drivetime Fracus & Darwin vs Obie - Snap! Wow! A proper trip down memory lane. I am sitting here, with a huge grin on my face, listening to this dedication mix. You don't know how much this album meant to me, and how much it still means to me, in 2020. I did get flashbacks to a time when I lived on my own in the Netherlands, way before I moved over to the UK forever. An innocent time, way before Brexit and COVID-19. My life was so dedicated to Hardcore. And now, I am sitting here, in London, reminiscing. Fuck, where have the last 8 years gone to? There are so many fucking epic anthems in here, and they are sadly underrated. Who can remember the tune 'Step Down' coming through the speakers? That bass is so filthy, I've just soiled myself. Or what about 'Yesterday'? That's an anthem and a half you don't hear anymore. Guys (and girls), let's play more Fracus & Darwin in our mixes, please? The best of the best has got to be 'Magnetised'. I don't know who did the vocals for this track, but they are so extremely mesmerising. I am in awe of whoever is singing this: this is what an angel sounds like, right? Such a pure voice. But truth be told, F&D did use a lot of excellent vocalists for this album. I am in love with this album, and M@rt!n-J's mix. He never disappoints, but that also applies to Fracus and Darwin, leaders of the UK Hardcore scene. True pioneers. Fuck, I'm going to listen to this mix again. Sod this review, I need to hear this mix again, and again, and again! - DJ Cortex - Ruffneck Classics (2015)
Today is the hottest day ever recorded. It is bloody hot, and the fan has remained on for the last 24 hours. It a must, seeing as I'm about to melt if I didn't have the fan on. It's so damn hot, and it's a day on which you should relax. It's Friday too, so let's chill down, and relax. Relax, with the beats from the Ruffneck label. This was (and still is) a highly respected label with many big anthems under its belt, and even in 2020 many people are loving the different approach they had, when it comes to Hardcore music. Didn't they used to call their style Darkcore? A label so loved, you will find tons of dedication and appreciation mixes online. And when I say tons, I do mean tons. So many people adore this label, including yours truly. I am a fan since the label emerged, back in the 90s. And during the 90s I've listened and raved to a lot of these tunes. My God, Ruffneck dominated my youth, and that's no word of a lie. There were many labels out there which I adored, and Ruffneck records was one of them. Seriously, just look at the back catalogue and you will be astonished by the amount of Hardcore anthems it has released over the years. So you can imagine my excitement when I saw this Ruffneck classics mix on Soundcloud, made by someone called DJ Cortex. Never heard of this DJ before, and not come across this mix before, so today it was my day to find and explore this mix. And Cortex has picked really wicked records. Of course the big anthems, and you will know them ALL when you see the tracklist. But is it worth checking out this mix? Read my opinion down below: Cybernators - Open The Door Undercover Anarchist - Ass Off (Remix) Juggernaut - Don't Fuck With A Ruffneck (Original) Juggernaut - The World Of The LSD User Undercover Anarchist - Work It To The Bone Lock Jaw - Smoke Diz One Wedlock - Terradome Lock Jaw - Selecta Diss Reaction - DJ Lan Predator - Mind Of A Lunatic Predator - 1, 2, 3, 4!! Lock Jaw - Underground Funk Wedlock - Acid Rain Pinhead - Underground Knightvision - Humanoid Wedlock - Bass For Your Face Juggernaut - State Of Mind Pinhead - Slammin' Beatz Diss Reaction - We've Got Enough Lock Jaw - Ruff 'N Ruggin' See, I told you that DJ Cortex used a lot of excellent tunes. But I also mentioned that Ruffneck records is one epic label. The amount of excellence from this label is astonishing, seriously is. And it's good to hear those banging anthems coming at me on this Friday afternoon/evening. I can only give credit to Ruffneck records for releasing these tracks. I grew up with them, and still love them, God knows how many years later. And I will probably still appreciate them when I'm 40 and 50 years old. You never grow out of Hardcore, and that's a fact. If you do, are you really Artcore though? Are you a Gabber or a Zwabber? DJ Cortex's mix is okay, but contains a few mixing errors. The selection is great, don't get me wrong, but it's not picture perfect. And I wish it was, I certainly do. Normally when it's only a few errors, I would let it slide, but in this instance I would have to mention it. It might interfere in your experience. The records are good, and it was difficult to pick a favourite, and it's a tie between two records: 'Humanoid' by Knightvision and 'Slammin' Beatz' by Pinhead. Truly wicked anthems. Underrated, that's for sure. If the mixing was perfect, I would have enjoyed it even more. It was okay, you could still hear that Cortex loves Ruffneck records as I do, but not perfect. Still enjoyable. Why not give it a go? - Gimme The Funk Gimme the Funk (DJ Hype 1993-1998) (2020)
It's Sunday morning, time to chill. Another busy week is ahead, and we need to 'wind' down a bit. The perfect music to wind down with, has got to be Drum & Bass. A bit of it won't hurt you. Yes, you might feel a bit Hyped (see what I did there?), but you will still feel chilled to the bone. And I have found the perfect mix for you Drum & Bass fanatics out there, made by the regular to this site, DJ Pearsall. He's made yet another epic mix, and today is the perfect day to get your head around it. DJ Hype. Is there anyone who's a Drum & Bass fanatic who doesn't know him, or his name? DJ Hype has been around for many years, and his music has been a huge influence to many upcoming producers, and ravers. DJ Hype is a legend, with a lot of big anthems under his belt, and he has contributed a lot to the Drum & Bass scene over the years. As a true DnB lover I have owned a lot of CDs mixed by DJ Hype, and I do love his music, and his style. DJ Pearsall made this dedication mix, filled with anthems from 1993 until 1998. So the early DJ Hype stuff. You can hear him progress throughout those years, from Hardcore to Jungle to early Liquid Funk. It's a nice mix, and it's all in order. 27 years of DJ Hype. Unbelievable. The tracklist is a must see! Check it out! DJ Hype - The Chopper DJ Hype - The Trooper (Scratch-A-Snare Mix) Gappa G & Hyper Hype - Information Centre (DJ Hype Remix) DJ Hype - Shot In The Dark (Gunshot Mix) Fallen Angels - Hello Lover (DJ Hype Remix) DJ Hype feat MC GQ - Roll The Beats (Inject The Bass Mix) Dopestyle - Fade Away DJ Hype - Tiger Style DJ Hype - Doomed To Fail DJ Hype - Going Out For Da Loot Marvellous Cain - The Hitman (DJ Hype Remix) Remarc - RIP (DJ Hype Remix) DJ Hype - Freestyle Of Bass Dr. Octagon - Blue Flowers (DJ Hype Remix) Bally Sagoo - Chura Liya (DJ Hype Remix) DJ Hype - True Playa'z Anthem DJ Hype - Peace, Love & Unity (Remix) Armand van Helden - Ultrafunkula (Ganja Kru Remix) Ganja Kru - Plague That Never Ends Freestyles - Attack DJ Hype - Barking Bass Freestyles - Musically Dope (Ganja Kru Remix) DJ Hype - The Big 30h DJ Hype - Closer To God The mix intensifies the 'younger' the records become. Again, remember that these records are in order, so you start back in 1993, and the last 4 records are from 1998. You see DJ Hype slowly progressing into the DnB legend that he is. And it's all been mixed together beautifully by DJ Pearsall, but he always has excellent mixes, if truth be told. The mix is tight, as usual, and Pearsall has picked some excellent tunes. Obviously this is not the first time I've reviewed a mix made by him, and it won't be the last one either. Lockdown has given us all a lot of opportunities to spend time accordingly, and I'm guessing DJ Pearsall has got a few other mixes coming? I hope so, seriously hope so. The mix is tight, the records are wicked, got nothing negative to mention. But the big question remains; do I like DJ Hype's 'early early' work, or the 'later' work? Well, I do like the 1993 records in this mix. Not saying that everything after 1993 is shit, absolutely not. But the Hardcore side of Hype was really really good. Which takes us to the section where I select my favourite records of this mix. And it's without a doubt the best one: 'The Chopper'. Big anthem. Check this mix out, and let DnB rule your Sunday. - Binary Finary - Luminosity 2016
It's Saturday morning, and I've just woken up. I need something good to entertain me. And I think that I have found exactly that! You don't want to wake up to 200 BPM music every day: some days you just want to sit back, relax, and enjoy chilling music. Like Trance music, the perfect style to wake up with. But do you prefer the new Trance, the Millennium Trance, or the early Trance? Well, I do like a bit of everything, but classic Trance is just much better: it's the style I grew up with. So pure, and nostalgic. So after typing the words 'classic' and 'Trance' on Soundcloud, this liveset was presented to me. So, this set. It was recorded at one of the biggest Trance events in the world, Luminosity, back in 2016. And if you check the line up for that year's event, it was big, very big: Will Atkinson, Sean Tyas, Sied van Riel, Signum, Bryan Kearney, John O'Callaghan, Kai Tracid, Paul van Dyk, Judge Jules, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Menno De Jong, Airwave, John 00 Fleming, Richard Durand, Talla 2XLC, Shugz, Artic Moon, Rex Mundi, and many, many more. This was a line up that would be exciting to every Trance lover. Sadly I missed that event. Binary Finary do not need an introduction. Their name is well known in the Trance community, especially because of their hit '1998'. And during their set they played the finest classic Trance anthems out there. And I'm talking about epic Trance anthems. The tracklist is something you need to watch, and be in awe about. You cannot let this mix go by without listening to it at least once! The tracklist. Are you ready for a trip down memory lane? Cosmic Gate - Exploration Of Space (Original Mix) Gouryella - Gouryella (Original Mix) Three Drives - Greece 2000 (DJ Shog Remix) Lost Tribe - Gamemaster (Dreamy 2014 Rework) Nu NRG - Dreamland (Binary Finary Remix) Golden Girls - Kinetic '99 (Jensen & Carter Remix) Marc Et Claude - LA (Moonman Flashover Remix) Rank 1 - Airwave (Daniel Rems Remix) Binary Finary - 1998 (Paul van Dyk Remix) Ayla - Ayla (Verachoca Remix) Lost Witness feat Tracey Carmen - Happiness Happening 2014 (Allen & Envy & Sunset Remix) Photographer vs Armin van Buuren - Airport Shivers (Nirmana AvB's Remode) Commander Tom - Are Am Eye (John Askew Remix) Mauro Picotto - Komodo (Save A Soul) (Megavoices Claxixx Mix) Well, it is not a fully classic Trance set, but it has got a few obvious slammers. It starts with a wicked classic, and ends with a classic, and in between you've got a mixture of everything. That's why I am still writing about this mix. Diversity is key. I do like the classics, but mixed with newer stuff makes everything sound better. And Binary Finary have delivered an awesome set. I bet that those who went to see them, had a brilliant time. The records selected are good, it's nicely mixed together, and the outcome is an hour and 15 minutes of pleasure. You have probably already checked out this mix, and you don't need me to tell you that it's a dope one. You don't need to be reminded. I am just doing you a favour, and telling you to check this one out, again! Why not, enjoy this dreary Saturday with a few awesome Trance anthems. The best one? Sorry, but it's obvious. 'Gouryella' by Gouryella. Can't beat this masterpiece! - Akira Kayosa & Hugh Tolland - Covid Dance Nights (18th July 2020)
We humans are resourceful . We invent ways to keep us busy doing the worst of times. And COVID has taken the whole world to stand still. It will have a long lasting impression on mankind, and we will be able to tell our children and their children that we survived COVID. How, you might say? Social distancing and face masks. And we created something that was already existing, but not as big as before: home parties. Not house parties, but home parties, using the whole wide web as our source of entertainment. The internet has become our stable source of entertainment. And we certainly need that during this shitty time of year. Or just shitty 2020. Let's fucking get rid of it, eh? Today I was in a mellow zone, and what is good music to listen to when you are mellow in spirit? Trance music, correct.Lately I've been on a buzz, enjoying music more than before. And COVID has put a bit of a downer on everything. Should we go partying again? Is it safe? Standing in a field with thousands of ravers, is that really a good thing? For me, personally, I like to stay at home now, be entertained by the streamers. And no, not the gaming streamers, but the music streamers. I keep hearing new music every single day, and today I've come across a mix by Akira Kayosa and Hugh Tolland. I needed a nice and long mix to keep me going through the working hours. And this was the perfect mix for me. It's jam packed with excellent Trance anthems, and it's nearly 2 hours long. What else do you need? Don't know the Covid Dance Nights crew or the concept, but I'm guessing it's similar to all those streaming services out there. So what do you get in nearly 2 hours of Trance music? Well, Trance records (duh), and a lot of them. 21 amazing and amazeballs records, by a diverse group of producers, including a few made by Akira and Hugh themselves. Be prepared to be amazed! Draft 2 Design - Affection Over Reason (Basic Draft) Luminary - Amasterdam (Smith & Pledger Remix) Scarab - Vagabond (Original Mix) Kayosa & Tolland feat Matt Noland - Sound Control (Original Mix) Bodyshock - Fullmoon (Original Mix) Akira Kayosa & Hugh Tolland - Galactive (Original Mix) Kayosa & Tolland feat Matt Noland - Sweet Nothing (Original Mix) Astaeus - Stranded (Original Mix) Oliver Lieb - Subraumstimulation (Michael Dow Remix) Akira Kayosa & Hugh Tolland - Re-Entry (Original Mix) Akira Kayosa & Hugh Tolland - Ode To Mungis (Original Mix) Embrace - Embrace (Ferry Fix) Matt Darey - Nocturnal Delight (Kayosa & Tolland Remix) ID - ID Scott Mac presents De Progression & AJ Gibson - Twilight (Morph Remix) Stoneface & Terminal - Berlin 2000 Akira Kayosa & Hugh Tolland - Disconnected (Original Respray) Yahel - Devotion (Akira Kayosa & Hugh Tolland Refurb) Second Sun - Empire (PVD Tpod Mix) VDM - No Hesitation (Original Mix) Lost Tribe - Angel (Four Four Mix) It has been a brilliant two hours. I've really enjoyed myself, and hearing those tunes coming through my speakers. The music was good, and it was well mixed together. If you are a Trance lover, you will certainly love this mix. Trust TCD (=me). I love the diversity in this mix. Some of these tracks do linger towards the early years of Trance music, and some just sound brand spanking new, and fresh. Some even have the housey vibe surrounding it. I'm really digging this kind of music. It's refreshing. But in general Trance is anyway. This is my first Akira and Hugh mix, and even though I've heard of their music before, I am highly impressed with this mix. Really enjoyed it. And I've got only love for it. But which record is my favourite? I couldn't choose. I had two in my mind. Two. Oliver Lieb's 'Subraumstimulation', remixed by Michael Dow, and 'Ode To Mungis' by Akira and Hugh. Both extremely wicked anthems. But not the only two reasons why you should check out this mix: there are 21 reasons! A wicked mix. True Trance. And downloadable too! So what are you waiting for? - D-Sturb @ The Outdoor Mainstage Of Experience The Feeling Of Intents Festival Online (2020)
We all know 2020 has been a dreadful year, and we are still in it. The world has given us this rather unusual task, to stay at home, and not party. Now, I am Dutch, and I've been partying since 1998, so to have a year where no parties are happening besides the ones that are streamed online without any audience, is just so surreal. But I think we've all just accepted that COVID-19 is a complete tool, so whatever party is hosted online, we just accept it. Be it obviously without an audience, but it's still our main source for wicked music. One set I found on Youtube was D-Sturb at this year's Intents Festival edition. I just needed my daily Hardstyle dose, and with his set, yesterday's choirs were done easily. When you are doing choirs, like cutting the grass, it becomes a doddle. It gives me that extra boost, when I certainly need this boost. It did work, but now I am burned and look like a lobster. Yes, I forgot to moisturise my skin. Factor 100 next time. But for now, I've got a red face, red nose, and red neck. Ah well, a good reminder that I can do choirs with excellent music, but also a reminder to use sun lotion. D-Sturb's records have been top notch since I first discovered them many moons ago. He's got this unique sound, and even though his records can be rough and raw, they all have this melodic sound. A necessity for me, to make a record work. And for his set at Intents Festival this year, he has picked a lot of excellent records. He's not just the new kid on the block, he's already an established name, and his set shows us why he's awesome. Fact. The tracklist for anyone who's interested....: D-Sturb & Sogma & E-Life - Hold On D-Sturb - High Power (The Next Level Remix) Hard Driver - Blow Da Club Down Vertile - Change This Place D-Sturb - World Out There Warface &D-Sturb - Take On The World Sub Zero Project - Playing With Fire (Live Edit) D-Sturb & Villian feat LePrince - I Am Rebirth (Rebirth Festival 2020 Anthem) Sub Zero Project - The Silence D-Sturb & Sound Rush - Embracing The Madness D-Block & S-Te-Fan & D-Sturb - Feel It! Radical Redemption & Nolz - Remember The Name D-Sturb feat Alee - Party At My Place Sub Zero Project & D-Sturb - Heroes Of The Night (Intents Festival 2019 Anthem) Warface & D-Sturb feat Rafael Krux - Collective Paranoia Rebelion - Bassline Junkie Warface & D-Sturb - Extortionist Deadly Guns - Get Dissed This is one sick mix. I've really enjoyed this set by D-Sturb. Some sets just grab you from the first anthem, and won't let go of you. This is one of those sets. Flawless. And it gives the raver enough energy to party for 55 minutes non stop. D-Sturb certainly knows how to get everyone moving! The set is filled with serious dancefloor anthems. D-Sturb is a real force, his anthems do tend to get played everywhere. And obviously used a few of his own productions in here. You know someone isn't the kid on the block anymore when his collaborations are with big names such as Warface, Sub Zero Project, D-Block & S-Te-Fan, and more. The tracks are just sick. And to start with 'Hold On', you know the place will be lit. Such a suitable song for this dreadful year. 2020 can certainly fuck off. But it has given us a good anthem, to be fair. But is it the best one of this D-Sturb set? Nope. I have to join many commenters on Youtube. Vertile's 'Change This Place' is the best one of his set. Fuck me, this gave me more boost than anything else in this set. You can watch his full set on Youtube, see the player below. If you love D-Sturb and his music, you will NEED to listen to this monster set. To me, this has got to be the best set of 2020 that I have encountered so far! - Intents Festival 2018 - Warmup Mix By Demi Kanon
I know, I know. I am fully aware that Intents Festival 2018 is long behind us, but there's a reason, a reasonable reason why I am talking about Demi Kanon's warm up mix for that year's event. Well, there are multiple reasons, but the main one being: I was looking for a specific track on Soundcloud, and the first mix that appeared, was this one. I was looking for 'Get Up' by Adrenalize feat ADN. Such a big anthem, obviously, and when this warm up mix appeared, I couldn't let it slip by, and pretend that nothing happened. I had to review this mix. Why? It's a big mix. That's why. You will know what I'm talking about once you see the tracklist. Yes, I know this mix is 2 years old, and 2020 has been a horrible year for the festival season, but we can still enjoy good music, and maybe look forward to 2021, which will be the return of the festivals. I couldn't let this go by, I am terribly sorry. And I know, I should have listened to this back in 2018. But what happened, happened. And I missed this mix completely. I have to be honest though: I didn't know who was behind Demi Kanon. I have seen the name before, but never did any research. A few minutes ago I read this rather interesting interview, so I am now aware of Demi Kanon, and the person behind it. And to gain attention so quickly within the Hardstyle scene, and to leave a permanent mark on it, is always an achievement. Much respect for this 'newcomer'. Well, after 5 years I wouldn't call him a newcomer anymore, right? So he did this promo mix. It's a short one, but it's highly addictive, and very, very powerful. Only 9 tracks, so typing the tracklist shouldn't be much of an issue. Demi Kanon & Inverze - Close Your Eyes Demi Kanon feat Nino Lucarelli - Nothing At All Headhunterz & Sound Rush feat Eurielle - Rescue Me Demi Kanon - Closer KELTEK - Through The Night Hypnose & Airtunes - Shaman Audiotricz & Demi Kanon - Fallen Horizon W&X x Vini Vici - Chakra (Wildstylez Remix) Adrenalize feat ADN - Get Up I can only give this mix as much credit as possible, but this mix deserves so much more. I only discovered it this morning, and I haven't stopped listening to this. Such an addictive mix. I had to go back into my work office, and seeing as it was nearly dead (no one there), I could just put my headphones in, and put the volume on maximum. And even on the way home it's been an absolute bliss. A fucking epic mix! The weird thing is that there were no comments underneath this Soundcloud player! Which I simply do not understand? How come no one responded? This mix should deserve so much more. It's filled to the brim with Euphoric Hardstyle, and don't we all love that? It's such an emotional style, it's rough and raw and yet beautiful and melodic at the same time. It has received a few plays though. No doubt that people wanted to hear this mix. The last 20+ plays have obviously been myself. Sorry. I do adore Euphoric Hardstyle. It just makes me feel so damn good. And Demi Kanon's short but exciting mix contains 9 epic dancefloor and festival slammers. And now the big question, which is the biggest of them all? You would expect me to say 'Get Up'. The lyrics are so good, touching and emotional, but I did not select this as my favourite! (shock!!). I have selected 'Fallen Horizon' as my favourite one. No mucking about, just straight into the melodic stuff. From the first to the last second of this anthem I feel euphoric. Like I'm in a tent, somewhere in the Netherlands, raving my arse off, while the sun is beaming down on me, and making my drink nearly undrinkable. That's what this track does to me. A wicked mix. Definitely worth checking out. And it's also downloadable! So, even though 2020 is shit, we can still pretend to be at a festival. - The Prodigy 1991 - 1993 (2020)
If you were born before the Millennium happened, preferably in the late 70s of early 80s, there was a band that might have dominated your youth. That band I'm talking about, is obviously the greatest Breakbeat/Rave band in the world, The Prodigy. If you are too young to remember who they are, or never heard of them, don't worry: it's never too late to catch up on our precious history. The Prodigy has to be the biggest band in the whole world. RIP Keith. May he rest in piece, and rave forever! They have made history. They are part of our raving community. And yes, they might have gone a different path over the years, the early years of The Prodigy are still remembered as the golden years. Their first two albums were extremely well received, and if you are not aware of which albums I'm talking about: Experience, and Music For The Jilted Generation. They did release many albums after, but personally these first two albums remain the best. We can talk about their history and their impact on the raving scene for hours, but we shouldn't. This is a blog, and not Wikipedia. I would urge anyone who is interested in the history to visit Wikipedia, or other pages. There's plenty of information to be found online. Let us focus on this mix, made by Tony D. This is a good mix, it focusses on the early years of The Prodigy. He tried to mix all the records in order of release, but he made a small error. Would I be bothered about that? Not really, I cannot be fucked. Why? Because I'm not. I'm more focussed on the music, and the records he has selected are truly masterpieces. I base my judgement on my personal experience with The Prodigy, and the records I owned. This doesn't include the records Tony D used: he used a few versions of records I've not come across before. Obviously he had the biggest hits in here, but also a few 'originals' and other versions. Worth checking out. Here's the tracklist. Don't slobber all over your keyboard of mobile device. Make sure you've got tissues at hand. The Prodigy - Android The Prodigy - Everybody In The Place The Prodigy - What Evil Lurks The Prodigy - We Gonna Rock The Prodigy - Charly (Original) The Prodigy - Your Love The Prodigy - Pandemonium The Prodigy - Everybody In The Place (Fairground Mix) The Prodigy - Everybody In The Place (Dancehall Version) The Prodigy - Charly (Alley Cat Remix) The Prodigy - Rip Up The Sound System The Prodigy - Crazy Man The Prodigy - G Force Part 1 (Energy Flow) The Prodigy - Fire (Burning Version) The Prodigy - Fire (Sunrise Version) The Prodigy - Jericho (Genaside 2 Remix) The Prodigy - Jericho (Original Mix) The Prodigy - Music Reach 1234 The Prodigy - Wind It Up The Prodigy - Your Love (Remix) The Prodigy - Hyperspeed (G Force Part 2) The Prodigy - Charly (Trip Into Drum And Bass Version) The Prodigy - Out Of Space The Prodigy - Everybody In The Place (155 & Rising) The Prodigy - Weather Experience The Prodigy - Ruff In The Jungle Bizness The Prodigy - Death Of The Prodigy Dancers (Live) The Prodigy - Out Of Space (Techno Underworld Mix) The Prodigy - Ruff In The Jungle Bizness (Uplifting Vibes Remix) The Prodigy - Wind It Up (Rewound) The Prodigy - We Are The Ruffest The Prodigy - Weather Experience (Top Buzz Remix) I do have to give Tony D credit for making this mix. It's really nice to hear all these Prodigy songs, in every shape and form available. As you already know, I am a Prodigy fan, and I love to hear anything they made in the 90s, and in this mix a few version have been added I've not heard before, or not hear that often. That's always a bonus. So many great anthems, so many great memories. The Prodigy's impact on the scene has been tremendous, and they still keep on pushing it forward. Groundbreaking at the time, innovators of our beloved rave culture. They have made some of the most memorable anthems over the years, and as controversial as they were (like 'Smack My Bitch Up'), they are still in our minds. You cannot listen to a radio station in 2020 and NOT hear a Prodigy record at least once a day. From an underground group to the biggest act in the whole world. Over the years I have started to love their anthems even more, and it's difficult to pick one epic anthem. Yes, 'Charly' was the anthem when I heard them for the first time in the 90s, but my preference has changed. I have to say that 'Weather Experience' and 'Hyperspeed' have been on my favourite Prodigy list, both at number 1 and number 2. Tony D's mix and the concept behind it is really interesting. Sadly at certain moments not mixed together beautifully. A few errors here and there. If he tweaks those errors, the mix would have been flawless and highly enjoyable. It still is, but nowhere near perfection. Check out this mix and you can also download this for free! - DJ Smurf/Blue Fuzz @ History Of Hardcore. Glasgow, Scotland - 13/07/2019
The people in Glasgow always get the finest events. Last year they had a party called 'History Of Hardcore;, and the line-up looked good, as you can see. One of the biggest DJs on the line-up was DJ Buzz Fuzz, all round nutjob, but a Hardcore legend since the early 90s. Sadly, due to issues with his flight, he couldn't come. So they had to get a replacement DJ, and DJ Smurf was available. You know him, the blue guy. He took over, and did the DJ justice: he played the set that Buzz Fuzz supposed to do, filled with Buzz Fuzz records. DJ Smurf is obviously a legend too, and I don't think that anyone had an issue for him to step up, and take Buzz Fuzz's place. They still got their Buzz Fuzz dosage. So when I say dosage, I mean that the whole set was filled with records by this all time legend. I'm not sure how many records he has made, but it's a shit ton he has been making since the 90s. And his records dominated throughout those glorious years. Even when Hardcore was still kept alive, he was at the forefront of Hardcore. I can name all the big hits he has made, but I think we are all aware of the big anthems Buzz Fuzz has made. We do love his music. And if you remember his Wappie column in the Thunder Magazine, we all know he was a weird person. But someone with a passion for Hardcore. To see all these anthems being squeezed into an hour long mix is always good. Buzz Fuzz is a legend, but so is DJ Smurf, for stepping up, and taking Buzz Fuzz's place. Big boots to fill, but he did it. The tracklist is a thing of beauty. So here it is: Tony Salmonelli feat Buzz Fuzz - Class Axion Take 4 Buzz Fuzz - Freedom Lenny Dee - The Dreamer (Buzz Fuzz Remix) Human Resource - Dominator (Buzz Fuzz Remix) Buzz Fuzz - Men Of Teflon Buzz Fuzz - Dreamgirl (Original) Bertocucci Feranzano - XTC Love (Original Mix) Bertocucci Feranzano & Tony Salmonelli - Class Axion Take 2 Buzz Fuzz - Frequencies Buzz Fuzz - Drop The Pressure Buzz Fuzz - Jealousy (Is A Motherf#cker) Chosen Few - Name Of The DJ (Buzz Fuzz Remix) 3 Steps Ahead - It's Delicious (Buzz Fuzz Mix) Oh, it's so great to hear these anthems again! The good ol' days, eh? His music inspired me and has given me a lot of goosebumps throughout the 90s. So many memorable anthems. This man was an anthem machine! Obviously the most 'well known' one has to be XTC Love, but is it Buzz Fuzz's best one? Is it the best one selected by Smurf? Nope. But it was difficult. Buzz Fuzz has made a lot of awesome records, and it was hard to choose from. The two I have selected are my personal favourites of this mix, but not my all time Buzz Fuzz favourite anthem (that has got to be D-Leria). So which two did I find awesome? 'Frequencies' of course, and 'Jealousy'. Boy, you can play that at any event nowadays, and the crowd will loose their shit. I remember hearing them during the 90s at the raves I've been to, and it would be a climatic moment. I did love Smurf's set. Not focussed on his own music or style, but someone else's style. That's cool. He did Buzz Fuzz proud (I reckon). He has earned the title 'Blue Fuzz'. And if you were at the party, you must have had a wicked time! Not just with the Blue Fuzz playing, but also all the other Hardcore legends. Guess what? It's also a free download! So jump on it, and download this sick mix! - Headhunterz | Defqon.1 At Home 2020
It's safe to say that this year is probably one of the weirdest years of our known existence. Similar things might have happened in the past, but can we actually remember when the whole world stood still, and every person had to stay at home? The lockdown has changed a lot of things, including partying. If someone would mention in 2019 that we would stay at home, partying to livestreams, no one would have believed him/her. This is such a surreal period, but thankfully most of us make the best out of it. Including the organisation behind one of the biggest events in the Netherlands, Defqon.1. The event took place in Biddinghuizen, where it should have taken place anyway. The line-up remained awesome as hell, don't need to elaborate that the organisation still gets the sickest line-ups, but this time no crowd was to be seen. It was all via livestreams, and they made sure that the party, even when no one attended, was spectacular. If you have missed it, you don't need to worry: go on Youtube, and you will find the sets. But just by quickly looking at the video, you know the organisation have put a lot of effort into this. And made it work! It's still a weird sight to behold: a DJ being energetic, but no crowds. Lasers, fireworks, and a sick stage, but no one there! To please the fans, who sadly had to miss this, they still made it a unique event. Maybe slightly smaller, but they had bloody drones! And the video is in high quality, so you will be able to see and even hear everything better. Now, the set I found was Headhunterz's set. Of course I had to listen to it. And within a day it already reached 60k+ plays! People needed this. Not just this specific set, but Defqon.1. We miss partying, but this will give us enough ammo to get ready for 2021, the year where the world started to dance again. We need to dance. My living room is getting too small to rave in. I keep smashing everything with my heels. Anyway, the set. It's packed with the most euphoric Hardstyle anthems, selected by mister Heady. So enjoy it as much as I have. And it also includes a wicked track, brand new, one you need to look out for. Wildstylez - Children Of Drums (Headhunterz Remix) Headhunterz - Home Yellow Claw - DJ Turn It Up (Headhunterz Edit) Project One - The Upside Down Walt - Let the Music Play (D-Block & S-Te-Fan Remix) Builder - Her Voice (Super Bass Mix) Zedd feat Matthew Koma - Spectrum (Headhunterz Edit) Project One - The Creation Of Art Headhunterz feat Malukah - Dragonborn Part 2 Project One - Love Is Not Enough Cygnus X - Superstring (Aftershock Remix) Timmy Trumpet - Diamonds (Bass Modulators Remix) Project One - Move Your Body Project One - Move With The One Headhunterz feat Sian Evans - The Hunter & The Prey D-Sturb & Sound Rush - Embracing The Madness Headhunterz feat Sian Evans - Dragonborn Part 3 Headhunterz & Sub Zero Project - Our Church Headhunterz - Scrap Attack (Defqon.1 2009 Anthem) (2020 Edit) A very good looking tracklist. And he's added a few of his classics in here. Some I really adored when they were released. And of course he had to throw in some fairly new anthems, like 'Our Church' and 'Home', and a few Project One anthems. All in all a wicked tracklist, you won't be disappointed. I have to say, and we all already know, that Q-Dance has delivered a top notch event. Be it one of the weirdest ones in their history, but one that will go into our history books as one we all loved, yet we weren't there. I wish I had a big enough garden, so I could maybe throw my own party there, the same like Defqon.1. Sadly, the garden ain't big enough. Not by far. Anyway, Headhunterz's set. It's jam packed with catchy euphoric Hardstyle anthems. Anthems which will make you raise your hands in the air, and sing along to. Sing along, not MC to. That's maybe the only thing I don't like. But besides that, nothing negative to mention about this. The tracks themselves are as good as you would expect them to be. I do like Sian Evans' voice, it's a long time ago since I saw her at Innercity, as part of Kosheen. And now she dabbles into the Hardstyle world. her voice suits it extremely well. And now you would expect me to choose 'Dragonborn Part 3' as my favourite. You are wrong, oh so wrong. My favourite has got to be 'Scrap Attack'. The original still rocks, and the 2020 edit is quite good. It will never beat the original from many moons ago. It's nice to hear it's only an edit, and not a complete overhaul, because the track didn't need it. It's as good that it remains in my personal top 10 for many years. An all time dancefloor classic. I would urge you to check this set out, if you haven't already. The visuals are astonishing, it's just a feast not just for your ears, but also your eyes and soul. - SHOWTEK Classics Showcase Vol. 1 (2003-2006) (28.06.2020)
Sunday has arrived, the day after the COVIDIOTS have gone down the pubs and destroyed any chance of us getting back to normality. We just have to get used to the fact that we have to stay at home for a long time. So we have to make do with what's online, and today I've got a mix for you all, Early Hardstyle lovers. If you love your Hardstyle, you know Showtek. They used to produce Hardstyle, nowadays they aren't anymore. Don't even know what they are doing to be fair. To commemorate what they used to make, Audioholik made this appreciation mix. Full of their early work. From the golden years of Hardstyle. During these glorious years they had a lot of success, and have made memorable anthems. Those anthems haven't gone unnoticed, and even in 2020 people are loving those tunes. Audioholik's mix contain true Showtek anthems, and they will enlighten a spark inside of you. You really want to go back to those wonderful years. Showtek had a specific sound you could always rely on. So it's nice to hear those memorable anthems again. Take me back in time, Audioholik! Headliner - Speaka (Duro Remix) Showtek - Down With This Dutch Masters - 2 The Dance (Duro Remix) Showtek vs Gizmo - Bangin' Deepack vs Showtek - Rockin' Steady Duro - Psycho Hardheadz - Wreck This Place (Showtek Remix) Dutch Masters - Rock Beat Headliner - B.O.D.Y.P.U.M.P. (Showtek Remix) Showtek vs Gizmo - 3 Da Hard Way Dutch Masters - Insomnia Showtek - Colours Of The Harder Styles Methods Of Mayhem - F.Y.U. (Showtek Remix) Zany vs Duro - Our Power Lowriders - Don't Get Back Dutch Masters - Get Up Duro - D-Sucka Showtek - Braincrackin' Zany vs Duro - Dissin' Audioholik went all in, and choose the big dancefloor anthems. Didn't even know they had aliases. Back then we didn't have Discogs, or maybe we did, but I didn't even know of its existence. But only the last couple of years I do go on it, to find out that a lot of artists used a shit ton of aliases. Today is no exception. But deep down inside I should have known; they do have a specific style and sound, which you can attribute to Showtek. Yes, it might have been under an alias, but you can still tell it's a Showtek anthem. I do love it. Yes, the sound might have been a tad happier and upbeat, but it's still hard and rough when required. And Hardstyle was just this way back in the early years of the noughties. It was just like that. And we all loved it. Hardcore wasn't alive as much as it was earlier, and us hard heads still required something rough and wicked, hence why Hardstyle grew in popularity. I've got only praise for Audioholik's mix, and he has already received good feedback on Soundcloud. So why not go and have a listen to this mix. You might even like it. You might think that the Early sound is awesome. You might become me! Yes, I do prefer the earlier sound. The best track? The last one. Simple. Such a dope track. It would literally get the crowds loose their minds when this was played. A dancefloor smasher! Also, this mix is there for you all as a free download! How about that? - Blue Note Volume Five (2020)
It's Saturday, everyone! The weekend has landed. We can all let our hair down, and chillax. And what better way to do so, by just listening to exquisite Drum and Bass, mixed by our favourite DJ Selectabwoy. He's such a regular to this page, we should really dedicate a page to him. Maybe I should ask him to do an interview, to see what he's up to, and how come he always delivers wicked mixes? Maybe I could do that. But until then, let's focus on the latest mix I found on his page. This mix is already legendary. It carries the Blue Note name, which is a famous club, a club so famous, the Drum and Bass legends out there do talk about it, and praise it for having such an impact on the scene. I've never been, only read about it (in Goldie's autobiography) and heard about it in videos. Don't even know where it's located. But just seeing the name appear in a title, you know shit is about to go down. This name on its own has a lot of weight on its shoulders. But, this is quite unique, Selectabwoy has collaborated with someone called Roadblock. I should go out more, because that name sadly doesn't ring a bell. But for this mix, Roadblock provided the music, and Selectabwoy mixed it all together. It seems that Roadblock has a good ear, and knows good Drum & Bass tunes. Combine that with Selectabwoy's excellent mixing skills, and you get the fifth instalment of this mix series. If you are curious, and want to hear the previous instalments, check them out here! If you just want to see the tracklist, please proceed: Q Project & Spinback - L.E.D. (VIP) Deep Blue & Blame - Re-Transitions Jonny L - Underwater Communication Lemon D - Break It Up Hidden Agenda - Dispatches 2 Peshay - Vegas Dom & Rob - Distorted Dreams (Desired States Remix) John B - Starburst 1.1 Shimon & Andy C - Climate Control Nico & Makai - Omen Klute - Perceptron Matrix - Convoy Future Forces - Flash Gordon Ray Keith - Dark Soldier (Original Mix) Skyscraper - Liberty. 1 John B - Secrets Digital - Metro Matrix - Sedation Intense - Motions (VIP) Goldie - A Sense Of Rage (Sensual VIP Mix) Now, you see, I do love Drum & Bass, and I love the edgy and rough sound of it, and even though I do listen to a lot of DnB, I still find hidden gems on a daily basis. It's amazing to find new stuff every day. Literally, like every day! Most of the hidden gems are brought to me by Selectabwoy himself. Let's give this man all the credits he deserves. And honour him by listening to this yet another astonishing mix. What I like about this mix, is the fact that the selection is great. Roadblock, whoever you might be, you've got good taste. Together with Selectabwoy they have created this wicked mix. Full of inspiring tunes. And the good thing is, no matter how you are feeling, this kind of Drum and Bass will always make you feel things, and will make you feel great. So chilling, so relaxed. If I would be in the Blue Note, I wouldn't even be dancing. I would be standing on the dancefloor like a mummy. Super still, and letting the vibes take over my soul. I cannot imagine people dancing to this. This is to be listened to without any movement of body parts: this is music for the soul! Of course you should dance to this. I am talking bollocks. But me, sitting here at home (stupid COVID-19), I am enjoying the tunes, and absorbing the vibes. Not dancing at all. I am more of a listener, and can't dance for love nor money. I like this kind of DnB, and it makes me happy. Selectabwoy has done it again. This legend has given us yet another awesome mix. With only the finest anthems out there. I can only give the man that much credit. But he deserves everything. A flawless DnB mix, with some underground anthems, hidden gems, and you are in Heaven for an hour and a half. Thank you Roadblock and Selectabwoy. You should work together more often! And I should listen to DnB more often. More. Like 24/7. It's fucking wicked! - Scot Project - Melodia Sessions Guestmix (2019)
It's Wednesday, the week has been halved now. And what a week it has been. Today has been the worst day for me: most of the day I had to sit here without any internet. My provider had issues which they needed to resolve. Thousands of users couldn't go onto the world wide web, so I sat here, waiting until it returned, so I could continue WFH. I couldn't even go onto Soundcloud, my safe place on the web. I was bored. Really and truly bored. When the internet did return, I had to listen to something on Soundcloud. Scot Project's latest livestream set was one of the sets I really wanted to review, but at the moment it doesn't have a tracklist, so you have to be patient. But what I did find, was an older set by him for Melodia Sessions. I'm guessing that this is an online show? Never heard of this session before, but if they do play music similar to what Scot Project played in this mix, I should look them up. Scot Project does not need an introduction. He's a legend. A legend with dreadlocks. He always has the capability to make even the hardest Trance sound 'soft'. Since the early 2000s I have been following him, and I haven't found a mix made by him or containing records by him which disappointed me. I don't know what it is, but he's got this ability to make everything sound awesome! So I'm guessing this mix from last year is going to be good, eh? Here's the tracklist. Reflekt - Need To Feel Loved (Argy Remix) Stephen Kirkwood - Rainbow Six Marco V - Avalon Ruben De Ronde & Proof - Fade Away With Me (Key 4050 Remix) Giuseppe Ottaviani - Colours NG Resonance - Sinners (Alex Wright Dub Mix) Sied van Riel & Claudia Cazzacu - Contrasts (Dave Leyrock Remix) Marten De Jong - R3S3T Marten De Jong & Allen Watts - Caffeine Evan Pearce - Anubis NG Resonance - Riff Raff Jakob Rocksonn - We Don't Care Mark Sherry & David Forbes - Yerba Del Dial An hour long mix, and no bullshit. That's what I like to hear. He's crammed 13 records in an hour mix, so expect to be enlightened throughout this mix. A state of euphoria like you've never felt before. And boy, the tracks he has selected are truly astonishingly good! But I wouldn't expect anything else from Scot Project; he seems to have a knack for these kind of records. I really liked the vibes coming through my speakers. My day did go by quickly. But that's the power of Scot Project. He always delivers, never disappoints. His mixes are always spot on, and with this one he has proven again why he's the legend that he is. A true legend. It was hard to pick one favourite record out of these 13 smashing records. But I couldn't decide, I had two in the end. So here are my two favourite records of this mix: Marco V's 'Avalon' and Giuseppe Ottaviani's 'Colours'. You will understand why I have picked these: they are belters! A wicked mix. I hope his latest mix does get a tracklist, so I can share it with you all. But for now, go back in time (<1 year) and enjoy this mix. Fresh as the day it was made! - Fallout 4: A Game Changer (2015)
The reason that I became a revived gamer is because of this game, Fallout 4. Yes, it might sound weird, and truly unbelievable, but before 2018 I did not have a games console at all. Well, I did, but that was a long time ago. I used to own an Atari 2600, do you remember that? Are you old enough to remember that one? Between the Atari and the PS4, I never owned a games console, because I didn't like gaming that much. I was (and still am) a music lover, and music has always been my preference above anything else. But things changed during the course of 2018: I discovered a game on Youtube called Fallout 4. And it has changed my life completely. The wife bought me a Playstation 4 because of my talking about Youtube videos which were focussed on Fallout 4. Most videos I watched were made by Oxhorn, a well known Youtube creator. I fell in love with the game, and was happy enough just to watch all the videos, but after I received my PS4, which included a few games, I haven't looked back, and played many hours. And yes, I did also get Fallout 76, but let's not talk about that game: we are all aware of the disaster that is Fallout 76. I tried, believe me, I tried playing that game, but it wasn't what I was looking for in a game. When I had the Atari, I played many games over and over, but they were basic. Still fun, for the late 80s. Was I a gamer back then? Yes, I was. But simplicity was the key word for gaming back in the 80s. Nothing major was released, which involved quests. It was basically 'can you kill this?', and yes, that was your whole game (simplified). Obviously games have changed, and I even played on other consoles (which weren't mine). I even jumped on the bandwagon when Wolfenstein 3D was released. But it just didn't do anything for me. And that's a rarity in my life. Technology has always been my thing, but gaming, not really. You can imagine the excitement when I got the PS4 on Christmas day! I did not attend any other ventures that day: who needs food when you have got a brilliant games console with a few games? It came with Fifa, but I am not bothered about football in general, I find it the most boring and overhyped sport on Earth, so that's still clean, never used, in a draw somewhere. But the wife got me Fallout 4. Game changer that was. I got it set up on the PS4, and looking at the statistics of 2019 it was my most played game of the year, by far. But what makes Fallout 4 so special? I think the setting is just perfect. It's an open world game, with many quests and side quests, with plenty to do. And stunning graphics, it must be said. You can tell that Bethesda has spent a lot of hours in this game, creating it. Yes, the graphics don't appear to have aged well, compared to 2020 games, but I am an easy guy, and don't mind if the graphics aren't as good, as long as they don't resemble anything made in the 80s or 90s. I think the nuclear apocalypse as a whole appealed to me. A world that was created, focussed on the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse (who actually started it? was it P.A.M.? was it China, or the USA, or even Vault Tec?) and the sole survivor. The name is really not suitable, seeing as the character you (the survivor) is looking for, your son Shaun, is still alive (that was a huge spoiler though!). And certain aspects of the game don't make sense. But you can't have it all, eh? You are frozen in Vault 111, and you see your wife being killed, and your son being kidnapped. You go back into a cryogenic state, and wake up into a world of unknown. Fully unaware of everything that has happened outside of the vault, you are on a quest to find the killer of your wife, and your son. But instead of just doing that, the game has you playing a lot of quests with factions such as the Brotherhood of Steel, the Railroad, the Minutemen, and even the Institute. Here is where it becomes slightly messed up: you are looking for the killer, Kellogs, and you get rid of him. But to get there takes a long time, and side quests take you away from finding your son. You can be playing God knows how many quests before you actually focus on your missing kid again. And the character appears to not be bothered about his kid, unless provoked. That's odd: if my kid was missing, to hell with Preston Garvey and his settlement quests, I am going to find my son! During the game play you do go to several locations throughout Boston. Sanctuary Hills is the main location where the sole survivor used to live, but you have plenty of other locations to go to, like Goodneighbours, Diamond City, and if you have purchased the other DLCs, you can even go to Far Harbor. There's plenty to discover in the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse. Plenty of marked and unmarked locations. And you get the opportunity to meet a lot of interesting people, who can become your companion, and you can even spark a romantic relationship with them. And here's the annoying thing: the companions you can choose from, can range from annoying and not really an added value to cute, adorable, and a good companion. Here are the companions you can use throughout the game: Codsworth - a friendly robot that is owned by the sole survivor, and remains active as a cleaning robot, long after the apocalypse has happened, yet his cleaning duties are really shocking: the players house is a sh*t hole. And his cheerfulness made me leave him in Sanctuary Hills. Preston Garvey - you meet him in the Museum Of Freedom, and he is truly the most annoying character of them all. He sends you to all these settlements, to bring peace and prosperity to the Commonwealth, yet it makes me wonder why he doesn't do all of these himself? He sends you all around Boston, to find new Minutemen settlements, and he never stops giving you jobs to do. Lazy sod. Piper Wright - a journalist you find outside of Diamond City. Don't really know her added value to my gameplay, I have not selected her because I don't like journalists in real life. She's got an interesting story, but meh, not that special for me personally. Cait - If you go to the Combat Zone, you can have her as your companion. She is a drug addict, and you need to help her overcome her fears, and her drug addiction. She comes with deep dialogue regarding her past. Fierce companion. I like her humour. Paladin Danse - a member of the Brotherhood Of Steel, with emotions ranging from 'bored' to 'die-hard killer'. You do find out that he's indeed a synth, and you get to choose if you want him to live, or die. An interesting character Dogmeat - everyone's favourite companion. A dog? Yes. A feisty dog. Never shy of trying to save the sole survivor. Not much dialogue with him. He can only do tricks. But you can spec him up with special dog armour! How cool is that? Strong - a super mutant who likes human milk. Really don't like him. Sadly, after you save him, you cannot kill him. I tried, God knows I've tried. Saving synths, yes, but no super mutant is worth saving, including this monstrosity. Old Longfellow - a miserable old man which you can find in Far Harbor. Make sure you download this added pack. Far Harbor has got many interesting quests. But Old Longfellow can remain in his hut. Porter Gage - Don't really know what to think. Every time I go to Nuka World, I never have him as my companion. Don't trust him. And on many occasions I eliminate him and all the factions at Nuka World. Boom, gone. Nick Valentine - now here's an interesting character you definitely should choose. He comes with a few quests, and even tries to help you find your son. And he's there for you, always. A nice and handy companion to have. Haven't tried to be romantic with him, don't even know that this is an option though. Deacon - he's odd. He's everywhere in the game, if you pay close attention. He lies a lot. He's part of the Railroad, but he can be a nice companion, if you see through his lies and deceit. John Hancock - a feral ghoul turned major. I liked him as a companion, a no nonsense person, who will show you in a minute of entering Goodneighbours that he doesn't take any crap from anyone. Robert MacCready - another companion with an interesting back story. Also linked to a previous Fallout game. Didn't spend much time with him. Curie - the most interesting and cutest of them all. Yes, my wife got shot in Vault 111, and I owe her my undying love, but sod that: Curie is the one I have as my companion the most. She is just adorable. She is a robot that wants to become human, and eventually you do get her as a human companion. That's messed up, but everything's possible in Fallout 4 Ada/Automatron/X6-88 - all these have not been my companion so far, I probably chose the wrong quest paths, and leave them where they are. And X6-88, who wants to join the Institute? They are evil, they took my son! Nuke them all! It depends on who you choose, with path you go on. The only one that has any interest in your back story is Nick Valentine, the mystery detective. But Curie is just the best. And her French accent is just so damn adorable. But that doesn't mean you NEED to have a companion. You can leave them at settlements, and wonder the Commonwealth on your own. Your life, your rules. What if you are a cat person and hate dogs? Leave Dogmeat where he should be. That's the good thing about this game, it can be as different as you can make it. This game also has a lot of opportunities to explore the Commonwealth. A lot of quests are there to be carried out, and a lot of mysterious locations, filled with super mutants, feral ghouls, gunners, and more. Never trust anyone, and always have your guns ready wherever you are. But also be prepared to start a war with a settlement if you shoot one of its residents by accident: I've done that many of times, and had to start fighting and killing nearly everyone. Covenant, you hear me? Don't mess with me. Whatever path you choose, the end will always be in the Institute. You decide what happens. You find your son, but will you help him? Will you help the Institute, or destroy it fully? How long do you support them? I've had many game plays where I simply killed my own son on the spot, and had the whole Institute against me. But those are choices you make. YOU, the player. This game also comes with a lot of interesting side things to do. Have you got a settlement? You can build walls, have settlers move into this new locations, create places for people to sleep, things for them to do. The world is your oyster. It does become annoying that you sometimes lack experience or materials to build something to completion, so certain settlements didn't have walls or even beds. And the settlers would let you know that they are complaining about lack of beds. Just sleep on the bloody floor! Super crabs, bugs, Deathclaws, scorpions, etc. You've got a lot of enemies in this game, and the only thing you want to do, is find your son! Even after waking up in Vault 111, the first thing you fight, are radroaches. You really get a sense that the world is a non-hospitable place, and you have to fight literally everything to stay alive. There's even a location on the map, which is called 'The Glowing Sea', where without decent protection, you cannot even survive without receiving radiation. The nuclear bombs did fall there, so it is the in-games Tsjernobyl. So far I have enjoyed explaining the game, but is it the best game ever? What are its weaknesses? Well, there are plenty. Here are a few that I can remember: Glitches - oh my days, there are plenty. Companions talking to you when they are stuck in a wall? Or even when you send Paladin Danse to Boston Airport. Try to find him! You can hear him talking and walking, but he's nowhere to be found. Bethesda sadly has a reputation of making games that contains glitches. Fallout 76 anyone? Saving Settlements constantly - even when you've got the best protections, the best turrets, biggest walls, etc. You have basically made it into a fortress, they still need your help. And it always happens when you are far away from them. You can give each settler the best available weapons, and they still won't make it without you being there. Preston Garvey and his quests - can there be anyone more annoying than him? He is just chilling in Sanctuary Hills, and sends ME out to the Commonwealth, to do his shitty jobs. Useless. And some quests are the same, over and over. Can no one survive without me? I am a survivor, came from a vault and my wife got killed, and my son kidnapped, and you can't fight off some super mutants? Go away! Game crashing - I've had that happen to me a lot. CE-34878-0 anyone? There are many pages on the internet filled with errors that this game has, and how to fix them. You might be fighting for a settlement, 5 super mutants surround you, you empty your gun, aaaannd.... the game crashes. CE-34878-0. Damn. The good thing is that this game has got mods available for you. Many contain fixes for any glitches that this game has. Be aware that downloading these might affect the game, and maybe even the game play itself. But you can have fun with a few mods. Or you can download add-ons, released by Bethesda themselves, which can give you a few new perks, player locations, quests, etc. They can even contain errors, but hey ho, you can't have it all. So what makes this game interesting? Choices. You have got many choices, and you have to make a lot of them. Who do you support? The Minutemen, Brotherhood Of Steel, The Railroad, or even the Institute? With them, you get a lot of quests, and the game feels like it goes forever and ever. If you play your card right, you can have hours of fun. With every level that you increase, you get to choose a perk you want to become better in. And there are a lot of them to choose from: The game gives you plenty of perks to choose from, and you will become stronger, and the game becomes more interesting. At a basic level you won't be able to open all the doors and terminals you find in the game, unless you have increased your skills on the perk chart. This obviously means that you sometimes need to revisit a location, if you want to open terminals, safes, etc. After a lot of hours playing (and even destroying the Institute) I have not had the opportunity to have each perk set up to the max. It does take some time. Another good thing that happens: once you finish the main quest, you can still continue playing. There's no limit, no ending. You are the hero, you have saved the world, and yet you still need to do shitty jobs for Preston Garvey, the lazy bastard. Or, just to be more into Fallout, you just start the game again, and be back in Sanctuary Hills, talking to the Vault Tec representative. The world is your oyster. Once you are sucked into this game, you spend many hours playing it. This game and previous instalments have gained huge popularity over the years, and I consider myself a fan. I've read everything there is, and have seen hundreds, or even thousands of videos, focussed on Fallout. I am truly in awe with this story, and how it turned into these games. I even played Fallout Shelter, but that became boring after a few weeks. This game got me 'back' into gaming. I still find it fascinating, and having played this over and over, I do find new things here and there. There are plenty of mods out there that give you the chance to play more quests, if you want that. But be aware, the more mods you have, the chance is that you have more errors than before. You can even have mods that mess up the game completely. Or even X-rated mods. But they don't appeal to me. You can make the game as interesting as you please. Even with the glitches, errors, etc, I still find this game highly enjoyable. It builds up nicely towards a brilliant 'ending'. It has grabbed my attention more than any other game I own, or ever owned. To me this game is special. Hence why Fallout 76 is such a disappointment. I don't like playing online, I like to be the 'sole survivor'. I want the world to be mine. Fallout/Bethesda, please make the next instalment like Fallout 4, but better. This franchise deserves it. And the following it has, wants it. I cannot stress the fact that this is a flawed game, but it does work. The Fallout franchise has gained me as a follower. Hell, I am even sitting behind my PC, typing this, with my Fallout t-shirt on. Respect for Bethesda for releasing this 5 years ago. It might have aged slightly, but it's still an enjoyable game. I hope that you, if you have played this before, might get back into this game, or when you have never played this, gives this game a go. It is worth your time and effort. The story line is interesting, and fascinating. This game has sparked my interest in games and gaming, and now I cannot let a day go by without having at least a few hours on the PS4. I am hooked. For me, this game has been a game changer. It certainly has made me happier. Why can't we just kill Preston Garvey? Pfff, don't need him at all. - 140 BASSMIX 2020
I've been listening to some Bassline music lately, and it has raised my enthusiasm in the sound again. The other day I listened to a mix by Burgaboy, today it's a mix by WillJC. Not sure who's behind the name and what he has done so far, but for now let's focus on the mix he has uploaded 4 days ago. A 140 Bassmix. Not just Bassline, but also Dubstep, and a bit of Rave music in it too. So if you love 140 BPM, this is just what you need to hear. According to the info underneath the mix on Soundcloud, this mix contains a few old and a few new records. Interesting. I've not been focussing on the scene that much lately, so its nice to hear some new anthems. But is Bassline the same as it was back in 2009-2010? Well, there's only one way to find: press play! It has already received good feedback on Soundcloud, so why not give this mix a go? This is obviously if you don't like Bassline music, or Dubstep. If that's the case, just leave the page right now, and go somewhere else. But those who love it, check out this tracklist: WillJC - Intro (Dub) Mintnite feat S4 - Calling Piddy Py feat K Dot - I'm Twist Mr C - Sticky VIP Dua Lipa - New Rules (Matty C Bootleg) (DUB) Kryphon feat Window Kid - Og Wow Palize - Jump In The Middle (DUB) Vandull - Blatant Banger M8 (Deadbeat UK Remix) Burt Cope - E Numberz (Phatworld Remix) Bru-C & Thorpey - Get On Your Bike Palize feat Kase - Overdose (DUB) Maroon 5 - Payphone (Phatworld & Squire Of Gothos Remix) Venz - Do Dem Tingz (DUB) J.G. - Killa Dub JMZ - Untitled (DUB) WillJC x Spliff Richard - Calypso Riddim VIP (DUB) Gin x Spliff Richard - Big Man Ting (DUB) Venz - What's Love (DUB) Phatworld x Thorpey feat Forca - Latency Superior Cornrows - Mugshot (Phatworld Round) Venz feat Mr Flo - Mek The Gyal Buss Gunfingers (DUB) Burt Cope - Weapon (DUB) Aweminus - Fried Piper Motus - Know Me (DUB) JG DUBZ - Modulator Skank Spesh 2 (DUB) Fix - Headshot (DUB) Motus - Monsters Secret Anthem 2019 (DUB) EMI ICE 6K - Harley Quinn (Emilian Wonk VIP) (DUB) JG DUBZ - Sosa (DUB) Aweminus - Frosty Witch Nips Gin - Going In (DUB) Takio - Raid Argo - Daredevil Motus - WUBBER MEISTER Jandi - Evolve (BLVNKSPVCE VIP) (DUB) I really liked the diversity that you can hear throughout the mix. Halfway through the mix it goes full on Dubstep mode. And it has put me in a difficult position: do I prefer Bassline/4x4 or Dubstep? Don't ask me that question, because the answer might astonish you. OK OK, peer pressure. Bassline is the style that I really love. Even though I'm the whitest person on God's given Earth, I do like it. I can't dance, I can't rave, I can't even buss (don't even know what that means), but the bass is just sick. So damn cool. And the one record that remained in my head the longest has to be 'I'm Twist' by Piddy Py feat K Dot. What a dancefloor slammer. I'm guessing that the dancefloors will be destroyed when DJs play this anthem. Don't get me wrong, Dubstep is ace too, but in this mix the Bassline anthems did more for me. I do like WillJC's mix. Fast paced, dancefloor slammer after dancefloor slammer. And ending with Dubstep, always a good thing. A few small mixing errors, but nothing major. I would urge you to give this mix a go. Again, if you don't like those styles, you can f*** off. But if you do like 'em, press play right now! - DJ Haston - Scott Brown Tribute (1995 - 2005) (2020)
It's Friday, another week finalised. It's time for the weekend ladies and gentlemen, time to let our guard down and chill. And I think I have found the perfect mix for you all. A Scott Brown mix, who doesn't appreciate that? I think the majority of UK Hardcore fanatics think that he's the biggest superstar in the scene anyway. Some might think it's Darren Styles, or Gammer, or whoever you have got in mind, but we all have to thank Scott Brown for bringing the Hardcore to us since the early 90s. Don't know when the others started, but Scott is probably the oldest DJ in the scene? All jokes aside, we all know how much of an impact he has had, and it's safe to say that he has got the most appreciation mixes on Soundcloud, period. And the mix you are about to listen to, is one of them. I think it's also a competition mix entry, which DJ Haston finished as runner-up. Didn't even know there was a competition. But hey ho, I am not a DJ, I am a blogger, so maybe that's why I missed it. This mix already gets a lot of love and appreciation from the listeners. And for all the right reasons. DJ Haston picked tracks from 1995 up until 2005, and crammed them into a fine mix. A very fine mix. And it does contain some of the obscure anthems: I am a Scott Brown fan, but there were tracks in this mix I had never even heard of! So I was in for a surprise. Check out this tracklist. Feast on this bad boy. Sub Source - The Hardcore Anthem Sub Source - Hardcore Euphoria Scott Brown - Systematic Scott Brown - Live Your Life Q-Tex - E-Creation (1995 Version) Bass x - Hardcore Disco Part 2 Lords Of Hardcore - Work That Sukka Technosis - Genorate (Scott Brown Mix) Ultimate Buzz - Check Da Bass (Scott Brown Mix) Scott Brown & DJ Dell - Inferno Scott Brown - Excitation (Album Mix) Scott Brown - Trance Sect (Album Mix) Scott Brown - Dum Dooby Dum Mr Brown - Pump Up The Bass Scott Brown - I Don't Need Nobody Scott Brown - Healing Mind Scott Brown - Check It Out Scott Brown - Hardcore Vibes Scott Brown - Techno Revolution Hardcore Authority - Definition Of A Bad Boy Scott Brown & Cat Knight - All About You Plus System - Prince Of Darkness Plus System - Do It Like We Do Scott Brown & DMO - Fade Away Scott Brown - The Stranger Interstate - Hardcore Hustler Scott Brown - Life Or Death Wow. This is something special. And it's got everything you need to get you through yet another weekend stuck at home. Not for long, hopefully we can get back into the raving festival season again. But please, stay safe, and rave safe! For now we have to make do with whatever is available online. And DJ Haston's mix is really a good one. Nicely mixed together, and also a nice build up to the rougher and tougher ending. This mix really contains big anthems, and a few unknown underground anthems. It's weird to think that Scott had so many aliases, I can't even remember half of them! But credit to Haston for having a nice and diverse mix. Obviously, being a Scott fan, the mix appeals to me. And I'm the worst critic, to be fair. Sorry Scott, but you have made a few 'meh' records too. Not a fan of 'Hardcore Vibes' (Dune's version is still better), and 'Do It Like We Do'. That record just pisses me off, the original song has got to be the worst song out there, ever. But this is only 2 records out of 27 records Haston picked, so don't worry, I'm not burning down this mix completely. I still really enjoyed this mix. A few tiny mixing errors, but they were tiny. Still a very good mix. Check it out right now, and let it lead your weekend! - Burgaboy - Instarave Live - 13.06.2020
I am a Bassline fan. Especially when you are talking about the golden years, which to me were 2008 - 2011. And guess what kind of music I'm going to talk about? That's right, a livestream, presented and mixed by Burgaboy. The Bassline whizzkid. He's much older now, but still has that specific sound. And during his livestream on the 13th of June he decided to play the finest tunes, the good ol' tracks. Yeah, why fucking not? Obviously it contains a few of his own productions, and a few other big classics. You won't be disappointed when you check out the tracklist. Maybe that's the reason why he looks so full of rage on the picture: he is just feeling the music, and he's going in hard. Or he needs the loo desperately. But let's focus on the mix, eh? If you are a Bassline head like myself, you will love this mix. The tracks are really big, and some I've not heard in a while. Don't hear or see a lot of 'early' Bassline stuff on Soundcloud. Hence why I was happy when I saw this mix by Burgaboy. And he was even kind enough to add a tracklist. What a nice man. Here's the tracklist I was talking about. Check it out: Benga & Coki - Night TS7 feat Addictive - Candy Rain Subzero - Get Milli Get Mad Lethal B - Pow 2011 Sia - Little Man (Wookie Edit) Subzero - Quarantine D Double E - Wooh Riddem Monsta Boy - Sorry Burgaboy - Honest Burgaboy feat BM - Are You Single? Bassboy feat Phe Phe - I Can't Get Enough Macca - 010 Spaceship Anthem Subzero & Piddy Py - Gangsta Vibes Burgaboy - Shining Star Mr C - Next To You TS7 - Real Raver Sub - Madman Fear Burgaboy - The Way You Walk Burgaboy - Unrelease Wookie - Battle DJ Total - Bongo Mashup Scream feat Slick Don - Flex Subzero - You Wot Dub Burgaboy - Runaway Burgaboy - TRC Dub Burgaboy - Never Gonna Stop Burgaboy - Water Wow. This brings back a lot of memories. I remember the days when I was so hyped up, and I was full into Bassline, I even was about to go to Niche, just to experience what everyone else was facing (I still lived in the Netherlands), but then Niche shut down. Bummer. I still remained in love with the sound, and even in 2020 the Bassline sound brings me joy and happiness. Burgaboy is one of those artists I really like. I even bought his album. Can't remember the name to be fair, but a quick Google search might help me.... 'BASSic Mixtape Volume 1'. That's the one. Whatever happened to volume 2? It's been 12 years, maybe time for a new instalment of this mixtape series? I did really like his productions, and thankfully we can find a few in here. Real dancefloor slammers they are. And the best one has to be the song by D Double E. What a fucking sick anthem. This is one of those songs that remains in your head for hours. He rhymes so damn fast, my brain can't even process what he's rhyming about! A nice mix. A few small mixing errors, but he went in hard, as the image shows. Really a nice jump back into time. Worth a listen, and worth a like on Soundcloud! - Bryan Kearney - Hard Trance Favourites Mix (2020)
If I'm completely honest with you all, I don't like to watch streams online. I get bored easily, and rather listen to it at my own convenience. As nice as it is, and seeing as it's the only way most people get their daily music fix, for me it's not what I want to see. I'm bored easily, and distracted easily too. So when livestreams are uploaded onto any Cloud, like Mixcloud or Soundcloud, that's when I get excited. It's weird, I know. But that's just me. Most of you lot prefer to watch a livestream, seeing as COVID-19 is an absolute pain in the rectum, and prevents us from going to raves. Bryan Kearney did a set in his kitchen, and I'm guessing he's done 4 prior to this one. Who would have thought that we would be watching a DJ do his thing in his own kitchen? A few months ago that would only be an upcoming DJ's stage, but now we do see those livestreams appear everywhere: kitchen, bedroom, attic, garden, anywhere basically. He did his in his kitchen, and the fifth episode was focussed on his favourite Hard Trance records. A few years ago this was my favourite style, and when I saw that he did a set containing records I truly love, I had to jump the bandwagon, and listened to his set on Soundcloud. I wasn't going to be disappointed. I've got to say, looking at the picture, he's got a nice kitchen. Yep, OK, the focus should be on the mix, not his kitchen. But it's nice. If anyone knows the manufacturer of the kitchen, let me know, I might be interested. Back to the mix. What kind of awesomeness has he selected for this mix? Are his favourite Hard Trance records the same as mine, and yours? Let's find out, shall we? Avatar - Red Planet (Reverb Mix) BK - Revolution Flutlicht - Icarus Saltwater - The Legacy (Alphazone Remix) Matt Silver vs Tony Burt - Teardrops (S.H.O.K.K. Remix) Dumonde - God Music (Cosmic Gate Remix) Dave Joy - First Impression (S.H.O.K.K. Remix) JFK - Good God Sioux - Pho DJ Kim - Jetlag (Alphazone Remix) Marc Dawn - Expander (Flutlicht Remix) Basic Dawn - Pure Thrust (Nu NRG Remix) Ian Van Dahl - Try (Onova feat Alphazone Remix) The Freak - The Melody, The Sound (Flutlicht Remix) Dumonde - See The Light Flutlicht - The Fall (Original Mix) Now this is a tracklist that excites me. Can't believe these are classics already, it seems like only yesterday they were released. But they are older than you think. Credit to mr Kearney, his selection is really as good as you can get it. Hard Trance all the way, baby! This takes me back to the late teens, early twenties, when I used to adore this kind of music. I really fell in love with it, and it has stayed with me for years. Hard Trance is one of those styles that cannot do anything wrong. I just adore the living f**k out of it. It's Trance, but slightly faster! Don't we all love Trance and we like things to be slightly harder? (don't have disgusting thoughts!). His selection is really great, and his kitchen mix is really good. I really love to hear those Dumonde records again. Whatever happened to Dumonde? Can't remember what happened to them? Did I just not follow them? I've lost track of Dumonde.... And it's also great to see a few Flutlicht records in here. Gosh, Bryan's mix is really something. I've got to give him credit for this awesome mix. And the best of the best was in here too! Obviously a Dumonde track: 'See The Light'. What a slammer! Go and grab this mix right now! It's also available as a free download. So what are you waiting for? - DJ Promo Megamix (2001)
So, this mix happened. Well, not that I had any say in it, but what I'm trying to say is that this mix nearly landed on my lap. Jason S, the megamix master, mentioned on his social media pages, that he had a mix online, which he made back in 2001, and it was as ridiculous as you have guessed it: 58 tracks in an hour long mix. All DJ Promo records. You couldn't make this stuff up. This stuff is made by legends! We all know Jason S from his mighty megamixes, and this is year another one we can add to our already existing music catalogue. And we all know DJ Promo. The ultimate Hardcore legend. The man who gave us literally thousands of songs (well, not that literally), and his music shaped our youth. It gave me music to dance to. And he was really experimental. He did what no one else did, and he just said 'fuck it'. He was the inventor or this Promo sound, and the Promo files resembled that specific sound. You can tell a track has been made by him. Promo has been a stable producer for the Hardcore scene since the mid 90s, and has given us many memorable dancefloor anthems. The dancefloor became Hardcore because of him. He had the natural capability to make nearly each and every song work. Be it Hardcore, Happy Hardcore, Industrial, you name it. He is a master of his craft. And the best thing of it all? He created memories! A memory to each song he created. You can hear them, and immediately get goosebumps, and it will also take you back to the 90s/00s, raving in a field, or a massive hall. He's gifted, you know. So let's see this massive tracklist. I wish copy-pasting was easier, but sadly it's not going to be easy. So here we go: Jason S - Intro : DJ Promo Megamix From The Darkside DJ Promo - Back In Time DJ Promo - Metal Warfare DJ Promo - What The Fuck? DJ Promo & DJ X-Ess - Vicious Circle DJ Promo - Counter Attack DJ Promo & Trickstyle - What U Want DJ Promo - Patterns In Chaos DJ Promo - Up Yours! DJ Promo - Emotions Over Anger DJ Promo - Life From The Other Side DJ Promo - I Come Correct DJ Promo - X-Termination DJ Promo - System Feedback DJ Promo - Broaden Our Minds DJ Promo - 20.000 Freaks DJ Promo - The Industry Can't Stop Me DJ Promo - The Bad Guy DJ Promo - King Of Pain DJ Promo & Catscan - Midnight Impact DJ Promo - Dancefloor Hardcore DJ Promo & Catscan - Battle Of The Sexes DJ Promo - My Underground Madness DJ Promo - Driven By Instinct DJ Promo & Catscan - Chaos In The Flesh DJ Promo - My Recipe For Disaster DJ Promo & Catscan - Virgin Territory DJ Promo - Running Against The Rules DJ Promo - Bullet From My Gun DJ Promo & DJ Bike - No Commercial Sound DJ Promo - Can You Thrill Me? DJ Promo & Digital Boy - Serious Damage DJ Promo - Procurer Of The Cure DJ Promo - Different Breed Of Men DJ Promo - Phreak Ya Speaka DJ Promo & DJ X-Ess - Guns 'n Ammo (Under Construction Mix) DJ Promo - Just A Feeling XXX Rated - Mad-Donna DJ Promo & DJ Delirium -Bass Power DJ Promo - It Runs Deep Part 1 DJ Promo - It Runs Deep Part 2 DJ Promo - Cheating Bitch (Dedicated) DJ Promo - Cold As Stone DJ Promo - Can't Hold Me Down DJ Promo - Feel The Thunder DJ Promo - Beat Ya Brain Again DJ Promo & Solo - Psycho Style DJ Promo - This Underground Sound DJ Promo - Kill Tha Noise DJ Promo - I Wanna Freak You DJ Promo & Ming - From The Darkside DJ Promo - Shit To Die For DJ Promo & Da Vinci - Sing It Louder DJ Promo - Boomin' Out The Box DJ Promo - Shut Up! DJ Promo - The Incredible DJ Promo & The Judges - I'm The Law Jason S - Outtro: Signing Off Now this is a beast of a tracklist. So f**king full of DJ Promo stuff, all from the golden years of Hardcore. This literally takes me back to my youth. When I was a teenager, DJ Promo was my ultimate hero. His music touched so many souls, and kept ravers dancing, all over the world. Is DJ Promo Hardcore? He sure hell is! Obviously it contains the biggest hits by DJ Promo, like 'Phreak Ya Speaka', 'Can't Hold Me Down', 'My Underground Madness' and more, but also the kind of less famous anthems. Jason S's job to make this all work well has paid off. This 68 minute long mix is indeed what I needed. There are many DJ Promo megamixes online, even made by the legend himself, and this is a nice addition to the already existing mix database. I cannot get enough of his music. It was hard to pick one favourite anthem out of these 56 wicked and truly remarkable pieces of art. But after consideration, I have selected one: 'I'm The Law'. I know I know, a very controversial decision, but it's mine. There were simply too many to choose from, and hell, I was a fan of Sylvester Stallone back in the 90s, and Judge Dredd was a kick ass film. So ner. Anyway, however you look at this mix, it's fantastic. Maybe tiny little errors, but nothing to be worried about. I wish this WASN'T a megamix, but a normal length sized mix. I wish the records would be longer than 1 minute. But that's just a dream. I could listen for hours to DJ Promo's records. A true living legend. Captured nicely by Jason S' another smashing megamix from 2001! - klassiks #1 (mixed by stranger) (2012)
It is time for Techno. Well, that's basically every single day. Every day we should all listen to Techno at least once. And today I've got a golden oldie for you all. A mix made by stranger, 8 years ago. Not only is the mix an oldie, but also the tracks he has carefully selected for this mix. Pure unadulterated Techno. And today is the perfect day to listen to Techno: I am off, and the weather is atrocious. Perfect Techno day. Dark and edgy, that's today. I don't know how this ended on my Soundcloud feed, but I think stranger himself reposted it. So thank you stranger for doing that. Let's focus on his mix. According to the info that comes with this mix, it's an hour long and it contains (un)known classic anthems. And he didn't lie as such: the majority of these records are unknown to me. Of course I know the biggest dancefloor anthems like 'Mentasm', 'Three O Three', 'Energy Flash', etc, but he also included a shit ton of obscure underground classics. And after hearing this mix for the fourth time in a row, I can conclude that the end result is a wicked and astonishing mix. stranger has done a good job in entertaining the listeners with this Techno classic mix. So what kind of classics are in this mix? Well, here's the tracklist for you: Centerfield Assignment - Mi-Casa (Mi Condo Mix) R.S.H. - Laughing While Intoxicated (Dope House Mix) E-Dancer - Pump The Move 33 1/3 Queen - Searchin Second Phase - Mentasm Speedy J - Minimal F.U.S.E. - Substance Abuse Gregory Dewindt - Untitled Robert Armani - Overload Joey Beltram - Forklift Planetary Assault Systems - Funk Electric Aphex Twin - Quoth Dave Clarke - Wisdom To The Wise Steve Bicknell - Untitled (Lords Of Afford Mix) i Technasia - Cyclone Thomas Bangalter - What To Do DJ Hyperactive - Wide Open Traxmen - Trax 4 Da Women Dave Clarke - Protective Custody Paul Johnson - Let Me See You Butterfly Public Energy - Three 'O Three Surgeon - Magneze Ben Sims - The Loops (A2) Adam Beyer - Remainings III Barrow Boy - Genesis 45 King - 900 Number (Acapella) James Ruskin - Work (Steve Rachmad Remix) Ben Sims - Battle Beats One (A3) Tikkle - Bubbles Joey Beltram - Energy Flash Jeff Mills - Reverting X-313 - Cybernator Rino Cerrone - Rills 04 (A4) Circuit Breaker - Trac-K Planetary Assault Systems - Gated Thomas Heckmann - Nine-O-Nine Surgeon - Badger Bite Gateway Experience - Twin Freaks (Third Time) Brother From Another Planet - Planet Earth V-Room - Sonic Jungle Ben Sims,Phil Vernol, Rob Jarvis - Killa Bite 1 (A1) Edge Of Motion - Set Up 707 DJ Funk - XTC 2 (A3) Benny Rodrigues - Woest Joey Beltram - 5.7 Litre Pimps In Garderbelts - Spunk The Techno fanboys and girls are probably experiencing an orgasm right now, after seeing this tracklist. It's jam packed with tracks by the biggest names: Joey Beltram, Speedy J, Thomas Bangalter, Robert Armani, Ben Sims, Jeff Mills, Adam Beyer, and many, many more. Good choice, stranger. I love Techno. And it doesn't matter if it's light or dark. As long as it's Techno, I am a happy person. And this mix has really made me a happier person. My God, the amount of awesome records in this mix is beyond me. And yes, the majority I am not aware of, but that really doesn't matter much, as long as the outcome is positive. And this mix has given me good vibes, and that's all positive! The best record in this mix? Difficult. Obviously I want to choose one of the most known Techno anthems, but I'm choosing one you might disagree with: Planet Assault Systems with 'Gated', closely followed by Jeff Mills' 'Reverting'. These two are simply the best. Another epic mix by stranger. And it's a free download too, so why not make this Friday an even better day, and listen to this classic Techno filled masterpiece? - Lee UHF - YinYang Festival - Great Wall Of China - June 2019
I knew that this event existed, but it was still beyond belief that an event takes place on the Great Wall of China! It's like no place on Earth is free from partying: if people can dance, they shall dance! Not saying that I'm against it though, I want people to dance, and express themselves. But what's next: the tower rave of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower mad party, the tree hugging event at Babylon? I'm just not sure anymore, humans can do literally anything, and no wall will stop them. Obviously, due to COVID-19, the event isn't happening this year, and that's a shame. But understandable. OK, so we need to see last year's line up to get an idea of what you could expect people dancing to on this humongous wall. To be fair and completely honest, I don't know the majority of these artists, only know Dirtbox, Voodoo, MC Swift, and that's it. Well, that's a coincidence, Lee UHF has just uploaded his recording from 2019's event. How lucky are we? The set was around 48 minutes long, and contains 26 records. And it does contain ravers on the Great Wall of China. Still unbelievable to think that this happens on a regular basis. So damn cool though. China itself wasn't open to the world until only recently, and look what has happened in a short period of time! Never stop enjoying parties, China! That's so cool of you! Benny L - Dogs Bark Calyx & Teebee - War Dub Agressor Bunx - Breathless Agressor Bunx - Rolling Akov - Growing Pains Kanine - GO Dub Elements - Foreign Zinc - 187 Trec Komander Ground, Kutlo & Jimmy Danger - Bassline Habitat Chase & Status - Disaster Danny Byrd - Devil's Drop Chase & Status feat Cocoa Tea - Burning Serum feat Spyda - All Ganja Man Shy FX feat Stamina MC & Lily Allen - Roll The Dice Frankee - Skuttle Kusp - Shook Jay Walker - Techno Rodeo Kanine feat Duskee - Warface Annix feat Ragga Twins - Slaughtered (Ozma Remix) Kolt - Outbreak ID - ID DJ Hazard & D Minds - Mr Happy DJ Phantasy x Macky Gee - Let It Shine (VIP) TC - Ride Evol Intent - Dead On Arrival UK- Dimension It's still amazing to think that people raved to Drum and Bass on the wall! I just can't picture it. I know it has happened though, but from it being a wall to protect people to a wall for ravers, that's just so insane! I have to say that Lee UHF's set is really interesting. A vibrant set, surely keeping those who were there awake and dancing. This 48 minute set was really a rollercoaster ride of emotions. From the harder and rougher to the more melodic Drum and Bass. Everything was in this mix, including the ravers screaming on the wall. A lot of excellent anthems Lee has used for his extraordinary set. A few tiny errors, but you have to understand it's a liveset, and anything can happen. I think that he was still blown away by the location? But during his set the best record by far has to be 'Let It Shine'. I do prefer the original version slightly more, but still, a good version of a very catchy anthem. I'm not going to deduct points for the few small errors. They were really small, and not bothered me at all. It's still a highly enjoyable set, and Lee UHF has also given it to us for free (you can download this bad boy). Whilst you are at it, why not check out his home streams on there? You can find a lot of sets on his page that you might enjoy too?! - Booka Shade - Movements (2006)
Sometimes you buy an album, and without having any opinion about it prior to purchasing it, it grows on you, and stays attached for the rest of your life. This is the case with the Booka Shade's album which was released back in 2006. I can't remember why I bought this album, but I did. I think at that time I was in love with their song 'Body Language', and I wanted to try something new and exciting. So I bought this album, not really knowing a lot about the duo Booka Shade. Since 2006 it's been in my possession, and it has remained in my possession ever since. It's one of those albums you don't want to throw away, because the music is so damn good. I do mean it though: this album already gets 5 out of 5 stars from me. You don't need to read the rest of this review. 5 out of 5, that's a brilliant score, but it's a brilliant album, take it from me. I have never seen them live, or even heard of them after this album. Maybe I might have done, but I cannot remember. But whatever happened after 2006, 'Movements' stuck with me. With it's already exciting and quirky arty cover, the music is also highly experimental. Electro and Tech House focussed songs. And you can hear influences from other artists in each song. But they still remain unique, and exciting. The calm and soothing sounds are still fresh to me. So let me show you the tracklist, if you are bothered: Booka Shade - Night Falls Booka Shade - Body Language // Interpretation Booka Shade - Paper Moon Booka Shade - The Birds And The Beats // At The Window Booka Shade - Darko Booka Shade - Pong Pang Booka Shade - Mandarine Girl (Album Version) Booka Shade - Take A Ride Booka Shade - Wasting Time Booka Shade - In White Rooms Booka Shade - Hallelujah USA Booka Shade - Lost High The tracklist isn't that exciting, unless you are aware of their big hits such as Mandarine Girl and Body Language. Hell, if you know who they even are, you might be excited. But if you've never heard of Booka Shade before, this tracklist won't do a single thing. This album is as mellow as you can expect it to be. It does contain really cool dancefloor hits, but I think the majority of these anthems are to be listened to in a nice, chilling environment. Like in a cafe, or a nice lounge bar, or even at home. This music takes your mind into another dimension, and relieves you of any stress and anxiety. It might be weird for me to say, but my favourite record of this album, well, it's not either of their biggest hits. And it's not what you would expect from me. It's 'At The Window', closely followed by 'Darko'. Whenever I hear 'At The Window', my mind just goes places, and I can sit here, in complete silence, enjoying the music, and let my thoughts ponder. I really wanted to share this album with you, seeing as it's in my Top 10 of all time greatest albums - list. Should I call the list 'TCD's 10 Finest Albums'? Whatever list, it's on there. I really enjoy this album, even 14 years after its original release. And someone was nice enough to upload the whole album onto Youtube, for us all to enjoy. So if you are after a very relaxing Saturday, let Booka Shade take you places! - Autobiography Of A Rave Kid Part V (2020)
It's Monday, and work has already been a bliss. Not saying that I dislike the weekends, but truth be told, last weekend hasn't been great. Insomnia has killed me. Being awake hasn't done me well. At least working from home got me doing stuff. But working hours are over, and it's time for me to wind down. The best kind of music to wind down to, has to be Rave music. Listen to me, hear me out. I'm not talking about the fast paced, 200+ BPM driven Rave music. I'm talking about the mellow Rave music. Once you see the tracklist, you know it makes sense what I'm saying. So what kind of music should I be listening to? Rave music. But which kind? Present day stuff, early stuff, Millennium stuff? Well, whatever Selectabwoy throws at me, that's what I'll be listening to. And as usual, he has uploaded yet another cracking mix onto Soundcloud, filled with his own personal favourite anthems. This time it's focussed on the Rave with a trancey/technoey/housey vibe. Yep, those are all words from the dictionary, look 'em up. He always delivers, never disappoints. He should name his Soundcloud page exactly that. I've been following him for a few years now, and he's fire! I even voted for him during last year's DJ Mag top100. I am a fan boy. A fan boy of Selectabwoy. And his latest mix shows us again why he's a legend. He always, and I mean ALWAYS, gets good feedback from the listeners on Soundcloud, and his mixes are reposted and retweeted and what else over and over again. And yes, I do that too. How else do you think I've become such a fan boy and hear about his latest mixes? Not stalking though. Time for the tracklist, and it's a good 'un. Why is that, you might ask? Well, because for his latest instalment of his successful mix series 'Autobiography Of A Rave Kid' he has picked records of artists that I have never even heard of. And by that, I mean I know the artists, but not these songs. You'll know what I mean. You probably know these artists too, and will mainly remember them of their famous big hit, and these are sadly forgotten. No worries, Selectabwoy is here, saving us! Transformer 2 - Pacific Symphony Moby - Go (Delirium Mix) Rhythm Invention - Chronoclasm Psychotropic - Hypnosis Time Warp - Bird Rave The Future Sound Of London - Stolen Documents Coda - The Acid Test (Early Morning Mix) Nexus 21 - Self Hypnosis LFO - You Have To Understand Techno Grooves - Christ!! GTO - Pure (Energy) Nico - Field Of Vision Meng Syndicate - Sonar System (Speedy J Remix) Jam & Spoon - Keep On Movin' Nightmare On Wax - A Case Of Funk Colin Dale - Kowtow (F.X.T.C. Mix) Now that's a wicked looking tracklist. Most of the artists on here I know, but the records Selectabwoy has selected, are unknown to me. They do sound familiar, might have heard them before in other mixes/livesets. But it just surprises me that every time Selectabwoy amazes us with yet another splendid mix. And how does he find these rare and obscure underground anthems? I love this mellowed out Rave music. Not obnoxious or annoying at all. This would be the perfect music to hear 24 hours a day, and it wouldn't become annoying. And because it's not hard as hell, you can even have this on in the background, and you wouldn't offend anyone. Lovely relaxing music. Good selection, Selectabwoy. I have only good and positive feedback for this mix. This is more like me, the European. This is what makes me tick. This is what makes me happy. A 53 minute long mix, with absolute slammers mixed together. Another wicked job, Selectabwoy. Best record. That's difficult. I did like 'Self Hypnosis', 'Sonar System', 'Pacific Symphony', but the best one has to be 'Field Of Vision'. Lovely bit of acid sounds poured into this record. Lovely jubbly! - Aeon Mix Session Hard NRG (2020)
It's Sunday, and my sleep was horrible. So I'm back behind my PC, even though I wanted to play on the PS4. But no, we are reviewing again. And this time, I simply had to. DJ Aeon even contacted me via Facebook to say that he added a tracklist, as he knows that I won't review any without a list. He's right: there must be at least 1000 mixes out there which I do not review, but wish I could review them. But hey ho, if the DJ doesn't want the fans to know which tracks they used, cool. So today's mix is one focussed on Hard NRG, a style we don't have on here very often. To be fair, I do like the style, but not a massive fan. But I still appreciate it though. DJ Aeon decided to do mixes with his personal favourite music styles for each individual mix. This time it's a Hard NRG mix, and he's obviously done Freeform mixes too. Don't mind the Freeform, but today I wanted to hear his latest mix. And so should you, if you fancy a bit of Hard NRG on this lovely morning. The tracklist contains records that Aeon really got to love over the years. So you can find a whole lot of tracks he loves. So let's dive straight into the tracklist: Amber D & Random But Raw - True North Aaron James & Seanie Jackson - Belief Dramatik - Pusherman Risa & Polaritia - Raise Your Hands Asylum - Inhuman Grady G - United States Of Massacre Random But Raw & Anna K - Time To Be Bad Grady G - Biker Slut Alchemiist & Decision vs B.R.K. - NRG Never Dies Tom Parr - Coming Home (Grady G Remix) Random But Raw - The Achet (Alchemiist & Decion Remix) Risa - Air Strike Alchemiist & Decion - Hunted To Death Alchemiist & Decion vs B.R.K. - Firelink Alchemiist & Risa - Malice This has certainly woken me right up. It's nice to wake up to something I normally wouldn't wake up to. I do get certain Freeform vibes here, but that's because Hard NRG and Freeform are basically linked to each other. Especially by artists who dabble with both styles, like Alchemiist. Aeon's selection is really great. I'm really loving the vibes. It's fast paced, high energy filled music (hence the name of course), and it has given me a boost in the early hours of Sunday. It has been mixed nicely together, got to give Aeon credit for that. If you dig Hard NRG, the place to be is here. Aeon's mix is filled with a lot of reoccurring names like Grady G, Alchemiist, but it's still quite a diverse mix. The flow is really good, and it's an hour and 40 seconds of Hard NRG. You really don't have the time to sit still: this music keeps you going on and on. I really enjoyed this mix. Can't wait for more mixes by Aeon. See what other styles/genres he likes, besides Hard NRG and Freeform. Worth a follow on Soundcloud, wouldn't you agree? The only downside to this mix is it's size. 654 MB? Wow. I need to clear up some space to have this beast on my hard drive! - Drokz @ Thunderdome 2019
Today I'm experiencing a Terrorhead moment. I cannot stop listening to Terror music. And of course when you want to hear Terror music, you go to Opa Drokz. The legend. The mighty grandad of Terror music. He played last year on the mainstage of the legendary Thunderdome event, which took place in the Jaarbeurs, in Utrecht, and if you weren't there because the tickets were sold out, you must have been watching the livestream at home. If you are experiencing any side effects of NOT going to parties, why not go to Youtube and watch the sets which have been put on there, in blooming 5K quality! I've got two new monitors, and I can see everything so clearly now: it's like the lasers are going off in my living room! It's like I am actually there. But sadly I wasn't. Would have extremely awesome, and besides the mainstage, I would have been in the Thundergods area, or the Heroes Of Hardcore area. The line up for the mainstage on its own looked impressive: Access One, Evil Activities, Tha Playah, Mad Dog, Dither, Angerfist/MissK8/Never Surrender/Nosferatu, N-Vitral, Sefa, Dr Peacock & Partyraiser, and of course Drokz (with surprise act DJ Akira). Drokz, the legend,I wish I could see you more often. It's been too long since I last saw you perform. I need the Terror, and sadly there aren't that many events in the UK that you play at. I've interviewed him before for my website, but I cannot get enough of him and his music. So when I discovered his set on Youtube, I was a happy man. And someone composed a tracklist for me (well, not just for me). Happy days! Here's the tracklist of his set which ended the Thunderdome mainstage. Drokz - Ode Aan de Gabber Dione - Pain Till I Die (SRB Remix) w/ Razor Edge - Deathrow (KRTM Remix) Darrien Kelly - All About Loungin' (Drokz Gabber Bootleg) Drokz - Moet Nie Mauwe (DJ Tool) Drokz & Day-Mar - Our Song Stormtrooper - Todesvogel (Mr Courage & Drokz Remake) Vandal!sm feat Sedutchion - Drums Of War DJ Mad Dog - Reset 3 Steps Ahead - Gangster Nosferatu - Poppin' Pistols Drokz - This Is Dedication Proactive HC - Definition Of Hard Drokz - The Understream (Remix) Detest - The Return SRB - War Machine Detest - The Hunter Drokz - Demonstrate Detest, Drokz, Akira & Thrasher - Le Violence Never Back Down HKV Dubplate VIP HCM - Ready To Attack Hellfish & Bryan Fury - Fuck Everybody Drokz - Stamppot Met Gehaktbal The Satan - Destroy Everything Nosferatu - The Pain Dolphin - Hong Kong Ping Pong Drokz - Phonking Like An OG Hellfish & Akira - The Sixteen Drokz - The Vietnam War Hellfish - Steel Fishfinger (Sweet & Sour Remix) Drokz & Furyan - Worst Enemy Neophyte & Drokz - Sloop Die Speakers (Thunderdome 2009 Anthem) So this happened. Will you look at this, mate! This is literally everything crammed into an hour long set! Not just Terror, but a bit of Hardcore, Gabber, Uptempo, and God knows what they call it all nowadays. This has been the best hour of today, that's for damn sure. And the picture quality has been extremely good! DJ Drokz is a legend. Not only is he the 'voice' of Thunderdome (the roar), but he's been there since the early days. He's so damn old but so hard, they won't even allow him in an old people's retirement home. He will freak out the other elderly people.Imagine being with Drokz in a retirement home. He will blow everyone's artificial heart into a billion pieces. Can't picture him doing bingo or just sit in an armchair, doing nothing. Drokz is Hardcore, and so are we. The set starts with a smashing intro. And the way it has been coordinated with the lightning department is just pure quality. You jut feel that shit is about to happen. It must have given Drokz goosebumps, walking onto that mainstage, and getting the place knocked down for the last hour. He literally killed it. The set was wicked, the music he selected has been really dope as fuck. I would normally complain that there weren't many people raving their arses off, but to be fair it was 6 o'clock in the morning, and most of them raved from 10 o'clock in the evening before, so they were knackered as hell. They still stayed, because they didn't want to miss Drokz's set. But they were treated to a wicked Terror/Hardcore set. One they won't easily forget. It was an easy choice, selecting my favourite record from Drokz's set. It's Darrien Kelly's song, remake by Drokz. The original is a wicked anthem, but Drokz made it a 'tandje harder'. And fucking hard it is. Really liking this newer version. Drokz is a legend, and this set is one of my most favourite Drokz sets. This one and the previous set at Thunderdome 2017 (was it then, not sure) with Partyraiser. That one was awesome too! Sadly never came with a tracklist. You cannot download this, but still enjoy it in high quality. Enjoy it, and bring Thunderdome back into your house. Stay at home, stay safe! But still, keep on raving! Wherever you are. - My Vauxhall Corsa 2017 - Diamond Edition
London, United Kingdom Regular viewers to my social media pages (like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and more) are fully aware of the fact that I own a Vauxhall (Opel) Corsa from 2017. True to my new website, and the fact that I've had it for about 2 1/2 year now, I think it's time for me to review the beast that I call Charles Corsa, but the wife disagrees. She calls it Charly. So there. Time to review our purchase made in January 2018. I have had a few cars in the past, and the first one I started with, was a Opel Astra 1.2l Bordeaux Red, and I made some small modifications. Truth be told, they looked absolutely horrible. But I did not have thousands to spend on it, so I did things on the cheap. It was cool back then, but now, not really. After that I owned a VW Polo 1.0l Lime Green, a Renault Twingo 0.8l Bordeaux Red, a Volvo S40 1.8l Red, and one Bordeaux Red, and a Mazda 2 Grey. I had to buy the Mazda, because of an accident I had with the Volvo. But the Mazda, as spacious as it was, it was a car with a lot of hidden mistakes and defects, and I think I spent about 3k on repairs. When the clutch went, I decided to get rid of it entirely, and I needed a vehicle to replace it. But money is an option: my back yard isn't filled with money trees. What should I choose? My colleagues at the time gave me ideas. A lot of them. Seeing as I worked for a company hired by Opel/Vauxhall, the idea of purchasing a Vauxhall was easily made. But which one? It should have 5 doors, but I wasn't fussed about the engine, or anything else. It should be able to take me from A to B, and preferably back. We (me and the wife) went to Thurlow Nunn, our closest Vauxhall dealership, and found a Corsa, pre registered. But it still had done 10 miles, so it was brand new. To keep a long story short, we decided to get it. A Diamond Edition. Good engine. Exquisite interior, and funky exterior. I was so happy, I don't think I slept at all days before we would be given the key. The day came, and I collected the vehicle. And I've driven it a lot since January 2018. To be precise: we are currently at 49k miles. I thought I was going to reach 60k miles at the end of the Warranty period, but due to COVID-19, that's not going to happen. But the 49k have been a bliss so far. It does come packed with everything you need. A good stereo system, heated front screen, seats, and steering wheel. Airconditioning. Half leather interior. Automatic light system. Alarm (obviously). Intellilink system. And it all works. It just does. And that makes me happy. It has been the purchase of the century for me, personally. It was worth every penny. But seeing as I've got some insight into the Warranty rules and regulations, I do maintain this vehicle extremely well. Always make sure that you service it on time, and as per manufacturing given intervals. Bird dirt on the car? Clean it! Don't leave it on there, or it might damage the paint, which isn't a manufacturing defect, but more caused by external influences. Clean the car every so often. Why not? It gives you the satisfaction that you are looking at a car that might be 2/3 years old, but still looks as shiny as the day it left the factory in Spain. But it is important to maintain the vehicle well. Always have the services done on time, and correctly. Yes, you might go to your local garage around the corner, but let him/her use the correct spec oil, filter, etc. It is important: any incorrectly used parts might damage the vehicle, and it might not be a manufacturing defect, covered under Warranty. So what I do, is go to where I purchased the vehicle from, Thurlow Nunn in Luton. And I get a good service, every time. But has it been all joy? Nope. As cool as the diamond edition is, with its fancy wheels, it isn't. I damaged the wheel slightly, so I wanted to have it repaired, but it turns out that not all companies can repair this. Only specialists can do this. Bummer. And one of the main missing pieces from the vehicle was an arm rest. It didn't come with one. And at first it didn't matter, because my journeys to and from work were alright, but I have changed jobs, and now I sit a total of 4 hours+ every day in the car, and if you don't have a centre armrest, you are buggered. But don't fear, Vauxhall is here! Thurlow Nunn ordered one for me, and I fitted this myself. And with my two left hands, I did do it. And it has been a life changing bit. My journeys won't be any shorter, but more pleasant. What are the good thing about this car, compared to my previous vehicles? Well, there are many good things. The engine is good. The car's interior is good. The boot space is good. The stereo is good. I am happy, whenever I look at it. It just looks so damn good, doesn't it? (please look at the images below, and comment below if the car looks good or looks like garbage): Some images are taken from when the car was new, and some were taken after it had already been used for a while. And you can tell that I keep the car in good condition. Even the interior. The floor mat driver side had a small hole in it, and I purchase one from Thurlow Nunn, and that has been pleasant ever since. I know that this is caused by wear and tear, due to the usage pattern of the vehicle. So I've driven it excessively, and can say in all honesty that I do know the car's good and bad points. Don't worry: if you are thinking of buying one (not the new Corsa E), you might need to keep this in the back of your mind. Use it, but don't follow it by heart. One of the issues is the space in the back. I'm 6.0 feet, and I've got long legs, so I've got my seat really far back. This limits the space for anyone sitting behind me. No, I'm not laying down, the back bit is still fairly straight, but the whole seat is so far back that a 6.0 feet person wouldn't be able to be comfortable sitting behind me. If you are a smaller person or you have got shorter legs, this might not be an issue for passengers. Another small thing I have noticed is the storage. The dashboard storage is limited. The actual service booklet doesn't even fit in it. It's that small due to the fuse box being put there. And there's no storage surrounding the steering wheel. I would have liked more storage, but due to me fitting an armrest (which comes with a small storage compartment) it's all sorted now. The only manufacturing defect I encountered, was when the front bumper sensor was going off randomly, when I wasn't even near any object. The sensor wasn't fitted correctly, and after visiting my dealer, they did sort it out, and now it's been working correctly. Small detail: I do find the driver seat loosing its strength. I tried to persuade the manufacturer that this is a defect, obviously caused by usage, but it shouldn't happen. But sadly they declined it. I might need to fix this myself, but I hoped that it would be covered. The top layer of the seat is a bit looser, it's like it isn't attached properly to the foam layer underneath. Besides these points, the car has been a bliss. It has taken me to the Netherlands several times, to Barry Island, to the Cotswolds, to wherever I want it to go. Epsom? London? Sure, no problem! The car has been there for me. And I think it's because of a few reasons. Good manufacturing process by Opel/Vauxhall/GM, good driver, and good maintenance. All these factors are visible in a good working vehicle. I don't drive the car extremely fast, nor dangerously. But when I need the power, it's there. I have to say that this being the newest car I have ever owned, it has also been the best. From all the cars I have driven over the years, it has been there for me. Yes, I've driven other vehicles over the years too, lately Lexus and Toyotas, and they have been good, but I don't want to exchange the vehicle just yet. No need to get rid of Charles/Charly. It's a decent car. It's a car. But a car that is a car, not a project for a technician. Low maintenance, but efficient experience for the driver. It does long distant drives very well. Oh, and I forgot to mention that it also has the ability to drive without me touching the pedals! How bliss is that? No lane warning system, but a cruise control that does it for me. You still need to touch the wheel, it's not a Tesla.. I give the car a 4.5 out of 5. Little things that nag me. But they are little. It does come equipped with everything you need. And things I personally don't need, but you (the reader) might. Protective child seat locks. Rear parking camera and sensors. It's got the lot. So now the vehicle details. If you are bothered: Vauxhall Corsa Cylinder Capacity: 1398 cc CO2 emissions: 120 g/km Fuel: Petrol Vehicle Colour: Grey Vehicle Type Approval : M1 Version: Diamond Edition There we go. If you are looking for a Corsa, make sure you investigate all the options out there: the specifications can be altered to your liking. Remember, Opel/Vauxhall do make the Corsa E now, so it might be that they do not fabricate the vehicle I have described. But I don't work for the manufacturer anymore, so I don't know. But you might see vehicles at your local dealership. Check them out, do a test drive, and see if it appeals to you. - Mark Neenan - Thatchers Vintage 505 Lockdown Mix (April 2020)
Techno,. Ever heard of it? Of course you have. If you are a connoisseur of the harder styles, you know it's a specific genre, and has been a stable one since the late 80s/early 90s. If you are a noob, you might call everything hard and fast Techno. You are clearly wrong. But that's OK, we are here to help, and support when necessary. The mix you are about to listen to, isn't anything else. It is pure Techno. Something Eminem rapped about, remember? Techno. Yes. It's by Mark Neenan, this mix. You might have seen a few mixes of him in the past, and now he's back with a new one. But I'm not sure what this mix is about? I'm guessing it was made for a radio station? Never heard of Thatchers Vintage 505? The name is linked to a person who has the same surname, who has Margaret as first name, and who took away school milk and closed down the mines. But she's got f**k all to do with it, right? If she does, how come I never knew that she liked Techno? Mark is also part of the Filth Infatuated label, so you will obviously hear music from that label. But it's kind of dark, this Techno mix. And a bit acid-y. It is a mix you want to hear on this beautiful Saturday morning. It isn't annoying or in your face kind of Techno though, so if you have just woken up, you will be woken up in a pleasant way. Let's check out the tracklist. And again, if you are a connoisseur, you might go nuts after seeing this tracklist. Alex Jann - Blue Moon Rising cLIENT 03 - Am I Reaching You A-Future - No Era (Alex Jann's Planet Transmit Remix) SQNCR69 - 310919 Cri Du Coeur - Diaphragm (Kaiser Remix) Euan Colston - C13H16CINO Mark Neenan - Not Another Covid Track A.P. & Sted Hellvis - Blank Input Lasawers & Lfsc - Atomik Miss Adk - Hexadecimal (Carara Remix Part 1) Grindvik & Pfirter - Neu Glenn Wilson & The Anxious - Direct 1 WISER - Badman Jay Tommy - Hidden Addiction Strap On Sally - Choker Maria Singer & Javi Lago - Blank Word Booty Slave & D.A.V.E. The Drummer - Eyes Meet Ceph20 - Rendlesham Bauernfeind - Kowloon City You are probably reading this, and thinking: '' mmmm, should I give this a go?''. Well, the answer to that is yes. Techno can be listened to 24/7, 364 days of the year. We will give the Christmas fanboys and girls (and other genders) that day to hear Mariah do her thing, and for Buble to come out of his cave. But all the other days are Techno, full of Techno. Mark Neenan's mix is tight. Very tight. I've been listening to his mixes over the years, and they have always been good. Not heard one shitty mix from him. So yeah, trust TCD when I say that Mark knows a thing or two about making good Techno mixes. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is a good mix. The records actually take me back to the early 2000s. They have got this vibe surrounding them, similar to the tracks made then. I'm loving it a lot. This would be the kind of music I would go nuts to on the dancefloor at events such as Innercity, Sensation Black, Mysteryland, etc. I do really like the early 2000s sound, it's so unique and catchy. And again, not in your face. That's what we like to hear. I'm a lover of Techno, but not an expert. So forgive me for not knowing who made the track around the 51 minute mark, but that's my favourite. If you are an expert, please leave a comment below. A wonderful mix, and you can download this too for free. Check it out on Mark's Soundcloud page! - Underground Rotterdam House Tape' 3 (1993)
Today I'm on a roll. Earlier on I was listening to some nice Trance music, which took me to another level, but now I'm listening to some lovely early Hardcore/House/Techno, from around 1993, taken from a mixtape. Yes, the actual tape. Tapes were a thing back in the 90s: for all you kids, you don't know the struggle we had with those damned things. The amount of pencils that we bought, just to rewind those bloody things... and the amount of tape we put on the corners of the pre-recorded tapes. It was a nuisance, but at that time the only thing we had. And we cherished it. I've not heard of these mixtapes before. Maybe because I'm not from Rotterdam (from Limburg, miles away from Rotjeknor). Or maybe because I was too young to actually get these tapes. There's a nice history behind these tapes, and if you are bothered, you can read it here (link will take you to Discogs). It will give you an idea on what the DJs had to do back then, to get the music to the masses. And the fact that bouncer weren't only there to protect you, but also to sell these tapes. God, those days. I wasn't old enough to go to the clubs, I was only 10 years old. But Hardcore music had already grabbed my attention (see my House Party 8 CD review). The tape is as oldskool as you can expect it to be. It's got everything you need: House, Techno, Gabber, Hardcore, and of course a bit of Breakbeat too! And that's exactly the reason why this mixtape stuck to me. You'll find it out soon. Thanks to our friend magpie303 for yet another wicked mixtape. His page is truly astonishing! Zolex - Time Modulator (Il Vero Mix) The Prodigy - Full Throttle Unknown Artist - Unknown Bounty Killaz - Brighter Future DJ Solo - Axis House Pimps - Get The Hook (Ilsa Gold Remix) 2 Uninterested (Tekno Mafia) - I Don't Care (Industrial Strength Mix) DJ Bountyhunter - Demilitarized Zone Genetic Waste - Genetic Waste Lenny Dee - Alpha 1 Thunderball - Bonzai Channel One Hardsequencer - Braincrash Ilsa Gold - Elastico Ilsa Gold - Silke (Space Cube Mix) Bass Generator - The Event (Who Gives A Fuck About Stupid Mix Names Anyway? Mix) Holy Noise - The Nightmare Continues DJ Bountyhunter - Woops Underground Nation Of Rotterdam - Bitch (Original Mix) Unknown Artist - Unknown Juggernaut - XTC Motherf... Reanimator - This Is Not A Fairy- Tale The Ambush - Ambush 2 Seriously impressive mixtape! And the tracklist is a thing of beauty! I've got my headset on right now, and the volume is up to the max. I cannot listen to this mix with the volume low, thats like blasphemy. This was meant to be heard with the volume way up high, so that's what I'm doing right now. Whoever was behind this mixtape, is a genius. I'm really loving each and every record on here. Really impressed with the selection of anthems I love the diversity of this mixtape too! You can literally find everything in here. At certain points the mixing isn't beautiful, but that could be because it was mixed with 'basic' equipment, or the recording wasn't great, or the tape, it could be knackered. Wouldn't you be knackered if you were about 26/27 years old? Tapes weren't made to last forever. But you can still feel the music, and the good vibes happening back in 1993, in the club scene in the Benelux. I'm seriously in love with multiple records on here. Like 'Genetic Waste', 'Unknown' (track 19). 'Demilitarized Zone', but the best has to be this rather peculiar version of the Prodigy's 'Full Throttle'. Slightly different than the original version I'm aware of. Maybe the vinyl version from 1993 was different? A wicked mixtape. This has put my mind into overdrive, and I'm all hyped up right now. Sadly I need my rest, which probably won't happen for the next 7 hours...... - French Skies - WaveCasting 312 (2020)
I've been following this channel on Soundcloud for a while now, and every so often I do listen to the WaveCasting mix series, just to clear my mind, when necessary. So that's what I've done today: I saw one of their mixes online, and gave it a go. I had to, seeing as I had a rubbish day today. I needed something to cheer me up, something a bit calmer and relaxing, compared to the harder stuff I usually listen to. I've never heard of the artist French Skies before. I quickly went on his page, and found out that he's actually a Frenchman. Well, you never know if someone is from a place, unless you do your research (everyone can adopt a name which doesn't apply to them). But you can read the short biography on Soundcloud, so if you want to know more, head on over there, and go nuts. I'm more interested in the music, and obviously this mix is fully Trance focussed. But, seeing as I'm dipping in and out of the Trance scene, all these records are unknown to me. Should be a nice surprise. Here's the tracklist, if you are interested: Andrw Rayel - 550 Senta (Eximinds Bootleg) Acues - A Perfect Day (Original Mix) Maratone & Roxanne Emery - Learn To Fly (Mhammed El Alami Extended Remix) Amine Maxwell & INDI - Quivira (Original Mix) Sebastian Pawlica - The Great Pyramids (Original Mix) Sergey Salekhov - Alena (Original Mix) Tycoos & Denis Sender - Collabro (Aimoon Remix) David Forbes & Lostly - In My Mind (Extended Mix) Will Atkinson - Beans (Extended Mix) Who Knows? & Mr. Nobody - Balance (Original Mix) Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike vs Vini Vici - Get In Trouble (So What) (Extended Mix) Yner - Smart Dust (Original Mix) Massimo Santucci - Earth & Space (Analogue Dream Remix) I know only a handful of the artists, but that's not a bad thing. It's always a good thing to learn new things. And today is such a day for me. I've opened up, and a new world emerged. So let's see if French Skies' latest WaveCasting mix is something for me, and maybe you. Well, I have to say that he won me over with the first record in this mix. What a slammer! I've not heard this one before (like all 13 others in this mix), but what a fantastic record! Seeing as we are all locked inside of our homes and we cannot go out and party throughout the night, I can simply close my eyes, and let this record do the trick for me. Fantastic remix, that's for sure. And that's my favourite record of this mix. Of course the others are great too (besides 'Get In Trouble', just can't stand Pink! and all these remixes of her tunes). It does keep you going. And the good thing about this mix, is the fact that you can download this for free. And he's got 311 other episodes of his WaveCasting, worth checking out. A good mix series. If you love Trance, you will certainly like WaveCasting.
